Why does mewtwo keep the Pokémon he rescues? Why doesn’t he find them a home with their own species or something?

I’m assuming this is referring to the group of Pokemon with Mewtwo in Pokemon Journeys?

I don't think it’s explicitly said that he’s keeping these Pokemon or forcing them to stay with him long-term. It’d be really surprising if he was, because one of the major lessons of Mewtwo Returns is that Mewtwo learns to let his clones go free. 

I'm under the impression that Mewtwo rescues this group of Pokemon because they were abused by humans, and he’s helping them in a way that'll allow them to live freely again. Like, he’s taking care of them for the time being while they heal, both physically and psychologically, until they feel comfortable with living on their own. For all I know, Cero Island is just a pit stop to somewhere else. 

As an aside, I can also see a situation where he brings abused Pokemon who for some reason can't be reintroduced to the wild back to Mt Quena to live with the clones that chose to stay.

But that’s just how I prefer to interpret the situation. What do y’all think?

Okay, I wound up coming up with some designs for my universe’s mew/newtwo. I can’t say what I wanna do with them just yet. They’re kinda in “story limbo” with Gaia and MIS.

They’re canon, but don’t really have a story purpose. If people really wanna see more of these 4 weirdos, then I may start an art ask blog with them where people can just ask random questions and I’ll answer them with some art as a little fun thing to do on the side while this is my main story.

(The names are just placeholders rn)

With and without name versions so if her name evolves and she reveals her level nature likes and dislikes you can add it into her reference

General vague lore idea was in an attempt to activate more of the very potent energy inside M1 and utilise more of his mew powers from being incubated in Lilith the scientists involved with this clone tried to bring it back to the basics and make it more mewish successfully getting rid of the second neck adding an extra toe bean and adding a paw pad though most features seem to have remained unchanged.

If One was like in a hypothetical scenario okay like out his tube like the others but still had his little Sprout would Sprout look different? One of those weird different scenario things better health = baby looks different etc or would Sprout still come out looking pretty similar?

When I was first gathering my characters I did a hypothetical complete One!

It’s outdated tho because after then I really established my world rules ALOT clearer especially when it comes to Mewtwos, like that his base fur was too pink to be a clone and I decided his normal green is the actual shiny green with no darkening needed.

So I updated it! Genetically complete and stable One! No pink, more stripes to match mom and newtwo sister Eve to his mewtwo lol as well as fluff! His softer chest plate and paws are actually completely possible if they’d be just a tad different.

Would his personality still be the same? Not sure, that’d be a completely different universe if they got a proper mewtwo the first try, maybe some other time I’ll expand on that as well as share other AUs I’ve come up with myself and with friends.

As for sprout? The only difference is the tail would be fully colored instead of faded in spots since they’d be fully incubated. ( ^w^ )

Oh boy mewtwo gwives me a headache, every time he is in a moovie the plot makes no sense, *sighs* I mean how come in mewtwo weturns he says he wants to have a purpose or basically something to do but then at the sMe time he says he just wants to live in pure’s rock in peace and quiet and sit on his rock?, dude just pick one!

Hi Anon! I hear you, but I think this is written intentionally!

After the events of Mewtwo Strikes Back, Mewtwo wants to bring his clones somewhere safe, which is why he's content to stay on Mt. Quena.

But, as you point out, he still wants to know who he is and what his purpose in life is. Being on Mt. Quena just isn’t enough. It’s a gilded cage. In a way, we see his internal conflict play out amongst his clones: half want to leave and live in the wider world even though it’s dangerous, while the other half want to stay and be safe and belong.

In the end, Mewtwo leaves Mt. Quena himself, which we can take to mean he wants to explore the world to learn more about it and himself.

Mewtwo is very human in that he wants contradictory things. Having complex human emotions emphasizes his conflict as being a Pokemon but also something else.

I actually really like this about Mewtwo, because it's pretty relatable! One day you may find that you want to figure out more about yourself and the world, but you're afraid to leave your current situation because it's comfortable and what you know.
