Gaz x Sick! Reader Warnings: Brief mention of vomiting near the beginning (but that's it) SFW ~ Fluff! Pure comfort fluff!

───♡───────────── Beginning When you come down with a pretty bad cold, you are suffering. And Gaz hates seeing you like this. His lover was in pain, whimpering, too hot and then too cold, joints aching. It tears him apart seeing you like this.

He makes sure that you have all the stuff you need, want, and desire. Water, a hot beverage (tea, cocoa, hot lemon water, you name it, he’s already making it), a stuffed animal if you sleep with one, and all the pillows and blankets you could ask for. If you have long hair, he will tie it back to make sure it doesn’t cause you to overheat. If you end up throwing up for whatever reason, he will be right by your side. A bucket in hand if you couldn’t make it out of bed, a towel ready to clean up your mouth and chin once you’re finished, and a loving hand rubbing your back as he gently soothes you with his soft words.

“It’s okay, baby, it’s okay. You’re okay. Just a little flu, that’s all. I know it’s not fun, but it’s only temporary, love. You’ll get through it, I know you can…”

Will have throat lozenges right on the nightstand (in your favorite flavor, of course), next to a bottle of Tylenol and cough syrup. When you need a little spoonful of the syrup, he will have water right by him once you’ve finished swallowing the medicine. He knows how much you hate the stuff. Once you get the medicine down, he’s already got the cup of water ready at your lips so you can get the bitter, soapy flavor out of your mouth.

He’s also 100% willing to feed you while you’re sick. He’ll put on a show or a movie you like and he’ll just spoon-feed you whatever desired soup you asked him to pick up. You’d be tucked in, nice and safe, sitting up on a pile of pillows he had set up beforehand. He would also have a separate towel ready in case he accidentally spills a bit on your chin. When he sees that you’ve fallen asleep after finishing up the soup, he’ll close the curtains to the windows in your bedroom, turn down the volume on the T.V., and make sure that you’re as comfortable as possible before going into the kitchen and making dinner for you both.

This man would do anything in his power to heal you as fast as possible. If just looking at you causes him this much pain, he can only imagine how much it hurts you to have to deal with this sickness. ;0; ───♡───────────── End

but in mockingjay pt 1 (can’t remember if this line is in the books), peeta says: “First off, you have to understand that when you're in the game, you only get one wish. It's very costly.”

it’s so powerful because katniss’s original wish is just to keep her loved ones alive (why she volunteers for prim), and peeta’s is to never have the games/capitol change who he is fundamentally (the famous “I just don't want to be another piece in their game.”)

and at every turn in the narrative, the capitol denies them their original wishes. katniss’s family is threatened, gale is whipped near to death, peeta is thrown back into the games, her entire district is bombed, etc. and peeta gets hijacked, gets the indiscriminate kindness and wholehearted love he has for katniss stolen from him and replaced by hatred and fear.

but still at the end of the story, katniss and peeta help one another achieve those original wishes. they “grow back together” and heal from their trauma!! collins shows us that through love any pain can be overcome! which is a very fitting microcosm for the themes of the series as a whole!

I've read the original version of WWGATTAI and I was wondering why you later decided to have Pete sleep around during their "break up" or rocky patch. I think in the first version he just flirts with others but later tells Ice that he'd burst into flames if he actually slept with anyone else. Did you see it as cheating or did you see it as them being in a very real separation that both were aware of?

okay—that part of the story was the first part i ever wrote (besides the epilogue which was actually first) so i just didn’t know how it would play out, so there’s that—I didn’t think through the consequences of ice’s betrayal at ALL so that’s the whole reason why i went back and edited it

Secondly, (see here for another post about this), no, I don’t think of it as cheating. they weren’t in a relationship (like they Were but they also weren’t). they were in a situationship that got out of hand. if ice is jealous/butthurt about maverick sleeping around then he is coping & seething and should be made fun of

thirdly, mavericks an unrealistically handsome single guy in his early forties who may have just wasted the last decade of his life on a man who betrayed him/his family & basically dumped him & left him, so not unexpected that he would retaliate by sleeping with other people.

fourthly, as maverick says above, “it’s a distraction,” “[it’s someone who is] not you. I just can’t seem to shake you. I don’t know what else to do.” he feels like he is out of options & he himself is too cowardly to break things off with ice so he’s waiting for ice to break things off with him. him sleeping around = a.) satisfying a physical need that ice used to fulfill before he left b.) shopping around for other people c.) retaliating for ice’s betrayal d.) trying to provoke ice into breaking up with him e.) attempting to distract himself from how much he misses ice

Happy One Year Anniversary to the Thing That Changed My Life.

Writing Starfall has been the single best experience of my entire life. I've had dreams come true doing this, met amazing people who really enjoyed the story, and saw fanart of my ideas for the first time. All this came at a point in my life where I was at the lowest I had ever been, and this single piece of writing, this experience, kept me going, and kept me alive.

This single piece of writing made me realize I am really a writer, the thing I dreamed of being my entire life, and made me believe I can write everything I want, anything I want, made me expand my horizons and no longer fear people reading my work.

Though things have changed in the last year, and the faithful readers have dropped to just a few, I'm still in it for the long haul, Starfall, and I can't wait to see you until the end. I can deeply and very much say Starfall and GLTAS changed my life for the better, and I owe them so much.

If you talk to me about Starfall, if you have stuck in there this long, if you are still a fan, just know, I love you, and I would not be here if it weren't for you guys helping me push through in the beginning. You guys are flat out fucking AMAZING, and I love every single one of you into the depths of my soul, new readers and older readers, those that stuck around, and those that left.

Unrelated to anything but there's a house a bit away from where I live off a main road that I drive often and it's an adorable little house that flies a pride flag and I just... I REALLY fucking like that. I like driving by and seeing that and giving it a salute while it proudly billows in the wind cause these people are total strangers who I've never seen or spoken to but I drive by that flag and just seeing it makes me feel the sentiment of "You are not alone. There are many of us. We are proud" that flag is like a beacon to me every time I pass it by I smile. Thank you folks in that little house I love you.
