Hello I would like to ask you which ryuseitai stories you’d recommend? I want to like them more but I don’t know them very well so I thought understanding them as a unit and as characters may help with my goal, have a lovely day!!

Hi Anon, thank you so much for the ask! I'm kind of honored you'd ask me about this actually... this got a bit long so I've put it under a read more cut, but under that I have written out what I'd recommend as a reading guide to Ryuseitai... keep in mind I wouldn't consider myself a definitive expert on this and a lot of my recommended stories/reading order is just opinion! But hopefully this helps you out ❤️ I've also included links to translations/notes on where to find stories.

So! The first story I'd start with for Ryuseitai is Supernova. This is just overall a good introduction to the unit, it shows off their respective characters and early dynamics with each other starting out really well IMO. This is also the Ryuseitai story the anime chooses to adapt so that sort of backs me up on this as an intro I suppose haha.

After that I'd recommend some of the other lighter event stories from ! era, like School Festival 4 or Sweet Halloween. School Festival 4 has a bit of everyone, like Supernova! It's just a fun read that again helps get a better read on the early Ryuseitai dynamics. Sweet Halloween is also a Ra*bits story and has some cute Hajime and Tomoya interactions, as a bonus if you like them, but on the Ryuseitai side it focuses largely on Chiaki. Ryuseitai as a unit benefits from having a dedicated translator for it, so I get to include links for basically every story here which is nice!

I'd also rec Orihime and Hikoboshi, which is Ryuseitai's Tanabata Festival story shared with Trickstar! It's got some really nice interactions with Shinobu and Mao (they are friends and it's sooo sweet), and some... tense but narratively interesting interactions between Midori and Subaru. And as a bonus, Chiaki and Kanata are not the focus here and don't show up for a lot of the story, but I think the interactions they do get in this story are very silly.

(I'd also recommend: Scroll of the Elements if you're enjoying Shinobu, which is a shared story with Akatsuki that focuses on him and Souma. Buddy is also a cute gacha story focusing on Chiaki, and Christmas Live is more a 2wink story than a Ryuseitai story, but has some cute moments for Ryuseitai in it, especially featuring Shinobu and Tetora's friendships with Yuta and Hinata respectively. You can get away with skipping these, though.)

Climax is Ryuseitai's Repayment Festival story, and is the second-to-last ! era story I'd say is "required reading" for them. This one focuses a lot on Midori, and is really important for his character development, but by the nature of being set before graduation it's got moments for everyone.

Lastly... Meteor Impact, the one everyone knows about because it's a bit famous in the fanbase. This one is a longer and heavier read than just about anything else I've recommended so far, as it's Ryuseitai's Reminiscence story focusing on Chiaki and Kanata during the War. It's important to read this last. It gets hyped up a lot, and people get excited for you to read it, but it loses a lot of its impact if you haven't read at least some other Ryuseitai stories first. Take your time with reading this one, it's got a lot in it and you'll want to be sure you can process all of it. If you're a fan of Akatsuki or Madara, they've also got some good moments in here.

(If you're liking Kanata after reading Meteor Impact, you can also read Aquarium and Comic World, which are both a bit lighter Kanata stories that just read a bit better with the context of that lore.)

MOVING ON TO !! ERA... and oh God this got long I'm so sorry we're only just now getting to this section... you will want to know what happens in the !! Main Story to proceed with Ryuseitai stories. If you haven't read this already, it is really hard to find any full fan translations of it online, but it's available to read for free in the ENGstars app.

Motor Show is the first event story in !! era for them, shared with Alkaloid. It establishes the status quo for Ryuseitai at the start of !! era, with the unit split into two sections: "Ryuseitai-M" led by Chiaki (the same format as before) and operating as ES idols, and "Ryuseitai-N" led by Tetora within Yumenosaki. Focuses on Tetora struggling with growing into his role as a leader of the unit.

After this is Comet Show, which is... a heavier one. This is Chiaki's center event, and establishes the main conflict that's going to continue throughout the next few !! era event stories. Ironically, despite being Chiaki's center, this also has some really standout Midori moments in it.

(If you're looking for something lighter to read before moving on to the next story, and you're a Midori fan, you can also read the Dollhouse gacha story. Chiaki's shuffle unit story, Date Plan, is also cute and expands on his friendship with Kaoru. I don't have a translation link for Date Plan, but it is available on ENGstars.)

Submarine is the shared SS arc story for Ryuseitai, paired with Akatsuki again! (Can you tell there's a lot of connections between these units...) It is very important to have read Meteor Impact and Comet Show before reading this or you'll be confused. I read this early and I didn't really understand it lmao.

This one isn't quite so plot important, but is actually more lighthearted unlike a lot of the other !! era Ryuseitai event stories so I recommend reading it, Ninja Clan is Shinobu's center event! It's a fun read. Shinobu I love you.

Next up is the Big One, Tetora's center, Supervillain, which features another major status quo change for the unit, some really good character development for Tetora my beloved, and resolution of the conflict that's spanned across Comet Show and Submarine.

After this the most recent event story is Tropical, Midori's center. It's fun and relaxing after Supervillain, and focuses on the unit adjusting to their new arrangement. Optionally, if you're a Kanata fan and liked Meteor Impact, there's also a recent lookback scout ABYSS dropped for him recently that focuses on his childhood with Madara and Souma.

I am. So sorry this got so long, but hopefully it helps as a reading guide for getting more into the unit!!

Gender headcanon: this may surprise people given how i'm talking in the rest of this list but TRANS GIRL. my trans yuta universe (yuuniverse?) lives rent free in my head she's so important to me i love her so much. i think it would just be a very cool conclusion to her search for identity arc and finally create a strong enough division between who is yuta and who is hinata that they'd both finally be able to fully realize themselves as individuals. however, as noted above in hinata's section, i also really can't stand misgendering the canon versions of characters, so you won't see me referring to yuta as a girl unless i am specifically talking about my trans headcanon.

A ship I have with said character: still nothing.....i think i am simply too invested in the twins' relationship with each other to have the headspace to think about shipping them with people. yuushino's pretty cute though!

A brotp I have with said character: i constantly wanna see more yuta and himeru interactions they both have the same similar sort of gentle polite vibe and also there's all the lovely Identity Issues

AH I ALMOST FORGOT TO ANSWER THIS. I was really tired and unwell when I got it and I wanted to write a proper answer so yknow. Hi, now that I can write one:

I absolutely adore the tetonaru dynamic! I got into enstars some time before Beasts first dropped, and back then I hadn't really thought about their dynamic a whole lot (especially bc... I was new to enstars lmao), but when that story first came out I started thinking about how interesting it was to put those two together, as the trans girl (at the time, a question mark) on a journey to self-love and the boy who wants nothing more than to become a man among men. Two people who are seemingly complete opposites in every way, especially in their desires and ideals, coming together at the end of the school year and exploring what it means to be who they are. Seeing Tetora in a skirt and wig I was... definitely shocked? And had no idea what to think of what the story would be like, but I did find it interesting. (continued under cut)

Then eventually, because I couldn't speak Japanese at the time to read it for myself, a translation of the story came out and it quickly became one of my favorite stories ever. I absolutely adore the way it was written and every single development that happened, both between the characters and in the story itself. Like I said before, at the time I wasn't sure whether Arashi was a trans girl or was just a... weird portrayal of an 'effeminate' boy, but this story really cemented that she is a trans girl, and it's the story I use as evidence of it all the time. Seeing Tetora learn about her and realize his mistakes? That was peak! It was also the start of a beautiful dynamic between the two of them, and it's one that I can't imagine going without now.

I just love the way their relationship started out so rough, with Tetora only having a surface-level knowledge of her and using that to praise her, not knowing that he was hurting her instead. In turn, Arashi thought he was annoying, and after being hurt by his words, decided to play a mean-spirited prank on him in return. Tetora may have looked up to her, but it was a misguided admiration, and Arashi wanted nothing more than for him to leave her alone. It's a very good representation of their characters in general - Tetora is quick to get attached to people he feels like he can look up to, and Arashi has struggled consistently with acting unfairly towards others based on her own personal annoyance etc. But then, things happened, and their relationship changed; they both had realizations about themselves and each other.

Madara told Tetora that Arashi is trans, and he realized how much he had been hurting her by calling her manly without even intending to, and he regretted his actions so much that he cried - something we never ever see him do otherwise - when apologizing to her. Even though he says he doesn't fully understand the way she feels, the way it is to be trans, he's still willing to respect and support her. He still sees her as the woman she is, and later refers to her as such when talking to Midori in the epilogue.

Arashi, on the other hand, thinks she may have put him in real danger by having him dress up as a girl, and then realizes how mean her prank was. When he apologizes so sincerely, even prostrating on the ground in dogeza, she realizes that he really meant no harm and was just being earnest. She gets upset at herself for being so mean, but forgives him for what he did, and it's a lesson in... not assuming the worst from others? Which is also really important imo, especially for Arashi, who always has. She even thinks she's just as bad as the people who have always hurt her for doing what she did.

The way their friendship has developed since that story is so special to me. Tetora saying he wants to embrace the more 'girly' parts of himself and that those can be manly strengths too is so important! And in the same way, he talks about wanting to turn his perceived weaknesses into strengths. Arashi, on the other hand, learned to love and accept both herself and others more, and again, not to assume malice where it may just be ignorance.

They both help each other improve as people and just... have become so important to each other? And that's so important to me. Watching them become such good friends, Tetora really respecting and treating Arashi like a girl and Arashi being respectful of Tetora's own wishes (he's one of the few people her age or younger that she doesn't use -chan for! Because he's expressed discomfort with it!), and the two of them hanging out together to do all sorts of things is just so cute and sweet to me. The fact that they became roommates in !! era was a dream come true for me. They both learn so much together and from each other, and their friendship is so cute.

I love seeing them do cute things together, seeing Arashi get Tetora modeling work, seeing Arashi teach Tetora about fashion and skincare (things he hadn't paid much attention to before, but now he's become so good at? He helped design the outfits for Nekketsu☆Ryusei Ninpouchou, he made suggestions for Kanata's second personalized outfit, Midori has commented on how fashionable he's gotten and several characters have commented on the condition of his skin and his use of perfumes), seeing them go shopping for accessories together (Tetora's recent 4* story destroyed me, hence the translation), seeing both of them think about and admire each other's growth... it's just been such good development for them, both as individuals and together.

Their friendship is just... so special to me. It's a story of forgiveness, of acceptance, of self-love, of respect for yourself and others, of realizing your mistakes and bettering yourself from them, of watching each other grow, and it's just plain cute. TetoNaru are just so so special to me. I don't think I even did it justice in all the words I've written here lmao. I apologize for the rant but I really care about them so much >.<

kind of on the topic, i think hiiai go on a lot of clothes shopping dates :) since both of them are still in an experimental stage w their gender expression (aira especially) (also because hiiro has no fashion sense) they go and pick out clothes that they think would look good on the other while getting to know what they like/don't like. i think they would find a lot of comfort in each other by being able to be so open about their identities as they are each others first person that they can relate to in such a way :)

Transmasc Tetora has my whole heart. Especaly considering he's in the same dorm as Arashi.

I currently write and take requests for the following fandoms: Ensemble Stars!!*

* I am primarily a Valk-P as well as an Eichi, Mayoi, and Natsume yume, but Enstars is a special interest and I have a basic understanding of most of the cast! However, I currently don't write for Tori, Koga, Shinobu, Aira, Tetora, or Jun.

I might write and take requests for, but will be picky and selective about the following fandoms: Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Project SEKAI/Vocaloid. I will announce if I am seeking specific fandom or group asks!

- Please limit your ask to 3 prompts maximum, as well as 3 characters maximum per ask. I write a lot so the more you ask for the longer it will take for me to complete <3 - If it's an alphabet/headcanon type, you can ask for an a-z of a specific character

- There isn't a requirement as to what to tell me about you, but the more you give me the better idea I get of your ideal matches. - If there's anyone you don't want to be considered, please tell me! yeas souma and kuro are both already answered here but additional akatsuki thoughts i can absolutely do (including keito)!!! who. well. honestly i didn't have any particular hcs i was set on for keito for a long time but your influence has made it like really hard for me to imagine anything other than trans guy keito. really big fan of both him and souma being trans and souma thinks that he's just like cis and rlly supportive like kuro is and then. all of a sudden keito's support and advice starts getting a little too specific and souma's like. "hasumi-dono are you by chance....????" (yes) (keito thought he already knew and that they were bonding over it). anyway these two combined with tetora i think it's rlly funny that kuro just attracts trans men. also keitos gay. kurokei real

Okay thanks for letting me know!! I don't remember much of what i said in the ask but i'll improvise, so please match me up for enstars!

I'm a trans nonbinary boy, i dont know much about mtbi or anything but my sun sign is a libra!! I have hobbies such as gaming, drawing, writing, and baking! I love aesthetics like kidcore and lovecore, and 'childish' things like cartoons and making kandi!

I've been pretty shy for my whole life, but recently thanks to therapy and my friends, I've come out my shell quite a bit! I'd like to say im a pretty kind person. I love my friends alot, though i can be pretty loud and immature around them some times, but this is mostly just to try and fit in and make them laugh. I have pretty low self confidence and often feel like i dont fit in, but i try and make up for it with humor. Fake it till you make it, y'know? I also tend to do some reckless stuff sometimes, mostly for the bit.

One extra thing: im also otherkin with werewolves, so if theres any characters like that it would be nice to know!

Oh Knights is absolutely overrated, not because their story or characters are bad, it just has an overwhelming amount of fancontent compared to a lot of other units. But I can't really say it's undeserved, because I feel like they have a very good story, charming characters, and more importantly a lot of conflict and development, compared to other units who almost exclusively seem to appear in fluffy stories with no focus on character development or plot (this is NOT Knights or the other units' fault — it's on the writing team! I want to know more about the other units but they won't let me!).

Since I have them listed in my about I'll do Ryuseitai and Knights!

• For Ryuseitai Chiaki and Tetora are both trans and gay (it's a Ryusei Red thing), Midori is non-binary and bi, Shinobu is a non-binary trans gay guy, and Kanata is gay too (though I never thought about Kanata's orientation that much, and probably neither has he, but he likes Chiaki so).

• For Knights Naru is canonically a trans girl + she's bi, Ritsu and Izumi are gay, Tsukasa is bi and Leo is a non-binary mlm!

No big unpopular opinions about them I think, I just dislike the two most popular (or almost most popular) ships from both units because of the age gaps and most content of my Ryusei fave is from one of those two ships. :( They're also both relationships that would be VERY interesting to explore and have so much depth and complexity and instead people turned them into something toxic and very bad for the two young characters who were already pushed by their appearance and their social position to act like adults... Oof
