Castle lovers, another castle house has dropped in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota. Built in 1940 and on the market over 2 mos., it’s been reduced $491K to $1.999M. The entire stone structure was quarried onsite.
This is really castle-like w/it’s stone and wood construction.
It’s interesting to see how each castle owner perceives how it should look. This has beautiful ceilings, corbels, and a modern window going across the whole wall in the living room.
I wouldn’t want to be the one to fill this up. Geesh.
I like the stone floors in here. I’m beginning to think that they used the corbels to simulate the crenellated top row of stones on a wall or tower -The merlons (raised section) and crenets (gaps).
I like the stone arches in the kitchen, but can’t help feeling that it stands alone from the rest of the rooms.
A pantry is off to the side.
Through the pantry is an isolated dining area.
If this is the main bd., it’s a weird place to put the bed. There are 4 bds. in the home.
There’s a nice modern patio on the water, along the side of the house.
According to the description, you can subdivide the land, if you want to.
