hiii I hope you're having a great day! I'm not kidding when I say that it took several read throughs before I sent this 😭 I was just wondering if you'd mind linking any marvel meta and critiques pertaining to civil war and the accords, endgame, tfatws, tony, peggy, and the way steve and bucky's characters were treated.
context: I'm trying to explain some things to a friend of mine, but I just know there's posts that explain it better than I can. I spent over an hour scrolling through various tags and I really struggled to find my favourites.
I hope this doesn't sound too demanding, and feel free to ignore it if you're busy or you don't want to do it. I'm honestly just hoping you have some kind of folder where you keep them all! if you do, though, I would love if you included your own posts, because yours are some of the best ones I've read.
anyway, wishing you the best 💖
I admit this makes me super happy because, it's like even the internet friends know I'm a folder person! I do have a lot CACW and Endgame meta even offline folder saved lol.
I don't know if there is any specific arguments or points you and your friend are discussing to direct at? Let me know!
Here's what I have that applies in my current bookmarks, except LewtonBus which I think are articles for self examine and not to bring to discuss in rebuttals with friends, because there is really good stuff in them to ponder but, they are thesis' I'm not 100% subscribed too.
Also I can't rec enough the blogs of @thehollowprince, @robotmango, @monardarmmm, @fearlessinger, @chirping_tiger, @kateis_cakeis, @laporcurina, @cosmicmechanism, @keire-ke. I've scoured there tags and takes and loved so much if it.
STUCKY & Endgame
https://bamsmackpow.com/2019/04/30/avengers-endgame-lack-of-closure/
This is my defining WTF Endgame article. I don't see how anyone can argue against it. There is no explanation or reasoning to give out to the obvious and intentional erasure of Steve and Bucky out of Endgame's story narrative and why it doesn't fucking matter if you like the ship or the characters at all, erasing them, denying it, failed the set up of the story structure and the basics of arc complete writing.
The Stucky Essay - bilittlebarnes - Captain America (Movies) [Archive of Our Own]
This essay is so good. I was drawn in by it's argument on the "Bucky is alive!" moment of Endgame critic, because it highlights that the movie itself knows Stucky makes more narrative sense and importance and therefore uses it, but of course won’t let it be acknowledged. America’s ass is on display, just not the one they think.
The Silence of Peggy Carter. Peggy Carter was founder and Director… | by Summer Barbeau | Medium
I'm being really critical of Peggy's character being so beloved lately, examining my past defense of, but I think this article is the bomb on why Endgame's Steggy is dismissive of the pairing and characters whether you like them or not. An ending that devalues and silences your partner for romance is a fail.
For CACW
Exorcism, Burial, and Analysis: Representing Trauma in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ – Ceci n'est pas un discours (wordpress.com)
CA:CW, the reaction - cute but prickly (tumblr.com)
TFATWS
‘Falcon & The Winter Soldier’ & The Myth of Nonviolence | by Alex Mell-Taylor | An Injustice! (aninjusticemag.com)
I know it might not run in pop circles to my friends list but I'll say I agree with most if not all of the Mooler's breakdown of TFATWS.
https://youtu.be/N0Tu6pCvjQ4
In that Karli read more villain than John Walker to me, despite show intent, and it needs massive overhaul, because it's message sucked in many many ways. And I thought Sam and Bucky did come of as morally wrong and kinda massive jerks in comparison to Walker, as did the ethics of the Flagsmashers, the Dora.
That doesn't mean I've any love or interest in the John Walker character independently, as Jessica Jones season 1 did that style story better...it's a story meh in comparison to what I want which is a focused Sam story...and I certainly have no love or respect for Zemo's addition likewise. Where to go with the Captain America stories and ethics of the characters is so f'ed right now.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, 2018)
Cast: Tim Blake Nelson, Willie Watson, Clancy Brown, Danny McCarthy, David Krumholtz, James Franco, Stephen Root, Ralph Ineson, Jesse Luken, Liam Neeson, Harry Melling,  Jiji Hise, Paul Rae, Tom Waits, Sam Dillon, Bill Heck, Zoe Kazan, Grainger Hines, Jefferson Mays, Jonjo O'Neill, Brendan Gleeson, Saul Rubinek, Tyne Daly, Chelcie Ross. Screenplay: Joel Coen, Ethan Coen, "All Gold Canyon" segment based on a story by Jack London, "The Gal Who Got Rattled" segment based on a story by Stewart Edward White. Cinematography: Bruno Delbonnel. Production design: Jess Gonchor. Film editing: Joel Coen, Ethan Coen. Music: Carter Burwell. The six short films collected into The Ballad of Buster Scruggs are set in the central period of the American myth, the Old West, and they evoke major American writers like Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, and William Faulkner, as well as the two chroniclers of the vanishing American wilderness cited as sources for the segments "All Gold Canyon" and "The Gal Who Got Rattled," Jack London and Stewart Edward White. It's a very "literary" film whose characters often don't just talk, they orate, in florid 19th-century diction. And it's a film based in that American folk genre, the tall tale. Those who task the Coens with cynicism and coldness will find ammunition in all of these short films for their argument: Every good deed or noble intention in these stories gets thwarted or maimed. There's probably no crueler story on film than the "Meal Ticket" segment. And yet, we treasure Poe and Twain and Faulkner for their frequent heartlessness, praising their ironic vision. Is it that we expect more warmth from our movies than from our literature? As a genre, the anthology film has gone out of favor, largely because so many of them are uneven in quality, and while it's easy to rank the segments of The Ballad of Buster Scruggs -- I would put "The Gal Who Got Rattled" at the top and "Near Algodones" at the bottom -- the Coens have a unifying vision that makes each segment play off of the others, the way short stories in an anthology by Alice Munro or George Saunders set up reverberations among themselves.

Artists United Against Apartheid - Sun City (Alternate Video)
In 1985, Steven Van Zandt, along with Arthur Baker, Hart Perry, and Danny Schechter, formed Artists United Against Apartheid and Van Zandt would write “Sun City,” an anthemic Rock/Hip Hop/R&B song protesting the Apartheid system symbolized by the South African resort, Sun City. Over 50 artists including Gil Scott-Heron, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen,  Bono, Grandmaster Melle Mel, George Clinton, Run DMC, Jimmy Cliff, Ruben Blades, Pat Benatar, Herbie Hancock, Lou Reed, Joey Ramone, Peter Gabriel, Bob Geldof, Clarence Clemons, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Darlene Love, Bobby Womack, Afrika Bambaataa, Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Jackson Browne, Peter Wolf, Bonnie Raitt, Hall & Oates, Big Youth, Michael Monroe, Stiv Bators, Peter Garrett, Ron Carter, Ray Barretto, Nona Hendryx, and Miles Davis, performed on the track which spawned a conscious raising album of the same name. As one of the first collaborations among major recording stars to support a political, rather than a social cause, it is considered by most political experts to be one of the the fatal blows to Apartheid, leading to Nelson Mandela being freed only a few years later.

LUCY’S THIN BLUE LINE
Lucy and Law Enforcement ~ Part 3
Tumblr media
On “Here’s Lucy,” Lucy Carter not only had multiple run-ins with the police – she actually became Sheriff for a day! Here’s a look at Carter and Cops!
Tumblr media
“Lucy’s Impossible Mission” (1968) ~ In this “Mission:Impossible” spoof, even the police are in on the caper. John J. “Red” Fox was best known for playing policemen, which is what he did on five of his eight appearances on “The Lucy Show” as well as three of his five episodes of “Here’s Lucy.” The policeman has no lines, but is kicked by Lucy to get his attention and says “Ouch!”
Tumblr media
“Guess Who Owes Lucy $23.50?” (1969) ~ Van Johnson plays himself and his evil doppelganger.Orwin C. Harvey plays the Security Guard (right). Harvey has one line, spoken off screen. A second Security Guard goes uncredited and has no lines.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Ex-Con” (1969) ~ Lucy and a safecracker (Wally Cox) go undercover as Little Old Ladies at a dive bar. Vince Howard played the policeman on the extreme left. Many of his 125 TV and film credits were as law enforcement officials. Howard also played a policeman on “Lucy and Mannix are Held Hostage” (1971). Larry J. Blake (policeman on right) is making the first of his eight “Here's Lucy” appearances.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Goes on Strike” (1969) ~ Harry refuses to give Lucy a raise so she goes on strike with the other secretaries in the building, including Isabel (Mary Wickes). John J. ‘Red’ Fox returns as the cop on the beat in front of the Bradshawe Building.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Great Airport Chase” (1969) ~ Government Agent Bill (Morgan Jones) appears to investigate international epsionage in an episode shot on location at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The G-Man is never addressed by name but listed in the end credits.
Tumblr media
"Lucy Helps Craig Get His Driver's License" (1969) ~ A motorcycle cop (Ray Kellogg) faces off with driving test examiner Wibur Hurlow (Jack Gilford).
Tumblr media
Inside the police station, the officers issuing licenses are played by (left to right): Herkie Styles, Joseph Mell, and Sid Gould.
Tumblr media
“Lucy's Burglar Alarm” (1969) ~ Detective Harvey Gaynes is played by Elliott Reid, who also appeared on “I Love Lucy” and “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy, the Cement Worker” (1969) ~ Lucy disguises herself as a street construction worker to find a valuable ring she’s lost. She encounters the cop on the beat, played by Harry Hickox in the first of his three episodes of “Here’s Lucy.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Viv Visit Tijuana” (1970) ~ At the border, Harry is questioned by a customs officer played by Don Megowan in his only appearance with Lucille Ball. He is perhaps best remembered as the Sheriff in The Wolfman (1956). His final role was as a police sergeant in the 1979 TV movie Mrs. R’s Daughter.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Wall Cox” (1970) ~ Lucy helps Wally Manley (Wally Cox) get a job as a warehouse security guard where they encounter armed criminals.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Ma Parker” (1970) ~ Carole Cook plays a master criminal. The police convince Lucy to take her place in order to nab her associates. Harry Hickox (Lieutenant L. Hickox, left) makes the second of his three episodes of “Here’s Lucy,” all as policemen. Stafford Repp (Police Detective Halloran,  right) made a career of playing policemen even before he became famous as Chief O'Hara on TV’s “Batman” (1966-68). He played two different officers of the law on “Dennis the Menace” in 1962 and 1963, alongside Gale Gordon.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Raffle” (1971) ~ The Baliffs in the courtroom are played by Emile Autuori and John J. ‘Red’ Fox.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Carol Burnett aka The Hollywood Unemployment Follies” (1971) ~ Lucy and Carol stage a musical revue featuring a tribute to the operetta Rose Marie (1930 & 1940). Four Mounties (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) sing “Stout-Hearted Men”. From left to right: Sid Gould, Kay Kuter, Johnny Silver and Mike Wagner.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Mannix are Held Hostage” (1971) ~ In this cross-over with the Mike Connors private eye series “Mannix” (saved from cancellation by Lucille Ball), the policemen are played by Vince Howard (left) and Robert Foulk (right).
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Celebrities” (1971) ~ Sid Gould plays the Security Guard at the gate of Morton Pictures. Impressionist Rich Little stars with Jack Benny.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Candid Camera” (1971) ~ Allen Funt plays himself and an evil imposter, getting the Carters to participate in criminal capers under the impression they are on “Candid Camera”.  Law enforcement is played by (left to right): Peter Leeds, Robert Carson as Sergeant Lou Holmes, and Paul Sorenson, who played policemen many times during his career.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Chinese Curse” (1972) ~ When Lucy saves a laundry owner (Keye Luke) from a safe falling in the street, reporters and the police are on the scene. Frequent background performer Walter Smith plays the policeman. He had appeared with Lucille Ball in Forever Darling (1956), as well as in Desilu’s “The Untouchables” and “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
“The Case of the Reckless Wheelchair Driver” (1972) ~ Lucy, in a wheelchair due to her broken leg, is set-up by a conman (Jesse White). Law enforcement officials are (left to right): Officer Rafferty (Robert Foulk), Sergeant Montgomery (Hal Hickox), and Officer Egan (Ed Hall).
Tumblr media
“Dirty Gertie” (1972) ~ Lieutenant Egan is played by Craig Stevens, who is probably best remembered for playing the title role in the private eye series “Peter Gunn” (1958-61). Egan questions Lucy and says he's “just trying to get the facts, ma'am.” This is a paraphrase of a quote from another famous TV detective, Joe Friday on “Dragnet.” The role of Lieutenant Egan was originally written with Webb in mind. Stevens even imitates Webb's deadpan delivery.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Goes to Prison” (1973) ~ When Lucy goes undercover in jail to discover where Mumsie Westcott (Elsa Lanchester) hid her stolen loot, Matron Wilson is played by Jody Gilbert, who also played a prison matron on “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
Two uniformed policemen are played by uncredited actors and have no lines.
Tumblr media
“The Big Game” (1973) ~ Jerry Jones plays a policeman on the prowl for ticket scalpers at the stadium. Prior to this, Jones played a policeman on “The Doris Day Show” and “The Brady Bunch.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy Plays Cops and Robbers” (1973) ~ On the side of the law are Officers Spencer and Riggs, played by Dick Sargent and Gary Crosby. Rumor has it that the police officers were supposed to be played by “Adam-12” (1968-75) co-stars Martin Milner and Kent McCord. Like “Here’s Lucy,” the NBC police drama was filmed on the Universal lot. Gary Crosby played a recurring role on “Adam-12.” In the script, one officer says to the other “I think we’ve been riding together too long” which would have been even funnier had it been an already famous pair of policemen like Milner and McCord. The episode features Al Lewis, who famously played Officer Schnauser on “Car 54 Where Are You?” (1961-63).
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Sheriff” (1974) ~ Lucy finds out that her grandmother was the first woman sheriff of a Montana town that is celebrating its centennial. She is asked to play her grandmother at the celebrations, which include the recreation of a bank robbery. Lucy is enjoying playing lawmaker until a couple of genuine robbers interrupt the celebration and take her hostage!
Tumblr media
Flora Belle Orcutt (the fictional one) is supposedly the first lady sheriff in the West. In real life, the distinction of first woman sheriff has been disputed. Some say it was Texan Emma Banister (1918), but others claim it was Mary Roach (1922-27) because Emma had inherited the position from her husband. Still others believe the title belongs to Kansan Mabel Chase (1926). Mrs. James Latty of Burlington, Iowa, was known as the first “Unofficial Woman Sheriff" as far back as 1870.
Tumblr media
Lucy the Sheriff meets Sheriff Bart Thomas, played by Orwin C. Harvey.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Calls the President” (1977) ~ In the CBS special, Lucy Whittaker (Lucille Ball) is scheduled to get a visit from President Jimmy Carter. In advance of the visit, the Barker home is visited by Secret Service Officers Thatcher (Joey Forman) and Stockley (Stack Pierce).
Tumblr media
Stone Pillow (1985) ~ Lucille Ball plays a homeless woman living on the streets. When another homeless woman dies on her corner, the police are called. Pat McNamara (Officer Daggett) played Sheriff Perkins in Silence of the Lambs (1991).
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Guard Goose” (1986) ~ This unaired episode of “Life With Lucy” was originally scheduled for broadcast November 22, 1986. When crime hits M&B Hardware, Lucy enlists the help of a guard goose. Charles Levin plays Pasadena’s finest Sergeant Green. Green played a policeman on two episodes of “Punky Brewster” (1987-88).

The earliest birthday he was told about was at around age 5.
He doesn’t remember it— not really, he was only given vague descriptions about it when asked, and, y‘know, his whole ‘no childhood rights’ thing.
It hadn’t really occurred to him that he was supposed to be self aware of it, buttttt. English essays, amiright?
Asking what happened was weird? Ellie was pretty watered down about it, but that's just a him thing, so he didn’t really question it that much. He was just curious, not enough to push it.
As for what he was told...
He was told that his parents celebrated it at Ellies’ house, his dad made a BBQ and then some, that he played with the now-red head boy in the backyard and that their parents took some photos. Ellie made him a friendship bracelet, but apparently he lost it. It was a small party, not many people were invited over besides them.
...looking at old pictures, someone seemed to be missing.
“Hey, Ellie?”
“Yeah?”
“Does this look off to you?” He asks, handing over the photo.
The red boy took it to examine. Then he did the...thing. The hand thing, clasping them together like a lock and pointing his feet inwards. The ‘“Doesn't look like it…?” Que nervous chuckle.
Suspicious.
“Fine, keep your secrets.” He said light heartedly. Didn’t feel like it’s worth pushing, if he was being honest [WOW your puns are terrible this run-] (shut up,)
Mainly, he just wrote that his past birthday was very...plain. Nothing much to write home about, not really exciting, in the least kind of nostalgic, considering it was the last one he had with his parents. It just. Wasn’t that eventful? It’s not like he remembers it enough to confirm it, and the fact that most of his memories don't feel his own. Mostly just feels like they were put there. He remembers them, knows them, but he doesn’t remember making them.
Simple A to B birthday celebration. That he was gonna bullshit entirely. How hard could lying about memories you don’t know much of be?
x
Apparently, very.
He got frustrated. Distracted sometimes. He’d rather do anything but the writing. It was stupid too! The teacher doesn’t even care for these so like— why??
He couldn’t focus enough to work on it until two days before, where inspiration struck him. If he couldn’t write about his own memories in much detail, he could just! Go find some kids celebrating their birthday and copy the experience!
So that’s what he went and did. With the very helpful Youtube and his favorite hands, he searched and found one that seemed good.
Simple party. “We had it outside, there was cake, someone put frosting on my face, and after Ellie fed me everyone got cake too, we played pin the line on the comic panel, rinse and repeat next year.”
...That, stretched into multiple paragraphs. He could do this.
Right?
x
Well, he did, but...
He got a C- for it. Apparently his tone was too ‘unenthusiastic’. And...it being bery similar ti the teachers niece’s birthday party…
Geez, can’t even escape bad grades in writing, huh Toe? (shhhh)
Another “notable” [if you could call it that] birthday that came up - July 28, 2011, his e
eleventh.
The morning of it was ok. Ellie woke him up by jumping on his bed, the floor creaking under the weight of his hops. Eyes opened blearily, he was unprepared with a barely there ‘wha’ as the shorter attacked him with hugs.
“ELLIE.” He wheezed, “ELLIE PLEASE I JUST GOT UP.”
“So??”
“YOU’RE CHOKING ME.”
“o h.”
The boy got off of the other, his red shirt flailing a bit. He looked as normal as he could be. He looked. Visible.
That’s all Mell really needed. A grounder in a world of yellows and oranges, fiery reds on the edge of its seat.
“C'mon!! We’re gonna be late!!”
“...For?” He asked in confusion. What could they be missing? It was Saturday, they didn’t have any school, so?—
Ellie stared at him. Then..laughed? Giggled. And sighed. At the same time. A hand on his face, he looked back at Mell and to the side again.
“It’s Thursday, dummy.”
Oh.
Ellie’s smile did a megawatt zillion kind of thing. “Cenn made breakfast!!”
“!!!!!!!!” How he pronounced that, we don’t know. He’s excited though!! His pupils dilated minutely, wider than before. He looked like a cat.
Walking downstairs, the boys stumbled, giggling at each other like shounen school girls with crushes. I mean, with the promise of Meat? Who wouldn’t be excited??
Mx. Rainor turned to them, skin fading with the background. They squished his cheeks lovingly, mouth quirked up widely. “How’s my favorite kiddo doing up this early on his birthday?” They exclaimed loudly. Mrs. Rainor watched the scene and laughed softly, a hand over her mouth.
The lemon eyed boy pouted, which soon replaced with a smile of his own. “Stooopppp….” he groaned under their hand, trying to shove them off. “I’m good! And hungry.” Putting their hand off, he looked around widely. “Can we eat now please, Mx.?”
They chuckled. ”Offff course you are,” They mutter under their breath. “It’s on the counter dear, go get a plate for some.”
“Ok!” Bounding over to the (add later bdndkf)
His...not first, but the first (and hopefully last) time he got detention on his ‘big day’. He would’ve said he was shocked, but he hadn’t really realized what day it was. At least, not until the principal mentioned it while he sat in their office, scribbling on a piece of paper and fiddling with his hands. A scolding, apparently decided they were fit to do that (considering it’s technically their job, but. Still.). He stopped and stared up at them from the chair, watching but not really seeing. Listening and not hearing. Eventually, he got dismissed, Ellie waiting for him in the car with his parents.
“C’mon Mell, we got a surprise for you!! :D”
Confused, he turned to look at him.
“How’d you do that?”
“Do what?”
“The :D!”
“You did it just now too!”
“...Did I-“
“You did!! Look, see!-“ He went to imitate the taller boy, before Ellie’s Cenn spoke up.
“Boys, boys, settle down now,” Mx. Rainor said in a stern, but light voice.
The car ride home was quiet after that. Air light, atmosphere heavy.
-
They got home and were sent to their respective rooms. The taller of the two snuck out though, hiding behind the wall of the living room after walking down with minimal noise. He just...needed to know if they were upset, is all. He didn’t want to end up a burden or anything, y’know—

“Why’re we listening to them?” Ellie said unexpectedly behind him. Mell nearly jumped, the other boys presence a shock.
“What’re you doing here!!” He whisper-yelled. He was ok with getting in trouble if he got caught, but he didn’t want to drag Ellie into it too! :( “Whatever, just— please be quiet?” It came out more like a soft question, to which the raven haired boy agreed.
...The two adults hadn’t seemed to notice. Or, if they did, they didn’t comment. He couldn’t tell which was worse.
“You didn’t answer my question,”
Now Isn’t The Time Ellie. He put a hand on over his mouth just as Ms. started speaking again.
“I know he didn’t mean it—“
“Probably—“
A sigh. “Probably,” she repeated. Put her hand on the side of her face. “It's happened often enough that I’m...hh. He’s going to eventually get hurt badly enough that not even we can help, and what then? Hon, this is the second fight this week. I’m worried about him.”
Mx. put their hand on her shoulder. Surprisingly, they were a rather strong willed person, no matter how fun they acted, or emotional they were. He kinda admired that about them, even with how blurred they got at times.
“Yeah, I get that dear. I’m worried for him too,” They pull her in a hug, one hand holding the other side of her face. It was kinda awkward, the positioning, but they made it work.
They’ve always made it work.
They kiss her nose lightly, smiling slightly at her red face and soft smile, before frowning again.
“I know you’re stressed, but I feel like it's gonna get worse as time goes on. If anything, we can get him to try out extra hobbies or clubs with Ellie.”
“You’re probably right, yeah,” she heaved, looking down. Suddenly, she beamed, looking up “Y’know…” she started,
“Oh no.”
“Hey!” A giggle. “Nothing bad, I promise.”
A raised eyebrow. “You sure?”
“Positive.”
“Ok, shoot. What’s your grand idea, love?”
Happy noises! “It’s still his birthday today, what if we had a cook out later? Just the four of us...for time's sake?”
A silence. “...Ok.” they agreed.
“SWEET!” and soon enough she barrel hugged them, smooching their face all over and headbutting her face on their top area. Mx. was giggling a storm, petting her head affectionately.
That’s when Ellie decided he was tired of being ignored, and licked Mell’s hand.
“EEE—“ he screeched before shutting up, twacking Ellies head with his dirtied hand and making shushing noises. But it was too late, they'd been caught. Ellie stuck his tongue out playfully, which, in turn, caused Mell to chase him up the stairs.
The two adults stared at each other for a moment before bursting into laughter
x
They went out later, just as they had heard. It was..a good outing, if you could call it that. They had lots of fun, no doubt about that. The nagging feeling in the back of his head hadn’t gone, and he was still very anxious to go back, but for now…
It was late out, and Ellie’s parents were putting away the dishes as the boys played in the backyard. They were stargazing, staring up at the sky and trying to find pictures in dots of bright white. The horizons dark hue faded into soft pinks and yellows as the sun continued to set, the areas pigmented red bleeding in. At least, red for Mell. As far as he’s concerned, that's how it's always been. The comic decided the colors, and the fic writers followed suit.
“Hey, Ellie?” he turned to him suddenly
“Mm?” He stared at him, face glistening off soft beams of light coming from the house window. Ellie’s face was kinda red, was he sick? It was the middle of summer though, maybe it was the heat?
The lemon eyed boy shook his head, expression turning curious. “What happens when we die?”
Ellies blush fell quicker than he did for Mell [w h a ?], and he looked away. “Why do you ask?” He deflected.
He wasn’t sure if he should call him out on it. Or what the writer meant by that. Former deals first? “You never answer when I ask. Consider it a birthday wish! For me?”
The shorter of the two didn’t respond. He looked like he might be shaking. What could a question like that have hidden?
“...Nah” He shrugged.
“Aww, Ellie, c’mon! I promise I won’t ask after thissss…” He used his best pleading eyes, but even that didn’t shake the boy.
The shorters’ arms were definitely shaking now. “I just don’t see why it's that important.”
He threw his hands up. “I’m curious! Where do we go when we die, what's the big deal with that question? Why do you avoid it so much?”
———
“Mell.” He whispered.
“I just! Want to know? What's the big controversy of it! What happens when we die?”
“Mell.” He said again, louder
“It’s been bugging me for a while, sooo. I just? Really wanna know, Ellie. Where do we go? Are we reincarnation like puppets? Is there like a galaxy station dead people go too? Are there rules after you die? Wha-“
At that moment, he knew two things.
Ellies lips were very soft.
He tasted like candy and bbq sauce.
(that was probably cause thats what they had for dinner but shh)
”!!???”
The shorter boy blushed red like a fire hydrant, lips parted before biting at his bottom. He looked away before apologizing profusely.
———
“You...wouldn’t stop asking that. I don’t wanna think about it today. It’s your birthday, after all!” he grinned widely. “Don’t wanna ruin it with death and stuff.”
“Yeah, but!!” he whined. “I asked! You never answer either way..I just. Wanna know.”
(Mell out here being oblivious as always. Smooth.) [shut your fuck-]
The boy in question ignored the writer. This was a memory, after all. A memory made by a fan, who has no concept of the original verse. Splitting this to a whole new AU. An AU that would never be canon, just like the possibility of his happiness.
Fun.
Ellie took no notice of his current crisis, content to stare into the sky in adoration. The high of being affectionate to your crush is very intoxicating, after all. (Could’ve asked for consent though, little fuck,)
He should be thankful. Thankful, that however bad he may be at lying, he still could rely on Mells’ obliviousness to cover for him. So he’d never have to face those feelings head on.
Maybe that’s why he’d never confess — not now or ever. Because he was scared. Because Mell's happiness came before him no matter what. Didn't matter if he was tearing up in anger, or crying, he needed to be there for him.
Who else would?
The air grew tense as the boys spiraled down into their own breakdowns, neither acknowledging each other anymore.
It wasn’t until Mell heard the sharp caws of a nearby crow did it stop, the bird standing just ~6 feet away. He glanced at Ellie, who was still lost in thought, before deciding ‘fuck it’.
The chase began, Mell sprinting as fast as he could, almost catching up to them at one point! But he was no match for someone with wings, the bird narrowly dodging his advances. Watching from the side, Ellie had picked up his head and was staring at the boy, sparkles in his eyes and a light red tint over his cheeks.
He was smiling, and that's all the permission Mell needed to continue.
He ran after them again, squeezing his eyes shut and biting at the empty air, arms waving wildly as he tried to capture the dubbed prey.
Surprisingly! He caught them that time, accidentally biting his lip and bleeding over the birds feathers. The crow in question was uncannily quiet, pretending to play dead to avoid the possibly of him crunching down more with his sharp edged teeth.
The yellow eyed boy smiled widely, hands holding onto the feathered animal in his mouth and turning to Ellie so fast he nearly got whiplash. The blood from his wound leaked badly, staining his teeth and getting on his face and clothes with the sudden movement. His pupils had dilated largely, the iris barely visible.
He looked like he came out of a horror movie to Elliot.
The older stood stock still, unsure what to do in this situation. On one hand, he could call for his parents, or, on the other...he could try dealing with it himself.
The boy was conflicted for a second too long. Dark, chocolatey brown hair swishing wildly in his field of vision as the lemon eyed boy ran toward his friend. Stopping in front of him, the shorter didn’t dare to move, let alone breathe. Mell’s pupils were wide, taking up most of his iris, the bare rims a faint brown color now instead of his bright orang—
[ehem]
Sorry, yellow eyes. Either way, terrifying to see, even at the old age of 13.
He was only able to commit with his faithful relationship to motion again when the taller tilted his head sideways. Taking in a shaky breath, the red dressed kid took the corvid out of the others mouth, setting it down away from him. It hopped off, possibly to warn the others.
He turned back to him, his best friend, and wiped his cheek with his shirt.
“You’re bleeding.” Stating the obvious, Elliot made the quick decision to pull him in a hug. Then, like..it....No warning, he pulled the boy to his feet, stumbling a bit with his weight. Tugging, they both headed to the back door. Going up the stairs and down the halls, somehow not getting caught despite the red smudges in the grass and near the walls. How’d he even hit the wall??
‘Bathroom Bathroom Bathroom’ repeated like a mantra in the boys head, his best friend not really paying attention to their surroundings anymore. He seemed confused. Maybe a hint concerned. Not for him— more for Ellie.
He snagged the aid kit from the cabinet under the sink and took out a roll of wipes.
‘You gotta clean wounds first..right??’
He hopes that's what you’re supposed to do— or he’s fucking stuff up and actually hurting his best friend?? Man, he might not be religious but he’s praying that he can take care of this for now.
He’s gonna get better at this. For him.
He promises.
“Elllliiiieeeeee :(“
“Mmm?”
“It stings.”
“Yeah, these do that,” He says, focusing on wiping the blood off again.
After it’s

Drag Race UK season 5 favourites:
1 - Cara Melle - been following her for a while so she’s a personal fav
2 - Kate Butch, I love Kate bush so it’s only fair.
3 - Ginger Johnson - very attracted to her out of drag. But that’s about it
4 - Miss Naomi Carter - I want to get wasted with her. Fight me.
5 - uhh…. Alexis saint pete? I can’t remember her name but the polish one. I really felt bad for when Dede really came for her and I hope they lip sync against each other and alexis sends her home.
