"JAMES FLEAMONT POTTER!" He could hear Sirius shouting from behind a closed door. After six years with this drama queen in one room, James got used to it. His best friend probably found out about Lily and Pandora and wants to make it look like a groundbreaking discovery.
As soon as the door to their dormitory opened, James set up a little straighter on his bed. "Hello, my favourite star," he said cheerfully.
The glare Sirius gave him caught him off guard. "Oh, am I now?" the shorter boy growled lowly. Behind him, James could see Remus and Peter looking like they were going to die from holding back their laughter.
"I'm confused. What's going on?" He adjusted his glasses nervously. He had an idea what it might be about, but he begged whoever was listening that it wasn't that.
In two fast strides, Sirius stood at the foot of his bed, grabbing the bedposts as if to break them. "Am I your favourite star?" the black-haired boy asked angrily. The two others gave in and started laughing hysterically from the door. Sirius didn't even give them a glance.
"Yes?" James answered, almost certain what was it about.
His best friend leaned towards him and, through gritted teeth, said, "I thought it would be my baby brother since you're apparently fucking him," which made James' eyes widen and his skin lose all its golden colour.
Oh, fuck.
They were very careful. How did he find out? And don't get them wrong, they were going to tell Sirius about their relationship; they really were, but they wanted to wait until Christmas to do it in the safety of their home.
"How- Who-?"
"Remus. Now, I'll give you a head start," Sirius said, and he immediately started counting from five. James ran out of the dormitory and across the common room as fast as he could. In a matter of seconds, he was in the corridor, sprinting to the nearest secret passage. He could hear the other boy close behind him, screaming something about incest and James being a brotherfucker.
Meanwhile, in their dormitory, none other than Regulus Black came out of the closet. He sat there for about an hour and a half, waiting to see what Remus had come up with in revenge for the latest prank he and James had pulled on him (yes, he was in on it now, but he did it out of love, so don't judge him). This idea was shit, honestly: James would simply be afraid to sleep in his own bed, and Regulus would face an irritating scolding from his brother. Nothing impressive.
When he dusted off his jumper and his boyfriend's roommates finally noticed him, their jaws went slack.
"Well," Remus started, after a minute of just looking at Regulus, "that would explain the reaction."

Lily Evans was your best friend. The two of you had been sorted into Gryffindor as muggleborn witches together and assigned the same dorm. The two of you did everything together, from studying in the library to braiding each others hair down by the Black Lake. Of course being that close meant you had to witness all of James Potter's attempts at winning your best friend over. One time you happened to alone on your way to class when James and the other 'Marauders' had stopped you, begging you for any tips on how to successfully ask Lily out.
"You've gotta let this go. She's way out of your league, you toerag." You had rolled your eyes at him, the boy gaping at your remark as you had always seemed pretty docile. Sirius Black — who you now notice was standing beside the bespectacled boy — barked out a laugh and applauded you, causing a warm feeling in your chest that you would never admit was because of him. Moreover, if James ever asked him to, Sirius wouldn't mind hanging out with you to get information on Lily (and not because he thought you were super cute).
Once James had successfully convinced Lily to date him, you and her had blended in well with the Marauders. When Lily and James would have their couple time, you would play chess with Peter and study with Remus in the common room. Sirius even let you join in on planning and performing their famous pranks (which did not jumpstart a crush on him or anything). The six of you had become your own little family, and when James had proposed to Lily after graduation it was no surprise who the groomsmen and maid of honor would be.
Meanwhile you had also fallen in love with Sirius Black during your time at Hogwarts, and the two of you had become attached at the hip. Sirius would walk with you to class, and you'd spend nights in the astronomy tower talking about the future.
You were each other's safe space, and Sirius loved you so deeply, which led to a lot of heartbreak the the night Lily and James were killed and your boyfriend was sent to Azkaban for the rest of his life for being the one who did it. You spent the next twelve years working under the Department of Magical Law enforcement as an investigator, trying to convince the Ministry that Sirius would never in a million years do anything to hurt his friend, much less kill him and his wife. They ignored you, dismissing your claims as a fit of hysteria, weaponizing your grief against you. You had been nonstop trying to figure out what exactly happened that night, regularly exchanging letters with Remus until he sent his final one, asking you to refrain from sending any more, as he felt too betrayed by Sirius to hear any of your theories.
The moment Peter had been revealed as the true murderer, Remus had come by your flat to apologize in person, the two of you reconciling over tea and teary hugs. When Sirius finally came back things were slow to return to "normal", but the two of you were just as in love with each other as you were back at Hogwarts. Because of his current situation with the Ministry, you moved in with him at 12 Grimmauld Place, then agreeing immediately when Dumbledore had come to the two of you about reassembling the Order of the Phoenix.
Tumblr media
"You're a cheater Sirius Black, I don't want to play anymore." You huffed, standing up and throwing the playing cards down on the coffee table. The two of you were playing cards on the couch in Grimmauld place, trying to have a relaxing night amidst the recent chaos. Sirius cooed and pulled you down to sit on his lap, wrapping his arms around your waist and pressing sweet kisses to your shoulder. "Oh you'll survive, Mrs. Black."
The name alone caused you to melt into him, but the way he was looking at you in that moment made you feel like a teenager again, shy and in love with the boy before you. "Mrs. Black? We're not even engaged, love."
He grabbed your left hand, his thumb running over your ring finger, his voice becoming as soft as his touch. "It's coming, darling, don't you worry."
Your future mother-in-law screeched in horror from her place on the wall. "The most ancient and noble House of Black will not be accepting of a revolting mudblood! Must keep the blood pure, toujous pur!"
"I like to think I've been patient enough." you teased, gesturing to where his mother's portrait hung, the crazy bitch still muttering nonsense to herself.
Sirius sighed and lightly squeezed your hip. "I know m'love, you've been too good to me. Once things blow over a bit, I promise we'll get back to how things used to be, yeah?"
You hummed, brushing the hair out of his face and kissing his forehead. "No need to rush, we've got the rest of our lives, Sirius."
The fireplace suddenly lights up green as Severus comes through, his lip curling on one side as he saw the position you two were in and moved his gaze to somewhere else in the room.
"Severus," Sirius clicked his tongue, cocking his head to the side. "to what do we owe this pleasure?"
"The Dark Lord," his eyes met yours, then shifted to settle on Sirius. "seems to have put an idea in Mr. Potter's head that you were being tortured at the Ministry. He's on his way there to look for you, you are to alert the Order."
You and Sirius stood immediately, thanking Severus as he disappeared again and sending your patronus' to the other Order members. They arrive quickly and the six of you head to the Ministry and apparate down to the lower level chambers, wands at the ready.
Kingsley and Alastor moved towards one group of Death Eaters, with Remus and Tonks on the defense. "Harry, where's Harry?" you were frantic looking for your godson, Sirius right beside you. You find him in combat with Dolohov, rushing to his side just as he hit the dark wizard with a Full Body Bind curse.
"Nice one, Haz!" Sirius praised from a few feet away. Harry beamed at you and you smiled and squeezed his shoulder quickly before heading back over to Sirius.
The chamber was complete chaos, the dark walls lighting up with flashes of all colors, all kinds of hexes and jinxes were being thrown around. You had to admit, Harry and the other students were great at duelling and really kept up with the Order members. Out of the corner of your eye you see your beloved's deranged cousin, her wand locked onto Sirius. Her wand glowed green as she shouted out an unforgivable spell.
You turn around to see him just a few feet from the Veil. "Sirius!" you gasp, immediately casting 'Accio' to pull him out of Bellatrix's way, his hands gripping your waist to steady himself, eyes blown out in shock. You both are staring at each other, eyes watery and chests heaving.
"Too fucking good to me, darling."
Your moment was interrupted by a screeching Bellatrix, sending a 'Confringo' your way. You managed to dodge it but the spell caught the sleeve of Sirius' coat.
"Don't you fucking dare!" you growled, shooting multiple stunning spells at her which she annoyingly kept deflecting. She laughed maniacally as you circled each other, casting spells left and right. The dark witch then shot another spell at Sirius, effectively hitting him in the back then grinning madly at you, "Whoopsie!"
Your heartbeat picked up as you realized where she was standing. You quickly scanned the chamber and it seemed that most of the Death Eaters had fled or been taken down. You'd never killed anyone before, but she was one of Voldemort's strongest followers. Not only that, but she tried to attack your Sirius not just once, not twice, but three times. Your eyes widened as you saw her prepare another curse on him.
"Not my boyfriend, you bitch!"
You cast 'Depulso', throwing her back a few feet into the Veil, immediately sending her into the world of the dead. You stood there frozen, your wand still pointed where Bellatrix once stood. Sirius pulled you back into his arms, whispering "thank you"s and "i love you"s into your ear.
Harry had appeared next as the battle ended, joining in your group hug, the three of you holding each other tight. You kissed the top of your godson's head, no longer unable to hold back your tears.
Harry had come home with you and Sirius that night, having some dinner and then going upstairs to stay in one of the spare rooms. Sirius held you close in bed that night, thanking you once again for saving him. You smiled and squeezed his hand, thanking him for coming back to you all those years ago. You fell asleep that night unaware of the sparkling diamond that was hidden in Sirius' nightstand.

Hey you!

🤢
Hi lifeandlies!!! 🫶 so excited to discusssss!
😍 favorite fic trope has got to be “protective!Sirius finds out Regulus and James are sleeping together.” Sirius always gets over it and supports in the end, but I love that initial “HOW FUCKING DARE YOU?? THAT’S MY BABY BROTHER, POTTER!!! 😡😡😡” moment. It’s just so over-the-top, overprotective, and dramatic—just like Sirius!
👿 the trope I hate: James and Regulus are together, but then something something they’re on a break, and James sleeps with Lily, getting her pregnant, so now Regulus is devastated and James is going to be a father. Ugh, kill me now. I like Lily, but I don’t enjoy having her pregnancy being a device to create conflict, angst, and drama for Regulus. It just pisses me off and gets me angry with James. Not my cup of tea 🍵
💡 head canon: when Regulus decides that it’s time for James to tell Sirius about them, James is really cagy about it. He doesn’t want to upset Sirius, but he realllly doesn’t want to upset Regulus. To give James a bit of motivation, Regulus starts flirting with random boys at Hogwarts, who are very into him and flirt back. James is fighting for his life on sheer jealousy. This is my truth ✊
🌍 my dream AU: I love a good Omegaverse! I want to see clever, gorgeous, vicious omega!Regulus with whipped, golden retriever alpha!James wrapped around his little finger. But holy shit, your beta!Regulus snippet? I was sentttt! I’d read that all day and all night, stg. Meanwhile, Sirius is just standing in the corner all grumpy with an amused Remus like “no one’s good enough for my little brother 😠 *mumbling* but I guess James isn’t the worst choice either…” oh, and then Regulus getting absolutely railed by James and loving it, plus huge breeding kink there. Option 1: Regulus begging for James to cum inside him to get him pregnant, option 2: James teasing Regulus that if he doesn’t pull out, Regulus is going to have his baby. All consensual 🫶 I feel like you would write an amazing version of that based on this masterpiece and this genius, as would @rottin6 based on this piece of gold, which keeps me up at night.
🤢 NoTP: wellll, I don’t actively despise any particular pairing, but I guess Prongsfoot isn’t for me. In general, I lean away from straight pairings. But I’m only a hater on defense 🫶
Love u for the asks, @lifeandlies-of-regulusblack !! ❤️❤️❤️🫶🫶🫶

Okay but like James and Sirius would 100% pretend to be Michael and Sonny Corleone from the Godfather because those two are addicted to the movie. Meanwhile, Remus would absolutely loathe them doing this because he’d rather binge Star Wars with Lily again then play pretend Vito Corleone because Sirius begged with then puppy dog eyes again. Not kidding though, he went dog form to use those big eyes.

Keeping the Faith part 2

“Hey, Lupin, you looked good out there this morning!” Caradoc Dearborn called from across the hallway. “We got this season in the bag.”
The boy in question was standing at his locker gathering textbooks but looked up at the mention of his name. “I was just throwing some balls around, Dearborn.”
Caradoc’s face split in a grin. “Exactly, Wolfman! You didn’t miss a single shot, not even when Coach started blocking you. You’re gonna win this season for us!”
Remus blushed. “I don’t know about that.”
Fortunately, that’s when James, Sirius, Marlene, and Lily finally turned up. Remus had long ago stopped wondering where Peter went during the school day.
James said, “Moons! Just the man I wanted to see.” He pointed to Sirius. “Tell this idiot ‘Welcome to Duloc’ from Shrek is better than ‘Fearless Hero’ from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.”
Remus raised an eyebrow at Lily and Marlene who gave him pleading eyes. “They did this the whole ride here,” Lily said.
“She says, as if she didn’t argue the whole way here on the wrong side,” Sirius said.
She grabbed a lock of red hair. “You’re just too stubborn to see that we’re right,” she responded, crossing her arms.
Sirius put his hands on his hips. “Marlene disagrees with you.”
Marlene glanced up from her phone as they all looked at her. “I honestly don’t care,” the blond said. “I just wanted to argue with James.”
“Well, good for you, because he’s wrong,” Sirius said. “‘Fearless Hero’ is deep and it’s not sung by children.”
James whipped his head around and stared at Sirius. “Just because the Duloc song is sung by children doesn’t make it bad! It adds an air of innocence to Shrek that Puss in Boots lacks.”
Lily looked at Remus again, desperate. “Do something,” she begged.
Remus glanced between James, trying to gauge how important this argument was to him. He raised his voice, making sure he was audible on Sirius’ bad side. “Sirius is right.”
“Ha! I knew it!” Sirius said. “Thank you, Moony, you’re clearly a man of taste.”
James threw his hands up in the air. “No taste, or culture, either of you,” he declared. “Shrek is a fundamental film that teaches people they don’t have to be pretty or normal to be loved, and the Duloc song is a metaphor for the dangers of conformity. Plus, Shrek is way better than Puss in Boots.”
Remus turned to him. “But it doesn’t matter how good the movie is; you’re arguing about the song.” James opened his mouth, but Remus held up a hand. “It’s true that Shrek is better and more fundamental, but the Duloc song is just a short introduction to Duloc itself which is the actual metaphor for conformity. The song is only part of the overall symbolism. Meanwhile, ‘Fearless Hero’ is a recurring motif that at first represents Puss’ hubris, then becomes a symbol for everything he’s actually afraid of which pushes the theme bravery isn’t the absence of fear but the pushing on in spite of it.” Something he knew dearly.
The others gaped for a moment until Marlene said, “Sorry, James, I can’t argue with that. I’m going to class.” She turned on her heel and walked away.
Sirius smirked. “What do you think now, Mr. Duloc?”
James set his jaw. “I stand with Shrek.”
Sirius rolled his eyes. “Stubborn.”
The warning bell rang, signaling an end to their riveting conversation.
As they all turned to go to their first hours, Remus happened to catch a glimpse of Severus Snape hurriedly turning away from Remus and his friends, as if he had been eavesdropping.
Well, Remus thought, I hope he enjoyed our detailed analyses of childrens’ movies.
-
Marlene glided into her first hour, immediately making a beeline for her usual desk by the window. She smiled when she saw the seat behind hers was already occupied by its usual patron.
Sitting backwards in the chair, she softly whispered, “Hey, babe,” in the most seductive voice she could muster.
It had the desired effect. Dorcas jumped about a foot in the air, and her book slammed shut. “What the hell, Marlene?”
“Hi!” she said brightly.
Dorcas wasn’t having it. "You made me lose my page," she complained.
"Such is the price of love," Marlene said. Then, just because Dorcas looked so sad, she added, "You're on page 232."
Dorcas smiled. "Now I'll say 'hello'." God, she was amazing. Marlene still couldn’t believe how lucky she was.
If anyone had told her six months ago that she would end up in a secret relationship with Dorcas Meadowes, she would've laughed in their face. See, Marlene and Dorcas were not exactly a classic match. Marlene was an athlete, a senior, and a psychic. Dorcas was a nerd, a junior, and definitely not a psychic. They were also each friends with a different Black brother, and that was not a gap either girl was willing to bridge. However, when Marlene had crashed into the library one August morning frantically looking for a book on STDs (not for her; she was trying to win an argument with Remus, but it turned out she was wrong), they had had a hard time forgetting each other. A week later, Marlene returned her book along with a piece of paper she had scrawled her phone number on. They've been together since.
"What are you reading?" asked Marlene.
"Red, White, and Royal Blue," Dorcas answered. Quickly, she put her bookmark in page 232.
"I think I've seen Remus with that one," Marlene noted.
"Probably, it's pretty popular." She looked up and cringed. "Incoming."
Marlene turned her head to see none other than Severus Snape walking toward them. "What do you want, asshole?" she asked him, already turning her head away. While she didn't used to hate the boy (at least not as much), she certainly never liked him, and after what he'd done to Lily, she couldn't very well be nice to him.
His face twitched. "You know exactly what I want," he said, eyes hard.
"Well, you can forget it," Marlene told him. "I'd rather have my eyes clawed out by your weirdly long nails than let you talk to Lily." She smirked when he hid his hands behind his back.
"I'd think you'd be more averse to people knowing about your relationship," he said smugly. Well, fuck.
Before Marlene could yell at him, Dorcas said, "What are you talking about, Severus?"
“If you don’t get Lily to talk to me, I’ll tell everyone you’re dating,” he said.
Dorcas didn't bat an eye. “We’re not dating.”
He frowned, probably not expecting pushback. "Yes, you are."
Dorcas’ eyes flashed. "No, we're not."
He huffed. “I have proof!” he said finally, pulling his phone out of his front pocket.
Marlene stiffened, her already terrible opinion of the boy in front of her plummeting, because, seriously, what the fuck? He had fucking proof? What, had he been stalking them? Was that the level he was stooping to now?
Apparently, because when he turned his phone around, it was to reveal a grainy picture of Marlene and Dorcas kissing behind the practice field.
Marlene couldn’t hold herself back any longer. “What the hell is wrong with you?” she exclaimed, disgusted and a little bit scared.
“That’s what I thought you’d say.” He got that smug look back on his face. “And, because I’m so nice, I’ll also throw in some interesting information about the Death Eaters that involves your friend Sirius,” he said, contempt dripping from just the mention of Sirius’ name.
And, okay, that one wasn’t so tempting because Sirius’ business was Sirius’ business, but, stalking? For blackmail? Really??
Of course, that’s when Professor Sprout walked into the classroom with a cheery, “Good morning! Everyone, put your phones away.” Everyone continued to stare at their phones.
“You have until the end of school to decide,” Snape said and walked away to his desk.
Marlene ground her teeth and turned to Dorcas, meeting her fear-filled brown eyes with her own wide blue ones. “What are we going to do?” she asked, panicking.
Dorcas took a deep breath, visibly calming herself. “Okay.” She took another breath. “Okay, here’s what we’re going to do.” Marlene waited a few seconds for her to finish her thought, but it quickly became apparent she was waiting in vain.
Marlene felt her face twitch. “Yeah, babe, let’s try that!”
“I don’t see you coming up with any brilliant ideas! Dorcas whispered harshly.
“You’re not either!” she hissed back.
Suddenly, they were left blinking as the room was plunged into near darkness. “Alright, we’re going to watch a movie today.” They all cheered, and, failing to shush them, Sprout waited patiently for them to be done. “I really think you’ll like this one! It’s a documentary on Charles Darwin!” Several people - including Marlene - discreetly took their phones back out.
Marlene hastily shot a text off to Dorcas, though whether she would actually look at it or not was honestly up in the air. She was about as likely to play on her phone during a mandatory documentary as she was to actually watch it, the nerd. Marlene loved her so much.
Anyway, she needn’t have worried. About 30 seconds after she sent the text, her phone lit up with a new text from Dorcas.
Marlene: cas
Dorcas: i have a plan
Marlene: let’s hear it
Marlene heard a rustle and glanced up. She relaxed, relieved to see it was only Sprout pulling out her own phone. Free hour, wooooooooh. Or so the kids say.
She looked back down.
Dorcas: i think we should tell everybody we’re dating
Marlene choked.
Marlene: what
Marlene: you wanna what
Dorcas: it’s not that i want to, it’s just that if we tell them, he has nothing
Dorcas: i mean, how big a deal is it actually?
Marlene: it’s a big deal! sirius will kill me! regulus will kill you! then we’ll be separated, you in heaven, me in hell!
Dorcas: why would you be in hell??
Marlene: i don’t want to talk about it
Dorcas: alrighty then
Dorcas: i really think we should tell them
Marlene: there’s gotta be another option
Dorcas: not that we can figure out in six hours
Dorcas: listen, it’s been two months now, we’re going strong, and our friends love us (and aren’t maniacs). they might be a little mad, but they’ll get over it, and then snape will have nothing
Dorcas: also we have to do it at lunch because i have academic team and you have football tonight
Dorcas: and it has to be separately because i do not trust reg and sirius at the same table
Marlene: fine
Marlene: but when they hate us and we have to escape to the seaside to live out our lesbian cottagecore life, just know, it was your fault
Dorcas: noted
Dorcas: now stop texting me, i wanna watch the movie
Marlene smiled at her girlfriend’s words, somehow reassured. Because if Dorcas could be calm about this, then surely it would be ok.
She hoped that sounded better out loud than it did in her head.

When Remus walked into third hour AP English Lit, it was to see that James and Sirius were already there, sitting at their usual table and whispering harshly to each other.
They were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn’t notice Remus walking toward them until he pulled a chair out, and its legs scraped the ground. Sirius’ head shot up, but James hurriedly finished his sentence, talking a bit louder since he was now facing Sirius’ bad ear. “I just want you to think about it.”
Remus looked at them. “What are we thinking about?” he asked, sitting down.
“Nothing,” Sirius said quickly, ignoring James. “How was-” he hesitated “-anatomy?”
Remus looked at him, slightly concerned. “We have anatomy together, Pads.” He paused. “In seventh hour.”
James snorted, and Sirius continued to ignore him. “Spanish?” he guessed.
“Nope.”
“Calc?”
“Try again.”
“APUSH?”
“Pads, you have both of those with me.”
“Stop laughing at me, James! Creative writing.”
“There you go!” Remus said, though he thought it odd that Sirius had managed to guess his classes in exact backwards order, leaving out study hall and the class they were currently in. “It was fine, to answer your question.”
Just then, Lily sat down. “Hello, boys!” she said cheerfully. “I sense sexual tension,” she singsonged.
James fucking giggled. “You’d be right,” he said.
“She is not!” Remus said at the same time Sirius said, “Fuck off, loser!”
Thankfully, that’s when Marlene finally walked in. Shockingly, the college level literature class wasn’t very popular at their school, so third hour was the only one available. Their little group made up about a fourth of the overall class. This was also true in AP Calculus and AP US History, except there were even less people in those classes. “Hey, Marls,” Lily greeted.
She muttered unintelligible, and they all glanced at each other, their expressions all some variation of the fuck? James spoke up. “Everything alright?”
She stiffened, as if just realizing where she was. “Yeah, um, I just,” she took a breath, gathering her thoughts. “I need to tell you guys something at lunch.”
They looked at each other again. That didn’t sound good. This time, Lily asked, “Is it…bad?”
She smiled sadly and looked blankly across the room, around the table where Dorcas Meadowes, Emmeline Vance, and Mary MacDonald were sitting. “I guess we’ll see.”
Before they could ask anymore questions, Professor McGonagall called them all to attention. Now there was a teacher they listened to.
“Good morning, class.” She waited a moment until they said it back. “Before we get started, I want to talk about a new assignment.” Remus shifted in his seat, already preparing for several sleepless nights. Lit homework was no joke, especially on his schedule.
McGonagall continued, her tight brown bun bobbing on her head. “It will be a partner presentation over theme.” She waited for them to be done looking at each other as everyone automatically turned to their friends. Remus was lucky, in this regard. He and Lily had been teaming up for group projects since kindergarten.
“You may choose your partner, and you may choose any work of fiction to analyze. Any questions?” A dozen hands shot up. “Yes, any work of fiction means movies, TV, music, poetry, video games, even a TV commercial, though I do not recommend that route. Yes, Mr. Lupin?”
“When is it due?” he asked. He wasn’t particularly worried about the actual project as it seemed pretty tame compared to what they normally did in this class, but if the presentation was due in two days, it didn’t matter how difficult it was.
“Two weeks.” He nodded and wrote down the due date. “Is that all?” When no one raised their hands, she said, “The rest of today’s class time will be used to decide your partners and give you a head start on your project. Once you’ve gotten your partners and chosen your work of fiction, come tell me and take a rubric.” She turned to go back to her desk, but paused. “Oh, and it is first come, first serve, so no duplicate topics.”
Before she had even sat down, James turned to Sirius, a look of pure, frenzied excitement in his eyes. However, he was cut off by Sirius, who said, “No, James, absolutely not.”
James wasn’t deterred in the slightest. “Shrek!”
Sirius shook his head. “No, we are not doing our presentation over Shrek,” he said tiredly. “I have done enough projects over Shrek with you.”
Remus and Lily just looked at each other, both trying not to laugh. Sirius was right, though. The two of them had done many projects on the movie over the years, and Remus had been roped into several of them.
“Here’s an idea,” Lily interjected. “How about we revisit this morning’s argument? James and I can do Shrek, and you two can do the second Puss in Boots?” she proposed. “Whoever gets the better grade wins.”
James’ eyes were wide at the prospect of Lily willingly spending alone time with him. Though the two had made up over a year ago, Lily still mostly stuck to Remus or Marlene, and James by consequence generally hung out with Sirius, Peter, and Remus. James wisely didn’t comment on it, though his eyes were gleaming behind his glasses.
Remus turned to Sirius, who shrugged. “I’m okay with it if you’re okay with it.”
James clapped his hands. “Awesome! We’re going to crush you.”
Sirius scoffed. “Please. Didn’t you hear Moony’s speech this morning? You’re going down.”
As they all stood to claim their topics with Professor McGonagall, Remus looked around, trying to make sure Marlene had found a partner. He wasn’t all that worried. She was friendly with almost everyone in their class, except Snape and maybe Dorcas Meadowes, the junior who was friends with Sirius’ estranged little brother.
Except, when he finally found her, she was sitting right next to Dorcas. Huh.
-
One hour later, the five of them were sitting at their usual lunch table in the back corner of the cafeteria, Sirius in between James and Remus and Lily and Marlene opposite them at the circular table.
Sirius chewed slowly. He’d been wondering what could have possibly happened to Marlene between getting to school and third hour but had come up with nothing. The best he could figure was a bad grade, but that wouldn’t have made Marlene catatonic like this or require a meeting. Whatever it was had to be big.
They’d been sitting in relative silence for about ten minutes, only broken up by the occasional comment or chewing noise. Finally, Lily looked at the blond. “You said you have news?” she asked nervously, stroking a lock of red hair.
Marlene winced. “Indeed.” She blew out a breath. “I’m dating someone.”
They all perked up, and Remus made a noise of understanding. Sirius glanced at him, a question in his eyes, but the tawny haired boy shook his head, curls bouncing.
“That’s great, Marls,” Lily said excitedly. “Who is it?”
James waved his fork. “Wait, I’m confused,” he said. “Why all the dramatics? Is it someone we don’t like?”
Marlene’s face screwed up in a grimace. “It’s Dorcas Meadowes.”
Sirius’ blood went cold. He must have heard her wrong, must have turned his bad ear toward her at the wrong moment, because Dorcas was best friends with Regulus, and if Marlene was dating Dorcas, then Sirius was only one degree of separation away from the worst part of his life. Somehow, he managed to stutter out a question. “The-the one who’s f-friends with-”
She nodded. “That’s the one.” Next to him, James’ eyes were wide, and Lily’s jaw had dropped. Remus was the only one who didn’t look shocked.
Lily cleared her throat. “So how did this happen?” Sirius didn’t hear Marlene’s response, having zoned out completely. He was vaguely aware of James and Remus sending him looks of concern, but he couldn’t think of anything besides Regulus Regulus Regulus.
His brother hadn’t left Sirius’ mind a single time since he had run away over a year ago, nor had the guilt he felt at leaving Regulus alone with their parents. No matter how many times he told himself he’d had no other choice, that he would have died or Walburga and Orion would have literally thrown him out on his ass if he’d stayed even a day longer, he couldn’t stop himself from thinking about his baby brother, defenseless in the face of their parents. Nothing chased the guilt away, not even thinking of the two hazy weeks he’d spent in the hospital following his disownment or having to ask someone to repeat something because they’d been talking into his bad ear. More often than not, he’d wake in the middle of the night, soaked with sweat, shaking from nightmares built from years of abuse.
It was enough to drive a person insane.
Unhearing what the others were saying, Sirius forcefully dragged himself back to reality just enough to ask the question that had been on his mind for what felt like forever. “Do you know if Regulus is okay?” he asked, barely breathing.
The table went quiet again, but Sirius was laser-focused on Marlene. Her expression softened. “The only thing Dorcas would tell me is that he doesn’t blame you for what happened, and that she doesn’t think they’re hurting him,” she said, as gently as possible.
His breath rushed out of him all at once, not relieved in the slightest. He closed his eyes, suddenly consumed by the thought of Regulus lying, lying to his friends to hide his pain, the way Sirius had for 14 years-
A warm squeeze on his hand pulled him abruptly back into his body, and he looked down at the seat where his fingers were resting on the curved bench. There was another, much larger hand encompassing his, squeezing it, rubbing his wrist with the thumb, and he followed the arm with his eyes, up the broad shoulder, then the scarred, tan neck, two pink lips, a small, freckled nose, until he was looking into the amber eyes of Remus Lupin.
As his ears started working again, Sirius became aware of his ragged breathing and Remus’ gentle murmurs of, “Breathe, Sirius.” And - he tried, he really did, but-
“What if she’s wrong?” he choked out, barely understandable to his own ears.
Thankfully, Remus got the gist of it. “Dorcas is smart, and she knows your brother well. She wouldn’t say he’s fine if she wasn’t sure.”
“B-but-” he stuttered, unable to force anymore words out.
Remus squeezed his hand harder. “Breathe.” He turned. “Here,” he said, putting something cold in Sirius’ other hand. “Careful, I already opened it.”
Sirius looked down on his other side, trying to figure out what ‘it’ was; it turned out to be an uncapped water bottle, filled all the way up with cold, clear liquid. He slowly raised it to his dry lips and took a sip.
It tasted amazing. He quickly gulped down the rest of it, only stopping once it was empty.
He whined when Remus took the bottle from him. “It’s all gone, Pads,” he chuckled. “Better?” Sirius nodded, cheeks flushed with embarrassment at having a panic attack in the middle of the school cafeteria. Nevertheless, Remus smiled. “Good.”
Sirius turned his head, not wanting Remus to see how much darker red his face was getting at receiving Remus’ approval. On the other side of the table, James was teasing Marlene about how smitten she was while Lily chimed in. Sirius smiled, recognizing it for the distraction it was. He would have to thank James and Remus later.
Then, seeing Sirius was back to normal, if a bit shaky, James asked Marlene, “So, why tell us now?”
Marlene’s face fell, and she gulped. “Snape. He came up to Dorcas and me in bio and basically said if we didn’t help him get with Lily, he would out us to the school. We decided we’d rather just tell people than let him hold this over us.” That made sense. Marlene had been publicly out for years, so the biggest news for everybody else would be that she was dating a nerdy underclassman. Sirius didn’t know enough about Dorcas to confidently say how much she would be affected. Then, quieter, she said, “He had pictures.”
“He had what?” Lily exclaimed. Then, not waiting for an answer, she stood up, crossed the lunch room to Snape’s table, snatched his phone out of his hand, and announced loudly enough that Sirius could hear her from across the room, “You’ll get this back when you learn to use it properly.”
She traipsed back their table, a smug look on her face.
Remus frowned. “Aren’t you afraid he’ll to tell Dumbledore?” The man behind the school, Dumbledore served as principal and thus presided over punishments. However, he was also rumored to be slightly insane, and it was really a matter of chance whether he would actually issue punishment for a stolen phone or just send Lily off with a, “Congratulations on tricking your classmate, Miss Evans.”
Lily scoffed. “Please. Severus is so sexist, he’ll never admit to having his phone stolen by a girl.” She then did something on the phone that Sirius couldn’t see, but whatever it was must’ve been successful because she lit up. “Ha! I guessed his passcode on the first try.”
“What was it?” James snickered.
“My birthday,” Lily said judgmentally. “That boy has got to get over me.”
“Yeah,” agreed Sirius. “That’s pretty pathetic.” He ignored the knowing look James sent his way.
Finally, their disastrous lunch period came to a close when the bell rang.
“Oh! One more thing,” Marlene said before they could leave. “Snape also said he knew something about Sirius and the Death Eaters, but wouldn’t tell us anything else if we didn’t take the deal.” She turned to Sirius. “Do you know anything about that?”
He shook his head. “No idea,” he lied.
Rain pelted the walkway as Lily and Marlene ran up the steps of 300 Fox Way. The sudden downpour had caused football practice to be canceled, so James and Sirius had dropped Lily and Marlene off in the Pig before heading back to the school to bother Remus during open gym. Well, officially, they were there for moral support and basketball, but Lily knew the truth.
As soon as they stepped inside, Lily’s mother came barrelling through the foyer. “Petunia just called, said she needs my help with wedding stuff right this second, and I’m already late. There’s a guy coming for a palm and tarot reading, can you handle it?”
“Sure-”
“Thanks, bye!” And with that, she left.
Lily and Marlene just stood there until Marlene finally said, “Alright, I’ll get the room ready-”
“Oh my god.” Lily felt more than saw Marlene’s head whipped around, panicking at the tension in her voice.
“What, what is it?” Marlene asked.
Lily just pointed. There, on the steps of the building, stood Abraxas Malfoy.
“Oh god, what do we do?” Marlene asked frantically. He knocked. “Fuck!”
“That can’t be the guy mom meant,” Lily whispered frantically. “He’s evil!” Why would Malfoy come here, of all places, when he was trying to shut down their restaurant?
Marlene shrugged, eyes wide. “Don’t you think I know that?” She put a hand on her forehead, fingers tangling in her hair. “Maybe he’s just trying a new tactic?” she guessed.
He knocked again. “Hello? Are you still open?”
“Oh god oh god oh god,” Lily muttered, head in her hands.
Marlene opened the door. “Hello, and welcome to 300 Fox Way Psyche. My Aunt says you’re here for a tarot and palm reading?”
“Yes, and-oh,” he stopped, catching sight of Lily. “I didn’t realize you worked here.” He sniffed. “No matter. I am indeed here for a tarot and palm reading.”
Lily stayed silent, not trusting herself to speak. Thankfully, Marlene continued to take the lead. “Alright, we’ll be just in here. Now, give us just a minute to prepare everything.” She deposited him in the reading room and turned back to Lily.
“I need you to do the tarot reading,” she whispered.
“Why?” Lily looked at her quizzically. Marlene usually wanted to deal with tarot readings because she was particularly prone to visions via touch, so it was very strange that she was wanting to do a palm reading.
Marlene wrung her hands. “I just have a feeling there’s something important I need to See.”
Lily nodded. “Okay, I’ll do the cards.”
As they walked into the reading room, Lily made sure to grab a deck of cards from one of the shelves lining the red walls. She sat down across from Abraxas at the far end of the long, wood table.
“Shuffle these please,” Lily said and handed the cards to Abraxas. She hoped he didn’t notice that she could barely look at him.
Once the cards had been shuffled, Lily spread them out in a neat line. “Pick a card.”
“How do I know which card to pick?” he asked, eyebrows pinched together.
Lily resisted the urge to tell him to screw himself. “Just choose the one you feel most drawn to. It might have a warm or cold feeling.”
Slowly, he roved a hand over the cards, eventually landing on one in the middle right.
Lily flipped the card over to reveal an upside down blindfolded woman holding two crossed swords. Reversed Two of Aces.
“What does that mean?” Malfoy asked.
Lily sighed. “You’re facing a difficult decision, and neither path is particularly enticing. You feel you don’t have enough information to make a decent decision, or maybe there’s too much information. You need to take a step back and look at the situation from another angle. You may also need to reassess whether this decision is even yours to make.”
Malfoy’s face had gone red. Clearly, the Ace of Swords had struck a chord with him. “Do I choose another?” he asked.
She nodded. The next card he flipped over was an upside down woman between two pillars with a moon in the bottom right corner. “The Reversed High Priestess represents self doubt. It is best to take some time for yourself, and it may help to get in touch with your feminine side.” It gave her great joy to say that to a man like Abraxas, and, based on the snort she heard from Marlene, her cousin felt the same way. Abraxas’ face was red again.
“Take another,” she ordered.
He made a face, but did as she said. The final card he chose was a man holding a scepter and a circle with a star in it. He was surrounded by grapes and vines in front of a castle. This one was also upside down. “This is the Reversed King of Pentacles. He represents incredible wealth, so much you don’t know what to do with it. You would do anything for money, even ruin relationships. You’re a condescending dickface, but you’re not above kissing your boss’ ass. If you don’t learn to let go, you can say goodbye to everything you love.” She tried and failed to suppress a grin.
“And that’s your tarot reading,” Marlene said, stopping Lily from making any more unsavory comments. “Now, if you would give me your left hand.” He stuck out his hand, and Marlene grabbed it, forcing it open, palm up. “See this?” She pointed to the top of his palm. “This is the heart line.” She gave a minute shake of the head. “So yours is very-straight-and short,” she said choppily. It wouldn’t be long now. “That signifies-” and then she just stopped and stared off into space. The vision had started.
“Alright Mr. Malfoy, I’ll be doing the rest of your reading,” Lily said brightly, taking his hand.
He hesitated. “I don’t understand. What’s going on?”
She grinned. “Oh, Marlene is just having a vision. She’ll be back with us in a few minutes.”
Malfoy tore his hand away and stood quickly. “I didn’t pay for that!” he protested. “Make her stop! I don’t want you people in my head!”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Malfoy. There’s no way to stop a vision once it starts,” Lily said calmly. Oh, how she was enjoying seeing him squirm. Maybe now he would think twice about his son’s impending marriage and his questionable business practices. She doubted it, but the thought was nice.
“But I didn’t pay for that!” he exclaimed. It really all came down to money with this one, didn’t it?
She smirked. “Think of it as a bonus. Now, if you still want that palm reading-”
“No!” he interrupted. “No, I don’t want anything else from you.” He had almost made it to the door when Marlene tore back to the present.
“Leylines!” she gasped. Malfoy came to an abrupt stop. “Leylines, it all has to do with leylines.” She looked up at him. “That’s why he’s in Henrietta. He wants the leylines.”
Lily caught one last look of panic and fear on Malfoy’s face before he threw open the door and ran.
She looked at Marlene. “What the hell are leylines?”
Marlene shrugged. “Fuck if I know.”

Back in Monmouth, Sirius Black was sitting cross legged on the floor of his bedroom, just breathing. He had been in this position for nearly a half hour now. He hadn’t tried this in years, and he was pretty rusty.
He flopped onto his back and stretched his legs. How exactly had he done this before he stopped, locked it away inside his mind like a beast that couldn’t be tamed?
He took another deep breath and concentrated. Where are you?
Then, suddenly, as if he had just flipped a switch, everything around him melted away.
No, that wasn’t right.
He was everywhere, all at once. He was in his bedroom, laying on the floor. He was in the main room, watching James do homework. He was in the kitchen, watching Peter eat cheese. He was at 300 Fox Way, watching Lily and Marlene help Liam make dinner for their family. He was in Remus’ double-wide, watching the love of his life sort through bills he didn’t have the money for.
Finally, he was at Number 12 Grimmauld Place, watching his brother, for the first time in months, just…do things. He was doing homework. Then he was talking to Kreacher. He was sitting down to dinner with their parents, calm as could be. He was - looking at the tapestry of the Black family tree, paying particular attention to the burn mark next to his own name.
Sirius tore his gaze away from that scarred piece of fabric to study his brother. He seemed unharmed, though it was a tad hard to tell through the tears in his eyes.
He was glad to see, though, that he was missing the telltale mark of every other member of the Black family: a manic gleam in some lights, deadened in others. Regulus’ eyes looked perfectly sane and - alive.
Sirius let out a breath he’d been holding since the night he ran away. His brother was alive, and he was okay.
He barely felt himself sink back into his body until there were tears streaming down his face. He rubbed his eyes.
It felt good to cry.
-
A few hours later, at Number 12 Grimmauld Place, Regulus Black lay in his bed, thinking about what Dorcas Meadows had told him at lunch.
She was dating one of his brother's best friends. It had been two months, and they were in love.
Regulus wasn't sure how he felt about it. On one hand, he was happy for his friend. She deserved a loving, passionate girlfriend like Marlene.
On the other hand, he couldn't believe how close he was to his brother. Separated by over a year, their parents, and a truckload of difficult emotions, it was hard for Regulus to believe he was just a couple of texts away from Sirius .
That afternoon's conversation proved it was possible. If Marlene and Dorcas could do it, then so could Sirius and Regulus (but not in a romantic way; this was Virginia, not Alabama).
Logically, he knew Sirius would never take that first step toward repairing their fractured relationship. His guilt wouldn’t allow him to reach out because he probably thought Regulus hated him. He’d force himself to wait until Regulus came to him. Nonetheless, the younger Black still wished Sirius would go first, just like when they were younger.
He snorted to himself. Since when was he in the business of lying to himself for comfort? (Forever, but that was besides the point.)
He dug his phone out of his mattress and sent a text to Dorcas asking for Sirius' number from Marlene.
A few minutes later, his phone lit up. It was Dorcas with the number and a wish of good luck.
Quickly, before he could change his mind, he tapped out a text.
Finger hovering over the 'send' button, he hesitated. This was it. If he did this, there was no going back. His life would be changed forever.
He pressed it.
Not even a moment later, he received a text back.
I miss you too.

your boyfriend on his knees was definitely a sight you could get use to.
you didn't know how all this happened. you and sirius only wanted to get a nice romantic shower and now you were begging for him to make you cum. you were sure you'll come out of the shower dirtier than when you came in.
sirius was teasing you – he always was a teaser. he had his eyes fixated on you, watching you whine and throwing your head back in frustation when his tongue made ubelieveably slow circles on your clit. you were desperate and horny.
james, peter, marlene and mary were spending their time in the common room meanwhile lily and remus had their prefect duties, meaning you and your boyfriend had finally time for yourselves.
"sirius, please," you begged for like a milionth time. you let out a mix of a sigh of relief and a moan when sirius finally stopped teasing and fastered his movements. he was aware of the fact that anyone could walk in on you two anytime so he better not waste time as he wanted some relief as well.
you couldn't help but to buck your hips at the sudden pleasure. the grind against his face was even more pleasureable and sirius knew that so he wrapped his mascular arms around your thighs tightly, trying to keep you in place, making you unable to move.
your boyfriend unexpectedly sucked your clit, causing a soft yelp to escape your lips. sirius smirked, proud of himself. he then let off your button and moved his tongue to your entrance. not waiting for anything, he slid his pink muscle into you. you leaned against the glass wall of the shower behind you as your legs were getting weaker. you pulled his black locks rather harshly. you were about to apologize when he groaned against your pussy, sending vibrations through your entire body.
you arched your back in the air, feeling slightly embarrassed of how quickly you could feel yourself approaching your orgasm. sirius already knew that – he always knew.
that's why he on purpose slowed his movements. he didn't want to deny your high, no, but he just really enjoyed watching you beg, being needy and desperate.
"no," you whimpered, trying to move before remembering his hands were keeping that ability from you, "please, don't stop."
the famous sirius black smirk appeared on his face. then, he put your left leg around his shoulder as his long finger found its way to your opening and slid them inside with ease.
you were thankful for the silencing charm you casted before things got heated because you didn't hold yourself back. a loud moan slipped out of your mouth, finding yourself in a desire for more.
"more, please."
sirius, to your surprise, obeyed immediately and added a second finger. perhaps he was no longer in a mood for teasing you, but you knew that was impossible.
you were getting closer and closer by every passing second. and it didn't help when sirius' magic fingers found your g spot and his tongue went to your clit again, sucking it and drawing circles, making your legs tremble.
"cum, you slut," said sirius through gritted teeth, "make a mess for me."
you didn't need to be told twice because his words and voice sent you over the edge. the next moment, you were falling apart on sirius' tongue. he still fingered you trough your orgasm as you screamed in pleasure. his name seemed to be like the only word you knew at the moment.
you were surprised of how long your high lasted after you finally calmed down, trying to catch your breath as you once more leaned against the shower wall.
sirius chuckled lowly and then stood up. he brought his fingers to your mouth. you sucked them, tasting yourself.
"jump," your boyfriend ordered and you did as you were told, you jumped as his strong hands found their way to your ass and gripped it. you wrapped your legs around his torso and that caused the gap between your bodies getting smaller. you now felt the tip of his cock on your entrance, making you bite your lower lip.
sirius smiled at your reaction and immediately pushed his length into your pussy. you threw your head back as he stretched your walls.
not letting you adjust, sirius quickly began to move in and out. pleasure soon replaced the burning feeling from your previous orgasm as sirius' head was placed in the crook of your neck, leaving sloppy kisses on it once in a while.
you yanked his hair again and he pulled away from your neck. you brought him into a kiss, which was full of lust and passion.
you arched your back, hoping you could get his cock deeper inside than was already possible. it worked, because the tip hit your g spot.
the bathroom was full of your and sirius' moans, often moaning each other's names as you both could feel yourselves approaching your high.
"fuck," surius groaned against your neck. he then left some marks and bites on it. your nails were digging into his back, you were sure he would have some moons and scratches on it tommorow.
you were about to cry out how close you were, but your attention was caught by a figure.
because of the foggy glass wall, you couldn't quite tell, who it was at first. couldn't be remus, he's taller and his hair was definitely lighter. it couldn't be peter either, his figure was much shorter. at that moment, you knew who it was.
you didn't cast 'colloportus'.
fuck.
you patted sirius' back quickly, hoping he gets the sign. unfortunately, he didn't.
"j-james," you said loudly. sadly, with a moan, making sirius to have confusion written all over his face.
"what?" he exclaimed, pulling away from you, stopping his movements. "james? really? hm let me guess, you are still in love with him and while i fuck you, you imagine your precious ex boyfriend."
"sirius, no!" you denied in desbelief, trying to ignore the feeling of knowing he doesn't trust you completely. you tilted your head at a place behind his shoulder. "james. . ."
your boyfriend turned around confusedly. at the sight of his best friend catching him and his ex girlfriend having sex, he pulled his cock out of your cunt and cursed under his breath as his face went even more pale.
"o-oh, hi, prongs," he stuttered, pursing his lips into a thin line.
you grabbed two towels, one for you and one for sirius. you handed it to him and you two immediately wrapped it around your bodies. after you and sirius stepped out of the shower, you were met with an angry james potter.
you gulped nervously, stepping closer to him. "james? you alright? you look a little bit. . . well. . . like you're ready to murder someone. . ."
"that's because i am!" he snapped at you angrily and then turning his gaze to sirius. "what the fuck you think you're doing, black?"
"well, what do you think?" sirius raised an eyebrow. "that's what couples do, i was just having a great sex with my girlfriend, before you interrupt us!"
potter's face was getting a color of red. "you little–" he stopped himself. "hold on. your girlfriend?! as in y/n, my ex girlfriend?"
"yes, that's her," sirius nodded, waiting to get punched. but instead of that, james turned to you. sirius was getting more worried at that move.
you, on the other hand, weren't scared. no matter how angry james was, he would never hurt you. that boy wouldn't hurt a fly.
"so you're dating him? my best friend?"
"yes, so what?" you asked. "do i need to remind you that you broke up with me because you were in love with lily, also known as my best friend?"
"well, you didn't seem that down from our break up," james argued. "it's like you were sleeping with sirius while we were still dating."
"mate-"
"oh?" you cut sirius off. "so you wanted me to get depressed because of our break up?"
"no, that's not what i meant-"
"whatever," you huffed, crossing your arms in your chest. "anyway, why is suddenly everyone accusing me of cheating?" from the corner of your eye, you could see sirius', who was standing next to you, face of guilt as he remembered what he said earlier. "we broke up more than six months ago, james! and i wasn't down after our relationship ended because i figured out that my feelings for you were purely platonic! if i'm not wrong, which i'm not, i had plenty of time falling in love with sirius!" your boyfriend's face softened. he had never heard you were in love with him before.
"well, congrats that you moved on. that's great really." sarcasm could be heard in his voice. "sorry to dissapoint you, y/n, but he isn't in love with you."
"james, that's not true. i am in love with her." sirius glared.
"bullshit!" james spat, scoffing. "you never felt any romantic attention towards the girls you slept with. y/n is not an exception."
"you don't know what are you talking about! i once liked a girl i slept with!" you raised your eyebrow at him. "but i don't like her anymore, darling. i love you."
you looked at him like you never looked at anyone before as you interwined your fingers with his, your thumb rubbing his knuckles.
"i love you too," you confessed and sent him a loving smile, which he couldn't help but to mirror.
james only scoffed and said "i can't do this anymore," before walking out of the bathroom. you wanted to go after him, but sirius stopped you.
he bent over and picked up some clothes. "he's upset right now. give him few days. well, maybe a week or perhaps few weeks. . ." he threw you his short-sleeved shirt and your shorts.
"few weeks?" you exclaimed, putting on the shirt. "he possibly can't be mad at me for few weeks?! that immature, arrogant cockroach! but i know him for long enough to know you are right. . ."
both of you were surprised to see james sitting on sirius's bed by the window, watching out of it. when he heard the bathroom door open and then close, he turned his head to you two.
"sirius," he said coldly and patted his hand on the bed. "let's have a little chat, yeah?"
your boyfriend looked at you with pleading, gulping. "please, kitten, promise me you will come to my funeral. and bring those black roses. . . they're nice."
you rolled your eyes and pushed him forwards to his friend. "stop being dramatic, black."
"wait, y/n, you can stay. me and sirius don't mind your presence, do we?" james's voice stopped you from walking out of their dorm.
sirius shook his head, probably happy with the idea of you staying here while james was going to beat the living soul out of him. you nodded, sitting on perer's bed, which was placed close to the door.
james then coldly smiled and drew the red curtains around sirius's bed, making you unable to see what was going on. that made you quite nervous.
when you didn't hear any noises for a while, you knew that james used the muffliato spell.
MEANWHILE AT SIRIUS'S BED
"so. . ." your boyfriend laughed very nervously, trying to light up the mood.
it didn't work because james sent him a deadly glare. "we had a deal, sirius."
sirius groaned. "oh, come on, prongs, we were thirteen! at that time i never thought you could have a girlfriend!"
"oh, so you could and i could not?" james raised an eyebrow. "how come? we're almost the same!"
"well, i am devilishly handsome. no wonder y/n fell for me," sirius smirked. "quite literally. . "
"you have no idea how much i want to punch you right now."
quietness filled the air.
"i want to ask you something and i want the most honest answer you can give, alright?" james asked
"alright."
"do you love her?"
sirius smiled and nodded. "i do."
"how much?"
"as much. . ." your lover paused. "as much as you love evans."
james chuckled for the first time in a while, nodding approvingly. "wow. that must be a lot."
"look, james," began sirius, "i have never felt like that about anyone before. not mary, no one."
"i know," james sighed. "but let me tell you this. if you'll hurt her–"
"yeah, you murder me blah blah blah."
your ex boyfriend bit his lip. "that's not what i wanted to say. . . i was about to say that if you hurt her, you're gonna lose the ability of having children. 'cause your dick is gonna end up deep in your throat and i'm not gonna be the one putting it in there."
sirius laughed. "very funny, but y/n is not that violent."
"believe me, mate. i've dated her."
and from that day, sirius was afraid to piss you off.

Chaser at Heart | J.P
Paring: James Potter X Fem!Reader
Summary: Without realizing it James Potter has always been a Chaser regardless of his Quidditch position.
Everybody wondered where James Potter got his snitch that he played with. Rumors had been created, but only James and Y/n knew the real truth. The most common story was that James and his Marauders nicked it from a supply closet. The honest question was, why did James play with a snitch when he was a Chaser?
Y/n knew. James - even as a boy - had brilliant reflexes. They met in a field that was near both their houses. James went to the field to sit by the lake or even swim in the lake. Y/n climbed the trees and read books on the safety of the wooden bark. But one day, she wasn’t as lucky. Y/n fell from the branch she was sitting on, and James chased after her to catch her.
Brilliant reflexes James had. At eight years old, he caught her and ran fast enough to do so. Y/n was waiting for impact, but she never felt it. Instead, two arms had been wrapped around her. One under her knees and one around her back. Instantly she was met with hazel eyes.
They were beautiful. A gorgeous mix of green and brown. But it wasn’t mixed like paint - no - it was mixed like old and vinegar, separated but together. His hair was shaggy and a mess. It was a beautiful chocolate brown color to match the brown in his eyes. The grass could resemble the green in his eyes. Peonies represented the pink in his cheeks.
The boy smiled, and Y/n smiled sheepishly back, “Afternoon.”
“Afternoon, sir.”
“Sir?” James repeated teasingly, “Do I look thirty?”
Y/n laughed, “Sorry. Force of habit.”
James set her on her own two feet, “Pureblood then too?”
“How did you know I was a witch?”
“Your scarf.”
She looked down to see the gold and maroon-colored scarf, “Oh. In that case, yes, I am a pureblood. You?”
“Me too.” James stated proudly, “Family of Gryffindors.”
“Me as well.”
James took her hand and kissed the back of it, “James Potter, at your service.”
Y/n blushed at his action, “Y/n L/n, at your service.”
From that point, Y/n and James became close friends. They’d switch between going to the lake or climbing trees. Thankfully their families knew each other, so becoming friends only brought them closer. In fact, Euphemia was so grateful to have Y/n’s mother closer now that their children were friends. Fleamont was delighted to be closer with Y/n’s father.
Fleamont Potter delved in Potion making while his wife Euphemia worked at St. Mungo’s, helping wizards and witches all around London. Y/n’s father worked with magical creatures, and her mother worked with Euphemia. James and Y/n got extraordinarily lucky. They were together almost every day.
Meeting at the age of eight gave them three years of being friends before going to Hogwarts. They were close by the age of eleven - really close. They stood side by side as they got on the Hogwarts Express and shared a compartment. James and Y/n talked animatedly until a knock at the container startled them.
“Um- Hello, everywhere else is full. May I sit?”
The boy had sandy hair and green eyes. Scars littered his body as far as the eye could see. He was rather tall for an eleven-year-old too, but he seemed nice enough. His voice had a thick welsh accent. It made his language a bit incoherent, but James and Y/n knew what he was trying to say. Nevertheless, James put on a bright smile.
“Of course!”
He gave a nervous smile looking at Y/n, “Come on. We don’t bite. Although James gets pretty loud.” Y/n smiled.
The boy sat hesitantly beside Y/n, “I’m Remus, Remus Lupin.”
“Brilliant to meet you, Remus; I’m James Potter.”
“And I’m Y/n L/n.”
Another hour went by with James and Y/n starting to get to know Remus. They learned that he was a half-blood and that he thoroughly enjoyed books. Y/n and Remus bonded over that while James was listening aimlessly, just enjoying the sound of Y/n’s voice. But another knock interrupted the conversation. This time a more confident boy showed up.
He was about the same height as James. He had dark brunet hair - darker than James’ - and blue-grey eyes. His smile was almost perfectly white and straight. His face structure was defined and chiseled. A cocky smiled grazed his features.
“‘Ello!” He exclaimed, “I was wondering if I could sit here. I just got kicked out of every other compartment.”
Remus and Y/n shrugged; they looked at James, “Sure.” James replied, patting the seat beside him, “Come sit, uh….”
“Sirius, Sirius Black.” Sirius finished sitting beside James as both purebloods dropped their jaws.
“Black? As in the Noble House of Black?” Y/n questioned, and Sirius nodded, “Indeed.”
James stuck out his hand, “James Potter.” Sirius shook his hand.
“Y/n L/n.”
“You two are purebloods too. Gryffindor purebloods.” Sirius commented, “Yep!” They replied simultaneously.
Sirius eyed the nervous-looking boy, “And you?”
“Rem- Remus Lupin.”
The entire rest of the trip - seven hours - was spent talking—no more interruptions. Y/n, Remus, James, and Sirius all got to know each other. The four of them stayed together through everything until the sorting. They all stood near each other while Professor McGonagall began to call names. James was practically shaking in his boots. Y/n grasped his hand tightly.
“You’ll be okay.” Y/n whispered, and James squeezed her hand thankfully, “Thanks, you too.”
Multiple names were called in alphabetical order of last name until finally B’s were beginning to get called, “Sirius Black!”
Y/n kissed his cheek, making Sirius blush profusely, “You’ll be fine.”
Sirius nodded as he pushed his way through the crowd of first years. Anybody in the wizarding world knew about the Noble House of Black. They were one of the most respected pureblood families. Most known for their line of Slytherins. Sirius Black sat on the stool and waited patiently as the hat spoke in his ear. His cousins watching eagerly from the Slytherin table.
Silence cut through the crowd until, “GRYFFINDOR!”
The Great Hall was as quiet as a mouse. A Black in Gryffindor? The rival house to Slytherin, that was a no-go. James and Y/n exchanged nervous glances that said everything that needed to be - Sirius Black was going to be in big trouble. More names got called. Remus began to rock on his heels nervously.
“Remus Lupin!”
Again, the process repeated itself. Remus took his seat on the stool, and the hat was placed upon his head, making its commented in the boy's ear. Remus’ hands wouldn’t stop moving, and it was making Y/n want to throw up.
“GRYFFINDOR!”
The Gryffindor table yelled and cheered. Sirius Black upon them as a blissful smile placed itself upon Remus’ features. He stepped off the stood giving James and Y/n a grateful smile before sitting beside Sirius at the Gryffindor table. A red and gold tie was placed around his shoulders. His green eyes crinkled due to the cheerful smile on his lips.
Attendance seemed to be going slower - or so that’s how it felt - because of how close they were approached the P’s. James’ grip on Y/n’s hand began to get tighter, and his hand began to feel clammy. Y/n didn’t mind.
“James Potter!”
“Oh, Merlin…” James muttered before squeezing Y/n’s hand one more time.
Before stepping on the stool, he looked back at Y/n, who gave him a reassuring smile. James Potter sat upon the seat, and once again, the hat was placed above his hair. Within seconds the hat seemed to have made its decision.
“GRYFFINDOR!”
Y/n screamed loudly for him along with the Gryffindor table. James’ hazel eyes met her e/c ones, and he winked. The boy took his spot across from Sirius and watched eagerly at his best friend waiting to be sorted. Sirius snapped his fingers in James' face to get his attention.
“How’d you meet?” Sirius inquired, “Mm?”
“How did you meet her?”
“Oh, she fell out of a tree, and I caught her.” James replied distantly, still looking at his best friend left alone in the smaller crowd.
“She’s nice.”
James nodded at Remus’ comment, “Definitely. She’s brilliant.”
Finally, they got to her last name. James was on his tipping point, and Sirius smiled reassuringly - like she had when he began to sit on the stood, “She’ll be fine. You know that.”
“I do, but still.”
Y/n couldn’t fathom her excitement yet nervousness. She was a walking contradiction. Carefully, not to step on her robes while her legs felt like jelly, she moved through the relatively small crowd. Only about ten kids remained now. Y/n sat on the stool and made direct eye contact with James, who threw her the most reassuring look possible.
“Curious, very curious.” The hat spoke in her ear, “Loyal, hardworking yet courageous and stupidly brave.”
Y/n almost snickered, “What a brilliant Hufflepuff you’d make.”
“Please, Gryffindor. Please, Gryffindor.”
“Gryffindor? Are you sure?” The hat queried, “Please.” Y/n begged.
If the sorting hat could’ve shrugged, he would’ve, “If that’s what you think.”
“GRYFFINDOR!”
James stumbled from the Gryffindor table as Y/n got off the stool with the same smile Remus had. The blissful, relaxed, and cheery smile. On his way out from the table, he almost fell, but he chased his way to her until Y/n was wrapped in his arms. Y/n placed her nose in the crook of his neck while James’ face was buried in her hair. They pulled away, and James led her to sit beside him.
“Told you she’d be fine.” Sirius remarked, “I worry.” James retorted with a smile.
Y/n fiend offense, “You were worried! Where’d you think I’d go? Slytherin?”
“Absolutely not!” James exclaimed, “Jus’ didn’t want to be separated from you.”
She nudged his shoulder with hers, “You aren’t getting rid of me.”
“Neither are you two.” Y/n pointed at the boys across from her, “Welcome to our group of four.”
“We’ve gotta come up with a better name for that.” Remus replied as the other three nodded, “Definitely.”
The boys and the girls had different dormitories. Y/n shared her dorm with three other girls named Marlene McKinnon, Mary MacDonald, and Lily Evans. Meanwhile, James, Remus, Sirius shared a dorm where they met a new boy with blond hair and blue eyes named Peter Pettigrew, who quickly was added to their group of four, which was now five.
James and Y/n shared almost every class aside from History of Magic and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Instead, Y/n had History of Magic with Remus and Lily. At the same time sharing Defense Against the Dark Arts with Remus as well. She also became quick friends with her roommate, Marlene, through Quidditch. Y/n always admired James while he practiced being Chaser, while Y/n was his fake Keeper.
Throughout first year the new additions to their original duo learned how mischievous these two were. Y/n had an intelligent mind with practically foolproof plans, and James had the resources to make those plans work. Sirius was quick to join their prank-making wonders while Remus tended to stick with Y/n in making plans. Peter joined whenever he could.
Soon enough, the group was known as the pranksters around Hogwarts. Surprisingly enough, they were proud of their newfound title. They were all sitting in the boys' dorms. James, Y/n, and Sirius were talking about Quidditch. Peter was practicing the new incantation that Professor Flitwick had taught them, and Remus was reading. When out of nowhere, Remus exclaimed.
“I got it!”
“Got what, mate?” James questioned as the chatter stopped, and they all looked at the sandy-haired male, “Our group name!”
Y/n perked up, “Whatcha got, Remmy?”
“The Marauders!”
“Marauders?” Sirius repeated, confused, “What does that mean?”
Remus sighed, and Y/n giggled, “Marauders is another word for raiders, you idiot.”
“I like it.” Sirius commented, “I do too!” Peter interject.
The three looked at the original duo; Y/n shrugged, “Good call, Rem.”
“How about it, James?”
“I think it’s excellent! The Marauders it is!”
Henceforth, their legacy grew and were now known as the five Marauders. They were all known for something. James, good at getting resources. Sirius, good at persuading. Peter, the most logical. Remus, the brains of every mission. Finally, Y/n, the most reckless. Y/n is the one who’d go in first always; she was also the one with the most detentions.
In the second year, Y/n became more intuitive, observant, and curious about Remus. She noticed in the first year a pattern of when he’d get sick or his mother's sudden illness once a month. She was no stranger to these creatures as her father had worked with them for years. So before the first full moon of the new term, Y/n pulled Remus aside.
“You said you wanted to speak with me?” Remus inquired, and Y/n nodded, “I know.”
“Know about what?”
“I know.”
Remus rocked on his heels, “O- Oh….”
“Don’t worry, nobody else knows. Although they may have or will find out.” Y/n assured, but Remus still looked nervous, “Remus.”
She placed her hands on his taller shoulders, “You aren’t a monster. I’ve seen werewolves before.”
“You- You have?”
“My father works with magical creatures.” Y/n answered, “Werewolves are included.”
“Personally, I think they’re beautiful.” She stated, and tears grew in Remus’ eyes, “You do?”
“Of course, I do.” Y/n smiled, and Remus pulled her in for a hug, “Thank you.”
“Anytime and if you need anything. I’m here for you.”
“Thank you.”
Eventually, Sirius found out next, which quite honestly baffled Remus. Then James and then finally Peter, who was definitely the most oblivious of the Marauders. But to Remus’ astonishment, they were all accepting. They loved Remus as much as his mom, which - in reality - was quite a lot. Every night after full moons, he’d find all four of them sitting beside him.
James would bring games to play for when he felt up for it. Peter got his books and set them on the table beside him. Sirius brought sweets and his stupidly funny jokes. Y/n held his hand and comforted him the best he could. Honestly, Y/n gave the best head scratches, and he definitely took advantage of it.
Second-year was also the time for new Quidditch players to join the team. James and Sirius were about to try out but were undeniably nervous. The morning of, neither of them ate, too worried to think about eating, scared of throwing it up later on the pitch.
“You both are tossers.” Y/n suddenly stated, “You’ll both make the team, and then we’ll celebrate it later, yeah?”
They nodded, “Good. Now get yourselves outta this funk. It’s annoying.”
It was unavoidable. They didn’t just get out of their funk until they got on the pitch. Before James and Y/n separated - her to the seats and him to the pitch - he took ahold of her hand. Squeezing it tightly with his eyes closed. His broom in his other hand that was trembling slightly. Y/n took her hand from his and placed her hands on his cheeks.
“You’ll be fine. I promise.”
“Promise promise?” James asked, “Promise promise.” Y/n confirmed.
She let go of his face and began to run off to catch up with Remus, “Good luck!”
“Thanks.” James murmured to himself, “I’ll need it.”
Without a doubt, James was the best Chaser the Gryffindor had ever seen. Sirius was one hell of a beater too. Marlene even tried out for the new Beater position too. Four parts needed to be filled due to seventh-years leaving. Two Beaters, one Chaser, and one Keeper. Y/n and Remus were crossing their fingers that they all got the positions they wanted.
The following week the results were posted. James, Sirius, and Marlene made the team! Y/n would never forget the gleeful smile that passed its way onto James’ face or the way Sirius laughed. She’d never seen them so happy before. Remus and her stood feet away from their little party, his arm thrown around her shoulders.
“It’s nice to see them this way.”
“It is.”
Remus teasingly nudged her hip, “Seems like James has always been a Chaser.”
“What's that suppose to mean?” Y/n furrowed her eyebrows at the lycanthrope, “You’ll see it eventually.”
Y/n didn’t pry. It wasn’t worth it, especially when it’s with Remus. Remus was the ultimate secret keeper and cynical. He said things that made you think but would never tell you what they mean. Eventually, more years passed and they were in the summer going into their seventh year.
James invited Y/n to stay the summer at the Potter manor, and she did. It was possibly one of the best summers he’s ever had with her being so close. Mrs. Potter seemed to know what Remus was talking about when she threw looks at her husband when the two best friends were together. But it was one evening that they were all watching a movie when someone came through the Floo Network.
They jumped up from the couch to see a roughed-up Sirius Black, “Sirius!”
James was frozen along with his two parents, but Y/n wasn’t. She was haste to get Sirius up from the floor to help him stand. He had a nasty cut below his right eye and what seemed to be more all across his body which his mother could only do. But instantly, Y/n had been ordering James around while Sirius laid on his back on the couch.
Thankfully, Y/n knew what to do and Euphemia, but she was frozen, still watching her son's best friend take care of their other best friend. James set everything she needed beside her as she began to work quickly. James sat next to her in case she needed anything else. Y/n tore off his shirt and lifted his pants to right over the edge of his boxers.
“James, hold his hand.” Y/n ordered, and he did it, “I’m so sorry, Sirius, but this’ll sting.”
And it did. Sirius groaned and constantly hissed as Y/n helped his wounds, the muggle way. Euphemia stared in shock, no longer frozen, but it was evident that Y/n had complete control over the situation and needed no extra help. Within an hour, Sirius was brand new. Y/n had carefully used potions and other bandages to help.
“What happened, Sirius?”
He chuckled bitterly, “My mother.”
“No shit.” James retorted, “Why?”
“I’ve been burned off the tapestry. I’m not aloud back because I denied them.”
“Denied them?” Y/n inquired.
“Of you know what.”
“Oh…” Y/n whispered.
“Yeah, oh.” Sirius chuckled again - venom lacing.
Euphemia exchanged looks with her husband, “You’re welcome to stay here.”
“No, I couldn’t ask that of you guys.” Sirius denied hesitantly, and Fleamont shrugged, “Where else are you going to go?”
Sirius stayed silent, “We don’t mind, Sirius. You’ve stayed here before. Euphemia loves having you around just as much as I do.”
“You may not be our son biologically.” Euphemia began as she knelt in front of Sirius, “But you’ll always be our son.”
A single tear fell from Sirius’ eye, “Thank you.”
“Anytime, dear.”
James and Y/n exchanged looks of pure glee, but Euphemia caught their eye, “No mischief, you two.”
They sighed, “Fine.”
The duo pulled Sirius up from the couch and led him to his new bedroom. Euphemia watched Y/n and James work in perfect symphony as if they were a made team from the start. Fleamont pulled his wife to his side, watching them both as well. How perfectly his son worked with her. How amazingly gentle he was with her.
“He may not know it yet, but he loves her.” Euphemia broke the silence, “Reminds me of us.”
Fleamont quirked an eyebrow, “How so?”
“You always had this dopey grin on your face. The same one James has when Y/n’s around. It’s been that way since they met. When he first mentioned her name, he had that grin. He’s chased her all these years.”
“Perhaps our son has always been a Chaser at heart.” Fleamont commented, “Perhaps.”
It wasn’t until the first Quidditch match he realized. When he was chasing Y/n around to try and hug her after the game they had won against Ravenclaw. Y/n prohibited hugs after Quidditch matches. Yet here James was chasing her around the pitch with her a screaming mess.
Lily, Marlene, and Remus were laughing loudly at him, “Y/n! Y/n come on!”
“Absolutely not!” Y/n yelled while running, “I told you no hugs after matches.”
She spoke too soon because while she was talking, she had slowed down without noticing. Leaving James to wrap his arms around her from behind. He nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck while she leaned back into him.
“See! You love my hugs.” James exclaimed, “Whatever.” Y/n retorted.
Remus chuckled at them from afar, “They’re definitely in love.”
“How hasn’t she seen it yet?” Lily chuckled, “Oh, he’s been chasing her for years. Since before Hogwarts.” Remus replied.
“Chaser at heart that one,” Sirius stated putting his arm around the lycanthrope.
James realized it then and there. With her in his arms. He was sweaty and full of joy. She was wholly melted into his embrace. His arms around her neck and her arms on top of his biceps. James realized there was nowhere else he’d rather be than with her at this moment. So he pulled her around, facing her.
“Y/n.”
“James.”
Without a second thought, he pulled her in and kissed her. His arms were moving down to her waist and hers around his shoulders. He was so gentle and soft with her. As if she was the finest China he’d ever owned. Godric James was so soft and so sweet. Y/n’s hands went through his sweaty hair.
The whistles and cheers are what pulled them apart, “Finally!”
“It’s about time you realized!” Remus exclaimed happily, “He’s been chasing you for years!”
Y/n smiled at him, and James put his arm around her shoulder, “My chaser.”
“I’ll always chase you, love.”
Years later, that snitch James always played with would be the same one McGonagall had taken from him one day in the seventh year. It was the same snitch that Harry had almost swallowed in his first year. The same snitch that Dumbledore returned to Harry in his seventh year.
The snitch? It was given to James from Y/n when they were nine. It was an honorary friendship gift. The snitch wasn’t stolen. The snitch wasn’t nicked. The snitch was a gift to a chaser who never stopped chasing till the very end.

You love being an animagus. Sometimes you just chill around the common room in your little Papillon form but, because you’re unregistered and scared to get caught, your best friend, Marlene, pretends that you’re her dog. She pets you, scratches you, all around loves on you and it’s amazing.
Sirius is less careful with his form. He barrels around the Gryffindor common room in his giant, compared to you anyway, German Shepherd form. He comes up to people to beg for food, he sits on his friends to be annoying, he does dog things around there meanwhile you just lay down and let people pet you, almost falling asleep a couple of times.
Once you accidentally turned in front of Sirius and... well... now he knows. He promised to keep your secret though.
Now you two go around the castle in your forms, sometimes go down to the kitchens to bother the house elves, sometimes causing a late meal. You love being with Sirius while you’re both dogs.
“Sirius?” You ask him, turning back into a human to ask the question in the empty common room.
“Hm?” He hummed in response as he turned back as well.
“Should I register? Y’know, with the Ministry? Or at least tell people I‘m a, y’know, animagus?” You asked, tentatively sitting next to Sirius, waiting nervously for a reaction.
“I mean... I think ‘s up to you more than me (Y/N),” Sirius offered.
It made you think a little bit about telling the people in your year, the only people who actually know are Marlene and Sirius. Dorcas and Lily don’t know, of course James and Remus don’t know, those are about the only people you want to tell anyway.
Later that day you and Sirius were in the common room, animagus forms of course, and laying down together. You were next to him and he was curled around you. You were almost asleep as he kept poking you and nuzzling you with his snout. Everyone thought it was cute and only Marlene thought it was truly adorable, two of her friends bonding over being an animagus.
A few days later Sirius came up to you, both his hands behind his back and smiling.
“(Y/N)! I have a thing for you!” He called into the Gryffindor common room.
You came barreling down the girls dormitory staircase as soon as you heard Sirius’ voice. “Yeah Siri?”
He held his hand out and gave you a folded piece of paper before disappearing out of the portrait hole.
You unfolded the note and stared at it for a good two minutes.
“(Y/N), wanna go to the next Hogsmeade weekend with me? Like, as a date if that wasn’t obvious. If not then that’s cool but I thought I’d ask.”
You smiled at the note and went off to find him. You turned back into an animagus and went down to the kitchens. As expected, Sirius was just coming out of the portrait of a fruit bowl.
“Yes Sirius,” You say, making him jump slightly.
The next Hogsmeade weekend you both had dressed warmly and set out to the village. You both had gravitated toward the Three Broomsticks. You had sat down after ordering two butterbeers.
By the end of your date you were giggling and laughing to each other about stupid stuff. New inside jokes. You two sat with each other on the couch in the common room and you had leaned on him like normal. You were holding hands, Sirius let you play with and bend his fingers if you wanted to, and his friends just accepted that you two were into each other. Of course, they had accepted it long before then, they had known what you were long before you had even thought of revealing that piece of information to people.
Around midnight Sirius had kissed your forehead and went to bed, after shaking you up and suggesting you went to your own dormitory.
You followed him up his own and curled up in your animagus form, Sirius putting an arm over you and gently stroking your fur until he fell asleep.

You looked him in the eyes and you sighed, “I’m sorry, I do forgive you but I don’t think we can be anything more than friends at the moment. I’ll see you around.” You turned around and walked away, wondering if you did the right thing or not. Meanwhile, Sirius was frozen in place, he admit it could’ve gone a lot worse but it wasn’t what he hoped would happen. He was glad that you forgave him but he still had to prove he was serious about you. He wanted to show you that he liked you, in fact, he was probably falling in love with you. But he wasn’t going to give up, he’d get you to fall in love with him by the end of the year...
You stared up at the ceiling of your bed, lying on your back with your hands interlocked over your stomach. It was after hours but still just a Saturday which meant you didn’t have to worry about accidentally sleeping in for class the next morning. You were lying on top of your sheets in your gryffindor-themed pyjamas, thinking about the recent events in your life. The last day or two had been unlike any other. You couldn’t believe that Sirius had humiliated you in such a way. Every time you thought about how everyone pointed and stared and laughed at you, you felt like there was a lump in your throat, feelings of dread bubbling as you realised you would have to see those people again on Monday. You could see now that Sirius might have thought it was a harmless joke, but you were sick of being the butt of the joke all the time, you were sick of being someone people thought it was okay to point and laugh at. You didn’t want to be a laughing stock.
A tap on your shoulder brought you out of your thoughts and you turned your head to see Lily’s familiar red hair falling down her face and into your view. She gave you a sympathetic smile and lightly tapped your side twice with the back of her hand, a silent request for you to move over. You complied and watched as she lay down next to you, mimicking your position, though had her head tilted to face you, “I’m really sorry (Y/N), I know he’s a prat but I thought he would at least consider your feelings. I’ll talk to him if you want? Make sure he stays away from you.” You released a deep sigh and gave Lily a small smile, she was always looking out for you, “That’s okay, you don’t need to do that. I’ll be fine.” Lily’s eyes still held a considerable amount of concern, “Are you s-”
A loud snore interrupted Lily’s next words and the two of you looked over to the bed opposite yours where a fast asleep Molly Prewett lay, open-mouthed and messy ginger locks splayed all over her pillows. You and Lily shared a look before covering your mouths to muffle your laughs as not to wake the other girl. Lily rolled onto her side to give you a quick hug, “I’ll let you go to sleep now, you need to be rested if we’re going to do all our homework tomorrow like you promised.” You mentally groaned, you’d forgotten about that. You had at least six different pieces to complete by Wednesday, but Lily liked to do it all together with you, to make sure it wasn’t late. You gave her a smile and flicked your wand to shut your curtains, muffling the noise of Molly’s snoring to help you sleep. You turned over onto your side and let out a deep breath before closing your eyes and slowly drifting to sleep.
The next day, you’d tried your best not to think about Sirius and you’d been doing well, thanks to Lily and Molly. You had all sat together with a couple other girls in your year at breakfast so your view of the marauders gang was blocked and therefore, you had no reason to think about one of them in particular. As soon as breakfast had finished, you’d been dragged away to the library to uphold your promise. You moaned and complained about all the work you had to do but one stern look from Lily shut you up as she went over the instructions for the potions homework. You hadn’t been given an opportunity to think about anything else other than work when studying with Lily. You and Molly kept trying to make excuses for why you couldn’t do the work today, but Lily reminded you both that you agreed to do this with her. You put your hands together, elbows on the table, and whined, “Come on Lily, we’ve been doing this for 3 hours straight, can we please take a break?” Molly nodded along to your begging, adding, “Yeah, my hands all cramped up from writing so much, I need twenty minutes to get back some motivation.” Lily rolled her eyes, “Fine, 15 minutes, but not a second longer.” You grinned, perking up in your seat, “Yes!”
Amidst your victory, you hadn’t noticed four gryffindor students sneaking their way into the library, desperately avoiding the librarian, and making their way over the table next to your own until they were pushing their chairs in. Their table was coincidentally located behind a large bookshelf so the librarian wouldn’t be able to see the group sitting there. You tensed up and both Molly and Lily shot you worried looks but you shook your head, silently communicating with them to say that you were fine. You heard someone clearing their throat quietly but you didn’t look up, choosing to ignore whoever it was. Lily looked over Molly’s head to see James waving her over to them. She shook her head and crossed her arms, ignoring the defeated look on Potter’s face. She turned her attention back down to the parchment paper in front of her, sorting it all out into the different subjects.
Molly leaned over to whisper in your ear, “Reckon me and you should hex their arses into next week, filthy toads.” You gave her a look of mock disappointment, “That’s not nice, toads are much better company.” Molly snorted and you giggled under your breath. Sirius heard the sound and looked over in your direction, one hand on the back of his chair and on the table to turn his torso around to gaze at you. The sound of your laughter was like music to his ears and he only wished he was the one making you laugh instead. He wished for a lot of things when it came to you actually. He wished he could hold you in his arms, he wished he could kiss you, he wished he could sweep you off your feet, he wished you had the same feelings for him as he did for you. But of course, he couldn’t make those wishes come true and was having to settle for watching you from a distance. Remus, who was sitting next to Sirius, nudged him with his shoulder, “Cut it out, you’ve been staring for ages.” Sirius reluctantly turned back around in his chair, facing James and Peter. He huffed and sulked, looking down at the table as though it was responsible for all of the wrongdoings in his life. James scoffed at his friend’s attitude, “Why are you so hooked up on this girl? You’re Sirius Black, you don’t do relationships.” Sirius only sighed in response to James’ question. It was true, he’d never felt this way about a girl before, it had scared him at first, but every time he saw you, it made him excited and it felt like there were butterflies in his stomach trying to get out.
James and Remus shared a look with each other, if their friends was acting like this, then they knew it was serious. James pushed Peter onto his feet and told him to distract the librarian and when she saw him, she wasted no time in dragging the plump boy out by his ear, presumably to Dumbledore’s office. Sirius was oblivious as he still hadn’t taken his eyes off of you. You could feel his gaze on you and it was starting to make you feel uncomfortable, but not as much as when you saw James approaching your table. He pulled a chair up between you and Lily, resting his arms on the table, “Good morning ladies, now i believe we have to talk about the elephant in the room.” You tried not to laugh at the bored look on Molly’s face. James was unbothered by the silence and continued, turning to face you. “So, (Y/N), now that Sirius has apologised and all, what do you say you give my boy a chance huh? Don’t tell me you haven’t thought about being with the Sirius Black.” As much as you could appreciate how good of a friend James was being right now, you really wanted to punch him in the face. James flinched back and seemingly lost all his courage when he saw your face twist in anger. “I don’t care if he apologised, he embarrassed me in front of everyone. I was humiliated. How would you feel if everyone was pointing and laughing at you everywhere you went. I couldn’t even go into the common room without people whispering about me. I’m sick of being laughed at, so you go back and tell your friend that if he wants to come talk to me, then do it himself because if i hear his name come out of your mouth again, I’m going to hex you into next week.”
James slowly nodded his head, choking out, “Message received. I’ll leave you lot to it then.” He was only too eager to head back to the others and gave Sirius a sympathy tap on the shoulder, “Yeah, I wish i could say I helped but that would be a lie, you’re welcome anyway.” Sirius visibly drooped in his chair out of defeat and Remus pulled him onto his feet by the arm, “Come on lads, we should get a move on before she comes back, I don’t feel like having my ear yanked on today.” The trio left but Sirius kept his eyes on you until you were out of sight. James and Remus stood either side of him, James put his hand on Sirius’ shoulder, “Mate, you’ve got to get over her or do something about it. You can’t just be a creep and stare at her.” Remus scoffed, “‘Cause what you do to Lily is completely different.” James went silent so Remus grabbed his friend’s attention, “Why don’t you try getting her something she likes? Think of it like a peace offering before you talk to her again.” Sirius nodded along, “Yeah alright, thanks mate.”
Earlier in the evening, you had been walking back from the Great Hall on your own, but you didn’t quite mind it that much. Sometimes it was nice to have some alone time with your thoughts. It was a bit too cold to walk outside so you headed straight for the common room, sitting on a couch, staring at the fire. You sighed as you checked your watch, deciding to wait until Lily returned from whatever she was doing to go to bed. The portrait opened and you heard soft footsteps. Out of curiousity, you turned your head to look behind you to see Sirius with something in his hand. For a brief second the two of you made eye contact and your eyes widened as you quickly turned back around to pretend like you didn’t see him. When that brilliant plan failed and you heard him walking over to you, you winced and mentally cursed yourself for not going straight upstairs. To your surprise, he didn’t sit down next to you, instead stood by your side, a little far aways as to not be too close.
He was quieter than usual, which made you look up to see his mouth open as though he wanted to say something but he couldn’t get the words out. He looked nervous and almost worried and you couldn’t believe that the man before you was actually Sirius, this was so unlike him. You furrowed your brow in concern, “Are you okay?” The worry on your face was enough to snap him out of it and he gave you a small smile, looking down at the black box he held in his hands. It was square and not overly large but not very small either and neatly tied with a dark red ribbon complete with a bow on top. He fiddled with it as he spoke, “I wanted to apologise once more about.. you know what. It was wrong of me and I hope the two of us can begin to become friends again. This is for you, I wasn’t sure what you’d like but I saw these and thought of you and so..” he paused to catch his breath and you reached your hand out to place over his, giving him a half smile, “Friends?” you said. Sirius nodded in return, handing over the box, “Friends.” Once you held the box in your hands, you started to unwrap the bow on the top of the box. Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed how he couldn’t keep still as he anticipated your reaction. Carefully, you pulled the lid off and you let out a small gasp as you looked in the box. Inside were a beautiful pair of earrings that had a gold wire wrapped around a deep red crystal. They seemed to shimmer in the reflection of the fire and you were in awe.
You put them back in the box and turned to face him once more, “I can’t accept these, it’s too much.” Sirius stepped back out of your reach in protest, “You’ve already taken them.” You rolled your eyes, gesturing towards him with the box in your hand, “Stop it, just take them back, it’s too much I mean it.” Once more, he denied your request and firmly told you, “As your friend, I insist you keep them.” You sighed in defeat and slouched down back into your seat, “Oh alright.” Sirius grinned in victory, “I’m glad you like them, so I’ll see you around then, eh (Y/L/N)?” You shook your head but were secretly smiling to yourself, “Sure thing Black.” You heard his footsteps retreating and then ascending up the stairs to the boys dormitories. Now that you were pretty much alone again, you pulled out the earrings once more to admire them, holding them in your hands and you had to urge to bring them up to hold against your chest. You’d never received such a gift before, you loved them. Maybe he really didn’t mean to hurt your feelings?

‘You got me some type of way
Ain't used to feelin' this way
I do not know what to say
“so, mates, i think m’finally getting somewhere with lils!” the tone of excitement thickly lacing the bespectacled boys words. “m’sure of it.” he continued, a bit of confusion in his words but still the same amount of excitement as before.
his brows were furrowed and he picked at the skin of his fingernails trying to relieve himself, further wringing his hands a few times before looking at his friends for their input.
“m’so— m’so happy for you, prongs. really, that’s great.” your voice faltering as you continued to speak, trying to scoundrel up a tone of excitement that would’ve played off well enough. instead all you were feeling stone cold truth of dejection.
But I know I shouldn't think about it
Took one fuckin' look at your face
Now I wanna know how you taste
Usually don't give it away
But you know I'm out here thinkin' 'bout it’
a fake smile plastered your face, trying to push back the tears that wanted to desperately prick at your eyes. you tried to further block them from escaping your waterline as you hear the boy jabber close to every single day about the red head he had been continuously fawning over.
the day went subsequently normal; potions, transfiguration, break period, plan pranks and dinner. but unfortunately for you, you didn’t have the privilege to share a messy dormitory with the four other boys leaving their conversations and discussions open about you and more your feelings.
“d’you think y/n was a bit off today?” peter asked abruptly from the place he sat on the oak wood floor, catching the attention of the three other boys who were seated on their separate twin beds. furthering to retain all memories of you from that day attempting to identify where you might’ve seemed ‘off.’
‘Then I realize she's right there
And I'm at home like, "Damn, this ain't fair"
Break up with your girlfriend
Yeah, yeah, 'cause I'm bored
“maybe a lunch a bit, she looked a little melancholy, i guess.” sirius answered this time, recalling the memory of you speaking in a very disconsolate tone. “y’think it’s anything major, or just stress?” he questioned again, beginning to worry about his close friend.
“dunno, i don’t think so.” the lycanthrope added to the conversation. he recalled james’ new confession about the red headed girl, and your extremely unhappy expressions following; of course noticing a bit at the time when it was occurring but just assuming you had a bad day with evan rosier pestering you for a date.
maybe... maybe she— but they’re best friends? his thoughts were extremely close to scrambled, remus was an observer, he was clever and sharp-witted; but this, he couldn’t figure out.
You could hit it in the mornin'
Yeah, yeah, like it's yours
I know it ain't right
“oi, y/n!” a deep voice called in the distance, putting your light jog to a stop in the middle of the courtyard leaving you to stand in the grass. swiftly turning around you were met with the taller fawn-haired boy, who looked tremendously determined.
“i’ve, uh, ‘ve got to ask you something, and it may seem foolish, but i think i just still ask you.” his voice hurried like his panting breaths from running across the school to find you, asking around the library and your dorm mates.
“yeah, moons, sure, anything.” affirming the boy who looked a bit confused, and worried but you didn’t know if it was for his sake or yours.
he grabbed your wrist in his palm pulling you on the prickly grass over to someone more private like to speak with you. “d’you— d’you like prongs? more than friendly...” the boy sputtered, further acknowledging your blown eyes like someone had just committed murder in-front of you.
But I don't care
Break up with your girlfriend
Yeah, yeah, 'cause I'm bored’
“i— uhm, well, that’s a bit— why d’you think— remus, what the fuck!” your words taking a halt every few seconds with a recurrent sputter trying to figure out where the question had even came from, or how he even knew.
“i saw— i saw the way you acted at lunch the other day. i jus’ wanted to know if it’s true.” he asserted, no present lingering touches of judgement in his tone.
remus knew what it was like to be judged, so whenever you had the urge to jabber out all of your problems he was the boy you had always ran too first. knowingly, or not. but he felt particularly disappointed in himself that you hadn’t trusted him with this potential secret.
‘This shit always happen to me (Yeah)
Why can't we just play for keeps?
Practically on my knees
“yeah— i do.” you admitted with a breath, guilt taking a pang at your heart. and anger taking a swig at your brain; how could you be so fucking stupid.
“remus, but you can’t— you can’t tell him, or anything.” your tone was hushed, and only meant for remus’ ears. feeling a tinge of embarrassment warm onto your cheeks, knowing someone you loved clearly didn’t reciprocate those feelings.
“i swear, i won’t. but m’here for you, i don’t want you feeling like you can’t tell me anything.” his words soft, and his tone genuine. why couldn’t you have fallen for someone like him? but instead, you crush on someone who was in love with someone else.
But I know I shouldn't think about it
You know what you're doin' to me
You're singin' my songs in the streets, yeah, yeah
Actin' all innocent, please
“c’mon, y/n.” he beckoned you to follow him, resting his arm on the curvature of your shoulder feeling his side press against your smaller one and guiding you to transfiguration with him.
why? why did you have to be so damn foolish? because it was her, with her beautiful red locks, her perfect maroon lipstick, her exceedingly amazing grades, her ability to be silly for a moment and loosen up. why couldn’t you be her? why couldn’t you have what she has.
it’s because it’s simple; you weren’t lily evans and you were never going to be.
When I know you out here thinkin' 'bout it
Then you realize she's right there
And you're at home like, "Damn, she can't compare"’
“guys! guys! she said yes!” james announced whilst scuttling across the mahogany floor of the common room. his actions at a halt flopping his body over the scarlet-red couch and a grin on his lips.
“who said what?” sirius muttered, glancing up from the map for a moment before looking back down in ascertainment.
“lily-pad! i asked her on a date and she was like, ‘yeah, fine, potter. but if you’re late i’ll kill you.’ just like that!” he pretended to play out the conversation for a moment, his thrilled movements and inflection almost animated from how happy he felt.
‘Break up with your girlfriend
Yeah, yeah, 'cause I'm bored
You could hit it in the mornin'
Yeah, yeah, like it's yours
I know it ain't right’
remus briefly glanced at you, concern swirling in his hazel irises, meanwhile, your eyes widened for a moment. you plastered yet another fake grin onto your lips, about to congratulate your crush on winning a date with his all time infatuation.
“prongs! oh my merlin, that’s amazing, i’m so happy for you!” putting on the best impression of exhilaration for your best friend, the act only remus could piece together and break apart.
“no way! prongs, mate, i knew you could do it!” sirius spoke, his tone fein for his best friend who had been in a pinning coma for the last few years.
‘But I don't care
Break up with your girlfriend
Yeah, yeah, 'cause I'm bored
With your girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend’
the boys continued to congratulate the boy, remus only giving him a nod and a smile. the marauders paying no mind to it and instead james merrily talking about the red head; his red head.
you weren’t his, and you never would be.
yet another realization struck you, the urge and need to move on present in your nervous system almost begging you to find someone else and to hide away from all the pain that could swallow you whole.
‘With your girlfriend
With your girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend
You could say I'm hatin' if you want to
But I only hate on her 'cause I want you’
you were now sat on the smooth ivory bedding that perfectly hugged your bed, remus’ body right beside yours. except you weren’t comfortable, you wanted to cry a valley of tears that could’ve lasted a life time.
“why is it her? why couldn’t he want me, am i not enough?” you spoke through broken sobs, feeling remus’ agile hands rub up and down the column of your back.
“you’re enough, y/n/n. he’s a bloody git for not seeing that.” remus spoke, sponging a kiss on your hairline. he felt the wet tears graze his shoulder, slightly contracting at the cold feeling but paying no mind to them as he comforted you.
‘Say I'm trippin' if you feel like
But you without me ain't right
You could call me crazy 'cause I want you
And I never even ever fuckin' met you
Say I'm trippin' and it ain't right
But you without me ain't nice’
“m’the bloody git! i fell in love with m’best friend who’s in love with someone else! next thing you know i’m accidentally setting dumbledores beard on fire, and accidentally spawning voldemort for christ’s sake!” your words mumbled and obstruct from the tears that had over come you.
you whipped your face free from tears for a moment, basically scrubbing the black colour of your mascara down your cheeks. “you’re not alone, you know? m’right here.” his tone, yet again, sincere.
you felt undeserving of his coddling, that your messy puppy love was so little compared to his issues. “i can tell your belittling your problems right now, you’re aloud to be upset.” he whispered, trying to assure you all he could, whilst disrupting you from your senile thoughts.
‘Break up with your girlfriend
Yeah, yeah, 'cause I'm bored
You could hit it in the mornin'
Yeah, yeah, like it's yours
I know it ain't right
But I don't care’
“merlin, she’s fantastic.” the brunette finished his third speech of the day on how ‘amazing’ lily is. yeah as if him pining after her wasnt enough, then what the hell was this?
the devil poking at you for cheating on your herbology test in first year, the time you accidentally tripped peter when rushing to potions, maybe it was the time you put belching power in sirius’ drink everyday for a week because he said you had a flat arse?
what the hell did you do to deserve this incessant torture that had been inflicted upon you. we’re you being dramatic? probably. but the boy you were quite literally in love with could not stop talking about how he wanted to ask another female to be with him, companionship, life, marriage, children. he wanted everything with her.
‘Break up with your girlfriend
Yeah, yeah, 'cause I'm bored
With your girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend, baby, girlfriend
With your girlfriend’
but then again it was also extremely simple.
he just simply didn’t want you.
he wanted lily fucking evans.
‘With your girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend
With your girlfriend’

Another rainy day, more of an excuse to bawl her eyes out in broad daylight. Y/N was a mess, as she hadn’t seen James in over two weeks. Meanwhile, James was attending to his current girlfriend’s needs, treating her to back rubs and unlimited supplies of chocolate ice cream.
Y/N wasn’t in her right senses - many would agree - yet she decided to get up and make her way down to the apartment that James had been living in with Remus and Sirius. Ridding herself of her messy sweatshirt, she pulled on a black t-shirt, fixing her black leggings before pulling on her trench coat.
AT THE MARAUDER’S
“I bet you five galleons that it’s a boy,” Sirius offered, looking up at the scar-faced boy sitting in front of him.
“No way! It’s a girl.”
“Wrong, Moony. It’s a boy,” James interjected, taking a sip of the bottled beer in his hand.
“How are you so sure?” Remus asked, narrowing his eyes at his hazel-eyed best friend.
“Well, she’s growing fairly fas-“
“Boys! There’s someone at the door!” Lily called from the living room.
“I’ll get it,” Sirius muttered, popping a grape into his mouth while making his way to the door.
“Sirius,” Y/N exhaled, quickly wrapping her arms around his neck.
“Y-Y/N.”
Sirius couldn’t form any other words, not being able to even look Y/N in the eyes.
“What are you doing here?”
He took a quick glance around, mentally cursing at the fact that Lily laid comfortably on the couch, watching TV and indulging in some more snacks.
“Where’s James?” she asked, rather loud.
“Did someone ask for a James Potter?”
With a cocky grin and running his hands through his hair playfully, he stopped in his tracks, his entire demeanor falling as he looked at the woman who he once claimed to be the love of his life.
“Y/N? What in Godric’s name are you doing here?”
He couldn’t help the way his eyebrows furrowed as he felt something suddenly ignite in him.
“I wanna join the party! Who is it?” Remus asked, approaching the group that remained at the door.
Realization struck him as he caught a glimpse of her H/C hair, taking in the features of the face that he’d grown used to having around.
“Boys, who is it?!”
All of their expressions fell at the sound of Lily’s voice.
“Hello?!”
She grumbled to herself, trudging her way over to the door before pushing all of the boys out of the way.
“I swear, I have to do everything myself around here,” she mumbled, her face lighting up with a smile as she looked at Y/N.
“Y/N! It’s been forever, come on in, dear!”
With a warm hug from Lily, Y/N entered their apartment, sticking with the pregnant girl. The boys continuously shared glances, non-verbally warning one another to not slip up. Y/N knew the energy was off, but she decided to not say anything, as it was her first time seeing James in two weeks and she didn’t want to mess up. As they settled down in the kitchen, Lily clasped her hands together, smiling brightly at Y/N who held a warm cup of tea in her hands.
“I haven’t told you yet, but I’m pregnant!”
“Congratulations, Lils! I can’t definitely see that you’re...pregnant,” Y/N chuckled, making awkward hand gestures as she looked at Lily’s stomach. “But aside from that, who’s the father?”
The boys choked on whatever they were drinking, all turning around so they were facing neither of the girls.
“That’s such a silly question,” Lily giggled, running her fingers through her hair.
“How is it silly? Is it one of these two nitwits?”
“Oh my goodness,” Lily laughed again. “Who have I been dating for the past five months?”
“Moony? Padfoot?”
“No, silly! It’s James!”
“Oh don’t be absurd,” Y/N giggled.
The delighted smile that she wore on her face fell, her stomach being dominated by uneasiness as she realized Lily wasn’t joking.
“James and I are having a baby!”
“What?”
Lily then became unsure, confusion written all over her face.
“I-is there something wrong?”
Y/N’s mouth hung slightly agape, her waterlines threatening to let her tears flow freely. James turned around, his eyes stuck on Y/N’s, almost begging her not to cry with the look in his eyes.
“Lily, darling, would you wait for me in the living room?” James asked her, keeping his attention on Y/N.
Lily obliged, scared of Y/N’s reaction. What was wrong?
“Five months, James? And you’re having a baby with her?”
“Y/N, I can explain-“
“James, there isn't a jackshit to explain! You were cheating on me for five fucking months and you got her knocked up! When were you gonna tell me, James?”
“Y/N, I planned on telling you. I really did.”
He looked over at Sirius and Remus, who still had their backs turned to the both of them. She looked at them as well, hatred residing in her eyes.
“And you two - both of you knew but couldn’t tell me anything?”
Both of them lowered their heads, ashamed of the fact that they made Y/N prone to getting her heart broken.
“Look, we’re sorry,” Remus spoke up, finally turning to face her.
Sirius copied his actions, not being able to fight the pang of guilt that rang in his chest when he saw tears running down her face, knowing that he could’ve prevented it.
“Some fucking friends you are,” she muttered, holding back the stream of curses that wanted to fly out of her mouth. “Is that why you ghosted me for two weeks, James? You didn’t have the decency to tell me that you were sleeping with someone else and then you just ghost me. James, I thought you were dead for fuck’s sake! You wouldn’t return any of my damn owls! For crying out loud, James, I nearly killed myself over the fact that you weren’t there with me!”
“Princess, I’m sor-“
“I’m not your princess, James. I’m just the fool that’s too insane to accept that you don’t love me.”
“I do love you.”
“That’s just an absurd lie, James. If you loved me, you wouldn’t have gotten another woman pregnant - let alone, kept a secret relationship with another woman.”
On her way out, she stopped to say her farewells to Lily, waving at her with a soft smile.
“Sorry for the intrusion, Lils. I wish you the best of luck with your family.”
She glanced back at James one last time, her jaw clenching as a fresh stream of tears painted her face. She was about to disappear into a little hut when she paused for a moment, clutching onto the worn-out golden pocket watch that adorned her neck for over two years. She sucked in a deep breath, removing it from around her neck before walking up to James, placing it in his palms.
“I know how much it meant to you,” she sniffled before offering a weak smile to Remus and Sirius, disappearing into the little hut in her bedroom - which was, in fact, a space on her bed beneath many blankets and snack wrappers all over the place.
-
Days passed and no one had heard from Y/N. Remus had sent out an owl, Sirius making multiple attempts as well, only to find that it returned empty-handed with no form of response. Though it had proven that she was home, it didn’t prove that she was entirely okay.
After tons of discussing, Sirius and Remus had mustered up enough courage, making their way down to Y/N’s. With a few knocks on her door, she got up, opening it to find the two boys that she’d loved like her brothers.
“H-hey, boys,” she stuttered out, clearing the pathway so the boys could enter her home.
They stood awkwardly, not really knowing what to say until Remus cleared his throat, his tensed demeanor falling as he wrapped his arms around Y/N’s trembling figure. She gave out, crying into his chest as she weakly hugged his torso.
“We’re really sorry, darling. We could’ve stopped it, but we didn’t, and if you want to hate us for the rest of our lives, you have every right to.”
“Speak for yourself, Moons,” Sirius mumbled, earning a chuckle from Y/N.
“Shut up, you prick,” Remus spat, comfortingly running his hand up and down Y/N’s back as she pulled away, sniffling. “Aside from that though, how are you doing? We haven’t heard from you in a while.”
“Well,” she huffed, turning to look at the mess in her kitchen. “I could be doing a lot better, but I don’t feel as terrible as I did a few days ago.”
Though the mess she had created a few days prior was still there, she was feeling quite better. Maybe popping a few cigarettes into her mouth and drinking from two - finishing one - bottles of rum was what she needed to numb herself at the moment.
But in the morning, when it had worn off, she couldn’t fight the urge any further. She needed some air. Heading out to the beach was something she purely needed, even though there was a thunderstorm passing by.
She desperately clutched onto the sweatshirt that smelt oh so much like James, wiping her tears against the soft fabric before tossing it into the water, watching as it vanished into
thin air.
“Well, we thought that a night out would be the best resolution. How does that sound to you?” Sirius asked, taking a sip of the whiskey that hid away in his flask.
“As a matter of fact, that sounds...wonderful.”
She let go of a breath that she wasn’t aware of holding, going to her bedroom to change into presentable clothing. The boys easily had her place looking tidy, kicking back on the sofa while stealing some of her snacks.
She stopped in the bathroom, looking at herself in the mirror, running some water onto her face.
You will have a bloody great time tonight. Don’t weep over James.
With a few “motivational” words, she had gotten herself dressed in a knee-length black dress and she threw over a black leather jacket, pairing it with some leather boots.
“How do I look?” she asked, doing a three-sixty in the corridor of the living room, the soft material of the dress showing off her figure yet allowing her to feel free.
“Amazing,” Remus said, smiling as he popped another piece of chocolate into his mouth.
-
“Oh, trust me. If you hadn’t been with James for two years, I so would have fucked your brains out.”
“Okay! TMI, Sirius!”
“What makes you so sure that I would’ve let you?” Y/N sassily asked, winking at Sirius as she earned a “ooh” from Remus.
“I mean-“
“Don’t tell me you’re into CNC,” Y/N chuckled, throwing her head back.
“And what if I am?” Sirius questioned, quirking his eyebrows.
“Alright, when did this become a discussion about sex?”
“You seem very flustered, Rem.”
“I’m very uncomfortable, as a matter of fact, Sirius,” Remus argued.
“Virgin,” Y/N mumbled into a cough.
“Oh, I hate you two so much.”
Y/N and Sirius drowned in a fit of laughter, leaning on one another to regain some sort of stability.
“Alright, we’re going into a muggle restaurant. You two better not use magic at any given time, got it?” Remus sternly asked, a stone-cold look resting on his face as he peered at Sirius and Y/N who acted like complete children.
“You got it, daddy,” Y/N giggled with a playful wink, hiding her face in Sirius’ neck as they began laughing yet again.
“I seriously can’t deal with you guys,” he grumbled, holding the door open for them.
-
“Sir, may we get another bottle of sherry?”
Earning a nod from their waiter, Sirius excitedly tapped his fingertips against one another like a child. As Y/N lifted her hand to flip her hair, Sirius’ demeanor changed. Y/N easily took note of this, her eyes trailing to where his were.
My boobs? No, not my boobs.
She looked further up, a miniature shoe print resting right below her collarbone. She smiled lightly, tearing up at the matching tattoo she had shared with the boys. She placed her hand over both Sirius and Remus’, looking down at what was displayed of the tattoo.
“I’ll be a Marauder forever. James and I may have broken up but that doesn’t mean I’ll leave you guys. I love you guys no matter what happens.”
“Even James?”
Y/N cradled both of the boy's faces in her palms, wiping the tear that had slid from Sirius’ eye.
“Even James, Moony. Even James,” she mumbled, averting her attention to Remus. “He may have broken my heart but I can never hate him. There’s no point in hating someone you love.”
The trio couldn’t contain the tears that fell from their eyes, not being able to fight the feeling of missing their fourth member.
“Oh, come here you big babies,” Y/N giggled lightly, hugging both of the boys as they claimed a spot on her lap.
“Y’know, I mean it. I really do,” she paused, looking up at the two mutt-like boys seated in her lap. “I may bully you guys like there’s no tomorrow but I love you guys with all of my heart.”
They pulled the collars of their shirts down to expose the tattoo of footprints below their collarbones, smiling brightly as Y/N proudly displayed hers.
“We solemnly swear that we are up to no good. On this fortnight of October 31st, 1975, the four Marauders agree to follow each other until death do us part. We also agree to always keep secret the Great Power that we possess. Oh, yes- and one more thing. To make Snivellus's life during and after Hogwarts a living hell,” they recited their pact, smiling honorably.

Perhaps your love was doomed from the start. Maybe you were just another Shakesperian tale of forbidden romance destined to conclude in nothing but suffering. He was your light despite the darkness that had encompassed him his entire life and although the war was over, the pain still remained.
You had begged Regulus not to leave that night, tears blurring your vision as he explained that he had to be the one to destroy the horcrux. “There is no other way,” he had said, his voice shaky with the knowledge that this would likely be his end. You were young, too young, to be fighting this war. A battle that neither of you had any business being involved in the first place. Yet there you were, children who had grown up too quickly.
When he hadn’t returned the next morning, it hadn’t come as any surprise. You mourned the loss of your husband the minute he’d walked out that door. You weren’t vapid and neither was he, you were both well aware of what would happen in that cave. Whether or not Regulus succeeded, however, still remained to be seen.
The isolation following the death of Regulus Black was something you brought upon yourself. You couldn’t stand seeing muggles continuing to lead their lives as if nothing had happened. Your world crumbled out from beneath you as the universe became a much darker place, so why haven’t they stopped? A person - your person - had died, how could people continue to lead their normal lives?  We were still at war, how could they not sense that something was horribly wrong?
The loneliness made you ill after a month, so sick that you were constantly emptying the contents of your stomach into your toilet as you lay on the cool tile. What prompted you to eventually seek out another were the two little lines on the plastic test. Before long you had apparated to Godric’s hollow, the crisp snow of December crunching under your feet as you made your way up the steps of a quaint looking house. It felt much more homey than the Grimmauld flat you’d been residing in, a slight comfort that what laid behind the door you knocked on may be just as welcoming.
The face that answered the door was kind, warm eyes and a welcoming smile framed by ginger locks. You never spoke to her during your years at Hogwarts due to the two years she had on you, but you knew the girl to be Lily Evans. Judging by the slight furrowing of her brows she had recognized you as well, probably unsure as to why Regulus Black’s wife had shown up on her doorstep seemingly out of nowhere.
“Uhm, is Sirius Black here by any chance?” You asked quietly, your gloved hands rubbing your arms as you fought off the evening’s chill. She need not answer as a pair of brown orbs peered at you from behind her.
“What are you doing here, (Y/N)?” Sirius questioned, bitterness lacing his words as he took in your frail appearance. The elder Black did not think highly of his little brother - the Death Eater, or so he thought. Yet Regulus had relayed numerous stories from their childhood that revealed that in earlier years of their lives, the duo had been inseparable. You were just hoping that some of that affection still remained.
“Can we please talk? It’s about your brother.” You said, voice wavering as you shivered in the cold. Lily seemingly took notice of this and ushered you into the warmth of their home, closing the door behind you and leaving the in-laws to speak in the front entryway.
“If Regulus has something to say to me than the little shit can come tell me himself-”
“Sirius, what are you talking about?” You asked incredulously. “Regulus died two months ago.”
Sirius had not been speechless many times in his life, yet there he stood with his head reeling, heart broken, and tears slowly welling in his eyes. At the end of the day, Regulus would always be his baby brother. And in that silence he sat and listened, taking in all of what had happened the past year. From Regulus deciding to turn on Voldemort to the fateful night destroying his horcrux, Sirius felt both pride and guilt building underneath the grief. Regulus had been a good person who gave his life doing the right thing, all in belief of the same values that had gotten himself disowned.
When you mentioned the pregnancy, Sirius once again found himself dumbstruck. But that shock was quickly replaced with a sense of duty, it was as if he had the opportunity to make up for his brother’s broken relationship. He would help you raise this baby, and he would make damn sure that they did not have the same broken childhood he had suffered.
Within the week, Sirius had moved back into 12 Grimmauld Place with you. The baby he was dedicating himself to had quickly become babies after finding out that not one, but two baby Blacks were on the way. He was at your side through every step of the pregnancy, and slowly but surely his friends made their way into your life as well. James was always there to put a smile on your face and Lily gave great advice as to dealing with the pregnancy as she had delivered Harry only weeks before you showed up. Remus was always there to offer chocolate and a good book while Peter always had a hot cup of tea ready for you.
Before long, Arcturus and Cassiopeia Black were welcomed into the world and the light in your life had been restored. They were both the spitting image of their father, seeming to have barely inherited any (Y/L/N) genes and only reminded you of their father with every coming day. Little Harry was thrilled to have playmates, and you had finally found your family. Although far from perfect, it was everything to you. But all good things must come to an end, and this state of grace was no different.
Halloween came and went. James, Lily, and Peter were gone, no, murdered. Sirius could not have done it, not to his family! The man you read about in the papers was not the same gentle soul who would sing the twins to sleep almost every evening. But regardless of what you thought of the man he was guilty in the eyes of the Ministry, and thus he was sent to Azkaban to suffer a fate worse than death. This loss rocked you once more, but this time you had the twins to look after, and you weren’t alone.
Remus had stepped right up to fill the shoes that Sirius had been filling for Regulus without hesitation. He was grieving the same losses as you and found solace in caring for little Archie and Cassie. You mourned together and healed together, and before long Remus became your other half.
That friendship didn’t last long, however, as it eventually blossomed into something bigger, a love that you fought tooth and nail. Guilt consumed you as you felt yourself falling for the werewolf, not being able to shake the feeling that you were betraying Regulus as you fell deeper and deeper in love.
Right around the second anniversary of his death was when you heard the first words pass through either of the twins’ lips. Archie squealed a high-pitched “dada” to Remus who had been helping you prepare breakfast, and your eyes met his equally glassy. While the man stuttered out a mix of apologies in fear of overstepping, you just embraced him and allowed him to hold you in the way nobody had for a long time. The toddlers had accepted him as their father, and you had denied the desire to love him for too long.
Six months later the two of you had married in a small ceremony of only Order members gathering to celebrate your love. You did, however, keep the last name ‘Black’ as an homage both to Regulus and Sirius’ roles in both of your lives. At that same celebration you also announced that a baby Lupin would be making their way into the world six months later. And alas, Theodore Lupin was born shortly after, and your little family was complete.
When it was finally time for Archie and Cassie to begin their future at Hogwarts, you couldn’t help but weep as they waved out the window of the Hogwarts Express, the siblings excited to start the next stage in their lives. Your husband wrapped an arm around you as he fought tears himself, meanwhile Teddy tugged onto your hand and questioned when he would get the chance to attend the school as well, already missing his big brother and sister.
Remus and you had debated what house the twins would be sorted into, him adamant that they showed Gryffindor courage while you were certain that they would follow in your footsteps and be sorted into (Y/H). Your questions were answered the next morning as you received letters from two very excited Slytherins, taking after their father just as they had done in appearance and personality. You and Remus were proud nonetheless, but your husband was always saddened that they had never grown close to Harry. The divide between houses had seemingly grown even stronger since you two had attended and a friendship between the former friends hadn’t formed.
Two years later, the twins were approaching their third year as Teddy prepared to begin his magical schooling, and you began to ponder what your life would look like following their departure. You and your husband didn’t have the finances to travel and feared a life without the light of your children, and your questions were answered following a letter from Dumbledore himself. He offered the two of you teaching positions at Hogwarts, Defence Against the Dark Arts for Remus and Astronomy for yourself.
The two of you were ecstatic to spend the year with your children teaching, and walking side by side with the castle in view made you feel like a young girl again. A broken heart was all that was left, but Remus had been there to pick up your broken pieces and carry you home. But the wreckage of your life would not stay in ruins forever, as old friends and old loves remained closer than you had ever known and were about to rejoin your losing game.

“I know class is dismissed, but do you mind if I give it just one more try?” Lily asked you.
You gestured at the feather in front of the two of you as you replied, “By all means.”
Lily raised her wand and said smartly, “Avis Conjuris!”
But nothing happened. Lily sighed in frustration. “I did it just last class! I can’t believe I couldn’t do it even once this class!”
“I hate Transfiguration,” she murmured, disheartened. “I can never master a spell completely...”
You gazed at her, both feeling sympathy and a little bit amused. While it was true that she had just failed at turning the feather into a living bird, only seven students in the entire class had succeeded at all, and she was one of them.
You started to say, “I’m sure you’ll get it so-” when a jaunty voice jumped in.
“Are you telling me there’s something even the Head Girl can’t do?”
Both you and Lily looked up to see that James and Remus, who had been paired together, had come over to your desks.
“Hello, love,” James said to you, but his eyes remained on Lily. “It’s the way you’re moving your wand, you know.”
“I know,” Lily replied haughtily. “I don’t need you to correct me, Potter.”
James shrugged. Reaching up, he ran his hand through his hair, messing it up, as he replied in a would-be casual voice, “I wasn’t trying to correct you. I was just trying to help you... well, by correcting you, I s’pose. But nicely. Thoughtfully. Out of the kindness of my heart.”
Lily looked over at Remus. “How do you stand to be with him all the time?”
Remus simply offered her an apologetic smile.
“Hey, c’mon, Evans, I really was just trying to help you out,” James said, a bit deflated.
“Oi! Prongs! Moony!” Sirius called out. He and Peter were waiting impatiently by the door. “It’s lunchtime!”
“Right,” James murmured. He looked down at you and offered you his hand. “C’mon, love, let’s go.”
You got up and slung your bookbag over your shoulder before taking James’ hand. He pulled you along, out of the classroom. But as he did, he unconsciously shot one last look over his shoulder.
Two seats behind Lily Evans, Cyrille Lestrange happened to notice James’ last gaze at the redhead sitting in front of him. You, with your fingers intertwined in James’, didn’t notice. Cyrille shook his head lightly as he picked up his book and made his way out of the classroom.

After you left with the Marauders, Lily sighed and packed her book away. Dumbledore had asked to meet with her during lunch, and Lily didn’t know why. She hoped she wasn’t in trouble, though she couldn’t think of anything she might have done to land her in trouble with the Headmaster.
She made her way up to his office, her mind buzzing lightly with worry. The golden eagle statute turned, taking her up on its revolving staircase to Dumbledore’s office door. Lily knocked.
“Come in.”
She entered Dumbledore’s office. The Headmaster was sitting at his desk. Lily approached him.
“Ah, yes, Ms. Evans.” Dumbledore looked down at her through his half-crescent spectacles. He chuckled lightly as he said, “No need to look so worried. You are not in trouble.”
“Oh,” Lily breathed out. “Oh, good.”
“Rather, it is your counterpart that has found himself in a spot of trouble.”
“My... counterpart?” Lily repeated, confused.
“Yes. your fellow Head Boy - Mr. Joseph Davies,” Dumbledore replied. “Now, I beg you to keep this discrete, but it seems that Mr. Davies has - ah - how do I put this delicately? He has been using his privileges as Head Boy a little too freely. The Professors have expressed some concern to me. After due consideration, I have decided that it would be best to replace our Head Boy.”
“Replace him, Headmaster?”
“Yes, Ms. Evans. And I was rather hoping you would deliver the message to the newly selected Head Boy.”
Lily waited expectantly.
Dumbledore smiled slightly as he said, “Yes, I am relying on you to welcome the new Head Boy - Mr. James Potter.
Lily’s jaw dropped.

James and the other Marauders were just leaving the Great Hall after a quick lunch to set up yet another prank.
You were sitting back at the Gryffindor table, poring over your Transfiguration textbook - still trying to figuring out the Bird Conjuration Spell. James found it exasperating to see how seriously you took your studies, but at the same time, he respected you highly for it. However, he found that his time was better spent “applying” magic - that is, creating ever-more-egregious pranks.
As James exited the Great Hall, he was talking excitedly with the other Marauders, and not at all looking at where he was going when he accidentally bumped straight into someone.
“Excuse you,” a light, but unmistakably cold voice, spoke out.
James blinked, surprised by the person’s total arrogance. He looked up to see none other than Cyrille Lestrange, a fellow seventh-year in Slytherin.
“I think the term is ‘excuse you,” James replied, laying particular emphasis on the “you” to indicate that Cyrille was at fault for bumping into him.
Cyrille lifted an eyebrow at James. “Don’t your kind of purebloods teach any manners?”
“What?” James said, his voice dropping into a serious tone.
“Well, I suppose it’s obvious that they don’t,” Cyrille said smoothly. “After all, most gentlemen don’t look at other girls when they’re holding their girlfriend’s hand.”
The blood drained from James’ face.
Cyrille continued, “How can you lead her on like that? Even if you don’t love her, don’t you pity her at all?”
James’ hands gripped into tight fists. His knuckles white, James began shaking with anger from head to toe.
Sirius reached out to grasp James’ shoulder. Remus and Peter shot each other alarmed looks. James never got angry. He got annoyed, sure, but never angry.
“Naturally, I wouldn’t expect the likes of you to apologize for bumping into someone at the door, not when you have no shame for cheating openly on your girl.”
Wham!
Leaping forward, James threw off Sirius’ hand and jabbed his fist straight into Cyrille’s cheek.
“James!” Remus shouted, shocked.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Sirius said. He hurriedly stepped forward and pulled James back.
But Sirius’ eyes narrowed when he saw a flash of silver come from Cyrille’s robes. Recognizing it as Cyrille’s wand, Sirius pulled out his own wand and pointed it at Cyrille first. “Don’t even try it,” Sirius growled threateningly.
“POTTER!” A voice screeched. “What do you think you’re doing?”
Eyes aflame, hair flying behind her, hands on her hips - literally the complete picture of anger except for the missing steam from her ears, Lily marched up to the group. She could not believe it. I’m supposed to recruit James-bloody-Potter as Head Boy, and before I’ve even told him the news, I find him physically assaulting someone? Oh, what an auspicious beginning - NOT! Merlin’s beard, this is truly just my luck.
Upon seeing Lily, Cyrille suddenly gave a low chuckle. Throwing a knowing look at James, Cyrille moved off quickly, heading towards the Slytherin table before Lily could reach them.
“Lily, I’m really not in the mood to be yelled at by you right now,” James said, determinedly not looking at her.
“Trust me,” Lily said tartly. “This is hardly my idea of a perfect lunch date either.”
“Then let’s just drop it,” James replied.
“I can’t,” Lily said honestly.
“Evans- ”Sirius began, throwing a concerned look at his best friend, but Lily shook her head at him.
“I promised Dumbledore I’d give Potter a message,” she explained.
Peter frowned. “A message from Dumbledore?”
“Fine,” James sighed. “Let’s have it. What is it?”
Lily looked up at him and said stoutly, “Potter, you’re Head Boy.”
There was a moment of stunned silence. James’ eyes were wide open.
Then, the flurry of comments came in all at once.
“Dumbledore’s off his rocker,” Remus muttered. “First me as prefect, now you as Head Boy?”
“Ridiculous!” said Peter faintly. “You, Prongs? You as Head Boy?”
Then, Sirius said gleefully, “We’ll never have another detention for the rest of the year!”
Lily glared at all of them before turning her hard gaze back at James. “I’m supposed to start training you today, so meet me in the Gryffindor common room tonight at seven o’clock sharp.”
With that, she turned away from the lot of them, cursing Dumbledore’s tomfoolery in her head.

You sighed as you toppled over into James’ bed. You were exhausted after a long night of what felt like fruitless studying.
James was sitting in his bed, back against the headboard, with his Potions textbook open in his lap, but it was clear to you within seconds that he was certainly not paying attention to Potions.
You were lying down next to him, your head on his pillow. You looked up at James. “Earth to James?” you called.
James looked down at you.
You gave him a confused smile. “Something wrong?”
“No,” he said, a little too quickly.
You sat up, sitting up on your knees and turning sideways to look at him. “You sure about that?” you asked him.
James seemed to waver as to what to say to you next. There was a strange sort-of tension in his energy tonight - a certain strain replacing his usual carefreeness. You reached out to him. “James? I’m right here...”
When your fingertips touched his shoulder, James suddenly snapped. Grasping your wrist in his hand, James abruptly pushed you back against the headboard, pinning your hand against the wooden board. With his other hand, he quickly found your other wrist and dragged it up too, and anchored both of your wrists to the bed’s headboard above you.
Your mind was spinning. You hadn’t even really comprehended what was going on when you felt James’ lips abruptly ravaging your neck, kissing and sucking passionately at your soft skin.
“James?” you tried to call to him, but his name came out as a soft, strangled moan. The way his warm, grasping lips moved against your neck set your mind aflame. James was an amazing kisser, so wherever his mouth was - pleasure followed soon afterwards.
“I know you’re here,” James promised you ardently between kisses. “I know you’re with me, love. You always have been.”
He suddenly exhaled heavily and murmured, “Merlin. I don’t deserve you.”
“Jamie?” you mumbled aloud, confused.
As James pressed his lips all down the side of your neck, his hands slowly slid down from your wrists to your shoulders, slowly but surely pushing your top open. Though he couldn’t quite get it open enough to slip off your shoulders, he held your shirt apart enough for him to continue kissing you all over your chest.
He worked his way down your neck and to your chest and to your collarbone, sucking at your skin harshly. You shivered slightly as he sucked quite hard at your skin.
Finally, sliding his hands around you and to the middle of your back, James pushed you from behind slightly, forcing you to arch your back and present yourself for him. Your head naturally tilting back, your breath caught as your breathing was suddenly restricted by your pose.
James buried his head against your breasts, kissing the tops of your breasts through your blouse, which had straining buttons because of the way you had arched your back. You felt quite vulnerable in this position, with you draped back in his grasp, with only his large, warm hands supporting you. You felt almost as though you were suddenly offering your body to him. And with the way your back was arched, your hair ran down your shoulders and back, and neck, chest, and breasts were completely vulnerable to James.
And he was taking full advantage of it - marking you as his with his lips and teeth, sucking hard enough to leave bruises all over your skin...
“James,” you breathed out, “baby, wait....”
“Mm, but I want you. You’re so beautiful,” James told you, almost brusquely. He reached forward and grasping the neckline of your blouse, he carelessly ripped it out.
You gasped as the buttons of your shirt popped open and scattered all over the bed, and your chest and breasts were exposed. At least your bra was on... But even as you thought that, James had aggressively yanked down the front of your bra to fully expose your breasts. With a soft groan, he bent his head down to press kisses all over your breasts and then, he sucked hard on your nipples.
His lips moved greedily against your sensitive, tender skin - sucking at it, grasping it, and wetting it. And he was biting at your breasts so much - not enough to hurt you, but definitely enough to leave marks everywhere.
When you felt his teeth gently grasp at your breasts, you cried out softly, “Ah...”
With his mouth still pressed wetly against your breasts, James moaned out, “You’re my girl. Mine.”
“James...” you moaned. Trying desperately to think straight, you murmured, “If you... If you need to talk- ”
“No, I don’t. I just want to kiss your body all over,” he mumbled back, with his lips still pressed against your breasts. “You’re so soft, and you taste so pretty...”
“But if we need to - to talk- ” you tried to insist.
“What I need is to kiss you all over and then to fuck you silly,” James replied, not missing a beat.
“But - oh, James, uhn...”
“Don’t you want that too?” James asked you, half-taunting and half-pleading with you. With his mouth still pressed against your breasts, he looked up at you.
You were breathing hard as you looked back down at him, your lashes long and thick enough to cast little shadows on your skin.
“Give me some credit,” you moaned out pitifully. “I’m trying to look after - after you - oh Merlin, forget it - !”
“I love your mouth,” you suddenly babbled, unable to hold back anymore. “I fucking love your mouth on me, James.”
Your fingers entangled themselves tightly in his messy hair and you pushed him harder against your body, against your breasts.
“Kiss me,” you moaned, pleading for him to continue to use his mouth all over your body.
James’ tongue eagerly flicked out against your nipple and then swirled against it, pressing at it. At the same time, James reached up with his other hand and began to roughly grope your other breast, massaging it and pressing his palm against your nipple.
“Oh,” you exhaled loudly.
“Mmm, I love to worship this body,” James murmured, biting gently at your nipple. “I’m going to make you cum over and over again tonight - so you never forget that you’re mine. All fucking mine.”
His words sent an alarm bell ringing in your head. James could be quite dominant - but there was a certain edge of his possessiveness tonight that was almost angry, and you didn’t know why that was.
But it was hard to think straight with the way that he was devouring your body. Even though there were brief flashes of pain as he sucked so hard against your skin,  it was mostly complete bliss and pleasure.
Your eyes were slipping shut. You wanted to lose yourself in this sensation, to lose yourself in his touch. His teeth pulled slightly at your erect nipple, and you bit down on your lower lip at the sensation of your boyfriend tugging on you, heightening your sense of desire... But you knew that something wasn’t right, that James wasn’t himself...
“James, James, wait,” you said breathlessly. His teeth still clamped gently around your nipple, James shook his head at you. Then, he dragged his mouth over to your other breast, replacing his hand with his hot, wet mouth kissing all over your beautiful, soft mounds.
But no... I’ve got to - uhn, I’ve got to... make sure he’s all- all right first.
Reaching down, you managed to pull his face up to yours.
“Why? You don’t like it?” James asked, suddenly worried. “Am I hurting you?”
“No... It feels - It feels good,” you assured him, panting as your chest and breasts rose up and down from the effort drawing breath. “But... what’s going on?”
“Nothing’s going on. I just want you,” James replied, almost defensively. “What? Can’t I want you this way?”
“Of course you can want me this way,” you told him. “You can have me however you want. I’m yours, baby. But if something’s bothering you...”
James just gazed at your lips, both wanting to kiss you numb and wanting to hide his emotions. The only thing was - he was terrible at hiding his emotions.
You paused, unsure of how to respond. “I just... If there’s something else going on...” you began uncertainly.
“Nothing’s going on.”
You hesitated again. But seeing the look in his eyes, you decided to insist. You said as coaxingly as you could, but without giving any ground, “Baby, I can tell when you’re lying. Something’s wrong. You’re not being honest with me. And I can’t lose myself to you when I know you’re not okay.”
At this, James sighed and pulled away from you. A rush of cold air wrapped itself around your body without his warm, strong presence surrounding you.
You hugged your arms to yourself, suddenly feeling very vulnerable.
“James?” you said, and your voice was embarrassingly small.
“I’m sorry, baby,” he sighed.
“Did I do something?” you wondered.
James looked over at you. Then, seeing you hugging yourself, his eyes widened, and he quickly lifted his covers and wrapped them securely around you.
“Sorry,” he repeated sincerely. “I’m sorry.”
“I’m all right,” you told him kindly. “I just wish you’d tell me what’s going on.”
“Okay, I will,” James responded. “Just... let me think about what to say.”
You waited patiently for him to find his words.
Finally, he asked you, “Can you promise me something?”
“Promise you what?”
“Don’t hang around Cyrille Lestrange.”
You scrunched up your nose as you looked at your boyfriend, bewildered. I would never have guessed that he would say that. “What? Where in the world is this coming from?”
“Just promise me.”
You blinked a couple times, trying to figure out if this was the lead-up to some kind-of joke or something. But James seemed dead serious - and he was not taking your silent response well.
“He’s a jerk, and he says nonsensical things,” James said, and his voice slowly rose in intensity, becoming angrier. “Don’t go anywhere near him.”
“James,” you smurmured finally, “look at me.”
When his eyes met yours, you frowned a little at how frustrated James looked.
“Jamie,” you said softly, using your nickname for him, “I can’t imagine any scenario where I’d be hanging around Cyrille Lestrange, of all people.”
“Good,” James replied shortly. He looked away from you again.
You hesitated before reaching out and putting your hand on James’ shoulder. “But I don’t like that he’s bothering you so much,” you remarked quietly. “What happened between you two? Did he say something to you?”
James was very still under your touch - which meant that he was thinking quite hard. After a long moment, James shook his head. “Nothing happened. I just... don’t like him.”
“Baby,” you murmured lovingly. You reached up and placing your hand on his jaw and cheek, you gently turned his face so that he would look at you. You gazed at him, wondering what was bothering him so badly and wishing that you could make him feel better. What can I say to make him feel better? What can I say so that he knows he can trust me with anything?
The words slipped out of your lips before you’d thought them through. You told him with utmost sincerity,  “I love you.”
You waited with bated breath.
James hesitated. His eyes darkened slightly, but they searched yours - looking for something, but you weren’t sure what.
You held his gaze anyways, trying to express that you were there for him, by not dropping your warm and tender gaze.
James slowly pushed you down on the bed and reaching down, lifted both of your thighs. He positioned himself so that when he pressed his thighs down into you, his cock, underneath his pants was pressed against the slit of cloth between your thighs, just barely covering your pussy. You tensed slightly and almost unconsciously helped James to hold your thighs down, spreading them apart ever so slightly to feel more of him pressed against you.
Yes, you thought, this is what we both need...
James pressed his forehead gently against your eyes and looked down at your eyes. Reaching down, he slowly stripped away the blanket between you, having you reveal yourself to him again. His eyes took you in - how beautiful you were, all bare for him, and lying back... And it would be so easy and so utterly pleasurable to reach down and get rid of your panties and his pants and to just push his cock inside of your waiting pussy...
You breathed out slowly, your exhale stuttering a bit.
James’ lips parted. “I...”
Suddenly, the clock on the wall chimed.
James sighed. He closed his eyes and whispered, in an almost pained voice, “I have to go.”
“You do? Why?” you said, surprised. It was seven in the evening. It was far too late for Quidditch practice. And by the way he was acting, he didn’t sound like he was going to set up a prank, either.
“I’m actually... Well, I’ve been selected as Head Boy,” James admitted.
You blinked, stunned. “What? That’s amazing. Why didn’t you tell me before?” You moved your head back a little, sinking into the bed a bit, and gently pushed James away from you just a couple inches, so you could look up at James’ face. You expected him to look exuberant, gleeful, or at least proud of himself. But he didn’t look like anything of these things.
Wrapping your legs around his waist, you reached up and traced your fingers against his shoulder as you asked him quietly, “Do you not want to be Head Boy?”
James shook his head. “No, it’s an honor, really. Though I can’t imagine why Dumbledore chose me. It’s just that- ”
A sharp rap! sounded out on the dormitory door. You and James both paused. Then, Lily’s voice floated in through the door as she said crossly. “You’re already late! Did you forget you have Head Boy duties tonight? I’m taking extra time out of my evening to show you the ropes. The least you can do it show up on time!”
Oh, you realized, right. Lily’s Head Girl.
“Well, I guess that’s my cue to go,” James said softly.
“Yeah, a pretty obvious cue, I’d say,” you tried to joke. But you couldn’t quite meet his eyes. Your hand slipped off of his shoulder and your legs fell away from his waist.
“Will you be here when I come back?” James asked you, watching you carefully.
“Maybe. When will you be back?” you asked him.
“Probably in an hour.”
“Oh.”
“Oh?”
“An hour’s a bit...” Your voice trailed off. You reached down and pulled the covers back up over yourself. Then, you said simply, “I’ll probably be doing homework, or asleep.”
“All right.” James leaned down and kissed you on the forehead. “Sweetheart, I’m so thankful I have you. I need you to know that. You’re the only girl for me, and I- ”
“Potter!”
“Merlin,” James cursed. Then, he hurried out of bed and snatching up his wand and shoving on his shoes, he yelled back in an equally annoyed voice, “I’m coming!” He wrenched open his dormitory door and left. He did not look back at you.
Immediately, you could hear him and Lily bickering all the way down the stairs. You slowly turned over onto your side. After a moment, you dragged James’ pillow into your arms and buried your face against it. I can’t be weak. I won’t project my insecurities onto James... or Lily, for that matter.
But there was a sinking feeling in your heart, telling you that you’d already lost.
No, but James always says that I’m the only girl for him... I believe him. I believe him more than anyone.
Right?
Then, a sly voice in your head sounded out - Even more than yourself? Even more than your own intuition?
All at once, you chucked away the pillow and got up from James’ bed. You grabbed your wand from the bedside table and pointing it at your ripped-open shirt, you murmured, “Reparo.” The Charm worked, thankfully, and your shirt mended itself - buttons and all.
Feeling utterly restless, you left James’ dormitory room, slipping down the staircase and out of the boys’ dormitory.

TW: Blood, death, war and werewolves
In the Forbidden Forest, Voldemort and his Death Eaters are waiting for the Keeper of the Diamond to show up. Snape is in chains - he has several cuts on his face and he is bleeding from his nose.
Voldemort sighs. “Well, Severus, it does not seem like the girl wants you to live. She has still not shown up” he calmly says. Though inside, he’s getting impatient. Where in Salazar Slytherin’s name is she?
The Order suddenly shows up - not only them but as well as Professor Minerva McGonagall, Professor Filius Flitwick, Professor Pomona Sprout, Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas. And Y/N’s friends, Vera and Laura. However, the girl is still not in sight. “Where is she? Where is the girl?” Voldemort demands, clearly irritated.
Suddenly, somebody emerges from the crowd - Y/N. Voldemort starts to laugh. “Ah, there you are. I was beginning to think you would not show up. Now, come to me. If you want Severus here to live,” he says as he scratches Snape’s face with his long nails. Snape screams in pain. “Then you will help me destroy The Chosen One once and for all. Join the Death Eaters and you shall be rewarded” he says as he gives a creepy smile.
Y/N looks at Snape, quite worried. What did they do to him? Meanwhile, Snape is trying his best not to show any emotions. Though, Y/N can tell that he’s scared. And so is she.
She then turns her gaze to Voldemort while looking angry. “I will never join you. However, I won’t let you hurt him anymore as we will fight you! You can’t win!” Y/N states.
The Order suddenly starts to attack the Death Eaters. While everyone is fighting, Lucius frees Snape from his chains without anyone noticing. Snape gives his friend a grateful nod as he is happy to be freed.
At the fighting scene, Lupin and Black are fighting two Death Eaters side by side. As they stupefy them, they suddenly spot someone - Wormtail. “Look who is there, Padfoot” Lupin says, sounding angry.
They then approach Voldemort’s servant. “So, Peter. We meet again, huh? Well, this time we will not let you get away!” Black states to the man who is shaking with fear.
“Remus, Sirius! Show mercy!” Wormtail begs, hoping they will let him live so he can get away. He does not want to go to Azkaban, but he also doesn’t want to die.
It doesn’t work, though. “You know that will not happen, Peter. This is for James and Lily!” Lupin exclaims as he points his wand at Wormtail. The man then flies into a tree, “accidentally” breaking his neck.
“Ha! Nice hex, Moony! Now we got our revenge! That is what happens when you betray your friends” Black says while grinning at his friend who smiles at him.
Suddenly, Fenrir Greyback is standing in front of them. “Well, well. Looks to me like somebody forgot it is that time of the month” he howls as he smirks at Lupin. They all look up in the sky. Oh, no! The full moon.
Lupin looks at Black, frightened. “Padfoot-“ he says before he is suddenly transformed into his werewolf form.
“Moony, no! You have to fight it! Do not tell me you have forgotten to take your Wolfsbane Potion!” Black yells before it’s too late.
Lupin the Werewolf gets ready to attack. However, he doesn’t attack his friend. He attacks the other werewolf. Greyback and Lupin are in a violent fight, werewolf versus werewolf.
Lupin wins as he breaks Greyback’s neck with his teeth and runs off deeper into the forest, away from the people.
Meanwhile, Y/N is fighting the Death Eaters using the skills she learned during her training sessions at Hogwarts. She surprises a Death Eater by conjuring a group of red, angry birds towards him.
She attacks another one so he flies into a tree and stuns a few who were about to attack Luna and Ginny. They smile at her as saying “Thanks”.
Y/N suddenly spots Lucius. They stare at each other for a while, unsure of what to do. He suddenly points his wand at her - however, not to attack her. He blocks a stray hex that was about to hit her.
When she realises, she widens her eyes. She however can’t help but smile at him as she then nods a “thanks” to him. Lucius smiles back and nods as well.
He then runs off as Y/N runs into the Trio. “Are you guys all right?” she asks them while they are fighting a few Death Eaters.
“Yes, we have hexed quite a few of them! How about you?” Hermione asks her. However, before Y/N gets to answer, a Death Eater points his wand at them.
“Avada Ke-“ he begins but is stopped when something hard like a stone hits his face. It looks like some type of cake or bread.
“Looks like he didn’t appreciate me baking” someone suddenly says. They all turn around. It’s Rubeus Hagrid, the Gatekeeper of Hogwarts.
“Hagrid!” the Trio exclaims in unison and runs to hug him.
He hugs them back. “Didn’t think ye were going to war without me, were ya?” he says as he chuckles. Y/N smiles at them.
Suddenly, another Death Eater is about to attack the Boy Who Lived but is stopped by someone. Is that a house elf?
“You shall not harm Harry Potter!” Dobby says to the Death Eater as he hits the man with his magic.
Harry then turns to him. “Thanks, Dobby - but we agreed that you weren’t supposed to save me again, remember?” he says as he smiles at the elf. Dobby merely gives a nervous laugh as he then smiles at the boy with a scar on his forehead.
Y/N taps on Harry’s shoulder. “He deserves a bunch of socks, don’t you think?” she asks as she chuckles. Harry chuckles as well while nodding.
They all suddenly notice the twins, Laura and Vera looking at someone fighting. “What’s going on?” Harry asks, confused.
The twins just grin. “Our father,” George begins. “Is fighting Lucius Malfoy” Fred ends. They all turn to look at the fight. They are right - Lucius and Mr. Weasley are fighting. However, they are not using their wands - it’s a good old fist fight.
“Go, dad! Hit him in his face!” Ron exclaims while cheering for his father.
“Aww, man. If only we had some popcorn” Laura says as she sighs.
George suddenly conjures a big bowl of popcorn that he gives her. “Here ya go” he and Fred say in unison as they give a mischievous smirk.
As they are still watching the fight while eating popcorn, Voldemort appears behind them.

Happy Birthday James Potter, currently hanging out with his lovely wife and his son Harry Potter who are spoiling him rotten.
Shout out to Remus and Sirius trying and failing to be discreet about the surprise party they are throwing. The kitchen nearly went on fire five time as Sirius claims he's "that hot, Moony."
Meanwhile, James tells Lily that he knows about the party and he should probably practice his surprise face. She kisses him softly because this man is the love of her life and an absolute dork.
Harry comes over with Ginny and the kids, who are excited for the prospect of cake. Running around full of life. James Sirius begging James for stories of his youth. James of course training him up to become Hogwarts next troublemaker.
They are a family, alive and well and thriving and it all started because James Potter gave his hand of friendship to four boys on the Hogwarts express.
Happy Birthday to James Potter, Prongs, Hogwarts' favourite troublemaker with a heart of gold.
