a long rant/idea/rambling of how i want bbc merlin plot to go

Season 1

General: stays the same (light-hearted season) but merlin starts to question gaius and kilgharrah, empathizes with morgana. Elyan is introduced somewhere between episodes. Gwen father didn’t die. Mordred ISN’T introduced yet. Morgana is gaslighted by merlin + gaius (not forever i swear guys)

Finale: merlin vs nimueh (epic battle this time), merlin is almost close to loosing but gaius helps him, however nimueh survives

Season 2

General: introduction of mordred on the second ep (merlin hates him), ep 1 is abt balinor (mentor figure for merlin + should meet with hunnith), arthur finds out abt ygraine (and yes merlin lied abt it) + starts questioning uther, we got more arthur’s pov when merlin is at the ‘tavern’ (episodes where merlin is not there and focuses on arthur instead), morgana finds out abt her magic. Freya + gwen romance plotline happened. Percival + Gwaine introduction, merthur kiss but they never acknowledge it (yep they’re in denial)

Finale: kilgharrah lost hope of merlin so he turns to nimueh (in a hidden scene nimueh told arthur the truth abt his birth), nimueh + uther battle (but nimueh lost NOO), balinor DIES, merlin stops kilgharrah, glimpse of morgause (at the ep end). Morgana made a decision to kill uther

Season 3

General: aithusa is born (morgana + kilgharrah + merlin really likes her), morgana villain arc (she finds out that merlin is gatekeeping magic from her + merlin trying to kill mordred lmao), either morgwen romance or gwencelot (i can’t choose), gwen’s father died, this season = gwen’s arc

Finale: magic reveal, uther’s death, morgouse + morgana attacked the castle, morgana and morgouse fighting + breaking of to their own path (morgana realizes morgause is kind of twisted evil)

Season 4

General: arthur banning merlin from camelot (merlin runaway arc), arthur + gwen + the knights running the kingdom, morgana redemption arc, morgouse + aggravaine becomes main villain, political shit in camelot (like other kingdom who also despises sorcery/power manipulation, an in-depth look of other kingdoms), GAIUS DIES, hunnith + aithusa + kilgharrah scenes, mordred + merlin + morgana bonding, ygraine scenes, arthur trying to forget merlin but CANT, oh and aggravaine is also a villain here but he actually has personality and pure evil, arthur getting excalibur, arthur is really struggling to find himself here (to be like his father or follows his heart). Btw merlin is there and it shows every time magic related enemies attacks camelot/everytime arthur is about to die really but he’s literally in the shadows now and arthur pretends not to notice

Finale: morgause + aggravaine attacking the kingdom, arthur accepts + forgiving merlin + morgana back and assign them as court sorceress + court physician, hunnith scenes, arthur tolerating magic, adopting mordred (apology for killing his father lol), probably adopting aithusa

Season 5

General: arthur lifts the ban against magic, marrying merlin, cendred is a villain here (however he is introduced in s4), merlin GETTING A STAFF (also introduced in previous seasons but he’s worthy of it here, arthur made it btw and it’s a power up for melrin)

Finale: morgause + cendred finale attack, a few deaths (they won thoe cuz this is the good ending)

End:

Camelot brings a new era (symbolizing change)

Arthur: King

Merlin: Queen

Gwen: Court Advisor

Morgana: Court Sorceress

Aithusa: Court Dragon

Why i think merthur should be canon:

1) they’re gay

2) real reason: so i think its good for the plot too since magic is a euphemism for gay, relates to the theme of arthur bringing change to camelot but other than marrying a servant, he marries a MALE servant who has magic ☺️🫶😘🙏

Series ends with everyone at the roundtable, gathering for a meeting

I'm still mad about how Merlin ended. honestly, it could have been so much more satisfying than what we got. Arthur should have found out about Merlin's magic at the end of season 4. Then in season 5, we could have seen how that affects their relationship. In the ep where Uther comes back as a ghost, their relationship would still have been strained but then when Uther tries to kill Merlin, Arthur realises that he still cares about him and they slowly start to mend their relationship and Arthur starts learning the truth about magic. And Arthur starting to take steps to legalise magic. And uniting the kingdoms by creating alliances in the war against Morgana. Up until the end, we could have had hope for a happy ending, and then they could have crushed our hearts by killing Arthur. And like instead of Merlin only becoming more and more depressed and cynical, we could have seen him become optimistic again, only for Arthur to die.

I'm still a Merlin fan I was raised on Arthurian legends the history and stories always fascinated me, my grandfather used to tell me the stories of old many happy memories come from them....

Yet when you've watched every episode around six times wishing that.

Lancelot didn't go through that vail and Merlin stood up to callieach (seriously his a warlock she's just a gatekeeper!)

Merlin actually stood up to morgana and helped her 🤦🏼‍♀️

Arthur lived if Merlin called that bloody dragon!

The knights worked out the cup of life was the holy grail 🤦‍♀️

Leon actually Worked out he was immortal

Merlin went to Avalon and gave up staring at that bloody gate in the middle of that bloody lake!!

And it still doesn't bloody happen... Well, you kinda have to move on!

It would be so funny if there was NO timeskip WHATSOEVER during the first 3 seasons of BBC Merlin. Like, that boy be having THE busiest trimmest of his entire life. The end of season 3 isn't Morgana taking over Camelot, it's Merlin holding the medieval equivalent of a gun to Arthur's head and locking him in his room just so that he can sleep for 8 uninterrupted hours for the first time since he got there.

So I haven’t abandoned this!

Merlin season 1 episodes 10 and 11!

Merlin episodes 10: The Moment of Truth

So we get a look at Merlin’s hometown this episode! We get to meet Merlin’s mother Hunith. She is the fucking best and I love her.

We also get Morgana being a total badass!

This episode also introduces us to Will who has major ex-boyfriend vibes with Merlin. Here’s dear Will.

Ohh shit I kind of forgot to tell ya the reason everyone is back in Merlin’s hometown it’s your good old fashioned bandits.

Solid episode. I like the lord drop. 4/5 stars

Ep 11: The Labyrinth of Gedref

We get to see a Unicorn in this episode! That was cool!

This episode really delves in to Arthur and his thought process which was neat. I do enjoy the way his relationship with Merlin is further explored here and the trust that has begun to develop between them.

The idea of actions having consequences is very apparent in this episode. I enjoy how Arthur is shown to be a very different sort of King then is Father has been. As it is clear he cares more for his people then is Father ever did.

4/5 stars.

Finished the last two episodes of merlin today and wow i started september 9th and finished today, 14th october. Still the same year at least. Tbh it took me that long bc i usually watch anime and stuff and thats got 20-25 minute episodes unlike merlin with around double that at 40-50 minutes, plus iv been busy and i also didnt know it was on disney+ untill i got to the last season, but whem that happened it only took me under a week to finish it as i had finished season 4 ep 13 monday the 9th and finished season 5 ep 13 today which is saturday the 14th.

But i have so many questions

So warning spoilers below

Why is there no season 6? It seems quite popular so i dont get why it didnt get another season, unless it wasnt as popular as i thought. What happened to the baby dragon? Why did it like morgana so much. What was with the old man from the episode where the crystal caves were introduced. And what about the bridge guarded form the episode where the see the fisher king. What about alice? And the boy who used magic at the tournament? Why kill lancelot. And why kill gwain and arthur. Why the fuck does percival not have a backstory? Where is he from who is he, we never find out. What the fuck is up with the ending. Why does it end like that and how the fuck old is he and how is he that old. That is merlin in the ending right? What happened to merlins mum? Is she ok? So many questions. A season 6 isnt impossible it just would work as well as they would either have to get new actors which would look weird or they would have to do a time skip which ehhh. Actually maybe it could work a 10 timeskip actually doesnt sound that bad. Also the tention between merlina nd arthur near the end????HELLO??What was that? "MERLIN: I can. I'm not going to lose you." "ARTHUR: Just, just hold me. Please." "[Arthur turns his head more and looks at Merlin.] Thank you.[Arthur reaches up and touches Merlin on the back of the head. His hand falls.]" "Merlin manages to get out from underneath Arthur. He presses his forehead against Arthur's." ????i am frothing at the mouth rn bc. What. The . Fuck. Is with that tension. Hoooo boy. I genuinely thought for a few momwnt in some scenes that they were gonna kiss or something bc that tensions. Wow.it was just so.argh.also the hand cathing the sword at the end?!?!?

Anyway yeha

Oh also why does there also seem to be someone dying every fucking episode
