Fen Quirk Analysis: Brought to you by Izuku Midoriya 🧊
Most of this info is already documented in her ref sheets, and she has a pretty general run-of-the-mill “ice” quirk, but thought it’d be fun to illustrate and get into the science of it all
More elaboration (& rambling) under the cut:
——————
Fen’s quirk works by allowing her to extract the heat of whatever it is she’s touching, which often produces frost as a byproduct of the rapidly cooling surface temperature in relation to the air. Her fingers/hands act as conduits, allowing for the heat energy to transfer through her. As a side effect, while actively using her quirk those points of contact heat up/become hot to the touch, but only for however long she’s using her quirk for.
The heat she extracts travels through her body and gradually loses energy (due to her own internal temperature running fairly low) then gets released back into the air. However some of her own body heat also gets lost in the process, virtually making her into something like a heat vacuum.
The rate at which she cools also affects the effects of her quirk, in that the more rapidly she cools something, the hotter her contact points become and the more body heat she loses, putting her at high risk for frostbite and hypothermia. The temperature discrepancy also just causes general (to severe) discomfort.
Her quirk isn’t as effective in drier environments, as lower moisture content means less frost generation.
So ironically her quirk isn’t so much “frost” as it is heat transfer 🤔 and really frost is just a (very common) byproduct of her quirk lol

Why are "Suspected Traitor Midoriya Izuku" fanfics so painfully cliché and nonsensical?
The ONLY villain Izuku could be implicated in working with is Stain.
I thought this little subgenre of the fandom would produce a FEW interesting deviating AUs about Midoriya starring in The Fugitive. Instead, what I found was a poorly-written story template that erases 40% of Seasons 1 and 2’s plot points to make Hurt, No Comfort fanfiction about whumpee Izuku Midoriya having panic attacks from police brutality, and then attempting suicide.
The trend popped up in 2020, during the Overhaul Arc, but the fanfics feature so little in-story information and focus mostly on information from the first 5 episodes, with a hard emphasis on middle school. It feels like a MHA whump enthusiast started telling their community about an anime featuring a bullied crybaby and they flocked over. These stories have so little understanding of the actual anime, they read more like the writers only understand the story by other people’s fanfiction. Clips of the show, at best.
So, below are common flaws in these whump stories, how they could be improved, but ultimately how dropping the "He's working with the League" plot point and having them suspect him of working with Stain is far more plausible in-story.
This is all with the FULL UNDERSTANDING that these stories are supposed to be about an innocent Izuku being persecuted, betrayed, and heartbroken so that he can fall into despair, be abused, cry crystal tears of suffering… I’m into that shit. I had already leafed through a hundred or so stories of Bakugou and Shigaraki abusing him. And I wouldn't have read SO many of THESE stories if I wasn't looking for good content... It's just that even the most popular stories on AO3 are SO weaksauce.
Elevate yourself. Do better.
Ignoring Police Procedure because the Authors Prefer Nonsensical Accusations
The authors want to get to police/UA staff beating Izuku in an undisclosed basement as soon as possible… Which I wholeheartedly appreciate, but I suppose its a matter of taste that I don't share their opinion that Izuku's heartbreak is sweeter if the accusations make no sense.
I’d prefer either changing key details in the story so that the investigation has a plausible accusation (actually write the League framing Izuku) OR using the literal plot of the anime and being clever about what accusation could be made and by whom.
I read a story where Izuku was framed with a video of him setting fire to the school and because Aizawa and All Might were so mad, they skipped investigation and a TRIAL and just held Izuku in a sensory deprivation prison for five years. The League has a shapeshifter AND a clone-maker, y'all. I did a find search of the entire story. No one mentions Toga or Twice, not even once.
Story Ideas:
At summer camp, the League could implicate Izuku as their mole and reveal that kidnapping Bakugou was part of Izuku's payment. Hell, let Izuku run into the portal, restrain him, kill Bakugou, throw Izuku to All for One so that he can be miraculously healed of ALL of his injuries and tell him, "Good luck getting All Might to believe you weren't working with us." Because if the story is ALWAYS going to be "no one bothers to call Tsukauchi The Human Lie Detector until after they've mentally and physically scarred Izuku for life" ... could the prompt for the betrayal be a bit more interesting?
Or after USJ, Bakugou tells Aizawa Izuku’s “I was given a quirk” confession that, when paired with All Might telling him about All for One, leads Aizawa to quickly and quietly detain Izuku. (Which is also a good cautionary tale about why the hell Kacchan gets to be in the loop but Aizawa has no idea what's going on.) I mean, c'mon, the plot of MHA is basically begging for Izuku to confess that he was given All Might's power and Aizawa not believe him because, hello, All Might clearly still has his quirk.
Erasing 40% of the story to make a plot-holes doesn’t make Izuku’s heartbreak any sweeter. Making characters OOC requires massaging the plot, anyway. If you’re going to change Aizawa to foaming-at-the-mouth irrational or change Class A to being “so scared” no one assumes Izuku must have been coerced into working with Shigaraki information… the LEAST you could do is come up with an interesting red herring to explain why an underground hero lost the ability to do a proper investigation?
Izuku Writes Creepy Notebooks
For most of these stories, this is the only evidence that Izuku was working with the League, in some stories, Aizawa beats Izuku for simply having the notebooks; thinking he’s League traitor isn’t even mentioned! I can see why the bloodthirsty whump writers like this: the notebooks are connected to middle school bullying, so Class A resenting them can quickly segue into Izuku having PTSD panic attacks and running to make his first suicide attempt.
These stories also completely ignore that Izuku asks people questions. Authors will write that Izuku wrote several pages about Uraraka but never, ever actually talked to her to answer his questions: Would she lose her quirk if she loses even one finger (like Shigaraki)? Should Hatsume make protection gloves? How about Ashido, Bakugou and Todoroki? Would Todoroki's powers still work with protective gloves like Bakugou?
But, am I a bad person for wanting a bit more meat on this bone? Instead of Aizawa/Nezu expelling/arresting Izuku simply because they fear the notebooks could be used for evil in the future, doesn’t it sound plausible to believe and heartbreaking for Izuku to have to prove that "most of Stain's victims are profiled in the last few of Izuku's notebooks." (It would still be circumstantial evidence since, if Izuku writes profiles on hundreds of heroes across 15 notebooks, some of them being Stain’s victims is just par for the course. But I prefer this idea over “Izuku OPENLY writes in his notebooks every day, but doesn’t that just prove he’s the traitor even more because we’d assume no traitor would be stupid enough to spy on us in our faces? Gyah! His evil genius is staggering.")
PS: If Bakugou points out that shitty Deku has been making these notebooks for so long, #1 is more of a coloring book of his favorite heroes... he either gets called a traitor too and thrown into prison to be beaten or everyone's response is simply "But they exist! They EXIST! They are creepy!"
Let’s Ignore the USJ/Internship Plot, Even Thought the Fanfic is about the USJ/Internship
Izuku passed on information about Class A to Shigaraki... even though a major plot point of USJ was that Shigaraki didn't know anything about Class A's abilities.
Insist that Izuku’s multiple, painful self-sacrificing moments were all just covers for his evil plans. Either that, or don’t mention them at all, because pointing out that he broke his legs to help All Might sounds like too good of a reason to trust him.
Let’s erase All for One, Gran Torino, and the Nomus from the story because we either need All Might to assume Izuku told Shigaraki about his injury or the story features a quirkless Izuku and the accusation that All for One was rewarding him with a secret quirk is too logical to be allowed. All Might/Nezu/Aizawa cannot be allowed a plausible reason to assume Shigaraki seduced Izuku to the dark side.
Completely ignore that Tsukauchi The Human Lie Detector wrote Izuku’s statement.
Izuku did Summer Camp… Because
Since this is the arc that introduces the concept of “a traitor in their midst,” this trend just crammed Izuku into it without making it fit. So now most of the 400 fanfics are stuck rewriting a few templates of Class A and the teachers accusing him for no reason and ignoring what actually HAPPENED at the summer camp to do so. Because… he has notebooks…
Again, insist that Izuku’s multiple, painful self-sacrificing moments were all just covers for his evil plans. Either that, or don’t mention them at all. Because two broken arms, going out of his way to save a little boy, coming up with plans to save several classmates, and contributing to the arrests of two villains sound like too good of reasons to trust him.
Izuku TOLD the Pussycats who the target and was part of the vanguard protecting him. Without that message, Mr. Compass would have still captured Bakugou with NO ONE being the wiser. No, let’s go one step deeper. Izuku could have left Bakugou behind during the final exam so that he would be forced to take remedial lessons. If the kids who failed really were staying behind, Izuku would give that address. If it was just a logical deception, Izuku would give that address.
Honestly, I've never seen a "he told the League where the summer camp was" story that actually talked about what happened at the summer camp. These fanfictions will have CHAPTERS of Izuku having panic attacks from middle school days and never mention Bakugou... the reason for Izuku's lack of self-worth. Authors will give Izuku trust issues with teachers to make his panic attacks because of Aizawa more heartbreaking... and never, ever mention that Bakugou is the reason teachers didn't help him.
Completely ignore that Tsukauchi The Human Lie Detector wrote Izuku’s statement.
Overhaul is Such a Touching and Courageous Arc that it is Never Mentioned
Sometimes, sometimes... the whole "Gyah, Izuku makes creepy notebooks so lets turn on him!" plot happens after the Overhaul Arc... But his actions during the Arc are NEVER mentioned.
I do recall two stories: One where Aizawa accused him of working for Stain, the League and Overhaul at the same time and when Izuku points out that makes no sense, he gets punched and told not to talk back... And in another, they just accuse Izuku being the mole who informed the yakuza of the sting operations... and no one, not even the Big Three mention how little sense that makes.
Everyone shut up. Beating the every-loving shit out of Kaiju Overhaul and single-handedly saving the tortured girl are nothing compared to creepy notebooks.
Assuming Stain and Izuku are mentor and pupil
By using the plot of the anime...
Nezu/Aizawa/All Might assuming middle school Deku imprinted on Stain the moment he heard a “All Might alone is worthy” speech is a much better assumption than … oh, right, without All for One in the story, there is no logical explanation how NEET Shigaraki recruited Izuku, when he couldn’t even recruit decent henchmen for USJ.
I like the idea of Stain disabling the two heroes who didn’t save Kacchan. Two cowards scolding a child for being braver than them? Since Stain’s arc is a year and some change from Ep. 1, if those two heroes were among the first he ever attacked, it could cause someone to double-take that their last patrol before being forced into retirement was featured on the news with two future UA students.
Stain SAVED Deku from Shigaraki. For any Pro Hero to assume that means Izuku was working with Shigaraki instead of Stain is like watching a girl stick her tongue down a guy's throat and doubting they are a couple because you saw that girl snatch a weave off someone she hates in the school parking lot.
Stain followers, in plain view of Pro Heroes, have declared Izuku as equally a true hero as All Might, saved him, or helped him save the day. Not only was Toga instrumental in Izuku's success in the Overhaul Arc (and Uraraka and Aizawa were aware of that) but the only reason she HAD Izuku's blood was because of a discreet little meet-up during the PLE that could have gone completely unnoticed, except Sero, Mineta, and Kaminari loudly said they saw Izuku interact with a naked girl. Shit! Well, now Izuku has to mention Camie to Beast, it would be out of character to NOT ask.
The Mall Encounter implicates Izuku so much, I'm actually getting scared. IS Izuku Midoriya a Stain follower?! Here is the monologue straight from the DUB: "What's the difference? Your goals, your villains... I don't understand you. I don't agree with the Hero Killer either, but I can understand him. Because the Hero Killer and I have something in common. We're inspired by All Might. That night, he even saved me from the flying nomu. He's a maniac, but he doesn't destroy things because it sounds fun. And when things were looking bad for him, he didn't abandon his mission... Like YOU did. Even if what he did was wrong, he held true to his beliefs. That's the difference."
Now, when Tsukauchi The Human Lie Detector took Izuku's statement after the Mall Encounter… because yes, he takes Izuku’s statement after every fucking crisis, people… even if Izuku repeated that monologue word for word, all Tsukauchi would hear was the confused a innocent hero-in-training.
If Nezu/Aizawa/All Might read back that statement, they could EASILY reinterpret it as an idealistic young pupil disappointed that he couldn't convince his master to spare the lives of all of the fake, unworthy heroes he'd profiled for him. (This serial killer killed 17 and injured 24, now. That's a whole lotta people not killed for a serial killer.) How EASY would it be to suspect that Ingenium was only alive because Izuku pleaded his case? How EASY would it be to think Izuku only sent the signal to Class A to get Iida away from his master ASAP before he had to choose between his mission and his new friends?
And just to wrap up in a nice, neat bow how much the Mall Encounter makes Izuku look like a Stain pupil, the fact that it happened at all looks like Shigaraki flaunting how vulnerable Izuku is with his master in jail. A rogue looking to recruit the quirk analyst prodigy he suspects was that asshole's Player 2. "I hate everyone. But the Hero Killer pisses me off the most.” Izuku tried to act as ignorant as possible. “Wasn’t he one of your guys?” But then he dropped character when Shigaraki dared to compare himself to his master. Shigaraki asked why Stain had more YouTube views and Izuku responded with a shockingly personal declaration on his respect for Stain and All Might.
… Seriously, I’ve gaslit myself into thinking Izuku really is Stain’s pupil...
At this point, I’m just working out the kinks on either an actual traitor AU or a reasonable doubt fugitive AU.
Conclusion
I love making characters suffer. I genuinely do. I can tolerate melodrama for the sake of characters suffering. I love OOC because I equally love Aizawa beating Izuku and Aizawa dating Izuku... If someone has a recommendation on both happening at the same time, I'd appreciate it.
But I just don’t understand the appeal of lazy writing or nonsensical characters WITHIN the context of the story being written. Every time someone says "Izuku sold information about us" all I can think about is that Shigaraki has never understood any of Class A's powers. Just write that Izuku wanted the League to kidnap Bakugou. Use the fucking anime.

TheLreads, Vigilantes ch 90, Replies Part 2
1) “HEEEEEY- LONG TIME NO SEE CLOUDY, I WAS WONDERING FOR HOW MUCH LONGER THEY WOULD GO WITHOUT SHOWING YOU”- So, rough timescale for this places it about 15 years or more after Shirakumo’s ‘passing’, and I find it interesting how this reveal is interplayed between both series, because again, there’s nothing here that tells you Shirakumo and Kurogiri are the same being, despite them both showing up in this manga, you’d have to have read to the reveal in MHA to get the double-context of his appearance here, and otherwise, you’d have played it off as just a loyal servant always being by his master’s side. 2) “AND HERE COMES NUMBER FIVE! EVERYBODY GET READY FOR SOME FUN TIMES I HOPE”- Number Hood is in the room, ready to party. To count, we now have four of the series’ foremost fighting maniacs all locked in the same room together.
(Vigilantes ch 44)
3) “No, hoodie over here is on a quest, given to them by the wise hobo of scarfs, this is the place, this is where the questmark lead to.
Hood… I don’t know why the first thought that crossed my mind was that this person eventually became the High-end Nomu, solely because of the hood.”- No, but it turns out he fought him at some point. Funny how life works out, huh?
(Vigilantes ch 88) 4) “IT WAS
OH MY GOD NOW SHIT’S ABOUT TO TURN SERIOUS
KNUCKLES, WHATEVER HAPPENS, DON’T LET HER AND RAPPA MEET, ONE OF THEM WOULD DEFINITELY END UP DEAD AND THE TIMELINE WOULD COLLAPSE”- Well, luckily, the only thing that can distract these fighting maniacs from each other is the prospect of a bigger opponent more powerful than either of them, and Hood is more than happy to oblige. (Vigilantes ch 89) 5) “OH DEAR GOD NOW WHO IS THAT ONE
IT CAN’T BE McBEE, BUT IT CAN BE A PREVIOUS PROTO-NOMU, OH GOD WHICH ONE IS IT, IS IT NUMBER FIVE?”- It’s Number Hood! 6) “YEAH RAPPA, THAT ONE YOU GUYS CAN KILL, ALRIGHT?”- Well, Rappa can certainly try, but by the same rules that guarantee his own survival, Hood is likewise protected as well. Still, this fight gonna get bloody. “Oh I think somebody is about to get an ass-kicking… but it definitely can’t be Rappa since he was never defeated before.”- Never defeated in an official cage match. This is now a free-style brawl. Side-note, I’m pleasantly surprised to recognise the flicker-jab style Hood’s using from my time reading Hajime no Ippo. That series really increased my knowledge of how technical punching can get. That said, Hood’s got the advantage of literally being able to turn his arms into a whip, rather than just mimicking the effects with a snap punch.
7) “You got over Knuckles turning you down pretty fucking quick, didn’t you Rappa? Well, I want to see what the previous generation of Proto-Nomu had to offer, I hope it’s something I can use to belittle McBee”- It seems like Hood had, at a baseline, the muscle-tearing/body morphing abilities he made extensive use of against Endeavour put into him at first, with the other stuff getting added on later. This contrasts with Nomura having an humanoid body shape, but sticking to that template in order to roleplay his idealised self as a hero to the public, whereas Hood is literally tearing himself apart and stitching himself back together in order to better hit to opponent. 8) “Okay he was fast, even without the need for a speed quirk That’s already a 1x0 over McBee, nice”- That’s all his old boxing training coming to the forefront. He’s not actually moving at super-speed, he’s just moving to where Rappa’s punches aren’t, making it look like he’s faster. After all, he doesn’t need to hit quicker when he can hit longer instead. 9) “I know I shouldn’t be surprised, this thing is a proto-nomu after all, it would definitely have some tricks up his sleeve but jesus fuck that is horrifying”- It seems Hood literally rips apart his arm’s internal structure to increase his flexibility, turning his fist into a moving flail, before rapidly reconfiguring the damage back into the semblance of a working arm once the blow connects. Since his internal body seems to be composed of stringy muscle fibres, it can be assumed that it’s a derivate Quirk along a similar line as Muscular, only instead of growing more muscles, he’s rapidly stretching and tearing the ones he already possesses. Probably why Hood was later give Muscular’s cloned Quirk, if the synergy between their abilities is that good. 10) “Now you better get up boy, remember what you told kirishima?”- Rappa said he never lost, not that he didn’t take a sucker-blow to the floor once or twice. It ain’t about how much you get hit, it’s about how many times you stand up, and after seeing that horrifying display, I don’t blame him for needing a second to re-evaluate what the hell’s up with his opponent. 11) “You know, the fact that his face is being kept hidden makes me think that once knuckles actually manage to land a hit, it will be revealed that he has the same face as McBee, and everyone reading this will go “GASP O:” “- Or we’ll all recognise the other noticeable Nomu that showcased independent though on the battlefield, besides Kurogiri, who’s already had his turn.
12) “DAMMIT MIRKO THAT’S NOW HOW YOU PROTECT THE UNDEFEATED RAPPA!”- And a hint towards Hood’s competitive nature, rappa attacks with punches, he counters with punching. Mirko attacks with a kick, he counters with a kick. Anything the strong can do, he can do better. 13) “I THOUGHT YOU GUYS HAD NOTICED THAT FIVE SECONDS BEFORE, WHEN HE STRETCHED IT TO BEAT YOU TWO ALSO, HIS LEG ALSO DOES THE SAME, NUMBER FIVE WAS THE PREVIOUS HOLDER OF THE GOMU GOMU NO MI, DON’T ASK WHAT ELSE HE CAN STRETCH”- Hood’s body is made out of muscly silly string, and every fibre is aiming for your life. 14) “I won’t be surprised if he has super regeneration, this is like, AfOs favorite quirk, he puts it in everything, even his TV remote has super regeneration.”- Since we noted that AFO can’t have Hyper regeneration yet, Ithink it’s not truly healing, but rather, Hood taking parts of his overall body mass that aren’t being used to fight with and using them to replace the damaged pieces of himself that Knuckles slices apart. It’s like taking some of the thread out of a patchwork Quilt to sew up a damaged area, you’ve still got some missing threads, but not in the same place, and I’m betting Hood’s body mass underneath that jacket will become more and more skeletal as he uses up parts of himself to keep his fighting limbs in order 15) “Now, do tell me Knuckles, what lead you to reach this conclusion? What, you please tell me, made you think that this guy had a healing quirk, considering you never had met a proto-nomu before? I’d love to hear the logical deduction that made you slice and dice his arm like that.”- He saw how he attacked Mirko and Rappa before- and specifically, how his body reconfigured itself back into a workable form after the attacks were made, with visible blood spray from the self-damage. Knuckles might be calling it ‘healing’, but it’s really just more like further damaging yourself after tearing yourself apart to force the damaged body part back into a usable form. 16) “Now, interesting of Mirko to have crossed paths with a nomu before, this would make her obliterating the high-ends later one all the more hilarious, she was paying back after their great-great-completely-unreleated-grandfather kicked her ass.”- Even more so, since she showed up on the scene shortly after Hood got carbonised by Endeavour, essentially just missing out on her rematch.

Your oc Sora Tsuneyoshi stood out the most to me because omg, I am SUCH a hypochondriac and it actually ruins my life. It's the worst thing in the world, but people don't take it seriously. So to see your oc have this problem just makes me so overjoyed!
With their quirk, can they actually cure a disease assuming they know everything about it? I know you said they can control them, but is it permanent? So let's say for example, someone has a chronic illness. Let's take Asthma maybe, or heart disease. Could Sora cure these things? Or just lessen their effects? I'm so genuinely curious on this oc haha.
Do you ship them with anyone? I have 3 ocs who I ship with different mha characters, I know shipping isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I was just interested in knowing! Honestly I'd wanna know any of your oc x canon or even oc x oc ships, you're very good at world building and character creation from what I can see.
I'm the one who sent the snowflake ask so I'll go ahead and give myself a little anon name bc I'm too shy to come off anon for now :,) I'll be 🧼 soap anon if that isn't already taken on your page !
Thank you for asking, I'm always happy to answer! A funny thing I might want to mention is Sora's name always stuck in my head, so even if I forget some other characters names, for some reason their name will stick. (ㅎ.ㅎ )
And you're the first anon to choose a theme on my blog! Thank you! I'm going to create a tag for any anons that choose a character or emoji, so you'll be the first ໒꒰ྀི∩˃ ᵕ ˂∩꒱ྀི১
And I'm glad you were able to relate to my character, I myself (while not a hypochondriac) am a sort of germphobe, but I do have my moments where I freak out and think I'm going to die over something small.
Also, I'm AceAro, so I never really thought about shipping before since romance isn't always my ideal situation, but I'm not against it at all! If anyone were to ship my characters with each other or with an MHA character, I'd totally allow it since they're most likely just having fun (minus the kids, that might get a little weird).
That being said, I haven't thought about how far their quirk can go into detail, as I've been focusing on the other characters backgrounds, so it was left as a sort of template. I actually came up with the drawbacks and limitations of their quirk very recently, so if you have an idea or just want to add something small then feel to to tell me!
Also, I'm going to get rather excited about their quirk, so I'm sorry if I ramble! I'm just a huge biology/biotech nerd \_(-ロдロ-)
- Quirk:
Disease manipulation: The ability to control disease inside or outside of a person/animal. Can control movement, spread, division, and others.
✧*̣̩⋆̩☽ Drawbacks / Limits ✧*̣̩⋆̩☽
Physical strain: The ability to control diseases takes a physical toll on their body, causing them to become exhausted or even collapse after using their power too much.
Limited control: Sora can only control diseases to a certain extent. They cannot create new diseases or completely eradicate existing ones.
Moral and ethical considerations: The ability to manipulate diseases can be seen as unethical or even evil, especially if used to harm others.
Unintended consequences: Sora's actions may have unintended consequences, such as accidentally creating a superbug or virus that is resistant to all known treatments.
Difficulty with non-living surfaces: Sora may have difficulty manipulating diseases on non-living surfaces, such as objects or clothing.
Inability to control all diseases: Some diseases may be resistant to Sora's quirk, making it difficult or impossible to control them.
Sora's quirk is highly dependent on their own immune system; if they get sick or injured, their quirk weakens or disappears altogether temporarily.
They experience intense pain and discomfort whenever they manipulate diseases past their limit, making it difficult to use their quirk for extended periods of time.
Sora can only control one disease at a time, and must fully focus their attention on it to maintain control. If their attention is split their quirk's effect can lose strength.
Sora's quirk can be disrupted or negated by various medical treatments or procedures, such as vaccines, antibiotics, or chemotherapy. It all depends on the context.
Their quirk is heavily influenced by their emotional state; if they become stressed or anxious, their ability may become erratic or uncontrollable. This is why they're working on controlling their hypochondriac tendencies, because they can't use their quirk very much because of it.
Sora is unable to control certain types of diseases, such as those caused by genetic disorders or environmental factors.
Their quirk can be dangerous or even lethal if used improperly, and they must exercise extreme caution and restraint when manipulating disease
Sora's ability to control a disease is limited by the pathogen's replication rate. If the pathogen replicates too quickly, they may be unable to keep up with its spread and control it.
Sora's quirk can only manipulate diseases that are currently in their active phase; they cannot control latent or dormant infections.
Their quirk has a limited effect on diseases that have already caused irreversible damage to the body, such as chronic conditions or organ failure. They can only control the diseases, they can't reverse anything the diseases might've done.
Sora's quirk can only be effective against diseases that are currently recognized by modern medicine, and may not work against newly emerging pathogens or rare diseases. However, if they have a steady knowledge of any be disease, they can control it better. Then again, if there's an already established disease that they happen to know little too nothing about, they can't control it at all, or at least will struggle in an attempt.
Their quirk may have unintended consequences, such as creating drug-resistant strains of a disease or inadvertently spreading the disease to others.
。o♡o。Uses and Benefits 。o♡o。
Quick Explanation: Since Sora's quirk has so many limitations and risks, they normally only use it when absolutely needed, or if there's minimal risk involved. Since they're a well educated medic, they have other alternative methods of treatment.
In emergency situations where traditional medical treatment is unavailable, Sora could use their quirk to control the spread of infectious diseases within a patient's body, potentially preventing the disease from becoming fatal.
They could use their quirk to manipulate diseases in laboratory settings, allowing for more targeted research and development of vaccines and treatments for infectious diseases
In situations where quarantine is necessary, Sora could use their quirk to control the spread of a disease within a confined space, potentially limiting the number of people who become infected.
They could use their quirk to manipulate diseases as a form of biocontrol, targeting pests or invasive species that are causing harm to ecosystems or agricultural crops.
In situations where traditional treatments have failed, they could use their quirk to manipulate the disease within a patient's body as a last resort, potentially saving their life.
Sora could use their quirk to manipulate diseases as a means of tracking the spread and transmission of infectious diseases, potentially providing valuable data for epidemiological studies.
They could use their quirk to manipulate diseases to provide symptomatic relief for patients, such as reducing inflammation or fever in cases where traditional treatments are unavailable or ineffective.
•°•Exceptions•°•
If there is a new disease, they naturally wouldn't know much about it. But if they do, it wouldn't matter if it was new or not, they'd still be able to use their quirk on it
They cannot completely eradicate a disease, they can only control it. There is a loophole, though. Say Sora is trying to help a cancer patient. For those that don't know, cancer cells are normal human cells that mutated and went uncontrolled. Since they can control disease how they wish with enough information on it, they could force the cancerous cells to undergo apoptosis (programmed cell death). Or they could mess with the diseased cells homeostasis or osmotic pressure, and make them burst or crumple inwards. Or they could do the opposite and make sick cells healthy again.
If there overall isn't much data on a disease and they happen to know the small amount that was discovered, they'd still not be able to do anything, since they need a vast understanding of the disease.
They're quirk greatly ties with their mental knowledge and state
To answer your questions, say there's a kid with asthma (like you asked). They can only control the disease, but not the damage already done. If they know a lot about asthma, they could prevent it while the person is near them so the patient can undergo treatment, or thi could prevent it from getting worse if the patient wasn't going to get treatment at the time (with the wide world of quirks, I'd imagine there's going to be numerous medical advancements and techniques)

Overall, I'm glad that my character was able to make you so happy! I never thought anything I could do would have that effect (^~^;)ゞ
I'm sorry to hear about your hypochondriac issues, but since I don't have any experience with it I'd be glad if you offered some insight as to what's it's like since I'd like to write Sora's character realistically. ( ˙˘˙* )
If you have anymore questions, feedback, or suggestions, please don't hesitate to send in another ask! I always look forward to seeing anything in my inbox, really (๑¯◡¯๑)
I'm thinking about drawing them more often when I have the energy. If I do, I could let you know! If you want to know anything else about Sora or if I post something about them, I could always tag it with your emoji, your choice!
Sorry if that was long, I got a little excited (─.─||)
Please have a lovely day, and don't hesitate to submit any thoughts! Thank you so much!

My custom hero
Nathaniel searcy submitted:
His name is Getsu kakan, his hero name is Quadratic, and his power i call energy enforcement, his power can create a powerfull armor or any weopon of choise, but he prefers a claymore sword, he can use both his sword and armor at the same time, but if he uses it for more then 3 hours he looses his power for 1 hour, his quirk also has the power to increase by 10 times but it makes his body ache with pain , he is 17, and is a second year at U.A. He has black hair with red highlights, he has a upsidedown v scar on his face that lines up with his eyes, he is similar to midoryia in the way he acts, hes a fan boy, but hes also got a cocky attitude. He is 5.11 and he stays fit, he works out alot, and he is a bigger side, a little bigger then lemillion, his favorite hero is All Might. He doesnt have parents but he has a girlfriend named Shinowa haskai shes 17 too but goes to another school, her hero name is timelapse. I portray him as one of bakigos cusins on his moms side. He loves to fight strong villains and loves training people. He wants to be trained by All Might and become one of his successors. His hero suit i have figured out because hes such a complicated hero, so if u guys figure anything out lmk. This is my character ive dreamed about seeing on Mha since i first watched it when season 1 came out, so please give this hero a chance

Hi, thanks for your submission! It sounds like you have a very developed character already, so I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do with him!
If you had an archive profile to submit, I think it didn’t attach correctly or you didn’t submit your post as an image post. If you haven’t made one yet, feel free to check out the templates!
If you needed some help with developing him, feel free to ask any questions, but check the FAQ first! There’s lots of tips linked there in my various tags and posts. I’m not sure what you mean by “give him a chance” since I’m not really here to do anything but show off your characters once you’re ready to submit an archive profile (and, recently apparently, give out name creating tips? but you look like you’re covered in that department!), but if you have a fanfic or fancomic, feel free to submit a link to it or I can reblog it if you have it on your own blog somewhere. If you’re looking for someone to RP your character with, I’m afraid this isn’t the place for it and I’m not sure where to look for other RPers, but I’m sure there’s one for you out there. If you’re looking for art or commissions of your character, please check the FAQ for links for ways to generate your own character art or artists who may be open for commissions.
Good luck, I look forward to seeing you in the archive if you submit a character profile!

Amy’s Power Stats (At The Beginning)
Don’t be fooled... she’s very smart XD She’ll never ever be as book-smart as Momo or be at the top of the class when it comes to test-taking, but unlike Momo, Amy’s very street-smart. She looks and acts like a doofus, but beware the silly ones, she knows how people think, analyzes their weaknesses and questions society constantly too.
Often times the smartest ones are the most batshit insane I mean look at Harley Quinn and Deadpool.
Those are the kind of heroes Amy is very much like, she’s very smart, just completely fucked up and insane and she never, EVER shuts up either...
Her power only gets stronger during UA, while her telekinesis was her strongest ability, overtime her powers become even more destructive upon manifesting Sentio Compassios... she also becomes faster too, especially when it comes to teleportation.
But she’s got a problem with cooperativeness, and then the fact that she thought that the UA students were below her and witches (American Horror Story) in general and would rather rely on herself than anyone else and doesn’t really listen to anyone else either.
She straight-up told Bakugo AND Todoroki at the Sports festival that they’re “both weak” and that it’s her that they should have been afraid of. And with her magic giving her so many abilities she’s a “if you want it done right, do it yourself” kind of girl.
As for technique... girl knows how to use her magic, EXTREMELY well as a matter of fact, knows her weaknesses and uses it to her advantage in battle.
“What can I say except I’m Amy~”

Would you say humans in Mha are stronger than irl humans?
Kind of. If you mean in general, then yes, I do think that is the case. I've gone on record talking about how I believe that, with the coming of Quirks, the basic human template got an upgrade as well. This is most notable in terms of intelligence and durability, with people come up with kinds of crazy inventions and surviving attacks that would kill pretty much anyone else instantly. If you're talking about physical strength, then that's a bit harder. We haven't really seen any major physical feats that were exclusively done from someone's body as opposed to their Quirk. Most are either from a person's Quirk or from someone using their Quirk in tandem with their physical power, such as Endeavor augmenting his striking abilities with his fire. I guess there was what seemed to be a regular Muscular fighting on par with Izuku while he's using "One For All", but I've always read that as more him not going all out with his Quirk in the first round. The only other one I could think of would be Knuckleduster and his various feats of strength since he doesn't have any Quirk to speak of and is still do pretty well as a fighter. So while I like to think that is the case as well, it's hard to pull up much evidence to support it.

My own character mha submition
anonymous submitted:
This is my own character development and I would love to put her in the anime My Hero Academia. NAME: Akarui seigi Age:16 Birthday: 9/5 Quirk: energy absorption and release Akarui has the ability to absorb any energy from any thing including humans and use it has her own energy then releasing a huge amount of energy through her body. Her main source of energy or power comes from the sun and she is able to release it from a powerful blast or is the energy and surround either one body part are her whole body. Abilities or: Light allusion Energy blast Energy punch Super natural reflex and senes Unparalleled strength Energy jump Absorb energy( human, animals, plants, sun or anything that uses or have energy and able to nock them Unconscious depending on how strong they are is how long they are nocked out) Personality:Sweet, kind, cute and really smart but can be evil and mean and terrifying when made mad and can get a little crazy scary Quick sum of background story she was born Beautiful and a healthy child and every since her and parents had a good relationship until the day she got her quirk and didn’t realized how powerful she was but didn’t know she got her quirk one of her abilities is the absorb energy and she was absorbing her parents energy without knowing causing them to get sick and pass out and even fighting all the time and wasn’t until Akarui was tried from the fighting and accidentally blast the wall finding out she got her quirk but couldn’t control it so parents try to find trainers to help control her powers but no luck after more fighting with parent the mother almost had a near death experience and the father made the decision to kick the child out. Know the child was homeless going back to the first season of mha it talks about how all for one did experiment on people to make Nomos but my idea is before he experiment on people he experiment on kids first knowing they Have a longer time expansion a scientist pick Akarui up with open hands being nice tricking her to be apart of the experiment and she is powerful enough to handle the nomos power making her the first half nomo. I wanted my character to be half nomo to get a different perspective and not as the no brain monster every one see so she can speak for the nomo. The scientist realized his mistake and help Akarui escape with some friends and send her to a friend he know that couldn’t have kids so she get adopted. Etc The hero custom idea I have and the character picture I have I can send via email
Hi, thanks for your submission! It certainly seems like an interesting character! It seems like you worked hard on it, and I’ve never seen a half-nomu like that. Very cool!
I look forward to seeing them in the archive! No need to email me, you can make your own template and then use the submit form again to submit an image :). To reiterate from my FAQ, the templates are for you to customize to your own wants and needs! If you need any help, check out the “getting started” or “tips” tag!
Alternatively, if you’re willing to donate, I can do the work for you. Thanks!

Oh, no no it's not an issue at all! I don't mind it's alright! Focus and take care of yourself first and foremost! :>
And yes! I'll be doing her template once I actually find the time to draw her in her outfit and also for the mini scenes! Also I've actually ended up changing her name to Yaren instead since I was told by some people that Yuren sounded like another english word for something else (unfortunate :'D), I don't think that should change the kanji all that much but ahh I'm unsure.
Anyway sorry for the very long blabber, I did want to say what Yaren's quirk is! Her hero name is a WIP between Waterdog, Waterpuppy, Lottie or something else entirely.
Her quirk is called Axolotl, which gives her the humanoid appearance of an axolotl and is able to do anything an axolotl can do. Having gills to breathe underwater, but also lungs to live on land, a tail to swim really fast and also incredibly fast regeneration! She's usually better suited to fight underwater. She can heal almost any part of her body, minor cuts, severed limbs and even internal organs and brain! The latter however take days to weeks to heal, everything else can take seconds or minutes depending how much blood she's willing to lose to heal quicker.
Drawbacks however include her skin being irritable and sore if she's not in water long enough so she carries a water spray to help deal with it if it starts getting sore, she's very sensitive to toxins and pollution and if she overdoes her regeneration she'll get permanent scars on those areas and will be harder to heal properly next time. Plus if she overdoes it in any part of her body, she can lose too much blood and become paralyzed or pass out from blood loss.
Extra tid bits include how her skin is naturally a light pink but if she's in water long enough it turns darker and black like a wild axolotl which helps with camouflage and much much later probably in second year or third, she finds out her saliva or blood has regenerative abilities on others if they consume it or if it's placed on a wound!
I am so so sorry that was incredibly long, her quirk is pretty detailed as I've thought and researched about it a lot! I do have issue with trying to find a way to make her able to battle, and the only idea I got is that when she gets injured she can force her body to react to it to have an adrenaline rush which makes her strong enough for a while. That and also in water, due to her high speed and better suited environment she's able to sneakily attack enemies with quick powerful punches or kicks added to her quick swim speed! Thank you for reading and I am so sorry it's so long, please please don't rush yourself replying to this! As I said take care of yourself and thank you for your help! :D
Hi!
Sorry for the late reply again! (Life is busy.)
Yeah I didn't realize the english word thing either. But like I said in my original post, there are other readings to use, or the option of rearranging the name. ("ya", like has been mentioned before, is not a reading for that kanji, so it'd be a kirakira reading if anything. Unlike in English, changing one letter of a name to make it more unique doesn't work the same way in Japanese since it changes the meaning entirely in normal cases.) One of my previous suggestions in the first post were "Yujin/Yuzin" because the kanji for "ren" could be read that way in Japanese (as previously mentioned, "ren" is not a Japanese reading, but a Chinese one), but if you're set on using "ren" you could always rearrange it to "Renyu", or use the other readings for the "yu" kanji and make "Renie" or "Reniya" or something. Or you could still change "ren" and get "Jinie" or "Jiniya" or "Jinyu", among other things.
As for the quirk, it's already really well-thought-out and thorough! I don't know if you actually need to expand on it because that's already a lot of skills (I like the bit about the camouflage, and the later-in-school-years leaning how to heal others). I think it's a careful balance between being realistic and being overpowered (which can lead to potential mary-sue moments if you're being wary about that, but it's your character and if you have fun with it you can do whatever you want--besides, in canon Izuku's got that going on himself lol). You don't really need the bit about "when she's injured she can force her blood to give her an adrenaline rush and make her super strong", that feels like too much tbh.
I think the thing about trying to give her quirk so many applications is that you're trying to wield her powers over too many fields. You want her to be a battler but also good at sneaking/surprise attack tactics but also good at rescue (which is what I thought her powers would fit! Being good at being underwater and also healing? Rescuing people seems perfect for her!) but there IS such as thing as being spread too thin. Even in-universe or in-story or wherever you're planning to use her, if you have her try to do EVERYTHING, realistically she's going to burn out. It's good to have ambition, but even most characters in MHA don't have that many focuses.
I forget which characters canonically have certain career goals, but I know for certain there are several characters whose quirks and personalities are geared more toward being disaster/rescue heroes (like the Wild Wild Pussycats) or support heroes (like Nighteye) than toward reaction/responsive heroes (like All Might) or stealth heroes (like Eraserhead, but I think his type of hero work is also arguable and fits under multiple umbrellas). It's like in the very first arc where there's a bunch of heroes standing around not helping Bakugou when he was caught in that slimy villain because they knew their quirks weren't suited to that situation--it's not cowardly, but it's realistic, when they know their quirks can do more harm than good in certain situations, even if they wanted to help.
I think that's what applies here, with your character. Yes, I understand wanting her to be able to adapt to any situation, but I think there's a point where you have to give her a goal and set her toward it. Does she want to be on the frontline reacting to villain attacks as they come and going out to apprehend them first-hand, or does she want to pre-emptively stop villains before they can rise by doing investigation and stealth work, or does she want to use her incredibly fit biology to help others when disaster strikes and there's no villain involved at all? Sure she can have ambition like Bakugou or Izuku who want to be the best #1 hero, but even they have their focuses (both are reactive striker types!) and while Izuku is adaptive (ie. he's strategic and well-prepared for a raid strike to surprise attack the base Nighteye found, or he rescued people stuck under buildings and whatnot during that exam and had good "bedside manner" for lack of a better term when dealing with rescuees) most of his actual quirk training has gone toward being brute force and quick response toward emergencies and villainous plots.
You can have her be strong but also give her vulnerabilities and that's okay. Like giving her the regeneration powers but also making them necessary because her skin or bone structure is weak like a real axolotl's, which would make her not very suited to brute force situations but that's fine because if she were perfect for speed and stealth and also brute force then it wouldn't give room for conflict or growth in your story. Forcing her to work around her weaknesses is one of those things that could make her stronger--make her more aware of herself or her surroundings or her limits or what she's willing to sacrifice (like Izuku in the entrance exam--can she afford to break her bones if it meant saving someone?) but it doesn't make the weaknesses go away, and working past those weaknesses isn't going to invalidate that they exist. She's not going to win every time--that would be boring wouldn't it?--and you need to give her ways to lose as well as ways she can triumph.
(A good example of this, and this is the first thing that popped into my mind even though it's not MHA, is Edward Elric from FMA. He's the main character so of course he wins a lot and he's tough and cool and seems like he's so strong. But the most prominent moments in the story are when his prosthetic arm/leg don't work, or he loses them, and he still fights but he's disabled but he's fully aware of this, and having abilities to work through the fights when he's missing an arm doesn't mean he's forgotten that he's missing an arm or that he never needed it to win. It means he found a way to work around those weaknesses and still achieve his goal.)
I kinda lost track of the original question/thought here, but to round back to it--when your character is injured, the adrenaline rush to fight longer or get to safety? That should be all her, that's character traits and determination and strength of will, not part of her quirk. She doesn't need some superpowered adrenaline rush to be part of her quirk, and you don't need to make her "able to battle" if she's not suited for it, unless that's one of her goals (while foregoing the other potentials her powers have--if she's aiming to fight villains face to face, then she's probably not focused on rescuing people or rounding around for a sneak attack, and in that kind of situation she should leave that up to real rescue/response heroes while she's playing distraction and keeping the villains' focus on her!) and if being able to battle ISN'T her main focus, then in a situation where she HAS to, you can make her struggle and that just makes her all the more real and interesting. You can make her get help from her classmates, or you can make her fight and lose and realize she's not suited for battle and switch focus (if it was her original focus) or realize she needs a plan to deal with that in the future while still staying true to her actual goal (if she wanted to focus on rescue for example, and she had to fight a front-line battle and she realizes she's not great at it, then maybe her strategy can just be to run and get a strike in here or there but the ultimate goal is to wait for help and backup to arrive in that case).
That was a lot so I hope it was useful and not too rambly but remember that these are just suggestions! I was just talking ^_^;;

Fleshing Out Your Character: Student Template Questionnaire
Here's a handy organized list of questions you can answer before getting started on your Ultra Archive profile! This is the student/new heroes questionnaire, the villain one is coming soon!
Main Profile section:
What is your character's name? [click here to see the "How To Create a Name for your MHA Character" post]
What is their file # (or class roster #)?
Write a quote from your character (something inspiring, significant, or a catchphrase)?
If you could describe your character and their quirk in one sentence, what would you say? (Tagline question)
What type of personality or relationship do they have with their friends/the world around them, or how would you describe their quirk and how they feel about it? (Description question)
Personal Data section:
Keep in mind that this section is totally customizable in the template, and can be optional.
What school/class or organization do they belong to?
What school/class or organization did they belong to before?
When is their birthday?
How tall are they?
What is their blood type?
What is their hometown or country of origin?
Name 2-3 things that they like?
What is their fighting style? [click here to see the “List of Fighting Styles” post]
How would you rate their POWER stat? (Grade S, A-E, or ?)
How would you rate their SPEED stat? (Grade S, A-E, or ?)
How would you rate their SKILL/TECHNIQUE stat? (Grade S, A-E, or ?)

What is your character's hero name?
In one sentence can you describe one aspect of the quirk (how it works, conditions to activate it, trivia, special moves, weaknesses/drawbacks/limits, etc.)? (Answer this question for TWO different aspects.)
Following the previous question, can you describe in further detail the mechanics or applications of the quirk, or talk about how it helps or how your character used it to be heroic? (Answer this question for each aspect described in the previous question.)
Hero Aptitude section:
This section is a little more loose than the others since you can arrange the taglines and descriptions how you want to, so these questions are just to help you get an idea of what to put there.
Can you describe what about your character's personality/demeanor makes them a hero?
What inspires or motivates them or what dreams do they have for the future?
What are their people skills like, how would they interact with the public as a hero or underground hero, or how do they interact with their friends/classmates/etc.?
What other skills (other than their quirks) do they have that can aide them in being a hero?
Quotes sections:
What would another character/friend/classmate say about your character's skills, quirk, or relationship to that other character?
What would a pro hero/teacher/other authority or professional say about your character's work ethic, or their strengths or their faults?

Challenge Prompt #3: Cartoon Crossovers
If you’re bored and want to mess around with the Ultra Archive generators/templates but don’t have an idea of what to do, or need an idea for inspiration? Take the challenge to create characters or profiles that fit the following prompt and expand the world of MHA in your own way!
What with the pandemic and everyone going on a binge of their favorite shows or checking out new shows, this prompt takes inspiration from the ATLA renaissance:
Cartoon Crossovers
Create your own MHA AU of your favorite animated show!
Reinvent your favorite characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Powerpuff Girls, One Piece, Danny Phantom, Teen Titans, Young Justice, The Incredibles, She-Ra, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Inuyasha, Naruto, Bleach, Haikyuu, Fullmetal Alchemist, How to Train Your Dragon... literally any series, movie, etc.--take any cartoon (or anime or animated movie) character and fit them into the MHA world!
Give them a quirk if they don’t have one, or adapt their already-present abilities to be a quirk. Make up histories for how they fit into the MHA world or make them part of MHA history or future... (Were the benders of ATLA/the demons of Inuyasha/the alchemists of FMA/etc. the first “quirk users”, or could Young Justice/The Incredibles/etc. be the future of the MHA world?)
Whether these characters are students or villains or just civilians who have notable powers--what do you imagine they’d be like in the MHA universe?
