Spiritual discipline is what awakens us to divine reality, not belief.
Gnosis signifies knowledge from experience. Gnosticism, as a field of study, pertains to all the ancient schools of mysteries from both East and West, whose scriptures encompass the practical science of awakening consciousness. Gnosis is not isolated to the first Christians, but permeates all times, cultures, and spaces, for while consciousness is universal, the means of expressing such experiential wisdom of the divine is temporal and idiosyncratic to the language, mentality, and needs of a particular society.
Gnosis is what we have verified through experience and experimentation, predicated upon practical methods and personal effort. It is never the product of a belief system, of adopting a religious or mystical attitude, demeanor, or behavior. It is never achieved through attendance, adherence to, or acceptance from a group, by believing in doctrine or creed. It is the flowering and natural unfolding of the soul, which is created and developed when the proper causes and conditions have been met.
Just as there are laws that govern the physical universe, so too are there spiritual laws, causes, and methods to originate the soul: the awakening of the consciousness.
Therefore, the Greek term γνῶσις gnosis is synonymous with genuine faith. Faith has nothing to do with belief, with accepting or rejecting a concept in the mind or upholding a sentiment in the heart. Faith is what we know from facts, from witnessing and understanding reality. Belief takes no effort to foster or develop, whereas the awakening of consciousness and divine experience requires tremendous discipline and the application of spiritual works.

Today, a brief exploration of the history, providing background on a key book of the Sant Mat tradition of India: The Anurag Sagar (Kabir's Ocean of Love). Then there are spiritual satsang discourses based upon this book and related texts on the journey of the soul through the heavens back to God and the meditation practice of the Masters (Surat Shabd Yoga: Bhakti of the Inner Light and Sound). Find out, as best as we can research this rare history, who wrote the Anurag Sagar; what group originally published and circulated it for many generations; how it was also inherited, preserved, and valued as an essential scripture by Sat Saheb, Sant Dariya Sahib of Bihar, Sant Tulsi Sahib of Hathras, then more recently in Radhasoami: Swami Ji Maharaj of Agra, Baba Jaimal Singh, Hazur Baba Sawan Singh, and then spiritual Masters up to the living present.

Self-care
If you're unable to afford therapy, there are several self-care practices and resources you can explore to support your mental and emotional well-being. Here are some strategies that may be helpful:
Mindfulness and Meditation:
Practice mindfulness meditation to increase self-awareness and reduce stress.
Use mindfulness apps like Headspace, Calm, or Insight Timer for guided meditation.
Physical Exercise:
Engage in regular physical activity, such as walking, jogging, yoga, or dancing.
Exercise helps release endorphins and promotes a sense of well-being.
Creative Outlets:
Explore creative activities like painting, writing, or playing a musical instrument.
Expressing yourself creatively can serve as a form of emotional release and self-exploration.
Social Support:
Foster connections with friends, family, or support groups.
Sharing your feelings and experiences with others can provide emotional validation and understanding.
Journaling:
Write down your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a journal.
Journaling can help you process emotions and gain insights into your mental state.
Healthy Lifestyle Habits:
Maintain a balanced diet, prioritize regular sleep, and reduce the consumption of alcohol and recreational substances.
Establishing healthy lifestyle habits contributes to overall well-being and emotional stability.
Online Resources:
Utilize online mental health resources and communities for support and guidance.
Websites like 7 Cups, BetterHelp, and TherapyTribe offer online support and resources.
Self-Help Books and Podcasts:
Read self-help books or listen to podcasts focused on mental health and personal development.
Resources like "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" by Edmund Bourne or podcasts like "The Hilarious World of Depression" can offer insights and coping strategies.
Set Boundaries and Prioritize Self-Compassion:
Establish healthy boundaries in your personal and professional life to avoid emotional burnout.
Practice self-compassion and avoid self-judgment, allowing yourself to acknowledge and accept your feelings without harsh criticism.
While self-care practices can be helpful for some periods of time, it's essential to seek professional help if you're experiencing severe or persistent mental health challenges. Many therapists offer sliding scale fees or pro bono services, and some community organizations provide free mental health support. Don't hesitate to reach out for assistance when needed.

Survivor Guilt (2014) by Ron Padgett
In Episode 310, Rachel shares a poem guilty of being simply too good!
Rachel: The poet James Tate wrote: “Ron Padgett's poems sing with absolutely true pitch, and they are human-friendly. Their search for truths both small and large can be cause for laughter or at least a thoughtful sigh.” Which is exactly the kind of poet that I'm looking typically to bring to Wonderful. You know. Uh, a poet from a human.
Griffin: You did bring that dog poet one time—
Rachel: [laughs]
Griffin: —which I thought was... interesting?
Rachel: Bark... bark, bark, bark. Bark.
Griffin: I carry it in my bark.
I was gonna add a personal comment as usual, until I found this quote by Ron Padgett, that seems to have been made almost specifically for Rachel and Griffin: “Survivor Guilt is not about feeling bad about watching Survivor (the T.V. show). It’s about fickleness (a word we don’t hear much anymore). Plus ça change…”
If you'd like to hear about Ron directly soliciting poems from well-known authors to publish in his literary magazine and succeeding to do so all while still being in highschool, you can do so here: Body Burn, from 5:23 - 12:43

We are initiating a new course on The Voice of the Silence, an ancient manual of esoteric instruction. This work was translated by the eminent Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society, whose scholarly and spiritual achievements cannot be easily estimated. This brief mystical text is a collection of fragments from The Book of the Golden Precepts, an obscure and rich scripture from which The Secret Doctrine was inspired.
The Voice of the Silence was not fully translated, since it would have required Blavatsky many years just to organize her documents, let alone translate the work in its totality. She also mentioned that much of this scripture is too sacred and profound to be understood by her students. This is a powerful statement, one that should not be overlooked. This guide, she said, is for serious practitioners who are awakening consciousness.
Although The Voice of the Silence is brief, it is dense, and therefore difficult to interpret. As with any deep work, it requires an awakening consciousness to decipher, apply, and realize. Despite the brevity of this work, it synthesizes the entire path to liberation. This is no small feat.
The origins and translation of this work has often been contested and disputed. However, the Panchen Lama affirmed its authenticity. In case you do not know, the Panchen Lama is second in command to the Dalai Lama within the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. As he stated in 1925:
It is the “only true exposition in English of the Heart Doctrine of the Mahayana and its noble ideal of self-sacrifice for humanity.” ―The Panchen Lama (1925)

i really enjoy listening to game studies study buddies, but as with all media that you're actively engaging with, there are definitely times where i'm like. guys. come on.
like in the episode where they read The Games Black Girls Play by Kyra Gaunt, there's a point where while they do articulate that whiteness establishes itself through difference-- the idea that it is whatever the Other isn't-- they struggle to identify ways that whiteness reduplicates itself in the same way that culture might be carried or embodied through the sorts of music or cultural rituals that reduplicate or carry Black identity forward
And the obvious answer there is that it’s the Dominant cultural force, and one the colonizes and assimilates. The hallmarks of white culture are founded in its ability to consume and assign value. Any culturally distinct work has its edges sanded off and is reproduced as vague signifiers of the Noble West
you also see the regurgitation of ideas like Inheritors of Noble Traditions/Classic Culture points, with emphasis on things like ancient Greek and Roman art and mythology and the evocation and reduplication of their associated symbols. The Louvre is literally constructed around The Winged Victory of Samothrace in a manner that beats visitors over the head over the cultural inheritance of Victory and Artistic Mastery and Western Ideals etc etc
any cultural marker of whiteness reemphasizes Othering and Domination, while also incorporating the aesthetic markers of any culture that is subject to such treatment
anyway I could go on about cinema and the examples of westerns and zombie movies, but in the first place this tangent is a bit removed from my primary criticism, which is that even in an episode that is focused on a book written by a Black woman about the games Black girls play and the social and cultural significance of those games for Black girls and Black women, the conversation inevitably circled back to whiteness
perhaps that's inescapable when you have two white people discussing the text, but that does bring the conversation around to whether it would have been more appropriate to bring a Black woman (or a panel of Black women) on for that episode to speak on the text.
that being said, as a white person myself, it always feels a bit too self-congratulatory to sit back and criticize discussions of race without paying mind to the opinions of impacted community members. unfortunately, I haven't been able to find much discussion, but I may be looking in the wrong places

Evolving Spiritually - The Wisdom of Kabir - Spiritual Awakening Radio - Sant Mat Satsang Podcast
Tumblr media
"Life is a progression. We progress from childhood to adulthood, from simplicity to complexity, from ignorance to knowledge, from innocence to wisdom and from birth to death. It is the law of life. But there is also a progression from the external life to the internal, from the hustle and bustle of material life to the serenity and silence of internal life. It is in the latter that we experience the beauty of the Self and its connection with Divinity." (Dr. Jagessar Das, Doctor by Chance - Mystic by Choice, also translator of, The Complete Bijak of Guru Kabir, and other translations of Kabir)
