Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1431
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1431 Brought to you by ANN Highlighting the February 3368 Dirty 30 The raid was still ongoing, but the Gaming Authorities didnt care, and told those who wanted to compete for prizes that all Mechs massing 35 tons or more would be ignored when it came to fighting on the mountains. Luckily, this time it was a sudden death event, not a Chrono, so there were still time to get in some serious licks against the Strategoi invasion forces before the scramble began. After the invasion forces had been dispatched, my 30 ton formation was called up and marched to the mountains. We arrived at K4 several hours before the scramble were to start, and made an endrun for the top. As my body was totally beaten, the crew were told to hold at all costs, get footage of all the action, and only call me if they got displaced. No calls arrived to tear me out of my slumber, and when I finally woke up there was a new Nephilax outside my bedroom window. And according to the footage that accompanied the prize, the full list of Nephilax winners had been: Div 1  (20 Commanders): Sherriff Leary Wretham, O.s.c. (23h,48m) 2: Fabio Favaro 3: Bernard Johnson 4: Were Wolf 5: Dan Ross 6: Robert C Goetz Sr 7: Makema Mathews 8: Mk Mathews 9: Lewis Reed 10: Chad Leon Baker Div 2 (12 Commanders): Michael Coldwell, B.o.A.D. (21h,32m) Div 3 (14 Commanders): Chong Chin, Heroes (2m,37s) Div 4 (15 Commanders): Sten Hugo Hiller, Star League (4h,50s) Div 5 (17 Commanders): Scott Eggers, Death`s Revenge (13h,3m) Div 6 (15 Commanders): Brian Patenaude, Black Star Renegades (5h,3m) Div 7  (17 Commanders): Spartia Mechapaulos, T.I.o.M.T. (1h,4m) Div 8  (16 Commanders): NameOf Profile, Mad Scientist 1 (8m,27s) Div 9  (26 Commanders): Jeetaur, Murdermech Micro (2h,8m) 5+6+9(1S)+8+6+6+11(2S)+5+0= Three Silvers and fifty-three Bronzes were awarded to Commanders who obviously had overweight mechs in their formations. Total Contestants: 152 Total medals claimed: 131 (of 135 possible) Compared to the Chrono we just finished, the participation was reduced by fourty-one Commanders. On the other hand, the imbalance was not much worse than the last time, and no more than four Bronzes in total had to be returned for resmelting after the award ceremony. The last half-hour saw only two Golds changing hands, while five Golds was held for a minimum of two hours. Was this due to strong winners, or a lack of fighting spirit avialible? Hard to say. Perhaps a clue can be found if we study the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event: .............Silvers......Bronzes Div 1 ....1 of 4.........6 of 10 Div 2 ....4 of 4.........7 of 7 Div 3 ....1 of 4.........7 of 9 Div 4 ....1 of 4.........6 of 10 Div 5 ....3 of 4.........9 of 10 Div 6 ....2 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 7 ....1 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 8 ....3 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 9 ....4 of 4.........6 of 10 Only one top (K2) was bereft of succesfull medal attacks this time. On the other hand, none of the tops had sufficient action to redistribute the majority of their medals either. All in all sixteen Silvers(45%) and nineteen Bronzes(22%) changed hands during the scramble. So at least the Silvers were more mobile than the Golds(22%) This became one of the "none" events. None of the clans secured more than one Gold, none of the unaligned Commanders grabbed a Gold, and none of the last events Gold winners managed to get a follow-up win. Upcoming event: Selfsame Here we are not allowed to use more than one model of Mechs. But each Commander is free to select which model they prefer to use. The model placed in the Pointmech position will be the only Mechs that will fight for a Commander. Event ends February 9 between 1930 and 2000 New York Time

Announcing: The 2018 REALTOR® Good Neighbor Award Winners
The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) has announced its 2018 Good Neighbor Award winners: Omayra Borges, Reality Realty, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Chet Choman, Colorado Realty and Land Co., Alamosa, Colo.; Jeremy Lichtenstein, RE/MAX Realty Services, Bethesda, Md.; Joy C. Nelson, Haugan Nelson Realty, Watertown, S.D.; and Elias Thomas III, Exit Key Real Estate, Shapleigh, Maine.
Each of the five winners—selected by a multi-stage, criteria-based judging process—will receive a $10,000 grant for their charity and be featured in the November/December issue of REALTOR® Magazine. The recipients will also be presented with crystal trophies on Sat., November 3, during the 2018 REALTORS® Conference & Expo in Boston.
“This year’s Good Neighbors have inspired their communities and made a lasting impact by going the extra mile to help others in need,” says NAR President Elizabeth Mendenhall. “These selfless individuals remind us all of the true meaning, and importance, of giving back to our communities.”
2018 Good Neighbor Award Winners
Omayra Borges, Reality Realty, San Juan, Puerto Rico Borges co-founded nonprofit Fundación Mochileando 100×35 to bring hope after the destruction of Hurricane Maria. She focused on remote mountain villages, some of the regions hit hardest by last summer’s storm, delivering essentials like water and medicine and repairing homes across the island. She has raised $1.1 million and helped over 45,000 people in Puerto Rico.
Chet Choman, Colorado Realty and Land Co., Alamosa, Colo. Choman co-founded one of the first rural homeless shelters in the country and has dedicated 40 years to fighting homelessness and hunger. Today, La Puente Home is a 45-bed shelter that also operates after-school programs and 15 food pantries, serving about 16,000 people annually—that’s about one out of every three people in a six-county area larger than Massachusetts.
Jeremy Lichtenstein, RE/MAX Realty Services, Bethesda, Md. When Lichtenstein realized that thousands of children didn’t have enough to eat in his wealthy Washington, D.C., suburb, he sprang into action. The nonprofit organization Kids in Need Distributors (KIND) he founded in 2012 has grown from providing weekend food for 37 students at one public school to now serving some 2,100 children across 25 area schools.
Joy C. Nelson, Haugan Nelson Realty, Watertown, S.D. Nelson founded Joy Ranch to create a home for underserved people, offering countless opportunities for recreation, therapy and education. The barrier-free, ADA-accessible ranch is a place where people of any ability can go horseback riding and enjoy other outdoor activities without being limited by medical concerns.
Elias Thomas III, GRI, Exit Key Real Estate, Shapleigh, Maine For 40 years, Thomas has led The Rotary Foundation, organizing trips to India to immunize over 500 children against polio and build a system of dams to provide villagers with access to clean water. He has led more than 350 Rotarians from around the world on these trips, raising more than $350,000 along the way.
In addition to the winners, five REALTORS® have been recognized as Good Neighbor Award honorable mentions, and will each receive $2,500 grants: Annette Evans, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New Jersey Properties, Livingston, N.J., 30-year board member for JESPY House Inc.; Necia T. Freeman, Old Colony REALTORS® of Huntington, Barboursville, W.V., founder of Backpacks & Brown Bags; Richard Harris, Richard Harris & Associates Inc., Palm Harbor, Fla., president of the Arc Tampa Bay; Michael LaFargue, Coldwell Banker Residential, Chicago, president of West Chesterfield Community Association; and Jack Persin, Baird & Warner, Naperville, Ill., co-founder of Naperville Responds for Veterans.
Additionally, in September, the public voted for its favorite Good Neighbor Award finalist, crowning this year’s “Web Choice Favorites.” A total of 165,000 votes were cast. This year’s Web Choice Favorites are Michael LaFargue, who will receive an additional $2,500 bonus donation for the West Chesterfield Community Association and the Redline Extension, and Necia Freeman and Joy Nelson, who will each receive additional $1,250 bonus donations for Backpacks and Brown Bags and Joy Ranch. The Web Choice Favorite voting and bonus grants are courtesy of realtor.com®.
“The REALTORS® recognized as Good Neighbors are outstanding examples of the commitment to community that’s so important in the real estate industry,” says Ryan O’Hara, CEO of realtor.com. “Home is everything to us at realtor.com, and that’s a value we share with each and every one of NAR’s members. Realtor.com is proud to sponsor the Good Neighbor Awards program, and we look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with the industry as we work together to make meaningful connections between consumers and REALTORS®.”
NAR’s Good Neighbor Awards is supported by primary sponsor realtor.com and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Nominees were judged on their personal contribution of time, as well as financial and material contributions to benefit their cause. To be eligible, nominees must be NAR members in good standing.
The Good Neighbor Awards have been granted annually since 2000. More than $1.1 million in grants have been awarded to the winners’ charities.

I love the Boston accent. I can’t enough of it. Mike Gorman and Tommy Heinsohn are the best thing to come out of Beantown since Ray Donovan and his crazy father, Jon Voight.
This was not an instant classic for obvious reasons. The short-handed Sixers looked outmatched against the short-handed Celtics, who seemingly scored at will for much of the night.
So while it’s fruitless to dive too deep into a game that didn’t feature Joel Embiid, JJ Redick or Robert Covington, we did get to see more from rookie pair Markelle Fultz and Ben Simmons.
Markelle Fultz
He checked into the game around 6:30 of the first quarter and didn’t waste any time driving to the rim for a layup and foul.
I thought Fultz looked much more comfortable with the ball in his hands rather than trying to find his game with Simmons running the point. Both players are excellent at getting to the basket, though Fultz looks to be the slightly smoother finisher. Simmons seems like a better passer, with elite vision to kick the ball back outside.
The issue right now is that I think Simmons and Fultz have slightly overlapping strengths and weaknesses. Both are better with ball-in-hand while driving. Neither one is looking to shoot a jumper, nor are they wow-ing us with off the ball movement right now. This is something the Sixers would like to see from Fultz, however, because part of the reason his draft stock was so high was because he could score without dominating the ball.
It wasn’t until the third quarter that Fultz even attempted a shot outside the key, missing on a 15-foot jumper. In the fourth, he hit a really smooth baseline jumper from about 11 feet.
He also showed some really nice moments with that spin move, which he probably overused at times:
Marcus Smart giving Markelle Fultz a nice little "welcome to the league" moment. http://pic.twitter.com/xaCrTQ57fq
— Taylor C. Snow (@taylorcsnow) October 10, 2017
  Ben Simmons
Simmons will get to the rim frequently this season. An early storyline might be his finishing in the paint.
He finished 6-12 on the night and added six rebounds.
Take a look at his shooting chart from Monday night, courtesy of ESPN.com:
You see all six of his made shots coming from that clump of black right underneath the rim. He missed both of his shot attempts from outside the paint.
For comparison, this is what Fultz’s chart looked like:
Fultz was 3-5 in the paint and 1-2 outside of it. Simmons was 6-10 inside and 0-2 outside. Neither player attempted a three-pointer.
There’s overlap there, for sure.
If one of Simmons or Fultz develops a consistent outside shot, that gives you another scoring threat alongside Redick and Covington. Right now, three games into the preseason, it feels like there’s a bit of redundancy. The thing is, Fultz was over a 40% three-point shooter in college, and his decision to tweak his shot over the summer seems to have hurt his confidence to shoot, especially when you consider what we saw in the Summer League, where he looked just fine shooting from outside the paint and in one game hit four three-pointers.
  Free throw shooting
It wasn’t great.
Fultz went 2-5 and Simmons was 3-10. That’s 40% and 30% for the pair.
The entire team shot 51.7% from the stripe.
This video got a lot of play last night, with Fultz sort of shot-putting a brick from an awkward starting point:
Biggest problem with Fultz free throw is that he starts it at shoulder height. Needs to start at waist level for rhythm and POWER http://pic.twitter.com/CExnUgao4r
— BBALLBREAKDOWN (@bballbreakdown) October 9, 2017
I’m not sure what that’s all about. Is the shoulder bothering him? His release point is incredibly high and the ball isn’t even resting in his palm, he’s pushing it with his finger tips.
Simmons’ form looks smoother from the waist up, but he seems to keep his feet angled away from the basket.
This is going to be a pretty big topic moving forward, considering that both of these guys are going to draw fouls while attacking the rim. Fultz and Simmons shot more free throws last night (15) than the rest of their teammates combined (14).
  Regular shooting
Assuming that the dribble-drive and kick out is going to be there all season long, Redick and Covington are going to have to be a HUGE part of the Sixers offense.
The short-handed squad shot 44% from the field last night, but just 28% from three. Furkan Kormaz hit 3-4 from behind the arc and made 5-7 field goals overall.
Speaking of Korkmaz, I like the kid. I keep coming back to the word “assertive” to describe his preseason. He’s really looking for opportunities to shoot, but he’s not chucking it up aimlessly either. There’s a tempered aggression, if that makes sense.
He’s been no worse than Justin Anderson and Nik Stauskas, who combined to go 2-16 last night and 0-6 from three-point range.
Food for thought:
Oh is Furkan Korkmaz not a secret anymore? Are we allowed to talk about how he's definitely their best non-Redick wing?
— TS% Eliot (Spooky) (@Cosmis) October 1, 2017
  More Okafor
Jahlil Okafor got the start with Richaun Holmes missing via injury.
He didn’t exactly bust his butt in this game, but who did? He only just returned from the knee injury, after all, so I don’t expect T.J. McConnell levels of exertion.
To me, the problem with Okafor isn’t his physical movement or fluidity. I do think vegan Jah is a little smoother than omnivore Jah.
The issue is that diet and health have no bearing on mental capacity or court awareness, which he continues to show very little of. Often, he’s slow to recognize an opponent’s offensive movement, or see a second defender coming when he receives the ball down low (and palms it).
Okafor’s offensive game might be anachronistic, but it’s effective. He’s still a defensive liability, however, and until he improves that part of his game, it’s just hard to justify giving him extended minutes.
I’ll hold off on a more definitive take until the end of the preseason.
Abdel Nader with the strong finish through contact! http://pic.twitter.com/VdQTRZgrRE
— Boston Celtics (@celtics) October 10, 2017
  Saric back
Nice to Dario Saric back on the court, even if he looked a bit rusty.
He had a great offensive rebound and put-back around 9:52 in the second quarter. That was one of just five offensive boards for the Sixers. Saric had five points and seven rebounds going into halftime.
He finished with nine and seven on the night, but only hit one of five three-point attempts. It was created from a Simmons drive:
A beautiful thing.
Simmons grabs the board, runs the floor, penetrates and kicks to Dario for an easy triple. http://pic.twitter.com/Bki4lNrVSd
— NBC Sports Philly (@NBCSPhilly) October 10, 2017
He’ll be another guy who can step up and take advantage of that gravity shift when Simmons and Fultz are driving to the rim.
That’s about it all I’ve got for this game, which will will now be wiped off the DVR forever.

CC - AM by Michael C Coldwell // This "visual album" is part of Michael C Coldwell’s ongoing research into the ghostly properties of photography, video and radio - the aura of the obsolete medium and the sublation of the analogue by the digital, reality by simulation. Conflux Coldwell - Ante Meridiem or CC | AM is a body of work about the slow death of shortwave radio. http://ift.tt/2xg6eUt We are saturated in the incessant pulsing of invisible lights, their waves pass through walls and through our bodies without our noticing, carrying memories, pictures, music and strange signals. Like some synesthesia machine, the radio allows us to tune into them, and listen to these lights. However, as the digital revolution advances a desert has opened up in the once busy aether. The analogue airwaves are slowly dying. Huge tracks of AM radio have been abandoned for newer methods of broadcast. This album was created out of the odd scraps of sound left behind in the void - strange military signals, faint foreign stations and morse code flickering in a sea of unending noise and static. Every sound used to make this music was recorded from a Sony ICF-2001D Synthesised Receiver, a worldband radio from the 1980s capable of picking up very long-distance signals. This machine is historically significant because of its role in Cold War espionage. It was used by Eastern-Bloc spies in the West to receive coded messages in the form of mysterious ‘numbers stations’, a very few of which still seem to be in operation. Due to the way shortwave signals are reflected back off the ionosphere, the best time to record these distant signals is just before dawn.

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1416
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1416 Brought to you by ANN Highlighting the May 3367 Northern Wind The Gaming Authorities decided to have another tonnage limited event, and set the limit at 95 tons. In addition, on the six highest tops they decided to let the Boreas shine, so those fighting there were allowed to use no more than one non-Boreas. Among the 95 tonners the Boreas is probably the best-selling model, and during the last SelfSame event it won Gold on most of the tops. So while we had a quartet of them, the odds were that many of the opponents might have at least as many. Well, first order of the day was to select what Mech to send along. The best choice would be among the other 95 ton elite models, but should we use the Cyclops, Anubis or Cameron? After a serious decision process between the three likely pilots using the rock/paper/scissors metod, the Cyclops drew the longest straw. This gaive us a five-Mech line and it was sent to the mountains. After looking at the opponents, it seemed most of them had arrived using what looked suspiciously like their main formations, although a half-dozen at least had Boreas`es at point. Some heavy strikes later we had managed to claim a spot on the slopes, and decided to halt as the scramble was still some time into the future. Then a crisis arose out in the rim. One of our clients was under attack, and it was my turn to respond. Cursing under my breath, the crew were told to hold as best they could while I delt with this brushfire. Hopefully I would be beack in time for the scramble, but to keep the crew busy they were told to get as much footage as they could. A long time later I returned. The climb had ended long since, but at least the footage told me that the winners had been: Div 1 442+ (25 Commanders): Ben Rail, Winters Coming (1h,31m) 2: Sherriff Leary Wretham 3: Shawn Wretham 4: Makema Mathews 5: Bernard Johnson 6: Gary Muenzel 7: Robert C Goetz Sr 8: Michael Coldwell 9: Fabio Favaro 10:George Warren Div 2 -441 (13 Commanders): Chong Chin, Heroes  (2h,2m) Div 3 -339 (22 Commanders): Darryl Proctor, Northwind Dragons (3m,48s) Div 4 -219 (20 Commanders): Luc Lachance, Ronins (2m,6s) Div 5 -156 (18 Commanders): Jay Davis, Diamond Dragons (38m,45s) Div 6 -129 (17 Commanders): Spartia Mechapoulos, T.I.o.M.T. (19m,20s) Div 7  99 (24 Commanders): John D, T.I.o.M.T. (1d,7h) Div 8 -70 (26 Commanders): Allan Layton, **R.V.** (1h,29m) Div 9 -39 (29 Commanders): RobertGoetz, Ronins 2 (20h,16m) While it is almost impossible to say how many Commanders stayed within the Boreas requirement, we can at least say that 11(2S)+8(3S)+7(2S)+6(2S)+5+5(G,1S)+4+0+0= One Gold, ten Silvers and thirty-five Bronzes was awarded to Commanders who clearly had overweight Mechs in their formations. Total Contestants: 194 Total medals claimed: 133 (of 135 possible) Compared to the Rainbow event we had previously, the number of contestants was increased by twenty-five. But there were still some imbalance between the tops, so two of the Bronzes on K2 ended unclaimed and had to be returned for resmelting, The last half-hour saw a trio of Golds changing hands while another trio of Golds were held for more than two hours. One of the later were held for more than a day. So some close fights, and some strong winners. Question is if the fighting for the rest of the prizes was more intense? To find out, we count the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event: .............Silvers......Bronzes Div 1 ....3 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 2 ....4 of 4.........8 of 8 Div 3 ....1 of 4.........7 of 10 Div 4 ....2 of 4.........7 of 10 Div 5 ....4 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 6 ....3 of 4.......10 of 10 Div 7 ....4 of 4.........6 of 10 Div 8 ....3 of 4.........6 of 10 Div 9 ....4 of 4.........8 of 10 On two of the tops (K2 and K5) there were not even a single successfull medal attack. And the fighting was not fierce enough to redistribute the majority of the medals on any of the other tops either. The total number new medal holders was down to eight Silvers(22%) and  eighteen Bronzes(21%), both below the 33% turnover for the Golds. This event saw just The Isle of Misfit Toys claiming a double Gold, they got them by winning on both K6 and K7. There were no unaligned winners this time, but The Isle of Misfit Toys had an repeat winner as well: Spartia Mechapoulos on K6. Upcoming event: King of the Mountain Here we get another unlimited battle, but unlike the King Chrono we had back in March, this is a sudden death event. Event ends January 17 between 1900 and 1930 New York Time

After nearly a month of YouTube wormholes, reading scouting reports, workout observations, banter, and just my overall excellent basketball knowledge (…), it has come time for the CB Big Board, or, if you will, the CBBB, or C3B, or CTripleB, or C Big Baller Brand, or CB3.
This list represents the best players for the Sixers, regardless of likelihood of their availability.
1) Markelle Fultz
No-brainer. He’s the best player available and also the perfect fit for the Sixers.
2) Lonzo Ball
Despite all the recent anti-Ball talk, it’s hard to make an argument that Lonzo Ball wouldn’t be the second best fit for the Sixers. He’s a guard who can shoot, handle the ball and play off of it. There are some concerns about his competitiveness and intangibles, and whether his playmaking ability would clash with Ben Simmons’, but he checks most if not all of the boxes the Sixers are looking to check.
3) Josh Jackson
This is a bit of a flash point because, at three, Jackson would represent the best player available but perhaps not the best fit. In fact, certainly not the best fit. But I think his skill and athleticism trump those concerns. He is a crazy athletic wing who will most likely be a highlight reel player. If you watch the Cavs-Warriors series, it’s not hard to see how a guy like Jackson can succeed in a high-octane offensive. He’ll be able to run the floor with anyone and stop an elite wing. His shot improved markedly through the second half of last season with Kansas. If he continues on that trajectory and develops even a semi-reliable NBA jumper, he’ll  be an All-Star. Better, he’s competitive and plays with a bit of an edge, something that should go well alongside Simmons’ somewhat nonchalant demeanor (even if that’s an unfair assessment of a guy we haven’t seen play an NBA game yet). I feel like he’s got a little bit of Draymond Green in him (figurative). Last year, Fran Fraschilla said Jackson was as intense as any player he’s seen in the last 5-10 years, and indeed Jackson looks up to Green. Every team needs that guy, and the Sixers don’t have one yet.
4) Malik Monk
Four represents the first spot where fit will beat talent for the Sixers. Similar to how it’s not hard to see how Jackson could fit in a modern NBA offense, it’s easy to see the value in a shooter like Monk. His ceiling is limited mostly by his inability to create his own shot and defend, but he’s hardly just a spot-up shooter and more athletic than people think. The Sixers can do a lot worse than an elite role player, especially one that fills a need.
5) Jonathan Isaac
Isaac possesses the ability to be a near-transformational talent– he’s a tall wing with a handle and can shoot. The knocks on him are not entirely dissimilar from the knocks on Kevin Durant coming out of college, most having to do with his strength and intensity. I’d say the risk-reward platter is greatest with him, though. He’s a bit raw and a late-bloomer, therefore there are some unknowns. If you believe the Sixers are set with their core of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons (debatable!), it would make more sense for them to draft more of a sure-thing or for fit.
6) De’Aaron Fox
If for no other reason than Fox is a potential superstar, he has to be somewhere on this list. But his shot sucks. Same as with Isaac– if you’re not convinced that the core is set, Fox is a guy you could absolutely build around should something happen to the other guys. He could also develop a shot, in which case passing on him would become very, very hard to swallow.
7) Dennis Smith Jr.
I feel like he’s a malcontent who will never realize his true potential. He may be dumb. HOWEVER, he was coming off a knee injury last year on a bad NC State team and possesses top-pick skills and athleticism. If harnessed properly, he could be the most talented guard to come out of this class. But I kind of hate him, which may or may not be considered a strength.
8) Jayson Tatum
Old-school Chevy. Do not want.
9) Lauri Markkanen
Hello, I’m a seven – SEVEN! – footer who can shoot. Any questions?
10) Frank Ntilikina
He’s a great fit with the Sixers. A good defender and well-rounded guard. But his ceiling is low.
  There you have it.
