This actually arrived at my house yesterday and is being bumped to the top of the queue for no reason, really.
Tumblr media
I saw this 1971 Barbie Beauty Center relisted on shopgoodwill.com a couple times and it’s rare, but they did drop the price on her after a couple relists.
She was $40 shipped instead of $50... Goodwill uses FedEx which is EXPENSIVE.
Anyway, she looked like she’d be a challenge and I’m a little bored of working on ponies, so I went for it.
Tumblr media
Her box is all but destroyed. The whole top is missing. That seems to be pretty common. The front is cute but I didn’t take any pics of it.
Tumblr media
She came with all this stuff, most of which isn’t even hers. As far as I can tell only the yellow compact, large curlers, and green brush are hers.
Tumblr media
I pulled her out of the box and was grateful she doesn’t smell like cigarettes, moth balls, or storage stank (mold/mildew).
Also grateful that the 1971 Beauty Center is NOT Quick Curl. The 1972 version is.
I despise Quick Curl.
Tumblr media
I still thought she MIGHT be a challenge.
Tumblr media
It took no time at all to get her face clean. Melamine sponge FTW.
Tumblr media
I’m disappointed, honestly. When I splurge on something like this I’m paying for an experience since I have no interest in the product itself. I’m not even buying to resell, I’m buying for entertainment.
Her hair was not fun to fix at all. All it needed was washed, conditioned, combed with the metal dog comb, then combed with the metal flea comb and she was done.
Fixing her compact took more effort.
Tumblr media
It was covered in “makeup” and then I went and chunked up the remaining powder, mixed it with rubbing alcohol, and let it set.
Tumblr media
It’s chunky because there was a layer of glue on the bottom of the powder and I didn’t get it removed properly. I can go back and try doing it again and straining out the chunks, but honestly...
Don’t care that much.
It looks better, though it’s cracked while it dried, and that’s all I wanted.
Tumblr media
So. Yeah. That’s done. (Ignore the mess I have a lot of projects going at once and it’s chaotic.)
I put her hair up in a hair net overnight while it dried.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course I also cleaned her accessories. The brush is adorable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have no idea what most of this stuff is.
The Libby Lee compact at least has a name on it. That was a brand of cheap toys you could get in a bubble card at gas stations and discount stores.
The pink pin and brush came from Quick Curl Skipper.
The orange thing is a handle for a file.
I think the yellow brush is just a generic baby hair brush. It has the ultra soft nylon bristles my little brother’s brush had when he was a baby.
Pink triangles seem to be broken hair clips though could be some other kind of clip.
Well, now what? On the pile of things to sell when I get back around to selling things.

Okay, I could talk about each of these topics in greater depth, but I'll keep it boiled down or else I'll be typing for a loooong time. If anyone wants elaboration on the following steps or on any particular pieces I've done, let me know and I'll give more tips and tricks later :) Apologies for the formatting, I'm still getting used to posting on Tumblr
-------------------------
Step 1: Clean up and prep I start by sanding down leftover pieces and flaws in the model caused by the production process. In traditional model kits, these are pour tabs, flash and seam lines. For 3D printed, these would be pits or bumps left behind from supports and layers lines.
Tumblr media
The arm and boots on the left are from a traditional model kit, and have visible tab chunks that will need snipping then sanding. S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N on the right needs his supports removed, then sanding. Every piece (minus those with fine texture) gets buffed with 240, 320, 600 and 1000 grit sandpaper/sanding sponges (clear parts and any pieces intended to be painted with clear paints, such as character skin, are additionally polished with a melamine sponge, also known as a magic eraser).
This is to make sure the surface is level and uniform. Any bumps or scratches that aren't removed will show up in the final paint job.
(Note for beginners: It's fine to just remove production remnants and do a little clean up before going to the next step. All that prep is tedious! Just have fun with it for now!)
Step 2: Make sure the model parts fit well together. It's very common for a model to not fit together perfectly right away. Dipping the model in hot water to soften it, then pressing the pieces together usually fixes this. Be careful not to burn yourself! Sometimes drilling and sanding is required. At this point, larger model kits will require drilling and pinning, though most are fine being assembled later just with glue.
Step 3: Primer
I secure the pieces on clips to keep them elevated, and spray them in thin, even layers of primer. Primer is essential, as it is what makes the paint stick to the model. - White primer: Best for anime and cartoon figures, makes colors pop - Grey: For realistic characters, dulls colors down a little. - Black: For metal or specialty products, like Armored Komodo pigments
Primer will make any unresolved blemishes become more visible, so I usually go back to step 1 until I get them all.
Step 4: Clear coat
For an even, level paint job, I spray a layer of Gloss clear coat on every piece, to smooth the surface even more. I skip this for finely textured pieces, so the details don't get filled in. Spray in a well ventilated area with protection!
Tumblr media
There are many brands of clear coats. These are my favorites!
Step 5: Paint
I use three kinds of paint:
Lacquer: Expensive, take a little while to cure, must be thinned with a solvent. Sometimes hard to find. Offers lovely effects, is durable and sticks very well. Can be difficult to correct if something goes wrong. *HAZARDOUS, use in a well ventilated or outside area and use breathing protection!*
Enamel: A little easier to find, takes a long time to cure, which sometimes is a benefit, as it can level itself and provide a smoother surface. Must be thinned with a solvent, sticks very well. Most importantly, enamel can be used on top of lacquers and erased without damaging the lacquer layer. *HAZARDOUS, use in a well ventilated or outside area and use breathing protection!*
Acrylic: Great, vibrant colors, easy to find, very affordable! Dries very fast, even faster if you lightly use a hair dryer. Very delicate, prone to scratches and chips. Can be easily stained by other acrylic color. You only need water to thin it!
Tumblr media
Left to right: Creos Mr Hobby Lacquers, Tamiya Enamel, Vallejo Acrylics
I usually start with the character's skin first. This is because I paint skin using built up layers of clear colors, to get a sort of 'glow' that shines through to the primer and differentiates the skin from clothing and hair pieces.
Afterwards and throughout the project, I 'save' my work by spraying a layer of clear Gloss or Matte spray. I use an airbrush, so to further protect other parts of my work, I cover the finished pieces in masking liquid and/or masking tape, before spraying the next color. Because Enamel can be easily wiped off of lacquers without affecting the lower color layers, I use this type of paint second. If you use Enamel first, you may run into issues with the underlying lacquer causing paint cracking in the future.
(Note for beginners: Using just acrylics is fine. :) I have painted entire models with acrylic paints obtained from craft stores and Walmart, and had very good results.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite my masking, some enamel paint leaked through on Casey's neck. Masking is rarely perfect, so expect to do touch ups after removal.
Step 6: Face eyes and details
...this is an entire essay on it's own, which will require another post. But I use layers of enamel for eyes, water color pencils for eyebrows, chalk pastels for makeup/shading and acrylics for eye lashes.
I have shaky hands sometimes, so the ability to erase my work and start again is very helpful here, hence why I don't use lacquers for this part.
Tumblr media
There are... So many products and colors in this one piece... Step 7: Touch ups then gluing
I typically do touch ups as I go, but now is the last chance to correct anything. Once it's ready, 2-part epoxy or crazy glue (sometimes both) will be enough to get most models together entirely.
----------------------------
That's a basic breakdown for my process, though for things like effects, clear pieces and fancier/realistic models, it can get quite elaborate. I don't want to scare anyone away from the hobby, so I'll just say this...
You don't have to do allllll this stuff!! Find a model you love (repainting dollar store figures is a great place to start!), prime it, and slap some paint on it! Just have fun, and then go from there!! My first model was lumpy, and looked like she was painted with nail polish, but I kept going and just enjoyed myself, trying new tips and tricks along the way. The point is to have fun! Make sure to take proper precautions and read product instructions as well, if you choose to use the more toxic products.
If anyone decides to give figure painting a shot, send pics of your projects my way, I'd love to see them!! :D It's always great to have more people in the hobby! And I'm always up for more questions, they might just take me a little while to get to replying.

How would my mutuals feel about me simply posting products and asking for better alternatives? because I'm gonna be honest I keep up with news and economic advice but not nearly as well as at LEAST four of my mutuals. (I remember the one about melamine sponges just being Mr. Clean without the branding and like 10x cheaper though!)
To be clear I'm asking because I want a slap-chop and I wanna see if someone can pull a melamine sponge (tell me something better and/or cheaper)

This is an atypical kind of review for me, but I thrifted this bag recently.
I have ADHD and lose my phone around the house CONSTANTLY, so I wear a cross-body pouch at all times. Cross-body so I have to actually think about it to take the bag off and set it down which I would also do, and then lose the whole pouch otherwise.
I did buy my older pouch on Amazon but it’s no longer available.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link anyway - https://amzn.to/3WykTnS
It was about $15 and I liked it a lot, but it was also made of rather thin, fragile fabric that wore through after a while. I originally bought it in Apr of 2022, so it lasted about one year of constant daytime wear.
Anyway, I was looking for a new bag and thinking I might be happier with plastic because plastic is easier to clean, and happened to see this bright, eye-catching thing at Goodwill.
Tumblr media
It was $6.
It was sticky all over and had makeup smeared all on the inside. There’s only one divider in there so it’s not great as a phone pouch, really, but it works to keep me from losing my phone all the time.
L.A.’s Totally Awesome took care of the stickiness and a melamine sponge cleaned out the makeup.
With no branding on it at all, I figured it was something cheap (which is different than inexpensive), and found it online pretty easily.
Tumblr media
It’s from Fashion Nova. https://www.fashionnova.com/products/want-your-attention-crossbody-bag-multi-color?variant=12206161133692
Fast fashion is all over the thrift stores these days. I see Shein on the racks. It’s depressing.
Anyway. After wearing this around to stop me from losing my phone every time I blink, I have to say that it’s very annoying to wear.
The construction is ok. The brackets and closure and all seem sturdy enough, which is great.
The gold color on the chain is getting worn off because the bag is heavy and slides along the chain on those D rings as I move.
That movement of metal on metal creates a grating, ratcheting sound, and it squeaks. It also leaves black, metal dust on top of the bag.
However, that movement of the bag on the chain negates any need for the shoulder strap to move on my shoulder, which adds a little comfort. The shoulder strap is also plastic and I have to remember to wipe it down every day so it doesn’t cause breakouts.
The bag is made of soft PVC which is harder than a fabric bag, and it thwacks me on the opposite thigh with it’s relatively hard corner now and then as I move about.
It’s functional and attractive, but annoying. It wasn’t designed to be worn CONSTANTLY, though.

10. a heap of broken images
back - next “So, Mark, this is Jared…”
Mark, it had to be said, did not look as if a large, near-invisible shadow-creature looming up out of the darkness and regarding him with a trio of eyes like the functional parts of a red-hot gas stove was a welcome addition to the list of concepts he was already struggling to grasp. He stared up at Jared in speechless silence, and when Jared’s eyes gave a friendly tilt, dropped several feet and whipped towards him, he sucked in a breath so sharp that Antonio was concerned he might have inhaled his own tongue.
“Look who it is! Double-M-hockey-sticks! It’s cool, we go waaaay back.”
“Uh?” managed Mark.
“Oh, yeah-yeah-yeah, I’ve been watching you for what, like, a year now?”
Mark made a noise.
“Gotta say, you’re taller IRL,” said Jared, happily. “Probably a perspective thing, right? Also way better res, which, like, no joke, literally every single cam in your house is ANCIENT at this point. Stone age. I kept bugging ya boy to replace them- no hate, ‘Tone- I was like, hey, I’m just your eye in the sky here, it’s not like I can just snap my fingers and your actual hardware gets upgraded with the power of heart or whatever. But he was always like... oh, hey, you good?”
This last, because Mark had just sat down suddenly with a thump, his knees having apparently decided they were even less keen on the way this conversation was going than the rest of him.
“It’s okay, Mark,” said Antonio, coaxingly. “Jared monitors all the hosts, twenty-four-seven. It wasn’t just you.”
When Mark finally found his voice, it was quite a lot shriller than usual. “That’s supposed to make me feel better?”
Antonio thought about it, reaching for Mark’s backpack, which had fallen off his shoulder as they’d scrambled inside the door. “I mean, yeah, it was, but I guess I can see why it doesn’t. Jared, hey, uh… I know this is kind of a big ask, but…”
Popping the inner zip, he upended the backpack over the nearest free desk. With a slithering scuffle of plastic wrappers, a small landslide of bright packages and baggies slid and tumbled over each other into a rough pile on the dusty melamine surface.
“We need a way out.”
Jared’s eyes gleamed. A long slender thing, like a steely finger with far too many joints, snickered indistinctly past Mark’s ear and pinned one of the little packets (a crowded graphic-design abomination, featuring sugegasa-wearing cows somersaulting cheerfully through flames), whipping it up into the shadows.
“Buddy, just call me Healthy Community, because I have got you COVERED.”
–-
Where there was a will- and an entire bodega rack’s worth of premium dried beef products- it turned out there was a way.
Jared called them dead zones. The cameras covered almost everywhere within the HR Department, Jared’s endless ranks of shiny black eyes, in corners, in ceilings, down blind alleys and empty rooms and well-trodden corridors, but with care and a little assistance to even out the odds, a path could be walked between them. The places between were cramped and confusing and nearly as difficult to travel as they would have been to find without Jared’s help. They were not the safest places, even within this hungry, malignant landscape, and they certainly weren’t the easiest to explain.
Here was a well of dank air, some fifty feet across, stirred in a slow, endless spiral by the movement of some enormous fan or turbine, deep enough below that it was far out of sight of any travellers along the narrow path that spanned it, a clanking catwalk of green steel. Condensation dripped from the pale heights, made the metal slimy underfoot.
Mark managed a couple of wobbly steps out over the void, then slid to his knees against the spindly safety rail, a sad arrangement of metal rods and chickenwire which overall came off as less of a barrier than a polite suggestion. Antonio, following with a surer step, resisted the urge to hook a fistful of the back of his sweater, just in case. He didn’t think Mark was likely to actually pitch himself over the railing, but he did appreciate that the last twenty or so minutes had been quite a lot for any human to handle.
“Hang in there, Mark,” he said, brightly. His voice echoed, a thin distant relay pattering back to them through the slow whirlpool of air. “Not much further.”
Mark forced his hands wordlessly through his hair, found a squashed fragment of delicate orange wing stuck somewhere over his ear, and flicked it away from him in disgust.
“Uh, yeah, sorry about the butterflies,” said Antonio. “Honestly, they’re usually pretty chill, I’ve never seen them just go for the eyes like that.”
Words weren’t evading Mark, but the ability to put more than two of them next to each other in a coherent sentence seemed to be. “That- the- why-” A struggle. “Why a horse??”
“It’s just a horse, Mark,” said Antonio, testing the railing before leaning his elbows on it, like a casual sightseer above Niagara Falls.
Mark clearly felt this wasn’t enough information. He made another struggle with his hands, shaping a sort of invisible sculpture on the theme of horror, bewilderment, and indignation, a shape that cut off sharply in the middle, and then squeezed both palms into his eyesockets, speaking indistinctly through his fingers.
“Just a- just- where’s the rest of it??”
“Do you think that’s really an important question right now?” asked Antonio. He meant it as a reasonable, honest query, but Mark only fixed him with a baleful eye through the gap in his hands, and said nothing.
They moved on. Through the empty hallways, through Jared’s dead zones, through a scorched and blackened sector where quite a mess had been made and the cameras still hung obliterated from the walls, Mark stayed silent. To Antonio, there was something puzzling- increasingly worrying- about this measured silence, and he didn’t think it was just the influence of his own quietly screaming nerves. He was good at reading Mark, even when he was at his most impenetrable, and he recognised this feeling of grim, plodding pertinacity that was coming off him in waves. This was Mark doing something he didn’t want to do- something he knew had no good object, no good ending- something he knew had to be done, regardless. He might as well have been making a video reading hate-comments, or cutting up raw liver, or any other uncongenial, unrewarding task demanded of him by the Muse. He looked as sullen and morose as ever, trailing along after Antonio as they travelled slowly through the safer zones of the HR Department. The nearest he got to an energetic reaction to anything on their long walk was a slight flinch and glance back as they heard the dogs pass distantly down a blind turning, the heavy patter of claws, the hungry, cheated howls.
Finally, the Long Egress. Jared had explained, in the vague way in which Jared tended to explain anything, that this seemingly endless grey concrete tunnel had been put in place as a sort of evacuation line, a last-ditch way back to the outside world. Walking it, Antonio wondered if the original architect might have planned on using it themselves, since it was quite clear that nobody else ever had. Whoever had designed the vast building that housed HR, if they had been human, it was a fairly safe assumption to make that they hadn’t done it entirely of their own free will.
It’s best to avoid asking questions or looking at things you aren’t authorised to see.
The bulkhead lights set into the walls every hundred yards or so created pale dim pools of light like so many oases, leading them from one to the next, all the way down the long last straight. Down here, even the lights were caged.
It’s all in my head, and I shouldn’t worry about it.
Antonio felt that they had been walking for years by the time they reached the end. His shoes had run out of moisture and left no prints on the scratchy poured concrete. Every step he took felt leaden, a further pull away from something dragging gently at him, something hooked into his heart-roots, difficult to ignore. They had been walking in silence, the only sounds the scrape and echo of their steps, the thick electric hum of the lights, a quieter low static buzz that seemed to live in the walls, and Mark’s difficult breathing and occasional hitching cough. Antonio didn’t mind these noises, as it made it easy for him to know that Mark was still behind him.
No ceremony, no fanfare, just a flat final wall that grew slowly from a pale dot to a short grey oblong as they walked towards it, a last pool of light, the long hallway terminating in a single pale grey door. Someone with a sense of humour had screwed a sign to it, an ordinary industrial yellow-and-black safety sign that read DANGER – KEEP OUT. Someone else had scrawled underneath; IT’S SCARY OUT THERE.
Antonio put a hand on the door, which had a thick push-bar, wreathed in old cobwebs and cranky with disuse. He looked back, and saw that Mark had stopped a little way back along the hallway and was just standing there in the last-but-one pool of light, looking at him.
“Mark? This is it, buddy, come on.”
Mark coughed, wiped his mouth on his sleeve, and didn’t move.
“Mark?” Antonio stepped away from the door. As he moved towards Mark, Mark stepped back, mirroring him. He put a hand to the strap of his backpack, gripping it like a rosary, and suddenly Antonio felt a cold and eerie twinge of deja vu, of a week ago, of standing in the soft-lit hallway with Be Joyful Always, Pray Continually over his head as Mark begged him in a quiet, frantic monotone, pleaded, promised anything for his freedom.
I've done everything you've asked. You can have my channel, my house... just let me go.
Just now, it looked as if nothing could have been further from Mark’s mind.
“You must think I’m pretty fucking stupid,” he said.
Antonio stopped. The bug in his middle, which had been quiet for a time, stirred restlessly as he looked across the distance between them into Mark’s sharp, careworn face.
“So what is it?” Mark put out a hand and rested it against the concrete wall, either to take some of his weight or to reassure himself it was there. The flat light cast stark double-shadows, Antonio’s own falling across the door at his back and stretching down the hallway towards Mark, Mark’s slanting away as if it was shrinking from his. “What’s the trick? Because this whole ‘super secret escape’ thing is getting really old now. Maybe I’d have fallen for it when I was five but if you think I believe you’re just going to let me walk out of here, that sludge in your head must be way past expiry.”
“Mark, you have to trust me,” said Antonio. “I’m- I’m just trying to help you.”
Mark blinked a couple of times, grinned at him, in the same way skulls grinned, nothing behind it but a vacant stretch of teeth. Whether Antonio had struck a nerve, or Mark had just reached some internal breaking point, he dropped his hand from the wall and started walking forwards.
“Trust you. Trust you? You, and that- that thing in my basement- my muse-”
The sheer amount of pure spitting venom he managed to inject into one syllable was astonishing.
“-you’re the same. You’re the same thing, you’re just a- a part of that fucking blob that can walk around and look like a person. I knew that as soon as you first showed up- you think I’m going to trust you now?” He stopped, almost face to face with Antonio, his fear and aversion and bitter anger struggling with each other in his face, his hands curled around his backpack in front of him as if it was a shield.
“Mark, I- I’ve felt- I’ve been-”
Now it was Antonio’s turn to struggle. His chest was crawling, the heat in his face and hands rising, the difficulty squirming under his skin pushing him not to shut Mark up or stop him being a problem but to explain, to try to dispel the terrible disdain in Mark’s eyes. He stumbled on, aware his voice sounded choked and strange, terribly afraid to keep going but far, far more afraid to stop.
“When you were gone, I… I started to feel... different. I’ve been feeling... really weird. Mark, I have… thoughts that don’t make sense- sometimes I don’t want things to happen even though I know I should, I don’t want to do things I know I have to do- I think there’s something wrong with me. No, I- I know there is.” He held out his hands, open, pleading. “I don’t know what happened, but I- I know somehow, it started because of you.”
He swallowed.
“I’m different, I’m different to how I was, because of you. And I want to- I want to be a good friend, Mark. I’m doing this because I… I want to help you.”
“Bullshit,” said Mark.
Oh, it felt cold, it felt freezing cold in his guts and it hurt, and maybe this was how come humans could hurt each other so easily, that Mark could take every honest, vulnerable word he’d pulled painstakingly out of the core of him, these fragile little things ripped out of their shell new and raw and utterly defenceless, and hurl them so easily right back in his face. Antonio felt them start to shrivel and die in the chasm between them, but he kept quiet and just looked at Mark, who was knotting his fists in the fabric of his backpack, his jaw set hard, mouth slightly open, eyes hot and full of contempt.
“Mark,” he tried, “please, you have to-“
“No, I don’t. I actually fucking don’t, I don’t have to do anything. I don’t have to believe a single word you say. I listened to you for a year. I let you manipulate me, I danced like your fucking puppet, I did everything you wanted, for a year. I let-” He bit the word off.
“Mark, I haven’t even known you for a y-“
“Shut up,” said Mark, his voice deadly and as flat as the lights. “You can’t hurt me anymore. Not with my- my mom, not with-” He stopped himself again, his mouth working. “There’s nothing left, the only thing you have on me is this- this shit inside of me, this-” He let the pack dangle to the bruised fold of his elbow and held out his arms, wordless, the flat bulkhead light ghastly on his darkened veins, the black splatters of the dog’s blood and his own still staining the front of his ruined sweater. “This- this infection, this mold, I- I can feel it, I hear it in my head-” He shuddered, furiously, helplessly. “If- if you wanted to help me you’d get rid of it but you won’t, you won’t because the only thing you want is to keep me, keep stringing me along for whatever sick fucking plan-”
“Okay, but I’d need to touch you.”
“-shut up- whatever sick- whatever-” Mark seemed to hit a kind of a glitch, sticking like a scratched-up record and stopping in place. He blinked a little volley of dazed blinks, a rapid-fire Morse code message of utter confusion. “What?”
“Here,” said Antonio, holding out his hands. “I think I can do it, at least I can try. It’s just, you told me not to touch you.”
Mark stared at him in disbelief, his hands falling to his sides. He looked poleaxed. The backpack slipped gently down his arm, dropping to the ground at his feet, but he made no sign he even noticed.
“And you listened??”
For the first time, Antonio saw with stark clarity the shape of himself as he must have appeared to Mark through the past almost-year. A looming shadow, a threatening, suffocating, hounding, malicious, grinning thing that never rested and never relented, if the deal Mark had made with his Muse was a poisoned spring, Antonio had been the hand forcing him under the rank surface, forcing him to drink until he drowned.
Months too late, without words to even form the idea, he was desperately sorry. The thing in his chest- bug, alien, sickness or mistake- it was his, his guilt, his to fight and deny or accept, and for once, the choice was his own.
“I know I don’t have any right to ask you to trust me.” He kept holding out his hands, palms up, looking into Mark’s face where incredulity was fighting a pitched battle with something else, something Antonio wasn’t sure he’d ever seen there before.
“Please, Mark,” he said, quietly. “Just let me try.”
The lights hummed, the walls buzzed. Mark stood still in silence for so long that Antonio started to wonder if he’d frozen again, but at last he started to move. There was no great change in his expression, no lessening of the fear in his eyes or the clear mistrust in the thin downwards line of his mouth. As he moved, it seemed to be in spite of himself than out of any thinking, reasoning decision.
Slowly, without looking away from Antonio’s face, Mark lifted his hand and reached out.

Exploring the Versatility of Corelle: Debunking the Melamine Myth!
Tumblr media
Hey everyone!  Today, I want to talk about Corelle, the beloved tableware brand, and clear up a common misconception about it.  Some folks believe that they are the same, but that's far from the truth!
So, in understanding Corelle versus Melamine dishes, you have to first note that Corelle is actually crafted from a unique material called Vitrelle glass, setting it apart from traditional melamine products.

Nano Sponges Contain Formaldehyde Contamination?
Kitchen grease cleaning has always been a headache, and traditional cleaning sponges often need to be used with chemical cleaning agents, making cleaning stubborn stains time-consuming and laborious. In recent years, the new nano sponge has become popular because it is ideal for cleaning stubborn stains and does not require any chemical cleaning agents. So where does the cleaning superpower of the nano sponge come from?
A discreet and introverted "techie".
Nano sponges are known by the scientific name melamine foam, commonly known as magic wipe, high-tech sponge and so on. The main component of the nano sponge is a melamine resin foam, made from melamine and formaldehyde polymerisation. The melamine resin has a high porosity three-dimensional mesh structure, each "bubble hole" has at least 3 holes or 2 destructive surfaces, and most of the bubble prongs are shared by at least 3 structural units. The capillary openings in the sponge automatically absorb stains from the surface during the wiping process. Because of its comprehensive properties such as good sound absorption, flame retardancy and resistance to humidity and heat, nano sponges are widely used in the construction industry, electronic products, biological treatment processes and other fields. The nano sponge is also a good helper in household chores, with high grease removal capacity and high water efficiency (only 30-40% of the water used in traditional cleaning methods), making it a highly acclaimed cleaning tool.
Rumoured to be toxic?
While melamine and formaldehyde are both toxic chemicals when singled out, the synthetic amine resin is a stable substance that does not decompose into formaldehyde again. However, during the polymerisation of the two molecules, some of the unreacted free formaldehyde is present in the nano sponge. Therefore, manufacturers reduce the free formaldehyde content by improving the foaming process and maturing the formaldehyde removal process. In addition, formaldehyde itself is a water-soluble and chemically unstable substance and can be removed by placing it in a ventilated area or rinsing with water before use. If you buy a nano sponge from a qualified merchant, ventilate it for a period of time, rinse it and then use it, you can basically avoid the danger of formaldehyde!
Tips:
From a hygiene point of view, the spaces between the sponges can accumulate a lot of grease and food residue, which should be rinsed and dried after use.
Do not use the nano sponge on electrical products that are not suitable for contact with water.
Do not use bleach or hot water to disinfect the sponge as this will cause the sponge to yellow and deteriorate and will shorten its life.

These are the sponges I ordered and they’re not here, yet, it’s going to be a while, but it makes me laugh because it says 30ct (Pack of 2), when what I ACTUALLY ordered is 2 packs of 3ct each sponges that are claiming to be 10x stronger than other melamine sponges.
The autogenerated multiple pack option misunderstood what was meant by “10x 3ct” and says this option is for 30 sponges.
Even worse, the title being “10x 3ct (Pack of 2)” would mean 60 sponges.
The product NAME is “Eraser Daddy 10x” but written like ten to the xth power.
It’s a disaster all around.
I tried using the “report incorrect information” thing but it’s java and I don’t even have java installed on this PC. Can probably do it through the phone, though.

What should I look for in a custom cabinet maker?
If you’re in the market for new kitchen cabinets, bath vanities or any other cabinetry project, it’s important to choose a reputable company. A bad choice could result in a shoddy product and an unsatisfactory experience.
Tumblr media
The right cabinet maker will take accurate measurements and use modern software to make precision cuts, design and construction. This intimate process ensures that no details are missed and that the finished product lives up to your expectations.
A good cabinet maker will seek your approval on things such as color, molding and other details during the design stage. This will keep you from having to go through a second round of changes and save you time and money in the long run.
Choosing the right cabinet materials is also key to achieving a quality result. A well-built cabinet will be made using woods and boards that are strong enough to stand up to wear and tear over the years.
For example, a custom cabinet maker can recommend a type of case construction that uses low-pressure laminate, melamine or veneer core plywood instead of face-frame construction that requires a frame around the front or face of the cabinet box.
It’s also important to consider if the custom cabinet maker has their own showroom where they show off their work. This can be a good indicator of how well they understand their craft and what they’re capable of, in terms of craftsmanship.
If you are looking for the same, Contact Cabernet Kitchen & Fine Cabinetry, a top notch custom cabinet maker in Vaughan.

A fusion of organic and mecha design - our new line of Bio Mecha footwear results from many moons of experimenting with 3D printing and vinyl casting production methods. The heel socket is designed mainly for future-proofing purposes. You can pull off the plug from a Clickety-Click stand and plug it into the heel socket for slightly more balance or aesthetics. The heel socket may be used to attach the boots to hoverboards or vehicles in the future - or you can start to make your own 3D wot not to plug in. As part of the aesthetic, Boot Cuffs are recommended, but if you don't have any, you can make your own with torn rags or even a lace around the ankles, as you can see from some of the photos. Conceptualized by Milpix. Made in Osaka. REASONS NOT TO BUY -The back of the boot has a slit that has to be prised apart to insert/remove the foot - this may require some strength but is much easier to wear than our previous vinyl boot products. -The slit at the back will not close completely - check photos to see what I mean. -The boots don't stain as no ink is involved in their creation - if you discover a mark on the foot after wearing any of our footwear - it's probably accumulated dust which can be removed with thinner or melamine sponge. -Clickety-click stands, boot cuffs and our roof is pictured in the photos but not included. -The boot design is symmetrical and can be worn on either foot. However, if you remove both boots with feet attached, you won't know which foot is in which boot. Your Smart Doll will inform you by kicking you if you attach the feet to the wrong shin. -Humans cannot wear them even though they may cost more than human footwear. However, I plan on making human versions as I would love to wear them myself ;-) -You could instead buy several jars of "Trader Joe's Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend 2.3 oz." -Even if you chop up the boots and sprinkle them on some nachos, the nutritional value will be close to zero. Those nachos will then be your last meal as your Smart Doll (who was watching you chop up their new boots) proceeds to make you into nachos topping... #smartdoll #3dprinting #anime #manga (at Mirai Store Tokyo) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfteOzLhbzx/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

DIY CLOSET RENOVATION
Welcome to our breakdown of a bespoke closet, DIYers! Since a customized closet is by its very nature unique, this blog article will serve more as a general guidance than a detailed blueprint. As a result, every space will be unique, as will every design decision. We'll describe the supplies and equipment we used to build the closet in this blog, as well as some advice on how to complete your project successfully.
Tumblr media
STEPS:
Measure your space and create your vision. Whether you're sprucing up an otherwise unused closet or modifying a spare bedroom, a clear vision of the final product is key. This will involve a little bit of math. Remember that the steel rod from which you will hang your clothes needs to be approximately 12 inches from the wall so that the hangers can hang freely.
Decide what kind of materials you want to use and make your purchase. In our video, we used melamine panels, mdf trim and lightweight hard foam crown moulding. You may choose to go with other options. There are many prefabricated and modular systems to choose from, but the DIY route will definitely save you a bunch of money.
Frame the closet. Follow along in our video to see how Jeff approaches framing the different sections of the closet and the shelving unit. Since your design will be unique to your space, you will have to use some intuition and creative reasoning.
Install crown moulding and trim. Voila! You're finished.
Feel greeter use this video below as a reference:
youtube
TIPS:
To prevent the requirement for a support bracket in the middle, use a steel rod with a heavier gauge.
To prevent splitting the panel while using a brad nailer, insert the nails squarely and straight.
Install a middle shelf that is set in place while installing the adjustable shelving unit to strengthen the unit when you lean it up against the wall. When you lift the unit against the wall for installation, there will be less chance that it will get harmed as a result.
Don't count on your floors being level. Floors are nearly never level, even in modern buildings. So be prepared to either scribe (cut down) or shim (raise) the foot of your shelf and closet panels to make up the difference. This is really simple to do using a laser level.
You may use a clothes hanger to assist you visualize where you would like your clothing to be hanging when determining where your closet rod should be linked to the panels.
Lines, smudges, and pencil smudges won't stick to the laminate and may be simply removed once the job is completed. For a final cleaning, it is best to hold off until the end.
Pre-drill the hole slightly before inserting the hardware for the closet rod since the included screws occasionally have trouble piercing laminated panels.

hi! i’m about to get into pony restoration somewhat as i’ve finally reacquired a good number of g3 i collected years ago. i was wondering what kind of soap/detergent you use for washing the ponies, and their hair, if you don’t mind sharing. thank you either way !! ^_^
Hello there!! Here we don't have much money, so we use what's around the house! Any dish or body soap will do, as will any shampoo and conditioner for their hair! I hear some use fabric softener as well, though that leaves too strong of a smell and weird waxy texture for my taste! My usual order for body washing is Warm Bath + Soap > Melamine Sponge (Known to u likely as Mr Magic Eraser) > Oxyclean Soak (Or any oxygen product- works well on mold amd making things smell less Bad!) > Acetone > The Sun (And Hydrogen Peroxide cream- DO NOT!!! EVER!! Use Benzoyl Peroxide or acne cream- it used to be common in the Pony Doctor community before it was descovered it causes contagious bleaching later in life!!) Be careful with acetone around the eyes and cutie marks of your ponys, and any other paint, as acetone removes it!! And cover up the paint if you ever sun your ponies lest it Fade! Good luck on your Pony Doctoring Journey, friend!!
