I love it whenever creators of animated shows are given the opportunity to voice act in their own show, and end up playing the silliest little creechur imaginable.
So i was watching centaur world compilations and crying, as one does, and i stumbled upon this gem.
So now i have a new profile pic for everything #Blessed
It's fine if you never watched Centaurworld on Netflix (or otherwise), however, that means you also never experienced the beautiful (Adventure Time-flavored) dichotomy of goofy fun happy laughs and the dark horrible memories of war and nightmares that will never leave you.
The main character (a horse named Horse who single-mindedly seeks a way back to her rider, a human named Rider) is suddenly whisked away from a world of brutal warfare to a fanciful land of magic and earworm sing-alongs, resenting every moment of it and somehow being changed against her will by the compassion thrust upon her by her silly, overly-affectionate new companions.
More than a year post-watch, Centaurworld still leaves me processing. Somehow this story felt like a hundred tales of queer identity; like leaving my conservative, rural upbringing for queer friends in college, tackling some deep-seated fear of vulnerability hidden within me, in a strange dance between fun and happiness vs. serious intellectualism.
Why does this story still haunt me?
Why does it cling to me like the fear of being shunned, and like the answer to a scream I don't remember giving voice to?
Is it neurodivergence? Queerness? Isolation? Theatre? Art? A desperate attachment to analysis as a means of connection? I need to know. I need answers.
Day 27. Pit
Crossover: Centaurworld
If I were Bendy, I'd be screaming too - Comfortable Doug is the scariest character in Centaurworld, including the Nowhere King... Especially in season two as Flat Dallas... uh!
I love Centaurworld. And I must say that I really had a fantastic time making this picture - of which, of course, the main part which I gave the most time (and this is not a joke) is the amazing flora of this world. However, the shading in the serial is strange, so I didn't stick to it strictly - but these pastel colours and their combinations... I needed something like that, pleasing to the eye in my current state.
If anyone doesn't know the series, I highly recommend it. It's great. Although the second season was a bit worse (there are a few things that irritate me, e.g. the unnecessarily prolonged death scene of one of the characters), it is still great. And, ah, I'm counting on some spin-offs in this universum. If anyone has watched Centaurworld, please read my thoughts on the plot and its meaning. I'm proud of them.

" Hush now, hide, all you little ones
Rush now, into the middle of nowhere
Singing and laughter will die
Dreamless sleep, follows the Nowhere King
When his kingdom comes, darkness is nigh "
As Willow's due date closes in, her adverse symptoms intensify. Viney stops in to figure out the situation. Hunter wonders if Belos' ledgers and notebooks on the past grimwalkers could give them some answers.
As the Crystal Ball lit up, so did an image of the baby. Her form looked the same as it had just a few hours ago – but her heart?
A small blue spark rippled through the middle. Beating fast. Then slow. Skipping a beat. Speeding up. Slow again.
Two hearts can’t take this. Flapjack’s wings beat quickly within. Hunter closed his hand around Willow’s. His own heartbeat now taking on the same uneven pattern.
“Arrhythmia.” Viney said softly. “Irregular heartbeat…”
Din sings to Grogu while trapped in a cave. Luke is entranced.
Vocal performance by anupalya (me!). Mando’a translation of original lyrics and dinluke-ification by @snaurus / snarechan on ao3. Melody and original lyrics from Rider’s Lullaby as heard in Centaurworld, written by Megan Nicole Dong and performed by Jessie Mueller. Instrumental (karaoke version of the original song) used for this recording from here. Big, BIG thanks to my friends who helped with the editing (you know who you are <3).
This is a musical illustration of/Mando'a cover inspired by a scene from Chapter 5 of The Start, by @snaurus, in which Din sings the Mando'a version of Rider's Lullaby (although he doesn't have the soundtrack accompaniment in the cave with them, of course. At least, not literally).
I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend The Timeline (the series to which The Start belongs). It’s so fun and interesting and full of adventure and shy idiots and chaotic dumbassery, and is just absolutely delightful. I cheer every time a new chapter comes out. This is my fanart of and tribute to their work, and I hope you enjoy.
