Today’s #dailycalm #meditation was all about appreciation of our teachers, those who have guided and taught us throughout all our years. 🧠 Sending loving kindness and well-wishes to people in our meditations is akin to prayer. I think there is more than satisfactory evidence that our thoughts can be transmitted out into the world, even if we don’t entirely know the mechanism of how it works. Couples send each other thoughts, people get “vibes” from the groups around them, etc. Figuring out how to harness the sending positive energy and well-wishes to those we care about is a skill that meditation can be a part of. 👨🏻‍🏫👩🏼‍🏫 And who better to send them to than people who’ve guided us throughout our lives. Teachers have given us knowledge, encouraged our progress, cared, and shown us the way to move forward positively in our lives. I think we all know teachers who’ve tried to help us and took a special interest in us. Very interesting @calm #meditation today as we talked about the Sanskrit word #sangha - or community. It’s a sort of “strength in numbers” concept for #meditators, where we are empowered by meditating with other people. It’s still a separate practice, as meditation is a solo activity, but the presence of others can’t help but rub off on us. 🧘🏻‍♂️🧘🏼‍♂️🧘🏽‍♂️🧘🏾‍♂️🧘🏿‍♂️ This is one I’ve never tried per se. While I have meditated briefly at the end of a yoga class and things like that, meditating in groups is a new one for me. I have supportive communities around me for my #meditationpractice, like the #morningcoach community. But actually doing it with others in the room isn’t something I’ve done. I’m curious as to whether you feel self-conscious, more supported, or what. ⛩ So I’m throwing this one out to you guys: have you ever done a group meditation? Have you ever experienced sangha?
