So a few of you are okay with me talking about otomes on my blog. Thank you for the support.

I'll begin my talk about dating sims by sharing the love interests who are currently my faves.

From Variable Barricade (with the best trashfire husbandos): Shion Mayuzumi. A beautiful man that must be kept and loved. Also a little... questionable in his courting methods?

From Collar x Malice (or as I like to call it "Pet Play and Terrorists"): Mineo Enomoto. A goofy but earnest guy who carries with him guilt as he struggles to define justice.

From Winter's Wish: Spirits of Edo (Tools to Men: The Game): Kinji. An onnagata kabuki performer (he plays women parts, exclusively) and I love the way he teases mc.

From Cafe Enchante (a.k.a. the Monsterf*cker Cafe game): Il Fado de Rie. A fallen angel who adores dating sims (omg, same!) and the cutest cinnamon roll to ever grace the screen.

From Piofiore: Fated Memories (the Taisho Era Italy game): Orlok. An informant and a bit of an assassin on the side. Connected to the church and has religious trauma.

From Virche Evermore: Error Salvation (death... so much death...): Lucas Proust. The kindly (on the verge of death) teacher who isn't all that he seems to be. He gets done so dirty...

From Code Realize: Guardian of Rebirth (by far my favorite series from all that I've played): Saint Germain. He's just... everything. I can't say too much because ooooohhhh! Do you want me to blab on spoilers?

I don't know how to express how much I love this man-

He's such a nerd and honestly when you're with him, you're gonna have to deal with the rambles

It's not like they are annoying or anything, it's just that he can talk, a lot

He'll be talking so animatedly and then he'll turn to you to take a breather

Just because he talks a lot doesn't mean he won't ever listen to you

He loves seeing you talk passionately about the things you enjoy and will try his damndest to learn whatever he can so he can conversate with you

Kagami absolutely loves it when you show up at his work and bring him coffee or a homemade bento, it really brightens his day

When he has the time, he tries to do the same for you and when he can't, he will make you breakfast on days he's off

He can make the perfect coffee and tea, hands down

As soon as he knows how you like it, he can perfectly replicate it

His genmates love you and rope you in when they playfully tease him

If Found...

Review

Long time ago, I wanted to do a ranking of all Annapurna Interactive game, and I had a template and everything, then I got busy.

I wanted to do this, because I reviewed pretty much every game Annapurna Interactive put out until about 2020, and I thought why not finish the job? The ones I'm missing were flower (although that probably shouldn't count since it was first released outside) Ashen, Wattam (which are both games which stray from what people usually think of when they think about Annapurna games)

So, the only one that I'm really missing, except all the 'new' games, was If Found... which was never on my radar... until now.

That was because as part of the final collabs, Melissa played this game with Mayuzumi Kai, and if you know I am writing this a month after the posted date, the significance of the collab become much bigger and poignant. This made me compel to review the game.

So let's do that.

If Found... is definitely in the wheelhouse of Annapurna. It's LGBT story (you see why Meli and Mayuyu played this) about erasing memories and returning home. (Can't find a better game for Meli and Mayuyu than that! Seriously... Mayuyu is so brilliant at times.)

We start with this astronaut finding out that Planet X is actually a black hole! (Cool idea, but unlikely...) But really it's about a physicist who finished their masters, gets bullied and has a hard time maintaining relationships. (Is this about me?)

Oh, we're in... let's see, Ireland! Cool! Irish people have such characters to them, and that make for great drama, although it is hard to get into sometimes. Irish language also has such odd subtitles which probably didn't come across translations very well.

Love the band character, it really gives the comfort and cuteness the characters need in the story. Music adds nicely, although it might be too intrusive at times. Visuals are nice, the hand-drawn style can easily transform from horror to comfy.

Some of the nuance in the story might get lost with the presentation, but it's not really hard to get back on track. Story is relatively short, but it's not like it's not worth the ticket or the time.

As for the ending, I was miffed that Fergal wasn't redeemed and only got worse as the story continues. And I also felt that the ending was a bit too happy too quickly. It would be a bit of cliche to have Kasio pass away in that damp house, but honestly that would have made the ending a hit more nicely. I don't think showing a picture or the notebook would have changed Mam, but the death could.

I know this was a very rushed review, so I'll end with a note. Death ending would emphasize Fergal as mean, him saying good riddance and I'm glad that he's dead and whatnot, Mam would probably open up since her worries were tied in the future, and now that future doesn't exist anymore, she could appreciate Kasio as she was. And we'll have Colum, Shans, Jack, and Maggie reflect on their life and the part they had with Kasio's life. I think it works out better...

Then again, it would definitely be a cliche. Also McHugh, accountant from Mayo? Seems like Kasio was talking to her long-gone dad. Pretty sure that was the interpretation for the science fiction?

Stepped into the moving train, Mayuzumi Chihiro talking on his phone.

"___ said she had something to do this evening. We'll be heading there next week."

"I see. I'll look foward to you two then." Mayuzumi could hear his mother quipped happily at the mention of his next visit. "Tell hi for ___chan will you Chihiro? Oh and happy birthday for you honey."

Saying his thanks, Mayuzumi cut the phone call short as another message come in.

It's from his former basketball team mates. Started from Akashi's early message, Hayama, Mibuchi and even Nebuya sent congratulatory message for his birthday.

No doubt Akashi told them to. Mayuzumi scroll down his phone with expresionless face. It's a wonder how that certain Rakuzan's former captain manage to remember him after all these years (since everyone barely even notice his presence at all). Though he should admit that 'normal' never goes together with Akashi Seijuurou.

His lip curved into small smile. Slightly amused, Mayuzumi typed a short replies for them before his eyes landed to certain name on his phone screen.

It's odd.

Mayuzumi Chihiro has never been a fussy person to begin with. But when the clock already ticked to seven in evening and he's not receiving even a single message from you, he began to question everything. Considering how worked up you were last year from surprising him at work to throwing a small party for his birthday, of course he can't help but notice something is wrong this time.

...Maybe she's just busy.

Trying to calm his wandering mind (thanks to that best seller mystery novels he finished reading last night), Mayuzumi sent his fifth 'where r u?' message to your number.

...

No reply.

Sighed, Mayuzumi slips his phone to his pocket.

Seems he just have to go home as fast as he can then.

Mayuzumi steps home to find it on it's usual stage. Seems like you decided not to glitter it with grey sparkles this year.

Should he be worried or happy....?

"___? Are you home?"

A loud crash followed with surprised shriek, making him lifted his eyebrow.

So you're indeed at home.

"___," Mayuzumi walked closer to where the voice is when you suddenly leapt out appearing after him.

"C-Chihiro welcome home! I-It's a surprise! Did you got off work early today??"

"It's my usual time arriving home, ___. And honestly..." He scanned you briefly. "What exactly are you doing?"

You're what his image as color disaster. White everywhere, yellow splatter on your apron, brown streaks on your cheeks, red hue on your palms. He didn't want to be rude, but his eyes must show his feeling as your cheek redden in embarrassment.

"Um... Nothing?"

Mayuzumi raised his eyebrow.

Sighed, you rolled your hair unconciously. "FINE. I'm... experimenting. I guess...?"

"What exactly are you making?" Mayuzumi is gonna steps into the kitchen but you stood on his path, blocking him. "___."

You smiled nervously under his warning gaze. "It's nothing worth seeing, so it's better if you- C-Chihiro!"

Using that chance to pass through you, Mayuzumi stood in the middle of your kitchen.

"Geez, I told you not to bug in. Come on..."

Listening to your protest half hearted, he take a look around.

It looks normal. Nothing out of ordinary. So why are you insist on keeping him for not coming inside?

Oh...?

At the corner of kitchen cabinet there's a large pile of plastic bag.

"C-Chihiro don't-!"

Ignoring your protest, he opened up the bag only to stare at pile of... brown chunks in front of him. Some of it are hard and some are even in dark black color. Smell of burnt sugar and butter hit his nose.

This and those...

It doesn't need deduction to reach to one conclusion.

"Did you try to bake a cake, ___?"

Standing nervously under his gaze, you laughed awkwardly. "If it's even worth to call them cake.... Yes...".

This explained his unanswered messages throughout the day. Judging from the amount of that thing, you must spent all your day on the kitchen.

So... You're trying to bake a cake for him.

"Stop looking at them like that." Sighed you took the result of your work today from his hand. "I'll throw it away. Akashi-kun sent us a cake so we can enjoy it instead of this thing. I'm sorry... I know I should not have tried but your mom encourage me to make it for you this year and..."

At this you stopped rambling to take a deep breath. "...I'm sorry Chihiro..."

Eyes down in shame you bit your lip in frustation. Why can't you do anything well at all?

"Fool..."

Your eyes started to water at his desperate sigh. "I-I know right... I-"

"...what did you take me for?" Mayuzumi's large palm landed on top of your head, making you stopped your sullen mumble. "There's nothing worth apologizing. Stop it."

"B-But..."

"If you're in my position will you upset with me, ___?"

"E-Eh?"

"I'm ignorant. Selfish. And rude." As if ignoring the confused look at your face, that boyfriend of yours continued his words. "I can't do housechores. I hate talking and I can't even make my own fiancee believe in herself." Your hold breath as Mayuzumi's face zoomed out stopping only a couple of inch from yours. "...Do you think of me as a failure, ___?"

He...? A failure...?

"No! Of course not Chihiro!" Without hesitation, you shook your head. "You are never be a failure to me. Chihiro, I..."

"That's what I feel too." Cut your words with slight smug smile on his face, Mayuzumi poked your cheek. "Everything you want to say to me right on this second, just turned it back to you. That way, even with that brain of yours, you'll understand right...?"

Because he's not a man with words...

Because he just can't find any word that worth enough to express how precious you're to him...

...He can only make you understand with your own words.

After all, your words are always the one who helped him to be who he is now.

"I understand..."

Mayuzumi silently sighed in relief when you finally let your defense down and tackle him on a hug. He returned your embrace, warping you in his arms without words. "Thank you... and sorry. It's not something nice to deal with an insecure fiancee on your birthday right?" You smiled, leaning on his chest to listen to his steady heartbeat.

"...Anything is better than those silver glitters last year."

"Hey!" You gave him the best glare you can manage. Not that it can be scary to begin with since you had to hold back your laugh with smile.

"...It's the truth though."

His serious expression just makes you laughed more. "Silly, Chihiro. But really..." Stood on your tip toes, you circled your hand on his neck landing a short peck on his cheek. "Happy birthday... I love you..."

"Hn... I know."

Returning the kiss with more affectionate one, Mayuzumi is once again reminded that your smile is the true gift he always expects on his birthday every year for the rest of his life.

But in Aegis: The First Mission, she activated in 1999. But the years are near enough that it doesn't cause a generation confusion so she's gen z.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if the charming host of Nijisanji to be in a relationship, right?

Fuwa Minato is naturally a romantic person, always wanting to entertain those he accompanies, a quality feature of a host.

He likes to pamper you and care for your personal needs. He will ask if you have eaten your meals, check up on where you are and what you’re doing.

Like the gentleman he is, Minato would have your arm looped with his when you two are walking outside, holding the door open for you to walk in, or holding your bags when shopping. He’s also your personal shopping list, you always ask him what groceries or necessities.

Because Minato’s job requires him to stay in one place for a long time, he likes to plan dates or outings with you. He would take you to private locations like a botanical garden or an onsen place for a relaxing day. He wants the two of you to relax since he’s always staying up late streaming and you stubbornly staying awake as well (with the reason of physically “accompanying” him but he’s not convinced).

Though as professional and serious he looks, he’s quite the man-child.

His attitude ranges from wearing a proper suit for a fancy restaurant date to holding you in his arms and following you everywhere in your home, even following you to the bathroom. Don’t worry, he’ll be like a dog and just stare at you while you do your business.

“Fuwacchi, can you not?”

“But I miss my darling a lot, don’t you miss me?”

“Minato…you left for only two hours…”

He would also take pictures of items and say ‘it reminds me of you’ and buy it without another thought. There's a whole shelf in your room specifically for gifts from Minato.

One of the gifts was a necklace with an intricate heart design and there were two gems in the middle. He had it custom made to put an amethyst and your gem in it. Your reaction was so bright that he dramatically clutched his heart and crouched like you pierced his chest with that blinding smile.

Minato: Note to self: Buy (Name) more couple themed gifts.

This man is your biggest hype man ever. Whenever you say you want to try something, whether it be games, clothes, products or food, Minato would encourage you to try out new things. He would be right next to you to do them. He will sit next to you while you play a game, giving tips and tricks from his experience. He will give his honest opinions on some pairing of clothes, but will give his biggest cheers to ones he finds the most fitting. Whatever you buy, he would also want to try them out with you.

Fuwa Minato tries to keep his life quite private but among his co-workers in Nijisanji, everyone knows he’s in a relationship with you (as expected of Fuwacchi). You are closest with the rest of Mescherz since Saegusa Akina and Mayuzumi Kai often come to your home to do collabs. You’re also close with Kaida Haru, treating him as if he’s your younger brother.

Every time there’s a party that Minato can bring a plus one, he would want the both of you to show up in the most glamorous way. He just has some kind of power to show up every where and be so attractive, even more when he has you beside him.

The two of you would stay right next to each other, arm linked and a glass of non-alcoholic drink (both of you can’t drink sadly) in your other hand, talking to friends and coworkers. You both look like those picturesque that always look so perfect.

But even this host can be enamored by you. Your loyalty, passion, and selflessness drive him towards you. Anything you do is so admirable to him, from being able to adapt with his work schedule, to making his favorite rice dish when he has an unfortunate day at work. Just being in your presence picks his mood up everytime.

Minato loved that you supported him all the way back when he was just looking for a job. He initially wanted to do something to benefit the two of you, but you reassured that he should do something he enjoys. Then he found the perfect job at Nijisanji.

The reason why he became a host for Nijisanji was because he wanted to make you smile everyday. He wanted to have a job where you could see him and watch what he’s doing. It also gives him the reassurance that you’re always watching him and he can always make you smile.

This job was perfect for Minato because he could bring smiles upon thousands of people as well, entertaining people in his charming way. But the host's never ending wish is always wanting to see a smile on your face.

Mayuzumi Kai

Mayuyu is very gentle both emotionally and physically.

He always speaks to you in a very soft-spoken way. It might sound like how he usually speaks but as someone who has spent a long time with him, you can tell the differences apart.

He’s blunt when telling you his opinions or something that might hurt you, but it doesn’t really hurt you that much.

Because he says it in a way that you know he’s telling the truth and not just doing it to intentionally hurt you.

Physically too he’s gentle. When holding your hand, hugging you or handing over something to you, he’s always gentle about it to make sure it won’t hurt you.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

He loves hugs.

He won’t hug you randomly but mostly only after coming home from work or basically when he sees you after a very long day.

Obviously, his hugs are very gentle and they’re also warm.

He prefers to hug you by your waist and resting his forehead against your shoulder.

Also gently pats you on the waist before pulling away from the hug.

Saegusa Akina

Emotionally, Akina is very gentle.

Unlike how he is on stream, he makes sure to use a gentle voice whenever he’s “debating” with you or sharing his opinion on something so as to not come off mean and rude.

He also tends to slightly sugar coat things when he knows it might hurt you.

Being emotionally gentle with you is something he very much prioritises in the relationship.

Physically though, Akina can be quite rough.

Due to his cheerful personality, whenever he gets excited and drags you by your wrist, it tends to be a little rough but it’s never too rough.

And things like that never happen often since he most of the time makes sure to be physically gentle too.

It only ever happens when he gets excited but that’s something adorable of him.

Absolutely loves hugs.

Even among his colleagues he loves hugging so just imagine how much he’s gonna do it with you.

Whenever he sees the chance, he’ll wrap his arms around you immediately.

Fuwa Minato

He always wraps one of his arms around your waist, the other hand resting on the back of your head as you bury your face against his chest/neck.

Developed a habit of kissing your cheek before pulling away from the hug.

he usually could do the majority of his work from home so he helped out with housework as much as possible

at first, it took him a while to get used to not having anyone go after him and clean anything he’d touch, but it was a welcomed change in his eyes

whenever you finished your work he’d cuddle with you for a while, during which he’d ask you how everything went and if you had no desire to talk about work-related work he’d simply proceed to talk about the most random things that he knew would cheer you up

spending time with you was his biggest priority so whenever the weekend came around the two of you would plan some kind of activity (both indoors or outdoors…whichever you preferred on that day)

surprisingly, he was more proactive in doing stuff together than you anticipated, and when you asked him about it he explained that it was because he was so overjoyed of being by the side of his loved ones and his newfound freedom gave him the extra push he needed to be that giddy about everything

he was so observant that even the slightest change didn’t go unnoticed

it was thanks to that trait of his that you found out you were pregnant

the moment you told him the result of the many tests you did he smiled warmly at you and wrapped you in the perhaps tightest hug you’ve received from him to date

during the preparations for your new family member, he’d go all out in his attempts to give his little one the best possible welcome, and if it weren’t for you to reign him in who knows what he might’ve done

but he wasn’t as calm about it as you might think he was

Akashi was brought up in a rather harsh household so he was plagued by bad thoughts that forced him to think he might not be suited as a father

these and many other similar thoughts haunted him for quite a while and even when you couldn’t remove all of them, his trusted friends and former teammates did an outstanding job at helping you out

so by the end of your pregnancy, he had gained a good amount of confidence that he’d do a great job alongside you and raise a child in who the two of you can take great pride in

needless to say, during the time you went into labor he was with you till the very end and when you had fallen asleep from exhaustion he refused to leave your side

when the doctor handed the baby to him he was overjoyed and couldn’t stop himself from smiling, tears of happiness rolling down his slightly red cheeks as he ever so gently caressed the blanket in which the staff had wrapped the little one in

“I’ll be a good father to you…I promise” he whispered as he watched the backs of the people in hospital gowns carry the small human to the baby station

him being perfect in anything he tries and offering your child the advice which matched that of a professional, was of great help and motivation to your descendant and made some of their classmates either swoon or bite their lip in jealousy

but at times even the red-haired man couldn’t see eye-to-eye with his own child and that’s when you came in

since you were rather imperfect in comparison to your beloved, the problems of your kid were more easily approachable for you than for your husband, so while you discussed it all out Akashi was just outside the room, listening to how you resolve the situation, hoping he could do it the same way the next time

in total your family life would be perfectly described by the saying One for All - All for One because only through your mutual understanding and support was your joint future - and that of your child - as bright and filled with love

shortly after Rakuzan’s victory against Shuutoku, the Rakuzan starters were walking together in the hallway to their lockers when you were blocking the way, hogging up the vending machines in the middle of the hallway to buy your teammates refreshments and snacks and then shoving them into your small backpack

Hayama impatiently yells at you to scram and Mayuzumi gives his own condescending comment, and you immediately looked up to see the infamous team

you instantly freeze up when you see Akashi in the back of the group just wordlessly staring as usual, and you just stay at your spot completely still for a while

“... Girl! Are you even listening?! Are you dumb or deaf?”

“That’s no way to speak to a girl!”

“Ow! But Reo-nee…”

“Maybe she just needs to eat? She’s probably hungry.”

“Ugh, no one else is like you, you know!”

“Tch.”

Mayuzumi merely frowns before he casually looks behind to see a rather intense aura emanating from Akashi, which is quite rare considering that you were a nobody compared to him and you weren’t someone who threatened him in any way… unless that was actually the case? but he merely observes from the shadows

“Move. You’re in the way.”

you incredulously stand up straight from his words and point a finger at him:

“I-I… I can’t believe it! This is the first thing you say to me after all this time?! Everything that happened at Teiko… was… was all your fucking fault! I hope the final game becomes your own downfall, you fucking jerk! And I hope I never see you again after tomorrow night.”

by now, you were hyperventilating from shouting at him, and the teammates were stunned… and absolutely fearful, their gazes darting back to Akashi to see his chilling gaze at you, looking quite calm

“How laughable. You haven’t changed at all, (y/n). You can believe in Seirin’s basketball all you want, say all you want, but it’s all pointless. Rakuzan will achieve victory like it always has. Now step aside.”

you only gape your mouth as you furiously huff and aggressively grab your packed bag and run, but as you dash away, you slightly stumble from the dizziness you felt from the emotional stress

ngl, Reo and Nebuya kinda pitied you watching you run

when you were gone from his field of vision, Akashi merely tells them to move onto the lockers and acts like nothing ever happened

you’ve practically convinced yourself that you truly hated Akashi for hurting Kuroko and destroying teamplay at Teiko… but in truth, you were only using him as a scapegoat to get over your unrequited feelings for him // of course the deepest part of you knew that the adults were responsible, and you knew that Akashi fulfilled his role of captain to the very end (while you meanwhile still had lingering feelings of self-doubt in your work ethic all this time)

while you were extremely happy for the Seirin team for making it to Winter Cup finals, you were so ashamed to even have the fleeting thought that you wanted Seirin to lose in the semi-finals so you didn’t have to face Akashi again

the late evening before the game tomorrow, Kuroko was in the mostly empty stadium, mostly because he wanted to reminisce about the old times before he faces Rakuzan tomorrow

it was a very unfortunate coincidence that Akashi was also there to survey the court for a moment before the game tomorrow

both of them held a long moment of eye contact before Kuroko decides to call him out

“Akashi-kun.”

“Tetsuya.”

“Have you ever had fun playing with Rakuzan?”

“To think that I had a fleeting thought of you asking me a different question this time. I can never understand how you’re fixated on such a pitiful ideal.”

“... Then… have you always felt this way even since the beginning of Teiko?” Akashi merely narrows his eyes at Kuroko

“Get to the point.”

“I’ve just been… wondering, that’s all.”

“Then I will not dally here further just to have a reunion about the past.” Akashi turns around to leave and walks a few steps before Kuroko calls out to stop him in his tracks

“... I want to ask you about (y/n)-san.” He merely watches Akashi slightly turning his head around before continuing. “What do you think about her?”

“She was Teiko’s head manager. How else did you think my opinion was, Tetsuya? She, just like Daiki, just like everyone else, was an asset to achieving victory. I will not repeat myself again.”

“Akashi-kun, with your Emperor Eye, surely you would’ve noticed something was amiss with (y/n)-san for a while now.” Akashi turns completely around with an impassive gaze

“Broken plates can still function fine. It’s no different with Daiki.” Kuroko grows furious for your sake

“H-How… how can you say that? Do you know how much she’s overworked herself and collapsed throughout these past months for the sake of our team? Did you even know how much of our own 1st-string players were belittling her despite her continuing to give it her all? She cared for our team—she cared for you! She didn’t even want to let you know what was going on behind your back to not burden you any further—and for you to only chalk her up as a tool—”

Akashi is slightly taken back at the sudden info dump/confession from Kuroko, struggling to process the new information… but his face gives little away; Kuroko continues on:

“We’re going to win tomorrow. I swear that Seirin will win against Rakuzan.”

“... It will be intriguing to see you try.” Akashi turns to finally exit out, leaving Kuroko simmering in his thoughts alone (excluding a few janitors) for a few minutes before he exits the stadium himself

in seeing you again the next day, Kuroko immediately notices how antsy you got and even offered to give you the massages to get rid of your own stress knots AND YOU INSTANTLY FEEL WARM BECAUSE YOU TAUGHT HIM YOUR TECHNIQUES SO LONG AGO, AND HE STILL REMEMBERS

you confide in Kuroko as he works out the knots, confessing that you don’t want to be there at the final game but you didn’t want to be selfish and ditch the team, especially since everyone made you feel like you mattered to the team (and you told him about your incident with Akashi yesterday too)

Kuroko shares his own fears and unresolved feelings to you to show that you weren’t alone in feeling uneasy (although he doesn’t share the info that he met up with Akashi)

the talk made you made up your resolve, and you tell him that you were going to be there at the front bench to support Seirin like you’ve always done, but you do make a request for him to make an excuse for you in case you chicken out and flee mid-game or something

Kuroko agrees and to make you feel better, he proposes for you to focus on him throughout the game so you don’t have to look at Akashi; he knows you still harbor feelings for the Rakuzan captain

while the Seirin starters were warming up, you opted to survey the building interior to find the best route around… just in case if you wanted to flee // you meet Kaijo’s team by coincidence, and Kasamatsu ushers the rest of the team forward to leave you and Kise alone

Kise affectionately ruffles your hair and wishes you and Seirin good luck but also notices how anxious you look; this idiot slaps your back to calm you down LOL

“(y/n)-cchi! What are you so nervous for?”

“Ow! What the hell?”

“O-Ow, ow! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to hit that hard—can you please let go?!”

“It’s been a while since I shoulder-locked you, huh…”

“Well, I certainly don’t miss it! You’re so cruel!”

and you only give him an all-knowing look at his “cruel” comment, and Kise panics again at his usual poor word choice… but you merely laugh at his distress

unintentionally, Kise does end up being the one to help you clear up the bundles of nerves… he’s still really worried for you because he definitely can see how you’re still hung up on Akashi

at the same time, when Seirin was watching Rakuzan team members do perfect layups, getting nervous about the game, you were a nervous wreck in your own world at the bench, triple-checking everything and giving massages to Teppei to relieve his knee pain for the time being

throughout the game, Akashi does throw a casual glance at you here and there when no one’s really looking, and meanwhile, you’re incredibly fixated on Kuroko (doing what he told you so you wouldn’t be tempted to look at Akashi)

a lot of your attention was on Furihata anyways because you were focused on massaging particular areas to reduce the physical stress exerted on them during the game

part of Akashi wants to go all out and win this game not only to prove you and Kuroko wrong, but also to impress you, but that’s something his true self feels (who is dormant in his subconscious) rather than his current self… but it’s still there

the moment you broke was when the Akashi you knew and liked finally returned to the court, and you immediately excused yourself to the empty infirmary room to bawl your eyes out and put yourself together; you tell yourself that it’s just another tactic of Akashi and return to the game right when Seirin makes their game point

Oreshi gave 100% in battling against Seirin but occasional glances constantly were shot over to Seirin’s bench to look for you, but you were gone at the last part of the game until at the very end

after the team lineups and trophy distributions, you immediately run outside of the stadium for crisp night air, heaving in as much as you could to try to prevent your body from having any funny ideas of dying on the spot

“... (l/n)-san.”

from his voice, you knew it was Akashi, and you debated on running as fast as you can but the current state of your body didn’t make it a viable option; you opted to stand still quietly, your back still facing him

“(/n)-san,” Akashi softly says again, slowly walking up to you and stopping four meters behind you to give you reasonable space in the confrontation

“... I hate you, you know that? Didn’t I tell you that I didn’t want to see you again after this game?”

“Kuroko disclosed to me what happened.”

“He what?!” In your shock, you whirl around to face Akashi, only to be stunned to see his gentle eyes filled with guilt and worry

“... I want to give you my sincerest apology for everything I’ve done and for what I didn’t do for you. In seeing how the Generation of Miracles had their talents bloomed substantially at a rapid rate, I had believed chasing for absolute victory was the only way to hold us together. Teamwork was nigh impossible given that we had no equal rivals from the outside. Even if that was the only plausible option to take as captain, I still failed Teiko’s other members, including you. To think that I was foolish in letting go what was most important to me.”

he gives a deep bow, further shocking you of your wits

“I…” You pause before you frown. “What did Kuroko even tell you?”

Akashi tells you exactly what Kuroko said and you immediately deny it

“Th-That’s… I only worked hard to get better, so I wouldn’t get left behind. Our old teammates were a testament that I was lacking, and I tried hard to catch up to everyone. I only collapsed due to my own irresponsibility. No matter how much I tried, I could never reach up to everyone’s level, even until now.”

“That’s not the whole truth isn’t it, (l/n)-san?” You widen your eyes at his statement, worried about the insinuation of his words

Oreshi now was not the same Oreshi back in Teiko; he’s now much sharper when it comes to you; he senses that there was something else amiss

“Why didn’t you tell me about what happened back at Teiko? Did you feel that you couldn’t rely on me as a captain?” Akashi sounds hurt… really hurt

you, taken back, immediately were quick to answer:

“N-No! If anything, I… I didn’t want you to look at me in a lesser light if you ever found out that our members started losing faith in me, and I… I wanted to be dependable like everyone else on the team! And if I was reliable, you would be able to depend on me like you used to in the very beginning…”

“(l/n)-san,” Akashi mumbles with upturned brows. “You’ve always been viable to me and the team. Why do you go through such lengths?” Your tears burst forth uncontrollably before you choked out:

“Because I liked you! You were so accomplished and reputable…! I had always th-thought that deep down, i-if I kept improving myself, that you’d notice me in the way I saw you!” Both you and Akashi widened your eyes at what you just said

well shit, maybe now is a good time to run? but before you even had any other ideas, Akashi steps forward to gently clasp your wrist

“... How do you feel about me now?” You obviously hesitate and look down at your clasped wrist, tears still streaky on your face, and at your silence, Akashi continues. “If you truly despise me… I understand. I won’t bother you anymore after tonight… But please believe me (l/n)-san, when I say…”

he moves from your wrist to your hand, taking his other hand to bring up both your hands in a delicate clasp

“... that I’ve always been fond of you, ever since the beginning.”

“You’re lying.”

“I am not, (l/n).” To prove his point, Akashi places a tentative ghost kiss on his hands holding yours, wary in trying not to overstep his boundaries in case you didn’t want your hands to be kissed by him; he leaves his lips there before he murmurs

“... How can I make it up to you?” You feel his soft breath reverberating through your own hands, and it felt so sincere

“Well… for starters, I want to know the Akashi outside of basketball…” He lets go of your hands and gives a small smile

“Then it would be more appropriate to call me Seijurō, don’t you think?”

“Ah… then… you can call me by my first name too.”

“(y/n)... please don’t hesitate to come to me when anything troubles you.”

“I’ll try.”

“And please don’t overwork yourself. It’s not good for you.”

“I’m not making promises.”

“I do hope that in time you’ll come to realize that you’re an extremely talented person… quite a force to be reckoned with too.”

“Was the second half an innuendo of some sorts?”

“You don’t meet someone everyday who wouldn’t hesitate to cuss out the Rakuzan captain while pointing at his face.”

“I…! I’m sorry! I spoke out of—” He puts a finger to your lips with a teasing smile before he grows serious

“I must also apologize for my cruel words…

… I hope that you would find it in yourself to forgive all of my own misdeeds.”

“Yeah, yeah,” you mumble. “Maybe that will happen sooner than later because I do… like you.”

“It’s nice to hear a confirmation from you.”

persona users and their arcanas

i compiled a list of all confirmed persona users (p1-p5s) and sorted them by arcana out of curiosity to see where most of the users are. the list goes in order starting with fool and ends with the unnumbered arcanas, and i believe i got every user we see, but i could definitely have missed a minor character or two.

some notes: - fool, magician, lovers, and fortune are tied for highest amount of users. temperance is the least with no users. - the only attendant that was counted was elizabeth due to her confirmed wildcard status in p4a2, which slots her as a persona user on level with aigis and other protagonists. - i tried to list any major discrepancies between arcanas. mainly, aigis (for having 3 different confirmed ones across wildcard, persona, and slink), akihiko and shinjiro (persona and slink), and adachi (arcana switches midway through). - arcanas that share numbers were merged, like magician/councillor and strength/hunger. - reverse persona users are also noted - sho is not a persona user, so he was not listed. minazuki is. labrys and shadow labrys are also separate entries for the same reason.

You nod eagerly as you shut the menu in your grip, completely ignoring Reiji’s protests from beside you as the rest of the individuals seated around the table either watch in amusement or curiosity. “I believe there is always a three special course meal that changes every day according to the chef, we’d absolutely love that.”

At the sight of Reiji’s features scrunched up in horror, you inwardly squealed in victory. 

Years have flown by, you’re both practically strangers at this point. Yes, strangers. Just two strangers who know every shameful secret, every hidden freckle, and even every fatal flaw in each other. Who were you kidding anyway? Six years have gone by just like that, but you knew it yourself, deep down that you still strongly cared for the man that now stood before you, his eyes the only thing you could focus on, not even the soft chatter of the other guests or the soft instrumental melody produced by the restaurant’s speakers could capture your attention and disrupt your thoughts. Mesmerized, that is what you are. What even. 

It has been six years and to this day, he still completely steals your breath away. 

Not that it should surprise you or anything. Despite everything, how he had hurt you back when you were both 17 and in your second year in senior high school back in 2013, or the hurtful words that spilled from his mouth from the running emotions that day back at the sports complex when the truth revealed itself, you couldn’t bring yourself to hate him or even be angry. You’ve thought of this a billion times since you left Hyōgo. You have imagined a billion scenarios, trying your best to prepare yourself because you knew. You knew that it was inevitable to stay hidden, to keep your secret hidden. A part of you always knew you were going to meet him again. Not that your reunion was delightful or anything. It was nowhere near such. No matter how many scenarios you created in your head, it had not been enough for you to prepare for any form of response. 

You hadn’t realized it at first when you had met him on that day because of the emotions running high through your veins, but now, standing in front of him, your eyes drank him up completely. Of course, you notice the differences from six years ago. It wasn’t as if he was going to stay how he had been back then, nor was it difficult to notice the changes from the boy you used to adore. Looking at him now, it was clear as day that he had grown up from the charming boy next door to a breathtaking man that you can’t seem to tear your gaze away. 

As your name rolls off of his tongue, you snap out of your trance, blinking a couple of times. Thankfully, you suppressed your emotions quick enough from allowing the warmth that wanted to creep across your cheeks. God, how embarrassing. Did he notice you were practically devouring him with your eyes? Hopefully not. 

However, despite his handsome features, you are suddenly reminded of the last conversation that the two of you shared and it was enough for you to push your mushy thoughts to the very back of your head. Ah, right. You remembered now, before being distracted by Atsumu’s ridiculously handsome face, you were going to give Asuma and Reiji a good smack. If only you had known of this setup, you would have never agreed. Jumping back to reality, you were about to take a step back, wanting to leave the premises, only to be held back by Reiji, gripping onto your arm to stop you. 

You were cut off from your protests, Reiji moving closer to whisper in your ear with the all too familiar tone he uses on you during arguments. Before he could even finish his sentence, you already knew that the excuses you have in mind were no use. There was no room for negotiations. “Stop being stubborn and sit down. Do this for your kids. It’s not like it’s a date or anything.” 

Grumbling underneath your breath at how much of an ass he was, he only replies with a chuckle as he releases his grip on your arm, neither of you realizing the green-eyed monster’s gaze that followed the whole interaction. The two of your friends took their seats, greeting the rest of the party, while you’re left standing there before Atsumu. As you stood there face to face, you didn’t realize the two occupants around the table sharing hushed whispers amongst each other, berating each other for bringing other people along. Meeting his gaze once more, you give him a small nod, “Atsumu. Shall we then?” 

He nods, his voice cracking slightly because of his nerves, “Yeah.” 

However, as you turn to greet the rest of the party, you feel your shoulders grow tense at the realization of what your two friends did once again. They had occupied seats around the table, leaving the only available seats next to each other for you and Atsumu. If it’s one thing you hated, it was when your friends become the meddling monkeys that they are. 

Not wanting to cause a scene, you inwardly groan and occupy the seat next to Reiji, leaving the seat next to you for Atsumu. In spite of your irritation, you find yourself flashing a half-hearted smile at the three across from you. 

“Hi!” the one in the middle greets you happily with an enormous smile plastered across his face, “I’m Hinata, it’s nice to meet you.” He extends his arm across the table, holding out his hand for you to shake, which you gladly take. 

“Nice to meet you too,” you respond with a nod of your head as you release your grip from his hand, just in time to retrieve the menu that the waiter had passed throughout the group. Flipping it open, you avoid the glances from Bokuto and Osamu, who looked as if they were itching an interaction from you, but because of your irritation, you definitely didn’t want to talk to them just yet, they probably had helped your friends in setting this up. “So Hinata-san, I’m assuming you're Bokuto’s teammate?” you ask before tearing your gaze away from his to examine the menu in your hands. You don’t notice the frown that briefly appeared on Atsumu’s lips. 

“Oh, Hinata’s just fine!” he waves his hand with a laugh, “Yes, I’m Bokuto and Atsumu’s teammate. We actually wanted to bring our friend Sakusa here too, but he said he has an emergency at some hospital.” 

"Hmm…" you hum, letting your eyes scan the menu, thinking you might as well enjoy the food, "Oh, I hope everything is okay with your friend Sakusa and it’s nothing too serious, but now that we're here, might as well enjoy and run Rei's wallet dry. Right, Rei?"

You tilt your head a bit, glancing over at Reiji from the corner of your eye with a sly smirk forming on your lips. Ah, the man could only let out a nervous chuckle, knowing full well what you were planning as he recalls a similar scenario a few months back in the very same restaurant that put a dent to his savings because of the ridiculous price of the meals you had ordered that night. Not tearing your gaze away from your best friend, you call for the waiter's attention, who quickly responds by walking over and pulling out his tiny notepad to jot down your table's order. 

"Hello, I'm Daiki and I'll be your waiter for the night." He greets with a friendly smile, not realizing the awkward atmosphere among the group, "What will we be having?" 

Clicking your tongue against the roof of your mouth, you give Reiji an innocent grin before turning your gaze over to the waiter to return his smile with your own, "Hello, Daiki. You see, my friends here aren't really sure what to order, but I told them not to worry since I've been here so many times, so I'll be ordering for everyone!" 

"Excellent, ma'am!" He nods his head, matching your enthusiasm.

You nod eagerly as you shut the menu in your grip, completely ignoring Reiji’s protests from beside you as the rest of the individuals seated around the table either watch in amusement or curiosity. “I believe there is always a three special course meal that changes every day according to the chef, we’d absolutely love that.” 

At the sight of Reiji’s features scrunched up in horror, you inwardly squealed in victory. 

It was going to be a long night.

Mayuzumi Asuma and Suwa Reiji were now considered dead.

To you, at least. And somehow, you knew that, despite them avoiding meeting your gaze alongside with the other three across from you who freely interacted with each other, they themselves knew what they were getting themselves into. They were digging their graves for this stunt they have pulled. 

You’d got to give Reiji credit, though. Despite pushing his buttons by ordering everyone the high priced three course meal, he wasn’t his usually squirmy and irritating self. You had at least expected sharing a heated argument with him after such a display, but instead of giving in, he continued to pursue his plan with the others. 

Oh, they think they were so slick, as if you hadn’t caught on with their little plan. Not a date, they say. It might as well be one, since they’re bluntly ignoring your attempts to converse with them. All was missing was some privacy. At first you hadn’t thought about it when you had tried to share a conversation with Hinata, it was only right for you to get to know someone; you were just being nice. However, before Hinata could respond to your question, Bokuto had dragged him into a conversation about volleyball. You brushed it aside, not thinking anything rude of it, as you knew Bokuto would often speak with anyone out of the blue. It was just how he is. 

You hadn’t even thought about it the second time around when this time; you tried conversing with Osamu, wanting to know about how his business is going so far. Except, the conversation between you and Osamu never happened due to the fact that Asuma had cut you off mid-sentence, engaging the man in a ridiculous conversation about healthy diets. Like, what the heck was that all about? Asuma and healthy diets just don’t sit well with you. Nevertheless, you brushed it aside, shifting your attention to the first course meal of the night that had been placed before you. 

They think they were so smart, trying to pull it off. Ah, but no. You had caught on with their little plan the third time around when you tried to join in Bokuto and Hinata’s conversation. You were instantly shot down by Reiji, shifting the conversation to another topic that only they could understand. 

They were dead men. All of them. 

Placing your chopsticks down, you turn your head towards Reiji’s direction with a false innocent smile curling upon your lips. “Reiji, dear.” 

Ah there it was, catching the nervous bob of his Adam’s apple in this throat with your gaze. "Yeah?"

"I hope you know—” 

Hinata cuts you off by standing up abruptly from his seat, waving frantically towards someone’s direction, “Ushijima-san!” 

You blink before turning your head to look at whoever Hinata was waving to, catching a glimpse of a tall, muscular man nodding towards Hinata’s direction in greeting, a woman trailing close behind him. Not wanting to be rude, you return to your previous position to face Hinata that was seated across from you, “Was that the Ushijima Wakatoshi?” 

Hinata nods as he sits back down, a huge smile on his face. “Yeah, I’m sure you know about him.” 

“I suppose,” you lift your shoulders up in a shrug as you pick up your chopsticks once more, completely forgetting to reprimand Reiji’s actions much to his relief, “I was volleyball manager back then in high school, so I would know a few things, including some players.” 

“Where did you go to school?” Hinata asks, tilting his head a bit as he looks at you curiously. You wonder, briefly, had Atsumu not mentioned you at all since the incident at the sports complex? Weird. 

As you were about to reply, the man seated on your left answers for you. “She went to the same school as me, Shouyou-kun. She was our manager.” 

Hinata stares at you for a second, blinking a couple of times before realization hits him, his eyes widening, “I remember you now! You were that pretty manager!” 

The men around the table chokes and sputters their food, causing you to scrunch up your nose in disgust. Atsumu is first to respond after clearing his throat, “What? I mean, yeah. She was our pretty manager.”  

“I remember her because it was the first time I saw Tsukishima look stupid over a girl,” Hinata chuckles, shaking his head. “But, how come I only saw you once? Were you a third year at the time?” 

Suddenly, the tension was back in the air. You catch from the corner of your eye, Atsumu growing tense from Hinata’s question, and you had to fight the urge to show your own emotions. Everyone else was silent, probably waiting for you or Atsumu to answer. “Ah, I left high school towards the end of our second year, and moved to Kanagawa. I had my hands full at the time, so I didn’t return to high school.” 

“But wh—” Hinata gets cut off by his own yelp, making you raise a brow in confusion. He turns his head towards Osamu’s direction, wincing slightly, “Osamu-san!” 

Osamu lets out a laugh, not looking anywhere near apologetic. “Ah, sorry buddy. I was reaching over Bokuto but you were in the way.” 

An awkward atmosphere engulfs around the table once more. This dinner was certainly not going according to Osamu and Reiji’s plan. Opting to avoid the awkward glances from the other individuals, you turn your attention over to focus on your food while Osamu and Reiji were sending glares towards each other once they realized your attention elsewhere. The two had talked with Atsumu earlier, devising a plan for the two of you to talk things through. Originally, Osamu suggested that the dinner should be just you and Atsumu, but Reiji declined such an idea because of two reasons. First, you would completely decline yourself to go to a dinner and leave Atsuhiro in the hospital despite your mother being present, Reiji knew you too well that the idea of dinner at a fancy restaurant without your sons was a big no. That is, unless a friend of yours were to force you by dragging you to the restaurant. And second, if you were to be left with Atsumu alone, Reiji fears that you would leave almost immediately. 

And he was right for both. If he hadn’t dragged you here himself, you wouldn’t have bothered to go. And if he hadn’t stopped you earlier, you would have ran out the moment you saw Atsumu. However, they hadn’t expected this. Reiji hadn’t expected Osamu to bring two other people, while Osamu hadn’t expected that Reiji was going to bring someone else along. Yes, it was a disaster. 

Reiji had opted to bring Asuma along, because he knew you were going to be suspicious if it were just the two of you going for dinner. You would have accused him of coddling you like a child, it was something he would do now and then when he wanted you to release all the emotions you had kept bottled up. It’s not that you didn’t appreciate him for it, he just knows that if he did such a thing during such an emotional time, you would push him away when Reiji wanted to speed things along. As much as Reiji disliked the father of his favorite twins, he wasn’t going to deprive the little boys any longer of the chance of finally getting to know their father. If he was going to force everything on you, he would do it. He, too, has grown tired of your decisions of run away. 

Osamu on the other hand, only decided to accompany his brother himself but as he and his brother were leaving the apartment, the other two barged out of Bokuto’s room claiming to be starving from the lack of food the past couple of hours because of some intense gaming session on the PlayStation 4 that Bokuto brought along with. Not being quick on their feet, the twins had blurted out they were going out to eat. They unfortunately could not decline the two balls of sunshine. 

Clearing his throat, hoping to shift the tension in the air. “Anyway,” Osamu starts before tearing his glaring gaze away from Reiji over to where Ushijima was seated across the room, “Who is that girl Ushijima is with?” 

“She kinda looks familiar,” Bokuto hums, placing his chopsticks down after finishing his first course meal, shifting his gaze over to Ushijima’s table. 

“That’s the heiress of the Akita Empire,” Asuma answers, “Pretty woman, she is. I didn’t know she was dating anyone.” 

Hinata lets out a gasp of excitement, his eyes going wide. “I wonder if Ushijima-san is really dating her!” 

“Maybe you can ask him at the party…” Bokuto suggests while the rest of his words are drowned out by you, growing bored with the night as you wonder when you can possibly leave. 

Despite drowning out the conversation around the table and focusing on the food, Atsumu pulls you in with his voice from the side, “Hey, I’m sorry about this. I told Osamu and Reiji it was a bad idea from the start.” 

Ah, so it was those two who had planned the whole thing out. You let out a sigh, turning your head to face him to answer, your voice low to keep the others out of the conversation, “There’s nothing that we can do now.” 

“Would you have preferred that it was just the two of us?” he asks, hope laced in his voice. 

Lightly nibbling on your bottom lip, you tear your gaze away from him. Did you? You actually wanted to talk to Atsumu after having the talk with your sons. You were going to express your disappointment towards Reiji and his plan full of flaws. Had they planned this for the two of you to talk? If so, this was stupid to begin with. Something so serious between the two of you and Atsumu should be discussed within private walls, and this was nowhere near private. So maybe, yes. Perhaps, if the two were you alone, then it would have been better. “I guess,” you finally admit, “Maybe the two of us can talk things through properly when this is over. I think it’s time. For now, I hope you can accept my apologies.” 

“And I hope you accept m—” 

Hinata’s loud voice booms excitedly, “Oh remember that party!” 

The two of you snap your attention over to Hinata, the disappointment clear in your features for the disruption. What were they talking about? However, curiosity gets the best of you and you entertain him anyway. “What party?” 

“The Christmas party last year!” Hinata announces with a chuckle, “At first, I was thinking why Reiji-san and Asuma-san here look so familiar then I remember I attended the party with Bo-kun and the others!” As if on cue, the moment those words left Hinata’s mouth, Atsumu and Bokuto visually stiffened, causing you to grow more curious. 

“Ah, that party.” you let out a laugh, nudging Reiji with your elbow, “He’s talking about your all-time favorite party.” 

A scowl makes its way to Reiji’s features, “Please, do not remind me of that horrendous party. I had to move rooms just because of that, and I replaced the mattress too.” 

“You’re so dramatic,” you drawled, laughing along with Asuma as you remember Reiji going crazy the next day after the party. “Just because your guests did the dirty on your bed—” Reiji cuts you off by pinching your side, which causes you to let out a yelp in both pain and surprise.

Osamu interjects with a grin, “Actually, I have a feeling that Sakusa would have died hearing such information. But I would be pissed off too, Reiji. That’s nasty. I would have moved out the whole place entirely.” 

“Right?” Reiji exclaims by throwing his hands in the air, “I couldn’t step inside the room without wanting to poke my eyes out.” 

“That’s why we no longer let Atsumu drink too much because he’ll probably do that again,” Hinata adds, laughing along. 

Once again, silence. 

“Wait, what?” Reiji asks, the first to break the silence. “That was you?” 

Bokuto smacks Hinata’s head before looking away awkwardly. Hinata, on the other hand, takes a minute to realize his mistake before flickering his gaze back and forth from Atsumu over to you, waiting for his mistake to backfire in his face. The rest of the individuals around the table turn their attention over to Atsumu, waiting for his response. 

You were the first to defend him, letting out a laugh. “Okay, enough of this. Let’s leave the past in the past. Let’s not make things awkward, it’s not like Atsumu and I are dating or anything,” 

“Tsumtsum!” a squeal echoes throughout the restaurant and all you could think now was “What now?”
