broke: stede obviously topped that night, he not only manhandled ed in but was also the one to take off his shirt first and close the curtains. ed let him have the reins, he was already into that when he heard the "captain voice" before. he also knew stede needed some sort of anchor and control and reassurance after ned low played into his insecurities and to show stede the pet thing wasn't true at all. he also couldn't say i love you back to stede in comfort and surrendering him like that was a way of showing it. this was also a way of showing stede he was the captain. there was also the oil bottle and the rings by stede's side on the bedside windowsill in the breakfast scene.

woke: ed topped that night. stede was reeling, terrified, horrified and high on adrenaline, had just killed someone (for ed or not) and needed all the comfort he could get. he initiated physical intimacy (either thought that was what a tougher man would do or it was out of avoidance and in desperation to feel something better the moment he saw ed -- who symbolized comfort and safety) instead of wanting to talk about it and ed saw that, and being the more sexually experienced one in the relationship, wanted to quite literally get stede (an overthinker) to a state of too fucked out to think anymore for that night and take care of him so he couldn't harm himself with those thoughts - as ed also knew that was all he could do to help stede for the moment. tldr he service topped stede stupid. that's why he's the one bringing breakfast the next morning and stede's sitting crooked.

If the Young Wolf officiated Crucible matches, I think their voicelines would be a mix between Gambit and Iron Banner (oof whiplash for the people used to Shaxx screaming encouragement. They get a significantly quieter handler they probably thought was a myth)

Like. It'd be smooth and have references to their accomplishments and your Class (Hold the line, Titan. Let them break on your shield.)

But also a darker tone ("They've fucked up." if you get heavy ammo, uncontested, or a simple "Let them run.") and a mixture of jokes/puns and ominous stuff based on subclass when you cast a super ("String em up, Hunter" if you're Threadrunner/"Heaven's heading to war" if you're a Dawnblade)

They'd definitely still get excited on a kill streak/ending one (They’re fighting over rubble until they get out of your way!)

Maybe if you got the We Ran Out Of Medals, they'd say something like "Now you're a queen/king I'd bow to" (i cannot forget when Mara expected them to bow and then gave up on it, back in Lost. i died)

I think they'd speak sort of like Saladin, but with a lighter tone (most times), and an audible smirk like Drifter.

Other lines I liked but left out:

How do you feel about the implications from Medusa that Poseidon uh- kinda raped Sally? I'm personally staring in disbelief.

i 100% did not get that vibe at all? i rewatched the scene and i'm looking at the transcript and:

Athena was everything to me. I worshipped her, I prayed to her, I made offerings...she never answered. Not even an omen to suggest she appreciated my love. I wasn't like you, sweetheart. I was you. I would have worshipped her that way for a lifetime....in silence. But then one day, another god came, and he broke that silence. Your father. The Sea God told me that he loved me; I felt as though he saw me in a way I had never felt seen before. But then Athena declared that I had embarrassed her and I needed to be punished. Not him. Me. ... The gods want you to believe that, that they are infallible. But they only want what all bullies want. They want us to blame ourselves for their own shortcomings.

that's medusa's story monologue and the only thing there that implies the rape story is the "...i needed to be punished. not him. me" but nothing else she says implies that...and considering they went with a different iteration of the myth her, i don't think that's what she was implying in any way (and especially because it's disney). she was more so saying that athena should have punished poseidon if she was mad at anyone, because he esentially took the attention that medusa was willingly giving to athena, and that's why athena was mad. in this case, athena's shortcoming was not accepting the love medusa gave her willingly, and then getting angry and punishing medusa when she placed it somewhere else.

Even here, any implication of that you could gather is in the "targeted by the same monster" which. i don't think is what we're supposed to gather, especially with the line percy says. because he's right. if that's what happened, then sally wouldn't have talked about poseidon the way she did; she wouldn't have been crying in the car at montauk; she wouldn't be wearing the matching pearl necklace. i think, in this iteration, what medusa meant by monster is a god. her whole thing here is trying to convince the trio that the gods are the real monsters because they don't care about what happens to anyone other than themselves

and then there's this line

And you, you could have shown your father what it means to stand up for someone you love.

she's saying that poseidon should've stood up for her because he said he loved her...but he didn't, and let her take the punishment---which, yeah, it's completely shitty that poseidon would've just let that happen to medusa, but it doesn't lend itself to thinking that he raped sally in the context of the show. like at all.

the whole medusa interaction is her trying to teach the gods a lesson---that they shouldn't be above everyone just because they're gods, that the trio just sees monsters where they should maybe see people with a story, people that their parents made that way, people they shouldn't hate just because they're told to, because if they do then they're no better than their parents. i think the show is really playing into the whole "the gods are shitty" thing that luke has going on (which i kind of really enjoy im ngl....im SO interested to see it if we get to tlo) and not making them out to be these perfect beings, because they're not. they're corrupt and shitty, but unfortunately they're better than the alternative. and medusa is simply pointing out that just because someone is a monster doesn't mean they're a monster, and just because someone is a god doesn't mean they're good (@ sally in ep 1).

#uh maybe i completely misinterpreted all of this but??? i watched it multiple times and I still don't get it #like it seems they put specific words and phrases in there to make it known that that's exactly what DIDN'T happen. #even in the books they never used that version of the myth #they used the one where Poseidon and medusa got it on in athena's temple and that's why athena cursed her #which both ways we end up with medusa's story being the same #except in the book she wanted to kill annabeth and keep percy as a statue because she was still 'sweet on [his] dad' #so they really only changed the parts necessary for medusa to make the point about the gods not being inherently good #which obviously show percy is already on that page because well...all of episode 2

I was suddenly intensely compelled to draw Simon as a Pokémon trainer so this exists now d(•w• ).

I initially was going to make him a Dark type trainer since Dark is super effective against Ghost and most of what he hunts would fall under that I guess, also a lot of his designs have some similar color schemes as other Dark type things, BUT I realized that, surprisingly, Ghost actually fits wayyyyyy better. Ghost is also super effective against Ghost (I have always found this funny lol) and has both more Pokémon that make sense character wise as well as moves like “Curse”. Mimikyu’s whole thing is that it looks up to and wants to be just as adored as Pikachu and idk I think Simon would kinda vibe with that a lot. Also the whole Litwick line and like ya know Castlevania games and their candles, the chandeliers, it just fits. Simon’s Quest also has the Mysterious Woman who appears with the mist in a graveyard and may or may not be a ghost who helps Simon so that tracks too. He also just seems like he’d spend a lot of time hangin around in a cemetery idk how to explain that.

His design is mostly just an altered Simon’s Quest outfit, but I added elements of his other designs to it like bits of red in his hair, the cape from the manual drawings (and the smash bros teaser I guess lol), the fur and boots from Ayami’s design, a ripped skirt thing like the smash bros design (I’m sure other designs have had something similar too I just can’t think about which rn), the armband thingys and the headband from his NES cover and X68000 designs, etc etc. I imagine that he’d probably have the cape down most of the time and come off as a more brown focused design (I didn’t color them all the way cause I didn’t wanna get all my colored pencils out oof) and say things that kinda mislead the player into thinking he’s maybe a Fighting type trainer or something. Then when actually battling him he pushes the cape back and oh wow big reveal!

Yeah idk, this was fun tho. Maybe I’ll draw some other Belmonts as trainers too eventually, I have some ideas already hmmm. Also it is so so hard to remember what I have and have not posted here, especially since I know I’ve posted this elsewhere so I keep feeling like I’ve already written all of this before ｡(ﾟ´ω`ﾟ)ﾟ｡. So if I’ve already posted something please tell me, my memory sucks most of the time and I’d greatly appreciate that!
