i just finished a 120k-word fic and i'm actually in tears. i've been reading it over the course of the day and just finished the most recent chapter about 5 minutes ago, and i seriously am just laying on my bed taking it in.

i have no idea what to do with myself now that i have to wait for another chapter. like, i was SO lost in that world, it's hard to imagine that these characters exist outside of it.

The smell of gasoline seemed to fill the truck as the sputtering engine came to life. The tires turned slowly before eventually picking up speed and driving down the highway. Hanzo sat in the front, his bags and everything he needed to take with him for a much needed vacation tossed in the backseat. The smell of a bad cigar and a barely scented air freshener mixed together to create a bitter smell he’d rather not be smelling. “The least you could do is get a new air freshener.” The archer commented with a sickened face.

Hearing this, Cole turned his head from the rode to Hanzo, a cigar hanging between his teeth. It had taken the southerner a minute before he understood what his partner was saying. Cassidy raised a brow and scoffed, “Ain’t got no idea what you’re talking about. It smells nice, you’re the one that got the problem.” Shimada shook his head and sighed, resting it on the palm of his hand. It was about 4:30 in the morning when he checked the time. He only had an hour left in this truck.. just an hour. As if luck heard Hanzo’s pleas to get to the airport faster, it ignored him and went to gift someone else a small piece of luck.

The old red truck Cole was driving was slowing down; the engine struggling to keep going on the rode. “God damn it! Stupid ol’ truck.” The cowboy yelled in frustration while flicking away his cigar and turning on his caution lights. He turned the truck out the rode and stopped it, getting out to inspect what was wrong. The Shimada groaned and rubbed his face in frustration as he already didn’t want to sit in the truck.

“Cole, what is going on?”

“Shit needs a jump start. May be here for a bit if someone ain’t got a heart o’ gold.”

Hanzo sighed and leaned back in the seat, closing his eyes as Cole walked back and opened the back door. When the pair had stopped for gas, the brown haired man had bought some snacks and drinks in case something like this happened. “Hey, Hanny, want a drink?” Cassidy asked as he handed the other male a 《Generic Energy Drink Brand》Hanzo looked down at the drink before nodding softly, “Sure… Thank you.” The cowboy shut the back door of the truck before sitting in the drivers seat once more. “Any time, Hanners, any time.” He watched as cars past them, letting out a soft sigh while looking over to his partner.

The Japanese man took a sip of the 《Generic Energy Drink Brand》before pulling back with a disgusted face. “Never give me this again.” Was all he simply said while handing the drink over to the southerner as he laughed at his boyfriends face. “Ain’t your taste? That’s alright, darlin’, not everyone likes these drinks.” Cole reassured before leaning in closer with a soft smirk on his lips, “I saw that extra plane ticket before we left, who were you going to invite?” Hanzo’s face was flushed with embarrassment and turned his head away from Cole.

“You.”

The answer took Cassidy by surprise as he pulled back, his eyes widening slightly. “You serious? You wanted me to come with you?” He asked while trying to make sure that he understood the situation correctly. “Yes, yes I was. I guess I got.. what is it? Cold feet.” The Shimada eldest nodded, turning his head back towards his love.

“Sweetheart, I would have said yes! I never took you first the shy type..”

“I am not shy!”

“Sure you ain’t…”

Imagine growing distant from someone you cared deeply in a STRICTLY platonic way and feeling the overwhelming grief form into flowers the blossom in your lungs

Maybe it's a more mild form and doesn't kill you outright but makes you unable to mend that relationship anymore since it's taken away those feelings with the withering flowers you've caught up

Lil note: hanahaki is a fake terminal disease that fills the lungs with flowers that represents your unrequited loves favorite lover or something of that sort, it can be cured but only if your beloved reciprocates your romantic feelings
