Tumblr media
Pablo's POV
We just came back from the short break, and my groin somewhat healed but I kept feeling numbness in my upper thigh that I didn't mention to anyone. I hoped it would just go away and besides everyone who knows me knows that I HATE doctors!
I would rather push through pain for days than go see a doctor. It was since I was a kid and they couldn't find my vein during regular check up at La Masia that I developed real fear of needles or any hospital related 'stuffs'.
It was during training when I was trying to lift weights with my legs that I kept wincing so much so that Xavi pulled me to the side to ask if everything was alright.
"Soy bien, no te preocupes" I lied but man was suspicious saying I should do a check up with one of team doctors before the next game. It was my very own nightmare!
"But sir, it's really nothing..I'm probably sore" I said realizing just how illogical that was considering this was a first training since we got back from a break.
"He's scared sir! Pablito is scared of doctors!!" Ansu joked around as others joined him making me do my best to hide the embarrassment for being afraid of something so silly. I was Pablo Gavi after all!
"I'm not scared cabrón. I just hate being poked!" I said proudly pretending like I currently had no worry in my mind (which was far from truth).
"Scared or not, you have to see the doctor after training Gavi" Xavi ordered and I could do nothing but nod rolling my eyes at the guys who were smirking at me.
This is just my luck!
Your POV
It's been such a long morning already with lots of paperwork and barely any time for a proper meal or a cup of good 'wake me up' coffee.
I was interning with the medical staff as the young college student so of course they gave me all the grunt work but I didn't mind feeling grateful for the opportunity.
"Hola..um..I'm sorry, I need someone to get my blood drawn?" Gavi walked in and I felt myself staring at him before focusing on his question instead trying to forget that I found him extremely attractive!
"I can do that. Take a seat please" I said and he does but furrows his eyebrows in process.
"Aren't you like my age? Can you really poke people??" he said and I chuckled at his choice of words while prepping the syringe and the needle.
"Well, I got my EMT certification done early and now I go to school while working here and yeah poking people is kinda my specialty. Do you have an arm preference?"I said walking up to him immediately noticing that he was the 'nervous patient' which was kind of adorable knowing how confident he is on and off the pitch from seeing him around the camp.
"Well..um..I don't know" he said and that's when an idea popped in my head seeing that he had his eyes shut waiting for me to do something.
I slowly pulled up one of his sleeves putting on a tourniquet and wetting the gauze with some rubbing alcohol. That's when I start excercising my plan.
"You know I watched you play in the last game and I thought to myself 'damn! that boy is fine!'" I smirk seeing that he was starting to relax as his confidence returned the moment I said that. Pablo Gavi loved to be complimented, that's for sure ;)
"Is that right nena??" he said as I cleaned his skin but he barely paid any attention to my actions waiting to hear me say something back.
"Mhm..I mean you in that sweaty home kit..and your hair falling on your forehead..it did things to me" I said opening the syringe and slowly tapping his veins.
"I bet I can do better things to you.." Pablo said and I felt my panties getting wet knowing that my words were god honest truth and then I finally poked his vein pulling enough blood to run all the necessary tests.
"Alright! We are all done!" my words took him by surprise as he opened his eyes shocked that he didn't even notice me poke his skin as he was too busy imagining the things he wanted to do probably..not that I minded ;)
"Wait..so was this all to distract me?" he said and I smirked tossing away the waste before getting back to my desk.
"I will see you next week when the results come Gavi" my smirk only grew when he got up and walked over placing his fingers underneath my chin making me look up before suddenly crashing his lips onto mine leaving me in utter shock.
"I'll see you around nena" he winked before leaving. Damn it! Getting involved with a player!?
That's just my luck!
Guys please comment if you want this to become a series because I really like the plot :)

“As a queer woman, playing a queer character.” - Erin Kellyman, Willow Behind The Magic.
Do you know how refeshing it is to have actors that understand what it’s like to not see yourself in something?
I love Erin and Ruby, because they get it they know how much these characters mean to us.
To take the classic ‘Knight get’s the Princess’ trope, and to make it gay.
As Erin said, if she had these character’s when she was younger, it would have made it easier for her to understand the feelings she was having.
All of us that have struggled to figure out what we were feeling could have done with character’s like Kit and Jade, who don’t question that their feelings are for another girl, that are never shown it’s different to Boorman and Scorpia, or Sorsha and Madmartigan.
To have had that when I was 13 would have made a lot of things clearer a lot sooner, and I am so so so glad that young kid’s can look at these character’s and see themselves.
Kit, who isn’t a typical princess, she’s not girly. She has short hair, and prefers to be swordfighting than getting dressed up for a royal function.
Jade, who by all account’s isn’t a typical knight, she’s not a guy. But that doesn’t stop her, she’s never told that she can’t train, just that an elite group might not accept her to train with them, but they do.
For myself, I see myself in both Kit and Jade. I was never girly, I would rather be rough housing with the boys, climbing trees, playing football, always prefered short hair.
On the rare occasion I would play a game that involved princess’s and knights, I was always a knight rescuing the princess.
So to finally see me on screen, yes as two different people, but that’s me! That’s amazing. I’m 28 years old so to finally see that.
Kit and Jade will always have my heart. They will always be special to me.
Disney can never take them away from us. I’m sure I’ve said this before, but even if we don’t get anymore of them, if we don’t get season 2, Disney can’t ever take away the first lesbian princess, and her lady knight.
Kit and Jade will always belong to us. They will always be there for us to show to young kids. To show that diversity and representation.

I was tagged by @meanderingandrambling -- (in 2020, but I just found this in my likes so I'm replying three years late~)
Let's get to know each other. Fill out the below & tag some of your followers ❤
Who are you named after? (Famous actor) - that's my dead name, and it sucks bc it's been misspelled my entire life because OF COURSE, they named me after someone who spells a common name with an 'A' instead of an 'E'. Why the fuck!? My name, Kit, was chosen by me -- age 7, because A League of Their Own was my favourite movie. And I was obviously already vibing on a lesbionic level.
Last time you cried? I dunno, Friday? I cry like once a week, at least, it's healthy! Get out all my frustrations in one meltdown, then I'm alright for a few days.
Do you like handwriting? Yes, yes, yes! Handwriting things makes me remember them better. I handwrite tons of plot work when I'm planning fanfic. I also prefer written to-do lists vs digital.
Favorite meal? Sundog Diner's french toast. (RIP to my favourite diner in the world, whose absence has left a gaping hole in my heart)
Longest relationship? Meh, my first wife and I were together six years. But that was a HORRIBLE relationship. Doom Them and I have been dating somewhere around five years, and by far, the longest relationship I'll ever have (bc they are my forever <3)
Do you still have tonsils? Yeah, wtf is up with that!? I've had so many organs removed. Yet, I still have these shitty guys and I have a habit of getting strep every fucking year. TAKE THEM OUT!
Would you bungee jump? 20 yr old adrenaline junkie me, yeah. My now? BAHAHAHAHAH not for a million dollars.
What’s your favorite breakfast? Refer to question 4.
Do you untie your laces when taking shoes off? I'm supes disabled, so I actually have elastic laces!! I can slip in and out of my shoes without having to tie up laces. Honestly, such a great accessibility aid.
Favorite ice cream? cookies and cream ice cream sandwiches
What’s the first thing you notice about a person? Mostly, I think I sort of gauge the likelihood of queerness and go from there
Football/softball? Rugby.
What color pants are you wearing? Pink
Last thing you ate? Just had some chili and cornbread I made! Winter comfort foods.
What are you listening to? [clever title pending] playlist, but specifically : Stop Desire by Tegan and Sara
If you were a crayon what color would you be? Cliche af, but cerulean blue
Tag You're It (no pressure): @gaelic-symphony || @unitchiefs-blackbirdphoenix || @phantomhag-666 || @doctor-whothefuckknows * If you don't like being tagged in these let me know :)

What's your favorite line of dialog in Take You With Me so far? :D
Tumblr media
Gosh, that’s a tough one. There’s a lot of classic ones. More like snippets of conversation I quite enjoyed writing.
Tumblr media
Here’s a small collection of favorites done chapter by chapter so far that’s been posted. Under the cut so as not to take up a lot of space.
CHAPTER 1
"You need the first aid kit?" Ryoma asked.
"I got it," Mondo assured. "You finish getting ready for class. Don't wanna be late."
"Bold words from the class delinquent."
"Look who's fucking talking."
"Gonta." Ryoma turned around, gripping his racket tightly. "I need you to throw me."
Gonta's eyes went wide in disbelief. "What?!"
"Throw me over towards the gate like a football! You're the only one strong enough, so do it!"
"B-but gentlemen can not throw friends like football! Is bad manners!"
"Gentleman can make an exception today since friend wants to be football!"
CHAPTER 2
"His injuries were incredibly extensive. We must be patient regarding his recovery."
"Of course a Robot would say something so cold hearted."
"Excuse me-?!"
"C-can't breathe. Gonta. Please."
"Gonta so glad! Gonta sure you not wake up! Very worried-!"
"G-G-G-Gokuhara! Please! Y-you need to be careful! He's still healing! We d-don't want him d-d-d-dying a fourth time! P-p-p-please, b-be gentle!"
"Oh! S-sorry!"
"You're not going to show the execution, are you?"
"…No. Even that's a bit much for me. And I never liked the piano much anyway. Preferred the guitar."
CHAPTER 3
"What?"
"So it's "Kyosuke" now, huh?"
Crap. "Look, Chisa-"
"Don't "Chisa" me now. Why does Kyosuke get the special treatment so readily, you boxing meathead?"
"Do you want me to be less formal with you both or not?! Make up your mind, you damned airheaded housekeeper!"
"You okay, dude?" Kazuichi asked. "You're kinda-"
"You killed your omelet, Mondo," Rantaro stated bluntly.
"He said he's fine, teach," Kazuichi assured. "Trust him. He wouldn't just say that if he wasn't. Just relax."
"Are you sure this is the time to relax?" Rantaro asked.
"Why wouldn't it be? Ryoma's woken up, school's moving us to better housing in two months or so, and we have good food. I'd say it's the perfect time to relax." Kazuichi pulled the fridge door open. "Besides, it's not we're gonna get ambushed-"
"INFINITY UNLIMITED FLAME!"
"Hahahahahaha! That's right! Cower in fear, Kazuichi Souda! I, Gundham Tanaka, Supreme Overlord of Ice, have finally won this pathetic combat. Tremble and beg for mercy before Tanaka, The Forbidden One!"
Kazuichi glared at him, getting to his feet and snatching the juice from his bandaged hand. "Dammit, Gunham! You're not meant to show up for another hour!"
"Hmph. Time is irrelevant to the whims of the Darkness!" Gundham smirked. "What's more, the contracts have yet to be sealed, and so I have come to prevent them being driven asunder. The Demon of Speed needs his familiars boundary lines to be expanded in as timely a matter as possible."
"Ugh, I can't understand what you're talking about."
"He said he needs Mr. Sakakura to sign paperwork for Ryoma's cats." Gonta smiled, pointed to Kazuichi's breakfast, where four little hamsters were munching away on the veggies. "The hamsters tell Gonta. They also help Gundham sneak into kitchen."
"Hey! That's my fucking breakfast!"
"About time you got here!" Kokichi whined. "I was getting bored of being asked the same questions over, and over, and over, and over-"
"Be quiet, Oma," chided a synthesized voice.
"And with that, we're free to go, riiiiiight?"
"Anything else you need, Jin and Tonic? Because if not, we'd like to leave."
"Geez, that was annoying," Kokichi muttered as they drove off. "And so boring too. Would it kill her to have some kind of reaction beyond that stare?"
"Just be glad it was Detective Kirigiri interviewing you," Houzuki chided, swiping the last donut from Kokichi's hand as he put away the tablet. "I doubt you'd have shown the same restraint to Detective Saihara."
"Hey, that's my donut!"
"Consider it my payment for bailing you out. Again."
Kokichi pouted, watching the donut disappear behind the scarf. "You're mean, Yu-chan. You know I like to save the cream filled ones for last."
Houzuki shrugged. "Tough tittles, Leader. That's what you get for not listening to me and refusing to keep your fucking locker empty."
"You're the best, Yu-chan. I'm so glad you're part of the group."
"You're lying again," Houzuki mumbled, waving Kokichi's hand away. "Aren't you?"
"Nyehehehe. Nope. I'd never lie to you, and that is the honest truth."
"Sure, Leader. Keep telling yourself that. Maybe one day I'll believe it."
CHAPTER 4
"You have a lot of nerve storming into our home the way you did," Harunobu growled. "If you hadn't tossed your guns when you had, you'd be dead where you stand."
The stranger chuckled, barely looking up with a smile. "Technically speaking, Your Lordship, I am on my knees. I'm not standing right now. Have been the past half hour."
"And how many times do I gotta say it? Stop fucking calling me "Your Lordship" or whatever. It's annoying. Way too damn formal."
"Until Lord Harunobu steps down, I'm afraid that order is the only one I cannot follow. My apologies, Your Lordship, but the formalities shall remain."
Fuyuhiko scowled. "Whatever. Fucking bastard…"
"…You could come with us, you know. Pretty sure they'd let you in if you wanna visit him too."
"…Do you wanna die?" Kasai asked, glaring at Fuyuhiko.
The young yakuza heir just scoffed, the tension in his body easing a little. "You can just say no like a normal person, shithead."
Kasai's glare softened. "Aw, Lord Fuyuhiko saw right through me."
"It'd help if you didn't use that phrase so often."
"Alright. What'd you overhear the old hag say this time?"
"Hmph. Is that any way to refer to our mother?"
"You've called her worse."
"True."
"Dammit," Hajime grumbled. He turned around, just in time to see the door to Ryoma's room slide open and Fuyuhiko standing in the frame. "Afternoon, Kuzuryu-"
"You. Heard. Nothing." Fuyuhiko glared at the both of them. A glare Hajime had been on the receiving end of earlier that very same day. "Got it? Nothing."
"R-right, not a thing," Shuichi stammered.
He sure caved easy there.
CHAPTER 5
Slowly, she started typing.
"Hibiki".
The screen changed with a soft ping, and soon she was on the main page.
"You guessed it?" Kizakura asked.
"You picked whiskey brand," she stated. "You have hundreds of these bottles in your office."
"…Yeah. Whiskey…"
"Um…" She looked back to her brother nervously. "Hey, Makoto? Is….is the school haunted?"
Immediately, Kaito's chipper attitude vanished. "Oh, would you look at the time! I almost forgot I had training today! See ya!" He let go of Yasuhiro and bolted back into his room, locking the door behind him.
That was weird, Makoto thought.
"Hmh….now that you mention it…" Yasuhiro looked in the same direction, thinking pensively. "I can kinda see it….yeah…yeah….Yeah, I totally see it!"
Mukuro glared at him. "What?"
The Clairvoyant snapped his fingers, pointing right behind her. "A guardian angel in the form of a two-toned wolf in a giant blue overcoat and a bunch of knives strapped to his limbs! And that guardian angel is your guardian angel, Mooks!"
"…Are…you serious?" She shook her head in disbelief. "A what?"
Komaru twiddled her thumbs slightly. "I mean….I'm pretty sure one of those isn't a knife but…"
"Wait, you too?"
Makoto laughed nervously. "I mean, it's better than an angel with a perm chasing bigfoot with a skyfish in his mouth."

And that’s some of my favorite lines of dialogue that I’ve written so far in the fic. There’s plenty more to come, and I’m super excited for when we get to the part where that morse code post comes into play. (Let’s just say I’m trying to write a song and leave it at that.)
Thanks for the ask, my friend!

hi han! 9, 18, 20 for the ask game!
hi k!!
9. what if your favorite kit design?
my beautiful gorgeous girl barça 14/15 home kit, and 17/18 third kit just because the colors are soooo 😩
Tumblr media Tumblr media
18. do you think there is a player/players that have potential to be one of the greats?
yes!! there’s a few but specifically if santiago giménez could get out of feyenoord and into a top 5 league (preferably la liga or serie a) i think he could solidify himself as a top striker, he’s just 22 and just beat suárez’s calendar goal scoring record 🤞 i just. would love to see him succeed.
also julián álvarez if he’s not already solidifying himself as one of the greats, getting to a club where he’s an undisputed starter and striker he absolutely would be
20. who do you think is the funniest football player?
there are so many because they’re all dumb and usually unintentionally funny 😭😭 but probably kun agüero partially for the sheer fact that city’s best striker of all time is a twitch streamer now playing video games, what a time we live in man….
ask me football related questions!

Bayern Munich 18/19 home kit
This probably is one of my favorite bayern home kits from recent years. The design is inspired by the diamond patterns from the club logo but makes a bit adjustments to give it more depth and alteration and not just plainly repeats itself. In intentionally reducing the brightness and satuaration of the color, the diamond pattern perfectly plays its role as decoration. Not popping out or being the tail wagging the dog. You may not see it at first glance but once you look closer you’d be in awe of its glamour. The tone is darker than that of those from the previous seasons and I’d say it fits the overall style of this kit. Personally I prefer darker reds so maybe that’s why it ranks high on my ‘favorite trikots’ list but in a nutshell it’s the beautiful diamond pattern that truly makes it stand out.
#me and my highly questionable preference for certain football kits (1/?)

Mythology AU - Chase is a Selkie, Marvin’s a star spirit, Jameson’s fae but likes to look like a little black dog, Henrik’s the seventh son of a seventh son, and Jackie is Jackie! See other pieces from this universe here and here.
Thanks for the prompt, Kit! This fic is not actual ego shipping but features what’s basically a love spell on one ego which needs to be broken. But no one tries to take advantage of anyone else and they all work together to help. This is the earliest point in the timeline I’ve written so far, with Chase meeting Henrik, Jackie, and Marvin! I hope you like it.
As a lil mythology debriefing, most Selkie who have their coats stolen in the stories have them stolen intentionally and are then either forced to marry the men who stole them or fall in love with and marry the men who stole them. Giving a Selkie their coat back releases them to either stay or go, but I wanted to explore what would happen if a Selkie had their coat given back to them but was still too love-drunk from having it stolen in the first place to be able to think clearly and get back in the ocean.
.
He’s nervous.
A lot of Henrik’s clients are. A lot of Henrik’s clients are nervous. A lot of Henrik’s clients, these days, aren’t human.
The seventh son of a seventh son can see us, they might tell each other, flitting between the branches of a tree or drifting with the waves of the water. He learned human medicine, but he’s quick. He’s quick. He’s learning and his luck is good.
His luck is very good. His mind, he likes to tell himself, is better.
(But the truth is that his luck is better than anyone’s and maybe if it hadn’t caused him so much grief and driven him away from everything he had ever known he would appreciate it better.)
He’s nervous then, yes, but Henrik can’t see the glamour of a fairy on his skin or the flickering color of a shape-shifter’s eye. There are no horns hiding in his hair, no hooves tucked away in his sneakers, no water streaming endlessly from his eyes. He does not speak in tongues or hover just a centimeter off the ground. He does not glow. He does not breathe like the cosmos are running through his lungs.
He just looks human.
But if you are the seventh son of a seventh son, you might catch, in the air, the same thing that Henrik did - a slight smell of salt and stone.
And a faint feeling that the man and his child are not human.
“How’re you now?” asks the man in a whisper, tucking the baby close to his chest and taking a step back from Henrik as he swung open the door to his run-down little clinic. Henrik stares back at him and then around at the alleyway, wondering if someone is following him, but there is nothing there but the man and the bundle in his arms.
“Good, and yourself?” answers Henrik politely, crossing his arms over his chest. “It’s late, I’m about to close.”
“Sorry.” He tugs on the cap over his hair nervously, disturbing a single blond curl in the middle of his dark brown hair. “I thought the fever would go away, but it hasn’t. If I don’t get it checked out my ex will have me for sausage.”
“Mh. A baby?”
The man clears his throat and holds the infant out.
Henrik stares down at the baby. Up at the father. Down at the baby.
Now there is something slightly inhuman to them.
It’s in the eyes. He’s never seen eyes so dark and deep, like they were made for nothing but light to come in. With one, it’s an oddity. With the two of them...
It’s strange.
“The baby is human?” asks Henrik, in a voice that says he already knows the answer.
The man stares at Henrik, black eyes wide.
He’s nervous.
Henrik sighs and steps back from the door. “Come on in.”
“Thank you. Thank you. My ex would have killed me.”
The man darts in the door, heaving his backpack up on his shoulders and scurrying over to the examination table, where he takes one last glance at Henrik and then begins to unwrap the baby like a little Christmas present.
Baby shampoo and salt smell warm the chilly little clinic while the baby fusses unhappily at his father, reaching up to snag his finger and shove it into his soft, slobbery baby mouth for something to gnaw on. He has a little white onesie with different colors of fish patterned all over and a tiny breast pocket that says “I’m a real catch!”
Sometimes being supremely lucky is very nice, especially if it brings you cute babies to examine while you were in one of the slightly tired, bored, generally-unhappy-and-not-really-knowing-why moods you’ve been stuck in for some weeks. Henrik washes his hands at the sink and comes over to examine the baby.
“His name’s Hunter. I’m - ”
“Don’t tell me names,” Henrik cuts him off. “I don’t ask questions. You have money?”
“Yes, whatever you charge.”
“Dangerous offer.”
The man gives a weak chuckle.
Hunter gurgles angrily at Henrik’s hands roaming over his chubby body, kicking his feet in their booties and slurping on his father’s finger as a form of protest.
“Yes, his temperature is high,” Henrik agrees. “How long has he been like this?”
“Since yesterday. I just have him for the weekend and he’s been the grumpiest little sucker in the world. I have to take him back to my wife’s tonight. Sorry... my ex’s. She was my wife but now she isn’t, and so with the kids it’s kind of, uh. Well. Hard.”
“Don’t have to explain, I understand,” says Henrik mildly, listening to Hunter’s heart.
“Oh? You’re, uh, divorced? Or should I not ask questions either?”
Henrik raises an eyebrow at him, a small smile rising on his mouth. “I’ll excuse it this one time. We’re separated. But the child was much older.”
“Ah. Yeah. Messy split or was it, like, pretty clean?”
“It was a natural disaster,” answers Henrik wryly, and the man manages a full laugh this time, his stance relaxing a little.
He isn’t like the men from the gangs, staring in Henrik in silence as he works. He isn’t like the kids and adults who are running away from something and try to stay quiet despite the nervous confessions that keep falling from their mouths, looking for someone to confide in. He isn’t like the fairies who run their eyes up and down Henrik’s body, whispering to each other about how clever or how silly this human is or making snide jokes about him stinking of beer or bratwurst.
Henrik is glad. He thinks he needed a break from all of that. His work is his great love, but often it fuels his fury or, worse, breaks his heart.
There has been a melancholy in him lately. He does not know how to disperse it. No one would have noticed, because Jackie never can pick up on it, but Marvin said that his eyes had gone sad, whatever that means, and informed their roommate that Henrik needed cheering up. Since then he’s been hiding in his office more often than not - he can only be smothered in starboy kisses and served sympathy pasta so many times before he needs some space.
“Saw the game last night?” asks Henrik, noticing the father getting tense again.
“What game?”
“Well, my roommate said there was a game and he was very excited and mad and enthusiastic, which usually means it was worth watching.”
The man laughs. “Right. Yeah, football, wasn’t it? Good stuff, yeah. I saw the score. Didn’t watch it cause I got him here and the other one at home. Try to spend the whole weekend with them. Your roommate sounds like a character. He watches just football?”
“He’ll watch anything with a ball and some collisions,” says Henrik. “And he is certainly a character. How long have you lived among humans?”
The man’s head shoots up, his blond curl hanging in front of his eyes. “Hey, now!” he says. “That football question was a trap!”
Henrik winks at him and leans down to check the baby’s ears. “Fair play?”
“Fair play,” concedes the father, sitting back with an amused sort of irritation. “Since I was nineteen, if you must know.”
“So that’s, what, six years?”
“Eight.”
“And the baby?”
“Well, uh.” The man frowns and glances down at his son. “Well, he’s new, you see.”
Henrik bursts into laughter for the first time in days and fuck, that feels good.
“I meant how old is he!”
“Oh! Well, I - I didn’t know!”
He’s bright red, his freckles drowned out in blush. “I wasn’t sure what you meant, I don’t know what sort of babies you get in here - ”
“Hahaha! Not immortal ones!”
“Well, you say that, but I’ve met some weird creatures in my time!”
“Alright, that much I understand.”
“Maybe you thought he was a little spirit or something, I don’t know.”
“Aw, a little spirit baby.” Henrik hides his eyes and then pulls his hands away, catching Hunter’s attention with a game of peek-a-boo. “Are you a little god, Herr Baby? Are you a little spirit?”
“He’d be the god of spitting up carrots all over his dad.”
“Tom once walked up to me as I was sitting on the couch and when I asked him what was wrong, he immediately puked all over my slacks.”
The father throws back his head and laughs loud and wonderful, his shoulders shaking and her dark eyes a-glow. “Fuck’s sake. But then they’re worth it, aren’t they?”
He leans over Hunter to blow a blubber kiss into the fat of his stomach, but the child must be feeling unwell again, because he chooses this moment to begin wailing, his small face scrunched up with distress. The man is quick to try soothing him, rubbing at his hot, bumpy baby head and murmuring to him in Irish.
Truthfully, Henrik is grateful for the distraction. He shouldn’t have brought Tom up. Yes, they’re worth it. But sometimes they break your heart too.
“I can see why you were concerned,” he said. “His fever is quite high and has lasted a while. But I am wondering why you didn’t see a normal doctor? If you’re illegal, just tell me you couldn’t.”
“Ah, no, I could have,” admits the man, picking Hunter up and rocking him. “But I guess I don’t trust them. Or I’d prefer someone who knows... just, well, who knows, you know? We always used to see a doctor who was one of us, but now we’ve moved too far away. I didn’t know who to go to... I was told you had the Sight, that you would treat... people like us.”
“But I don’t know,” answers Henrik gently, pulling open his cabinets for a prescription. “You haven’t told me what you are.”
He looks up at Henrik. Down at the baby.
“We left everything we had known behind when we came to live with humans,” he says softly. “Since then I haven’t met another like me living among them. And I haven’t told anyone - not a soul - about what I really am.”
Curious. Curious. Only so many creatures would choose to make a split so deep. He must be able to pass as human almost perfectly. He knows he is not a werewolf, or he would need others of his kind to survive. He knows he is not demonic, or he couldn’t have passed through Marvin’s warding. He knows he is not a Pooka, because Henrik did not fear him, and Pooka do not love their sons, and Pooka do not speak as humans do, and a million other reasons, too, and yet the thought still crossed Henrik’s mind. Even when it is irrational, it always crosses his mind: what if? what if?
“I’m not going to tell anyone,” says Henrik, writing down Hunter’s temperature.
“I’m a little in the public eye, is the thing.”
“Oh-ho,” laughs Henrik, letting his eyes flick up to the ceiling for a second. “I got a celebrity in here.”
“I didn’t say that,” protests the father. “Come on, man. It would just be bad if anyone found out who would believe it. Some people don’t like people like me living with humans.”
Henrik puts his clipboard down and reaches out to touch his arm, meeting his gaze. “Look, ‘man,’ there’s really nothing to worry about. I get all kinds in here and I know how to keep the mouth shut when it should be. I would prefer to know. Some creatures can experience medical complications which would be misdiagnosed without understanding. But if you really cannot tell me, you can take the medication and go, just like if I were a human doctor.”
The man looks down at his child, patting along the baby’s stomach to soothe both Hunter and himself. “Okay, alright. Can I come back if any of the kids ever get in trouble again and I need a doctor?”
“Of course you can,” answers Henrik genially. “Especially since you can pay.”
He chuckles, stroking Hunter’s soft head. “Do you know who the Selkie are?”
Henrik stops short in the middle of preparing a syringe of medication.
“Take that as a yes,” says the man, sitting down at a visitor’s chair, his hands in his lap.
Henrik tries to go back to work as calmly as he can. “You’re something of a rarity, then.”
“There’s less and less of us every year,” he answers. “Most of us don’t live among humans, so we die as the ocean does.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, well. Me and my family don’t live like that anymore, anyway. Safer on land.”
“What is it like?” asks Henrik, unable to deny his own curiosity. “To be a man one moment, and a seal the next.”
He smiles grimly, playing with the cap of his hat. “To be able to transform is incredible. You feel like you’re apart of something much bigger than you. And that ability, to swim like that, to smell like that, to see like that... well, it’s an experience. But the truth is that when you’re Selkie you’re never expected to do anything but live and die by the ocean. And I wanted something more than that, even if it meant leaving everything behind.”
“I’m going to give him some medicine.”
“Oh, yeah. Okay.”
Henrik and the father coax the needleless syringe into Hunter’s mouth and convince him to swallow the medicine despite his fussy groaning and whimpering.
“Will that help?”
“Yes, I think so. Should reduce the fever. I’m going to prescribe you something to take with to help him recover more quickly, though I expect he’ll be just fine.”
“Oh, great,” breathes the Selkie, staring warmly down at Hunter, who sucks earnestly on his fist and wriggles his feet. “Thank you so much. I think my ex would have about killed me if I had brought him home with a fever and no trip to a doctor. I really didn’t know where else I would have gone.”
“It’s no worry,” answers Henrik. “But, if you were open to it, I might recommend bringing him down to the ocean for a while.”
The Selkie looks up, surprised.
“Whether or not you let him transform, it isn’t always good for creatures like you to be away from all of their people and their... natural habitats, you might say. If you don’t want to live among Selkie, I understand. But a Selkie baby is a Selkie baby. This part of his nature cannot be buried. Letting him play in the water might be good for him sometimes.”
The Selkie stares down at his baby, blinking.
“I don’t know,” he says uncertainly.
“Just something to think about,” replies Henrik levelly.
“Right,” sighs the Selkie, beginning to wrap Hunter back up again, but the suggestion seems to have left him uncertain and thoughtful, focused intently on his child. “Oh, uh, I gotta pay you. How much?”
“The medicine wasn’t expensive. Twenty-five pounds should cover it. But if you can give me more, it helps me keep the place running.”
The Selkie hands him a full fifty pounds. “I don’t know what I would have done without you, man. I don’t really trust human doctors with my kids.”
“If you ever need anything, you know where to find me. Tell me if his fever does not break. Here, my number. Don’t put me in your phone as anything suspicious.”
“Strange doctor in that backalley clinic on Lincoln, got it.”
Henrik smiles grimly at him. The Selkie grins back.
“Thanks for being cool, doc,” he says, touching his shoulder.
“I try.”
“Ha. Okay. Bye.”
“Hey,” says Henrik. “I was driven away from Germany a few years back. I left everything behind too - including, perhaps, people who needed me - but I had my reasons for going. And that doesn’t make me a bad person. Yes?”
The Selkie smiles softly at him, something small and grateful in his eyes.
“Yeah,” he agrees quietly. “Yeah. We have our reasons.”
As he turns to leave, Henrik sees the thoughtfulness come over him again. It’s like he’s far away already. And for whatever reason, when he goes, Henrik himself feels that strange and quiet unhappiness return to his chest as the silence of the lonely clinic consumes him again.
It isn’t until fifteen minutes later that he realizes the Selkie has left his backpack behind.
“Fuck!”
Henrik scoops it up and races out the door just in case he has the chance to catch the Selkie at the bus stop, but he and the baby are gone.
“Goddamn,” murmurs Henrik, walking back to his clinic. “At least he can come back for it. What does he have in here that’s so heavy anyway?”
It’s not really his business to look. In fact, it is his business to not ask questions and respect people’s privacy unless he thinks someone’s getting hurt by his silence. He really should not look in the Selkie’s bag.
But a sheen of smooth white through the almost-but-not-quite-entirely zipped-up backpack pauses him.
Henrik sits down in his office, staring.
He shouldn’t.
But he’s never met a Selkie before.
And if that’s what he thinks it is...
He’s pulling it out before he can doubt himself any longer.
“Wow,” he whispers. “Wow.”
The Selkie coat is beautiful. White and blond and brown patterns decorate the Selkie’s skin on a luxuriously soft coat. Henrik stands up and puts it on for a moment, marveling at the weight and warmth of it. He breathes in that same deep, salt and stone smell he caught on the Selkie when he first came in the door.
And if this were his skin, all he would have to do was walk down into the water of the ocean and then - transformation. He would be a seal.
“Incredible,” he murmurs to himself, taking the coat off again. “Truly.”
Being the seventh son of a seventh son is lucky, sure, but he thinks it might have been even luckier to be born as something as cool as that.
He sets the backpack down in the clinic. He doesn’t think much of it at the time.
.
Someone’s knocking on his clinic door.
“At one in the morning.” He tsks his tongue against his teeth. “Better not be those werewolf kids again, I swear.”
He gets up, straightening his coat.
“Who’s there?” He calls to the door.
“It’s - it’s - it’s - ” They seem to hardly be able to get the words out, breathless and stammering. “It’s the Selkie, fr-from earlier!”
“Oh, right.” Henrik unlocks and opens the door. “Did you come back for your - ”
Hands grab his lapels, marching him back towards the wall of the room as wild dark eyes bore intensely into him. The Selkie pants, his grip unwavering on his coat.
“Hey!” cries Henrik, a little alarmed. “What are you doing?”
“My coat,” whispers the Selkie, something desperate and terrified in his deep eyes. “Please, did I leave it here? Please, can’t I have it? I have to, I have to, I - ”
“Oh, alright,” sighs Henrik, finally shoving his hands off. “Yes, I suppose that must have been scary to lose. You seemed distracted.”
“You do have it,” sobs the Selkie. “Oh, fuck. Please, I’ll give you anything you want to have it back! I can pay you a lot of money!”
“Calm down, man.” Henrik shakes his head at him. “You are freaking the good doctor out. I don’t want your coat. You can have it back. Here.”
He steps over to the wall of the clinic and picks up the backpack, bringing it back towards the Selkie. He takes it from him with shaking hands and pulls the zipper open, finding the coat inside. Tears run down his face as he reaches in to trace his fingers over the smooth, familiar surface of his own skin.
“I’m sorry you were so freaked out,” says Henrik. “You should have called me.”
“Oh,” says the Selkie, in a very small voice. “I had your number, didn’t I?”
“Yeah. Are you okay?”
But he’s just staring down at his coat, flushed and weeping, silent.
“Hey,” says Henrik, touched by concern. “Hey. It’s okay. You’ve got it now. Everything’s okay, right?”
The Selkie stares at his coat. There is a change happening in his face, but Henrik doesn’t recognize the emotion there - just the fact that his face is going from very white to enthusiastically red.
“Can you say something?” asks Henrik. “You are beginning to worry me. Perhaps you have caught your son’s - ”
A pair of hands wrap around his wrists and then Henrik is thrown back against the wall and pushed into a passionate kiss. He yelps in surprise against the warm mouth pressing into his lips, too startled to push back. The Selkie draws away for a moment to breathe and grips at Henrik’s hair, staring at him with eyes that Henrik would think were glazed in fever if he could feel any heat coming off of him.
“Doc,” the Selkie half-groans, making embarrassment burn bright red against Henrik’s cheeks. “You gave it back to me.”
He leans forward to kiss him again and Henrik is glad to realize his brain is no longer crashing like a computer with a virus. Throwing a hand up to stop him, he yanks himself away from the Selkie, stumbling along the wall away from him.
“What the hell!” he cries, nearly tripping over one of the chairs. “You can’t just kiss someone!”
Distress floods down the Selkie’s face, his mouth flipping miserably and his eyes going wide with alarm. “Did I – I did something wrong?”
“You have to know it’s not normal to just start kissing someone.” Henrik scans those blank eyes a second time, beginning to be concerned. Is he having some kind of delusion? Is he drunk? “You said you’ve been living among humans since you were young. What’s going on?”
“I’m sorry,” chokes the Selkie. “I – I know I’m a screw-up, I didn’t mean to make you angry, please don’t make me do anything – ”
“Make you do something?”
“My head feels wrong,” cries the Selkie, and when he curls in on himself he does it so suddenly Henrik thinks he is collapsing. He rushes forward to help him, alarmed. “I didn’t think it could be this strong!”
“What? What is it?” demands Henrik, taking his face between his hands and pulling his gaze up. “What did you take? What are you on?”
“My coat,” breathes the Selkie, his eyes going soft again as Henrik draws his gaze back to his face. “You gave it back to me...”
He surges forward for another kiss and Henrik yelps, shoving his face away. The Selkie makes a squawking noise that would be pretty damn funny in just about any other situation and goes crashing back onto his ass, distress tearing up his freckled face. He stares up at Henrik with enormous eyes dark as the universe, tears welling up in his thick eyelashes.
“Oh, no, oh, no,” he cries, grabbing his own shoulders. “I didn’t mean to make you mad. Please don’t make me do anything. I can be good for you. I want to.”
This is officially too much. Something is wrong, and if Henrik’s luck holds - and it always does - the sense he’s getting that this is because of some magical bullshit will ring true.
“You’re not on drugs, are you?” he asks. “Or drunk. This is something else.”
The Selkie clutches the soft fur of his coat to his chest and sobs, rocking himself back and forth on the floor of the clinic. “Please, I have children, I only just recently got divorced, I don’t want to do anything...”
“You... you don’t have to do anything. You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. I won’t make you. Calm down.”
Henrik sinks slowly down to the floor in front of him, giving him some space and trying to look non-threatening, his hands held gently out in front of him. He lets out a shaky sigh, still feeling unnerved. “Just, uh. Don’t try to kiss me again,” he laughs nervously.
“You look so perfect right now, though,” cries the Selkie, hiding his face from him. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this attracted to a person, not even Stacy. I thought this was just a myth. I didn’t think it would feel like this.”
Henrik’s face flames with embarrassment. He tugs at his collar, looking anywhere but at the Selkie, trying to think of anything to say.
“Look - just - stay here for a second. I’m going to give my friends a quick call. They’ll help us figure this out, okay?”
“They won’t hurt me either, will they?”
“Hurt you? No, no, never. They like to help people like you.”
“Cause I’m vulnerable right now, man, I’m - ” The Selkie’s voice shatters and he shakes, wrapping his arms tighter around himself. “I think I’d do anything you asked me to.”
“I’ll just give them a quick call. They’re very trustworthy. They saved me too, when I was vulnerable. I’ll be right back.”
“Okay,” he says in a small voice.
Henrik slips into his office on feet that are tingling as though he’d just looked off the side of a very tall building. He’s pulling the door tightly shut and yanking out his phone to find Jackie’s number before he’s even given himself a second to breathe, all but slamming the phone to his ear and collapsing into his rolling chair.
“Hullo?”
“Jackie!” he yelps, squeezing the phone to his face. “Hilf mir!”
He knows Jackie has leapt up because he hears him swear as he slams his knee into the coffee table like he always does and, subsequently, Marvin’s laughter in the background. “Okay, I’m coming, I’m coming! What’s wrong, are you hurt? Marv, get up, let’s go!”
“No, no, it’s not that. There’s a Selkie here and I think he’s been cursed to fall in love with me! Can I bring him to the house?”
There’s a long pause on the other end.
Then Jackie is laughing at him.
“Hey!” shrieks Henrik, spinning around in his chair, his anxious feet pedaling him around and around. “It’s not funny!”
“Marv, some guy is hitting on Schneep and his dumb ace ass doesn’t know how to handle it, hahaha.”
“Jackie!”
“You’re so funny, Schneep, I bet you’re red as a tomato.”
“Shut up! Jackie - well, maybe I’m red, but listen! Something’s really, really wrong with him. For real, I mean. He keeps saying how into me he is but he’s terrified of me at the same time - shaking and holding himself. He keeps talking about his coat. I think something’s really wrong.”
There’s a pause on Jackie’s end as Marvin and Jackie confer. A moment later, the phone is passed to Marvin.
“Hi, rabbit’s foot. Is the Selkie hurt?”
“I don’t think so. Just acting really weird.”
“Best be gentle with him, Henrik. Endangered species.”
“I know. I’ve never met one before. I don’t know what else to do.”
“Most Selkie are very social. They live in big clans with normal seals mixed in and many don’t mix with humans anymore. I’ve been to a couple families and they’re the friendliest, most open you’ve ever met. Maybe he just doesn’t understand how to flirt with you?”
“No, Marv, this isn’t that. He’s lived with humans for years. And even if he hadn’t... something’s wrong. Are love potions real?”
“Uh, not sure! Jackie? He doesn’t know either. Okay, clover, better bring him back to the house.”
“Okay. Okay, yeah. I’ll be home in fifteen, alright?”
“Henrik, if he tries to touch you and you don’t want him to, use force, alright? Even if he’s cursed he doesn’t get to take advantage of you.”
“Right.” Henrik feels some of the red drain from his face. “Yes. No one takes anything from me I don’t want to give anymore.”
“Love you!” says Marvin cheerily. “See you soon! Humans are so funny when they blush. Like, that’s not where all that blood’s supposed to be, silly! I - ”
Henrik hangs up on him before he can really get to ranting. He puts his phone down on his lap and takes a deep breath. He gets up. He can do this.
He opens his door and comes face-to-face with the Selkie.
“Sorry!” he squeaks, backing away from Henrik and darting back towards the clinic. “I got nervous when I couldn’t see you, I’m sorry.”
He’s all wrapped up in his coat, his soft brown hair curling out of a fluffy hood, his eyes huge and dark in its shadows and his arms wrapping it around himself like a blanket. Henrik’s discomfort is briefly halted by his ravenous curiosity.
“You are wearing the coat, but are not a seal?”
“Oh, no.” He glances down at himself. “I have to be in living water.”
“How biblical.”
“Is it?”
“Sure. Jeremiah. Zechariah.”
“I just mean moving water, I suppose. We call it living. Salt water, preferably. But I haven’t been in that for a long while.”
“The ocean is so close. You don’t swim?”
The Selkie shakes his head, staring down at the floor, and something hot and aching flashes through his ink eyes. “Not for me.”
Henrik purses his mouth, looking at him. He cuts a miserable image, shaking and wrapped up in his furs, his face red and scared, but damn if he doesn’t look sweet too. Henrik sighs and reaches out a hand.
“Let me take you to my friends,” he says. “They’ll be able to help.”
The Selkie looks up in astonishment, mouth parting. Tentatively, he reaches out and wraps his fingers around Henrik’s. The touch seems to soothe him, though his eyes water.
“Really?”
“Yes, of course. We’ll figure this out together, alright?”
“Wow,” croaks the Selkie, his voice breaking. “You’re so nice. Wow. I’m lucky it was someone like you, Doctor.”
The raw admiration makes Henrik fumble with his keys as he locks the door to the clinic behind him, pulling the Selkie along with him.
“It’s Schneep,” he says, leading him towards the bus stop.
“What?”
“My name. Everyone calls me Schneep. Henrik if you really want to get my attention.”
The Selkie stares across at him, turning the name over in his head. “Henrik... wow.”
“Please, don’t sound so in awe of me. This is terribly strange.”
“I’m sorry this is happening,” says the Selkie, turning away again. The moonlight makes his coat glow sleek and shining in the night. “Guess in the storybooks I’m meant to be a girl anyway.”
“I’m not much interested either way, thank you. What’s your name?”
His pale mouth parts. His dark eyes flicker. He stares out at the asphalt, gripping Henrik’s hand tightly in his own.
“Just call me Chase,” he says. “The rest doesn’t much matter.”
They wait for the bus in silence, questions waiting in the air between them. When they get on the bus, Chase puts his head down on Henrik’s shoulder, and Henrik does not stop him.
.
That’s all for now but I’ll write more if I feel like it :) basically this turned into an introduction for how they met. The rest of the story would be Chase and Henrik both getting along really well and Henrik protecting him and taking care of him while he’s in this sort of dazed state. Ultimately, Stacy would tell them the attraction was supposed to wear off days ago. That makes Chase realize that he isn’t romantically attracted to Henrik anymore - he’s just been really lonely and feels like he’s part of a family again around Henrik and Jackie and Marvin and he didn’t want to leave them. He thought he was just feeling that way because Henrik stole his coat accidentally. Henrik confesses he likes being around Chase a lot too.

It was fun to write, and there was a third chapter planned to post[ perhaps I’ll post a bonus later or something], though Hetalia has been in the back of my mind with the creation of this blog. Don’t worry babsies [is that the plural form of babs?] Mod Ioten will post BSD stuff soon lol
Despite the disruption in peace yesterday, Arthur opened the store with a smile on his face. Francis followed shortly, clocking in while Arthur was eating his morning sandwich and drinking his first cup of tea of the day. “Bonjour mon ami!” Francis hummed, walking in from the back.
“Did Alfred get home okay?” Arthur couldn’t help but ask, blowing on his tea before taking a sip.
Francis’s eyes softened, and he looked down at the coffee in his hand. “Yes, he is alright. Merci Arthur for allowing him to wait here with his friends. I will have to call Matthias’s guardian to share my thanks as well.”
Arthur coughed a little bit, choking on his tea a bit. “I-It’s no big deal,” Arthur got out through coughs. “I would want someone to do the same for my own son if the same situation arose with him.”
The Frenchman looked up in surprise, “You have a little boy as well?”
Reaching into his wallet, he pulled out a small Christmas photo taken last year. “His name is Peter, Alfred acts quite a bit like him,” He chuckled, handing it to Francis.
“He’s a beautiful boy…” Francis mumbled, looking over the photo. “Is this your wife?” He asked, pointing at the woman who held her hair neatly in a partial ponytail.
Arthur looked away awkwardly, “Oh- uh. Yes. Peter is much closer to her than me.” He didn’t really want to discuss any more of it, so he attempted to change the subject. “Are you close with Alfred? He talks about you a lot.”
“He talks… about me?” Francis seemed shocked. A spark lit inside, and these eyes opened wider than before.
“Does he usually not?” Arthur questioned, setting down his tea.
“Alfred at home is much more… let’s say reserved at home. He doesn’t talk much nowadays.” Francis took a drink of his beverage, turning around to begin his shift.
Arthur leaned over the counter to look at Francis going to the other side of the store. “The fruit needs to be rearranged to make it look like there’s more than we actually have!”
He waved Arthur off, and the man relaxed a little bit. Finishing up his breakfast sandwich, Arthur got up to begin sweeping the floor. There were forty-five minutes before the store had to open up; Arthur could prepare it in twenty. Thinking back to yesterday, he took note that Francis was right in that the store had an odd sour smell to it. He would never admit it though, but the itchiness in his palm crept back into his mind. He tried to rub it against the broom handle, seeking some, any relief from the result of the new revelation. However, nothing seemed to help him. In Arthur’s frustration, he stomped over to the back room. Mumbling curses to himself, he grabbed a can of air freshener and started spraying around the store.
Francis watched in bewilderment at the scene, freezing while still holding an apple. “Mon ami I do not know if it is my place to speak on your…choices. But what are you doing spraying that can like a mad man?”
“The store smells bad” Arthur mumbled, turning to the direction of Francis, getting ready to spray.
“Hey hey hey! You will poison our produce!” Francis grabbed Arthur’s shoulders, turning him around. “What is wrong with you!”
Arthur scrunched up his face when the powerful waft of fresh linen hit his nostrils. He started coughing, crouching over. “We can open a little bit later if it helps you ca-”
“No!” Arthur yelled, shooting back up. “We-” He coughed a little bit more, “We can’t afford to open later than the morning rush!”
Although it made moderate sense to Francis and was a good enough reason for him to back off, Arthur knew that wasn’t the truth. It wouldn’t be normal for him to open up the store later than 6:30 in the morning. It wouldn’t be right. “To get rid of this…aroma, may I suggest we turn on our air?” Francis suggested, and Arthur begrudgingly agreed. Francis looked on in concern as Arthur sludged over to the thermostat, turning and twisting knobbles and bobs. He knew the signs of trouble when he saw it.
Though the owner and his employee found themselves in hot water in the morning, that didn’t stop Arthur from opening up at 6:30 AM. Sitting at the counter, he sipped at his tea waiting for the customers to roll in.
A few moments later, the sound of the bell that filled him with so much joy rang; and he was filled with the euphoria that rushed over him every time a body entered. As customers filed themselves in, each one took a look at their preferred groceries. A line began to form as the first batch of customers gathered their usual items, some chatting casually with each other as they waited for Arthur to check them out.
His first customers were a pair of twins that he knew very well. The Vargas brothers, one more comfortable in the public atmosphere than the other.
“Buongiorno signore Arthur!” Feliciano set down a bag of biscotti and a sewing kit. As he bounced and made small comments of the climate of the day, his brother bashfully brought a bag of tomatoes to the counter. The twins were students who used to babysit Peter before he went off to elementary, so Arthur knew them on a more personal level than the rest of his customers. “The weather has been unpredictable lately,” Feliciano whispered, rattling his hand on the counter.
“Indeed it has,” Arthur mused, weighing the bag of tomatoes and slapping a sticker noting that it was paid on the front. “If I’m correct it’s supposed to clear up by the end of the afternoon. It’ll be a nice change of pace from all of the rain we’ve been getting.” Arthur smiled to himself as he continued the routine he’s been doing for the past fifteen years. Checking out and conversation, what more could a man need?
“Really!” Feliciano gasped excitedly and grabbed his brother’s arm. “Lovi, we can play football together then!”
His brother, Lovino, looked at him angrily. “I told you not to call me that dumbass!” He said it in a whisper, though most people around the twins could hear their conversation. Lovino jerked his arm away from his brother, who still held the excited demeanor as before.
“Your total is 12.94,” Arthur gave a polite nod to the pair as they scrambled to get their money out. With random coins and a couple of bills, their groceries were paid with exact change. “Have a nice day you boys!”
“Say hi to Peter for me! Ciao!~” The two grabbed their respective items and walked out the door, Feliciano chatting to himself while Lovino took a bite out of one of the tomatoes he had bought.
As the two walked out, the same lady who had bought his gummy bear supply walked up to the counter. She didn’t hold anything in her hand, and there wasn’t anything on the countertop either. “Hello miss, can I help you with anything today?” Despite his polite form, Arthur’s hand began to itch at the prospect of something wrong with the customer’s visit.
The young lady ducked under the counter, and Arthur leaned to see what she was doing. She was snickering to herself, and placed down the box of gummy rolls that Gilbert had purchased yesterday. She was just about to pull out her money to pay for the rolls until someone called her name, causing her to turn around.
“Elizabeta! Can you pay for this too?”
A tall, awkward man emerged from the end of the line, walking slowly up to the girl. He seemed to be in poor health, heaving with every step he took; as if just being alive took a heavy toll on him. Elizabeta sighed, taking his energy drink and cheese stick and placing it down onto the counter. “Are you okay Roderich?” She asked, reaching her hand up to caress his face as Arthur scanned their items.
“I’m fine,” He sighed, batting Elizabeta’s hand away. “Thank you for paying.” Roderich leaned into her as she got her pocket money out.
“Are you a fan of these gummies?” Arthur asked as he was halfway through scanning the 34 rolls in the box.
Elizabeta laughed, “Oh no I’m not. I have a friend who is a big fan of them though. A couple bucks to see his face when he comes to school, finding out I bought all of his favorite candies, is worth it all the way.”
Arthur smiled to himself at the childish scheme. “Well, as long as I’m getting the money for the product,” he laughed along. “Would you like separate bags?”
Elizabeta and Roderich looked at each other before Roderich turned to Arthur, replying with a short no thank you. “Very well then,” Arthur smiled, carefully placing all of the gummy rolls around the boy’s Red Bull and cheese. When the exchange of money and product finished, Arthur waved goodbye to the pair. Roderich and Elizabeta turned around to say a quick goodbye. Arthur saw them lace their fingers together, and he smiled seeing them casually walkout.
The morning rush continued with familiar faces, casual acquaintances, and the same customers who would always come in the morning. Arthur felt good, despite the incidents in the morning and yesterday afternoon.
Time seemed to fly by as he and Francis guided people into making purchases, cleaning the store in the downtime, and checking out customers. Soon enough, Francis had to leave to pick up his son from school; and Arthur was left to his own thoughts.
His mind steeped into unhealthy territory. Every single detail of his life, every single constant he thought over as he drank his tea and ate his afternoon sandwich. He smiled as he reminded himself that nothing would be changing, that everything would and could not shift.
It couldn’t happen; he wouldn’t allow it.
He thought over the boys that he’d grown fond of. A shift, maybe, but a slightly more pleasant one than the changes he’s used to. But he had thought it over, saw where they would fit in his world that never changed.
They would come in every day, that's a plus. Always ordering the same items? Even better. Then he thought further. What would happen when he would retire? What would happen when the boys graduated? What would happen when the divorce went through, and he could only see his son for three days every week?
Arthur stopped moving when his teacup was six inches from his face. He sucked his breath in, and slowly set his cup down. He felt an itch creep up into his palm, worse than all of his other incidents. He couldn’t breathe. He had to get out of such a suffocating environment. As if he was in a daze, Arthur stood up and walked towards the door. Reaching towards the sign hanging on the inside of the door, he turned it so that the ‘open’ sign faced him. He finally allowed himself to let the air in his lungs flow out. He opened the door and walked through, turning around to lock it. He scratched his hand, walking through the streets of his familiar town with a thick haze surrounding his aura.
Arthur was wandering for a while. He didn’t know how far he’d walked until he found himself at the intersection which separated the stores from the roads leading to the major highway. Turning around, Arthur found himself at his rival’s grocery. Waddling in, he kept quiet. A bell sound, different from the one he had in his store rang. The smell was completely different too.
Why was he here? Arthur couldn’t answer the question himself. He had the afternoon rush to wait for after all. However, it was too late to turn back, he’d already entered the store and caught the attention of the clerk.
“Arthur Kirkland.” He turned to the side, seeing the Chinese man that tormented his business for the past 10 years. “Come to buy something different than European product?” Yao asked, folding his arms on the counter.
“I-I…” Arthur stuttered out, not able to come up with something suitable to say. With a cocky brow raise, Yao stood up and made his way over to the unusual guest.
“If you are looking for something we have it,” Yao said proudly. “You want bowl? Soap to brighten skin? I have Kiku cut pig blood for your cooking!”
“No thank you…” Arthur moved his arm in a shooing motion.
“You walk into my grocery and say you not need any,” Yao rolled his eyes, growing frustrated with the Brit. “Why are you even here?”
Arthur stood stiff, staring at the store, at the unfamiliarity of it all. Walking off, he wandered deeper into the aisles of foreign goods. Boxes of products he’s never seen, lines of items he wouldn’t dare to carry in his store; he leaned against a shelf for support. Faintly, he could hear Yao yell a little and then give up, walking back to his counter.
Suddenly, his whole body itched, and no matter how much he tried to relieve himself, the uncomfortable sensation never ceased. His nails dug into his skin as he scratched vigorously at his palms. In addition to his discomfort, he felt skin break and a stinging feeling begin to set in. He stumbled into the next aisle, scanning the items to try and find some sense of familiarity. Boxes of medicinal tea lined the shelves, and he was comforted somewhat by the leaves he used every morning. Then he found it.
He ran towards a box that held the black tea he drank every morning and held it as if it was gold. Shaking, he palmed his pants to see if he had his wallet. He felt a wave of relief when he felt the bump in his pocket.
Arthur walked over to the counter, presenting Yao with a hesitant smile. The man behind the counter looked at him through suspicious eyes, and took the credit card Arthur held out. “What bring you to my grocery today Mr. Kirkland?” A thick Chinese accent laced the man’s tone. Arthur found it funny that the long ponytail that Yao held his hair in swayed whenever he spoke.
“A-” Arthur found his throat to be unusually dry. “A change of pace is good sometimes.”
Yao didn’t reply, only humming as he handed back the card, giving Arthur his tea in a plastic bag.
Quickly, Arthur bid Yao goodbye and ran towards his own establishment. While the itchy feeling never went away, the dryness in his throat sure did with the enormous amount of tea he drank when he got back.
He almost forgot to turn the open sign back around before sitting down at the counter. Everything was okay, Arthur told himself. All he had to do was wait for the afternoon rush.

survey by ashleybayle
Has anyone ever told you that you looked like a celebrity? Yeah. The most popular opinion I get is Anna Akana and a local singer named Kakie, and then more occasionally I’ve also gotten Lucy Hale. Of course, all of these people are absolutely gorgeous though so it’s hard to accept comments like these lol
When was the last time you got something done to your hair? Professionally, late February. But I trimmed my bangs last Saturday.
Do you have any change on you right now? Barely. I only have a few 1-peso coins and a couple of 25-cent coins left.
What color is the pillowcase(s) on your bed? They’re pink with white lines.
Do you have a favorite day of the week? I like Monday mornings because we have weekly video calls for work and it’s really the only time I get to talk to other people anymore. Even if I can’t really count any of my colleagues as my friends, I’m able to get the human connection I’ve been hungry for and it always leaves me feeling good for the rest of the day.
Cutting your hair extremely short, would you do it? Yeah. That’s what I did last February; I’d do it again once my hair gets too long. I’ll probably go even shorter the next time because depression.
Have you ever been in an art show? I’ve been to art exhibits, if you’re referring to the same thing.
Would you considered yourself to be well-exposed to life or sheltered? I was sheltered for most of my life but I’ve been trying to get exposed to more scary life things so that I slowly start to detach from people I used to normally depend on, like my parents.
How high is your pain tolerance? Not high at all. I bruise like a peach and have near-meltdowns over sharp objects especially if I get pricked by one.
Have you ever played the game Halo? I don’t think so. I could have watched others play it in the past, but I’ve never played the game myself.
Are you wearing any jewelry at the moment? No I’m not.
Is there a sport that you love to play? Table tennis! Futsal was also fun the one or two times I played it, and it was in playing that sport that I learned I apparently make a good goalkeeper. In an alternate universe I probably play football, ha.
Has anything made you sad in the past 48 hours? Yes. That’s a constant state of mind now.
Have you ever had to learn lines for a play/skit/movie? Yes. We were required to do so many skits in high school so making scripts and memorizing lines was part of a normal day.
Do you like your nose? I’ve never complained about it. I don’t normally think about my nose either.
Is there a hair color you prefer on the opposite sex? No.
Kissing someone with facial hair, do you mind? I’ve never tried it, so I don’t have a solid opinion.
Would you ever like to be a stunt person? Sounds fun but I’m barely physically fit for such a role and I’d break a bone almost immediately. Even professional stunt people get injured, so...
Are you a pyromaniac? The furthest thing from it. I’m terrified of fire.
How soon is your birthday? Six months and a day.
Are you one of those people who listen to songs on repeat? Isn’t everyone prone to doing that once in a while? But yeah, I guess I’m ‘one of those’ people.
Can any of your friends sing very well? Lots of em. Hannah, Tina, Ed, Andi, Michelle, Nacho, etc.
Would you ever enter any kind of pageant? That does not sound interesting to me.
Do you have piano fingers? No :(
What is your preferred curse word? Fuck.
When someone's drunk, the truth comes spilling out, correct? I guess, for some people. Other people express their drunkenness in other ways. But I for sure lose my filter once I’m drunk; it’s a lot easier to ask me questions once I’ve had a few glasses, ha.
Have you ever shouted something random at someone out a car window? I’m sure I’ve rolled down my windows to cuss out a stupid driver once or twice.
Have you ever slept on a beach? No. I know my mom does, but I personally find it risky/dangerous. When it comes to open spaces like the beach, I find it hard to trust people to not be thieves.
Would you like to be taller? It’s not an active wish of mine. It’d always be cool to be taller, but I’m also okay with my current height.
Are you a fan of piercings on the opposite sex? Not necessarily. I wouldn’t say I’m attracted to them.
Have you ever listened to Celtic music? Nope.
Do you enjoy making up words? I’ve never done that, no.
Have you ever been attacked by an animal? Aside from the time a giant bird kind of charged at me at a safari and getting playbites from Cooper, no. Cats hiss at me all the time, but I get out of their vicinity before they can attack me or whatever.
Who did you dance with last? Rita, Blanch, Mik, Laurice, Jum, a bunch of strangers.
When holding hands, do you intertwine fingers? Yeah. That’s my favorite.
Is there a movie that makes you cry every single time you watch it? This is gonna get some eyerolls but...Titanic. Forever one of my faves no matter how overrated people find it, hahaha. The “Rose Dawson” scene gets me all the time.
Do you ever talk to the TV? I mean if I have comments about the show I’m watching, yeah I guess I’m technically talking to the TV. But I don’t talk to the TV like a camera, if that’s what you mean.
What's your opinion on Johnny Depp? I feel for him and all the shit he’s gone through with Amber Heard. I’ll always feel bad for having sided with Amber in the past. Movie-wise, not really a fan of his repertoire but I respect his craft and abilities nonetheless.
Have you ever watched the Tudors? Nah but I hear of it a lot, so I’ve always been interested.
Can you speak in different accents? No. My dad’s super good at accents though since he travels a lot for his job. He can do American, Indian, Singaporean, Chinese, Australian, etc.
Who was the last person you mocked/mimicked? The annoying person at the BIR who wasted my time.
If you write, isn't writer's block the most horrible thing? I’d say it’s inconvenient, but it’s not the worst of my worries whenever it strikes.
Can you sew or knit? No but I’ve made up my mind about learning how to :) I put some cross-stitch kits on my online shopping cart recently and I can’t wait to get my hands busy.
Do you have a favorite pair of jeans? Yesssss. They’re the only pair of jeans I wear these days, on the rare times I have a reason to go out.
What size shirt do you normally wear? XS.
Are you good with money? I’m good with saving if I absolutely have to, but I’m equally good at spending all my money in one go lol
Has anyone ever aimed a gun at you? No. Don’t know how well I’d fare in that; I tend to freeze up and forget words when I’m terrified.
What is the first letter of the person's name you last kissed? G.
Do you use myspace for following celebrities, and facebook for friends? I never regularly used Myspace, and Facebook is for sharing memes, staying updated on the news, and connecting with family and friends. At least up until I deactivated last month.
Have you ever written a song? Maybe in grade school when it was an assignment for class, but never on my own time.
Do you believe there is life on other planets? Other planets in other galaxies perhaps in other universes, sure.
If you think about the universe long enough, it's baffling isn't it? Doesn’t take long for me, but yes it is.
When was the last time you fell? I haven’t in a while.
Are you a fan of Christian Bale? I wouldn’t say so. I don’t think I’ve seen any of his movies. I’ve been meaning to watch American Psycho for years but just never got around to it.
Do you have any sort of debt? No.
Is there an accent you prefer? I don’t know if prefer is the right word since I don’t have any favorite accents, but hmmm I can listen to Florence Pugh’s accent all day.
Have you spoken to the person you love today? Yep.
Would you ever travel to Los Angeles? If given the chance sure, but I honestly prefer other cities.
Have you ever been through a natural disaster? A lot of them.
Is there a specific time period that interests you? I don’t think I’ve ever been hooked to just one specific era...I’m interested in all of them and read about them an equal amount.
Do any of your friends own an expensive car? JM used to drive a Lexus to school on Fridays.
Have you ever been on a train? Just once. I had to go to Manila for a journalism class but I wasn’t willing to drive all the way there, so I took a train and had Jum keep me company because I didn’t know how commuting worked.
Is there a memory that embarasses you to think about? I mean yeah, there are a lot.
Have you ever used different colored paper clips? Possibly.
Where exactly are you right now? In a corner in my room.
Don't you admire those people who know exactly what they want to do? I admire anyone who’s able to make the best of what they’ve got, no matter what their progress is in life. Life shouldn’t be a contest of who gets their shit figured out the earliest or the best way possible.
Is there a guy you can talk to about anything? No.
Have you ever been in a parade? I know I said in a previous survey that I haven’t been to a parade, but now that I think about it I’ve been to several Pride Marches, which kinda count as parades...so yeah, I have been.
Would you ever consider being a news reporter? My entire family wanted me to end up being one, but it was never an interest of mine. I was just too shy to tell them that that’s not really my goal. I like staying behind the camera for the most part.
Are you, or anyone you know, an atheist? Yes and yes, I know several people who are.
Has anyone ever told you to "get a grip"? I don’t think I’ve ever gotten those exact words before.
Do people say you look your age? Or younger or older? Younger.
Have you ever sent a celebrity fan mail? Kind of. Five years ago my friend Heather and I were at YouTube Fanfest where Joe Sugg, Caspar Lee, and Oli White were part of the line-up, and we didn’t anticipate that so many fans would come with gifts even though there was no guarantee of meeting them. We came up with a little gift of our own, which was really nothing more than a tiny post-it saying that we love them lmao (we went to the venue straight after school, hence Heather having school supplies HAHA). It was such a poor-looking gift. We went to their assistant who was SUPER nice about it and didn’t make us feel like shit for our gift which was pretty much worthless and could easily get lost – it was literally a piece of post-it. I doubt it ever got to them, but we gave it a shot anyway.
Are you ashamed of how you acted when you were younger? Some parts of it, definitely. I grew up in a violent household, so I was violent towards my brother when he was a baby, not knowing how serious my actions were. I was also a pain in the ass while I was going through puberty.
Do you ever have those days where you feel you're the ugliest person ever? Yes.
Beauty is both external and internal, correct? Sure.
Have you ever been in a musical? Yeah, in grade school through high school. Never had a solo role, though.
When was the last time you swam in a pool? July 2019.
Is there a friend's family that makes you feel like you're family too? Angela’s. At one point, Katreen’s too, before we grew apart.
How do you know someone is your best friend? When I don’t feel like filtering my words around them, and when I allow myself to be fully vulnerable with them.
When was the last time you used a highlighter? Sometime in February I’m guessing. Before the lockdown and when I still went to school and had readings.
Has a flashlight ever ran out batteries on you in the dark? I don’t think so.

Germany NT, 2010 World Cup away kit
Earlier this day Bayern has revealed its away kit for next season, the exact same colourway as the one above. Black and glossy gold. The last couple years have seen the preference for this combination trending in the football kit design, for example Barca away kit for this season and before that this combination has also been used on Liverpool goalkeeper jersey. But for me there’s no match for the one shown above. I’ve been introduced to football since 2010 wc and I’ve saw numerous football jerseys but to date, this one is still my favorite. It impressed me with its elegant simplicity. Plain but also clear, because the colors used correspond to those on the German flag so you know this kit is designed for the Germany NT without doubt. I’m glad they bring this design back for the upcoming Euro Cup.
And also, Thomas heading that goal against Argentina in the wc quarterfinal just made this kit ten times sexier so who knows, maybe my abiding love for this kit should be credited to baby Thomas.
Me and my highly questionable preference for certain football kits (5/?)
