Last night I dreamt I was watching a documentary about Mermaids and all mermaids are brought into existence female. “But what about the merman that swim with nurse sharks in the bay?” Those are trans merman. They don’t reproduce either. You see a young looking mer thing? They just shed their skin. OR a mer body part was cut off- that mer regrows it in like a week- and a new mermaid grew from that body part like a starfish. The mertheys are accepted by their friends that have blue hair and pronouns. They dye their hair other colors, mers are born with varying shades of blue hair and it takes forever to grow out, so if you see a mer with long hair, that bitch old.

The mermaid bends down to scoop up the baby turtle from the sand. Thalassa will always help sea life on the land and in the sea. That is why she has decided to dedicate her career to marine biology and ocean conservation. It is why she spent years at a human college after already having several degrees. That happens when you're over 300 years old. She looks back at the other.

"See if you can find anymore of her siblings. Let's give them a better chance at surviving, yeah?" The turtle is newborn, but if it was older, it would be thanking her in her mind. "These aren't the only ones I save. I have saved dolphins, otters, whales even. Humans tend to leave an ugly mark on our oceans, forgetting that they are teeming with life." She isn't just referring to ocean life, but also her kind. Bare feet pad across the sand, her legs itch to return to their true form----her tail.

“Don’t you like my gifts?” The mermaid looks over at the considerable pile of gifts she’s given you. Among the pile were things like seaglass,pearls and even some bones that you really didn’t want to think about.

“They’re fine...” you try to not sound annoyed or as sad as you really are knowing that’d only lead to her crying and that always lead to a giant storm. “I just wish you’d bring me something I could actually use. Like new clothes or a blanket”

The mermaid hums and her eyebrows furrows didn’t you like the clothes she’d weaved for you? Why did you need a blanket anyway...she made sure to pick the sunniest cave to keep you in so that the rock was almost always warm.

“I’m not sure. You know the other mermaids don’t really talk to me ever since I spared you instead of drowning you like everyone else on the boat.” You frown at the thought of all your dead friends but the mermaid doesn’t connect your frown to her past murder. “So I can’t trade with them.”

You sigh laying back down and turning your back to the girl. Hoping she’d just go back to hunting or whatever she did when she wasn’t with you “Nevermind it doesn’t really matter anyway.”

She prepares to try and comfort you when you both hear the sound of a distance ship horn. “Of course it matters. I’ll get all the human things I can from those less deserving humans.”

She disappears from the cave and without even turning around you know she’s making her way to the ship as fast as her fin will take her. You know that the water will be stained red and that by tomorrow you’ll have more blankets then you could ever need.———————————————————————-If you see me writing a lot of mermaid/merman/merthey things...it’s because I’m mentally ill
