I think Meryl Davis & Charlie White's 2012-13 Giselle RD is notable for two reasons:
1. It's a ballet-themed program that translates dance to the ice in a thoughtful and engaging way. So many programs that use ballet scores as their music are plagued by sloppy feet, poor turnout, and weird music cuts. Not Davis and White.
2. It's the only time the Yankee Polka has looked like fun and that is SAYING something because I'm going to call it out as The Worst of the pattern dances. There is no universe where the word "polka" conures elegance and ease...except for this program!

That first paragraph sounds like something Tessa might say today, down to the vocabulary, some of the second more vulnerable than she tends to be
Meryl Davis in 2018, talking about struggling after finishing competitive skating in 2014, from Finding New Purpose After Life as an Olympian
I didn’t question whether Meryl was still struggling in 2018 when I first read this, but that “I desperately want” feels like a red flag

Meryl was fun and likable on DWTS and any 30 seconds of ⬆️ video had 100x more chemistry with Maks than she ever did with Charlie😅
they shipbaited for all they were worth
but could any celebrity have more of an advantage on a ballroom dancing show than an Olympic🥇ice dancer?

You know what I'll forever mourn? Maks and Meryl never got to do an Argentine Tango. She did hers with Val that season. I would've loved to see it just to compare.
