so i was thinking about this post that i reblogged earlier and also something that one of my mutuals brought up the other day (kanaan my beloved <3) and it got me thinking about fandom, specifically content creator based fandom and time relativity.

Content creator, especially youtuber and streamer-focused, fandom is an entirely different beast as opposed to book/movie/tv show based fandom in that I think it is one of the only types of fandom that thrives most on timeliness. one of the best/most active parts of the fandom comes immediately after the drop of content, that's when casual and dedicated fans are at their most equal.

so when the eboys stopped posting as much content, a lot of ccblr fans who had been casual fans dropped off because there isn't that time component to the fandom anymore (not bad, i did this). people weren't watching youtube content and immediately going to talk about it on tumblr.

but the dsmp fandom was an entirely separate beast because you HAD to keep up with everything immediately because SO MUCH of the fandom interaction and content happened immediately after because everything moved so quickly in terms of lore and content release.

however, outside of the entire dream situation (i don't wanna talk about it lol) the dsmp fandom was already semi-dying on tumblr in part to the fact that casual fans had sort of fallen off. dedicated fans were exhausted of all the content (based on personal experience) and that lack of interaction between the dedicated and the casual fans meant that a substantial amount of the fandom simply,,,,,,moved on.

and of course this doesn't mean that the dream smp fandom on tumblr completely died, lots of people still consume content from individual content creators. but there's no longer the desire to watch everything involving the lore as soon as it happens because there's not really anyone to talk about it ig

this is just my opinion, not hating on anyone, but if anyone has any other opinions or anything to add, feel free to reblog, reply, or make your own post and tag me!

But I think we can have more fun with this

The truth is they aren’t crows, they just appear that way for Phil, maybe because Phil and his crow wings. Or maybe he just likes them. Perhaps it’s the association crows have with death.

Really, these creatures can come in all sort of forms.

Nobody questions Jimmy as he listens to a Canary sing their lovely song in the morning. They sound very nice!

Nobody thinks twice about the vast range of animals that Tommy befriends. Animals just seem to like him.

And maybe people get concerned over Techno’s love of dangerous creatures, but he is Technoblade, and it fits his image quite well.

Not a soul thinks twice, no connections are made, and they are forever none the wiser about The Goddess of Death.
