A non-exhaustive list of TMA characters and the crimes they could be realistically charged with
So I had a conversation with my friends @mossy-bonez, @pictureofdoriaaaaaangay, and @melandrops earlier about what crimes various characters in TMA could actually realistically be convicted of, and now I've made a whole list :')
Note before we begin: Neither I or my friends are at all trained in law professionally, and two of us live the United States, meaning that some laws may be different, have different conditions, etc, and thus may not 100% accurate to laws in the UK/England specifically. It is also completely possible that there are other crimes these characters could be charged with that we simply missed. This is ultimately just for fun as well and not meant to be anything serious, so just keep that in mind when reading through this. With that said, here's the list:
Jon:
Breaking and entering, trespassing, destruction of private property, murder, obstruction of justice, stalking, theft, unlawful surveillance, criminal harassment, being complicit in criminal acts

Ok so I saw a Cowboy TMA AU and now I need to speculate.
They’re in America but keep the British accents just for fun. I want Jon to get bullied by Americans for being a pushy Brit.
In order for the whole Basira and Daisy thing they’d probably be freelance detectives so that other law enforcement still existed.
Statements would be reports.
Artefact storage would be evidence management.
Online research is detective work.
In person follow up is an interview.
Jon joins interested in detective work as a job but also a passion. He’s intrigued by the disappearance of former head detective, Gertrude Robinson. He originally goes as a single free lance journalist/detective, going undercover in the Magnus institute to collect information on her disappearance. But turns out no one likes him much as he comes off as kind of having his head up his own arse. As his leads go dry he decided to do the job he was hired for. Reading through and organising reports. Most are outlandish and daring, and he suspects these “crazy” or even “supernatural” occurrences are actually by the work of heat stroke, drugs, alcohol, and delusion. He’s here about murder. Not ghosts. But as he continues to read, he gets the itching suspicion that not all is right.. and paranoia starts to eat away at his very being…
