opening a hopefully constructive convo…

i try to keep my fics semi historically accurate (aka blu since i no longer have my other full length fics) which means including the other boys’ partners, past and present.

i know some folks have issues with sierra and crystal. i try not to conjecture much about the boys’ relationships and i also don’t want to invalidate anyone’s issues with them bc from what i have seen they’re warranted in some regards, HOWEVER, my works are fiction.

basically, should i remove crystal/sierra/any other irl partners from the stories as characters? how do we feel about having them in there? i want to be sensitive to people’s opinions and feelings. i’ll also note they play VERY minor roles in any fic i write/will write.

Summary: The tour was over, and Michael and Y/N finally met again. Both were uncertain who they were to each other after months being apart.

Author's Note: Just a small episode that popped into my head the other days. Hopefully you'll like it! Also, requests are open and encouraged ♡

The cold air hit the lungs as Michael left the airport and saw her. She was standing next to a greasy column numbered “four”, wrapping in a dark blue jacket and holding a black one for him. Y/N was shifting from foot to foot, trying to keep herself warm as he landed later than they expected, and she had to wait there longer than necessary. She could come back to a car she parked nearby, but stupidly felt like if she’d keep stare at the exit, Mike would appear earlier.

A short smile sparkled on his face as he came closer and hugged the girl tight. Y/N only sighed and closed the eyes, nuzzling his shoulder. They kept silence just for a moment but for some reason it felt like eternity. None of them felt happiness from seeing each other, or better to say the sadness simply was stronger that night.

She was tired. He knew she was, and he could tell that not just by her sleepy eyes and messy hair. He could tell that by her replies that became shorter through the weeks being apart and by the hug at that particular moment while she was barely touching his back. 

Y/N knew it was vividly his fault, and she knew what she was getting into by dating him. They just didn’t expect it to be that hard, apparently. Three months apart, less than a week together, and five more months separated. Were they even in relationships at all? 

“Hey,” Michael finally said quietly, not expecting his voice to be so hoarse. The guy broke the hug and took the jacket from her, feeling rather uncertain if he could even leave a kiss on his girlfriend’s lips. He still saw a person he loved in front of him, and he only hoped he didn’t look alien to her after months being away from each other.

“Hey,” she smiled in the same sad manner and gave a short smack on his lips herself. The taste still was able to awake little butterflies in the stomach. Y/N wanted to say many things, how she missed him or how she hated them being apart, but instead the girl silently turned to the car, being ready to head home with him.

“I’ll drive,” Michael said and hurried up to the driver’s side after putting his suitcase and a backpack in a trunk. He was drowsy, but he knew Y/N was no less, so he just couldn’t allow her to drive all the way back. She didn’t even argue, only nodded and chose a passenger seat next to him. 

The road was rather empty. They were passing by few cheap hotels and convenience stores; the lights illuminated the road which at some moment started to seem almost endless. Mike saw how Y/N’s head slowly sank to a side, her eyes were shut closed and the breath became steadier. He hated himself for what he was planning to do, but the silence was truly killing him and he couldn’t hold the bitter thoughts to himself any longer.

“Look, I’m sorry,” he started and glanced at Y/N, as she sighed heavily and opened her eyes. “I know it’s not easy, but–”

“Are we really going to talk about it now?” she interrupted him irritably, although still with a sleepy voice.

But it was enough for Mike to get annoyed, too.

“When then? Tomorrow morning you’ll head to work and–”

“Not you talking about my working schedule,” she smirked.

“Stop interrupting me,” Michael spoke out every word and squeezed the steering wheel. He hated being interrupted, and she knew that.

“Don’t tell me what to do,” Y/N mumbled under her nose but loud enough for him to hear and turned a head to the side window of the car.

No one said anything else after that, and the silence in the car became even more unbearable. 

She didn’t fall asleep on the way home, and no one said anything else until the end of their trip.

“Welcome home, Mike,” Y/N was the first to break the silence, as they entered their house and turned on the light.

“Thanks…” Michael mumbled and looked around. He had a minute to adjust to the place, as the house seemed as if not his for a moment. That’s how long he was gone.

The girl looked at Michael, observing his haggard face. It felt odd to see him there, in their house. Her eyes became wet all of a sudden, Y/N stepped forward and hugged the guy tight, touching his cheek with her. Mike reacted right away, catching her in the arms and leaving a kiss on her cheek before giving a deep one on the lips.

“I’ve missed you so much,” he whispered. “I’m sorry it was a mess, Y/N. I know I promised to be here for you. I know I…”

“It’s not your fault, Mikey,” she sighed, hugging her favourite boy only tighter. “I know it’s your work and you are trying your best. It’s just…”

“Can be really hard sometimes.”

“Yeah…” the girl agreed quietly.

The time zones sucked, sometimes they couldn’t talk for days because of the time difference. He’d leave a message early morning and she’d be able to read right away only if she had insomnia once again and couldn’t sleep without him by her side.

“I took few days off so we could spend some time together…” she added in whisper.  

“Really?” Mike pulled away lightly to see her face and smiled wider. “Y/N…”

He knew how important the job was to her, it was not like he was putting his career higher than hers. But still he appreciated such gesture a lot. The happiness, though, was replaced by another sadnesss almost immediately. Michael started to feel awful as when he had few days doing nothing, he was lying in bed in a hotel room without any powers to buy a ticket and fly home instead. The touring was exhausting, no matter how much he enjoyed to perform.

Y/N was simply trying to save what was left between them. It was still a long way back to the relationships they had when they’ve just met, she missed their candy-bouquet period. But she believed they could overcome the issues and find compromises as they both wanted it.

“I love you,” he said and simply lifted her off the floor.

“I love you, too, Mikey,” Y/N whispered back with a smile on her face.

And the happiness from the fact that they finally saw each other filled their hearts again.

THE ACCIDENT

Pairing: ashton irwin xreader

Word Count: 1203

Well, this hands down might be one of the worst days of your life. Sitting in a bed with thin blue sheets, an IV in the crook of your arm, and an oxygen mask covering your nose and mouth, you couldn’t really think of much to feel about this except annoyance. You had heard the doctors talking when they thought you were still asleep. You had no major injuries, just a minor concussion. You could hear your phone buzzing over and over again on the table next to you. It was probably Ashton, and possibly the rest of the guys. You had been on the way there when an absolute idiot ran a red light and hit the back of your car. Luckily, he’d hit the side you weren’t on, causing more damage to the car than you. Your car had spun a bit, and you had hit your head on the driver’s side interior. Apparently that was what had caused the concussion, even though you were still mostly conscious in the ambulance. You hadn’t passed out until halfway to the hospital.

  Ashton was this close to losing his fucking mind. He’d been calling you nonstop for hours. You were supposed to be here by now. You were supposed to be here hours ago. He was a nervous wreck, and had all the other boys texting and calling your phone as well. If you were anybody except his girlfriend, they would’ve laughed and told him to relax, but they did it without complaint because they were starting to worry and they wanted to keep Ash somewhat sane in case they got bad news. Ashton finally put his phone down after calling you 75 times. As soon as he put it down, it rang. He launched to pick it up.

“Yes, hello?”

“Is this Ashton Irwin?”

“It is.”

“Okay. We’re calling you from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center because you were listed as an emergency contact-” 

“Is this- this is a hospital!”

“Yes, it is. Mr. Irwin if you would just let me speak-”

‘What the hell is going on?!”

“You were listed as an emergency contact for who I assume to be your girlfriend?”

“Yes. She’s the only one I’m listed for.”

“She was in a car accident.”

“Is she okay?!”

“She’s stable. No major injuries. A minor concussion, but treatable, and she’ll be fine. However, she’s awake, and she’s asking for you. She’s also asking for a few other people. A Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, and Calum Hood. Do any of those ring a bell?”

“Yes. They do. We’ll be there in 15.”

“Alright. Thank you.”

He hung up the phone and ran to the living room.

“We gotta go.”

Calum looked up. 

“Where?”

“The hospital. She was in a car accident. She’s asking for all of us. Let’s go.”

Less than three minutes later, Ashton was behind the wheel speeding down the interstate, Luke trying to calm him down.

“Ash-”

“No. Do not “Ash” me. My girlfriend is in the fucking HOSPITAL. Do not tell me to calm down.”

Luke sighed.

“I understand that. Believe me, I’m worried too. However, the nurse who called you told you that her condition was stable. She’s not a critical patient, she’s not in immediate danger. Unlike us, who WILL be in immediate danger if you keep swinging around these turns like this and going 20 over. You’re no help to her if you get into a car accident yourself. Or arrested because that’s a fucking cop in front of us. Slow. Down.”

Michael spoke up from the backseat.

“I second this. I think Cal’s about to hurl if you keep acting like this is a roller coaster cart.”

A solid 15 minutes later, without any vomit, any arrests or accidents, Ashton did his best to calmly pull into a parking spot. Regardless, he still sprinted into the front doors of the hospital, the other three close on his heels.

He practically threw himself at the front desk, slightly scaring the receptionist. 

“Where is she??”

The receptionist gave him a blank stare.

“Let me guess. You’re Mr. Irwin.”

The other three ran in behind him.

“He is, yes. Do you mind telling us which room she’s in?” 

“And you are?”

“Hood, Calum Hood.”

The receptionist nodded.

“She’s in B240. Upstairs, second door on the left. Stairs and elevator are down this hallway on the right.”

Michael smiled at her.

“Thank you so much. Come on guys.”

  You looked up to see four men walking into the room. Even in your slightly out-of-it state, you recognized them all, and a strong smile covered your face. Your doctor had cleared you to remove the oxygen mask the last time she’d visited the room, so you sat up to see them. You were happy Ash didn’t have to see that. He was clearly already panicked, so there was no way the sight would’ve done anything but freak him out, even if it was just for precautionary measure.

“Oh my god. Oh my god. What the hell. I can’t believe this happened! Are you okay?!”

You smiled. Same old Ash. 

“I’m fine. Perfect now that you’re here. Just a minor concussion.”

Ashton spent the rest of the night and morning until you were discharged holding your hand or some part of your arm. The nurses knew there was no way in hell that they were getting him out of there, and they just gave up. He slept in the chair in the room, refusing to leave even when the rest of the guys did. They had attempted to get him to leave, but just like the nurses, they gave up after an hour. They did come back right before visiting hours ended and brought him a lot of food and water. 

“Guys. I’m fine.”

“You will be no help to her in a hospital bed yourself. Drink. Eat.”

“Or I’ll shove it down your throat.”

Michael received 2 separate hits to the arms.

“Okay! I don’t want to be in a hospital bed either. Stop hitting me!”

Ashton did end up eating, and you made sure he drank the entire bottle of water.

The doctor came in around 11 AM, and met Ashton officially for the first time, when he wasn’t panicking and worrying over every little thing. He was still nervous of course, but not as panicked as he was when he first got here, but he was calming down every hour.

The doctor came in with quite a bit of paperwork, but also a solid amount of good news. 

“We’re gonna run a few more tests, all for basic precautionary measures, and when they come back clean and healthy, as I’m sure they will, you’ll be good to go.”

Ashton smiled. 

“Awesome.”

You smiled back at him.

“See? I told you I’ll be fine.”

“I believed you.”

The doctor returned.

“The tests are clear.. Stick with each other. The young love you guys have will last.”

Ashton glanced at him.

“I’m good to kiss her right?”

“She’s discharged. Go home, and do whatever you want, just be careful of her head.”

“Will do.”

He looked at you.

“Don’t ever get in another car wreck again.”

“I won’t.”
