I hear people are rustling about again saying that if Katsuki called Izuku "Deku," it would be a regression of character development.

Other people have talked about it before, but I'm here to remind you that 1. Katsuki has already called him "Deku" again, and 2. it is actually further proof of his development.

This isn't an "old habits die hard" situation -- we already got that in chapter 327 with "De-Izuku!" No, this is something else.

Why?

Because "Deku" is Izuku's hero name.

Chapter 345

Katsuki is communicating combat information here, so he addresses Izuku as a hero, as opposed to how he would address him in a personal context, and he still uses it when talking to Best Jeanist.

If anybody cares about being addressed properly by their hero name, it's Katsuki!

Chapter 319

He bristles at Yaoyorozu for calling him Bakugou-san during their mission to rescue Izuku.

Chapter 346

The first time Mirko calls him the wrong name, it's during the heat of battle, so he actually ignores it and answers her with the pertinent information.

Chapter 347

He only argues with her the second time she calls him by the wrong name when they are regrouping.

And, wait, okay, look, I actually want to point out something hilarious here--in the English release, they had Mirko calling him "Dynamight," dropping the Great Explosion Murder God part, but in Japanese she actually says Dainama (ダイナマ), not Dainamaito (ダイナマイト), both times.

Which means she shortens his hero name not just by ditching the grandiose title, but also by removing the All Might reference.

I like to think that is what he is most pissed off about LOL.

(Bonus: I highlighted in blue where he calls her ウサギやろー, usagi yarou, meaning "bunny bastard." The word "yarou" is typically an insult directed at men; the etymology itself is masculine. The official English release made this "bunny gal," I'm guessing to avoid readers walking away with the notion that Katsuki is confused about Mirko's gender or that he was insulting her gender. In reality, Katsuki is simply a progressively-minded foul-mouthed youth who does not discriminate between bastards!)

Anyway, see, we have already been shown how Katsuki refers to Izuku when he isn't communicating battle information.

Chapter 362

He uses Izuku's name out loud to himself as a personal aside right before his moment of heroism.

I think everybody is missing out on a much more delightful question. Katsuki has used Izuku's hero name, so are we ever going to get to see Izuku use Katsuki's?

And if he doesn't, if he just blurts out "Kacchan!" on the battlefield like the damn nerd he is, will Katsuki correct him?

I mean, we've never once seen him demand Izuku stop calling him by his childhood nickname, so is he just gonna let that one slide?

What a funny fucking exception that would be, huh?

The way Hawks looks at Tokoyami reminds me of just how fond he is of the 1-A student. To me it shows that he didn't expect help from anyone, and that when Tokoyami comes in with Jirou to save him, again, Hawks realizes just how much Tokoyami cares for him, and is willing to risk is own life for his mentor'a life. He admits to not having the raw power Endeavor has, but he knows that Hawks knows that he has the ability to keep up and have better coordinated attacks. Why? Because Hawks doesn't have to worry about getting burned by Endeavor if they were to mess up, and because Hawks knows what Tokoyami is capable of. Hawks never wanted to become a teacher or train the heros of the future, but he was willing to show Tokoyami how versatile his quirk really is. Thus another reason he was willing to continue his studies and work with Hawks even after his first interactions with Hawks was nothing more than giving him intel.

Hawks admits to hardening his heart and the will of forgetting any relations he has had in the past, to continue moving forward and creating a better future. Though I don't think he could ever shove Tokoyami away, after everything they have been through, Tokoyami never gave up on Hawks. Even when he admitted to killing Twice, Tokoyami is still willing to fight along side Hawks and defeat the evil that corrupts the world.

I have a feeling mha's not ending this year as planned 👀👀

Maybe or it will be close.

We are on Issue 30 of WSJ - there are 20 issues left in 2022 (2 double issues), and then 3 issues in December (which for WSJ is already 2023).

So if there are no scheduled breaks or anything else this year (hard to imagine), we can get maximum 23 chapters.

Right now, we are 14 chapters into the endgame battle and we had:

343-345 - trap + separating villains (3 chapters)

346-347 - Team vs Shigaraki (1.5 chapters)

347-349 - Team vs Toga (2 chapters)

349 - 352 - Dabi vs Shouto (3.5 chapters)

353 - Everyone's positions

354-357 - AFO vs Team (4 chapters)

And none of these battles have been fully finalized. Actually, it feels like this is where the balance will start to tip towards the villains.

For comparison, in the PLF War arc, the balance tipped to the villains right around this point in 273, with Shigaraki awake, Machia on his way, Toga on a rampage.

It was wrapped up afterwards in 22 chapters, though there were only 2 battle locations and only a few characters got specific highlights / fight scenes.

Now, looking at Jirou's moment, I'd expect a bit more than just a hype panel for the students who will get highlights (I'd expect highlights for: Aoyama, Shoji, Sero, Mina, Kirishima, Iida, Momo, Kaminari, Tsuyu at least from Class A) and then multi-chapters for Uraraka, Bakugou and Deku, as well as I expect at least 1-2 more chapters focusing on Shouto), along with their villains.

Other than class A, I think there will be content also with Shinsou/Aizawa/Shirakumo storyline.

So yeah, that's going to be a bit tight to fit into 20 chapters (though not undoable - Hori doesn't really do long fights).

And I expect about 2-3 chapters worth of epilogue.

So my best guess right now is having around 26-28 chapters left which would go into the beginning of 2023. But this estimate can go off the rails completely, if HK for example gets into drawing Mirko during 3 chapters again, just because he wants to.

#SaveTF2 - Getting Valve to Acknowledge this, Once and for All

Alright. I'm a day late, but what does that matter? I'd rather do this a day late than never do it at all.

Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is a game that I'm still very early in the learning process of. I've only been playing for a few months, and don't have even 100 hours in the game yet. And if things go the way they are, I don't think I will. Official servers are, truthfully, in an awful state. Bots are crawling in every one, and the only way to avoid them is to requeue like there's no tomorrow. There are new players every day, and I don't want to think that their first thought about this incredible game is "Wow, I can't do literally anything." It, to be honest, is heartbreaking to see this incredible game that has lived so long to be done in by this.

TF2 means so much to so many- and I so badly want to see why. I want to be in the era where it was consistently getting more content added to it, when cheaters were kicked instantly after someone caught on.

The bots are far, far worse than a cheater could ever be. They spam things in the voice chat, they can hit through walls, they have perfect aim. And even worse, most of them are snipers, meaning that then can kill you from across the entire map if you aren't careful.

I want to love this game. I want to see what makes it so fun, why people play it even over a decade later. I want to join the incredible people that make the game look so appealing, and I want to see the appeal behind it. But, with all the current flaws... I can't.

Valve has, to their credit, tried to do something. However, none of it worked. In fact, the things they did have only made the problem worse. Things like making Free-to-plays (like myself) unable to use VC/text chat. I can't even call for medic in an official server.

And Uncle Dane shouldn't be shouldering all of the TF2 community on Uncletopia. Uncletopia is where I spend most of my time when I play TF2, which hasn't been for a while. However, I can barely even do anything there because everyone else is just too good for me to get better at movement and tracking.

I can't get better because I'm fighting against people that kill me too fast for me to learn anything. I can't say that I love TF2 yet. But I want to. I want to love TF2 so badly. I want to enjoy what other people enjoy about the game.

I want to frag as Scout. I want to use incredible power as Soldier. I want to reflect as Pyro. I want to mow down the enemy as Heavy. I want to get a nasty sticky trap as Demo. I want to single-handedly defend the final point as an Engineer. I want to make a game-changing Uber push as Medic. I want to get an incredible chainstab as Spy.

I want to see this game restored to when it was at its peak. I want to build gamesense. I want to learn how to count damage numbers. I want to learn the flank routes. I want to learn how to trimp as Demoknight. I want to experience this game's full quality.

And I really, really hope that I can.

This is my #SaveTF2 post. I hope Valve gets enough to finally do something.

has any of your theories or predictions become canon?

Well, anon, I think you probably have realized that a lot of what I do on this blog IS just make theories for funsies, and obviously I cannot hold to each theory 100% because many of them contradict each other. Whenever I gloat about "calling it" in MHA, I usually am doing so half-sarcastically, because some of the things I've "predicted" have been hedged or were too vague to count as true predictions. Sometimes I also just like to take a theory as far as I can stretch it by jumping to wild conclusions when the answer turns out to be simpler.

HOWEVER, IF YOU MUST KNOW...

The predictions that became canon I currently can recall:

Katsuki's hero name will be Dynamight

Izuku in his vigilante phase would be saved by all of Class 1-A together

Izuku's vigilante arc would showcase how he hasn't learned to value teamwork yet

The utility of two OFA quirks, Danger Sense and Smokescreen, did turn out to be for stealth/reconnaissance

Katsuki would apologize to Izuku

The answer to Ochako's question of "who saves the heroes?" would be the civilians

Considering the ambiguity of singular/plural words in Japanese, the final word in "This is the story of how I became the greatest hero" would actually turn out to be "heroes"

Yuuga Aoyama is the UA traitor

The general progression of Star & Stripe's arc

Shouto would not use Flashfire Fist against Dabi

Shouto vs Dabi ain't done yet

Katsuki will be exploited as Izuku's weakness

That one panel in chapter 345 was heavily foreshadowing something very bad was about to happen to Katsuki featuring the possibility Katsuki will try to self-destruct to take TomurAFO down

The Second's quirk is a variation of super speed

These predictions I never wrote about so you will just have to take my word that I had them in like 2018:

Katsuki would have to save Izuku and potentially fail (fulfilled by "Katsuki Bakugou Rising")

Izuku would give OFA to Katsuki (fulfilled by the ending of Heroes Rising)

Both Katsuki's and Izuku's teams would win their matches in the JTA

On Toga, and stopping the violence

Toga's arc has been one where the predictions have been all over the place, aside from the obvious ending where her and Ochacko come to an understanding.

Chapter 341 introduced the potential for a revenge plot, but I'll be honest and say that never sat right with me. I was ready to accept it if it came, but I didn't like it. I think the reason I didn't like it is because it doesn't really align with Touya's character (since he literally can only focus on revenge against his dad), but it also didn't really align with Toga's character either? I'll explain. But anyway, after chapter 345, I am starting to think things won't go down the Toga/Dabi/Hawks route (at least I really hope not).

These are just predictions, and me going off of what we know about Toga as a character, and I'm obviously open to being wrong. It could still go down that way. But I'd like to explain why I don't like the revenge route, and why I prefer what I think is about to happen now.

If you look back at Toga's character throughout the story, she isn't violent-natured at heart. Of course her actions are violent, there is no denying that she does violent things, but there are several instances where her personal interests and emotions were more important to her than just, being violent.

In fact, violence only happened after so long of feeling suffocated and, as we know, being emotionally abused by her family:

But going back to her combat intro in the training camp arc, we learn immediately that Toga is drawn to people her age, and has a soft spot for them:

Beyond the obvious "she's a villain" issue, Toga's other issue in this scene is....boundaries. She has none. When you aren't given the chance to have healthy friendships and relationships, any indication that you could have a connection with someone is exciting and, well, boundaries don't exist.

But this comes from a place of her wanting to have something that she saw: a friendship. Ocha and Tsu immediately caught her attention, from the get go. And she immediately latched onto this idea she had of Ochacko (which was technically the correct idea, because Toga can read people). And then she sees Deku and, again, boundaries lol:

In order to get to my point, I have to fast forward to the remedial license arc, where Toga is once again face to face with these UA kids:

She's undercover, but she's being honest here. Why wouldn't you be honest when you're undercover? Nobody knows who you are. But anyway, Toga asks a serious question here:

That makes a reappearance in the war arc:

So what does all of this say about Toga?

Toga is not afraid to just, ask the hard questions. She asks the questions that Shigaraki and Touya both want answers to, but they won't ask. She faces people head on with words. And above all else, she's a reliable narrator, unlike the other two in the LOV trio.

Toga gets in scuffles here and there, yeah. But when she comes face to face with Ochacko and Deku in particular, she's more about the words, the conversation. And she even expressed wanting to talk to Tsu during the war too.

So I pointed all of this out to explain that, Toga is not an inherently violent person. When she used Camie as a blood bank, she could have easily killed her in the process when she was done with her. But at her mercy, she just didn't. At the training camp arc, she honestly could have sliced Ocha and Tsu by surprise and killed them too, because we know Toga is a kickass fighter. In the Overhaul arc, Toga could have killed Rock Lock (one less hero to worry about right?), but again, she didn't. Yes, she is a member of the LOV and she has killed, but she is not on the same level as Shigaraki or Touya.

So in chapter 341, we found out that Touya gave Toga Twice's blood. There wasn't a plan that was discussed, but I think (key word: think) that Touya gave that to Toga out of kindness, and assumed she would use it for revenge. Or maybe just assumed she would use it to somehow further the villains' progress and honor Twice's memory. Chapter 341 was extremely melancholy in tone. Toga saw the way society viewed her, and her family. She saw that her family just trashed her stuff when she ran away. Touya burned the home that hurt her out of kindness, but tied it to Endeavor, further showing that he can't get out of his tunnel vision. And then we have Twice, who at this point I am hoping will be used in this way in the story.

In chapter 341 as well, Toga expresses some form of doubt for what's to come:

This phrasing indicates that she isn't entirely sure that what she's choosing to do is going to bring anything good to her life (we know it's not). Her conversation with Ocha hurt her deeply, and only cemented her surface level desire to keep on the path to destroying everything with the League. But deep down in there, she wants something more. She always has. And destroying everything will take away that chance for her to get that.

So....about this revenge. Toga? I don't know.

Because when Twice died, Toga did go on a killing spree and said it was "heroes who ruin everything" (understandably), but once she cooled down and regrouped with the LOV on Machia, she went back to her normal self, where she once again, asks the hard questions, and seeks out answers from the same specific kids:

Toga didn't talk about Hawks, she didn't mention Hawks, or even think about him specifically. So at this point, in my opinion it wouldn't feel like a Toga thing to do for her to make some complicated revenge plot, and seek out a hero she's had zero interaction or context with in the entire story.

Toga has wanted nothing more than answers to her questions. She wanted acceptance, but she didn't get that. So the next thing she wants is answers, and she has given the kids multiple chances to give them to her. Fighting has occurred along the way, but Toga has shown more willingness and desire to TALK than any other villain.

So now again in chapter 345: Toga, who has done more than honestly any of the other LOV members to show that she wants a conversation more than a fight, sets off to get her answers from those same three kids she latched onto the day she met them:

I think what Toga is about to do is make a last ditch effort at having that conversation. Because she went out of her way to make sure she was face to face with not only Ocha and Tsu, but also Deku. Those same three kids she's been seeking answers from since the day she met them.

Toga is in mourning, and I think Toga has reached a point where she is tired of the death, the violence, and the hurt. And obviously the LOV are not in a good spot right now, and she knows. She knows that outside help is needed, and I think this is her making that last attempt at reaching out.

And I think that this time, things will go down differently, because chapter 342 showed us that both Deku AND Ochacko share feelings about the villains that others don't, and they both know that they are maybe the only chance at changing the relationship between the heroes and the LOV.
