☆A dress. A suit. The buzzing of guests below. You could feel them, the excitement, the laughter and smiles of two families coming together, celebrating a once in a lifetime love. Louder and louder, the time growing closer. You peaked over the railing of the grand staircase, the hall fuller by the second, wishing to catch a glimpse of that familiar smile. You wanted to see him, sure he was getting into trouble somewhere with his cousins, spilling something on his jacket. Unable to see him until you were walking down the aisle, he promised you the night before everything would be okay. All the stress of the planning, the drama of everyday life engaged in the family business, it was all worth today, when Michael laughed you'd be stuck with him forever, that there was still time to run. But you never would, not if he wasn't by your side. Too long you went without one another. Too long you survived and lived alone, unaware all the missing pieces, all the things that never made sense, would make sense with him, that everything would come together when you were with him. There was still enough time to run, get a car and slip away with a bottle of something strong, but you would only go if he was the one whisking you away. . . . . ☆
