Meet the Character

Icarus is a new League of Villains recruit initially recruited by Mr. Compress. His quirk is Angel, allowing him to use his wings as a shield and fly around with them. If he overuses his quirk, they can melt like wax, heavily inspired by the Icarus in Greek mythos. The wax melts back into his skin so that he can grow his wings again.

His real name is Masatoki Saito, and he is Hiro's older brother. There is a five-year age gap between them. He had run away after their mother died, refusing to live with his aunt like Hiro did. He lay low with his dad in his criminal organization for a while. Someone was tipped off about their whereabouts, and he had run away when cops and Pro Heroes were barging in to arrest people. He was homeless for a short period until Mr. Compress found him. It didn't take long for Icarus to be convinced to go with him to the hideout. All he heard was that he got to live there and was asking the masked man to lead the way.

Because his dad was a villain, he didn't see villainy as evil. These were people trying to survive in any way they could because society threw them away. During his stay at the hideout, he has gotten into many confrontations with the villain Dabi over numerous things, including the seafood he ate and the feathers that would be left around. He feared that Dabi would never see him as a comrade and ally.

Icarus is a shield, and even though Dabi doesn't need protection, he takes him along on missions just for a shield. At first, he doesn't see him as a person. Because he can do much for others and loves helping people, Icarus doesn't complain about being used as a shield. He has an affinity for children and, therefore, gets Toga out of trouble quite often, almost acting like a dad to her even though he's in his early twenties. On a patrol one day, he even finds a baby abandoned in an alleyway and takes her home with him. Declaring that he was now the child's dad. This pisses Dabi off the most.

When his brother goes missing, he's the first to find him. Offering him shelter at the hideout against Tomura or Dabi's wishes. He may not have been in his brother's life for long, but he wanted to fix that and make it known that he would be there for him. He was the person in Hiro's corner, even if no one else was in Hiro's corner. After all, he is the big brother.

Meet the OCs part 1: Jadan and Esme!

I'm starting off with some of my oldest OCs, Jadan Sa'al and Esme Ereth. They're the co-protagonists of the Problem Children AU--an everyone-lives-TCW-AU that involves a major motion picture, a chaotic groupchat, Ahsoka trolling people on Space Tumblr, and so so so many sad orphans getting adopted.

But, all that is beside the point. I'm here to talk about my blorbos.

First off, Jadan! Jadan is a Mirialan, 16 years old at the start of the Clone War, and he's Obi-Wan's Padawan. Mirialans are supposed to be trained by Mirialan masters, but due to the extenuating circumstances of the war, an exception is made, and Obi-Wan and Luminara Unduli kind of co-parent Jadan. He's also psychometric. Jadan is the best boy ever. the 212th take one look at him and are like "SON???" even though he's older than most of them.

Esme is a Nightsister who was taken from her people and sold as a slave at a young age; she has slave tattoos in addition to the traditional Nightsister ones. Her time as a slave left lasting physical and emotional scars. Ventress was on a mission from Dooku to "eliminate" a crime lord, when she found a fellow Nightsister among the man's slaves. Ventress freed her and took her on as an apprentice; Esme went along because she had nowhere else to go.

Jadan and Esme first met on Teth, where they confronted each other, while Obi-Wan and Ventress battleflirted. Jadan rolled his eyes at it, only to realize that Esme had done the same.

He laughed a little and she smiled back; they bantered a little.

"As nice as you are, I am going to have to kill you," Esme said regretfully.

"Of course, no worries, I totally get it," he replied, because Jadan is Just Like That.

Thus ensues the duel.

They're friendly enemies for a long time and stubbornly deny that they flirt just as badly as Obi-Wan and Ventress. Then, due to several Situations, Esme, Ventress, and Merrin end up in the Jedi Temple, actually helping the Jedi against Dooku and his mysterious master.

When the war ends, Esme sticks around, as Ahsoka's roommate, and Ahsoka spends her free time trying to get Jadan and Esme to admit their very obvious feelings for each other.

It takes a while.

Here are a few supporting characters from The Hour of Magic that don’t show up until the Correlaine arc of the story (after the main crew leaves Crestwall after the first part of the Great Exchange) or much, much later. These are the characters that best fit this picrew’s aesthetic! 

Mage Warden Mauve of Correlaine

Mauve leads the main magic force of the Correlaine hunters. While all hunters and wardens utilize magic of some kind, Mauve’s hunters specialize in offensive and defensive magic, particularly for monsters that are harder to take down through martial means alone. We’ll meet Mage Warden Mauve at the beginning of the Correlaine arc!

Coinmaster Alise Foxglove of The Blend

How does a world economy stabilize itself a century after a magical apocalypse gives everyone the ability to conjure gold, jewels, and other riches out of thin air? I have no idea. Coinmaster Foxglove does though! She oversees The Divine Trust, the central bank of the Alliance Lands. She is also the inventor of the foxing, the standardized currency of the Alliance. Alise appears at the middle of the novel, when the main crew goes to The Blend, the physical, cultural, and financial center of the Alliance Lands!

Princess Sessilia of Azor

The Azorian Empire was the land struck the hardest by the Hour. A large stretch of their lands are absolutely covered in abyssal wealds, with only small pockets of civilization still surviving outside of the high-walled capital of Azorium. “Princess” Sessilia is the second in command of the Dogs of War, Azor’s most powerful monster fighting guild. Though she is indeed the daughter of Azor’s King Drusus, “princess” is more of a nickname for all the privilege her title actually gets her. There’s no place for idle nobles in Azor when every day is a fight for survival. We hear a lot of whispers about Azor in the first novel, but so far the Dogs of War have only been name-dropped in the first book.

Meet the Character Monday!

Hisatoshi Kaisei

A student in the support course, she is Hiro's best friend. Her quirk is Metal bending, in which she can mold metal with her bare hands, but if she uses it too much, she loses feeling in her fingers, and her hands feel heavy like metal.

She was adopted on a pro-hero patrol; Toxic-Shock found her in an abandoned warehouse. Kaisei loves her mother and has a close relationship with her. She has even bought some Toxic-Shock merchandise when it is occasionally being sold. She does like other pro-heroes, but her mother is the true hero in her eyes. They live in an apartment building close to the center of town. Her mom is her rock and reassures her when she's upset or has a problem she needs help working through.

She met Hiro in junior high; he had chased away two girls who were bullying her and started sitting with her at lunch. Of course, Kaisei has other friends but mostly hangs out with Hiro. Well, her only other friend is Mei from the support course.

Some pro heroes who worked with her mother recommended her to the U.A. hero course program, which she turned down for the support course. Kaisei appreciated what they were doing but intended to do something other than join the hero course and become a pro. She felt her quirk was best suited for the support course and always enjoyed making things.

In school, she joined her volleyball team and continued to play valley ball in the U.A. with others in the support course and general education course. She's very active and continues to stay active. It keeps her from giving in to her despair and wondering if Hiro disappeared because he hated her. It also distracts her from her self-esteem and that little mean voice in her head.

When she graduates, she doesn't join just one hero agency. Instead, she works for any hero she can, making their gear and upgrading what they ask of her. Hiro's disappearance destroys her. She stops at nothing to find him and ensure he has yet to get into worse trouble than he already does. Unlike Hiro, she has strict and intense feelings about villains. As much as society throws them away, they still have done bad things; nothing can take that away. She doesn't see the best in people because of how often she has observed the aftermath of her mother going against villains or overusing her quirk because of villains.

Like a completely normal adult person, after watching the new trolls movie, I obsessively started putting together the brothers' backstory, the deeper reasons for their separation as well as how that all took place without disregarding the fact that they were trapped in the troll tree, which of course evolved into a fic in (forever) progress... yeah

Anyway, even though they aren't actively in the story much, i needed to design the parents, so uh meet Rosiepuff's daughter, Tulip, and her husband Branch.

I designed them based on the brothers' adult looks and in Tulip's case also on her mom's.
