Self Expression
I took a piece of paper
and wrote something down.
It was no good.
I wasn't too proud.
I attempted again.
Over and over.
But my lines kept getting
colder and colder.
I tried to say all I could.
Except the thoughts got jumbled.
Because my mind was sick.
And emptiness made me crumble.
I did not know how
To express all my hurt.
Tears stained the paper with my pain.
Which is the farthest I got at making things.
I got so angry.
I crumpled up the paper.
Threw it at the trash.
But I missed.
I can't even do one thing right.
I guess I'll have to quit.

New Skill Series - Crochet Part 5
Hello Everyone!
So, it was bound to happen. A standard part of learning a new skill is messing up. Because humans aren't perfect, "to err is human" as Alexander Pope famously said.
And boy, did I err.
So Crochet Lesson 5 was the Linen/Moss stitch following this video. It was supposed to come out like this:
Somewhere along the line I royally messed up cause my work does not look anywhere close. I'm going to scrap it and start again so hopefully Linen Stitch Take 2, goes better. For now, here's Take 1.
As I said, something went wrong. I have no idea where I went wrong. I have no idea how it started going round/curled. I think maybe I accidentally increased the stitches???
I have no clue what happend, I just know that I fucked it. But that's life right? And it's all apart of learning something new, so I won't be discouraged. Crochet has been coming very easily to me so far so it's a bit disappointing but not surprising that I hit a roadblock. Time to try again! Have you done Linen/Moss stitch? Did you struggle? Did you get it the first try? Did you give up on it? Let me know.

“It’s literally impossible to be a woman.
You are so beautiful, and so smart, and it kills me that you don't think you're good enough. Like, we have to always be extraordinary, but somehow, we're always doing it wrong?
You have to be thin, but not too thin, and you can never say you wanna be thin. You have to say you wanna be healthy, but also, you have to BE THIN.
You have to have money, but you can't ask for money because that's crass.
You have to be a boss, but you can't be mean.
You have to lead, but you can't squash other people's ideas.
You're supposed to love being a mother, but don't talk about your kids all the damn time.
You have to be a career woman, but also, always be looking out for other people.
You have to answer for men's bad behavior, which is INSANE, but if you point that out, you're accused of complaining!
You're supposed to stay pretty for men, but not so pretty that you tempt them too much or that you threaten other women because you're supposed to be a part of the sisterhood, but ALWAYS STAND OUT and ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL. But never forget that the system is rigged, so find a way to acknowledge that but ALSO, always be grateful!
You have to never get old. Never be rude. Never show off. Never be selfish. Never fall down. Never fail. Never show fear. Never get OUT OF LINE. It's too hard! It's too contradictory, and nobody gives you a medal or says 'thank you!' And it turns out, in fact, that not only are you doing everything wrong, but also, everything is your fault.
I'm just so tired of watching myself, and every single other woman tie herself into knots, so that people will like us.
And if all of that, is also true for a doll just representing a woman, then I don't even know." -Gloria the barbie movie
this is it. this is exactly it oh my god.

Once when I was in college I needed a picture of my fish for an assignment, but the fish lived at home so I text my brother to send me a picture and he asks "how close of a picture" and I say "pretty close" and he sends me this

PSA for Google Docs writers
[Edit] Also for Firefox, as per @essayofthoughts in the notes: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/delete-g-docs-type-to-insert/
If you (like me) use Google Doc to write fanfic, you may (like me) have been annoyed by the new "feature" they added in the past few weeks, "Smart Chips," where by default every time you open a new line it auto-inserts a "@" symbol and then prompts to add additional people into the doc for review or whatever other useless thing I immediately closed out of.
There doesn't appear to be a way to turn off this "feature" in GDocs however someone has put out an extension that nixes it:
