I was in the military and had an (entirely silly and in no way serious) argument with a shipmate about Hal Jordan while waiting around for some range training. I fucking hate the guy, think he's a loser and that Guy Gardner, Jon Stewart, and Kyle Rayner ALL rank well above him- the head fuck-o at the training place took me out of the room and tried to intimidate me.... over a comic book character.... He also docked points off my pistol score. Some stans are just like that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Jesus Christ anon that is MUCH worse than arguing over a locket lmao I'm so sorry for your experience.

MAGIC
(mcu wanda/lizzie stans DO NOT INTERACT!)
It has been months since I drew Wanda, literally. So why not draw her again! And somehow everytime I do, her hair gets bigger. Which I think is amazing because I love her with the big curly hair, maybe because I have big curly hair too.

do you have any marvel headcanons?
oh boy DO I
i have some really like random ones about random characters. none of them are really super deep or anything like that. but i do like to have fun thinking about the characters' personalities or how they interact with like stuff in the world:
kamala khan (ms. marvel), monica rambeau (photon), and carol danvers (captain marvel) are all autistic
carol danvers and valkyrie hooked up once or twice but won't commit to a relationship because they claim they are just "too busy" despite the fact they are very clearly in love
carol danvers is so gay. like just very gay. there is nothing straight about her
(this one might be too niche/specific but...) since the nathan's hot dog eating contest is rumored to have started in 1916, i like to think that about bucky barnes dragging steve rogers to coney island for his birthday to watch the contest and ride rides. and i do think bucky would've tried his hand at the contest
kate bishop is bisexual (both in comics and mcu)
all the eternals are super fucking rich not only because of the jobs they've been able to hold (e.g., kingo and his acting career) but because they definitely were some of the first investors in major companies (idk if this would even work or kind of interfere with their purpose but i like thinking about it)
wanda maximoff would be a facebook mom
bucky aggressively salts his food
piggybacking off the eternals investing one - some of the eternals are definitely also into cryptocurrency. phastos actually makes money from it meanwhile kingo has lost a lot of money investing in crypto.
i think kate bishop was a 5sos stan in 2014 and never actually got over them even though she constantly swears it was just a phase
lmao okay there are a few headcanons. i have more because marvel takes up like 80% of my brain space (it's a special interest hehe). sorry, you didn't ask for all of this.

While I maintain my thoughts that MCU Wanda's fanbase is one of the most toxic out of all the characters (based on personal interactions with said fanbase) I don't think the obvious troll accs should count.
I'll never get what people (who obvious hate that character) make fake stan accounts, act toxic, just to give the rest of that fanbase a bad name... Like that "justifies" their hatred for that character by saying "see, that character's fanbase is so toxic"
Bro, if you wanted to prove that a fanbase is toxic... just use actual people as proof! I promise you it's not that hard(especially with mcu wanda stans) !! YOU DON'T HAVE TO JUMP THROUGH HOOPS AND CREATE A WHOLE NEW IDENTITY TO DO SO!!!!

Can i please have some legitimate criticism of steve rogers
So I’ve been scrolling in the anti steve rogers tag (I know, I know--maybe my first mistake) for a project I’ve been thinking about (fixing the MCU), as I needed some good flaws to give the character a titch more nuance and the wiki wasn’t being very helpful. I’ve noticed that a lot of the time, antis--even if I don’t agree with them--have very well-thought out points with evidence from canon and long explanations. That’s what I thought I’d be getting. But I didn’t.
Most of the posts in this tag are along the typical anti lines: “I don’t like this character because XYZ.” But I noticed two things. First, there’s almost never any evidence for these claims. A poster will claim that Steve is entitled or selfish, and that’s just the end of the post. WHY is he selfish? What, specifically, can you point to in canon that supports that? Because I need something like that, and if you can point me to a scene that supports your point, I’d love to hear it--like I said, I need it!
Secondly, a ton of the criticism of Steve is very tied up in other characters. It’s not that these posters are talking about Steve’s character and his flaws and actions as it relates to him--it’s all “he treated Tony bad!” and “he left Bucky behind!” Like, my guy, Steve isn’t just his relationship to these two characters. He has a personality that is separate from them.
I get that a lot of the time, character relationships and interactions inform a character’s personality, but it’s always these two characters. And a lot of the time, it’s pretty clear that, reading between the lines, the people who are bringing up these same two characters are stucky fans or tony fans. So it seems less like a criticism in good faith and more like stans that are getting mad that their fave isn’t being treated as well as they’d like. More character relationships would be beneficial. How does Steve treat the Howling Commandos? Team Cap? Wanda, Sam, Clint, Peggy, Natasha--all of those characters inform Steve’s character just as much as Tony and Bucky do, and I haven’t seen people talking about them.
I’m not here to just complain about people treating Steve badly--I went to the anti steve rogers tag, I knew what I was signing up for. I’m here for a call to action--does anyone who might see this have any good faith criticism and/or some better tags for me to explore?

the weirdest thematic arc of mcu hawkeye is how utterly defined he is by all the women in his life? like, we've hardly ever seen him interact with other male avengers in a meaningful way, but his strongest relationships are with Laura, Nat, Wanda, Kate, even his daughter has more screen time with him than his sons. The only true exception might be Pietro in aou?
I'm pretty sure wheadon and the russo brothers didn't know what to do with him for like 10 years but it turned out to be one of my favourite arcs currently in the mcu? Im confused but i stan

He heard of the reader being not from this of the universe. So now Thanos is planning to take over the reader real universe. Stan says "You can stay in the MCU and stop him but you will stay there forever. Or you can do nothing but there is a greater chance he will succeed and destroy this (real)universe." He even says I'll give you powerful powers excluding unreasonable op powers. Added note: Reader has an Iron Man Suit (TAG @lunchawx)

You’d done it. You’d gotten home. The moment you came face to face with the elderly, white haired man with the large sunglasses and a kind smile, you knew you’d reached the end of this story. Stan Lee had actually been rather cheeky with you, asking “what took you so long kid?”
You’d ran into Lee by yourself- the team had worked their asses off to try and track him down, and they of course had some memories of the man you spoke of, but they never thought about it until now. However, as you had suspected, it seemed Stan Lee had some sort of Godly powers, jumping between this world and your world. Of course the most logical idea was to wait for the next movie… Civil War. Admittedly you didn’t want to be there for that- to be forced to choose between your friends, watching your friends fight and break apart. It felt sort of selfish, especially as you had been so desperate to avoid this movie that you had actually lied to them and told them you hadn’t had time to go and see that movie or to know the outcome or plot before you were thrown here, so you had no idea on what to do, where to look, or what to expect, but it gave you the excuse to do your own investigations in the mindset of the Marvel creator. You put yourself in situations you knew he had a tendency to show up in during the movies, which ranged from parties, parks, memorial, staff at normal jobs and being a civilian. Basically, look everywhere, and expect him to pop up at any time.
Funnily enough, you had found him the day half of the team had gone on that mission. The mission where Steve finds out Bucky is still out there in hiding, the mission where Wanda slips up causing mass concern over the Avenger’s power, and just days later you knew the king of Wakanda was going to be killed. You were terrified of what was going to happen, but you had guessed all you could do now was lay low, stay in the background, and stay in the US so you could be there when Stan Lee showed up asking for Mr Stank. Your mind was racing though- mostly about how they’d react if they find out that you knew about this all, especially Tony, as you knew about his parent’s death at the hands of Bucky, and you decided to just take a walk to clear your head for an hour or so. You had found yourself in a suburb, just strolling down the street, when you saw him. Stan Lee, going door to door with deliveries. You rushed to him as he was putting mail into a mailbox, calling his name, stopping in front of him, which is where he made that comment, and your interaction began.
“Sorry, you’re a hard man to find.” You apologised lightly. “I don’t think you need me to tell you why I’m looking for you.” You told him.
“Of course you don’t. So, you want to go home?” He asked.
“Yes please.” You smiled. He nodded, and he raised his arm, seemingly to pat your shoulder. You expected him to tell you to meet him at a spot later, or to do something to trigger the reaction to get home- enough time to go home and tell your friends goodbye, or to at least leave a note behind explaining what had happened, and to admit your guilt and apologise. However, the second his hand touched your shoulder, you were back home.
Adjusting back to normal life had been harder than you had expected. You had to deal with the police- they had obviously been alerted to your disappearance by your loved ones- you’d been gone for over a year after all! And talking of loved ones, they were all over you, demanding answers despite you not really having one that made any sense, and after a while and being forced to see psychologists, and actually telling them what you experienced and clearly not being believed, they decided that you’d had some sort of manic episode full of hallucinations where you believed you were an Avenger, and in that entire year you had simply gotten lucky and hadn’t died. You accepted it and just tried to move on. Maybe they were right and it wasn’t real. It would make your life so much easier… but you just couldn’t accept it. They were your friends. They’d had your back from the beginning, from the second you fell into their world, they took you in, they helped you adjust, and they believed in you. You saved Pietro’s life, you helped during the events of Age of Ultron… they were your friends, and despite all the tense moments, the bickering and the full blown fights… They were your family. And you missed them. However, you knew what was going to happen in the movie, and you knew they’d be okay… that gave you a little bit of mind… well that was, until Infinity War came out. You were in the movie theatre when you saw it all for the first time like so many others, and while some sat stunned, some cried… you didn’t know how to act. You had just watched half your friends literally die in front of you, and you didn’t even wait around for the after credits. You went home, you didn’t know what else to do. Maybe drink, maybe cry in bed- basically whatever everyone else did while in mourning. That was the plan anyway. Whatever god there is- notably one named Stan Lee- had other plans.
“What- what are you doing here?” You asked as you saw him, standing in your living room- taking note that you were home alone and definitely hadn’t left the door unlocked. He was standing waiting for you, that same, kind smile on his face as he walked over to you. “Is this to do with the movies?” You asked him.
“In a way.” He confirmed. “Do you understand the idea of alternative endings thanks to the movie you just saw?” He asked you. Of course you knew what he was talking about- What Strange had talked about as he had described multiple outcomes. Multiple endings. Multiple worlds. You nodded, now cautious on what he was going to tell you. “Well you rocking up into the Avenger’s lives has caused a new world to be created! A world based around your existence in the MCU.”
“Wait… does that mean that… me being there affect their future? Will Infinity War be different?” You asked him, a slight spark of hope in your voice.
“Sure does, in fact it already has. Thanos caught wind of your existence- about you being from another world with no heroes, and now his plan has changed dramatically. He wants to come here.” Stan explained to you, and you practically felt your heart drop into your butt. Thanos wanted to come here, where there were no heroes. No one who could stand up against him. Your world was basically a sitting duck. No government would be able to handle it… however, that long year alongside Earth’s mightiest heroes had changed you, and your mind clicked into hero mode.
“What- What do I do? What can I do? Is there a way to stop him?” You asked him.
“Of course there is! A rather simple one, and that’s why I’m here… but it means you have to make a very hard decision, kid.” He warned, stepping even closer, putting a hand on your shoulder. You felt the air become still. “Firstly… to shut off his connection to your home, I’ll have to lock that door from this side, and everything has to be on the right side… that world is created to accommodate you, so you technically belong to that world… you have to be on the other side of the door to save this world…”
You’d gotten home. You’d worked so hard for a full year to get home, throwing yourself into danger, lying and hinting while having faith that those you were lying and hinting to would trust your word, and you’d practically just gotten home. You had just gotten your life back in order- a new home, new friends, some sort of normalcy- hell, you’d managed to start convincing yourself that it was all a fever dream… but it wasn’t. And after watching Infinity War… knowing what will happen with you refuse to act and go back, and knowing what will be on the other side waiting for you… you knew what you had to do. You didn’t have to say anything, you simply put on the brave face that Steve had taught you to put on even when scared to not show weakness in front of enemies, and of course Lee knew your decision. “Now for my second question…” He asked. You felt the world around you start to distort… part of you wanted to rush to step away and at least say goodbye or something, but you knew from experience that wasn’t Lee’s style, and by the time you had stepped foot into your old home, it was too late to say goodbye, so instead you focussed on what he was going to throw at you now.
“If you could have any power to help you save the world, what would you choose?”
Tony didn’t know what he was fully expecting when a literal space ship arrived in New York, terrorizing people, especially when he found himself being assisted by what he fully believed to be a Wizard, and also having to keep the kid out of harm’s way, while in the back of his mind he hoped Pepper was alright, and also, part of him wished you were here to give hint of what to expect, even if you yourself had no idea- you’d probably know more than him. However, he didn’t have that luxury, so he worked with what he got, and he expected to have to get on board that ship to track down who sent it. That was, until FRIDAY spoke up.
“Incoming call Mr Stark.”
“Not now, FRIDAY, kind of busy.” He responded.
“It’s from Y/N, Mr Stark.” She retorted. At first Tony thought he misheard the AI, that was until FRIDAY, having seemingly guessed he’d want to actually accept the call, did so on its own accord.
“Tony?” Your voice came through. Tony stopped in the fight for that moment, solely focussed on your voice. He distantly heard Strange asking him what was distracting him, but he focussed on the call.
“Y/N? Is that actually you? Where have you been- are you alright?” He asked in a panic. He couldn’t believe it. No one had heard from you in two years, and you just upped and vanished- Bruce had been the last person to see you, describing you as stressed and shut off, telling him you needed to go on a walk to calm your nerves, and then you never returned, leaving everything behind. That was the day that things had seemed to go wrong. Wanda’s incident, the Accords, Bucky’s framing, Tony finding out about his parents… and the split up of the team. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that you had been on edge that day because you knew what was coming. That admittedly pissed off Tony for quite a long time, and it also upset several others- notably Wanda- for not giving them any heads up for what was going to come soon. At first they had presumed you were lying low to not interrupt the flow of the movies, until Pietro had pointed out that 1, you should be back by now as things had calmed down, and 2, you stopped giving a shit last round and got involved, so it made no sense for you to disappear. Everyone came to agree to that conclusion, and despite the harsh feelings, and half the team being fugitives and on the run, the team in a way reunited and worked closely, though at a distance and mostly over the phone, to search for you. To find out what happened. Wanda learned to forgive your lack of hints, as did the rest of the team, rather quickly. Tony still held a grudge though, but in the end it was Rhodey who set him straight, pointing out how careful your wording was and how cautious you were with the twins, and then having him picture how you might have been feeling at the idea of having to tell your friends that some horrible things were about to happen that affected all of them. Tony, while still upset, understood, and at least up till now, he put those feelings aside, and eventually moved on. You were still missing. Until now.
“It’s me. Sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye- the old man didn’t want to stick around.” You chuckled. Tony quickly picked up on what you had told him- you’d found him, you’d found the mystery man you had talked about and who had faint memories of himself, who seemed to be able to travel back and forth between worlds. You’d gotten home. But why were you back? Were you somehow able to reach him from your side? Did Strange know anything about this or have a role in it? “But that can wait- are you fighting those aliens right now?”
“Yeah- wait, how do you know that?”
“I’ve just seen the movie- literally less than an hour ago. Everything is fresh in my mind, and I have a to-do list. Things are gonna go a lot differently to what’s supposed to happen in the movie, and it’s to do with me. I can’t explain it right now, but I’m going to give you a set of instructions and I need you to follow it for me. Number one, no matter what, don’t get on that ship. Not you, not Strange, and definitely not Peter.”
By this point, Peter had been covering for Tony for the most part, who was partially fighting but mostly focussing on your instructions as you continued to give them. “What’s he doing?” Strange asked the kid.
“I-I don’t know I think he’s taking a call?” Peter hypothesisted, before Tony seemed to focus more, stepping in. “What’s happening?” Peter asked his mentor.
“Can’t go into details mostly because I don’t have them- but rule number one- don’t get on that ship, and number two, I need to have a talk with Squidward.”
Wanda rolled as she hit the floor, turning as soon as she could using her powers to catch Vision’s body just before his head made contact with the stone floor, pulling him into her arms where he was safe. She checked his injury, and tried to close it herself with her powers, before their attackers reached them. However, before they could attack again, Wanda found herself protected. Natasha came out of nowhere to defend her, and then Steve announced his presence. She was more than relieved for them to be there, having her back, and it allowed her to focus on Vision who still needed aid. It was probably because of her focus on him that she didn’t notice the third person until you were at her side, also assessing the damage. “You two okay?” You asked her. She looked up at you, not registering it was you as you checked the cut on her head before looking at Vision, who despite his bad shape, seemed to be more aware.
“Y/N?” He asked faintly. His comment got Wanda to focus, and suddenly she couldn’t take her eyes off you. Neither could Natasha or Steve who were slowly approaching, all seemingly scared you’d disappear. You ignored their stares, instead patting Vision lightly on the leg as it was closest.
“Long time no see huh? You've been looking after Wanda?” You asked him, before looking at Wanda. “How’s Pietro, staying out of trouble?” You asked her.
“So, you’re Y/N?” You heard one of Thanos’ children ask from a distance- Proxima Midnight if you remembered her name right. You looked over at the pair, seeing her holding the other one- you couldn’t remember what his name was, before standing, moving to stand in front of Wanda and Vision, and despite a lack of communication, Steve and Natasha immediately backed you up.
“Sure am. I’m glad you’re not run off yet- I have a message for you to pass on to Thanos.” You told her, keeping your head high. “Let him know that… if he wants to get to my world, he’s gonna have to go through me, first.” You told them, keeping eye contact with her as she glared at you, before teleporting away. You let yourself sigh with relief, before turning to your friends. “Alright… Natasha, call Fury, Steve, call T’Challa, I need to talk to them.”
“How long have they been in there?” Tony inquired, not long after arriving back to the Avenger’s base. It was strange to be in the same room as Steve, but his attention was more focussed through the glass of the meeting room where you were talking with Fury, Maria, and on call with T’Challa. They could see that the three you had called on were listening as you spoke, sometimes one of them spoke up to ask something, and you answered, but none of it could be heard.
“About half an hour… Did they tell you anything on the phone?” Steve asked.
“Other than giving me vague instructions, basically announcing war and making them a walking target? Not really.” Tony responded with a sigh, crossing his arms.
“Mr Stark? Can I ask who that is?” Peter, who had been dragged along through all this, asked rather shyly. Tony glanced at the kid, and then behind him at Strange, who was looking back at him.
“Do you have any idea?” Tony inquired.
“I know that there was an incident a few years ago where there was a rip in New York, and I heard whispers that someone came through… is that them?”
“Wait- they’re not from here?” Peter asked, trying to get a better look at you now to see if you were different somehow.
“They’re from a world where all this is comic books and movies, and they just so happened to be our biggest fan… their world is ahead of our timeline, so when the arrived here, they had the knowledge of what was going to happen in the following few years, which uncluded Ultron.” Natasha explained to the kid, who’s eyes seemed to glisten at the information.
“They saved my life.” Pietro, appearing right behind the kid just to scare him, announced, making the kid jump. “Apparently in the movie I was supposed to get shot, but they made sure that didn’t happen.” He explained. “I know they’ve not explained a lot yet, but I’m going with what they say.”
“Well, they told me that they just saw the new movie and they have a to-do list, so they’re clearly trying to prevent something bad from happening, and from what we’ve seen so far and from what we know… Yeah, without a doubt, we’re following their instructions.” Tony agreed.
The door to the meeting room finally opened, everyone turning to see you as you stepped out. Fury was still in the room, on some sort of old phone messaging someone, and you shut the door behind you. “Alright, time to give you a lot of answers, and what’s going to happen and what to do.” You told them with a heavy sigh.
“That would be great, thanks.” Tony responded, getting nudged by Rhodey. “Can you start with where you’ve been for the last two years?”
“Yeah… I guess you’ve figured out I knew about the Civil War… and I owe you all a massive apology for not saying anything before it all happened.” You immediately apologised.
“That part can wait. We’ve had time to heal and move on from that.” Steve assured. “We can talk about it later, but right now we want to know what you’re doing back, and why. What are we up against?”
“Well… The day I went missing was because I found Stan Lee. Pure chance- he was delivering people’s mail in a little suburb I was walking through. He asked if I wanted to go home, and I said yes, and I thought I’d get a moment to rush back, explain what was happening and say my goodbyes, but he grabbed my shoulder and… I was back home. It was surreal- I’d been reported missing and it wasn’t easy to explain and I wasn’t exactly believed- they summed it up to some sort of mental break, and for a while I actually started to believe it myself… that was until I went and saw the new movie- Infinity War, and then when I got home, Stan Lee was stood in my living room giving me a tough decision.”
“What was that?” Bruce inquired.
“Well… Strange might be able to help me explain this part.” You said, looking over at the man, who stepped closer to listen better. “Lee explained that when I fell into your world, it caused a sort of split off- an alternative timeline which revolves around me existing in your world, and how my involvement meant you’ve diverted from the plot of the movies, but the main events are still gonna happen. So Ultron still happened, but I acted and so Pietro didn’t die and Hulk didn’t go off into Space to have fun in a fighting arena.” You explained.
“...You never told me about that part.” Bruce mumbled. Your mind jumped to the events of Ragnarok, and you just hoped that your actions hadn’t fucked things up for Thor… Maybe Loki was still alive? You’d soon find out though.
“So the main event is Thanos and his plan?” Strange asked and you nodded. “So we’re going to fight him? How does it end?” You gulped, looking around the room.
“In the movie I saw? You lose. Half the population is wiped out. There is a finale, which I presume is you undoing it- but that’s not come out yet, and I have no doubt that it ends with the permanent death of a lot of you… and I can’t have that.”
“...So you… watched half of us die on a giant screen? Like a few hours ago?” Peter asked. A heavy silence filled the air, and the fresh visuals still hurt as you looked around the room.
“Kid… I… I guess I can understand on some level how traumatic that is…” Tony commented. Of course he did- the vision that Wanda had given him back during Ultron that led to the robot’s invention. “Can we ask… who?”
You looked around the room… most of the original team survived… but then you looked at the kid, Peter, who seemed totally infatuated and dedicated to what you were saying. You hadn’t met him in person until now, but you’d seen his movie, and you felt awfully protective of him already. Peter seemed to realise you were looking at him for a long period of time, and he pointed to himself, and you nodded. “I die?”
“You probably hurt the most for a lot of people… your uh… your spidey sense picked up something was happening and that you were dying before anything happened… Wanda dies as well, and Vision dies permanently because of Thanos- you die as well, Strange and… T’Challa, Bucky, Sam, Fury, Maria… Clint’s entire family.” You listed off, thinking of who the group knew at this time. “There’s a bunch of others of people you haven’t met. But two other key people die in this movie, and I don’t know if I can prevent their deaths at the hand of Thanos, but hopefully me getting Fury to call on his friend can do something for at least one of them.” You explained, mostly looking at the floor. You couldn’t bring yourself to look at them as you told them the harsh truth of what they were against.
“... There’s something else, isn’t there?” Stephen asked, making you look up at him. “This is a diverted timeline, and you’ve been actively telling Thanos’ followers that he needs to go against you.” He pointed out. “Am I right in believing that Thanos heard you’re from another world and is trying to get there? Your world?”
“...Yep. A world with no heroes to protect it. Imagine the destruction. That’s part of the decision I had to make.” You admitted with a bitter smile, a pain in your voice.
“And what was that decision?” Pietro asked.
“It’s simple really. Stay at home and hope you guys succeed unlike in your movie alternative line… or come here, help you fight him and ensure it goes right… and shut the door behind me to make sure he can’t go through, so even if it all does go wrong… at least he’s contained.” You pointed out.
“You trapped yourself here? For us?” Tony asked. You nodded, and for some reason… you felt proud of yourself. Proud of your decision.
“Of course I did. You’re my friends. I’d do it again. And we’re gonna win this. Firstly, we’re all together in this timeline, and we’re stronger together, two, we know what’s coming and what to expect for the most part- we might have a few surprises still in terms of other teams coming to help us fight- like the friend I’ve had Fury call- she doesn’t help in this fight, but she’s powerful and can definitely help in this fight tremendously. Secondly, I have a plan on how we’re gonna win, and there’s one key part to it. All you guys have got to do is fight the aliens, keep Vision and the Time Stone safe as possible and out of danger and away from Thanos, and lastly… You need to get me as close as possible to that purple asshole.”
“Are you sure about this?” Steve asked you as you stood beside him on the fields of Wakanda, watching as the aliens charged at the force field protecting the land. You watched closely.
“Yep. The second they start going around, open a section.” You instructed T'Challa on the other side of you. As you’d told him and as predicted, they started to force themselves through, mutilating themselves, before they started to circle. T’Challa gave the order, and a small section opened, and they started to pour through. “Alright, let’s go.”
With that nod, the war began. You started to run, watching as T’Challa, Pietro and Steve ran ahead, Sam, Rhodey ,Strange and Tony flying ahead, and everyone else besides Wanda and Vision running beside you, and as you met in the middle, the carnage began.
You stayed as close as you could to Natasha and Okoye to have their back as you fought, your body remembering the training that the assassin had given you what seemed like forever ago and also just days ago. The entire time, your mind remained focussed on seeing who would show up first- Thor, Danvers and the Guardians, or Thanos. You kept looking up for any sign of a new approaching aircraft, barely missing being hit by a Chitauri, though luckily you had someone watching your back to shoot it dead and pull you from harm’s way. You looked to see who it was, seeing the long haired man with the metal arm. “Thanks James.” You thanked, deciding to focus on the fight in the current moment and worry later. Part of you just sort of hoped that Thanos would show up first- just to get this all over and done with.
“No problem. You got a plan in mind for when Thanos shows up?” Bucky asked, shooting an approaching Chitauri.
“Sure do.” You confirmed, focussing your own weapon and shooting.
“Does that include you dying by any chance?” Bucky inquired. Your eyes naturally looked back at him. You were shoulder to shoulder but facing away from each other, having to look over your shoulder to meet eyes- which they did. “Steve told me a lot about you, and he told me about your vague plan. Does part of it include you dying? Because if so, let’s try and figure something else out.”
“It shouldn’t come to that, I promise.” You told him, before you finally saw what you were looking for- an approaching aircraft, and the better one, and not long behind that was dark clouds swirling in the air, and a golden blast hitting the ground, taking out multiple enemies, and then a bolt of lighting hitting close to you and Bucky. As your eyes adjusted, you saw your old friend, Thor… and right beside him, Loki. A smile couldn’t help but find it’s way to your face, and Thor looked just as overjoyed to see you as he took giant strides over, engulfing you in a tight hug. “Good to see you two made it out alright!” You laughed.
“And I’m more than thrilled to see you again!” He responded as he let go of you, before he looked out on the battlefield.
“I don’t believe we’ve met.” Loki interrupted, inserting himself. “But my brother has mentioned you… you know what’s going to happen, correct?” Loki asked.
“That’s right, but now it’s more planning and predicting because events have diverted- several people are where they originally weren’t meant to be, including you. To keep it easy there’s a goal for both of you- Loki, can you help Wanda Maximoff guard Vision? I know you have the space stone, so it’s best to be next to her if worst comes to worst. Thor, I’ve got one instruction for you- aim for the head. Pietro! Get Loki to your sister!” You called, and in a moment, Loki was dashed off, and you continued in your fight. This was good… with Danvers and the others here, there was less chance of Wanda feeling obligated to jump into the fight and leave Vision unprotected…
“Are you sure it’s okay to have Loki near all the stones?” You heard Tony over the earpiece.
“Yes, Tony. I know stuff you don’t.”
“Such as?” You heard Steve ask.
“In the original beginning of this movie, Loki tries to deceive Thanos to save Thor, and actually dies because of it. This Loki isn’t the same Loki as you knew from 2012.” You assured them. “Hey- question- does anyone have visuals on a green girl who came with the new group?” You inquired.
“Yep… she’s scary, to be honest.” Sam commented. You grinned. Thanos didn’t have the soul stone, either. This could be easier than you thought… or, it could be your downfall.
“Looks like he’s here.” Natasha commented. You looked up, seeing as his ship arrived. You took a deep breath in. This was it. The final stretch. Things could either go perfectly or tits up now.
“Y/N, I know your plan is to get close to him, so I’ve gotten you an extra layer of protection to be safe.” Tony announced to you over the intercom.
“What?” You asked confused, looking around to try and locate him. What had he done?
“FRIDAY, dispatch suit sacrifice.” Tony announced, and just a moment later, you saw the suit approach you, and open up for you. “Try it on for size- you might need to wear it in a bit like a new pair of shoes.” He joked with you.  You cautiously stepped in, trying not to panic as it shut around you, and the AI turned on. Suddenly, you felt just a bit braver in what you were about to do.
“Tony, did you have to call it sacrifice?” Bruce inquired.
“He has a point- you make it sound like Y/N is going to their death with their plan.” Natasha pointed out.
“Look, it’s called that because they made the sacrifice to-”
“Tony, please be quiet, we don’t need him overhearing us and ruining the surprise.” You warned, getting a feel for the controls, before joining Tony in the sky. “Alright, where is he?”
“He’s on the field, and he’s heading straight for you. Do you need me down there?” Wanda came over the earpiece.
“Wanda, you and Loki are to protect the stones- if Thanos gets his hands on any of them he’ll get a hell of a lot stronger and more of a pain in the ass for us. I’m plan A, Plan B is Danvers, Plan C is Thor, Plan D is we all jump him and try and pull the gauntlet off him, and you’re plan E, alright? It shouldn’t come to that.”
“You’re really throwing everything at him, huh?” Steve asked.
“Motherfucker’s like a cockroach, better be safe than sorry… alright, let’s do this. You guys focus on the Chitauri, someone get Danver’s and Thor’s attention on the plan at hand… wish me luck.” You said, before going headfirst at Thanos.
“Kid, please be careful.” You heard Tony beg quietly. His comment made your heart beat even harder, knowing what was fully at stake here… in the back of your mind though, you hoped that the worst case scenario is that you’re the only one to be lost. Now for your own plan on how you’re going to do this. Part one- deceive
As you got close to Thanos, you took a shot at him with the thruster on your hand, that he shielded himself with and as you got close enough, he hit you away like a fly- a lot harder than you were admittedly prepared for, knocking you more than a few feet away, and you felt yourself tumble, glitches and warnings popping up in your vision, and the blurred and distorted sound of your friends calling for you in concern upon seeing what happened. “I’m okay. I’m fine.” You promised them, hoping they heard as you came to a stop. It hurt like hell, but you were thankful for the suit that definitely broke your fall. You grunted, slowly getting up, hearing thumping coming towards you, and as you looked up, you saw it was Thanos, coming and taking another hit, hitting you even further and into the shrubbery of the nearby trees- where it all went down last time. Fine by you. This time you stayed on the floor for a moment, hunched over, holding yourself in genuine pain. Your helmet retracted, and as you looked down at the dirt, a drop of blood hit the soil, immediately being soaked up. You didn’t bother to investigate the bleeding, knowing your main concern was the approaching Titan. His pace was suddenly slow, almost taunting. You looked up at him as he towered over you.
“So, you wanted to take me on face to face?” He asked in an unimpressed tone. You smiled at him- tasting blood on your lips as you did so.
“Well, as the self- asserted ambassador of my universe, I think it’s important we talk about your planned invasion.” You commented. “Mostly, about how it’s not gonna happen.”
“Oh really?” He asked, reaching down at you, and in a moment his hand was around your throat, lifting you up from the ground. Your hand naturally grabbed at his to try and loosen his grip as you struggled to breathe. Your mind flashed to how Loki died, but you pushed those thoughts back. “You’re nothing like your friends. You’re just a scared child in a world too powerful for you.” He tormented you. You kept your eyes focussed on him as you kept a tight grip on his hand. You tried to breathe to the best of your ability. “What exactly did you have planned when we reached this point?” He asked, a slight head tilt of inquisitivity.
“You know, you’re right… I was scared, and I was tiny compared to my friends… but there’s one thing you should have kept in mind.” You fought to speak through your short breaths. Thanos seemed to wait for your response, and you gave it. “I know what’s supposed to happen here today, and more importantly… someone very powerful has given me the chance to change that, and… it’s safe to say I’ve already done that… and I’m not one to spoil movies… but this one’s ending with you dead.”
“And how are you going to achieve that?” He asked, seeming to not take you seriously. You smiled at him again, this time though, it wasn’t a nervous, almost scared smile, trying to be brave. You were cocky. Proud. Confident, and your smile was accompanied by a sinister giggle, which seemed to drain any confidence from Thanos… and it wasn’t the only thing you had drained from him. It seemed then, Thanos noticed that the few stones in the gauntlet that was wrapped around your throat, that you had been clawing at and grabbing wildly at to break free of just moments ago… had dulled in colour. And then he felt what happened.
A pained scream ripped through the battlefield, catching the attention of everyone nearby, and been picked up over the earpieces. “What was-”
“Thor! Carol! Get to Y/N now!” Steve ordered, not wanting to wait any longer, terrified that the distant cry had been you. The second he had seen you fly at Thanos he had lost almost all faith in your plan, especially since he didn’t actually know what you had in mind. No one did. Damn you and your ‘No Spoilers’ rule, making him worried sick. They’ve just gotten you back, what if they were losing you again at the hands of that monster?
“Wait… WAIT!” Steve turned to the call, seeing the green woman you had inquired about earlier- Gamora, he had learnt her name was. Carol and Thor stopped, though fully powered up, ready to go. “That’s… that’s Thanos.” She confirmed.
“As in…” Natasha started from the other side of her.
“Y/N’s winning.”
Thanos’s screams didn’t stop as you focussed all your pent up energy at him. You were now stood over him, hands clenched into his flesh, refusing to let go- the power of the, well, power stone, really helped in keeping your grip on him as he tried to pull you off for dear life. Surrounding you and Thanos was bright, almost rainbow aura, dancing violently against you both. You felt it as energy and power- energy and power Thanos had essentially baby fed to you in the form of those punches and letting you get so close to the stones, and now all that energy was being thrust back at him excruciatingly. This was the power you had asked for from Stan Lee. Energy manipulation- the ability to absorb any form of energy- where that be kinetic, electric, light, heat- hell, even atomic, and then use it as you desire, whether that be lasers, energy bursts, or what you were doing right now- a transfer. Your body could handle it, but you knew from the end of the movie that Thanos couldn’t. Now the part you doubted- he only got to that state with all the stones. Thanos had two on him. You needed more energy.
“Thor! Carol!” You called for them, hoping they’d hear you over his screams or over your earpiece that you presumed broken. “Aim for me! Blast me with energy-anything! I need energy!” You begged. You felt your power starting to fade, and you started to feel that fear come back- you were losing, he was going to get up with a vengeance and destroy you and this world-
A blast hit you from behind, nearly knocking you onto Thanos, but all of a sudden you felt your power grow tremendously, and you put your effort back into your attack. You noticed that part of Thanos’ skin where one of your hands was placed was starting to darken, burning into something resembling charcoal. You were getting somewhere.
Another hit to your back- this one being the familiar feeling of a shock of eclectic but thousands of volts more powerful. You felt yourself grow powerful enough to be able to remove your hands but still have your affect on him. You felt the energy enter your blood, converting into what you needed, before being excreted and thrusted into the titan as he withered in pain on the floor. You focussed your energy to surround him in a shell of destruction, your hands mimicking that of Wanda’s in a way she’d be proud of.
Another energy source hit you- this one not knocking you or shocking you. You turned your head slightly to see who it was, seeing that past Carol and Thor, was Tony’s suit, firing it’s blasters at you. And then, two new faces emerged- Wanda and Vision, both focussing their power, and thrusting it at you, and behind all of them, you saw the Chitauri realising what was happening and starting to try and flee. Time to wrap this up. You looked back at the purple Titan, imagining the shell of energy you’d wrapped Thanos in was between your hands, and you started to press down, a glow brightly where everyone had to squint, turn their heads or shut their eyes, before for a second the area where Thanos was seemed to shrink dramatically before exploding out in a flash, blinding everyone. Not Thor and Carol, not Wanda, Vision and Tony, not Steve, Bucky, Strange, Natasha, Parker and Quill, T’Challa, Bruce and Gamora who had come to see what was happening- but everyone on the battlefield. It was like a bomb had gone off, and for a moment, people cried in fear that it had happened, before the light faded.
Everyone let their eyes adjust, before looking around. No Chitauri. No sign of them, though their ships still stood, showing they didn’t evacuate the planet. Then they noticed the dust blowing in the wind.
Those closest to the blast took a moment longer to adjust, and had actually been blown back by the energy release, but were soon up on their feet and unscathed. “What was that?” Rhodey asked over the earpiece.
“Y/N… Y/N won. They destroyed Thanos.” Gamora breathed out a sigh. A silence fell over the field as everyone began to check on each other, and then when they realised it was over, the started to celebrate with smiles and hugs.
“Wait… where’s the kid?” Sam asked.
Steve was the first to run back to the location of the blast- a small crater was located where Thanos once lay and where you once stood. “Oh no…” Natasha gasped when she saw it, before Pietro dashed past her, following and going ahead of Steve and Tony in getting into the hole first, immediately digging through the rubble for any sight of you. Natasha felt a hand on her shoulder that was cold, and she knew it was Bucky trying to comfort her as she watched as Vision and Thor went in as well, and Wanda stood on the edge, using her powers to force larger boulders out, but Natasha heard her starting to sob as she didn’t immediately find you, and she reached out, pulling her back and into her arms to hold the younger woman as she sobbed.
“Come on kid, where are you…” Steve muttered as he pulled rocks to the side along with the others.
“FRIDAY, are there any life signs? Body heat? Anything?” Tony asked desperately.
“Please wait a moment Mr Stark.”
“It can’t wait. Barnes, get your ass in here to help! Strange,  I know you can help!” Tony called at two who weren’t helping. Bucky pardoned himself from the two girls to go help. He passed Strange as he did so.
“They’re probably not in there.” Strange pointed out in a whisper to him. Bucky stopped, and looked at him.
“Doesn’t matter. We owe it to them to at least try and find anything.” He answered shortly, before sliding into the crater. Without a word, Stephen followed.
Peter stood on the edge, wanting to help in whatever way he could- he knew from what you had told him that if you hadn’t had done this, he would be dead himself, and so would a lot of other people that were stood around him, including people in that pit searching for you. However, it was getting crowded in there and he didn’t want to make it worse, so instead he waited for instructions on what to do. Does he go and try and comfort Wanda with Natasha who he had noticed had also started crying though silently? Does he rush to go gather medical equipment for Banner and Shuri to treat you if they find you? He had to do something, he knew that much… he heard Bucky’s comment, and he was right. He owed it to you to do something. As his eyes examined everything, looking for anything he could do to help, he saw it.
“Mr Stark! Over here!” Peter announced loudly, pointing into the crater, not stopping himself as he slid down in the hole, stumbling and falling but not caring as he started to lift a boulder, before being assisted by Steve, and then Tony and the others as they saw what he saw- a hand, resting limply between the stones. As they dug further, they revealed more of you- all in one piece, which was good.
“We need medical care now!” Sam announced. Pietro left the crater, rushing off to gather what was needed as the others worked, and by the time Pietro was back with Shuri and the essentials, they had you out of the ground. Wanda gathered herself, walking over, and she used her powers to lift you from the arms of Steve, pulling your body with grace out of the rubble, and resting you on the ground where Shuri and Bruce immediately started to check you over. You looked peaceful to them- a head injury was clear, and blood dripped from your nose and mouth, covered in dirt and dust.
“We’ve got a pulse.” Shuri confirmed quickly. “And a strong one.” A sigh of relief came over the surrounding people.
“So they’re gonna be okay?” Natasha asked.
“Other than a concussion? Yeah, I think they just knocked themselves out.” Bruce smiled up at her reassuringly. “Give them a few minutes, then you can badger them about scaring us shitless.”
“Oh they’re not hearing the end of this. I’m holding this against them for at least 5 years.” Tony joked as he leant on Steve, who breathed out an exhausted laugh.
“They’re definitely something.” Carol Danvers commented to Thor. “Any chance I can borrow them on occasion to help me?” She asked.
“I’m sure we can arrange that, but I have a feeling you’re not gonna be the only ones asking for their help.” Thor grinned at her. She hummed, amused as they watched over the group as you grumbled, starting to gain consciousness again.
“Welcome back to the living, Y/N.” Pietro greeted you as soon as you woke up. “Since I helped dig you out and got the medical equipment, does that make us even?” He asked.
“Ha… as if, speedy.” You croaked at him before coughing up the dust in your throat.
“Alright, the bickering can wait, let’s get them to my lab for a proper check over.” Shuri shushed everyone back other than Bruce. “Wanda, help please?” The princess asked, Wanda happily helping, Vision right behind her, a hand on her shoulder as they walked back. Rhodey went and stood on the other side of Tony, and nudged him to get his attention.
“Bet you regret calling their suit the sacrifice now, huh?”
Hope you like it! If you have any questions, please send them in!

SOOOO about the DSIMOM trailer...
Apologies for not commenting on the MoM trailer earlier, the whole sh*t show broke loose just a few minutes prior to the trailer and I was in a very dark place to even watch it. I only did the next day and then started rewatching it over and over to look for references and cameos and easter eggs.
All I can say is, the leaks are all true if we compare them to the trailer. So I kinda know what to expect from it already?
Comic-wise, there isn’t much to add other than: Stephen sleeping naked (A+ *chef’s kiss*) and having nightmares (which could or could not be related to Nightmare himself), the dino thing is probably a reference to the Savage Land (but I’m not so sure), Shuma-Gorath, Rintrah and the Illuminati. (and well, if the leaks are true, a very special character for the post-credit scene)
Overall, it’s not a movie that will adapt anything from the comic books, that much I can say for sure. In fact, there’s more from What If...? than anything comic-related (if we, of course, ignore the fact that the tv show was inspired by a comic book series).
*sigh* This is the hardest part for me to elaborate because you just know her stans are infamous, so here comes nothing. I’m not comfortable with Wanda’s role AT ALL. Mostly because MCU!Wanda is just... Not what Wanda truly represents in comics. I’m not a Wanda expert but I read a lot about how Bendis’ portrayal of her character in House of M is harmful not only because she’s a WOC but also because that’s a really bad portrayal of mental illness in general. So yes. Most of MCU!Wanda stans are cheering and rooting for her to be this unhinged female villain and... Okay. But that’s not my cup of tea, I’m sorry.
On a side note, basically variants are an established thing in the MCU now. It’s not ~new~ as I once pointed on the Loki post (Kangs, Dooms and Reeds are the most common examples). But it has grown more popular after Loki.
Stephen dealt with his “variants” before, and I quote-unquote because they’re not really variants, they are constructs of artificial realities (such as Counter-Earth). So we will be surprised by his interaction with other variants.
There are 9509836093486034 problematic things behind the scenes and honestly I don’t have the energy nor I want to dissect any of that more than I already did. With that being said, I see that Stephen will end up corrupting himself for magic, and that makes me giggle a little, ngl. It’s an aspect of Stephen that I love. Don’t get me wrong, it’s painful to see him being corrupted, but it’s also part of his whole characterization: going to such lengths in order to save/control everything, abusing magic due to his arrogance AND expericing one of his most important traits - guilt. So yes. I’m 100% looking forward to it.
Oh, yes. The Illuminati. Not the group of men doing stupid things because of their arrogance I ideally would have in mind but hey, there’s Patrick Stewart’s Xavier! And yes, X-men movies are my guilty pleasure from childhood. I’m not going to expect other former FOX characters to appear because I already know the five members of this group. But who knows? People are begging for Reed to appear, and I’d love that because, although Victor is....... not it, the FF are not that bad, all things considered. And I’m dying for a good FF movie so yes. Let me dream a bit.
Am I really happy about the plot? No. Am I mad at the plot? No. Would I rather have Scott Derrickson adapting a movie involving Nightmare and exploring Stephen’s traumas and fears? Yes. But we cannot have it all, can we? Am I hyped? Maybe, my mood is iffy so I’m not a very reliable source atm, and I don’t want to ruin people’s experiences so I dunno, I’m just sharing my thoughts. One thing is true, though. I’ll try and watch it asap. Because I am, for better or worse, a Marvel worm. And I’ll consume anything they throw at me.
Also I need Waldron to stop writing for Marvel, if the rumors that Benedict had to co-direct the movie in order to make it about Stephen are true.
Lastly... I dunno what kind of magic is this but Stephen in this movie is just so HHHHHHHH. It’s a first for me, so it’s a big deal :’)
Aaaand that’s it.

I’m curious why SamBucky is so rare-ish in these streets when it comes to pairing Bucky with an MCU character? I get it, I get it, with the Stucky ‘end of the line’; we been teaming up since the comic book days spiel. I personally see Bucky and Steve as brothers after Captain America: The Winter Soldier cause it felt like Bucky was ready to adopt Steve after his mother, who was his only remaining family, died.
That’s me. I know everyone not going to see it in that light. But Bucky gives me big brother vibes whenever he has to save pipsqueak Steve in the MCU. Plus the original comics had Bucky as an adorable, little sidekick that would make you think reverse big brother and little brother, with Steve being the big brother and Bucky the little brother. I don’t read the comics so it might just me. No offense.
Tumblr media
Is it really about the, Steve knew him longer thing? I mean other than possibly Natasha in the comics, Bucky has no clearly defined MCU love interests. Bucky was a flirt before he met Sarah Wilson, so him being able to flirt, just proves he’s coming into his own. I’m not saying he doesn’t like Sarah that way. But he also flirted with Peggy in the first Captain America movie because he’s a lady killer and was more than willing to take the two girls off Steve’s hand at the Stark Expo when Steve floundered. Steve/Tony I sorta get with the enemies to lover trope. The Bucky x Clint thing is really mind-boggling to me because there were no interaction between them in the MCU; so something must have happened in the comics. So okay... But the fact that Sam had more interaction with Bucky in the MCU and had a whole comic book series with him and Bucky shouldn’t have the ships OF SamBucky and Sam x Clint at a 700+ fanfic difference. Fandoms are so weird sometimes... anyway...
Sam and Steve are the only ones in the MCU who really interact with Bucky outside the strong and beautiful people of Wakanda. None of the Wakandians seem interested in Bucky, except in maybe a familial way. Like they found a stray cat, nursed and raised it; but the cat is still an outdoor cat that might visit from time to time, but is mostly out there doing its on thing. Just the feeling I get with how comfortable Bucky was interacting with Princess Shuri and/or the Dora Milaje. They respect him, fixed him, and let Bucky roam free.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steve is somewhere on the moon or wherever, in The Falcon and Winter Soldier tv series and Sam is the only one willing to stay in contact with Bucky. Shoot in Endgame only Sam and Steve were Bucky’s only people because Steve protecting Bucky caused a rift between the Avengers. It was repaired, but Team Iron Man doesn’t know Bucky at all, and/or don’t seem interested. Team Captain America are either dead (Natasha), being with their family (Clint and Scott), or dealing with their own shit (Steve and Wanda). So that leaves Sam. That’s really no coincidence even though I’ll admit, Steve going to a support group to more Peggy instead of his two best friends that were recently missing was kind of shitty.
So again, getting back on track, why isn’t their more Sambucky love? We already know Stucky is default most popular in the fandom for Bucky pairing. But Sam, who has the enemies turn friends aspect about him and has been the only one, besides Steve, who openly tried to find Bucky. I mean what better love story is it for a man who went from thinking Bucky would be better off dead, to suddenly sacrificing his 9 to 5 and freedom to search for Bucky and help him escape the airport in Germany?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean SamBucky is one of the few ships that has a foundation of amazing content from Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s interactions with each other. Mackie and Sebastian literally went from play pretending like they couldn’t stand each other, to damn near needing someone to chaperone them in their interviews because they so random shit, flirt and love to be close. Sebastian has talked about Mackie more than any costar and Mackie has a wonderful knack for finding Sebastian on any red carpet event to compliment the hell out of him. They literally had a show created for the two characters because of that amazing chemistry and Sebastian even co-signed on it with this gem below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The MCU was throwing Bucky and Sam together over and over again, way before they got their own tv series. They argued together, fought each other, tried to one up each other by ripping wings and dropkicking from the air. Even in the television show big-hearted Sam willingly allows Bucky to go on a top secret government mission with him. Checks in on him constantly to make sure he’s okay. The only one that defends Bucky against people like Zemo, Sharon and John Walker.
Tumblr media
Sam really was the one person that helped put most of Bucky’s demons to rest in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He gave him the tough love he needed in the end. He gave him purpose. He teased him like he was a normal person and not a former, brain-washed assassin. Sam watched over Bucky because he wanted to. Steve never asked him to check on Bucky. Steve never asked Sam to help him find Bucky. Steve never asked for Sam to sacrifice his freedom and go to the raft just so Bucky and Steve could escape in the airport. Sam volunteered to do that all on his own because he saw how worthy Bucky was.
Why else would Sam have him on a top government mission? Why else would he try to bail out Bucky from jail or follow Steve and Bucky against his Avenger allies? Why else would he let Bucky talk him into let Zemo go? Or any of the other insane things they did together, unless he didn’t care?
And that’s what Bucky needs, someone to give a damn about him. Someone to text him and chase after him. Someone to defend him and remind him that he’s not the Winter Soldier anymore. Someone to offer him a place to stay and normalcy. Someone who isn’t afraid to introduce to his family or watch his six in a battle. Someone touch him because he knows Bucky’s been touch-starved or tease him because he’s not afraid to be next to him.
Tumblr media
Sam knows this Bucky. The Bucky who was determined to give the Shield to Sam. The Bucky who dangled kids off his arm while talking to Sam’s sister. The Bucky who has trouble sleeping at night because he still has demons. The Bucky who tried to kill him because he didn’t have control of his own body The Bucky who was just as broken as Sam when Steve just Peggy over them. The Bucky who is trying to find purpose in a world that has forgotten about him. He doesn’t have to remake himself into the old Bucky for Steve because Sam only knows this Bucky. Bucky doesn’t have to be anybody, but himself around Sam and he is.
Tumblr media
I mean maybe people  don’t care to pair Bucky with Sam because he was against saving Bucky the first time; or didn’t pull up the car seat; or didn’t want to jump in believing Bucky after he threw him across the room by his chin; or maybe because Sam’s black... WHO KNOWS.
I just thought it was odd that the fandom doesn’t respect Anthony Mackie as a whole, too. Like the poor man has to insert himself into interviews with his white costars just to not be pretty arm candy. But that’s another rant for another post.

Hawkeye finale DNI if you haven’t seen it ‼️‼️‼️‼️
Uhhhh few things
Instead of crying on a Wednesday at 5 am I cried in a Wednesday at 8 am, I fixed my sleeping schedule y’all! So that was something
I honest to god love whenever Kate and Yelena interact, they’re so good for each other I can’t wait for future projects. I mean, Yelena was ready to have that drink with Kate lmao
I thought the LARPers thing was dumb at the beginning but man I love those guys now, so happy they’re all okay
Uhhhhh Kate’s mom, we were right! It was Eleanor all along! (And she killed the dad too we just haven’t discussed that (I think, she’s still evil tho))
Maya, darling Maya, if you truly killed Kingpin, you might have just done what I’m assuming Daredevil really really really wanted to do (idk I haven’t watched that series, gonna have to get on it now) in any case we’ll know when her series comes out
Soooo the watch was Laura’s, and it’s from SHIELD. Few thoughts: a) I read on here that someone thought it maybe could be Bobbie Morse with a secret identity but idk how much of that I believe, b) she’s just a retired SHIELD agent or my personal favorite c) she spoke German, and Clint has a thing for helping people who want out of evil organizations so, my guess is she’s ex HYDRA and defected to SHIELD. Maybe she’s just bilingual, maybe she’s just option b, but I think that last one would make her infinitely more interesting
That after credits scene killed me. I was looking forward to an after credits scene since there hasn’t been one the whole time and then they did That. I’m exhausted all of a sudden and I just woke up
All in all, awesome series. I did NOT expect to feel sympathy for Clint since I’ve been so hellbent in disliking him (IN THE MCU ONLY, CLINT STANS DNI) since E*dgame, but hey, I can admit to being wrong. Now I’ll focus my anger on the real enemy, the R*ssos (this is a joke but lowkey they suck).
ALSO
I watched Spider-man: No Way Home on Monday so, some thoughts on that! DO NOT READ ON IF YOU HAVENT SEEN IT ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️:
What the fuck man???
Geometry saves the day? I feel attacked bc I suck at math and I could never
The villains played a smaller roll than I thought like they played an important roll duh, but I feel like Peter’s biggest enemy was himself in this one
So much fan service in the best way, gosh I haven’t screamed in a movie theater like that since E*dgame
Which also brings me to, multiplication bc Peter times 3? I knew it was coming but I still yelled. I also found out my mom’s favorite Spider-Man is Tobey
Also, I cried a bit too, but not as much as that girl a few rows down who was literally sobbing and saying “no” towards the end. Girly I feel you but wow

hi sorry i hope this isn't rude but are you saying it as a joke when you say mcu fans/mcu!wanda fans dni with my edits or are you being serious? because people don't really check op's tags or bios that often or even if they do, they don't always care it's just a beautiful edit they want to share. and it probably helps you gain more followers and them learn more about 616wanda so it's actually a good thing? ^^c
oh im completely serious. i think if someone who has wendy plastered all over their blog thinks a graphic where i make a point of unwhitewashing her and including quotes about her heritage is for them, HONESTLY using their brain thinks that post is for them, or that they are not a huge part of the problem in SEEING the difference between that and their mcu feminist queen, then they are willingly ignoring and excusing what's been done to wanda as a character. and pietro (twice) and billy and tommy.
at this point, if someone is as obsessed w mcu wanda as a lot of people are on here, there's NO WAY they are not aware of the ongoing criticism. they know it's there, they just don't care and they're ok with it. it's been the better part of a decade. people know. and the people that didn't know, and cared enough to learn and change their outlook on it already have. i personally probably let it slide a lot more in the beginning than i do now. learning is super easy
honestly, i'm good for notes and for followers, i'd rather not have any interaction or overlap w those people. if its a 30 note post because no wendy stans interacted with it, im at peace w that. none of my graphics are for them, not just the wanda ones. i'm good. hard pass

I have been going through the wandavision tags because i genuinely like seeing people’s theories and stuff, but also I generally dislike interacting with the mcu fandom at large, so my favorite thing to do when I see one of the many “Wanda is actually evil and the villain” posts in that tag is going on the OP’s blog and seeing if they’re a Tony Stark stan and they literally always are

What I Thought About The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Salutations to you, random people on the internet who most likely won't read this. I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons!
Gonna be honest, I didn't think The Falcon and the Winter Soldier needed to be a full-length TV series. I mean, if Spider-Man can discover that he didn't have to replace Iron Man in a two-hour and nine-minute long movie, then the Falcon can learn he can't replace Steve Rogers in the same amount of time, right? I was excited, don't get me wrong, but I didn't know how they can fit a plot for a movie into a six-hour-long series. Unlike WandaVision, which needed to be a TV show to get those TV homages right for each episode, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier didn’t sound like something that would honestly work better as a film. But, once it started airing, and my excitement increased each week, I can positively say that it would not have worked as successfully if it wasn't a TV series.
Unfortunately, I'll have to get into spoilers to explain why, but trust me when I say that if you haven't checked it out yet, you definitely should. Because I'm about to dive in (or fly in) as I explain why The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is easily in the top tier MCU projects.
WHAT I LIKE
Sam Wilson: If WandaVision was about developing Wanda, then The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is about developing Sam. He might share the spotlight with Bucky, but this is so clearly Sam's story. It's his journey of becoming the new Captain America that gets more of a focus, and it is one of the best aspects of the series. And as I said, it's similar to Spider-Man's journey in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Sure, this time, it's more about stepping up to the mantle, but both Sam and Peter have to learn how to be their own hero rather than replace the one left behind. In Sam's case, it's more than just being the new Captain America, but also being the black Captain America. I'll talk more about the implications of that later, but for now, all I'll say is that it was so engaging seeing Sam accept his role. Plus, even though Sam tries to carry Steve's title, that doesn't mean he's Steve Rogers 2.0. He has his own ardor and personality as Captain America, on top of still representing the aspects of what that title entails. Partial credit for that goes to Anthony Mackie, who does a phenomenal job of portraying a man who's inspirational and charming in all forms of hell. I'd salute him as much as I'd want to have a beer with him...except not really because I refuse to touch a single drop of alcohol. But Sam Wilson would make me consider it! Because he's that good of a character.
Bucky Barnes: Much like Vision in WandaVision, Bucky takes the sidelines as Sam acts as the main face of the series. Unlike Vision, however, Bucky's story seems more like its own thing rather than something that's connected with his co-star. In a way, it's better, but it also seems worse. Because without having it be locked with Sam's story, Bucky's is still compelling as it develops him further in his own way. His journey may not be as engaging as Sam's, but it's still entertaining enough to watch his own narrative get continued in small spurts. Although, the fact that Bucky's story has little to do with Sam's does have the unfortunate side-effect that he doesn't need to be there. His inclusion is very much welcomed, but I feel like Bucky dealing with his own guilt and trauma as the Winter Soldier could be something that can fill up its own series rather than half of one. That being said, Bucky absolutely needs to be in this show. The emotional turmoil that Sabastian Stan portrays so well hits hard, and his dry humor works for some comedic highlights. Bucky's half of the story might be unnecessary for plot reasons, but it is unquestionably necessary for enjoyment.
There’s a lot of talking: This seems like a misstep, especially since most superhero shows are bogged down by characters talking to pad out the run time. Although, the dialogue in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is more like the dialogue in the series Daredevil. There are more words than action, but nearly every line is so incredibly engaging that I do not care. Sam and his sister talking to a banker about getting a loan might not sound as entertaining as Sam being in an air chase against terrorists, but I surprisingly held onto every word being said due to how well-acted it was. Plus, these discussions help make these characters more human on top of making the world feel believable. I understand the argument of show don't tell, but to me, as long as the dialogue is written well enough and said convincingly, I can learn to live with it.
The Flag Smashers: The concept of the Flag Smashers intrigues me. The idea that a group of people believes things were actually better when half the world got turned to dust is a perfect concept for the MCU to explore. In fact, this is the third story in a row that dives deep into the consequences of what happened post-Infinity War and Endgame, and I'm all for it! The universe is forever changed by this one big event, and it's not going to be irrelevant anytime soon. For the Flag Smashers, they offer the most striking glimpse of how the world is forever changed. Now, I'll admit, after seeing doom and gloom in Avengers: Endgame, it would be better to see the benefits of the Blip that characters claim to have existed rather than told about them. But seeing how there were dozens of fans who made the audacious claim that Thanos was right, I don't consider it too far of a stretch to believe that the Flag Smashers could exist. Especially since the arguments that characters present do seem persuasive enough. It's only the actions that the group makes that derail any sense of the discussion. But in a good way...for the most part. But I’ll get into that later too.
The Reveal of the new “Captain America”: This was the dirtiest, sickening punch in the gut that the first episode could have ended on...and I love it!
John Walker: I often find the best antagonists are the ones I'm willing to psychologically analyze. That's John Walker in a nutshell. He is an arrogant ass who deserved to get slapped around when taking things too far. Yet, I always find myself coming back to those scenes where he seems conflicted about becoming the new Captain America. I get a sense that he genuinely wants to do the right thing and those moments when he asks if he is all but confirms it. John's problem is the constant support he's given by his friends. I'd argue that building his ego is the very reason why he gets frustrated so quickly by people denying him, as he often reacts like a toddler who throws a tantrum when a parent makes the "mistake" of saying “no.” This is why it's satisfying seeing people more powerful than John kick the s**t out of him because it results in his ego going through a well-needed deflation. Still, the constant frustrations he has for not being respected as the new Captain America makes his further descent into insanity all the more appealing to watch. Because him taking the super-soldier serum proves Dr. Erskine's theory is true: "Good becomes great. Bad becomes worse."
...And this is why the writers dropped the ball when trying to make John Walker redeemable. It's exceptional if that was the intention. After all, I did say there were glimpses of a man who wanted to become great, not worse. However, given what John does in later episodes, we're going to need more than glimpses to believe his switch from bad to good. Especially since his decision to set his anger aside to suddenly help people is a little too unbelievable for my tastes given how fast it happens. It's not an awful decision. It's just one that needed a bit more polish. I still find John Walker an incredible character regardless, but I don't blame people for being a tad more hesitant given how poorly paced his redemption arc came across as.
Readapting “Star-Spangled Man”: I adore this for two reasons.
Reason #1: It's a solid callback to Captain America: The First Avenger, which I will always stand by as my favorite Captain America movie.
Reason #2: It proves how much John Walker doesn't understand what it means to be Captain America. When Steve did this song and dance routine in his movie, he hated it. Better yet, Steve despised it. Because he wasn't helping anybody. He was just being a dancing monkey to appeal to civilians, and you see how much he regrets doing it with each show. For John, he relishes the whole thing, because of course, he would! John loves having his ego appealed to, and this routine is doing nothing but inflates it. It's a solid case of visual storytelling to prove to the audience just how disconnected John is from being Captain America. Steve or Sam wouldn't have done this, because being a hero is more than respect and adoration. It's about actually doing the right thing. A lesson that John desperately needs to learn.
Sam’s and Bucky’s bromance: You remember how I said that Bucky's dry sense of humor can be a comedic highlight? Well, that's only second rate to the times he and Sam bicker like an old married couple. Whether it's because of the writing, directing, or Makie’s and Stan's natural chemistry, seeing Sam and Bucky interact with each other is always a blast to see. And on top of being funny, there are these well-handled moments of drama shared between both characters that make their relationship convincing. It's why you can't have this series without Bucky, despite it so clearly being Sam's story that gets the more focus. Because without either character, we would miss out on some entertaining interactions that I wouldn't trade for anything else for this series.
Isaiah Bradely: Well, this character was a pleasant surprise. Although, "pleasant" might not be the right word because every scene with Isaiah is absolutely gut-wrenching in all the right ways. Carl Lumbly gives a phenomenal performance for a character that has been beaten down, with very little hope he has for any change that matters for his race. Plus, his backstory may not be as unbelievable as you might think. Between 1932-1972, America performed what is known as the Tuskegee Experiment. Scientists tested the effects of syphilis by injecting it into African Americans, telling them that they were receiving free health care when they didn't. So the idea that scientists tested super-soldier serums on African Americans, not knowing the dangerous effects, is not that far of a stretch. Neither is the knowledge that a black man was disrespected despite fighting hard for his country. If you researched African American history, you'll find that this type of horse s**t happens way more times than it should. It is heartbreaking, and Isaiah Bradley represents all of it. Thus making the little Isaiah exhibit in the Captain America museum all the more tear jerking just because of how sweet it is to see him get some semblance of a win. This level of discussion of what it means to be an African American is something I never expected with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but I greatly appreciate it nonetheless. What's even better is that these discussions don't end with Isaiah.
The discussions of racism: Again, this was something I didn't expect, but grateful for it nonetheless. I mean, I should have expected it given that one of the co-stars is black, but given how the story was about Sam being the new Captain America, I didn't think discussion of racism and racial injustice would come into play. Turns out that I was naive to think those things are separate. The burden of being a black Captain America is something that not many white people, including myself, consider a big deal. But looking at America's past and how others react to any African American in power, you realize that, yes, it is a big deal. Isaiah, and several real-life POCs in history, prove that America doesn't respond well to a person of color being better than the average white man. So it is easily reasonable to believe that there would be issues with a black man becoming a symbol of what America should be. Hell, I'm willing to bet that there were issues when this happened in the comics way back when. Not because of some bulls**t about how it doesn't fit with the character or story, but solely because they can't handle a black Captain America. And if you don't believe something like this wouldn't happen to someone like Sam Wilson, look back to that scene with the police who didn't know he was the Falcon. This crap happens every day, and it's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier that shines a light on it. Despite being something I didn't expect, the talks of racism are very much appreciated. And I'm as pale white as an introverted vampire. I can't even begin to comprehend how the African American community must feel about all of this.
Zemo: Who the f**k expected this guy to be one of the best things in the series?!
Seriously, from Captain America: Civil War, I wasn't too into Zemo as a character. I loved the idea that this powerless guy tore apart the world's greatest superheroes through intelligence and coercion. But his needlessly complicated plan and stale personality weren't enough to win me over. So when he returned, I expected to dread every minute of it. Little did I know that Zemo's comeback would skyrocket him into top-tier MCU villain territory!
Zemo is a character that, despite "helping" our heroes, still works on his own agenda. He might put them on the right path and occasionally assist in a fight, but only because he still won't stop at anything to make sure fewer super powered individuals are in the world. Because that's the thing about Zemo: His motivation was fine and understandable to a point, but his personality was flawed in Civil War. Here, I finally see how Zemo can work. Despite having no power, he uses his mind to look for any angle to control the situation, gaining an advantage even if it is for a short time. For instance, while he can't harm Sam or Bucky without risking his own life or jeopardizing his temporary freedom, he can still annoy the hell out of them. Like when he forced Sam into a situation where he had to drink literal snake juice. It's actually a ton of fun to watch, and I'm honestly glad that Zemo gets to live to see tomorrow. It means that he might make another return, and I can't wait to see what's in store for him in the future. Which is something I didn't think I'd say five years ago.
The Dora Milaje: It was actually pretty cool seeing these characters make an appearance, notably when they slapped around John Walker like it was nothing. Although, a part of me wonders that if Chadwick Boseman hadn't died last year, we would get to see T'Challa himself make an appearance. This lines up with the character, as I can see him dropping everything to hunt down the man who killed his father. Which would be just as awesome, if not slightly more so, to see. Still, we work with what life gives us. And what it gave are awesome cameos that make the MCU feel more inclusive about its characters rather than limiting them to their specific sections in the universe.
Walker killing the Flag Smasher: There is something so wrong with seeing that shield stained with blood. 'Cause here's the thing: Captain American can kill. He's a soldier. It's expected for a soldier to take lives for the sake of justice. What John Walker did isn't justice. It was vengeance. Vengeance that is fueled by anger rather than the need to do the right thing. Because when Captain America leads an army to kill the man who whipped out half the universe, that's fighting for a just cause. But when “Captain America” kills a man, the wrong man, for killing his best friend, that is an act of selfishness that no one would see your side on. And it was the final nail in the coffin that proves how John Walker does not deserve that shield.
Sam and Bucky vs. John: This might just be the best fight in the entire series. Not only is it so satisfying to see John Walker get everything that he deserves, but the whole thing was pretty intense to watch. After seeing what John can do with that shield, it makes moments when Sam and Bucky barely dodge his attacks with it all the more blood-rushing to see. Plus, Civil War's motif playing the background is another solid callback that fits well narratively since this is technically two superheroes fighting another superhero. It's an incredible scene that was worth the wait of four hour-long episodes to see.
Setting up Joaquín Torres as the new Falcon: I don't know if Marvel will follow through with this or even if they should. That being said, if they do, I'm all for it. Joaquín already seems like a pretty fun character, and his interactions with Sam show there's enough chemistry there to give Captain America a new wingman. I probably won't lose sleep if he doesn't become the new Falcon, but I'll still be excited regardless.
Madame Hydra: I know that she has an actual name, but I refuse to remember it due to how long and convoluted it is.
Anywho, we get a small glimpse of who Madame Hydra is as a character, but already I'm intrigued. She seems to have a fun personality, added by Julia Louis-Dreyfus' dry energy. Whether this is set up for the next big bad or just introducing a fun character, I'm interested. Madame Hydra was already a blast in the short amount of time she was in the show, and I can't wait to see what future installments have in store for her.
“Louisiana Hero”: Or as I like to call it, "Sam's Hero Theme." Because while this is the track that plays for the intro, it still shows up when Sam is training as the new Captain America. Not only is it insanely catchy, but I love that you hear a hint of the theme of Captain America: The First Avenger, yet "Louisiana Hero" is still very much its own thing. And that's another reason why I consider it Sam's motif because it fits precisely with the character. Sam is a person who has a hint of the good man that Steve was but still does his own thing when wearing the stars and stripes. Not a copy, but still heavily influenced by the original. So kudos to Henry Jackman for creating a musical piece that fits so well with a character far better than any other themes or motifs prevalent in the MCU. Because, let's be honest, there aren't that many.
Sam’s new suit: ...I mean, it looks cool. Kinda corny at times, sure, but points for comic accuracy.
Sam Carrying Karli: I mean, look at it.
Tumblr media
This looks like something that should be painted and hung up on a wall due to how beautiful it looks.
Sam’s Speech: Two meaningful things are going on with this speech.
First, it proves once and for all that Sam Wilson is Captain America. He doesn't just fight for his country. He also believes the government that runs it should take accountability for any missteps before dealing with something worse than a person who took the term "rebellious teenager" into an extreme.
Second, it is so satisfying seeing Captain America tell government officials off about unjust treatment. Even if it does diddly-squat about anything in the real world, it's still a big moment that's effective because of the bulls**t that happens every day. It's far from an actual win, but it still feels good (I hope). And that still counts for something, right?
“We’ll need a U.S. Agent”: Credit to Louis-Dreyfus for saying a stupid cornball of a name and making it sound...not that.
WHAT I DISLIKE
Still running that Marvel Studios logo in every episode: It's still a nitpick, but its still annoying. It's alright if you want to use the full fanfare for the first episode, but at least shorten it for the rest of the season. Please? For the love of all that is holy?
The CGI: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has some pretty...not great CGI. It's not as awful as the CG in the DC shows on the CW, but it is way too easy to tell what looks real and what doesn't. Failing to make CGI convincing has been a problem in the MCU for a while, as most of the time, characters barely look like they really exist in the scene. To me, I compare it to when Red vs. Blue switches between actual animation and Machinima. The CG models stick out like a sore thumb to the in-game models, but at least it looks cool. Because while I don't believe that I'm seeing an actual man with bird wings flying through a canyon while chasing helicopters...it still looks cool. Still, not many people would be as forgiving as I am to this type of thing, so it's onto the dislikes it goes.
The direction of the action: Now I want to clarify that I have no problems with the action itself. Some fight scenes are pretty cool while also added with some exciting set-pieces that kept me engaged the whole way through. It's just the direction of the action that I have issues with. The camera is always shaky with so many cuts that it's hard to follow half the time. It's an understandable technique to hide the stunt double's faces or to make it look like it really is the actual actor who's doing the fighting. The issue is that once you know a show like Daredevil exists, with its plethora of well-directed action, the cracks in the armor become much more noticeable for a series like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Karli Morgenthau: Karli...frustrates me. Because on the one hand, Erin Kellyman does an impeccable job at portraying the heartbreak, frustrations, and determination that Karli has when fighting for her cause. On the other hand, Karli's cause is so layered with hypocrisy that it's hard to understand her position. She wants to prove how the world was better during the Blip, saying that everyone was happier then. So why do things like blow people up and kill “Captain America?” I get the latter. The guy's a d**k. But to prove to people how better things were, is death and destruction really the best choice to get that point across? I get the mentality of how people respond better to a harmful fist rather than a tranquil hand, but really, has that mentality ever worked out either?
However, you could argue that her hypocrisy is fueled by the super-soldier serum, with the "good becomes great and bad becomes worse" theory that John all but confirms. Although, unlike John, we never got to see Karli pre-serum, so we don't know how much it really had affected her. With John, it's easy as many scenes indicate how close he was to snapping and murdering someone who disrespects him. We don't get that for Karli and are left to assume she was already crazy about thinking how intense violence can show the world how great things were during the Blip.
Then again, that could be the plan. Show how a person with the best intentions is ultimately wrong, given the lengths they go through to accomplish them. It worked for Thanos, so it should work here. And it would have...if not for Sam saying that Karli has a point. Because for the main hero to say that the villain is correct, you have to show them doing more good than bad. I understand the mentality Karli, and the Flag Smashers, have. But by doing nothing but committing crimes and violence, any point they have is discredited. Take note of the fact that nobody but nutcases on the internet says that Thanos has a point. Because he doesn't. He's a maniacal supervillain who does something so intense that nobody should be on his side. It's similar with Karli, but because we're apparently supposed to agree with her, she doesn't work as well.
...DO YOU SEE WHY SHE'S FRUSTRATING?! Because while I can see how she can be an incredible character, there are so many holes in how she works that I fail to appreciate any of it. And seeing how she's the main antagonist, a character who takes up a good chunk of the screen time, it's not a good thing that she tends to flounder more times than she should. I want to like Karli, but given everything that's wrong with her, I just can't.
Rewriting Sharon as the Power Broker: This is an intriguing idea met with a mixed execution. You see, I like the idea of a character who was once an ally becoming a villain, yet the heroes have no clue about it whatsoever. It creates solid dramatic irony, but only if done well. With Sharon, it's not really done well. It genuinely feels like her character was changed radically to give her this personality. A fun personality, I'll add, but one that comes across as really jarring when looking back at her previous appearance. Don't get me wrong, a character's current personality feeling so radically different from their previous one can work a treat, but only when we see them go through point A to point B. We're told about the s**t that went down with Sharon, but unlike understanding the mentality of the Flag Smashers, her personality change would have been more effective if we saw it. So while I like the idea of Sharon becoming another big bad in the future, I would have liked it more if we saw her decline into possible villainy.
------------
By using my usual scoring system for MCU shows and movies, I'd give this season of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier a solid 8/10. There are problems. Quite a lot of problems. Hell, even the stuff I like comes with a fair share of issues. It's just a matter of asking yourself, "Do I like some parts more than I dislike them?" For me, I find myself enjoying much more than I didn't. It's not perfect by any means, but while it definitely falters at times, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is a series that soars to great heights. You might not be in love with it, but you’ll have a helluva good time regardless.
Now if you don't excuse me, it's time I swap from one superhero series to another as I share my more in-depth thoughts on--
