western leftists' insistence to support hamas, revoke israelis of their humanity, and deny the recent rapid increase in antisemitism is just a mountain of evidence that those people simply don't bother caring about centering actual palestinians in their pro-palestinian activism (being annoying on twitter isn't really activism, but that's what they call it. so whatever). palestinians themselves have made it very clear that hamas is another evil in this conflict that has oppressed palestinians for years and will continue to do so at all costs, and leftists don't care. palestinians have said many times over that nobody is going anywhere, and that they and israelis both want a peaceful coexistance alongside each other, but that's ignored too. lately, plenty of jews have been discussing how leftists (are supposed to) believe that minorities are the experts on their own oppression-- with jews being the one exception, because jews dont count. but its interesting to watch this unfold in other ways, too, because unless a palestinian is the most angry, blood-hungry, violently vengeful person on the planet, who wants the total elimination of israel and diaspora jews alongside it, they get completely ignored. there's been a lot of talk lately about how much solidarity there is right now between jews/muslims and israelis/palestinians, given that these are the groups who are actually personally effected by this conflict, and its disheartening to see that abuse and negligence from the left is another shared trait. jews get ignored unless theyre doormats, palestinians get ignored unless theyre terrorist sympathizers. shame how that works out

Surgery on children with intersex variations is described as a human rights violation. Citing a UN report that equates these interventions to torture, the inquiry recommends laws be implemented to stop the possibility of conducting “irreversible, normalising genital surgery and involuntary sterilisation, which leads to suffering and stigmatisation.” However, when the inquiry refers to similar interventions on children it has named transgender, these are called a human right. The term is now ‘treatment’ and is “aimed at adjusting the body so that normal conditions are achieved.” This sounds oddly similar to the “normalising surgery” on intersex children condemned by the UN. The fact that surgery in this case is also irreversible and often leads to infertility no longer seems to be a concern. On the contrary, long waiting times for surgery are now cited as the main problem.
