"Rainstorms come, without you." Malleus Draconia x GN!Reader

AN: Hello, hello again~! It's me, back with another part for my Diasomnia grief series! This time, it's the Fae Prince's turn! Don't forget to like and reblog if you enjoyed this! Maybe even leave a comment for me down below! This can be read as platonic or romantic! <3 Prefect/Reader is Gender Neutral!

Wordcount: 300+ words~

Prompt: How would the Diasomnia boys react to the Prefect's death? (Which they caused inadvertently via a freak overblot on campus, where the Prefect take a fatal blow for them.)

TW: Major character death (Prefect/Yuu), Dealings with depression, grief, and delusion.

Prologue:

“Prefect-! NO-!”

Silence.

Silence descended on the prestigious Night Raven College. The usual squabbling of the students as well as the hustle and bustle had frozen in place, as if time itself was pausing, holding its breath. The funeral was held on a sunny day, a contrast to the occasion. It felt like a blur to the students of Night Raven. Was this reality? The prefect; someone who had survived several overblots, changed their lives for the better, and was an essential part of Night Raven College, was dead? How could this be...?

Malleus could not accept that the Prefect had died. Their funeral was a blur, obscured ever so slightly by gossamer silk. It was as if Malleus was underwater, unable to hear, or make anything out except for blurbs. Why was Silver crying..? Why did everyone look so… Sad? Surely the Prefect would return. They couldn’t simply die, right? His Child of Man wouldn't leave him without a goodbye… Right?

The dragon fae was in a daze as the seasons changed. Perhaps the grief, or he himself tricked his mind into thinking the Prefect was alive, but Malleus spoke as if they were still there. No one had the heart to rouse him from the waking dream he had convinced himself of. It was a delusion steeped in indigo happiness that Malleus was willingly drowning in.

“The Prefect would love this blend of tea. Perhaps I should stop by later. What do you think, Lilia?” Malleus watched Lilia’s cheery smile falter ever so slightly at the mention of his Child of Man. Why? Did he not think that the Prefect would like the tea?

“... I’m sure they would like it.” Lilia spoke, though it sounded as he was stepping carefully. Why did Lilia look like that? Like he wanted to cry? There was a stab in Malleus’ chest as he regarded his guardian carefully before a smile spread across his features. The smile did not reach his eyes, however.

“Then I shall have you deliver it in my stead, Lilia.” He needed to be alone. The stab had spread steadily throughout his chest, and in a shower of fairy lights, Malleus disappeared.

His room was dark and in slight disarray, though the fae disregarded the untidiness and simply clutched his chest with quivering hands. A pain bloomed between the cavity of his ribcage, raw and visceral. No, what was this pain? Malleus didn’t realize that he had started to cry, the droplets of tears rushing down his face like a rainstorm. Lightning and thunder accompanied the heavy downpour that was unusual for the season.

A/N: This was so much fun to write! I wanted to incorporate Kianna’s past, but have it make sense, so this is featuring the Past! Sakamaki brothers and Yui, also this is mainly focused around Malleus x Reader, just so you know! I hope you enjoy this piece, @nunezs-stuff!!

🐉 Malleus was not pleased in the slightest with what he was seeing.

🐉 You were standing beneath six men. Two had matching purple hair, two had red hair, one with blonde, and one with white and hints of pink.

🐉 He stood there and glared for a while, he knew who these men were, and what they had wanted.

🐉 Behind you was a female, maybe around late teens like you guys, but, unlike you with your stone-cold facial expression, her eyes shone with fear.

🐉 Malleus walked up and blasted the six men away from the two of you with his magic.

🐉 He heard as they stood up and groaned, one yelling at him something along the lines of, “How dare you mess with Your’s Truly?! I’ll have your head for this!”

🐉 Malleus just turned around after securing you and Yui with his tail, glaring at the men with the smallest pupils and brightest green glowing eyes.

🐉 His magic was testing the limit at the moment, anyone in a mere 5 mile radius must be feeling an earthquake.

“ Who are you exactly? And- ”

🐉 “And what are you doing with them?! They’re ours, you slimy lizard-man!” One red-haired male interrupted the fancier purple one.

“ Malleus, stand down. ”

🐉 He flinched at your touch and looked down at you from ahead. He kept his stern look, eyebrows furrowed as the finer-appearing purple-haired one walked up to them, his brothers following suit.

🐉 “My apologies on behalf of my astoundingly dumb brothers, I am Reiji Sakamaki, and those,” he pointed towards you and Yui, “are our human brides. I apologize, but you must be mistaking them with other people.”

🐉 Your boyfriend stood there and just growled under his breath, “I did not mistake them for other people, this,” he patted your head, “Is my S/O.”

🐉 “And this,” his tail wrapped tighter, more protectively around your sister, “Is my S/O’s sister. Now, I recommend you leave this vicinity, else I get mad.”

🐉 The other purple haired boy laughed wickedly, “And if you do get mad? What are you going to do? Stab us? Burn us at the streak? Pour ‘holy’ water down our bodies? How sad, that doesn’t work~”

🐉 Malleus’s stance grew very stiff, his magic growing in his hands, fire teasing the fingertips you loved to grab and kiss before resting after a midnight walk around Ramshackle while Yuu and Grim laid asleep.

“ Mr. Draconia! What is the meaning of this?! ”

🐉 “Waka-sama! Who are these men? Did they dare try harming you?! How dare you try harming Waka-sama?!” Sebek’s familiar tone rings through Crewel’s stern one.

🐉 “Backup? How sad, I guess we’ll just have to go through them all, huh, Ayato?” Laito teased. Ayato turned to his brother and smirked, “It seems so, Laito.”

🐉 “Enough!” Trein’s voice screamed, his wand out, wrapping the six brothers up in tight magic-made bubbles.

🐉 “Y/N, who are these men?” Silver asked you. You just glared at them, causing them to tense up, you had never glared at them with such fierceness before, it kinda made them a mixture of intimidated and turned on.

🐉 “They are the people who ridded my sister of her life, the one person, the only one, who I held in my heart.” You answered, making your fellow Night Raven College students shiver with your dark tone.

🐉 Malleus sighed deeply, causing slight amounts of smoke to exit his nose and mouth. He was getting angrier by the second they floated there in their separate bubbles.

🐉 “What do we do with them?” Ace asked.

“ Punish them. Get rid of them. Whatever causes the most pain. ”

🐉 Yui spoke up and grabbed your hand, reaching over Malleus’ tail.

“ Did you say I died? ”

🐉 The brothers began to scream, but not before a male’s cheery-sounding voice echoed over Yui’s soft one.

🐉 “Well, well, well. What have we here? My dearest Y/N, aren’t these the men who harmed you back in your world?” Crowley asked.

🐉 You sighed and nodded as his smile grew more and more forced-appearing.

🐉 “Well, thankfully, we have a spare room in the basement where each of these unfortunate boys can stay.” He answered.

🐉 “Crowley, are you sure that’s the smartest idea?” Crewel asked, assisting Trein in holding the boy’s bubbles intact and keeping their voices muted.

“ Certainly. ”

summary: What if yuu wasn’t the first magicless student to come to NRC? Crowley sent the reader back to their home world a while ago despite their protests. Now they’ve finally managed to return, only to find out that things changed and they’d been replaced.

The surface of the mirror was bubbling, almost like boiling water in a pot. It looked as if there was something under the surface of the mirror struggling to get out, making ripples appear all over, almost as if the glass had turned into the sea itself. The floor length mirror took the appearance of an abyss, as the magic affecting the mirror was making it absorb light instead of reflecting it like a regular mirror should. Yet despite all this all was quiet, not even their breath being heard as they stepped through the mirror.

Initially, joy coursed through their veins upon recognising the famed mirror chamber. Even the slight disappointment upon seeing the lack of people in the room hadn’t managed to lower their spirits, if only they knew what was expecting them. They slowly made their way out of the room, traversing the dark hallways of the school, hoping to encounter anybody they might be at the very least acquainted with. Yet nobody appeared as they continued to venture deeper into the school. After a while of wandering around unsuccessfully they decided to go to the mirror chamber, hoping that searching the dorms would leave them with a satisfying result.

The walk back to the chamber was unpleasant due to the less-than-optimal circumstances. Despite not wishing to accept it negative thoughts were clouding their judgment, almost like whispers in their head, reminding them of the worst. Their footsteps resounded along the long and winding corridors, the quiet unbearable, as foul thoughts filled the silence. Perhaps they’d been gone too long, or maybe failed to reach the proper world. Whatever the truth was, they were currently blinded to it as insecurities took over their rationality.

Eventually the mirror chamber was within sight, making the pathways to the dorms visible. Even if it weren’t for their wish to venture to Diasomnia it was as if a force beyond their comprehension was calling them towards the dorm’s entrance. Due to its sheer size, they had to continue to walk before even nearing the actual castle inside of the dorm’s realm, the walkway was long which allowed for more negative thoughts to brew inside their mind. But the distant sound of chatter brought back some hope into their heart.

And so they quickly but quietly made their way into the Diasomnia dorm lounge, only to remain frozen upon lying eyes onto the sight in front of them. Confusion was evident on their features, yet they foolishly remained hopeful for perhaps they’d misunderstood. Maybe a chat with a friend would shed some light into the situation, Lilia always did know everything about any conceivable situation. They reluctantly made their way forward, joining the smaller fae’s side. There was no time to clarify the nature of the situation, as Malleus kissed “his child of man’s” hand while gazing into that person's eyes, the same way he had once done for them. He acted with this person, the same way he was with them, the one who'd been his beloved, now forgotten as he exchanged meaningful glances with the one known as Yuu.

All they could do was turn to Lilia and finally let the sadness in their heart show on their face and ask “How long was I gone?” The only response he uttered was much too heartbreaking for its literal meaning. “Too long.”

I think I remember I saw your old blogs being deactivated that's why I couldn't find the old zombie post till now 💀.

But all that aside I'm here for ZOMBIE AU CRUMBS. I'll just give my theories about it and as well headcannons.

Jack is the first person we come across in the first year group in this au. If according all into the plot ( albeit slightly different ) we would meet Grim after the shade attack in an abandoned house? Though I'd like to think he has the Gene X virus but he's immune to it just like how Grim eats blot in the original twst wonderland.

If everything follows the plot of who we meet next, we would meet Adeuce on a random scavenge hunt for food,water and weapons. Though they're probably got caught up with the shades until Yuu saved their butts

I've been waiting all damn day to answer this ask! 😤

But I'm simply going to go down the list of theories and maybe plans I have. But please ask questions, I love sharing for about AUs.

| OVERVIEW |

#1) Will overblots be the people who have Gene X virus? They probably are trying to find the cure for themselves bc the virus doesn't take over people with high magic that easy, it's a battle of time for them?

In simple terms no. The Gene X Virus which is the main known thing that caused the zombie outbreak, is because it feasts and mutates in people with low levels of magic. So someone like Leona, becoming a zombie/shade is little to none due to his high levels.

The Housewardens overblotting would be because of them purposely keeping their magic levels high, so not only for themselves but others around them or entire territories. Which would wear them down overtime due to excessive you.

Shades/Zombies cannot only hear extremely well, they're fully capable of sense magic, and the weaker the magical person, the more alluring. Though in large groups of Shades, this can easily be an advantage or disadvantage since shades, even dead, have slight magically energy and can confuse each other or easily tell the difference between human and shade. Theyre intelligent.

So overblots would work the same as they usually do, with stress, overwhelming situations, trauma, and overusing magic.

I didn't mention this in the overview, but overblots also are more common, and that phantoms are also extremely dangerous and are immune to shades. There are legitimate cults who purposely overblot, plus the selling of overblot harden matter.

#2) Would we randomly meet Malleus during a shade chase? I'd assumed he saved us in exchange for company?

Without giving too much away, Malleus under zero circumstances is not leaving Briar Valley Territory. He is one of the strongest mages and has some of the strongest magic, his existence alone guarantees a lot of safety for Briar Valley, from both Shades and Phantoms. There aren't really any weak nor low level magic users in Briar Valley, but there are a few and to avoid total out war between fae and humans, Malleus is a pinnacle and absolutely important he stays within his territory.

So if him and MC were to meet, it would be due to Crowley sending them to Briar Valley. It would be an honest Malleus being the damsel and MC being the knight that saves him. If anything his freedom would be the catalyst to finding a cure.

3) I can imagine Crowley giving us dangerous task in this au💀 but we ace it...barely

NRC is definitely the worst place to be due to it's overpopulation and common run in with Shades. If it wasn't for Octavinelle being in the city, NRC would've been overrun. Crowley putting you on dangerous tasks would be common, do to NRC being that horrible and dangerous.

They would be the next you meet, but the order of Overblots are random. If you meet Ace and Deuce it would either be because they've been sent out scouting and got in a dangerous situation and you've saved them. Which would lead you to eventual having to go to the Queendom of Roses to drop them off.

5) Jack is the first person we come across in the first year group in this au. Skipping over the first part of plot purposes.

The Gene X Virus is removing all magic basically, using it as a life source and once that life source is gone, the person is dead and is a vessel that leads the virus to find another host. So Grim wouldn't be immune, but merely not a target but moreso a shield that hides away MC magiclessness. So he basically covers MCs weak presence with his. Now this doesn't completely prevent MC from getting caught by shades of their loud and drawing attention. But stops them from being able to track them.

Idea: Because Yuu is poor af and has no items of her own

At first, it started as a small gift, like a pen from a brand Ace really liked and an extra ruler from deuce as they saw that Yuu only had a sparse amount of stationary

Then there was a bag pack from Cater who won it from a giveaway on MagiCam and promptly gave it to Yuu cause he had no use for it anyway

Trey got Yuu and Grim a toothbrush set with matching cups

Then, Yuu received a handkerchief with some embroidered roses from Riddle

“Do I have a sign on my back that writes ‘accepting gifts’ ?”

But it doesn’t stop there as the next gift she receives is an old coat from Jack who notices that Yuu doesn’t have any winter clothing

Ruggie, seeing this, goes along and adds in a scarf he made that was lying around

“Why are you looking at me like that, Leona-senpai?”

Leona seems to grumble something before throwing a fleece blanket onto Yuu’s face

Yuu is seriously considering the theory of an invisible sign on her back

Azul’s face of shock when she said she kept all her money on her was one she’ll never forget and that’s why she returned to her room with a brand new safe box

Receiving yet another gift being a pair of shoes from Floyd that looked really new and expensive as this was one of his older pair of shoes that he couldn’t wear anymore due to his growth spurt

It was also expected of Jade to give something as this point, seeing as everyone else chimed in with a gift and Yuu got a thermos flask that Jade uses often for his hiking trips

Even Grim’s noticing the weird uptick in gifts

Kalim was pretty adamant on giving Yuu a carpet to decorate the dorm and not being able to refuse him, Yuu just thanked him for it

Hearing that Yuu really liked his cooking, Jamil passed her a cookbook he used for the meals with some notes written on how he prepares it, Yuu looked as if she was going to cry right then and there

The ghosts were talking to Yuu about how much the ramshackle dorm has changed from the new additions of Yuu’s gifts

On one of the flying class, Vil came over to tidy up Yuu’s hair with some additional bobby pins he had as he couldn’t stand Yuu’s constant fidgeting as her hair keeps getting in her eyes

Yuu also had a sigh of relief after class as the train of gifts had finally stop, or not

Rook passed a really high class-looking bag to her with a message that it was a gift from Vil and him and Yuu’s wishes were just not going to happened

Looking inside the bag was a medium size accessory box with a purple hue that had a mirror built in and a small amount of accessories like hair ties and pins inside

Epel also passed along apple products from his hometown due to receiving a whole new box

Yuu is getting a reputation from being really friendly with the seniors and the dorm leaders

Knowing Idia’s habit of using an electronic device in place of himself for meetings, Yuu finds it strange that it was drenched in water so she picks it up and dries it before returning it back to Idia

“Hello? Idia-senpai are you there? . . Oh, oh okay. I’ll leave it at the door.”

Ortho shows up the next day in front of ramshackle dorm with what Yuu is dreading to be another gift

“I can’t possible accept this, it’s too much, . .I really don’t,”

So, Ortho just shoves the gift in Yuu’s hands and speeds away, leaving Yuu and Grim to stare into the empty space

Inside the box has a handwritten note along with a watch which Idia says to be one of his earlier models and a thank you

If the trend where to continue at least there was only one dorm left, right?

Sebek was seriously contemplating giving Yuu a portrait of Malleus as he didn’t want to lose against the other dorms in terms of gifts

Silver and Lilia had to talk him down from giving anything Malleus-related

“Who wouldn’t be happy to receive a portrait of Malleus-sama????”

In the end, Diasomnia held a meeting to decide what kind of gift to give Yuu

“I have a feeling someone is talking about me, weird.”

When Yuu sees Sebek approaching her with Silver and Lilia and a huge gift in tow, Yuu has never dreaded living that much

Before Yuu could close the door, Sebek’s loud voice has already called Yuu’s name

There were numerous students behind carrying what seems to be furniture and as Lilia begins to introduce each of them, Yuu feels like she is getting dizzy from thinking of the price of each of the items

There was a wardrobe, a dressing table with a matching stool and a study desk

All made of the finest wood originating from the Valley of Thorns

Yuu doesn’t remember how many times she thanked them and the other thing was that all of them seemed really proud for no reason?

Malleus only hears of their actions after a few days as no one bothered to invite Malleus to the meeting they held to discuss what to give Yuu

He thinks to himself that maybe he should gift something as well, and when he finally realizes it, Malleus was already standing at the door of Ramshackle dorm

“Tsunotarou? Why are you standing there, come in and have some tea.”

After a cup of tea and some treats, Malleus finally asks what Yuu would like as a gift

“It’s the first time someone asked me what I wanted, everyone else just gave me something they wanted me to have. Hmm, how about a small light that doesn’t go out? Like a nightlight? It’s really annoying getting up in the night when it’s so dark.”

Malleus immediately gets to work as he conjures a small metal lantern with a handle at the top, he places just a bit of his own flames within it

He hands it to Yuu who looked quite amazed with the lantern

“If it ever goes out, I’ll light it again for you.”

“Thanks Tsunotarou~”
