Here's some positivity towards people with medical devices that others view as "gross", or "shouldn't be seen in public". It's bullshit the way this gets treated and I want more positivity about it, so I'm making it myself.
People with catheters. People with stoma bags. People with feeding tubes. People who have tubing or medical alterations they can't hide. People who otherwise have medical devices which are deemed "not socially acceptable" and "gross".
Your medical devices deserve to take up space. We should not be made to feel ashamed for devices which keep us alive. We should not be made to feel insecure for the ways our bodies function and the assistance we need to live. You deserve to be yourself, you deserve to exist in public as a disabled person, and you deserve to be accepted and celebrated as yourself, medical devices included.

DONT take a persons medical device
I shouldn’t have to say that but here we are
One of the managers at work likes to take and hide peoples stuff as a joke. My manager took my pulse ox when I wasn’t looking. When I noticed it was gone I started to panic. A pulse ox is minimum $30 and I’ve had mine for over 7 years and have named it. So yeah I was panicking. I immediately paged my manager to my register and when he arrived I demanded it back. He did give it back.
I informed him that it was stupid and dangerous of him to take a medical device from someone especially like that.
So again
DONT TAKE A PERSONS MEDICAL DEVICE

what the fuck
I didn’t even know transabled people are a thing wtf. This is disgusting?? Listen up-yall don’t want to experience every day pain. Some of yall romanticize disability that is disgusting?? I am disabled and I would do anything to be able. Walking is not a possibility for me without excruciating pain so the fact that people would genuinely want to give away their ability to do what we as disabled people can’t? That’s disgusting. Being disabled is not something I wanted to have to deal with. Given the choice I would do anything to go back. The fact that yall would do anything to give away your health like that just so you can experience staying. At home with bedsores all day?? Unbelievable

Ron Irby expected the artificial knee implanted in his right leg in September 2018 would last two decades — perhaps longer.
Yet in just three years, the Optetrak implant manufactured by Exactech in Gainesville, Florida, had worn out and had to be replaced — a painful and debilitating operation.
“The surgery was a huge debt of pain paid over months,” said Irby, 71, a Gainesville resident and retired medical technologist with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Irby is one of more than 1,100 patients suing Exactech after it began recalling artificial knees, hips, and ankles, starting in August 2021. A letter Exactech sent to surgeons blamed a packaging defect dating back as far as 2004 for possibly causing the plastic in a knee component to wear out prematurely in about 140,000 implants.
Many patients argue in hundreds of lawsuits that they have suffered through, or could soon face, challenging and risky operations to replace defective implants that failed.
Although Exactech does not offer an express warranty on its products, the company stresses the durability of its implants in advertising, even suggesting they likely will outlive their human recipients. (Read more at link)

Gonna be serious for a moment and say that medical devices should not be dependent on internet or electrical outlets. It's bad design. Why? Because God forbid a natural disaster happens and you lose power, what do you do then if you're dependent on those devices to stay alive altogether? "Just make sure it's always fully charged" you don't know how long natural disasters knock out power for. It can be for weeks if not months in worse case scenarios. Sometimes governments enable rolling blackouts to save on power. Medical devices can and should be battery powered

Don’t apologize or censor yourself for being disabled.
Don’t apologize to someone who had to wait to hold a door for you, instead thank them for taking the time to do so.
Don’t apologize to someone who offered you a mask from their car when you forgot yours, thank them for offering the mask.
You don’t have anything to apologize for by existing.
Don’t hide your disability just because someone says its triggering.
You deserve just as much space at this table as anyone else, and it is a fact of your life.  Embrace it.  You get one go at this, so make this go count.
Wear that fun scarf, put stickers on your wheelchair, get a cool case for a device.  If people are allowed to put whatever they please on backpacks, jackets, cars, or even their houses, why not your stuff?  It is your stuff after all.
Never apologize for being exactly who you are.

In many synagogues, last week's Torah portion described the joyful ceremony to be performed when bringing the first fruits of the season to the Temple in Jerusalem. So it is very appropriate to read how fruitful Israelis have recently been with innovative medical devices and new treatments. Israeli programs are bearing fruit to benefit the elderly in Spain, Ethiopian-Israeli immigrants, Arab fish farmers, Middle East businesswomen, New York Search & Rescue teams, America's Historically Black colleges and three African countries. We are seeing Israeli scientific breakthroughs come to fruition in producing sustainable fuels and recycling plastics. The high number of Israeli Unicorn (billion-dollar) companies shows how fruitful Israeli entrepreneurs have become, and the seeds for future successes are being planted with new investments into the hi-tech sector.  I cannot explain, however, as to what has caused Israel to suddenly blossom at so many international sports. Finally, Israel's commitment to its children resulted in one Israeli girl overcoming cancer to become fruitful as a mother. The photo is of grapes growing on a wild vine adjacent to my local children's playground in Netanya.
