So, the leaks are weird. Defiantly don’t think anyone had ‘Edgeshot turns into Bakugou’s heart’ on their chapter prediction bingo list.

Part of that is because he’s such a nothing character. No one even new he could do this kind of thing with his Quirk. We’ve only seen a panel or two of him fighting, and all we have on his Quirk is the blurb we get when characters are introduced. He also has zero relationships with anyone either. Hori threw in a random panel flashback showing that BJ and him were in the same class, but BJ is also a background character. 

In principle I don’t hate it--though it does raise a lot of weird questions. Like will Edgeshot be conscious as Bakugou’s heart? How would anyone even know, including him, sense it’s not like he’d done this before? Is this going to be a living body horror situation where he’s just forever stuck in a heart shape? How does this even work? It’s honestly kind of creepy and if I was Bakugou I’d want a heart transplant as soon as one was available because I’d be terrified Edgeshot was stuck in a horrifying situation for how ever many years I lived.

I just find it weird that this really emotional moment was fixed by some guy we barely know and who has zero connection to Bakugou. The whole, BJ jean heart joke would have had a bit better of an emotional pay off then using Edgeshot--but I guess Hori couldn’t find a way to kill BJ if he went that direction.

Plus, Izuku’s not even there so unless we get some vestige stuff with Bakugou, his death doesn’t really seem necessary. If anything it, right now it feels like a cheap tactic to make hype for the story. 

If Bakugou died just so the adult Heroes could freak out and then show how much they want to help the next generation, there were better, less baiting ways. 

As for AfO having Rewind because of the bullets, I think that’s pretty cool. The only thing I’m not a fan of is that it seems that he’s saying he can’t control it so he’s going to Rewind back to nothing. That means this fight will have a set ending and all the Heroes have to do is stall until he disappears. It takes the stakes away from this fight as well as undermines whoever helps take AfO out, since he’s going to ‘poof’ either way. At least if the leaks got this bit translated right. 

All in all a weird chapter. Not good or bad, just...weird and kind of horrifying if you think to much into it.

bokuakakuroken where bokuken are insecure about each other. they think the other doesn’t want to be dating them. Kenma thinks Bokuto doesn’t want to spend time with him bc Bokuto is avoiding him, but really Bokuto thinks he annoys kenma so is trying to be considerate

MSBY thinks sakuatsu hate each other. They’re constantly fighting. They insult each other. They send volleyballs into each other’s heads. They’ve ended up physically fighting during practice more than once.

Except then they get caught from something silly. Atsumu always gets to practice way earlier than Kiyoomi because Kiyoomi sleeps in until the very last minute. And one day Kiyoomi shows up to practice wearing an Onigiri Miya t-shirt and has Atsumu’s water bottle.

“You left this at home.”

Kiyoomi shoves the water bottle in Atsumu face, and is oblivious to most of the team watching them in shock.

“I knew ya cared, Omi!”

“Next time I’ll let you die of dehydration.”

“But then who will set for ya?”

“Kageyama.”

Atsumu obviously pouts at that, but then gets that big, stupid smile on his face.

“But then who would cuddle ya and set your alarm for an hour later?”

This whole time the conversation is happening the team is gaping at them, and it’s probably Inunaki who asks what the fuck is going on. And it takes a lot of questions before Atsumu is finally like

“We live together? How is this weird?”

And that causes chaos until it’s Bokuto who gives the answer everyone is missing.

“They’ve been dating forever. Why wouldn’t they live together?”

Kiyoomi and Atsumu didn’t even really explicitly tell Bokuto they were together. Bokuto is just very emotionally aware and knew from the start.

Obviously everyone is confused still, arguing that they fight all the time. Except then Hinata is just as dumbfounded as Bokuto, because like all the relationships he knows are like that.

MSBY decides that the monster generation is just weird as fuck.

Thelreads, MHA 264, Replies Part 2

1) “WELL FUCK YOU HAWKS. I KNOW HE`S A VILLAIN, BUT HE`S NOT EVIL, AND YOU HUMILIATING HIM LIKE THAT DOESN`T MAKE YOU NOBLE OR HEROIC AT ALL”- Hawks knows. But I think this might be partial self-punishment on his part, aimed more at himself. After all, he’s the one that never actually trusted anybody, and even his own allies don’t really know the full deal with him thanks to his secretive nature. He’s basically thanking Twice for being genuine and trusting him wholeheartedly, because that’s something he’s never really done for him, and he appreciates it, even if he knows he doesn’t deserve it. Of course, that statement got taken completely the wrong way, so perhaps Hawks should have just kept it to himself. EDIT: The English Dub somewhat rephrases this as Twice lamenting that he put his trust in Hawks in part because of Giran’s advice that led to him joining the league in the first place, that he didn't want to lose faith in himself and ‘give into the darkness’ inside, becoming a lonely person who trusted nobody once more, just like he was when he relied on his quirk to make companions instead, with all the tragic consequences. Hawks is thanking Twice because Twice is admitting that he wants to be a ‘good’ person, and so Hawks thinks there’s still a chance that Twice can be ‘redeemed’ and not having to end the encounter with him in a body bag. Unfortunately, the crucial mistake both men are making is misunderstanding the definition of what the other sees as ‘good’, leading to Twice falling into a determined rage with Hawks because being ‘good’ to him is backing up his friends in the League no matter what happens to him personally. 2) “OH, SURE, NOW YOU SAY THAT. YOU KNOW, THOSE LAST FEW PAGES DIDN`T PAINT YOU IN A GOOD LIGHT, NOT ONE OF SOMEONE THAT WANTS TO HELP, I TELL YOU THAT.”- Hawks knows that Twice deserves a second chance, despite the danger he represents, and wants to at least offer him the option, because other heroes would just treat him as a threat to get taken down and locked away. In a sense, this whole fight wasn’t even necessary. Hawks could have simply knocked Twice unconscious with a blow to the head the minute the building shook, but it seems his sense of guilt towards how he used Twice made him hold back and explain everything, outlining how he’s the bad guy who used hawks to try and absolve him of the guilt he’d no doubt torture himself with once he woke up in a prison cell all alone. It’s insanely risky, but Hawks still goes for it, because he’s trying to work out an ‘ideal’ resolution that doesn’t end with needless death or Twice’s future getting destroyed forever. However, like the historical Icarus he’s patterned after, his hubris may yet prove his downfall… (MHA ch 258) 3) “oh so you`re already taking steps on that side Hawks? Nice. Because yeah, Twice isn`t evil, he`s just lost and this is the only people that care about him, he wouldn`t be here if he had a chance, if the world wasn`t that uncaring with him. It`s time someone reaches out to him it`s time for a friendly hand to pull him away from the darkness.”-Yeah… shame that Twice can’t see Hawks as a friendly hand now, not after he betrayed his trust and basically spat on the genuine friendships he formed with the League. 4) “Ah, now you`re showing some regret in your face. Alright, that`s good, that`s exactly what I want you to fell right now. You took advantage of him, and sure, it was for “the greater good”, but that still doesn`t change the hurt you caused to him”-And now, as the perspective switches to Hawks, we can see the regret and sadness in his face as he appears normally, showing how hawks’ threatening and menacing appearance before is how Twice perceives him now he knows the whole truth. And Hawks knows he can’t undo all the hurt his job has necessitated he cause Twice, but he still wants to try and blunt the worst of it as much as he’s able. 5) “…

oh no. Oh no, he`s angry now, isn`t he?”- Of all the things Hawks could have said to him, telling Twice he could ‘start over’ unwittingly reminded Twice of his prior mistreatment by those around him when he needed help and support the most, and how that spiralled down a path that lead to him feeling more alone and miserable than ever before. And because of that, he’s genuinely unable to see any good outcome from taking Hawks offer, so he might as well go down swinging for the sake of his friends that were there for him. 6) “PLEASE DON`T DO THAT

HAWKS IS ASKING YOU TO NOT DO IT

BECAUSE IF YOU DO, THEN HE WILL WILL BE FORCED TO ACT

AND THAT CAN ONLY MEANS ONE THING”- Hawks’ move here might have been lethal if Twice hadn’t moved fast enough, but on the other hand, ‘marking’ the original Twice ensures that he can’t lose track of him in the swarm he’s unleashing, ensuring he won’t mistake him for a clone in the confusion. If anything, it implies Hawks could have stabbed him straight through the head, but he’s intentionally holding back to try and subdue him as non-lethally as possible.

    (MHA ch 258) 7) “And now, time for the acting skills to be showcase once again, although it`s kind of lost in Twice, he doesn`t need much to be convinced, even more since he trusts Hawks. Dammit, it might hurt a bit once he finds out that the guy is a traitor, I`m not sure how Hawks is going to pull that one, recruiting Twice will be a little tricky, kidnapping is not out of the table yet”- Oh, it’s hurting a lot, on both sides of this fight.    (MHA ch 262)

8) “So, I guess that now we`ll see what the heroes were doing in the meantime at the hotel, right? Oh boy, I doubt that they could top Mirko ripping her fucking arm off like that, unless we get to see fat gum ripping off his own head and using it as a bowling ball to score a strike.”- Well, it doesn’t top it in terms of over-the-top violence intensity, but the emotional fallout between these two men who could have been friends is pretty gripping nonetheless.

9) “THAT WASN`T EVEN A DEATH FLAG FOR TWICE, THAT WAS A

DEATH SENTENCE

PLEASE HORIKOSHI NO”-

Interestingly, the dialogue on this page seems to be coming from Hawks more than Dabi, given his wide-eyed happy grin and visible anticipation of reaching Hawks, compared to the sombre tones of the statement. It seems hawks is pretty disillusioned with the concept of heroics at this point, given what he’s had to do in the name of the job, but he still does it anyway for the sake of the innocents who are counting in him to be ‘the hero’ in this situation, even if he knows that title doesn’t suit him.

10) “OH GOD NO, IF THERE IS ONE PERSON THAT THEY CAN`T STOP WITHOUT KILLING IS TWICE, THERE`S JUST NO WAY TO NEUTRALIZE HIS MOVE WITHOUT TAKING OUT ALL OF THEM, BECAUSE IF HE LEAVES EVEN ONE ALIVE THEY ARE GONNA KEEP COMING AND COMING.”-HAWKS IS TO BLAME FOR THIS, I WILL NEVER FORGIVE HIM IF THE WORST COMES TO HAPPEN. WHEN IT COMES TO HAPPEN.”-  If it helps, I don’t think Hawks will ever forgive himself either. It’s why he’s been dancing around the issue this whole chapter and trying to get twice to surrender peacefully as best he can, when he could have killed him at any point with a swift move. He doesn’t want to do this, but the situation will get worse if he doesn’t, so there’s no real happy outcome that can be achieved here. @thelreads

Hawks is a confusing character for me. He understands the great evil that lies behind the brilliance of pros. But he also refuses to go against it. He even offers Twice a place there for his kindness.

It's rare for me to not understand what's going on in a character's mind, but Hawks is just something else. His ideologies remind me a bit of Stain. You know, corruption in heroes and all that. The difference is just which role they chose to present themselves as and that Hawks seems incapable of bloodshed that's unnecessary. Horikoshi really likes reminding readers that heroes can also be bad. It's great.

ummm im probably going to get a LOT of shit from this but

MANGA SPOILERS

I see many people talking about how Hawks is a horrible person and how they hate him now they he’s betrayed the league and stuff, which I do not understand? There is no problem liking villian characters, hell, so do I! I think both Dabi and Twice are cool and are a product of their society. But yet again, I’m not a villain apologist. They as what they are, dont have the moral right to call Heroes “scumbags” or say theyre bad guys? I know that the hero industry isn’t perfect, nothing is. But i do stand that no matter what, there is still Heroes out there, RISKING THEIR LIVES, to make sure innocent people dont get hurt. Villains are villains for a reason. I guess many people dont realize that if Hawks does make it out of this mission alive, this isn’t some regular mission any hero goes on. Every single hero that is fighting right now is going to be affected. He even said himself that he is willing to become corrupt if everyone else gets to be safe. DONT HATE A CHARACTER BECAUSE HE’S CHOOSING THE “GOOD SIDE”. No matter how cool the personalities of villains are, no matter what happened in the past, it doesn’t change their actions. It doesn’t change the fact they want to see the world burn. It doesn’t change the fact they hurt innocent people for their own benefit. It doesn’t change the fact that their actions are wrong. Dabi has no right calling heroes “bad” or “shitty” with his standing. I guess if you wanna argue send an ask in but my opinion stands. Hawks is a hero and has always wanted to be one. Dont bash him for doing whats going to help the greater good.

Also another thing I want to mention, I also see a lot of people being like “aww Dabi cares about Twice so much” and Im sure he does. But i want to talk about the last panel. What Dabi looks like isnt a face of anger or anything along those lines. Its a face of bloodlust. Im hoping his intent is more innocent than what im thinking. What im thinking is that he isnt there for Twice. Far from it. I think hes there to finally finish Hawks off (debatable). I think what he’s excited for is to kill Hawks, not to save his friend.
