#maybe one day they'll remake it and do it right

Note
a few days ago you mentioned that you headcanon that remake Leon lost his virginity to Claire.
Do you think this is something he would regret or would he still have some lingering feelings there?
Like, I love Ashley but I also really love Claire too and since you mentioned this I've been kinda torn lol!
So basically, care to elaborate?
So, in OG canon, RE2 ends with Leon being all amped up to go after Umbrella. This apparently ends up with him and Claire in an argument about the next steps to take, and he all but shoves her to go in the opposite direction of him and Sherry so that she can find Chris -- and then Leon and Sherry get picked up by the CIA just a few hours later.
Like, that whole thing happens really fucking fast in OG. Leon has not had a chance to sleep in the time between driving into Raccoon City and being kidnapped into CIA custody.
And yet, somehow, despite this, Claire is able to keep in contact with Leon to the point of being able to email him during the events of Code Veronica??? Like, it makes absolutely no fucking sense at all, and Capcom never bothered to try to explain it specifically because it's complete plot convenience nonsense lmao
So I feel like this is one of the changes that Remake is making -- because RE2make did not end with the same tone as OG RE2. RE2make ends with Leon looking at Claire and Sherry as his immediate priority, and if any Umbrella shit pops up, they'll deal with it then.
Leon's wording during the intro of RE4make is suspect, too -- that he was "later asked" by the CIA to join up. That makes me think that this didn't happen right away -- that there was at least a handful of days, or even maybe a full week, in between him escaping Raccoon City and the CIA getting a hold of him. And this is sort of backed up by the lingering nerve damage in his left shoulder in RE4make -- he probably carried that open gunshot wound around for a bit longer in Remake than he did in OG canon.
(side note: I know that the photo of Leon that Krauser has been very uhhhh attached to, let's say, looks like Leon was literally just taken off the streets like he was in OG canon, but like. Capcom wasn't going to make a whole new, cleaned up version of his RE2make character model just for Krauser's jerk off fantasies LMAO it was just easier to put in his endgame RE2make model there)
So this meant that there was a not-insignificant amount of time in Remake canon where Leon, Claire, and Sherry were basically playing house, so to speak, while Leon and Claire tried to figure out what to do next.
I imagine this is when it happened.
You've got these two college-aged kids trapped in a domestic situation together after escaping from an actual literal waking nightmare together. They're hurting not just physically, but emotionally. They've been isolated from the rest of the world and have only each other to trust and confide in and try to figure out a way of coping with any of it and moving forward.
Yeah, that's going to boil over at some point very quickly. Any number of things could have been the trigger point for it.
It could have been Claire helping Leon keep his wound clean and feeling like she's actually helping in a way that matters while he's a little overwhelmed by someone taking care of him.
Or it could have been a melancholic moment where they're both lost and directionless and feeling helpless, and they both end up looking for some comfort in each other, because that's all they have.
Or it could have been a tense moment when one or both of them can't make sense of why they're still alive -- or if they're still alive, and they just need to feel something to remind themselves they're still human.
Or it could have been a quiet moment in the middle of the night, where neither one of them says anything at all, and neither one of them is quite sure just how Claire ended up on Leon's lap while he kisses her as though he's afraid she'll disappear if he stops.
It doesn't really matter what it was. No matter what happened, it happened.
And I don't think that Leon would have told her up front that only the first two fingers on his right hand know what the inside of a vagina feels like. She probably suspected it when she noticed how nervous he was, and she definitely figured it out after the third time he went too far and accidentally pulled out of her completely mid-thrust instead of just pulling back -- but I don't think that this was information that he volunteered.
But Claire was probably the awakening of Leon's praise kink, because I'm sure that once she did figure it out, she literally took him by the hands and walked him through it. And after a few comments along the lines of "You're a fast learner" and "That's it, you've got it" and "Keep going, just like that" and "You're doing so fucking good" -- Leon learned something about himself that he did not know previously.
I don't think he regrets it, and I don't think that he ever will.
Well, I mean, I'm sure he regrets it a little whenever she decides to hold it over his head later in life, because she's Claire Redfield and there's absolutely zero chance that she's going to let him forget that she was the one who taught him how to please a woman.
And he probably regretted it a little bit the first time that he ever had to look Chris in the face.
And then also one other time way later down the line when it hit him that he was now much closer to Chris than he was to Claire, and that weird "oh my god I fucked your sister, and now I'm also kind of attracted to you oh god no why is my life like this" realization came over him.
But. You know.
I don't think he regrets it in a serious way. It was an important moment in both of their lives -- it meant something; it wasn't like he slept with her just for the sake of losing his virginity. It helped both of them get through the worst parts of the darkest time either of them had had to face or endure. Going through Raccoon City itself was the easy part -- fighting was simple, and it kept both of them focused. But it was the aftermath, when the enormity of all that had happened settled down on them -- that was the true nightmare of it all. And they got through it together.
Do I think either of them caught feelings because of it? No, I don't -- so, there was no heartbreak attached to this at any point, either. But it was still emotional and poignant and it mattered, and I think both of them are really glad they did it.

I don't understand Pokémon fans now a days... Many seem to feel like they have been outright betrayed because they didn't announce any remakes of Black and White on the last pokémon Day as if:
Game Freak ever promised they would. (They did not)
The previous remakes weren't a trashfire. (They weren't great)
The existence of a Legends game means we can't possibly have a remake made around the same time. (BDSP came out alongside Legends Arceus)
Remakes have to come out every generation. (There were none during Gen V or Gen VII, unless you count Let's Go, which still was't the Gen VI remakes people were already crying about back them..)
Its like Pokémon fans hate originality and just need to have the same formula repeated over and over again... Every game must have a third version (RIP Grey, Z and Stars). Every generation must have a remake. Every game needs to follow the same tired old "collect 8 gym badges and beat the elite 4"-formula. Every gen needs to have new Pkkémon but ew not those ones Gen 1 was soooo much better. Surely you can't beat the amazing originality of a rock with arms.
We may get Black and White remakes eventually. Maybe they'll take their time and make them actually better this time instead of repeating all the same mistakes that Diamond and Pearl did without taking Platinum into consideration. Or maybe we won't. Maybe we'll get something great, like another Legends Game... (please don't suck Z-A. You have a lot to live up to.)
One rarer thing I've seen is people asking for a Black and White 3... which I just find baffling... you guys do know that the previous game in the series came out in 2012 right? That was 12 years ago... many of the current target demographic of Pokémon were at best babies at the time... It would be rather confusing.
Sure I know there are games that waited longer for their sequels...Kingdom Hearts 2 came out in 2005 and its sequel in 2019... but most of the Kingdom Hearts series is still available for purchase on modern consoles... I know because I just bought a whole collection this weekend for my PS4 for the nostalgia (currently still stuck on the first game and its...not holding up great). BW and BW2 haven't been (legally) available for almost a decade. Most of the younger pokémon fans have never played them. Releasing another sequel now before remaking them makes no sense.
TLDR: Game Freak never promised us any B/W remakes. We may still get them, but I personally would be fine with not having any.

i'm very frustrated with the idea of callouts as a whole, even in scenarios where they can be justified because...well. wall of text incoming.
from my own experiences with both having written them and also having had one written about my friend group, it just seems like they only made things worse for us in the long run. maybe it's just the communities that i happen to run in (fandom spaces are full of absolute fucking monsters, even if i consider myself fandomless these days) but...if you aren't "popular" enough or don't have the ability to get the right eyes on you, people wont care. even worse, they'll scrutinize and judge you for having been a victim. and the abusers won't face any REAL consequences outside of potentially losing their current platform...they can always remake under a new alias in a new community and continue to prey on the hapless people who exist somewhere else.
i dunno, i guess it's like...the bigger they are, the harder they fall maybe? unless the person being called out is a minority, in which case they're fucked either way regardless of whether they were innocent or not...
but all i can really say is that out of the two callouts i've had to write, both of them were EXTREMELY justified with some severely sick behavior going on that still haunts me to this day...and both of them caused me so much stress/trauma/pain that i still kind of regret making them to this day, even if i really didn't have any other choice but to try and do the "right thing" at the time.

I have done the Worst Possible Pokemon Day prediction. I have done the NO Way in Hell Will it Ever be This Good prediction. Time for the "realistic" prediction.
Nostalgia bait video of game progression throughout the years or scene of everyone playing Pokémon
Pokemon Go is doing a thing I guess, probably BW2 Kyurem
Unite- they're adding Miraidon and have already told us, but they need to take up time.
Masters has a bunch of gems and events idk. Looks like someone is getting a Mega Tyranitar I guess
Cafe ReMix is gonna do a thing- did they already add Miraidon? I don't keep up with it tbh, looks boring
Pokemon Sleep has some kind of thing. Maybe more pokemon added?
Merch announced- its bland and over priced, but someone will buy it. The only thing I want are hats
Pokemon Concierge season 2 trailer?
Next Pokémon game- most likely ILCA Unova remakes (I'll argue this if I have to, but they're just short of a cowboy and large mole driving a car and honking a Driftveil inspired La Cucaracha carhorn through the streets of New York with the obvious hints they're dropping in games and in literal NYC right now lately).
Legends Unova or something in that vein announced for either December 2024 or January 2025. This will be the last Switch mainline game.
Music video, probably Hatsune Miku
Less likely to happen, but on the table
Gb, GBC, and GBA ports to eshop or NSO
New Pokémon movie announcement featuring the first mythical since Zarude- most likely the Horizons cast
Something about Horizons anime- Sprigatito evolves?
New anime mini series based on SV DLC? Maybe centered on Carmine, Kieran, the BBE4, and Ogerpon.
After that is where you start getting surprises, good or bad. Side games won't replace a mainline game release or dlc as proven by PMD DX, so they could do whatever from here.
Reasonable but random predictions, not all but maybe one or more could happen, most likely not
PMD Explorers Remake
PMD Mobile game with micro transactions and live service
Pokemon crosses over with something
tcg digital card game on Switch
Pokemon racer game
Will not Happen, imo:
SV dlc pack 2. They seem pretty done with it tbh, even with all the loose ends. Can't blame them for being tired of adding content to a broken game that's still not finished and is being held together with scotch tape and Elmer's glue
Johto re remakes YET: simply because I think those will be an early Switch 2 title to get as many people on board the next system akin to how LGPE drew in the Go, genwunner, and main crowd to the Switch, and they can't announce it because Nintendo hasn't officially revealed the Switch 2 yet. I'll say they'll announce that next year.
Kalos- yeah I see you there, you dumb bastard, still huffing that Kalos Copium 11 years later. Let it go, man. Let. It. Goooo. Southern Kalos is NOT happening dude. At least, not this gen. It didn't happen in Alola, not in Galar, and it's not happening in Paldea. They're not skipping gen 5 to get to you first.
Overall I expect a similar response to the 2021 Pokémon Day Presents. A mixture of under, over, and straight up whelmed. Thorough disappointment for everything but Legends Arceus, from what I remember. Maybe they'll make my day and surprise me with something amazing, but I feel that the ILCA Unova Remake will probably piss a lot of people off while the Legends game excites me and everyone else.

Hogwarts : a history
You think you know the story but you only know how it ends. To get to the heart of the story, you have to go back to the beginning.
"You witches make mockery of our very existence walking like gods amongst men"
For it was an age magic was feared by common people and witches and wizards suffered much persecution
Trust I will use all that I have to keep us safe but we will not be safe long if we stay here.
I had a dream- I can't explain it but I know that we have to go. Go where Rowena? There is no place to go I know what I saw Salazar
"Maybe one day people will come to see magic as a force for good."
You are alive because of me Salazar. Do not forget yourself
It is not about glory Godric
Sometimes you have to do what you think is right and damn the consequences
He betrayed our cause Helga, he betrayed me I thought we were friends It didn't mean anything
I don't want you to fight him tomorrow I have to do this. It is my duty
Helga Hufflepuff you have been convicted of witchcraft  and are hereby sentenced to be hanged.
I will try and protect you as best I can.
Magic will lead the way.
Once the people of England see our newfound power they'll bow  down in fear. We will remake the world, create the future.
"Your fight is over rowena" "No you're wrong this has just begun"
"With or without you i will burn down their world godric"

Ranked: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
So in all my franchise devouring, this is definitely one of THE most disappointing series I've covered. To be fair, nothing can touch what watching all the Paranormal Activity movies did to me, and there is more to love here, but this is going to be kinda rough all the same.
Texas Chainsaw 3D : So at bare minimum, most of the movies are genuinely well-made and look good. NOT THIS ONE. This was the cheesiest and most sellout, oddly enough, that the series ever gets. Imagine if TCM was the Friday the 13th 2009 remake with less charm. Now that's some stinky shit right there. The concept is interesting, a long lost Sawyer rediscovering her roots and meeting Leatherface, but the execution is downright dumb. It makes it so there are no heroes and no villains and everyone's just a gray lump. A notion that a movie with better production values maybe could handle. But that ain't this. Oh, and Leatherface looked like total shit, which is the only time I can honestly say that of this series. Even the bad entries get that basic part right.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) : What was I just saying about no heroes, no villains, just gray blobs that get turned into tomato bisk? Yeah, that. I don't quite know what the point is of making a film with intensely politically charged talking points and making every character be in the wrong, but I can tell you what it makes. A MESS. Where if you root for someone, chances are they'll do something awful, stupid, backwards, or go against their own principles at some point. This is probably the goriest entry, but who gives a damn? Gore is supposed to serve a story or characters (or ideally both) that you care about. Without that, it's corn syrup.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning : So... this is a prequel to the 2003 remake. About a quarter of the way through, I found myself going, wait. I thought they said in the previous movie this is the first time anyone ever made it out alive to report the murders... YEP. A prequel where it was preordained there will be no survivors. So they made sure to make everyone very thinly written so you wouldn't be too worried about that. The main thumbs up I have here is that it's one of my favorite Leatherface designs of the entire series. Otherwise, it's easily skipped.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation : The reputation this movie has is a bit off in my opinion. It's starting to get "so bad, it's good" cred. Yes, there are things about it that I would say fit that description. Particularly Matthew McConaughey's performance. All the over-the-top acting in general. But at the end of the day, the movie plays all of its extremely weird gags very straight. So the tone is dead serious while we introduce such non-TCM concepts as the illuminati. And it turns out, no, this isn't a comedy. The cocreator of the entire franchise was absolutely sincere. It shows, and it really brings the fun way down. It's ridiculous and way out in left field, but it doesn't mean for you to laugh. Yikes.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) : We're finally in watchable territory. And yet when I say that... The last half hour just becomes what it always is for these movies. A girl screaming non-stop while chased or tortured, and after several rounds of that, you start to check out. I've also never seen a final girl fuck up her own escape as much as this one does. Also, and this goes for TCM: The Beginning too, R. Lee Ermey is one of the most one-note, overrated actors I've ever seen, and his presence here is not helpful in making me enjoy the film. Otherwise, this is serviceable if TCM is your thing.
Leatherface (2017) : Of the later sequels/remakes/prequels, this is pretty fun. Imagine, a TCM movie having fun with the premise. Trying something different. With an origin story that wants you to guess which character will be our big ole chainsaw boy. While him turning out to be the least likely suspect might put some people off, I thought the transformation was pretty dang cool. There's a lot of strong acting going on here from Lili Taylor and Stephen Dorff. The absolutely wild girl with the burn scars was a welcome addition to rather a lot of nutty characters, so it's a real feat she managed to make herself stand out. Overall, a stronger film than I could have hoped for that late in the game.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (OG) : WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S NOT NUMBER ONE!? I mean, it's not. Not for me. I find this movie to be a pretty difficult sit. There are a lot of tiresome and forgettable characters. Our villains are loud and annoying. But the grit this was filmed with, the determination to get it made, the messages that lie underneath, and the character of Leatherface all shine through. It's an important film that ushered in a new era of horror, so while I don't find it that watchable, I deeply respect it.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 : This is the movie The Next Generation wishes it was. Tobe Hooper decided he could never follow the first film, so he decided to make a parody of his own work. Genius. It's hilarious, disgusting, lurid, wild, and extremely fitting with the decade it was made in. Stretch is by far my favorite final girl in the series. Dennis Hopper knew exactly what movie he was in. And the soundtrack is great, too.
Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 : Sorry. Yeah, I'm sorry. But I love this one best. You've got Ken Foree kicking ass. You have Viggo Mortensen serving cunt. The Sawyer family actually manages to feel like a loving and supportive family in a twisted way, which is a trope I love. They realized they can't up the ante when Hooper has already set the bar so high, so they don't try. They make ridiculous fights, silly dialogue, and have fun. Fun is always the biggest component for me as to whether or not a film will be a winner. So uh... winner winner, chicken dinner?
Thus my journey ends. I want to add that aside from that dead last entry, even when I didn't love whatever movie I happened to be watching, they did right by Leatherface. He's one of those Jason-y slashers that you want to hug, because he probably deserves better than being used like an attack dog by his own family. I always enjoyed watching him, and every actor brought a different physicality and presence. So, no, I didn't hate every second. And if Leatherface seems intriguing to you as a character, you'd definitely get something out of going over this franchise, too.

sitting here wondering what they're gonna do with the mind flayer next season considering we were told that vecna was his top general and how that plays into everything and so far here's what's bouncing around my head:
overall:
everything has been vecna's doing thus far, because it was his job to give the mind flayer entry into our world and form a bridge between them (see: the rifts). this would explain why he wasn't panicked or fussed at all over being attacked, claimed that they hadn't won/there's no stopping this, and that this was only the beginning. everything that we've seen so far has been act one of vecna and the mind flayer's master plan.
the mind flayer is going to materialize as the thessalhydra that nancy saw in vecna's vision and THAT'S when shit is ACTUALLY going to get real. we thought that we'd seen the mind flayer's might before, but we haven't seen anything like it yet. monsters as crazed and aggressive as the ones from the prison and the flesh monster from season three will start to breach the rifts and that's when "the beginning of the end" starts. it'll be an all out war man vs monsters style. the details are muddy, but it likely won't be enough to just close the gates anymore. it's either too late for that or they can't get anywhere near it without being torn to shreds.
this is at first of course, because the duffers have said that we pick up in season five right where we left off and i have a feeling that things will start to breach the gate either immediately or really, really early into the season.
still, they will have to close the gates somehow eventually. aside from the one opened by the russian machine, all of the gates (to my knowledge) have been opened due to darkness (trauma, pain, guilt, and fear): eleven and vecna's first fight, eleven being forced to make contact with the demogorgon, vecna kidnapping will, and the four curses that created the rifts.
naturally, the only way to close these gates will be with light (love, acceptance, hope, and solidarity). we've seen this before when eleven thought of her mother while closing the gate in season two with hopper by her side to protect and support her, so the evidence is right there. it's going to be a group effort as it always is, but will is the light and he always has been, and he's also vecna's narrative foil + the only one still cursed ("every ending has a beginning" "it was always you") + the missing tool to vecna's plan to remaking the world (the upside down turned into hawkins when will arrived and is stuck on that same day), so he's probably going to be what closes them or severs the connection.
mike is obviously going to be in trouble, too. his proximity to will, his history of always foiling their plans and finding their weaknesses and how to exploit them, and his previous close calls with death lead to a perfect "third time's the charm" situation. mike is also one of the only other people to have been in direct contact with vecna/the mind flayer (the hospital, the shed, and the battle of starcourt). i don't know if they'll play into the whole "true sight renders you immune to illusions" thing, and feel free to correct me if i'm wrong on that as always, but regardless mike has always been able to pull will back to earth, so they're definitely going to do something with that and him as that obviously won't be a good thing for our bad guys. also, it plays into the "without heart, we all fall apart" thing. i think him injuring his leg would be a cool callback to the tunnel scene in season two, but who knows... maybe he'll injure his arm as a callback to the season three campaign? we'll see. he's definitely getting a sword or some other melee weapon, though, as that seems to be his go-to and what he's always given.
as for the mind flayer:
i'm unsure as to whether they'll give it a moral compass or make it a neutral entity, but i lean towards the latter. vecna tells eleven that the upside down was unspoiled by mankind and that he saw the mind flayer as "a means to realize [his] potential; to transcend [his] human form; to become the predator [he] was always born to be." i could be wrong in two years, but this, paired with the fact that we saw docile demogorgons in the upside down with him before he manipulated it and at the lab when they weren't possessed by the mind flayer, makes me think that it's vecna that makes the mind flayer evil.
the mind flayer is an inconceivably powerful entity that is capable of behaving as a superorganism of sorts by spreading and infecting other organisms to add to the hivemind. like every living thing, it wants to grow and reproduce to increase its fitness. this in and of itself is not an inherently evil thing. the upside was unspoiled by mankind aka unspoiled before vecna came and manipulated it. he turned the mind flayer into that spider-like image he was obsessed with as a child and, considering he's been behind everything on stranger things so far, we know that he used it as a tool to achieve his plans.
i think it's likely that they formed a "deal" of sorts. the mind flayer wants to expand and vecna wants to control the rightside up. it makes sense then that the mind flayer would allow him "to transcend [his] human form" (see: he's no longer human, leeches off of others and the environment to survive, and seemingly regenerates when hurt + god-like powers when wielding the mind flayer) if vecna gave it entryway into the rightside up and formed a bridge between their worlds. everyone gets what they want: the mind flayer can grow its superorganism and vecna can continue to leech off of its power the way he has with literally every other being (the vampire reference was not just a joke) to "remake [the world] into something beautiful" (which is where will comes in).
they most definitely and undoubtedly are going to kill vecna. that much is obvious, i feel. the mind flayer, though... it can be hurt, sure, but can it be killed? or will it be a rehash of seasons two and four: different teams fighting together to weaken it enough that they can force it through the gates? something... like that? i don't know. how do you kill a storm? how do you kill a god? we saw already that you can't fight back infection/possession. so, what can they do?
the more that i think about it, the more likely i think that'll be. they'll be severely weakened and hindered by the monster apocalypse and we know that there will be teams in the upside down, too, so they'll all be fighting for their lives—not just eleven.
The Power Of (Gay) Love will close the gates permanently, because will is eventually going to accept himself and feel so loved that there won't be enough darkness for vecna to draw strength from, effectively starving him out and severing their psychic connection, and also i'm sure some cool freaky shit is gonna go down (which of course includes will pulverizing vecna as he should).
the mind flayer won't just pack its bags and go home afterward, but if will, the shaper of worlds, won't join him then it probably won't survive here because "it likes it cold" and... the world isn't... always cold everywhere? cue will's super cool fireballs shooting it back through the gate into the upside down or something while everyone is fighting with 1 hp and a dream. i don't know the details and i won't pretend that i do. i just know that this is stranger things which means that love is literally what always saves the day, so. 1 + 1 = vecna will perish and the mind flayer will be forced to go through the gates to survive and The Power Of Love will sever the connection between worlds so that they can live in peace. or at least as much peace as you can have after Alla Dat.

hi logan ! i’m a lil late for the ttrpg meme but 39 - 42 for thaavia pls ??
Sam. Sam I love you, don't worry about being late, the timing on this was perfect, I was having... not a great night and this definitely helped.
Under a cut cause this got beefy. And anyone who wants to send me these, there's a link to the ask game at the bottom!
39. are they insecure about their appearance? how about their personality? what aspects specifically worry them?
Picked a great one right off the bat for sure. She's definitely not insecure about her appearance. She's not arrogant either, and knows full well that since she's built like a bear (both in the animal way and in the gay way) she's not exactly Standard Pretty. She knows she's not everyone's thing, but who is? Thaavia likes how she looks, and while she may not be the kind of person making folks swoon in the streets, she's also never been short of potential partners when she wanted one either. (Also she knows that even if she's not someone's type, there's no denying she has amazing hair. She busts her ass to keep it nice even while traveling, it's her one big vanity.)
As far as being insecure about her personality, that's... a tougher question. For most of her career as a medic/healer paladin, she's had a fair few cases of patients Reading Into It when she was just doing her job. There's been a fair (or rather unfair) bit of getting put on a pedestal by someone who just sort of assumed they knew what she was like and having a fairly brutal reality check that they rarely took well. So she's worked hard on putting up a front of being cold, distant, and gruff to try and nip that in the bud. And she's gotten very good at it. (16 charisma and she uses all of it to be a bitch.)
Either way, the end result is the same; most folks don't bother to get close enough to see her, to the point where she can see where the line is drawn on someone's perception of her, whether it's Thaavia they see or Paladin Godbarter™. I wouldn't go so far as to say insecure, because to me that feels more active than just a lack of confidence, but that could just be my own nitpick. Regardless, she never expects it when someone A) bothers to look past Paladin Godbarter™ to see the person under the reputation, and B) prefers Thaavia to the version of herself people like to build her up to be.
As far as what worries her, she's got some rough stuff in her past and some bad habits that she just... never fed rather than properly breaking and she's terrified that in the right situation they'll make themselves known again. All during her childhood she was raised being told she'd be a great leader to their tribe one day if she'd just learn to make The Hard Decisions, and while she prides herself on her greatest rebellion against her upbringing being her mercy, she also remembers exactly how she almost listened, what that choice almost cost, and what that promise could possibly bring out in her again. (I will not elaborate on specifics in the ask because Kade. I've been itching to reveal the big dramatic backstory stuff in game for over a year now. I really want to talk about it tho, so I could definitely be convinced outside of an ask.)
40. if you had to remake this character right now, how would you change them?
Probably not a lot of huge changes, actually. Maybe tweak her height a little (still freakishly tall even for a goliath, either down to 8 feet even or up to 8'6 just so she's the same height as Lucy while kneeling, because I enjoy when Kade threatens me with violence), possibly make her just a tiny bit older, an even 40 rather than 38. Maybe change her subclass to Redemption paladin rather than Devotion, but even that's a coin toss because both are Incredibly Thematic for her, but also mildly moot considering I plan on changing her to a homebrew of my own as part of her arc (Oath of Hubris, it's a whole thing that I'd love to go further in depth about.)
Also, I'd probably see about putting my foot down and making her and her fire genasi partner Thyris parents. Velita may not be canon, but she lives on in my heart.
Tumblr media
41. how do you keep notes for this character, if at all?
.......I have. So many notes. I have the shared character document for her and her twin brother that details their backstory, NPCs to pull from, and tidbits of goliath culture stuff I made up for our setting and the DM went "Yeah I dig that, yoink." I have the actual in-game notes that I've been taking for, again, over a year at this point (two years in february) and a refined notes document I really need to finish and share with the rest of the table because my Stream of Consciousness style of typing is uh. Not super conducive to looking for specific details without a LOT of Ctrl+F and luck. I've got a document that's literally just her in-character journal of medical/herbal knowledge in the front half and scraps of poetry, songs, and books that she's jotted down because she loved them enough to not want to forget them. And, of course, 80% of my discord dms between me and Kade for the last two-ish years have been about Lucy and Thaavia that I can go back to.
I take so many notes. Otherwise the brain gremlins eat the thoughts so I can't get them back.
42. can they dance?
Oh definitely. It's not her first pick and she's not gonna be particularly dazzling with it, but she knows how to lead, how to follow, and how not to step on toes. That partner of hers I mentioned, Thyris? He's a bard. (Technically Bard/Sorcerer, with a significantly heavier leaning into sorc, but the point still stands.) He made sure she at least knew enough to keep from looking silly. Plus it was, and continues to be, a great excuse to just hold dance with her for several hours.
And to the rest of y'all, please for the love of god send me some more, I am chewing on the walls since all my dnd games keep getting cancelled for one reason or another!

aaa nichya im not big into atla anymore but i love ur blog!!! do you know of anywhere I could ask for advice on like remaking my tumblr/leaving the anti side of things? ive been secretly proship and just quiet abt it because these people have like threatened to kill antiantis and proshoppers for a lot less than I would do 😭😭😭 aaaaa idk why im sending this ik it’s not ur expertise but youre like Known for dealing w anti BS ig! hope your day is goood!!!
Blocking people and maybe turning off the anon option can be enough to avoid most antis while you're making your blog openly pro-ship, but if you're really paranoid, I recommend using a different email to create a new Tumblr account, and either deleting the old one or just being careful to not make it obvious that they're both run by you.
Most of the time, antis are all bark and no bite, and there are plenty of lovely people to back you up if they try to start shit - and even then you can just block other blogs and even anons and just not give these assholes a second of your time, which makes them less likey to try again since they'll get bored (I should follow my own advice sometime).
As for the blog itself, just do what everyone on this hellsite does: make/reblog whatever kind of content you like, without giving a damn if other people don't like it - they're on Tumblr too, they have no right to judge.
Good luck, anon!

maybe it's just me, but I feel like capcom feels like they wrote themselves into a corner with both aeon and ada since re6. like you said before, aeon is a conflict ship, and since re6 so much of that conflict has been brought down. if capcom cared about ending romances, the next leon and ada involved game or movie would probably be the place they would end it one way or another at least narratively logically speaking, so that's probably I think why we haven't gotten those two together in a game or movie since then besides the remakes. and as far as ada goes, I think they've written themselves in a corner with her in the original timeline because they can't put her in a game by herself without leon it seems without the majority of fans not being interested in it (her solo in umbrella chronicles). at least they haven't taken that chance with her character since then. so I'm hoping now that they're making a new timeline with the remakes and being more ballsy, they'll actually do something solo with ada and give her a bigger characterization. or at least let some of us in the writing room and we'll do it for them 😂
I would tend to agree with this for the most part. I don't think that it's impossible now to repurpose Ada's character and break her away from just Leon's story arc, but it's kind of at a point where, like... Dude, she's gonna be pushing 50 by the time RE9 hits.
And I think
-- and it's with a gigantic sigh that I say this, but --
I think the real reason why Ada hasn't come back is because Capcom is afraid to show her as being middle-aged -- that if she's "too old-looking" fans won't like her anymore. She was 38 in RE6, and that's probably about as far as they're going to go. Maybe -- maybe they'll be willing to show early 40s Ada if they think they can get away with it, but that is pushing it. And so, for that reason, I don't think we're ever going to see her in the modern storyline.
And that sucks. It's sexist and it's stupid and it sucks and I hate it, but a major part of Ada's character is, unfortunately, her sex appeal, and men are small-brained little creatures who think that women lose said sex appeal at 40 unless they go full MILF (or just stop aging entirely like Jill).
So I think Capcom is at a loss mostly because they probably feel like the end of Ada's story should be in a major-release title, but... RE8 is in 2020, and they're not going to pull a Devil May Cry and go backwards in the timeline for a numbered game. I just don't see that happening. So now they're kind of stuck because... time has passed and Ada has aged, and that's just the reality of things.
So... like... idk man. idk what they're gonna do. Because the sexist double-standard is real and there's 80% of the fandom just dying to see modern-day 46-year-old Leon so that they can call him Daddy and continue to treat him like the whore he is, so it's in Capcom's best interest from a business perspective to keep him around, so...
Honestly, the end of Ada's story and the end of Aeon may very well be a flashback or even just a file to be found in a game.
And I honestly don't know how I feel about that.
Because if they're going to keep Leon around but cut Ada out of the story... they might have to kill her. And I don't want that. I really don't want that to happen. And even if they don't kill her, like... she still deserves a better send-off than "something something it vaguely happened off-screen something something."
But Aeon as a ship was never tenable in the long-run, and RE6 set the groundwork for that pretty heavy-handedly in some of the files. So, do we really need another numbered title dedicated to this melodrama? I would say no. But, at the same time, is it right to put the conclusion of this story in a, say, Revelations 3? Or a CGI movie? ... Also no, probably.
It's just shitty. It's just fucking shitty and some fucker at Capcom needs to grow some fucking balls and give me 50-year-old Ada before I fly to Japan and start egging cars in the Capcom parking lot.

at the end of the day fans will have to accept that the live action is going to be its own canon, separate from the animated series. The sooner they come to terms with that, the less fixated they'll be on changes and just judge based on what the show actually gives us.
I don't want to prioritize keeping the plot ctrl c + ctrl v because that would be extremely boring and no one wants to see a line for line shot for shot remake. What's most important to me is the characters. If they nail the characters and keep it entertaining then the general audience will enjoy it, paving the path for a Season 2 renewal.
I do think something marketing does wrong is address all these changes before the show has come out. And with still a whole month of people running around with their impression of what's going to happen and what's not going to happen. Maybe things will settle down now, idk, but what we end up with right now, is people being hella negative, and some spam accounts (ex on Youtube) constantly talking shit about the tv show even tho it's still not out yet. (like the tiniest snippet of the cast reacting to happy tweets got a shit ton of negativy like "oh you didn't show them the bad tweets huuuuh??!" like ugh, of course, what do you want? these children to feel miserable at the idea of realizing their dream??) 🤷‍♀️ People who are determined on hate-watching the show, it's just... a vibe I guess, but sure as hell not the vibe I want to experience when I'll watch the show. Because I will watch it, because no opinion I can forge for myself right now, can be accurate as long as I don't experience what they've done with it. At this point I'm hoping all the new viewers will bring a good mood cuz I'm apprehensive, not of the show itself, but how the mood around it will be. My bet is still that 85% of the people making a whole fuss about Sokka's sexism wouldn't have noticed it within the context of the show, had no one among the cast/crew/writers said anything about said "change" (even tho... again, there are Netflix execs out there saying Sokka's sexism is still in the show). And it's even more tiring when there are some channels, on Youtube, talking about this change while the person clearly has not seen the cartoon itself. At this point, there are a shit ton of people leeching on the whole drama, fanning the flames, and writing click-baity shit that does not reflect at all what was said to begin with by the writers, or the actors (hum hum, like Variety did to begin with). Not to mention the fragile crybabies screaming that no one can be portrayed as sexist anymore because of how wOkE everything is and wOkISm is killing everything and stop supporting WoKE shit, and Netflix is so WOKE, woke woke blah blah blah. Ugh. I don't think people are so much against the idea of some stuff being different, rather apprehensive on whether or not said changes will be worth it or as good or even better. Or if said changes will completely denature the show they are supposed to give us. Which I get, but... again, we'll never know until the show comes up, so automatically dooming the thing into oblivion is... hey, to each their own, but people will not have that from me. And I sure don't flow with this whole act of wanting to convince everyone that the show is gonna sUcK (like yeah, no thanks, @ some anons) and you should really not be excited about it or just you shouldn't want to even watch the thing.

btw i still think theyre going to do unova remakes this year. for a second there i wavered a bit since i realized they could do something with johto first (hgss is older than gen v after all) but i think after indigo disk bringing unova back into the spotlight, it makes more sense to keep that going right into the next game (and there's no pattern yet for second-round remakes, since we've only gotten lgpe. could be total coincidence they did kanto again before sinnoh)
as for whether the remake will even be any good? idk lol. maybe they'll get ilca to do the bare minimum again. or maybe they'll decide not to after how much of a mess bdsp was (i feel like theyd rather not have to come up with special rules for pokemon home transfers again)
and to me legends arceus was one half of the sinnoh remake (the part where they add a lot of new stuff and bring newer pokemon to the region, which bdsp lacked) so they could do another legends game. they could continue the trend of focusing on a mythical and maybe do genesect or victini, or maybe base it on that merged dragon legendary we never really saw? idk
really hope though that they just... do a normal remake again. recreate the world and story of the original game, yes, but add to it. let us have pokemon that didn't exist when the originals came out, add new pokemon forms, etc. i really miss the old remakes being in the same style as the brand new games of the generation and able to communicate with each other, instead of this thing theyve been doing since lgpe where everything is in a weird bubble by itself
at the same time though i liked legends arceus and it'd be nice to see something like that again. my theory has been that it came about because game freak maybe got a little too ambitious working on a more traditional sinnoh remake (trying to work something like the wild area into sinnoh, maybe settling on making five of the areas more open, and ultimately deciding it was too different--or had some ideas to make it even more different--and spinning it off into something new while hiring ilca to cover the expectation for a "normal" remake since they'd be abandoning that)
and now, after having already done the split-model remake with bdsp and legends arceus, would they do the same thing again? i think with scarlet and violet's open world, having it be similarish to those games probably won't happen (also they absolutely wouldn't have terastalization and tera raids--if blueberry academy is in unova and has a special tera orb to enable all of that, that means it isn't in the rest of the region). but they could still have it be more linear while being stylistically similar to sv, as opposed to what bdsp did
ANYWAY how about this actually: have the type of remake we got with frlg/hgss/oras (where there's plenty of new stuff and you can get pokemon that didn't exist in the originals) and then throw in some kind of Dream World inspired side story area with legends arceus mechanics. that would be really cool
.......also there's the whole question of like. what the fuck are they gonna do about bw2. those games went above and beyond the usual third version deal. different story, different starting area and map progression, different protagonists. they can't simply tack on some alternate clothing options and throw in the kyurem/kami/etc forms and call it good. that would be unacceptable
would they put both games in one? would they sell the second as dlc? would the paired games, instead of black remake and white remake, be bw remake and bw2 remake? (would that even work?) or would they really just ignore bw2 as much as possible? honestly with the way game freak's been these days i feel like that might be most likely unfortunately
for the past few years ive been wanting to replay gen v, but with these remakes coming... well, in the past i've replayed rs before oras and played yellow before lgpe, and that was fine, but when i replayed platinum before bdsp came out it just felt like i was playing the same game again except worse. like i think i'd rather have played bdsp and then platinum. so i'll wait until after the remakes before doing that i think (or at least until we have an idea of what we're getting) (not that i think i'll have time to get around to playing those before then anyway)

I have to make peace with the decisions and mistakes I've made in my life. I've made few mistakes, but they have been big ones. I ran away to get married--that was a very big decision. It was one that I wouldn't make now, looking back at my life. Maybe I would take more time if I could go back in time to remake that decision. I'm not writing this because it was a bad decision. It was a sound decision, but it was one that alienated me from people who trusted me. I regret that. I feel so alone most days. I feel alone right now. I have a fear of being left behind, but I left others behind so why wouldn't I get left behind too?
It's hard to measure what will happen in life. It's hard to measure the consequences especially when I've made so many good decisions. I thought that everyone would forgive me because of all the good decisions I've made, but I was wrong. They all wanted to leave me alone. I spend so many nights crying over this decision and each night that I spend awake, I imagine these people, who were once close to me, are sleeping soundly, dreaming of better things.
I don't want to be forgotten by all of them. I hope one day they'll realize that I made decisions to be free of all the restrictions placed on my life. I didn't make any decisions to hurt them. I love them all dearly even now that all this time has passed. I think of them and I remember all of the memories we had together every single day.
I close my eyes and I swear I can hear all the songs we used to sing. I can remember all the games we used to play, but they don't think of me that way. They think of the one decision in my life that I made on such a spectacularly large scale. They think of how I left them behind for the most important decision of my life. No one will forgive me. I can sit here and give into my nostalgia and cry for hours but no one will call me when it's over. I have myself at the end of the day. I have the experiences and decisions I've made. I have to make peace with everything so I can move on. If I don't do that, I'll lose myself in the past and forget to live.

Lately.
It's been a very long while since I last posted something here. LOL. I hope you guys have been well. With all this Covid thing, one time we're all required passes, facemasks and even damn faceshields and the next thing we know, it's optional to wear facemasks and faceshields. Man, everything seems back to normal. But, we can never be too careful. My boy's turning 5 years old this year. Man, does time fly fast. One day you're changing their diapers, the next thing you know is that you're dropping them off to school, watching them run towards their classroom and saying "Hi" to their classmates. They're very curious at this age. I learned that myself. Every time I would do something, it'll start with a "What's that, dad?". After I answer, there's that follow up "Why?". And I explain to the endless "whys". It makes me better understand what I do at the same time, letting my boy know why I'm doing what I'm doing (does it make sense? LOL
They also talk a lot. Not baby talk anymore, no. But actual words. They explain what they're doing, they have their imaginary friends and they tend to name everything that needs a name.
With that, of course, means they also talk back. But not in a bad way. It's just them trying to stand their ground. Now, it doesn't mean that it's a bad attitude, you just need to think about the reason why they're talking back. You need to explain, you need to let them know and teach them the difference of right and wrong. It may happen a few times, just don't give up. I'm not a perfect parent, if there is one, I haven't met them yet. LOL But, this works for me. They're a little stubborn, too. Tell them "NO" and they will still do it. Lookin at you in the eye as they do. Tell them stop and they'll ask "Why" and while you're explaining, they're still doing what you told them to stop doing. They explore the outside world. And I mean literally, the OUTSIDE of your house. The yard. DIRT. INSECTS. TOYS THAT SHOULD BE IN DIRT. But hey, it means their imagination is as good as they are. Sometimes, you might actually catch them trying to remake a certain scene from a movie. Or them creating their own dialogues for the toys. When I see my boy like that, I think of my younger self recreating scenes from Star Wars LOL. He's joining a pageant for his school, by the way. Gives me great pride, as I was joining pageants as well back in my high school days. Hoping he could win, as well. The practice for his talent portion is also a training for us parents for patience LOL. He's fond of Dinosaurs, planets and treasure hunting. I don't know if it makes sense, but does it have to make sense? He's also a fan of pirates and loves to sing sea shanties. When I get home from work and I'm dead tired, I just want to lay down and hug my boy tight. Knowing that maybe 10 or 15 years from now, I wouldn't have the same chance. Gotta grab it while I still can. I look at his face every night while he's asleep and think to myself "This is my son. I would move the Earth out of orbit for this kid. And even though at times he drives me crazy, I'd still do anything for him to be happy." Lesson I learned and still learning is to treasure every second with them. Always. Hey, I should be doing this more often. It gets my mind off of things. LOL.

Hey so...just found out there's going to be a japanese remake of moulin rouge! Like... huh?
And sato takeru is the lead (so I'm assuming he will be Christian) which hnnnnnn????!!!!!
And that the main female lead didn't show up after the second day or sth?
(Seriously...need details on this one because I hope is not some scandal and it is just a contract issue because she changed agencies)
As always...there are thoughts (of course there are)
Like...first, moulin rouge is one of my favorite movies, and El tango de Roxanne is one of my FAVORITE scenes, so any news about remakes always get me like "mmmm.... it won't top that", the broadway version I'm completely obsessed, but that scene still doesn't compare to the original, so when I read moulin rouge japanese remake... I'm worried, do they have the rights for the songs or will they do a la broadway and will they use popular songs? I'm guessing they will use japanese songs then (if somehow tkr sings something of larc my brain would collapse...for real, but maybe they'll use an OOR song because of their connections).
Also, I love tkr but the greatest singer...he is not, although I guess Christian doesn't have to be great but passionate... so... maybe there's that.
Also also, the director, Ninagawa Mika, I only saw Helter Skelter, but oh boy the visuals... I'm gonna love them I'm sure.
So yeah....lots to process, I wish I coul read japanese to inform myself more, the translate app is confusing me...
We shall wait and see I guess
