1) Shouto is the only being in the entire planet that can't be hurt by Touya, thanks to his new powers.

2) Not only that, but he's the only one capable of enduring his flames AND applying his quirk as a countermeasure to make sure Touya won't hurt himself too.

That means Dabi will never be too much for his little brother. There's nothing Dabi could throw at Shouto that Shouto couldn't stand. It is, Dabi found someone able to support him through the good and the bad without hurting himself or the other.

Think about that for a minute.

Touya didn't fully anticipate his little brother's capabilities and that benefited Shouto and allowed him to freeze him—but Touya also discounted his own abilities and half of his quirk. Let me explain…

Touya knew Shouto had ice and flames, he's watched what he's done at UA and in these recent fights, but at this stage in the fight, he's surprised that Shouto's been able to physically handle the heat and that his ice is as powerful as it is. I don't think Touya expected this fight to go this way and also I don't think he expected it to last this long.

Now he's faced with Shouto not only surviving his flames but countering them with ice that cancels him out—and it's thrown him off as much as it pisses him off. He's so annoyed at the prospect of Shouto once again being perfect (because of course Shouto has these abilities) that he's discounting himself. Like yes, Touya, he can handle your heat, but you can take his chill!

He's so used to being perceived as weaker in the context of the family that he's not seeing his own capabilities in this stage of the fight. I started discussing this here, but Touya's body can handle the chill and he's been carrying so much resentment toward Shouto, that he’s discounted himself. It’s that resentment that's led him to think he and Shouto are these parallel lines. They may have similarities but he insists that they’re so different. He can’t see the ways that they do intersect—until now.

Shouto sees this and he says that they’re going to mingle and it’s here that Touya’s surprised (and if not fully surprised, then at least taken off guard as Shouto freezes him). Touya’s seen his own inability to handle his own heat as a failure. He was trained to believe that his flames were all that mattered, it makes sense that he’s ignored half of himself.

Shouto and Touya both have half cold and half hot. Shouto’s is in a way that’s more pronounced and both his ice and flames are highly visible because of how his quirk manifested. Touya is half cold and half hot but in a way that only the heat is visible. His quirk manifested with his the heat so pronounced that the cold half of his quirk is only apparent in his body and his physical ability to withstand freezing temperatures, and that ability is actually part of his quirk.

The problem is that their father was so hellbent on flames and Touya was so insistent on being a hero with his flames that the other half of his quirk was suppressed and considered a weakness and never had the chance to fully flourish.

Idk I’m rambling but this fight is going to allow Shouto and Touya to talk, but could also allow Touya to recognize that he and his little brother have quite a lot in common, and that what he previously thought was a weakness is actually a major strength.

Ok, so. Dabi was born when Touya saw that his death changed nothing. During the war arc, Dabi did technically reach his goal. His father saw what he has done, saw what he created, and was horrified. The war changed Japan. And after that we see Dabi in a white outfit as he keeps his white hair.

This fight isn't about making his death mean something- this fight is about proving himself. Proving that Touya was worth his father's attention. That Touya can beat the masterpiece that replaced him. And when he loses the fight, we see a flashback of young Touya screaming and crying. But was it really a flashback? Or is that Touya's reaction to what's happening right now. Horikoshi showing us that the kid was put aside for Dabi is back now, and he can't understand why he's still losing after everything.

Bnha 352; Ultimate Move

I love how Shouto decide to use his fire side to support his ice side so that he wont freeze, opposite of what his father wanted him to do, just to save his brother from burn to death. And this is how Shouto vs Touya happens.

Unlike Dabi, Shouto had a chance to move on and heal in UA. This is why he could find a way. Instead of focusing hatred and past, he could focus on future and what he actually need, what he can.

Meanwhile, Dabi who was too damaged and never got a chance to move on, only focus able to his past. His thoughts were limited by his abuser's desires. This is why he end up imitating him even though he doesnt want to. He is unable to see his brother and himself as invidual, thats why he cant see the similarities. Thats why he uses ‘flashfire’.

Shouto knows how to be blinded and stuck in past, this is why he could empathize with his brother.

 Honestly, i wish he had more conversation with Deku, Uraraka and others about this "saving villains" thing, like i mentioned in this post but anyway, i am glad for TodoDeku conversation in this chapter. Deku is worried about Shouto's having to fight against his brother but Shouto explains his plan to him and talk about his power, thanking him again cause that day Midoriya reach out to him was the reason he could be able to open his eyes.

I wonder, this fight will end here or not cause Shouto mentioned class A became a safe place where he could be himself and supported by them but actually, Dabi also had/has league for this so even if Shouto opens Dabi's eyes, i wonder how it will continue cause i think there are still things that needs to be adressed. Well, hopefully, we will see.
