i wrote a fic for the first time in my life! and it's about knitting, of all things lol 🧶🧶
mcdanno // 10k words // based on episode 8x06
Steve sighs. “Okay, so. I read the full report, the one from the stress management consultant?” he explains, finally. “And I haven’t changed my mind, I still think it’s mostly useless crap. But she suggested taking up a hobby to decompress and I mean, trying something new can be fun,” Steve says casually. “Plus, we wouldn’t want your money to go to waste, right?” “Color me surprised,” Danny says, tone dripping with sarcasm. “I can’t believe the day has come when you finally listen to me on something. But still, I have to ask, why knitting?” ***
Or, Steve knits his way to Danny's heart.

So, I was watching 7.18 and seeing Danny struggling to say "I love you" to Steve in those jungles, when they could die at any moment made me write this.
He should say it. No, he has to say it... He must say it. Jesus, they are two seconds from death, and it could be the last time when Danny has an opportunity to look at Steve and catch a glimpse of his blue eyes, filled with love and sorrow.
"Don't say it. Don't say anything, okay? I don't need to hear it, okay?" Danny says, feeling his pounding heartbeat. Seems like it's going to jump out of his chest if he doesn't say those three fucking words. Steve has already said them, so why couldn't he?
That's the question Danny always asks himself. Why the hell he can't say these three words if they are on the verge of death? It's not the first time, at all. And it's about saying "I love you" and not about death. However... No, no time for that now. So, he's been saying those words for a few years so far. But the thing is... The thing is that when they are so close to death, these words become very real. It's not just "I love you, man" or "I love you" way you can say to your friends. No, It is the I love you I love you. And Steve has already confessed to him. Long time ago and even right now. He confessed his love to him and Danny is too terrified to answer back. Not because of the bomb that can explode at any time. He is scared because when he says these words, they will become too real. He'll have to deal with them somehow, and Danny isn't sure that he's ready for this. Not now. Maybe sooner or later, but not now.
***
But time flies and at the present moment, they are almost trapped with the bomb. Yeah, trapped, because there is no escape from this part of the island so quickly that the bomb won't reach them. And Danny is scared for the second time (or the third, there is no need to count, with Steve it's always like this, both good and bad way). He is scared for his friend. For his Steve. For his... Oh God, anything can go wrong. These batteries may not save Steve, or the bomb will explode and two of them will be dead. What if... What if he says it. Right now.
There is an invisible hand that squeezes Danny's neck, preventing him from it. No, he can't. He can't.
"I don't have anything, I'm sorry. Good luck," says Danny and... Good luck? Really, Danny? Good luck?
He just goes and takes the cover, as Steve had told him. Steve will be good. They all will be good. At least it's what he is saying to himself, hoping that it would stop his heart from aching so badly for the unpronounced words.
***
Now it is safe. They are at Steve's house, and Danny is not sure what he is doing here after spending an hour in the hospital with Steve. Their ears are still ringing, but at least now they are able to hear each other.
"So, what about "Steve's" restaurant? Have you decided on the interior yet?" Steve, as always, doesn't want to listen to him.
"It is a horrible idea. Horrible. No one would go to this restaurant if I named it like that," replies Danny, closing his eyes.
"So, are you saying that "Danny's" would be better?"
"I'm not saying anything. And I don't want to say anything. Silence. Silence is what I need right now, Steve," sighs Danny. He is surprised that after it, Steve really goes silent. Unpredictable.
Danny turns his head to look at his friend.
"Oh shut up," Danny shuts his eyes and turns his head away.
"I'm not saying anything!" Steve almost shouts. His ears are in a worse state than his.
"Yeah, but you are expecting me to say something," Danny opens his eyes and sighs deeply again.
"No, I'm not, Danny. I'm not expecting anything. Really."
And they are silent again. Danny is in his thoughts. He can say these three words right now, they are not in danger anymore, and it wouldn't fully count as a confession, right? Wrong. It would. Because... He doesn't know exactly why, but it wouldn't be just "yeah, pal, love you too."
"Well, you didn't kill us, so maybe, only maybe, but I will think about naming my restaurant in honor of our names. Not only yours," Danny rolls his eyes. "But for real, it's better to think about it more."
"Oh really?" Steve puts on his pure smile and oh fuck Danny's heart starts melting and aching. Again. He is a coward. He really is. He can't say those three fucking words just because it will become real. Just because he doesn't know how it will end up. What would happen next? If anything at all happens. Danny is always thinking of horrible ways something could end up. And he doesn't want it with Steve. And he can't say It because he wants everything to be alright, he wants everything to be stable. Like this, like now. Because losing stability is not an option for him, right? And losing Steve means losing stability and...
"I love you," Danny spits out. He looks at Steve. Steve's face relaxes, he doesn't take his eyes off Danny, and Danny sees how a gentle smile widens on his beautiful lips.
"I love you too," Steve answers, still looking at Danny with so lovable smile that... that Danny wants to say it again. Wants to kiss these beautiful lips, to taste them.
The warm feeling is interrupted by light fear. He has said it. He said those words, so what now? It was a confession, so everything is going to change now, right?
"I'll bring beer," suddenly says Steve and stands up.
Danny feels relief. It will change, he is sure. But now they can just sit and drink beer, take some rest and be happy that they and a half of the island made it out alive.
For today it is definitely enough.

Looking for a lost fiction
Hey. I’m looking for a Mcdanno fanfiction, it’s ABO (alpha beta and omega) where a new agent joins the team (I think by the governors request). The new agent takes a liking to Danny (who’s an omega) and Steve (alpha) gets very jealous and territorial.

Steve moved to the foot of the hospital bed and found his partner cocooned under his blankets. Two tufts of blond hair peeked out of the covers.
Steve didn’t know why, but that sight made him cry. Thin, warm, mute tears trickled down his cheeks. The day had finally caught up with him—the week. He almost lost Danny to that virus on the yacht, then almost lost him again to a bullet. Steve’s body sagged with exhaustion—physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. He tiptoed to the left side of the bed—the empty side—but also the side where he could look into his partner’s eyes, if Danny let him. His own eyes stayed wet. He didn’t wipe the tears away.
“Danno?”
Danny twitched. His hand worked its way out from under the blankets and patted the empty side of the mattress. Steve took his shoes off and carefully climbed into the bed, aware that any sudden or hard movements could disturb his friend. He got comfortable lying flat, then rolled over onto his right side so that his body faced Danny’s.
“I’m here,” Steve whispered. “I’m here, Danny.” He lifted his right hand over Danny’s head, hesitated for a moment, then ran two gentle fingers through his partner’s hair, barely touching the scalp. “I swear you’re safe, and it’s safe to rest, and I’ll stay here as long as you need me—as long as you want me. Probably longer than that.”
Danny snorted. Steve smiled. He knew the precise expression on Danny’s face. Steve smiled wider when he realized what he needed to do. He needed to do the same thing he did when Charlie got stressed and hid under the covers. Cautiously, moving slow as if approaching a wild animal, Steve picked up the far side of the blankets and then scooched his body forward until he was under them. Danny shifted to release more of the blankets. After another minute of rearranging themselves, the pair finally settled down, face-to-face. Danny’s eyes were shut. Steve shut his, convinced that his partner was about to fall asleep.
“Awww, babe,” Danny whispered a minute later. Steve opened his eyes and found his partner staring at him with his eyebrows up and his eyes wide. “You’re crying, Steve.”…

Last line of WiP
I was tagged by the amazing @cowandcalf and often I have nothing on the go. I do for this, but as anyone who knows how I write will know, I write and post immediately.
LAST LINE OF WIP (or more):
Rules: Write the latest line from your wip (or post where you last left off in your art) and tag as many people as there are words in the line.
I’m currently working on Immortale, where Steve is immortal and trying to figure out how to live in a world where he won’t let himself love anyone. Quite a bit of unrequited!Steve in this, but it’s also ramping up towards the inevitable happy ending, because I rarely if ever write any other way. So, as I’m writing now, I have literally stopped to post a few lines here!
“You have a type as well then, partner,” Steve says jovially. He doesn’t want Danny on edge about anything, but he’s also decided that maybe having a little fun at his partner’s expense is worth it. He’s painfully jealous, though. He wants what he can’t have and he’s accepted that, and he accepts that the jealousy is part of the experience.
There you go! I think everyone I’m aware of has already been tagged, but if you haven’t and want to share then please do so because I love seeing writers share their work!

🎲 Fandom choosing is so hard! Either S&H or H50, a random kiss pls!

oh hell yeah. there are two directions you could go with this (bridal or h/c) and I went with. the other one.
Send me a fandom and I'll generate a kiss to write!
Steve stared down at the top of Danny's head. Not that that was an uncommon state of affairs, but there was a greater distance to stare right now. It made his hair even shinier, especially under the bright lights of Iolani Palace HQ. "Danny, what the hell are you doing?"
"Just-" Danny grunted, wrapping an arm around Steve's legs. "Just shut up."
"Danny. It wasn't actually a challenge."
"Oh no, boss," Tani chipped in helpfully. "I was definitely challenging him."
"Didn't think it was to propose, though," Grover said, making a manful attempt at pretending he wasn't laughing.
Steve sighed. Danny was reaching up for his hand, but he was reasonably sure he wasn't actually going to just grab his wrist without Steve's cooperation. He rested his hand on Danny's shoulder instead. "Does it have to be fireman's carry? I am supposed to have some authority here. Where did you learn fireman's carry, anyway?"
That, at least, achieved the desired effect of Danny standing up. Apparently he couldn't be appropriately offended while kneeling at Steve's feet. "I was trained as a first responder! I should be asking you how you know it."
"The military invented it."
"That's true," Junior volunteered from the other side of the table, where he'd wisely confined himself.
"No, it's-" Grover interjected. "Honestly. You Navy boys think you made the sky blue."
Steve couldn't help shrugging and responding, "Well, it is our colour."
Danny rolled his eyes. "Oh-"
The man could move fast when he wanted. Stocky and low to the ground came with advantages. As did, to be fair, Steve's reaction time being stymied by his aversion to hurting Danny in the process. Somehow it all ended up with Steve halfway to exactly the position he'd been trying to avoid.
Danny's back was, frankly, a less appealing view than the top of his head. At least at this angle and fully clothed.
"What were you saying about authority?" Danny said smugly.
"I think I lost it ten minutes ago," Steve admitted to Danny's scapula. He was tempted to go dead weight, which he was pretty sure actually would drop Danny, but that probably wouldn't end up in any more dignified position for either of them.
"You lost it years ago, boss," Tani told him. "You're way too much of a softie to keep it longer than first impression."
"You know I led a SEAL team?"
"You've softened since then," Danny said, and poked him in the side. "Candy left in the sun."
Sighing, Steve accepted that as merely the latest in a long line of fond but slightly derogatory food-based analogies. "Are you planning on putting me down anytime soon? All my blood's starting to go to my head."
"Can't have your head getting any bigger," Danny agreed, and helped him heave himself back over Danny's shoulder onto the ground.
Safely standing, Steve blinked a couple of times, letting the dizziness subside as Tani clapped Danny on the back and handed over a dollar bill. "Shouldn't have doubted you."
"No, you shouldn't have," Danny said, and went to take the money.
It floated to the ground untouched as Steve crouched and lifted, one arm across Danny's back and one under his knees.
Danny squawked, and Grover started laughing, bending over with his hands on the computer table.
"Hey! No-one challenged you!"
"Partnership equity."
"I don't think you know what either of those words mean," Danny grumbled, and crossed his arms. Which, given his current bridal-carried state, made Grover's laughter redouble and Steve snort, the movement shaking Danny slightly and pushing his elbow further into Steve's ribs.
"I hate you," Danny said, and let his head fall onto Steve's shoulder.
"Yeah, I love you too." Steve bent his head to kiss Danny on the forehead, which was met with a faint mumble that deniably may or may not have contained words of affection, then he looked over at the rest of the team. "Now, who wants to put money down on how much I can beat his time by?"
"Oh, I do."
"Hundred percent."
"Hey!"

“My point is,” the other man says, almost with a growl. “I’m a single dad who only gets weekends and every other Wednesday, okay? Meanwhile her multi-millionaire stepfather has brought her everything but a pony, so if I want to stay in Grace’s good books there has to be a little compromising. Even if that compromise means letting her go into the ocean with strangers, and Jesus, I’m panicking just thinking about it.”
He wipes at his face, letting out a shuddering breath. His hair isn’t as unkempt as it was the other day, slicked back neatly with volume and height. Steve gets the impression he takes pride in his appearance – a crisp white tee and expensive looking shorts, showing off his … everything.
Steve clenches his jaw, biting back on any other feelings he might have that aren’t, this guy is insane.
“So what you’re saying is you want to sign your daughter up for surfing lessons."
