It was a usual Saturday afternoon in the Devildom, but instead of spending it away with the Demon brothers, you spent it preparing for your departure. Sitting in your room going through everything you’ve collected during your extended stay in the Devildom, whilst everyone else dealt with Lucifer scolding them about how the house needed to be spotless before "the special guests" arrived for dinner, the special guests being Diavolo, Barbatos and the other three exchange students who were also to return back to their respectful realms the following day.
You never thought this day would come, but yet it rushed in and hit you like an oncoming train. Except that your heart was the part of your body left wounded, and only continued to hurt as you held each and every one of the precious items between your hands, then continuing to lightly set it into the box at your side.
Despite Lucifer's strict orders, you met each one of them at your room door bearing more gifts.
Except for Leviathan…
He'd avoided you all day, and yet you had no clue as to why.
Only he wasn't trying to intentionally ignore you. Why would he avoid his soulmate? The only one that made him feel truly special.
The fact that you were there for almost as long as his feelings and yet you were still left unaware of how he felt about you. He knew that you were to leave any day, but now it was only an amount of hours before your departure.
Tonight was your last night in the Devildom… and he still hadn’t built the courage up to tell you his feelings. He couldn't even bear to look at you, only making anger swell within him.
He wanted to do it whilst you were alone, and right then seemed like the perfect timing, only the constant doubts filled his mind pushing him to do it later.
"Later" being at dinner, since time had gotten away, and this only enhanced his feelings of anger and remorse. Forcing him to drown them out quite literally, reaching out for the bottle of demonus on the table. Eagerly pouring a glass and taking his first sip, emitting a quiet sigh of relief as the cool substance rushed down his throat feeling that it was already taking effect. Only that by the time he'd finished his second glass the feelings still remained.
"Fuck," Leviathan cursed to himself as he gazed into the glass of demonus in front of him, as if he could find the courage and confidence he needed. Instead he just found his reflection staring back at him.
Now there was a full audience, and his opportunity vanished just as quickly as it appeared. His main goal was to not let his words stutter anywhere in his confession, and admitting his feelings in front of not only his brothers, but also the future King of Devildom was a sure way to let that happen.
Sometimes even showing physical affection towards you was difficult. He would often blush as he pulled you in for cuddles on movie night, or as he dragged his hand along your cheek. Never had he verbally said it. Only one time, two months ago did he whisper the words.
“I think I love you.” Without intent for you to hear it whilst you were helping him pick out clothes at Majolish. Though by now he knew for sure, and needed to actually tell you clearly.
If only he had someone in his ear encouraging him to let it out, and to boost his ego. All that he had was himself, which he had chosen because he didn't want anyone to know how he felt about you… at least not yet anyway.
Even after the countless cups of strong drink, he still didn’t have the courage or the strength to meet your gaze.
Though you were watching him, you saw his eyes slightly gleam through the transparent glass of the cup.
Only glancing up for a split second, he caught you looking at him from across the table, hurrying to gulp down the substance before the two of you could lock eyes. Peeking behind the floral centerpiece, you watched as he drank glass after glass of demonus, by the time dinner was served he’d had at least five glasses. As many times you sat at this dinner table, not once have you seen him drink this much.
And you weren’t the only one that noticed his excessive consumption.
Lucifer had also noticed this, growing just as concerned. He placed a hand on Leviathan's shoulder as he caught him reaching for the bottle for the sixth time that night.
“Is there something wrong, dear brother?” He inquired.
Levi just turned to look at him, not even knowing how to respond to the question.
How was he to tell his elder brother that he had fallen in love with the human exchange student that just so happened to be leaving his arms tomorrow morning?
“I think you’ve had enough demonus for tonight. If you want, we can talk later," Lucifer tells him.
“No, just one more,” Leviathan says to himself.
He tried so desperately to break the bottle free from the eldest brother's grasp, only his hold is stronger than the third born.
Lucifer did not want to make a scene here, especially in front of Diavolo.
“I don’t think you want to defy my orders Leviathan, now let go before you embarrass me in front of Diavolo.” He sternly said, his crimson eyes practically glowing.
Levi’s grip tightened around the neck of the bottle, trying to pry his brother’s fingers off, but with no luck. Eventually letting it fall into Lucifer’s hands. “I’m doing this for your own good,” he assured him.
It took everything Leviathan had, just to keep himself from quarreling with his elder brother. He replayed the whole scene back in his head, particularly the words Lucifer had said once he let him go.
“I’m doing this for your own good”
As far as Leviathan knew, he wasn’t. If it hadn’t been for the demon’s swollen pride then maybe he wouldn’t be questioning his sincerity. A sudden outburst of laughter interrupted his thoughts bringing him back to reality. He quickly turned his gaze to you, hoping that you hadn’t witnessed the tussle between him and the older demon.
You had been caught in conversation with Simeon, but you still kept a close eye on everything that happened across the table. Part of you wanted to cry, assuming that you were the one that caused the whole problem. Asking in your mind, ‘Is it something I did or said to him?’
The sudden outburst of laughter forced him out of his thoughts, quickly glancing up to see where it had come from.
He immediately realized it had come from you, only then did he look across the table. That's when he spotted Simeon's hand on your arm, as you smiled brightly in his face.
He rolled his eyes in annoyance, trying so hard to ignore it. He just couldn't help being bothered by it though. He despised the sight of you beaming at someone that wasn't him, it only made him green with envy and made all of the insecurities that had finally seemed to disappear, but they made their back.
"Maybe I'm not good enough for them… maybe I'm already too late." He thought to himself.
By 7:00pm he felt the effects of the demonus start to deepen, by now the problem was far away from his mind, but so was the confidence he had been hoping to obtain from this.
The evening seemed to drag on, and by the time dinner was over you find Leviathan rushing off to his room. You quietly slip away from the group as well, going up to your own now empty room. Shutting the door and carefully taking a seat on the side of the neatly made bed.
Though you still didn’t know whether you caused Levi’s constant drinking and sullen state, you still felt a surge of guilt. Leaving your second family aside for the one back home already hurt you, and seeing him like this only scarred your heart worse.
You cared deeply about Leviathan, and just leaving him like that would only make you feel guilty when you go back to the human realm. You fight the urge to join him in his room, you knew he needed the time alone. So you decide to continue preparing your things to haul in the morning in order to stay occupied.
You begin to finish what you'd started earlier, moving about the space whilst drinking in every sight and burning it into your mind.
Later that evening, a mound of marked index cards and sticky notes accumulated in the waste bin just meters away as you worked to clean out the small desk in the corner of the room. You shed a single tear, but that tear soon became tears as the events from earlier that evening rushed back to your mind.
That’s when the temptation finally took over you, leading you right to Leviathan’s room door vigorously knocking at it.
Leviathan had been sitting inside of his bathtub just staring into the ocean blue waters of the fishtank searching for the only soul he was comfortable talking to. Henry 2.0 was the only one he knew that wouldn’t tell anyone else about his situation, even if they could. He was in no shape to game with his friends, knowing that they’ll tease him about his situation only finding out through his poor gameplay.
You discover that the door had been unlocked, slowly turning the knob and walking inside. The room was dim, but you easily spotted Leviathan’s figure cast under the aquamarine lighting, headphones resting around his neck.
He was still heavily intoxicated, not even hearing your light footsteps across the floor. It wasn’t until you carefully took a seat down along the edge of the tub. lightly placing a hand on his shoulder that he noticed your presence.
“What’s wrong?” You whispered to him.
He hesitated to answer your question as he was still inside of his head. Forcing himself to not look at the negatives but the positive.
“Better late than never,” he told himself, deciding that he couldn’t put it off any longer.
“MC….” He started, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink. “I lo- love you.” He quickly shifted his gaze over to Henry, who was just now appearing to witness his confession, he just knew it would happen like this. “Now you show up” he gripes to himself.
You clearly saw the disappointed look on his face, only then taking it upon yourself to shift in next to him.
“I wanted to tell you ‘I love you’ for the first time without stuttering, but that failed,” he quietly admitted. When he met your eyes again he could see tears welling in them. “I know I'm a failure"
"Leviathan" you quietly say. "You're like the best friend I've never had, I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. E-everyone just thinks I’m some worthless shut in otaku, but you make me feel… special.” A wave of silence was followed by it, he opted to continue but couldn’t when he noticed your gaze was focused on him.
“Ugh! S-stop looking at me it’s making me uncomfortable” he whined, his demon form emerging.
Leviathan's heart was practically pounding in his chest, his brain felt like it would swell past his skull. He longed for at least a sip of water to quench his thirst, only taking a breath before pushing himself to proceed.
"You make me feel loved, and I can’t imagine being without you"
The words Leviathan had already spoken warmed your heart immensely, along with the fact he shared the same feelings you had towards him. Tears of joy streaked your cheeks, a smile spread across your face.
"It's just not fair…. I don't want you to leave The Devildom"
In all truthfulness you didn’t either, but you knew you didn't have a choice. Your home wasn’t The Devildom, only having been randomly summoned there one day. You knew your friends and family were worried about your sudden disappearance.
You couldn't stay there forever, no matter how much you wanted to.
Not to mention that Diavolo wouldn't permit you to stay, unless there was a significant reason.
"I can't stay… I have friends and family back home too, Diavolo wouldn't let me anyway" you told him, slowly bringing yourself together.
Leviathan began chewing on his lower lip, as he tried to hold back his tears, in all honesty he thought you were rejecting his feelings. Which is exactly what he had feared, beginning to think that this was a complete waste of the effort he’d made.
You spot a tear stream down his cheek, going to wipe it away with your thumb.
“Please don't cry” you whisper, carefully placing a hand over his. That’s when he moved it just out of grasp.
“I shouldn’t have expected for someone like you to love me back” he grumbled.
Your hand crept up to your chest, holding it as if you'd been stabbed directly in the heart.
Why would he think that?
Sometime in the middle of the year you'd considered the relationship between the two of you as "Just Friends" but it had slowly bloomed into something more as time went on.
But just like him, this would've been your first time saying it.
"Leviathan, I do love you" you breathed.
"If you loved me, then you would stay here by my side" he commented.
"Well if you loved me then you wouldn't hold leaving the Devildom against me"
He was stunned by the edge in your voice, the way you looked at him as the words rolled off your tongue.
Only glancing up at you, did he realize your gaze had softened.
“Leviathan, don’t you ever forget that I am always here” you assured him.
He pulled you closer to him, looking directly into your eyes.
"I love you so much, MC" he breathed against your soft, warm lips
The two of you exchange breaths, before Leviathan suddenly captures them in a kiss, his tongue slipping into your mouth almost instantly.
You had been caught off guard, you hadn't expected him to kiss you in such a way. So deep and passionate.
You put your hand behind his head, as you slowly melted into the kiss.
It wasn't the first time you and Leviathan had kissed, but it surely wasn't the millionth either.
He wasn't as experienced as the rest of his brothers, and he knew that he wasn't.
Which is why he usually would only opt for small pecks on the lips, here and there. Though he had finally really kissed you one night whilst you binge watched
anime with him.
It had been only slightly sloppy, and just a little short of a second.
It had been unplanned, just on the spur of the moment. Though he didn't have the confidence nor the courage to continue.
Only this time, he hadn't been insecure about a thing. Especially from the way that you kissed him back.
He slowly pulls away, and you're finally able to catch a breath. You let out a small gasp when Leviathan suddenly pulls you down on top of him wanting to cherish the warmth of your body against him as he continues to pepper you with kisses. Going from your lips, and stopping at your cheek.
You both lay in silence, the only thing to be heard was Leviathan's heavy breathing.
He was busy going over the events of the evening in his head. Thinking about how just hours ago he'd been worried about how the night would end, and how it all worked out perfectly.
It ended exactly how he'd wanted it to, him falling asleep with you in his arms. He looked down at you, running his fingers through your hair.
"I love you MC" he whispered to you for the last time that night before he closed his eyes, letting slumber overcome him.
Your ear was pressed against his chest, listening to the sound of his heart thumping. You noticed the way the rhythm slowly changed as he drifted off to sleep.
You felt at ease listening to the soft sounds of his beating heart and breath, it's true you were leaving tomorrow, but you would see him again someday. For now, you were content in this moment, you had both confessed and now you could enjoy each other's presence in peace.
