I realized I should probably mention what happens when a predator mer meets the few and very rare prey mer who refuses to abandon thier child, if the predator mer is mated to another the pair will assist the prey parent and escort them to a safer area as predatory mer is a child is visibly near, do not feel right making that child an orphan.

Now if the predatory mer does not have a mate, they will (if the Pred doesn't have children.)(the other prey parents will alway abandoned thier mate if their mate refuses to leave the unfortunately child or children behind, due to the rarity of theses types of prey mer they're never able to find a mate of their species with the same instinct) will see this prey as a potential mate and try to court them, knowing full well that they will never be able to have their blood children with said mate.

If the predator mer does have children but not a mate, they will still try to court the protective prey parent, this usually ends up with them raising their children together even if they do not become mates.

There is also the rarity where a predatory mer finds a particular prey that causes them to become fascinated or infatuated on first sight or(if in captivity with repeated exposures to a prey with the right type of behavior), they tend to. Well, you've already seen what happened in some of the mermay fics I've already posted where Sun and Moon are the predators.

🍬 Treat! :D I posted a disturbing excerpt from Like Snow on Hungry Graves earlier, so here's some less-disturbing trivia!

Konstantine is inspired by this post. I have so many ideas for what his dragon form looks like, but I haven't picked a final one yet.

Most of the characters are named after real people from Georgian history. It started as a handy way of making sure I used real Georgian names, then I decided I might as well stick with it :P Hariye is the only exception, because his name is fictional. Everyone else: Rusudan, Darejan, Ketevan, and Konstantine (whose alias Cheng Yin is borrowed from the main character of Goodbye My Princess). Elamirja is a funny case because he isn't from fantasy Georgia, but his name is adapted from El-Mirza.

Ji-hun, the villain of Houses Full of Deceit, originated as a minor character in LSOHG. Reiji very nearly also migrated over to HFOD (which would have added a whole lot of complications, because he and Ji-hun hate each other), but I decided Rusudan needs more than one second-in-command. Darejan can't cope with all that drama alone :P

Despite what Hariye thinks, he isn't the last surviving mer. At least two others will appear in book two.

Rusudan's group wear bracelets that will automatically kill them if they betray her.

Rusudan is inspired by Hua Cheng and Elamirja is inspired by He Xuan from Tian Guan Ci Fu.

Reiji's name is borrowed from a minor character in Death Note.

I spent ages on Wikipedia reading about the Mongol invasions of Georgia. I haven't found a way to work this information in yet, but Rusudan and Reiji met and began to work together during the fantasy equivalent of the Mongol invasions.

There is exactly one (1) human character in the main cast: Ketevan. Everyone else is a dragon (Konstantine and Reiji), undead (Rusudan), a mer (Hariye and Darejan), or an undead dragon (Elamirja).

Requirements? What is this a pony show? No, Briengr does not have a long list of requirements for you to be his partner, nor does he have a specific type. - Meri is.... well, Meri. Surprisingly he might be one of the easiest for Kritana to look after since under the effects of the love potion, he's entirely focused on whoever it is that he "fell for" to the point that there's none of his usual Shenanigans to look out for

- To be honest, her safest bet is to just leave him with whoever it is he has his sights on (within reason) because the Moment she tries to take him away, he's kicking and screaming!!

- It'd probably be easy to subdue him if it wasn't for the fact she has three other mermaids to look after ajfjsjjxs

- Bellus is really just his usual self! Or... at least seems to be. He still has his flirty moments, compliments people he thinks are pretty, but he's a lot more... subdued

- like he's lost interest in everyone

- it isn't until someone mentions Percy flying by and Bellus tries to fucking get out the nearest window to see him is it obvious that he's under the potion too. Kritana has to keep this fucker from jumping into the ocean around Piraticus and swimming away where she can't reach!! He ends up being the second biggest handful to deal with if she doesn't want a runaway mermaid

- Kenn is trying, he really is. His habit of looking out for people he cares about has been focused entirely on whoever it is he came into contact with after his dosage, so now whoever it is being buried under gifts by a smothering yet well-intentioned Kenn

- He does listen to Kritana more than Meri!! He still keeps lingering with whoever he's in "love" with, but he'll listen long enough to pull away from them when Kritana asks. Really, the main problem she has to deal with is him constantly getting distracted by things wondering if his person would like this or want that

- On the bright side, he does help her wrangle in the other Mers. But he has a constant longing air as long as he's away from his "love"

- Caspian is a Menace. Until the other Mers, he grew up away from even Neverland civilization with a morally grey at best adult being one of the only two people in his life. So when he's under the love potion affect, he also wants to always be with his "love" but unlike the others who wanna go to them, he's taking Them to Him

- Yeah this man is straight up hunting down whatever poor fucker managed to catch his eye. He'll even go back to his merform if it'll help, which has the threat of Literally Breaking The Piraticus Ship. Kritana really has her hands full ☆
