She looked as pinched as every other blazing noblewoman I’ve met, but there was something about her expression—” Hawke says, swinging along the tidy streets of Hightown toward the dust up. “She— smirked.” “She smirked.” Fenris’ flat tone is somehow flatter. “Yeah, her smirk. I mean I can’t blame her. I am me. But it was— nice. And… weirdly familiar.” “Pinched she may be, but that girl’s been plucked,” remarks Isabela with a wry twist of her lips. “What do you mean she’s been plucked?” asks Merrill. “Because she’s a Rose?” “Yes, because she’s a Rose,” answers Isabela.

Most comments, Most words: Lost Templar in Skyhold (Carver Hawke x Merrill)

I swear it is not abandoned! Carver Hawke as the inquisitor, with Merrill at his side. A bit of a retelling, but I have a lot of things planned that deviate from canon. I mean, Merrill is there, asking Solas questions. And Carver is a rather rebellious inquisitor and not willing to dance along the chantry line.

It currently ends after the attack on Heaven and the blizzard and I just... need to find the focus for part two.

In my ongoing obsession with writing fenders ficlets, this ficlet with just 295 words actually stayed a ficlet (unlike other ficlets that suddenly developed several chapters).

My headcanon, which relies on Clan Lavellan surviving bc it would be too horribly sad otherwise, is that Merrill took up Isabella's offer to gtfo of Kirkwall... on the condition that she got to take what was left of the Alienage with her. She took them, traveled around the Free Marches, eventually ending up near Wycome where a certain clan had just lost its First and probably some hunters and is notably canonical pretty chill with city elves... leading to Merrill becoming Deshanna's new first, in time, and (Inquisitor actions dependent) then Keeper to Clan Lavrllan once she was sure Deshanna could ensure the safety of those who wanted to stay in Wycome.

it took me a minute to respond to this message because the concept of my lavellan x merrill hit me over the head like a comically large mallet. anyway. moving on

that would be cute!! i feel like kirkwall is, being kirkwall, you know, not the ideal place to stick around. i wonder if it’s practical for an alienage to move like that but maybe if they had resources via friends like hawke and varric. (i imagine that my hawke, as a fugitive on the road, doesn’t really have useful access to his own resources, and he would absolutely give the go-ahead for them to be at merrill’s disposal instead. orana’s, too.) it would be hard for merrill to settle into a new clan but i like to think that she could do better there and be appreciated more and reconnect with her people

halcor brosca (male; rogue; morrigan, then nathaniel) my canon warden, and someone i haven't written in many years but have been thinking about again recently. very rough around the edges, blunt, practical. has a terrible habit of diving headfirst into danger. he's enamored of magic and trust(ed?) morrigan 100% on everything magical - he also performed the ritual with her, so kieran is his son, although he never met him. afterwards during awakening canon he ended up with nathaniel - a surprise, especially since he didn't even know he was into men as well, but late nights talking around the fire slowly became more.

They had their place over the cliffside, away from the Inquisitor’s watchful eyes or, possibly, Taliesen’s watchful eyes. She didn’t want to tell herself, which one she felt.

Merrill sat herself by their small firepit, not nearly enough warmth for two. Goosebumps rippling on her arms as she peered over at the elf beside her. The neighing of gurguts, fast asleep in caves beneath them, was the one sound they had. Though they were not far enough away from the giggles of Taliesen and Sera, a reminder of the distance that she chose.

“Here. Allow me.” Abelas’s hand splayed out, magic ready to blanket warmth over Merrill.

“You needn’t worry.” Merrill shook her head.

Pressing her own over his armored ones, wrestling the urge to tug them off of him. So she lets them be shelled away.

“Why have you decided to come out here?” He finally asks, his voice muted.

The sentinel elf hushed with secrets forced back. Merrill didn’t have her own answers either, merely droplets of curiosity. She wanted her answers, but knew that there will be none.

“You didn’t want to be seen.” Her arms huddled around her legs. “This is the best we could have.”

“That is not what I asked…”

“Would you rather be at camp, be seen by the Inquisitor?” Merrill snaps back, her brows furrowed. “I would find that preferable.”

“No.” Abelas closed his eyes, the answer was obvious.

They were startled by the elven lovebirds behind them, it was by luck that the two were able to keep their privacy. It lifted up a smile on Merrill when she hears her friend able to find joy with another person.

“Do you know where Solas went?”

“I cannot say.” Abelas sighs. “It will be better for both of us if I didn’t.”

“But you do know where he went.” Her scowl returned.

“I no longer follow his purpose. You are in no danger from me.” The Guardian had his own scowl. “Leave it at that.”

Merrill sighed, knowing better than to tempt fate with a mage so old.

“I remembered the first time we talked, when you came to Skyhold.”

“You were the first one to come to me with questions.” Abelas grinned, feeling a bit of warmth that their camp lacked. “Admitted, too many to answer.”

“It's a Keeper's job to remember, even the dangerous things. I trained to be the Keeper for my clan, and you knew more than most ever could. I assumed the Inquisitor had her own questions.” Merrill pursed her lips, the shocking first time she saw Tali’s bare face still so clear to her, “But something must have broken in her.”

“I have warned you before, your answers might not be the ones your seek.”

“Why did you indulge me?” Merrill slowly blinked, grasping tight at her arm.

“We were servants of Mythal, chosen us to protect her knowledge. We never had a choice, the temple was all that existed.” Abelas folded back his hood, his emerald green eyes finally shining fully. “You were my first choice.”

Merrill’s eyes shot wide. “What will you choose now?”

“I am uncertain.” Abelas summoned a small ember for warmth. “You have shown me much that I want to consider about this world. I want to see more of it.”

“I can follow if you’re willing to let me.” Merrill lit her ember.

Abelas accepted, small as their flames were they will endure.

Welcome to my blog! Here you'll find OFMD brainrot (particularly Izzy/Ed/Stede) and Dragon Age ramblings.

For context, some of my Dragon Age OC’s. From right to left, top to bottom, we have:

Ambeth Lavellan: an elven warrior, Ambeth has no interest in being the inquisitor. Unfortunately, her protestations have fallen mostly on deaf ears. My only inquisitor who is also a mother, Ambeth is keenly aware of her son back with her clan. Her romance with Cullen was a slow, soft thing.

Alexandria ‘Alex’ Hawke: A soft, diplomatic girl who holds the world on her shoulders and always sees the good in those around her, Alex Hawke has a group of friends that would kill to keep her safe. She is immensely in love with her wife Merrill.

Merripen Lavellan: Merripen Lavellan was born a twin, and when his brother died from the plague, he devoted his life to Falon’Din, Elven God of Death and Fortune. Now, he lives a supposedly quiet life with The Iron Bull, although rumours abound about his close contact with his previous Spy Master and one Dorian Pavus, and what plans he may have for the future.

Aiden Hawke: my canon Hawke, my beloved, my angry boi, my favourite. Full of rage, Aiden started ripping the world apart when his sister was taken to the circle. He fell in love with Anders because of the work Anders was doing for the mage underground, a course he violently believed in. He was very, very tragic and very, very angry and I loved him with my whole soul.

DeLila Cadash: my canon inquisitor, my beloved, my girl, my favourite. The youngest of six, a warrior and a closet nerd, DeLila found a family in the inquisition she never thought she'd have. She misses them all dearly, but loves running rooftops with her wife, infamous Red Jenny Sera (extra pics and info: x x x)

Queen Lillian Hawke: A power hungry blood mage, Lillian finds it mildly funny that her friends, even her biographer, all also kinda hate her. Her relationship with Sebastian led to her claiming the title of Queen of Starkhaven, along with Champion of Kirkwall and Provisional Viscount of Kirkwall.

Aban Adaar: my sweet, shy mage qunari who loves gardening and his wife Lady Josephine Montilyet (extra pics and info: x x x x)

Jenny Hawke: Crazy, sacrastic, and a little obsessed with gold coin (if prone to over-spending with them), Jenny deflected all her problems with sarcasm. She also had a weakness for pirate queens.

Rust Cadash-Rainier: whatever her original name was, it's been lost to time. Now she goes by Rust and is learning to cook eggs with her husband (who, rumour has it, may once have been a war criminal, if one can believe the kindly man who spends his free time making toys for children is the same Thom Rainier that Orlais tried to execute), and also fighting to put a stop to Solas's stupidity (fightings in her bones, she could never put down her daggers) (extra pics and info x x x)
