just wrote like a billion paragraphs on how I write c!tommy’s mentol illnesses whoops

Autism: While chaotic, Tommy does best in structured environments to a degree, needing some sort of routine to function. He's easily attached to comfort items and requires them for his day-to-day life. He struggles with social skills, primarily indicated by his inability to tell when he should stop joking around- he’s learnt surprising emotional intelligence to get around that. In general, he struggles to function on his own despite being fairly intelligent and very vocal, and as such latches into others for support. He’s also got extreme sensory issues, to the point he can only wear clothes he sews himself.

ADHD: Tommy has extremely severe ADHD, to the point it’s debilitating in everyday life. He struggles to stick to one train of thought, and often completely forgets what he’s doing, leading to him often neglecting his own needs (though he also has… other reasons for that). He requires constant stimulation, and boredom is physically painful to him. He’s always moving around and doing something, and he struggles to wait even for a few minutes. His struggles to stay organised are another reason he tends to rely on being a follower to others.

OCD: Tommy struggles with moral scrupulousity of a very religious type, and deeply fears he is a sinner. He spends a lot of his free time in prayer to the Primes he loves, and obsessively honours them in every way he can. He gets intrusive thoughts about sin- especially those he was forced to commit- and he believes these thoughts are the reason his afterlife was so hellish, and has many compulsions he feels he needs to honour to punish himself for being so sinful.

BPD: Tommy has very wild changes in mood frequently, something he struggles to control and which leads to him making rash decisions. He quickly feels abandoned, and stews in the self loathing it causes. He’s desperate for any sort of affection and attention, even if it's warped and abusive. He tends to view people either as wonderful or as monsters, and struggles with grey areas.

Psychosis: Tommy struggles with hallucinations and delusions on a day to day basis. Generally, he mostly grapples with delusions- mostly assigning meaning to objects and people in a very literal sense- and delusions of persecution, and the hallucinations mostly affect him when he’s dealing with extreme stress. He struggles to verbalise and understand his thoughts, and often lashes out.

PTSD: Tommy is hyper vigilant due to trauma and struggles to feel relaxed. Even on a good day, he's always checking the walls and making sure he has a knife in reaching distance. The smallest thing can trigger a flashback, even things he once loved, and as such he's frequently withdrawn and sullen despite usually being outgoing and adventurous. He has severe insomnia, and often doesn’t sleep until his body physically cannot stand it anymore.

Depression: Tommy has severe suicidal ideation and frequently wishes he could die- only his knowledge of the nothingness after death and more importantly the fact he'll inevitably be revived keep him from ending his own life most days. He very frequently self harms, usually by simply letting the elements get to him. He also goes days at a time without eating, both to punish himself and as a method of self harm. He believes himself to be a burden on everyone he loves and that the world would be a better place if he never existed.

Anxiety: Tommy has frequent panic attacks, often so severe he's incoherent (these cause him deep embarrassment). He worries about every action he takes, and most of those he doesn’t. His most frequently worry is about his future- while this is influenced by being threatened with multiple horrific fates, this is something he’s always done. He’s also incredibly anxious his friends don’t love him anymore whenever they’re not as obsessively clingy as him- times like this tend to draw him back into self-destrucive behaviour.

In conclusion, Saffi really delivered for me this episode, which we love. Loved Sunny Ozzell's cameo. Not hating Rios/Teresa subplot, but man, Picard's storyline fell flat for me.

Vod asked me what the Dead Boyfriends Society’s feelings were towards each other and I thought it was dumb and funny so I’m gonna share it here

Warning for some T/M/A spoilers!

Henry:

Henry @ Gerry: First meets him at the archive and knows he's an avatar, has the vibe, but they don't see each other much, eventually talks to him after becoming an avatar and assumes the identity Jake, thinks he's class and wants to help out while also learning, they bond over music (Henry doesn't know much except instrumental), and they go out for cheeky nandos

Henry @ Michael: At first, very intrigued as he was marked by the Spiral after the Ouija board talk, looks into Michael Shelley and finds out more about entities and avatars, gets lost in the corridors for a bit till he finds him which surprises Michael, starts being followed and watched and grows fond of the distorted lad, helps stop the ritual but consequently becomes an avatar of the Stranger (marked early, further exacerbated by Angler Fish), Michael doesn't mind it and likes the company, become smitten with each other and bond over identity issues

Henry @ Mike: finds out about him through statements and goes digging, assumes the identity James, kind of stalks him at local cafes and bookstores, Mike quickly notices and almost throws him off a building but sees he's been marked by multiple entities and us like "I don't want my stalker to end up aligned with the Vast" and let's him go, they eventually talk over tea and that's when Henry really learns about avatars and how to become one, bond over early marking and estrangement in childhood

Michael:

Michael @ Henry: Sees that the new archivist assistant is aligned with the Eye and starts following him, sees he's been marked by the Spiral and is all "ooh shrimpteresting", makes the corridors confusing in hopes of him getting lost, fails but doesn't mind it, sees that the Stranger is very interested as well and uses that to his advantage to stop the ritual, slightly upset over him becoming an avatar of it but starts to grow fond of the little puppet lad, Henry doesn't prod him over his past which he likes, and gets to interact with the archivist more so he likes having him around, he's not sure if what he feels is love or power, but he wouldn't mind falling for him so he does

Michael @ Gerry: "please stop burning my friends" "no" "fuck you", "oh you're burning the other ones too, that's fair" "yeah", "stop fucking with the archivist please" "no :3" "alright then", they wind up as allies since they both want the ritual to fail, but they keep a distance, only really start to know each other from Henry, Gerry also ran into him as Michael Shelley and misses the poor lad but he knows nothing will bring him back so he doesn't bother to bring it up, even when they start their relationship he can't help but see those parts of him and feel bittersweet over it

Michael @ Mike: "quit your avatar and join my spiral band" "no (jumps off a building" "well then", still fond of him and his fractals, basically a stray cat that keeps showing up to his door, grows keen on him due to Henry, really likes how well he fits in his arms, traces his scars, a bit smitten but Mike won't admit he likes the attention, door portal time

Gerry:

Gerry @ Henry: "oh ew an entity sugar baby", doesn't recognize Henry as Jake at first until he Beholds and sees he's an avatar of the Stranger, a bit wary of him but he seems intrigued enough to let him in on some info, also sees he's aligned with the Eye, lets Henry in on his hunt for Leitners, shares his music, has the most fun he's had in years, Henry uses his Stranger abilities to get backstage for his favorite band and then he starts getting feelings, they start dating reluctantly and become quite the nosy pair much to Jon's dismay

Gerry @ Michael: went over most of it, but he felt bad for him back as his time as an archivist assistant, was torn up when Gertrude said he had died, doesn't recognize him immediately but Eye stuff shows him it is him, avoids him since he's still a bit bruised about it, Henry drags him back into life, they start actually talking and bonding and while he won't admit he's soft for him Michael is too cute and clingy to ignore, hair braid gang

Gerry @ Mike: "go off short king!!", bit peeved at him throwing people off high places but he understands, still wants to get rid of his book but nuh uh not happening, "oh he's actually really polite", gets more info on book places thanks to him, "you want tats for your scars?" "No thanks" "cool" "...clouds would be pretty cool though" ":D", bond over actual books and gets him into music, thinks he's nice enough, I actually don't see them dating but I could see them being g really close friends, maybe grow fond over time with stargazing and info sharing

Mike:

Mike @ Henry: initially put off by stalking at first, but sees he's just trying to get info, pretty closed off till the Throwing Him Off A Building moment then humors his curiosity, sees they are quite similar and lets him in on be coming an avatar, annoyed that he attracts Stray Cat Michael but sees it's just his thing to attract creatures and avatars, lots of reading and tea time and couch cuddles during especially bad storms

Mike @ Michael: "VAST. THERE'S A WEIRD FUCKING CAT OUT HERE.", "please leave me alone" "ha ha don't jump off a building, your scars are so sexy aa", still gets followed but eh he's used to it, "do you at least want some tea?" "(Skitters) maybe", finally really talk thanks to Henry, kind of digs the big twisty hugs, won't admit he's choked up over Michael giving him his scarf, "how is your hair both terrifying and soft" "that be the mentol illness luv"

Mike @ Gerry: "I want your book" "no :)" "fuck", "I'll give you these books though" "brilliant", pleasant tea time, does get cloud tats, gets a bit flustered at all the art he gives him because his apartment is pretty bare save for his book collection, really loves percussive music cause it sounds like rain, good friends, a bit of a crush but won't make the first move
