Hello, Niko! I'm your classified cultivator! I will be sending you anonymous messages throughout the month so that we could get to know one another. I would like to start off by asking who are your top 5 favorite characters in MDZS? 🐰
Hello my dear Bunny! Imma call you bunny, since you so adorably signed with one - is that alright with you? I hope it is haha So excited to meet you!! Daaang, that’s one question to kick it off! A nice one, but also a hard one. There are many lovable characters, all of them for different reasons. I put a few in the artwork but I honestly feel bad for all the others I left out. MDZS simply has a great cast, how could I possibly decide? I didn’t even manage to just put five in my artwork xD Also my interpretations are a mad mix - I am sorry. I did quick art for this because
what about you? 💕

Hello!! Your Classified Cultivator here (I sent an ask earlier but I fear tumblr might have ate it if not you can ignore this ask) First I just want to say I hope that your day is going well <3 I guess the first question I have is how did you get into mdzs/cql and who is your favorite character and why? Also do you have anything that you would not be comfortable talking about? I'm going to sign off with 🐇 c.c from now on..I hope that is okay!! <3 - 🐇 c.c
I answered the first one (Tumblr, for once, did not banish something into the abyss), so: nothing really to avoid, but I don’t really want anything that might create controversy (like, “Least favorite character!”, that kind of thing) I didn’t reblog that salty questions post going around for that reason--I’ve already “stepped in it” enough without going out of my way to do so!
Now, regarding favorite characters...for a main, it’s hands-down Jiang Cheng. I related to him somehow. I’m nowhere near as uptight yet somehow I see him rolling his eyes and being grumpy and sarcastic and having sibling rivalry and having these high expectations for himself and I just want to scoop him up and feed him soup (I get you, Yanli) and go, “Me too, bud.” I just feel him. Plus I love the complexity of his dynamic with WWX and yes I too want to have a purple lightning whip and fabulous clothes. The actor’s performance contributed a lot. How can you watch him cry and not want to comfort him and tell him he’s enough?
My other favorite character is Xue Yang. (He’s not a main character so I get to squeeze him in here). I just enjoy murder gremlins who aren’t a buzzkill about it like Wen Zhuliu (who’s cool and intriguing but doesn’t have a manic grin). I’m a sucker for bad-people-with-tragic-backstories and villains with a sense of humor and mind games and effed up character dynamics and surprising sweetness where you wouldn’t expect it. I’m not going to dive into it here, but I jealously latched onto the freedom of his whole “I’m outside society and am therefore free of it” shtick. Yi City is my favorite arc. I love having emotions cranked up to an anime-like 11. And because he’s unapologetically a Bad Person (tm), I don’t have to try and justify or explain his actions like I do for characters I love but are still “good.” Yes, he’s a terrible person. Yes, I know that and love him anyway. No, he doesn’t deserve better. Yes, I want him to have it anyway. It’s kind of freeing.

ah hey! snowbunny again, and this time it's 6am where i live so yeah. i'd probably pick mandarin? it would make watching cdramas so much easier i think, and just in general? a year or so back i probably would've picked russian, my father had to learn russian when he was a kid and he still speaks it partly, one of my close friends family is from russia too, so i could speak it with her too. but rn? mandarin would probably the one i'd like to be fluent in.
the cql ost is currently 80% of my comfort playlist, though one of my mutuals and i (more like me and she just has to suffer through it and i enjoy making her cry) are making a wangxian playlist! it wasn't meant to be as angsty as everything turned out to be so far, but i'm not complaining. except for like one song everything is in english, the other song is in german actually and we're not sure if it categories as angst or happy. the acoustic version makes the song sound incredibly sad, the lyrics is somewhere between sad and happy, basically between "you make me happy" and "why did it have to be this way in the first place?". if you want to be specific, the song talks about the other person lifting a burden from your heart "freed it, revived it" is one of the lines, and.... it's a great song but 🤧🤧🤧 then there are these lines "[i] was stuck and didn't know what to do / and you took hammer and chisel / made an artwork* out of my cold heart" (ig to make it flow better you could say "made a masterpiece out of my cold heart" but he says "Kunstwerk" eng. artwork). idk the whole lyrics flows better in german but if you want to listen to it (i prefer the acoustic) it's Betonherz by Wincent Weiss (Cement-heart).
Today idk what to ask so: what are your favorite mutuals/the ones you interact with the most? was there anything you wanted to do this year but couldn't? a random fun fact over tea maybe? (btw i drunk tea this week and it was uhmmm mint tea? i think? and black tea but i can't say more about that tbh)
ahhh wait!!! if we include fantasy languages i'd like to speak quenya 😌😌 or sindarin, that would be okay too - ❄🐇
You did send me asks! Sorry i’m bad at responding.
mandarin is pretty handy. i will vouch for that. i listened to erha audiodrama on maoer FM today while i was cooking. it was delightful. i had to google the languages you sent in. i know nothing of lotr. but @phoenixrisesoncemore is good with lotr. does neat art. loves untamed. great tea friend. so i would probably reach out to her! :D
cql ost is a lot of what i’ve listened to this year too. i’m really digging teh “I will take you life” song from Ever Night though. It’s so perfectly chipper. I come from so and so place, i’m here to take you life. I just giggle every time i hear it. a little morbid, but alas. Also, the end theme of ever night is cute and chipper too. and the words are really nice. I also LOVE the opening theme of love and redemption. it makes me think of some 80s rock ballad or something. and the words “Even if i drank the waters of wangchuan, I will not fail to meet you again” is really romantic.
Uh... in case you don’t know what wangchuan is, it’s the river that make you forget your past life before reincarnation. so it’s a pretty intense promise IMO. I really dig that idea... maybe it’s because i read erha and wife is first back to back and now i’m all on board with the idea of “if i get a second chance i won’t fuck it up”.
oh god. the two mutuals I talk to the most are definitely @needtherapy and @merelhyn. if i go more than 24 hrs without hearing from them i feel weird. I really wanna go on a trip post pandemic to visit merelhyn and spend a day drinking tea with her. and i really want needtherapy to visit me so i can make her crawl through the bowels of the place where i got married -- it’s a weird modern art, industrial playground space filled with mosaics and concrete and ironwork sculptures. it is actually that cool. but you can’t really wear nice clothes there. i’ve ripped holes in shirts before. AND it has a circus school inside. it’s the place of litte haoppo’s dreams. I also talk to lots of other people i didn’t mention (e.g. members of mdzsnet and other friends of mine) but that’s just because i am an extrovert and i talk to people. i like talking to people. and there are SO MANY AMAZING PEOPLE on tumblr. but the two i listed are people who i swapped irl phone numbers with so they get listed as special. i’m drawing my line here or i would probably end up writing a page of people who i adore and that might get annoying :/
random fun fact over tea snowbunny says. random fun fact over tea... uh... i saw @yumingyesfairy‘s previous url and asked if “duchess of orange” was a reference to “duke of orange” which is where we get the tea grading “orange pekoe”. i was correct! and made a tea friend! :D
you are by no means obligated to know tea or even care about tea. i just love it and love sharing about it. because someone isn’t actually good at compartmentalizing.
how is your week going? <3

Ah, but what scenes in particular did you enjoy? The wangxian ones in general? Or were there any particular ones that stuck with you?
-the axe cultivator
Oh, ac, I missed some of your question last time didn't I? So sorry. My head is kinda in the clouds these days
There are so many scenes that stuck with me, so I'll make a bullet list and probably still miss some ^^
It's such a small thing but in ep 1 the transition from the tale of how wei wuxian was killed transitions to the tea house via a shit from within sizhui's trea cup as he's pouring tea "onto the camera". It's nothing special but remember loving that shot so much the first time I watched that it was one of the things that kept me watching
Wangxian-wise in the first two episodes, I'd be remiss not to mention that handgrip when wei wuxian plays wangxian to calm wen ning down. Because it goes on ... and on ... and on. When I watched it for the first time I was like "ooohhhh so it's gonna be this kind of gay". You know the endless-longing-stares kind. And now when I rewatch it's just devastating. The last time they saw each other before this scene, they also held onto each others wrists but wei wuxian let go and fell to his death. And here lan zhan is, holding on for minutes and only let's go once jiang cheng threatens wei wuxian. Just ... 💔
i started shipping xiyao from their very furst sxebe together. Those two actors (i try to remeber their names but i always forget them again. My memory is shit when it comes to names :/) really just did want some of that sweet sweet homoerotic tension. Also, their first interaction stand out to me as the moment i really started to like lan xichen. In a setting that was shown early on to be highly hierarchical, he exhibited in the very forst scenes that he is willing to disregard someone's standing and look at their character and abilities instead. I just really love xichen ❤
Okay, i can't name one scene per episode, so let’s sum them up a little
I adore this progression during the cloud recesses and the yin iron arc from a flirtratious rivalry to genuine deep freindship and love. There are so many little moments that stand out because of the subtle acting joices made my wang yibo and xiao zhan, as well as the script, The lantern scene, when Wei Wuxian doesn’t betray the yin iron secret to huaisang and lan wangji goes “hu, so your bullshitting has reasons”, when they are in the market and lan zhan actually communicates that he doesn’t like crowds and wei wuxian pulls him closer but not into the crowd and so many others. When you watch closely, you see them realising little details about each other and I’m honestly so impressed with how amazingly the process of their falling in love was portrayed
fast forward a bit: obviously, the freaking montage quasi-fan vid in the middle of the cave scene set to their freaking love song. I remeber when I first watched this scene I actually, literally screamed. I could not believe it because their was no fucking way that this could be read as anything but romantic and I was not used to that much blatant queer romance!
A little less happy (okay a lot). The entire destruction of the jiang clan with a special mention to the scene when Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian just saw the bodies and run into fields where they fight and Jiang Cheng chokes Wei Wuxian and then they just fall back in exhaustion and sleep right there under the open sky. Everything about that scene was brilliantly done and also soul-crushing. The loss of innosence in that moment devastated me. It was so obvious that in the moment of deepest despair, all of these children’s traumas and deep-seated fears reared their ugly heads. So Jiang Cheng directs all his grief at the easiest target for his anger and Wei Wuxian just takes it because that is what he thinks is his job. And the real tragedy? This dynamic will not be broken until Wei Wuxian’s literal death. These children need therapy so goddamn badly and all they get is more trauma on top of their excisting trauma.
“The single log bridge” scene. I. Am. A. Sucker for the found family trope, especially for characters who cronically think they have to do everything on their own. So there Wei Wuxian is saying he will walk his dark path alone, but instead he finds lit lanterns and a humble feast prepared for him by people who love him. That juxtaposition kils. me. every. time. YOU ARE LOVED WEI WUXIAN! FOR YOURSELF!
(Shout out to the second time his word are refuted, this time by lan wangji and *gasp* verbally. Because there is NO better love declaration than that scene in front of basically every leader of cultivation world who politely wait for their turn to attack them)
Luo Qingyang removing herself from the narrative. I literally cry every time.
Talking about women: jiang yanli defending wei wuxian and calling him her brother. That moment is the "three things all wise men fear" quite incarnat, only it's the anger of a gentle woman
“Let me go” So ... I have SUCH a thing for couple who grapple with questions of when it is time to let go and when it is time to hold on. So Wangxian hits all my buttons. I will go further into this in my last bullet point (about the very last scene)
Oh god, this list is gonna get so long and i’m still going to forget things
In the present timeline:
Again, to sum it up, all the gentle wangxian moment where they look at each other and their entire face grows soft. Every almost-smile lan wangji sends wei wuxian, every "oh. He really loves me huh?"-look from wei wuxian. Especially in the Jingshi just after lan Xichen's loredrop. These two intensly guarded people (yes, wei wuxian is guarded,he just hides behind smiles) are so open with each other. I only have to see a guf of lan wangji with his heir down and I go feral!
Talking about that episode, the lan family backstory as a scene does things to me. And I remember watching that the first time and so much of lan wangji's behaviour suddenly making sense. Especially little lan zhan kneeling in front of his mother’s house and that being how he showed his grief really drove home just how this man exhibits emotion. I'm pretty sure that that was the moment he really became my favourite character.
Same episode and a start juxtaposition to the domestic scene between wangxian before: the talk between lan xichen and Jin Guangyao just afterwards. You could probably write an essay of meta about the parallels and differences between those two scenes and I think that's deliberate because they're back to back. The lan brother's share tea with the person closest to their hearts. One is finally able to open himself fully, the other closes up more than he ever has before with this person. The framing in that scene alone drives that message home, never mind its content. It's heart-wrenching and so well done!
Talking about xiyao: jin guangyao's death for similar reasons. Just ... arrrgh
I'm sure I've missed a ton but thus is already so long so I'll close with my favourite overall: the last scene. The parting and subsequent reunion on the mountaintop. I've stated before why this means so much to me. It is such a reassuring message to me: to have two intensely different people learn to understand and love each other exactly as they are. Being who they are, the occasionally walk different paths. But they don't limit each other. They learn to improve each other by just being there when they are and therefore know and trust that their love will return.
This was mostly cql because you asked for "scenes", but have some honorary novel mentions:
Lan Wangji: "The face says nothing. Listen to the heart-beat." 😭😭😭
The moment when wei wuxian collapses after the second siege and lan sizhui expresses surprise over this, lan wangji says something like "We are all human." I love that moment for many reasons. 1) it's one of the rare direct insights into lan wangji's thoughts. No matter how brief he is here, you don't say something like that just because. 2) and it's significant that he is the one saying it because he, too, is placed on a pedestal. In fact, I think a lot about mdzs boils down to the conflict between the inner self and outer perception and how that dichotomy can be both a deliberate shield (lan zhan being the perfect example) and a curse
I hope you and your axe are having a wonderful day 🥰

Ahh WWX being happy just gives me lots of feels! Speaking of feels, I personally haven't read the novel except for bits and pieces but I recently learned that WWX's death there was different to what was presented in the series and I don't know which one breaks me more! Like, is it him throwing himself off the cliff in front of LWJ or is it him being ripped apart by the resentful energy he HAD to utilize because he couldn't use a different cultivation method anymore?? -✨
Overall, the "control" theme that plays a huge part in demonic cultivation is what really gets me. This is personal now, but to me there are few things scarier than losing control. Plus, I recently found a very dark, angsty fic about LWJ bringing WWX back to the Burial Mounds where WWX is incredibly far gone already and basically insane, and just the thought of it really messed with me. What do you think of this? Which version of his death is more interesting for you, which one sadder? -✨
Wei Wuxian’s happiness makes me happy 😊 The boy has been through enough, he deserves to live in happy AU’s where his biggest concern is his feelings over Lan Wangji.
I started the office!AU you recommended CC, and oh my gosh. It’s so good! I’m absolutely loving it so far. Thanks again for recommending it, I can’t wait to see how it’ll end 💖 You got me invested in another fic, ha!
Oof, that is a question. I actually had to have a think about my response for a little bit, because although I have my preferences over which I prefer, I haven’t actually thought too much into why that is.
You’re absolutely right on the theme of control. In both versions of MDZS control is present - and it’s all about the unpredictability of a cultivation method that is so feared and misunderstood / unknown to the larger majority of the cultivation world. Wei Wuxian is constantly saying he can control it, but can he really? Even he doesn’t really understand the extent of what he’s utilising.
I personally prefer the drama version of Wei Wuxian’s death. It’s the first one I was made aware of and until I learnt differently, I just assumed the novel followed the same pattern. My first instinct when I read what happened to him in the novel was to recoil and go ‘don’t like that’ to him being torn apart. I’m still not fond on it, but I get it in terms of the story.
I like the drama version more though because, even though Wei Wuxian’s death is really a suicide in it, his control over his fate was never taken from him. He honestly believed at that point in the story that he had nothing left to live for - his sister had just died for him, he’d lost the Wens, lost A Yuan. The cultivation world hated him to the point they were ready to murder him ... as far as Wei Wuxian was concerned, he wasn’t leaving Nightless City alive anyway. It was just a matter of how he was going to die.
Yet although he’d lost everything, although he believed everyone hated him, although he knew he was going to likely die - he took that decision of how he was going to die into his own hands. His last act is his own: one which he has complete control over. He is exhausted and heartbroken, and no longer sees a place for himself in the world anymore. He thinks he brought more harm to those he loved than ever bringing any good, so Wei Wuxian decides no more.
He decides to let go.
I even believe Lan Wangji understands that it is Wei Wuxian’s choice to die at this point. Although Wei Wuxian shakes free of the grasp he has on him and despite his own injury, Lan Wangji could have reached to grab him again. He doesn’t attempt a second time though, and it’s because - even though the act truly shatters his own heart - Lan Wangji loves Wei Wuxian so much that he even respects the choice he makes.
I also just really love how the drama has this consistency of mirroring throughout it. Even Wei Wuxian’s death mirrors an episode that happened not long before, where they have the exchange in the rain and Wei Wuxian says things like ‘if there’s a war between me and them, then I’d rather battle to the death with you’ and ‘if I die, at least I will die by your hand. That would be fair.’ These are his choices and his decisions - he’s saying to Lan Wangji that he would welcome death by his hand which is ... oof. That’s a big thing to lay on someone!
That’s what I see from the scene, anyway. The book death is effective in it’s own right, and it’s still sad. But I just prefer the drama one because there’s so much tangled up within it and to me? It hurts more 😢 Especially when I think of this quote from The Song of Achilles which reminds me of Wei Wuxian’s choice here (and how it affects those who continued to live that did still care for him).
“It is right to seek peace for the dead. You and I both know there is no peace for those who live after.”

Hello!
I choose LXC because he is a good, kind man. He is strong, resilient, intelligent and respectful. He is everything that is right in this world, and I admire that!
I am staying safe, I hope you are too! It indeed is very hard to look for a job, but the course is giving me tips so I know I will get one eventually! Thank you for your well wishes ❤
I hope you will enjoy your break! I don't doubt it's deserved!
Personally, I loved Handsome Siblings! I watched it so I could hopefully learn some Chinese from it, and I didn't expect to become invested. I absolutely loved it and I binged the entire thing! I love the twins so much ;-; The love in the bond they share just makes me feel things hahahah
It's been an ok week so far! Fixed my sleeping pattern (that I will eventually mess up again) so I'm more productive! I hope you'll have a great week!
My question for today is: if you could recommend one show/movie in Chinese to me, which one would it be?
- Sincerely, your Classified Cultivator
hello! (≧∇≦)/ oh that’s nice! hopefully that course will have some good tips that will come in handy~ it sounds really intense tho (@_@;) I don’t remember going for any courses back in the day (ok this sounds ages ago but it was like... 2 years ago???) when I was still studying and/ or looking for a job... more like I was too lazy _(:3」∠)_
oh man maybe one day I would check it out! my watch queue is insanely long right now and I take really long for chinese and korean shows especially since they typically have a lot of episodes and very long episodes respectively ヘ(_ _ヘ) I usually finish uk/us shows and japanese anime much faster (ノ・o・)ノ since they have fewer episodes... aha
oh noooo please don’t mess up your sleeping pattern again (>△<Uu my brother’s is absolutely terrible (he goes to bed around 4 or 5am and only gets up at... noon??) and it seems really bad for health in general... I used to only sleep at 2am (remnants of my addiction to a mobile game sigh but that’s another story there) and get up around 9 or 10, but for the past couple of months I’ve been trying to change that and exercise more often (sometimes in the early morning if needed alksdlksdf) and my sleeping pattern feels much better now! ^^ and yes, totally understand on that more productive thing! it feels like right now I can get more things done in the morning, at least. hope it will last for you~ (b^_^)b
ahhhh only one show/ movie?!?!?! (゚Д゚;) hmmmmmMMMM......
eh well one of my all time favourite cdramas is my roommate is a detective, which is kinda like sherlock holmes. it’s set in the chinese republican era , and is centred around an ex-mafia-turned-police-inspector (acted by my tumblr url namesake) and a smartass-genius-rich-boy-eking-it-out-on-his-own and the crimes they solve together in 1920s shanghai. but since that’s pretty obvious from my tumblr in general, I’m gonna recommend another movie that I don’t think a lot of people here may be aware of but is still really good!
it’s this...
Tumblr media
red cliff! it’s actually a super long show and got split into two separate movies, released in 2008 and 2009. I was like... 12 around then??? but I remember watching both parts in the cinema and going like...... wow
it’s a historical war epic, definitely not in the xianxia or wuxia genres that a lot of popular cdramas are in right now. and this is the one I would recommend because it’s based on an actual historical battle in ancient china AND is also one of the most famous arcs in one of the four Chinese Classical Novels (capitalising these here because this is a legit term ahahaa), the romance of the three kingdoms.
it’s somewhat like a david vs. goliath situation, and besides the super epic fight scenes, there are also a lot of clever strategies being thrown around and used, mostly by that guy from the second right up there called zhuge liang (or kong ming).
and some videos!
trailer in chinese:
youtube
and another trailer in english (UGH at that voiceover):
youtube
each part also has its own theme song! they’re both sung by the same singer (a lan) and they’re both equally pretty and haunting. my brother and I couldn’t get the second one in particular out of our head for a reaaaally long time because they kept repeating that melody (that appears at 1:33 in the mv) throughout part 2 lolol
theme song for part 1, called 心战 “heart war”
youtube
theme song for part 2, called 大江东去 “the mighty river* flows east”
*referring to the yangtze river, at one point of which the actual historical battle was fought
youtube
and yes! super long reply omg (*ノдノ) I think I just convinced myself to watch the movies again... aHAHA

Mutual pining fics are soo good for wangxian because of all the meaningful stares and touches and gestures in cql 😪
Oh, I love BuzzFeed Unsolved!!! Even though I'm a scaredy cat and horror and true crime freak me out. Have you checked out Watcher, Ryan and Shane's new channel? They get up to more shenanigans there! They have this series called Puppet History which I LOVEEEE. If you watched Buzzfeed's Ruining History with Shane, this is like that but with more tomfoolery 😂
I once read a BuzzFeed Unsolved x The Untamed fic... Here it is, in case you're interested. It's a short one-shot but it was fun! https://archiveofourown(.)org/works/27241906
What are other fandoms (if any) that you like crossed over with The Untamed? like AUs or characters meeting or any type of crossovers!
Do you write fanfic? Is there any fandom activity that you wish you could do? Like art or music covers or fic, etc? I wish I could find the motivation these days to make piano covers of the Untamed soundtrack music!
- 🎵🦄
i definitely did not see anything and i definitely did not call it 🙈
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
very true~
omg same lol. i don’t do horror and true crime’s even worse in some ways... but i watch bun for the ~humor~ i am subscribed to watcher but i haven’t seen all of their videos... i’ve been enjoying the too many spirits series!! i haven’t seen much puppet history but i’ve gotta change that 😪
ah thanks, that was fun! i appreciate how they included wen ning’s canonical inability to not cause a ruckus lmao. & i’m always open to recommendations :)
hmm, idk bc i haven’t delved into that side of the fandom much yet... i will say i’ve got some ideas for crack vids/incorrect quotes that i’m excited about, lol. and i still stand by my earlier post about rly wanting a xuexiao good place au :// & i think it’s pretty fun when ppl make fanart and fics featuring tgcf characters, bc i love all of them~ i also rly wish there was a xue yang sour candy (blackpink & lady gaga) fmv, ha.
i used to write fics for a different fandom and then when i had to reread them to edit or write the next chapter i would cringe so much ahjdka. i used to fancy myself a good writer but that’s probably not true. & i don’t rly get the urge to write these days? even when i get an idea occasionally (*cough*xuexiao good place au*cough*), i’m just like ‘... can someone else do it? 😩’ lmao. i never planned my fics out or anything, i’d just get an idea, write it, and then edit it without rly adding or cutting out much. i always sucked at deleting my writing or rewriting something once it’d already been written~ ppl who write these incredible novel-length and quality fics that require so much thought and preparation... ugh, i’m just in awe of them!!
honestly it’d be cool to do anything, lol... write fics, sing, draw, play an instrument, make gfx, make rly smart thought-provoking posts, rly funny posts, know another language and be able to translate... but i guess we can’t all do everything (unless ur fricking,,, wang yibo or ten). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i’m just happy i’m finally making good gifs, that’s probably... my biggest achievement of the year ahjdks. (though i still struggle with the coloring every time 😩) i’m also currently working on a dumb fanvid and just teaching myself as i go, so if that turns out it’ll be cool to have that format to work with too~ & i’d like to learn how to make nice gif gfx but i just have no idea where to start rn...
ah that’d be so cool! the ost’s soooo nice ugh. wuji instrumental and yeben are god-tier (and during my rewatch i’ve noticed yeben’s used in like all the most emotionally devastating scenes lmao truuu)~
do you write fics? have you gotten into mxtx’s other works at all?

Hey Pooja, OMG holidays as an excuse to eat good things! YES! I am definitely 100% for that! Hm... i think my fire tiger clue might've been too much of a giveaway. oh, well. I guess my last clue should hopefully seal it for you: i've DMed you before this! :) That said, how did you spend your new year's eve? i'm just on tumblr and taking naps and reading webnovels. we're getting takeout bbq tonight and maybe gonna watch wonder woman 1984. looking forward to more interactions with you! <3 🔥🐯
Ah yesss I ate so much last night!! We got Italian food from the place that we went to in person last New Year's Eve. Good food, but I ended up so sleepy that I couldn't even stay awake till midnight... I did something similar to what you did for new year's eve: ordered in food, watched TV, tumblred, read fic...
Here's my guess for who you are. I do hope I'm right, or else this would get really embarrassing for me, oops! That being said, yes I'd love to continue interacting with you!! I've had a lot of fun this month. Your questions really made me think! and if my guess is right, I really look up to you and I have no doubt that we will continue to talk, both on Tumblr and discord! So here's my guess: You've considered changing your URL to reflect your love of tea. You have DMed me about Gaiman. We've had a long conversation about numbers in cql. If I'm right, I started suspecting after your hint about you knowing mandarin + participating in mdzsnet events + reblogging my posts.
If I'm wrong please wait while I find the nearest island to go isolate myself in embarrassment. I'll bequeath my half braincell to Pat @aheartfullofjolllly for her to distribute as she wishes.
Am I right? 🤞

Hello! If you join any sect (not limited to the main five) which one would it be? ~cc
OOOOO that’s a good one! Ummm so this is kinda way out there but probably the sect that was (totally, 100%canon) created by Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen. Firstly because I love both of those boys with all my entire soul, and secondly because I like the idea of a sect that takes anyone and has no bloodline involved and there is no hierarchy.
If I had to choose a main five it would be the Lan Clan, because although I’ve always had a wee bit of trouble with rules, its the sect that I had the most affinity with, not because of the characters, but because of #1: its placement in those beautiful mountains and #2: because I love music and I’ve always wanted to learn to play the guqin. (Also they r just cool)
What about you? Which sect would you be in?

Hello It's your 🦉 friend! This is going to be a 2 part ask because as usual, I like to babble a lot (I hope you don't mind! 😅) I agree with you 100% about Jingyi ohh my god that boy had me crackling every single time he spoke!😂 Also WWX as MXY was the thing that got me hooked to MDZS in the first place! 😂 I stayed on board because of his shamelessness and then I never left! 😂 As for having a favorite part in the novel..gosh so many scenes comes to mind! MDZS has such a vast universe that(1)
it's hard to pick one moment and call it my favourite.I loved the Xue Yang storyline a lot. I loved the part when where Wen Ning told Jiang about his core and left him shook! I loved every single one of the soft WangXian moments throughout the story. What LWJ went through after WWX died broke my heart and killed me. So, yeah I have too many favourite parts 😂 now as for your ask, talk about LWJ to me. What do you like about him? What do you dislike? (Just tell me anything I'll take it! 😂)—🦉(2)
Hellooo! Of course I don’t mind long asks. Type away! I enjoy them so much! 😂  HAHAHAHA mxtx was smart to write wwx as mxy at the very beginning because you really would want to read more of his antics.
Omggg the whole golden core revelation. Even I was left shookt despite already knowing what happened hahaha. Ngl, Yi City Arc was the hardest for me to get through (and the longest to read hahaha) because I was just so sad. the. whole. time. (but it gave us so many hilarious juniors moments hahahaha). LISTEN. Guanyin temple. When lxc was telling wwx everything and wwx was like I GOTTA GO (and jgy was all, YOU’RE HELD CAPTIVE WTF DUDE). I am here for it. Hahahahahaha.
So on to your question.
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways… HAHAHA. Where do I even begin?
“Mark your words”, ‘nuff said.
DRUNKJI. I was living for all the drunkji scenes, I could cry.
Sad drunkji moment with the wen sect brand :( I’m not okay.
The ways he grieved wwx.
How it only took him 0.0000005 seconds to accept that he is now A-Yuan’s other father because A-Yuan is, for all intents and purposes, wwx’s son.
His loyalty
His utter devotion to wwx
All the times he stood up for wwx. That one in Jinlintai when jgs was sowing lies to malign wwx and at the steps post-time skip when he would not allow wwx to just take all the blame for himself. That whole single-plank bridge love confession in the middle of everyone else pointing their swords at him and wwx. Iconic.
His fighting skills. Nothing sexier than an angry lwj in battle.
His relationship with lxc
The hc of lwj and mian mian as bffs
The fact that he didn’t become like his father despite the potential to be
How attuned he is to the people he care about
Hanguang-jun and his little ducklings
GO TO HORNY JAIL LWJ - y’all know what I’m talking about hahahaha
Tumblr media
How he is so icy to everyone else except to a chosen few
The fact that he kept the rabbits t_t lwj in a field of rabbits all day everyday please.
SUNSHOT CAMPAIGN LWJ (the hair, the robes, the eyebrows)
Tumblr media
The idea of lwj teaching lsz Inquiry
Baby lwj with his mother and lxc
When he and jc got along for 3 months and then years later would have the funniest and tensest moment in the history of television. LMFAO.
“You are not qualified to speak to me.”
Tumblr media
Yes, I used my own gif lmfao. Anyway, I think that’s long enough. I typed this at 2:30 in the morning so coherence has gone out the window. I hope you enjoyed this little mess of my love for lan wangji hahahaha.
Hey 🦉, who is your favourite mdzs character and what do you love most about them? 💕

oooh, i wanted to say the lan sect because i like their ordered cultivation, tranquility, and aesthetics (also mountains!) but the rigid rules would probably do my head in hahaha. so i think it’ll be the jiang sect because they’re more carefree with strong cultivation & bonus brilliant archery skills hahaha. also lotus pier is so pretty. hahaha. i have a two part question for you todaaay! how did you get into mdzs & has it influenced your real life in any way? (if yes, how?) - cc. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Ok TOTALLY SAME! I wouldn’t be able to handle the rules of the Lan clan and the Nie clan is also probably too intense for me (as i am not nhs and slacking off isn’t accepted then) so yeah either the jiangs bc yeah LOTUS PIER!!! also i just really love eating lotus root so it just works... But I would also totally dig an all ladies sect... Any sect leader is ok Madam Yu, Yanli, Wen Qing, Mianmian, I’ll take it just give me GIRLS!!!
Well I first heard of The Untamed through my friend who watches A LOT of c- and k-drama and I wasn’t really interested but then I kept seeing gifs and I was bored so I gave it a chance. Like most people at first I hated it gjkfdgjdf but for Jiang Cheng I gave it a chance and wew look at me now...
It has changed my life! It gave me something to talk about with the girl I liked hehe because she was watching the donghua and i recommended the live action and then kept sending her posts and memes abt it (it worked hehe).
This might sound funny but it also helped me with school a lot! I’m studying Chinese at uni and last year because I still had to catch up with a lot of courses I didn’t pass in previous years but I passed all my Chinese classes I didn’t have any Chinese classes last year. I was looking desperately for a fun way to not lose my skills and then the wonderful Bri said fansubbing would be a good way to keep it up and she was right! I’ve improved so much thanks to fansubbing, so thank you Bri and thank you Untamed cast. (I’m even subtitling an episode to dutch for my master’s thesis this year)
What about you? :D

Hi Aamna,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I think today’s ask will be smaller-well I hope as I do tend to ramble on-I had so much fun talking to you and getting to know you through these asks. I was going to do this last final ask anonymously but as we are require to reveal ourselves, so why not just take the plunge and ta-da myself to you. Lol However, I feel that by this time you already know who I am because I honestly found it so hilarious when my Secret Santa was reveal and it turn out that it was you all along, I found it quite funny that the same two people were paired for two different fest specially as both fandoms are quite big.
I do apologize, I should have ask you before hand if you did celebrate Christmas before presuming. I hope I didn’t made you feel uncomfortable in any way.
When you finally watch it, do let us know what you thought?
For me the moment that WWX had the realization of ‘oh’ and ‘I love this man’ moment is when he was hanging over the mountain ledge and LWJ was holding on to him, and maybe just maybe that’s the reason he let go of LWJ hand when he realized that LWJ would fall with him if he didn’t let go specially with how determined JC was about killing him. As for LWJ moment I think it was the moment of the lantern festival the moment he looked over at WWX and saw not the annoying disciple nor WWX but WY (if that makes sense) However, no matter when they fell in love, I have to give credit where credit is due because the man waited thirteen years for his belove to come back and even raising a child that WWX love very much as his own. If that’s not love, I don’t know what the hell it is.
I think this is the first time the ask is smaller than the previous ones, I am shock at myself. Lol
This concludes the asks from your C.C and with this reveal now I can do what I been wanting to do since day one and that’s to follow you and openly being able to reblog your art because it’s been killing me not being able to do it and seeing something I want to reblog and not being able to do much until someone else reblog it first. Lol
Your C.C Blue 🌸 (aka bererjs/cuppyhands)
Omg Bere it's youuuu. HAPPY NEW YEAR BB! fjfjfj this is so funny to me because were sending anon asks to each other through two different fests and none of us figured it out haha XD I love it.
No no it's okay, it's all good, I dont mind :) ofcourse! I'm really excited to watch it.
Ah ah the cliff scene 😔 it would truly be a tragedy if wwx realised he loved him then and in the very next moment he has to let go of his hand 😫 I agree with the lwj one he definitely realised he was in love with wwx then because he found out about his morals and his sense of righteousness and it was like damnnnn not only is he annoyingly hot and a charmer he's got the same sense of justice as me too?? Whelp there goes my heart djfjfj
But yeah he waited 13 years for that but also it wasnt even just waiting because he didn't even know if wwx would come back but he raised ayuan out of love for wei ying and just loved him as his own because he was their son and just ahfgh I love them.
I'm glad you were my cc. I had a really good time talking to you and getting to know you,, you always ask such wonderful questions 💛💛💛 have a wonderful year bb!!

okay so.... i will just hope that the other ask from this morning went in and you just weren't online? or you slept? worked? idk if it didn't went in, please let me know! anyways, i heard you like tea? i have to admit i don't know much about tea, my dad used to make me tea when i was sick tho. also, whenever i was at someone else's place and they had tea i would drink the tea but normally i'm not much of a tea fan? what's your favorite tea and why do you like tea? - your cc ❄🐇
Hey snowbunny!
Sorry about that. I’m online a lot but i’m often not actively writing more than a sentence at a time unless something gets me in a screaming mood. I have some salty asks i’ve yet to answer.
i’m likely around between 7-10pm central USA time. but not even every day. i do work form about 8 am - 4/5 pm central time. sometimes until 7. i tend to cook or get food between 5 and 8 and eat with my husband. so fandom time is a bit up in the air and i still owe fics and gif sets to people i’m working on... >.< i’m so slow! Also, any time after 10 is me being stupid and staying up past my bedtime. ^_^; which actually happens a lot. and if i do it too much by brain goes poof.
so don’t panic unless you don’t see any sort of answer for 36 hrs. i reserve the right to post something like “i got your ask but no time to actually answer” and then answer outside of the 48 hrs. but i will try to communicate! i really appreciate the follow-up because i’ve heard tumblr eats asks!
oh boy. you’re asking me to talk about tea. hahaha. snowbunny has dug themselves a rabbithole. how appropriate for this fandom.
Ok. let’s start with my favorite tea: i don’t have any. it’s not a cop-out answer. my mood changes ALL the time and while i tend to go for floral and green things sometimes i want a earthy minerally tea. I love all sorts of teas and when i explain tea a bit more you’ll see why i can’t pick a favorite. ^_^
So why do i like tea? There’s so much to learn! Sit back for a Tea 101.
Tea, PROPER TEA (with pinky up and a snooty stuffy voice), comes from the Camellia sinensis (which i have to google the spelling of every time). White, Green, Oolong, Black, and the lesser known Yellow and Dark teas ALL come from Camellia sinensis. This includes assam, ceylon, darjeeling, matcha, dahongpao, tieguanyin, lapsang suchong, and even *GASP* lipton (i think.... though i loathe to include it). The difference in flavors of these styles is due to  tea plant genetics, environment, and processing. (Flavored teas are made by incubation with something that caries a smell like food grade essential oils, flowers, fruit, or even smoke and then blended and balanced but that’s a TOTALLY different topic and something i’m slightly less fascinated by.)
Tea plant genetics: while all tea comes from (supposedly -- there’s some interesting conversations about yunnan and taiwan teas being a hybrid of camillia sinensis and local tea-like species but i haven’t really looked into it) one species, like dogs have breeds, tea plants have cultivars.  This means that if you take cuttings of one tea plant you can make clones of it! and some famous chinese teas are actually named for the cultivar. For example, Dan Congs (”single bush“) are teas named after the cultivar. Even if many Dan Congs are grown in the same area and processed similarly, the cultivar’s genetics affect the flavors of the tea.
Environment: like wine and coffee and really anything horticultural, the microenvironment tea grows in affects its properties. The amount of rain, fog, sun, shade, humidity, etc in a year or around picking season influences how the tea turns out. I have bought the same tea from the same vendor who sources from the same farmers every year and i can taste a difference. It’s amazing and fascinating. and a TON of fun. According to a tea vendor my family likes to buy from in China, some levels of Chinese tea certification requires a person to be able to taste the difference between regions and sides of mountains. Some japanese tea is grown in the shade so that the leaves would develop a more favorable flavor profile. There is a lot of stuff i don’t know about how tea plant growing influences flavor and i want to learn about it all!
And finally PROCESSING: This is where the classes of tea are differentiated: White, Green, Oolong, Black, and the lesser known Yellow and Dark. Each tea classification is processed differently. The basic steps of processing are a mix and match of drying/withering, rolling/crushing for bruising), oxidation, fixation (applying heat to denature enzymes), sweltering (yellowing), shaping with additional rolling/crushing, drying, and post process fermentation (think pu-er and aging teas in general where microbes alter flavor over YEARS). Not all teas go through every step and the difference in how the teas are handled at the different steps change how much of molecules are broken down and ultimately affects the taste and sometimes even how the tea feels in your mouth as you drink it.
So yeah. There is a LOT to learn about tea. I would like to be able to drink a tea and tell you something about the environment the year the tea was picked or about the processing or about the plant it came from. I’m not there yet. but i’m a nerd and i love smells and flavors and tea really offers me a fairly healthy way to drink my way through smells and science and culture. So i love it because it has so much to offer and i know SO LITTLE about it!
what teas have you had, snowbunny? do you know what sort of smells or flavors you like? i’ll be happy to recommend you something! <3

Oh yeah, titles are totes valid. I like yiling patriarch cos when you think about it it doesn't make sense. He didn't create the town of yiling, and he technically doesn't even live there. He sould be called burial mounds patriarch or smth.
Anyway, enough about titles (also if I have made a mistake due to translation error or misunderstanding, whoops). Which OG sect leader do you think was the worst, and which one was the best? And which next gen sect leader is best and worst?
I dislike jgs most, cos yikes. Wrh might have been a tirant and war criminal, but at least he wasn't as big of a dick as jgs. Can't really decide who the best is, cos they all had issues, you know?
Worst next gen would have to be jgy, not cos I dislike him as a person but because he definitely commited war crime and genocide. Idk best here either cos once again, *slaps top of cgl* these cultivators can fit so much trauma and issues. I do like imagining how the now sect is run. One twink mastermind and his hunk retinue? Love that for them
-the axe cultivator
Argh, 🪓-cultivator (there's an emoji! :D). I'm so sorry! I'm terribly behind again in answering you. I promise, I like your asks but I want to give them proper attention and the holidays were surprisingly busy this year.
That question is very creative! And hard ^^ I had to think about all my answers, even the seemingly easy "worst sect leader of the OG". Because while jin Guangshan is definitely a pompous ass and overall shitty person who is more concerned with sleeping with every woman in Lanling than his duties and who didn't step up during the sunshot campaign and then decided to use the power vacuum afterwards to his advantage, he at least, you know, did some sect leading. Which is not something that can be said about one Qingheng-Jun. That guy just left his brother and eventually and increasingly his teenage son in charge. Now what is worse? Bad sect leading or no sect leading at all? I don't know if I can decide ^^
Ah yeah and Wen Ruohan ... 🤷‍♀️ obviously he wasn't great, but he's also the least three-dimensional "villain" so I never really bother with him ^^
The best og sect leader? Does lan qiren as an acting sect leader count? ^^ obviously he too has issues, as you said. I believe lan qiren, as a leader, as an uncle and as an educator was deeply influenced by the things that happened with his brother. I can only imagine how deeply it must have hurt him to see his brother abandon both his people, him, his brother and his own children for the sake of one woman. Whatever your opinion on qingheng-jun, I believe we can all agree that his actions must have deeply hurt and disappointed lan qiren. We don't know what he was like before those events, so we don't know just how mich of his extreme rigidity is due to those events, but I do believe that they hardened him and made him more inflexible. Maybe he was much more of a free spirit before. Maybe he was a lot like Lan Wangji, but instead of loosening and expanding his understanding of the relationship between morality and rules, the events that shaped him let him to harden them. We don't know. But we do know that he picked up the pieces his brother left him. My point is, you can think about his style of leadership and teaching what you want but you cannot deny that he is devoted to the people in his care and that's not something you can say about a lot of the leaders of his generation.
Now, to the next gen leaders:
This is, in a way, even harder to decide ...
I wouldn't call jiggy the worst sect leader so easily. His record, imo, is very much mixed. The watchtowers, if I recall the novel correctly (it's been 6 months since I last read it ^^), were a pretty good way to get help to people who usually fall under the radar of the cultivation sects. So while he definitely sacrificed a lot in his rise to the top, he seems to have tried to help the common people (something that cannot be said about his two predecessors).
But ... who then? I thought a lot about it and I think I'm inclined to say Nie Huaisang. Don't get me wrong, I love him as much as anyone, but I also remember the part in the novel where, when wangxian investigate the "man eating bunker" (i wonder how accurate that translation is) a town's person sais that they don't expect help from the nie sect because ever since Nie Huaisang took over nothing gets done and they neglect to help the people within their territory. Now, we know that Nie huaisang cultivated a reputation of general incompetence so people wouldn't suspect him to scheme against jin guangyao, but in doing so, he obviously neglected his duty to the people under his care. Which is, imo, pretty consistent with his character. Nie Huaisang us ruthless when sufficiently angered and has no qualms to cause casual damage to achieve his goal (see Mo Xuanyu's suicide to bring wei wuxian back). His revenge was his first priority and so he placed being a good brother over being a good sect leader.
Best? Is also dificult. I honestly can't decide between Lan Xichen and Jiang Cheng? There are so many factors to consider here! (There were already woth the ones above, really): what actions count towards the assessment of their leadership? What makes good leadership at all? (Which is funny because I'm doing my masters in political science rn and that's one of the biggest questions in political theory. But I only really know "Western" political theory. Chinese philosophy i have only ever graced the surface of) which is to say ... I can't really decide.
Jiang cheng put his sect above all else. While there's a lot of debate about whether that was morally right, it's certainly what helped him rebuild his sect as quickly as he did. He is brash and sometimes cruel, but his deciples clearly trust him and admire him.
Lan Xichen is an incredible diplomat. He is calm, fair (i.e. when he decides to listen to wangxians accusations against the sworn brother he loved and investigated them himself) and proactive when he needs to be. (I know, he is often accused of being too passive within the fandom, but I don't think that is necessarily the case. In a world where most leaders seem to base their judgement on rumor and hearsay more often than not, he withholds judgement until he listened to all sides. That is not a flaw in leadership) Now, in the end, he seemingly follows his father's footsteps by going into seclusion. I would argue, that still doesn't place them on the same step leadership wise. A. The situation with Jin Guangyao and madam lan, imo, aren't equivalent. It's hard to judge madam lan because we don't know what let her to kill the lan teacher, but I think it's unlikely she deceived qingheng-jun in the process. Jin Guangyao actively deceived kan xichen for years. When lan xichen learned this, he decided to investigate and was badly hurt in the process. The outcome, seclusion, may be the same, but the reasons are different. Also, the novel heavily implies that lan xichen will eventually emerge and take up his duties again.
All of this is to say... I can't decide ^^
I'll answer the other putstabding ask tomorrow. It's past midnight now and I should really sleep. Thank you for being so patient 💙
Btw, happy holidays, if you celebrate 🥰

Oh yes, JC and WWX are a very well written sibling relationship, just like all the others! Each one is different, and that's what makes them unique, I don't think I've ever seen a series with such well written, and well developing, relationships! Even though it is very heartbreaking, indeed, and I'm still sad that JC and WWX didn't get to reconcile in the end... although that was plausible. "What am I supposed to do? Say thank you, and then sorry?" sums it up p well -✨
as JC cannot change the past anymore, he now knows that WWX was not the one mainly responsible for all the terrible things but after all that happened I understand that there is no reconciliation, even though it does break my heart. The friendships between WN and WWX/NHS and WWX are some of my favourites as well! Especially NHS and WWX, they're just so innocent in the beginning and seeing how time changes them is very interesting. My fav sibling dynamic to explore is NHS and NMJ, though! -✨
It's very interesting how different they are, and obviously NHS loved NMJ a great deal, while NMJ was rather strict to him... I'm also not ashamed of saying I love modern AUs where they're best bros. One of my favourite modern AU things, though, is platonic 3zun and WWX/NHS//JYL/JZX all coexisting and 3zun being excited brothers about everything. Now, do you enjoy reading modern AUs? And what's your favourite fanfic plot/trope, no matter if set in canon or AU? -✨
Ugh, the variation and depth to all the sibling and friend relationships in MDZS are just 👏 so 👏 good! It really makes it difficult to pick favourites sometimes, doesn’t it? I adore Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng and knew from the get go they were my favourite siblings, but then you have their interactions with Yanli too who is, best older sister right there alongside Wen Qing. I have a bit of a weakness for well written sibling bonds, so finding so many in the series without expecting it? Honestly, it just made me love the series all the more 💖
I absolutely agree with you! Half the heartache of Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng’s lack of reconciliation is just ... where do you even begin, really? All either of them ever wanted to do was protect the other, and look what happened. There’s a lot of anger and resentment (on Jiang Cheng’s part at least) there, but also a lot of yearning and sadness. Because they love each other so dearly and both want to be brothers again, but they’re older now and know that sometimes, you just can’t return to the way things were 💔
I actually sort of see the end of the drama as rather hopeful for their relationship, though. Because the important thing (at least on Wei Wuxian’s part) has been talked about, and even if Jiang Cheng is still struggling with the golden core reveal, it’s the step forward they needed. Jin Ling knows the two of them want to talk and sort things out but are too stubborn to do so ... but I wouldn’t be surprised if Jin Ling ends up bringing them together somehow. He is, after all, their sisters’ son for all he seems to mirror Jiang Cheng. Jin Ling has her caring side and the stubborn side to likely lock them in a room together until they talked things through 😂
The Nie brothers are so interesting! They care so much (enough that Nie Huaisang came up with the ultimate revenge plan. Honestly, what a king 👑). Have you had a chance to watch Fatal Journey with them at all? It’s high up on my to watch list, and it looks so intriguing! To be honest I think Huaisang is just an incredible character anyway. His brother is a little strict, yes, but it feels like tough love to me. Mingjue knows what Huaisang is really capable of and what potential he has, even with the facade Huaisang puts up for the rest of the world.
Oh, I love reading modern AU’s 😍 Since we’ve shared fic recs before CC, here are a few good ones I’ve read recently: Martial Claims by yeolinski, I’ll have you and you’ll have me by sundiscus and These Things Stay the Same by notevenyou.
As for tropes ... oh, wow. It sort of depends on the pairing and the story. I’ve read a lot of fic set in settings that I never thought I’d like half as much as I do, and a lot of the time it’s down to how good the writing is! As clique as it sounds, I do enjoy a good coffee shop or college au from time to time. But I also really enjoy things like ‘meeting in a bookstore’ or ‘flowershop au’s’. I think my favourite tropes are sort of getting together, mutual pining, miscommunication and a lot of fluff and comfort smut is always welcome too, but sometimes it’s not necessary if the story doesn’t feel it needs it, you know?
At the moment, I have found that I am yearning for a good ice skating!wangxian fic. I think that’s due to a mix of me thinking it would be perfect for them, watching this ice skating performance too many times for it to be regarded as healthy, desperately missing watching ice skating on the telly, the announcement for more Yuri on Ice a while back, and it just being winter time 😅 (Plus like ... wangxian ice skating to songs Lan Wangji writes and creates for Wei Wuxian them? Perfect!)
I have found that for wangxian (since that’s the Untamed ship I read the most) that I prefer modern AU’s for the getting together, and canon more for established relationships / exploring already existing character connections. Not saying it doesn’t switch out between the two ever, but I just seem to gravitate to that more.
I know you mentioned before you often write darker fic, but do you have any specific tropes you enjoy reading or writing more than others?
Oh! And while I remember and we’re on the topic of fic, if you enjoy the Nie brothers, I also recommend the fic The Light that Fails to Dim by glowingreverie. It includes a Wei Wuxian that is found and adopted by the Nie sect, Nie brothers (there are three of them with Wei Ying included!), Wei Wuxian still having connections to the Jiang clang, and is honestly just such an unusual yet interesting take on things that I think you’d really enjoy it! 💖
