Dragons Rising Season 2 Pt1 overall thoughts!

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS DO NOT CLICK UNLESS YOU'VE WATCHED THE WHOLE THING

In no particular order:

Wow, this season was the heaviest one yet. I'd been a bit disappointed by how Season 1 seemed a bit light on the life lessons that I found so compelling in Ninjago. Well, DR2 delivered in spades, from the theme of secrets, to the issues of mental health. Never should've doubted Ninjago writers!

WHY LEAVE SO MANY UNRESOLVED THREADS THOUGH. Not even clues for fans to speculate on?!?

Like what happened in Cole's journey to follow Master Wu?

What really is that glowing orb sprite thingy? Because it showed up in the Monastary of Spinjitzu to close the portal gate, right? How was it doing that before they'd even traveled to Mysterium? Have I misunderstood something? (Granted, I had to do chores here and there so I really might've missed something... need a rewatch)

Where did Cinder even come from? How did Ras recruit him? What's his story?

What really is Arin's object spinjitzu power?

Of course I'm sure all of this will be resolved/revealed eventually, but it seems a lot to conclude in the next 10 episodes. Oh wait, they've said they have enough material for a few more seasons right? Well, sure looks like enough for at least a third season.

I think the ones who are gonna have a falling out are Arin and Sora. It's gonna be revealed, maybe at some critical point, that he didn't actually do object spinjitzu to get them the win, and it's gonna destroy his self confidence as well as his trust in Sora.

They're gonna get all of the Forbidden Five out eventually, possibly by shoving more ninja through the gate. Which is fine, because the ninja will just meet up and come back through the Power of Friendship!

SO CURIOUS to find out what the elemental powers of the Forbidden Five are.

I was a little disappointed by the lack of Euphrasia though. I thought for sure she'd have a more major role this season, but she still remained a side character for most of it. Oh well, patience!

BONZLE. I did NOT expect her story to go this way. Still trying to wrap my brain around a sentient spell, but hey. It's Ninjago.

Love her so much though she's so precious.

Speaking of precious, ZANE. That's it. That's the whole thought.

No, I AM going to expand on that. Look at how he had such a vast knowledge of the Administration's rules and regulations. Look at how he stalled them with it. Look at the pride he had in helping them raise their efficiency by NINE PERCENT. IT COULD'VE BEEN TEN YOU GUYS. IF HE HADN'T GOTTEN RESCUED.

MR FROHICKY. I need that Frohicky plushie like YESTERDAY.

Also PUPPY COLE PLUSH WHEN

COLE. He's still protecting and trying to comfort everyone. What an amazing fight he put on at the monastary, almost a one-man army against the Adminstration's mechs, with Gandalaria's support. I bet his failure to protect Zane would have devastated him if Zane had been deactivated permanently. Fortunately Gandalaria knows more about nindroids than she should...

GANDALARIA! Endlessly positive and chirpy and disorganised. Like a more established Fungus. Wish I could be her. Loved seeing her dynamic with Cole being her straight man (hush, yes I know.)

So happy to see Kai get his focus for a change. Love Lloyd but he gets the focus like... every season. Kai needs the love. He's really cool this season.

Nya gets the least focus :( I miss her

WHY are all the ninjas' powers only as powerful as the plot calls for it :/ Zane's frozen way more than just a runaway mech back in the day!

I still think Ras looks too cuddly to be taken seriously as an antagonist. I mean would you not hug a Ras plushie? Look at those eyes. Look at that nose.

Is Ras's master a Source Dragon or the Overlord? OR BOTH?

Love Rontu, but she is such an archetypal (?) Nurturing Mentor to Egalt's Grumpy Old Master

Egalt has dragon cancer :( he looks way cooler in the show than he looked in the promotional materials and the set

I haven't talked about Jay, have I? JAY. Oh how my heart skipped a beat when he showed up pointing that gun/taser at Bonzle. I literally said out loud "OH NO OH NO OH NO".

I think that was the single most terrifying part of the whole season for me. I don't even know why it was so visceral. I think I was worried that his entire peronality had changed, though I don't know why I thought that, since in Pt1 he was literally playing video games instead of working.

So I was actually relieved to hear that he felt he didn't really belong in the Administration. Pre-merge Jay probably couldn't even fill out a single form properly. He probably had Nya or Zane or Cole do all the paperwork for him.

He clearly wasn't suprised that he had control over lightning. Why did nobody know about it? He's the kinda guy who'd use his powers for entertainment if he didn't have a good reason to hide them.

He didn't recognise his own ninja outfit D:

Lastly, the Finders - I'm also a little troubled by how Cole seems to put them ahead of his ninja family, but then again. He knows the ninja are all very capable warriors who can take care of themselves. On the other hand, for who knows how long, he had felt responsible for protecting his little newfound family. It makes sense that he would continue priotising them even after finding his old family.

In conclusion, Cole is such a dad :D

And to wrap it up, NEED PT 2 NOW 6 MONTHS IS TOO LONG TO WAIT NETFLIX /shakes fist

Courtesy of Promobricks (but in my heart, it'll always be courtesy of my friend tm59 bc Imma keep it real I would've NEVER seen this without him) we have a very long set list for Dragons Rising!

This list is definitely real, and not something to take with "a grain of salt" because if you recall, Promobricks gave us that Crystalized set info, and all the DR info for s1 sets so it's legit!!!

Dunno what i'd call her, but she was in the same dream as that one weird landscape.

She was some kind of robot mech thingy based on Subnautica's various submarines. She also had a pilot behind her face visor?

I remember going "god i wish i'd come up with that" which sounds very ironic lmao.

Possibly this is inspired by @koboldfactory 's various robots! I wanted to mention this, because genuinely this felt similar to their digger robot dragon and their submarine robot dragon, which I ended up looking at before i fell asleep. I fuckin love their designs, A+ character designer right there. That, plus I REALLY like Subnautica. (Also mentioning it bc im worried about accidental plagiarism :'D)

No like let's talk about Tang man. In season Fenale We saw our Guy Using his power and Summoned out something of like a power support for MK'S Monkey Warrior Mech and everyone's energy is Chanelled with it. Like a Wire Connection or something.

Not just that But Tang is Powerful as fuck man. He Just straight up became a support like in League of legends game and When he did Created that Upgrade Thing.

Lupine's outfit was inspired by the Onceler and has not changed since I designed him. I love her.

Little rant thingy I guess regarding those junior ninjago sets.

So, I'm basically obsessed with anything that has Ninjago Legacy slapped onto it. Any set I can find with that specific theme, I'll buy it in an instant.

I'm gonna get my hands on that Bounty.

Looking for more sets to spend my money on, I came across these little sets that have less than 150 peices. They're specifically targeted to the age range of 4+. So not for me, a legal adult. But I bought some anyway.

Something specifically caught my attention about these little sets:

They cost so much more than they should.

I've noticed a pattern when it comes to Lego sets and pricing. Their prices roughly appear to be approximately how many pieces are in the set. A set with around 400 pieces would be $40. A set with around 100 pieces would it be $10.

These things? Not the case. They cost twice as much as they should.

This set. Kai's Fire Dragon. 81 pieces

Price: $20 dollars

Jay's Electro Mech. 106

Price: $20

But this one. This one gets on my nerves the most.

Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty. 147 pieces.

Price:... 40 fucking dollars

I get the pieces are big. For the kids. But $40?? For a set that doesn't even have 200 pieces???

And they look so sad...

I get Lego sets are expensive, but this is outrageous...

Y'all remember how I was like "Big Mama gave Shadow Fiend most of the Dark Armor so they get a massive powerup but aren't in danger of being possessed"? She would certainly make use of the remaining pieces somehow! I think she's kidnapping people who would be a good fit for just one or two pieces. Since the turtles will obviously wind up fighting in the Fantabulous Battle Nexus Wizbang, I'm trying to think of what kind of matchups the show will focus on.

1. Meat Sweats vs. Mikey. They’re pseudonemeses already and both have a flair for the dramatic. The appeal of their fight is the Performance. Mikey’s main advantage against a larger opponent is that his kusari-fundo gives him a longer reach. While he definitely won’t have access to his normal weapon in the Nexus ring, he can probably choose a mundane chain weapon from Big Mama’s arsenal. But to even the score, Big Mama gives Meat Sweats the Dark Armor's gauntlets. Shapeshifted to look like his regular gauntlets, Mikey is none the wiser...

...until Meat Sweats blasts him with a familiar ranged lightning attack! Though Mikey will no doubt find a way to win anyway; a Protagonist isn’t going to lose against a B-List villain.

2. Big Mama gives her next fighter the Shredder's faceplate, which takes the shape of a hockey mask. Surprise, it's Casey (Foot Recruit)! Even though she's no longer part of the Foot Clan, I think she would be overjoyed to receive such an iconic piece of the armor. Her opponent is Raph. Or, more specifically, Savage Raph. Casey hasn’t had the chance to go properly apeshit yet, and she needs to throw down with someone who can match that. The appeal of their fight is the Bloodshed. But we need a way for Casey to circle back around in a future episode, so the match can’t be decided simply because one is a better fighter than the other. Back in "End Game", Casey wasn't there to hear that the Dark Armor had a flaw. She doesn't know the faceplate still has a tiny piece missing. So she puts it on expecting some bomb-ass powerup, only to get nothing! This overconfidence is, of course, her downfall. Perhaps Casey loses because of something silly, like Savage Raph just picking her up and yeeting her out of bounds. Her self-esteem is already a wobbly Jenga tower, so I imagine hundreds of yokai laughing at her is enough to send that crashing down. Casey slinks out of the Nexus (with the faceplate!) and finds somewhere to brood. But, since it’s easier to be angrier at others than at oneself, she’ll blame Raph for her humiliation and eventually track him down for a "real fight”.

3. Donnie’s matchup is a little trickier. The appeal of his fight is the Strategy, so his opponent will be another intelligent character. The Purple Dragons aren’t physical fighters, and Big Mama might not have access to the level of human technology they would need to build a mech or robot. The same goes for Baxter, as well as any upgrades Albearto could give himself. We need an intelligent mystic character.

Four witches were given the extremely important task of gathering ingredients for the Peace Day potion, and Gentry was one of them. Her mini-cauldron was what gave April’s bat its upgrade. She might have a grudge against Donnie for causing the destruction of her town. It would make sense for us to see her again in the Nexus. Perhaps this is punishment for her failure during Peace Day? “Redeem yourself or don’t come back”? Donnie would have studied magic more closely since their last meeting, while Gentry would have had no such opportunity to study science. This should give Donnie enough of an advantage to win easily, but Gentry has a piece of the Dark Armor as well. It has an as-yet unknown power, making it difficult for Donnie to account for it in his plans. Perhaps the Armor’s boots (or those wing-thingies on the back) can grant greater mobility? But in the end, Donnie is a supersoldier with combat training and Gentry isn’t. She never stood a chance.

4. Performance, Bloodshed, Strategy... a true Battle Nexus Champion can balance all three. But Leo isn’t going to fight Shadow Fiend just yet.

Dragon Ball is possibly the franchise most well-known for its tournament arcs, so I get the feeling that Rise will pay homage to it. And since Big Mama is a terrible horrible garbage woman, why not do so by pitting the student against the master? Leo and Splinter will have to fight one another, though I don’t think Big Mama would give either of them a piece of the Armor. No doubt they’ll work together to give the audience a show, Splinter “losing” before Leo can exhaust himself. After all, he has to save his strength for...

5. The Finale!

If Shadow Fiend fought one-on-one, the match would be over too quickly, and Big Mama can’t have that! All four turtles will fight against them. I’m not sure how Raph would factor into this team-up, perhaps his brothers find a way for Host to switch back in, or Savage could start to realize that maybe these “sewer monsters” really don’t mean him any harm.

Hopefully we’ll get some hints as to what Shadow Fiend’s deal is. Is it the Shredder’s spirit under that hood? Is it Big Mama’s mysterious masked assistant? Is it Warren Stone, anchorman extraordinaire and the turtles’ most dastardly foe to date?! Place your bets now, folks!

[7:27] This show, as I probably will state a lot over the course of this blog, is so fucking surreal when you step back a  bit and think about it. A Lego stone army resurrected by an evil-world devouring snake’s venom in cars that can drive straight up a steep incline chasing after technicolour Lego ninjas, with four of them clinging onto a mecha suit that the fifth’s piloting, which was made by the fifth’s sister because she’s cool like that, and the mecha suit is somehow climbing up the incline as well to get to the Temple of Light so four out of the five ninja around the suit can get their powers back because the villain stole their power-granting weapons to kill the snake and then turn into a mega weapon, and that snake’s venom brought the Lego stone army to l

[7:23] And one of the soldiers has grabbed onto the mech’s leg! Okay.

[7:03] It’s a miracle that nobody has fallen off at this point.

E3 2019 Nintendo Direct - BREAKDOWN

Oh wow. That big ol direct sure was something. So now I’m here to break down everything that happened in unnecessary fashion and give my personal reaction to everything that happened with my tried and true Excitement Rater. Want to see my heavily scientific and not at all arbitrary process? Then click down to see the deets.

Before we kick off my (very very scientific) breakdown of this year’s packed direct, I thought I’d briefly go over how I rate things:

A random string of letters/numbers = Immeasurable excitement

YEEHAW BABEY = Big excitement

Heck Yeck = Vague excitement

Yeah! = Not really excited, but still could be good

Sure, why not? = I’m more confused than excited but sure

Oh = The excitement isn’t there

Oh no = Used on the rare occasion I really don’t like what I’ve seen

The Hero from the Dragon Quest series in Smash!

After a brief montage of some games that already came out I guess, the direct jumps straight into an ominous shot of World of Light baddie Dharkon, followed by a seemingly hopeless fight between Link and one very possessed Marth. Then the Luminary turns up gloriously on his horse. With all the leaks that had been flying around for so long, I think pretty much everyone had accepted the presence of Dragon Quest at this point and I was totally stoked when this happened! I love Dragon Quest! And my boi from 11 is here, along with a few other DQ veterans as alt swaps and a pretty awesome looking stage overlooking what seems to be the land of Erdrea and the World Tree. Now to wait until summer and hope the Smash team have some sick ass remixes for us when the time comes!

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition

In a move that makes it a lil obvious that DQ’s Smash addition was more than a little commercially minded (not that I really care I’m still big hyped), a trailer for the expanded edition of the series’ latest installment follows. Seeming as I’ve already played this, I doubt I’ll be picking it up again but I still heartily recommend the game to any JRPG fan. Admittedly, the fact you apparently get to explore worlds from past games is pretty exciting.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

In a way I thought was surprising, Nintendo’s first proper focus of Luigi’s Mansion 3 actually took up more time than Animal Crossing, but I guess that’s because it’s further along in development. We now know that the game is set within a haunted hotel and had some new gameplay features shown off, including the various ways Luigi can succ a ghost. Most exciting I think for me was the various multiplayer aspects, such as the local co-op option to play as Gooigi and the seemingly challenge and minigame-based ‘Scarescraper’ which I think incorporates online co-op too. Overall, this is looking to be a creative and well thought out entry in the series and I’m here for it.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance - Tactics

A licensed tie-in game for a thirty year old film feels a little odd, but I suppose stranger things have happened. This looks to be a sort of top-down tactical thingy involving the various characters from The Dark Crystal and for some reason Netflix is involved, I don’t know, but I guess it could be interesting.

ER: Sure, why not?

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

The adorable remake of this classic Game Boy title seems to be coming along great and this direct’s extended trailer gave us a good look at what we’ll be exploring come September 20th. The overhaul Koholint Island has had is phenomenal, giving us designs for Link and various other characters that we’ve never seen before and that makes this remake look especially unique. Another very exciting aspect for me was the dungeon builder that looks like great fun! You collect different dungeon parts as you go and then you can build and explore your own! Am I a goblin child or does that sound like the best thing ever?

Trials of Mana / Collection of Mana

I’ll admit I’m not really familiar with the Mana series, but from what I was shown in this direct, it looks to be a fairly standard JRPG. That’s definitely not a bad thing, as most JRPGs are amazing, but nothing in this trailer really stood out and came into its own. That being said, the gameplay and graphics look pretty solid and I’m sure the Mana fans have been fairly starved for content for a while so that’s something to look forward to. On top of this remake/new game with the same title as an older game (I really don’t know), the Collection of Mana containing the series’ first three games is being released real soon on the eShop.

ER: Yeah!

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

Following a few scattered rumours, we finally have confirmation that a Witcher 3 port is in fact in the works, coming packed with all the game’s DLC. This basically legendary RPG is not one I personally had a great experience with, but I’m sure a lot of people are gonna be happy to play this in handheld. I’d keep expectations tempered however, with the likes of Assassin’s Creed 3 and Saints Row the Third proving that these ports don’t always function brilliantly on this platform.

ER: Yeah!

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Yet another and probably our last Fire Emblem trailer was shown in this direct, giving us a better look at how the story might play out and what our villains are going to be. With most of the gameplay features explored in the previous February direct, it’s good to have a slightly better idea as to what’s actually going on in terms of story and, to me, the results seem pretty damn good. Definitely one to keep an eye on!

Resident Evil

In a slightly unnecessarily convoluted advert, we were given a two minute reel of two teenagers playing the original RE in tabletop mode in an abandoned house (??), along with the kind of less than exciting announcement that we’re getting the two weakest entries in the series for Switch, RE 5 and 6. I probably wasn’t the only one who felt a little passive about this whole thing. That being said, definitely not complaining about 1 & 4 being ported over.

ER: Oh

No More Heroes III

After the very slightly disappointing Travis Strikes Again, I really wasn’t expecting them to drop a trailer for the series’ third mainline installment so soon after. What we’ve seen looks pretty much like classic Travis, with a smidge of gameplay seen that looks just a bit more like what we’re used to. Of course, with this being the first reveal, there’s still a lot to find out but this looks very promising.

Contra: Rogue Corps / Contra: Anniversary Collection

I’m not gonna pretend to be familiar with the Contra series, but this doesn’t at all look like what I’ve seen in the past. Honestly, this seemingly tactical shooter didn’t elicit much excitement from me and neither did its rushed character drops or its oddly rough textures. I’m unsure of actual fan reactions to this, but in my mind this one kind of sits in the ‘guess this exists’ category. As well as this, we got a shadowdrop for the Contra Anniversary Collection, whereas Rogue Corps comes on September 24th.

ER: Oh

Daemon X Machina

In what seems to be almost a mainstay in Nintendo directs, we’ve got another vague trailer for this mech shooter that finally has a confirmed release date of September 13th. The gameplay looks harmless enough, with the mechs seeming to be a blast to pilot, but beyond that, I can’t really see a lot of substance that would draw me in beyond the cool robots. I’m sure it could be good, but not really one for me.

ER: Yeah!

Panzer Dragoon

I was completely unsure of what this one was, but it looks a bit like a cross between The Last Guardian and those bullet hell sections from Kingdom Hearts 2. They’ve certainly nailed the smooth graphics and the cool looking creatures, but this one is mostly a case of needing to know more.

ER: Yeah!

Pokemon Sword & Shield

This one’s obviously a title so monumental that it consistently needs its own directs, but there wasn’t any *real* news about it in this direct. We were given a brief explanation as to how the Pokeball Plus works in conjunction with the games (something to do with taking your Pokemon for a walk) and the fact that we’ll see more gameplay during Nintendo’s Treehouse streams. Still, excitement remains pretty high for these titles.

Astral Chain

This game, to put it bluntly, looks awesome. The newest Platinum Games IP seems to be set in Blade Runneresque futuristic city with an alien threat and some cool ass looking fighting police people. Our second proper look at this game has cleared up a few murky doubts as to what exactly is supposed to be happening, so now we’ve got a much better idea of what this game is going to be. The story seems pretty full and polished, the gameplay looks like brilliant fun and I’m definitely not mad at the cool monster designs. This is one I’m definitely watching.

Empire of Sin

I know very little about what this game is supposed to be, but it looks to be a 40s gangster XCOM, substituting alien fighting marines with gun toting mafia dudes. The trailer went for style over substance, giving us an edgy visual thing of some burning playing cards and broken bottles, but the little gameplay we saw looked decent enough and may just end up injecting more variety into this genre.

ER: Yeah!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

An obvious pick for any Marvel fan, this hack-and-slash is jam packed with various heroes and villains from the comic series’ rich history. Ghost Rider and Elektra were among those revealed to be playable, while the likes of Mysterio, Hela, the Destroyer, Doctor Octopus, Surtur and MODOK are seemingly part of growing cast of villains. Looks like a good bit of fun if nothing else, though the immediate presence of a season pass is a tiny red flag.

Cadence of Hyrule

In an unexpected but greatly welcomed crossover between Nintendo’s RPG titan Zelda series and the indie developed Crypt of the Necrodancer, a new rhythm based dungeon crawler with some brand new Zelda remixes and the presence of Link and Zelda as playable characters. This game’s retro graphics look totally adorable and the addition of the Gohmaracas were a definite highlight.

Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

Tell you what, this definitely looks like a Mario and Sonic Olympic Games game. There looks to be a decent amount of variety in terms of what sports are involved and with its online multiplayer, there’s no shortage of vaguely cartoon sportyness to be had with friends both real and virtual. I’d be lying if I said I was totally disinterested because it does look a bit fun, but we all know it won’t be anything groundbreaking.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

In a fairly drastic formula change, Nintendo have decided to strand us on a desert island rather than move us innocently to another village, but Tom Nook is still here and oh yes he’s coming to collect his bells. From this surprisingly brief trailer, most of Animal Crossing’s core gameplay seems to be intact, with the return of craftable items from Pocket Camp, and the sudden bombshell that the game has been pushed back to March next year. Never going to be a bad thing if the finished product is all the better for it, but I guess that just means more info is to come!

Highlight Reel

In what looks like a list of honourable mentions, Nintendo gave us a laundry list of other titles coming to the system:

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is joining Crash on the Switch with his acclaimed remaster trilogy.

Hollow Knight: Silksong, the prequel to the original game, looks just as charmingly dark as its predecessor.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is showing up I guess, but I’ll come out and say I know nothing about it except that it looks cute.

Minecraft Dungeons looks better than it has any right to be and looks a bit like blocky Diablo I guess

The Elder Scrolls: Blades sure exists and I’m unsure of what it’s trying to be, but whatever quells off the need for Elder Scrolls 6 I guess.

My Friend Pedro, another strangely unique title from Devolver Digital, looks like it somehow incorporates banana peels into its combat system.

Doom Eternal looks like Doom always does, but a distinct lack of gameplay may put its dual release with the other consoles into question.

The Sinking City with its Lovecraftian inspiration looks totally brilliant and looks to be a unique experience for sure, so eyes firmly open for this one

Wolfenstein Youngblood definitely looks all Wolfenstein-y, but rumours of Dishonored-like sandbox levels has definitely piqued my interest.

Dead by Daylight still looks unfortunately a bit eh, with its slightly not great graphical quality from what we’ve seen in the trailers.

Alien Isolation was an extremely odd one, but I’m not gonna say no to more good horror content on the console.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles seems to be continually delayed, but they’ll probably get round to it eventually.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 looks adorable and I’m very into the idea of Dragon Quest Minecraft, so sign me up.

Stranger Things 3: The Game looks a little more SNES-like in terms of graphics than its 8 Bit mobile predecessor, which is definitely a decent step. An obvious pick for fellow fans of the show.

Just Dance 2020 is definitely a Just Dance game. Yep, sure is. I even checked. And it is.

Catan is a tabletop game of sorts, but I really couldn’t figure out what kind from that few seconds of vague footage.

New Super Lucky’s Tale looks like Bubsy, but actually good and worth real money

Dauntless looks like a bit of a Monster Hunter clone, but you know, doesn’t look terrible.

And lastly, Super Mario Maker 2 was tacked on the end there to remind us all that Nintendo is taking our money in 2 weeks.

Banjo-Kazooie become Smash Ultimate’s 3rd DLC Fighter

Just when we all petering out a little and the hype seemed all but dormant, they go and drop this on us out of nowhere. While I personally don’t have an attachment to the bear and bird, I’m fully aware of their significance and how much they mean to a lot of people out there. And that excitement ended up being contagious, so this fact coupled with a pitch perfect reveal trailer has got me hugely hyped to see these guys join the fight come autumn.

Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

And now, dear reader, for the reveal that removed my scalp and cut out my eyeballs. At first, I was totally confused as to what this could be. And then I recognised the symbols, and then my perfect lil Hyrule eggs come on the screen and it’s all spooky and there’s dead Ganondorf and I don’t clock the fact that I’ve just screamed out loud. A direct sequel to my absolute favourite game of all time is happening and it’s real and I get to live another adventure in the best game world ever crafted all over again. I think it’s safe to say I have transcended the definition of hype when it comes to this one.

ER: AAA!!! AA!!! GFFGF!!! THIS!!! ZELDA!!!! HGGGG!!!!

So there’s my probably a little stupid breakdown of everything Nintendo bestowed upon us this E3. Guess I’ll jump in after the next direct to give you yet another heavily scientific analysis of its events. Or I’ll babble at you until I start punching the keyboard. Either way, happy trails my dudes. Don’t let the hype bugs bite.

voltron as interpreted by someone who has never watched it

Like ok, voltron is one of those things wheren even if you haven't watched it, you will inevitably know about it through floods of tumblr gifs. Kinda like how every non-GoT fan is like "yeah idk there's an angry dwarf and also everyone wants the blonde dragon lady with the meme name to sit on the chair".

So anyway from what I have been able to glean, voltron is some mech version of a highschool sports anime, with mech thingies called lions for whatever reason, and all the requisite drama about friendship and teamwork and people wanting to leave The Squad every now and then bc they feel useless or something, but everyone makes inspirational motivational speeches to keep him. Also matt holt is the new bby of the fandom when I swear bby status used to be pidge's (and he's this tiny nerd everyone wanted to be trans I think) and also they are brothers.

Aand oh yeah this princess called allura shows up and everyone's surprisingly chill about that, like in other fandoms people would be disliking her for breaking up the popular mlm slash ship? Idk. I guess the fandom is more focused on how this not-anime guy with some anime name of Shiro must totally be a clone bc he looks worse now. And Shiro is shipped with Keith, except that's a little weird to me bc my dad's name is Keith but whatever.

Also there's some universe's-chewtoy tragic bishie guy called Prince Lotor, who is apparently some kind of purple Zuko.

Oops (Final Effect AU Snippet)

Once upon a time, there were some horrible creatures called the Others by some people and White Walkers by other people. They were a thoroughly detestable lot, bringing deep winters upon their enemies, slaughtering everybody, and then bringing them back from the dead as wights in need of a good dismembering and burning.

Left to their own devices, the Others would most likely annihilate the living denizens of their world who were caught up in their own petty struggles for a throne made of swords that wasn’t even comfortable to sit on.

And then stuff happened.

And by stuff happening, it was more along the lines of an Imperial siege mech crash-landing on the planet after a little accident involving a lot of alcohol, a drunk pilot, and an even drunker hamster. Oh, and there may or may not have been at least three drunk Asari and a drunk Quarian involved too.

Because reasons.

“Uh…” the Dia-Farron rubbed her head. “My head…”

On her lap, her hamster made the hamster equivalent of a groan before hopping up onto a console and making several panicked squeaks.

“What? We teleported onto a planet somehow? And there are… zombie thingies killing everyone?” The Dia-Farron blinked. “And we’re not alone either.” She glanced out the window. Lying on the snow were four of her squad mates, minus their mechs. “Well, crap.” She blinked blearily and gave a mental command for the nanites in her blood to begin purging all of the alcohol. “Might as well do something while we’re here then.”

The siege mech rose to its full height and scanned the battlefield acquiring targets.

White Walkers were deadly foes who wielded monstrous magic. Only weapons of dragon glass or Valyrian steel could harm them.

Or not.

It turned out that the heavy-calibre explosive rounds fired by one of the smallest guns on the siege mech was more than enough to reduce a White Walker and everything around it for ten yards into a substance not unlike superheated plasma. 

It also turned out that firing several thousand of those rounds per minute was a pretty good way to get rid of an army of wights and White Walkers.

“Wow…” the Dia-Farron shrugged. “Those things kind of suck at fighting. I mean… that was one of the little guns. We didn’t even get to use any of the fun stuff. Maybe we should give the plasma throwers a try next time? Gigantic clouds of plasma are always fun.”

The hamster squeaked in agreement before pointing out the obvious.

“Yeah, we should probably do something about those four.” The Dia-Farron checked the mech’s inventory. “Good. We’ve got backup suits of power armour they can use. The local lifeforms seem to favour swords and other pointy weapons, so power armour should take care of that. We’ll just wake them up, have them suit up, and I guess we can keep on killing these things until help arrives.”

Jon peered through the spyglass. There was a giant metal… thing killing all of the wights and White Walkers. Even as he watched, it unleashed a cloud of flame that dwarfed anything that Dany’s dragons were capable of. Indeed, several miles of the landscape simply vanished. 

Had the gods sent this creature to help them? If not, what were they going to do when it turned on them?
