June 1st…this day in music History….
1959 - Juke Box Jury
The first edition of Juke Box Jury aired on the BBC. The shows host, David Jacobs, lead a revolving panel of guests in critiquing the week's top record releases. Although the songs were never played in their entirety, the four judges gave a verdict on whether each would be a "hit" or a "miss".
1959 - Johnny Horton
'The Battle Of New Orleans' by Johnny Horton went to No.1 on both the Country and Pop charts in the US, where it will stay for two months. The song was originally a poem written by high school teacher James Morriss in 1936, which he put to the music of an old fiddle tune known as 'The Eighth Of January'. Horton later won a Grammy Award for the song.
1961 - Elvis Presley
Elvis Presley was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Surrender', his eighth UK No.1. The song was based on the 1911 Italian song, 'Return To Sorrento.'
1963 - Lesley Gore
Lesley Gore started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with the Quincy Jones (then a staff producer for Mercury Records) produced 'It's My Party', a No.9 hit in the UK. Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin scored a UK No.1 in 1981 with their version of the song.
1964 - The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones were met by over 500 fans as they arrived on BA flight 505 at Kennedy Airport for their debut US tour. The Stones held a press conference and then guested on the prestigious "5th Beatle", DJ Murray The K's radio show. The first date took place on 5th June in San Bernardino, California.
1967 - David Bowie
David Bowie released his self titled debut studio album. Two singles were released from the album, 'Rubber Band' and 'The Laughing Gnome'. The album's failure cost Bowie his record contract with Deram Records who dropped him in April 1968.
1968 - Simon and Garfunkel
Simon And Garfunkel went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Mrs Robinson'. Featured in the Dustin Hoffman and Ann Bancroft film 'The Graduate', the song earned the duo a Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1969.
1969 - John Lennon
The Plastic Ono Band recorded 'Give Peace A Chance' during a 'bed-in' at the Hotel La Reine in Montreal, Canada. Producer Phil Spector, poet Allan Ginsberg and writer Timothy Leary all sang on the song.
- Elvis Presley
The two-room shack in Tupelo, Mississippi, where Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935 was opened to the public as a tourist attraction.
1972 - The Eagles
The Eagles released their debut studio album. The album was an immediate success and produced three top 40 singles 'Take It Easy', 'Witchy Woman' and 'Peaceful Easy Feeling'.
1975 - The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones kicked off their biggest ever US tour at Louisiana State University. The tour would take in 45 shows in 26 cities. Guitarist Ronnie Wood joined The Stones on tour for the first time, replacing Mick Taylor.
1991 - David Ruffin
American soul singer David Ruffin died of a drug overdose. After taking a large amount of cocaine Ruffin passed out, a friend drove him to a hospital in Philadelphia, where he later died. With The Temptations, had the 1971 US No.1 & UK No. 8 single 'Just My Imagination' and 'My Girl' (which Ruffin sang lead vocals). Solo, (1975 US No.9 & UK No.10 single 'Walk Away From Love').
2017 - Jerry Garcia
The sale of Jerry Garcia's favourite guitar, Wolf, raised millions of dollars for a civil rights group when an auction of the custom-made guitar fetched a total of $3.2m (£2.5m). It was bought at a New York charity concert by Brian Halligan, CEO of marketing group HubSpot and a lifelong fan of the band - or a "Deadhead". The money raised would go to the Southern Poverty Law Centre.

The Rolling Stones: Hidden History
The Rolling Stones: Hidden History
The Rolling Stones: Road to Altamount Directed by Tom O’Dell (2019) Film Review This documentary is about the riot at Altamount Speedway that ended the 1969 Rolling Stones tour. The filmmakers describe the Rolling Stones as the first anti-establishment rock band. Unlike other sixties groups (eg the Beatles), they focused on on rhythm and blues when most rock and roll was trying to conceal its…

Almost forgot this was happening later today. I’m off the ball a bit, excuse me. Let’s preview It Came From Beneath The Sink, shall we? In the main event, Dasher Hatfield, defending the Grand Championship on behalf of Mark Angelosetti (and since when do champions get to choose substitutes instead of just vacating the title?), takes on Travis Huckabee, who’s been holding onto his four points for quite a while now. Huckabee’s been looking rather like a chump as part of the new F.I.S.T. lineup, I’m sure he’s got plenty of pent-up aggression to unleash on the substitute champ. This’ll be interesting to see. (I’m pretty sure Dasher falls under the champion clause and won’t get any points for defenses no matter if he’s a sub or not.) In a preview of their upcoming Campeonatos de Parejas title contest, we have the Beast Warriors and the Closers each teaming with their respective thirds, Hype Rockwell and Juan Francisco de Coronado, in a Trios match. The Warriors broke the two year streak of lame duck Tag Gauntlet winners at King of Trios earlier this month, though Hype’s been...well, kinda lame himself. The Regime, on the other hand, had a massive fail as they were sent out in the first round. Maybe we’re finally seeing the fall of the formerly golden trio? (On a related note, I’m surprised JFDC hasn’t completely dropped the Closers yet. He’s had a habit of flouncing on partnerships that turned sour in the past.) One of those weirdly assembled Atomicos will see Officer Warren Barksdale (who hasn’t been seen in CHIKARA since Aniversario back in May), Mike Quackenbush, Solo Darling, and Green Ant team to take on Hallowicked, Merlok, Frantik, and Sonny DeFarge. Seriously, what goes through DoF Remsburg’s head when he puts some of these matches together? This comes off as random hodgepodge and will prob’ly be rather odd in execution. Speaking of Ants and science experiments, Green Ant’s Colony-mates Fire and Thief Ant will take on Frantik’s fellow clones Volgar and Callux. The Ants took out the Wheel in King of Trios this year (a loss which was squarely blamed on Frantik), so Volgar and Callux will more than likely be out fof revenge. In something that took way too damn long to happen, Blanche Babish FINALLY teams with Jeremy Leary and Lucas Calhoun to take on the Nouveau Aesthetic. Honestly, we could’ve skipped the Brett Michael David interlude and just had that team happen from the getgo. Boomer Hatfield is in singles competition once more! Fortunately, it’s not a weirdly mismatched contest against someone much bigger than he is, but I wouldn’t underestimate the Whisper, either. Dude’s crafty. He’s also starting to recover from the tremendous nerfing he received courtesy of Ophidian, sooooo... Finally, MICK MORETTI DEFENDS HIS TWO POINTS! I’m pleased to hear that. Any time I can take someone off the inactive lists is a good time for me. Rory Gulak (who hasn’t been seen in CHIKARA since the JKI back in June) is drifting back in to take him on.

Mick Moretti made it to the Finals of this year’s King of Trios tournament, ultimately losing to the Colony. However, last Spring, Moreti made a two month visit to CHIKARA which resulted in him earning two points. Over a year later, Moretti will use his momentum gained from the King of Trios to go for the coveted third point which would earn him a Grand Championship opportunity! On September 22nd, he’ll be across the ring from Rory Gulak, who has not been seen since losing in the first round of the JKI in June. Will Moretti be able to capitalize on his victories from last Spring, or will Gulak end his championship hopes and dreams?
“It Came From Beneath The Sink!” - Saturday, September 22nd - Philadelphia, PA

Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, Timothy Leary, Jimi Hendrix
(Mick Jagger already answered)
Jim Morrison: Do you have a hope/fantasy that would both be your most twisted nightmare and your sparkling dream come true if it happened?idk not really?? literally any hope I have is really mundane tbh
Timothy Leary: What are some of the greatest epiphanies you’ve ever had?honestly, the one that affected my life the most was when I realised that I just need to live in and enjoy the moment, sometimes. that was last July when I was at a festival with my friends, and I remember just losing myself in the moment, realising how much I love these people, and how I should just enjoy that time, without stressing about anything I can’t control
Jimmi Hendrix: Favorite outfit in your closet and what does it say about you?my favourite EVER outfit is my black crochet bralette thing, my rag skirt, net tights, and doc martens - my ‘festival’ clothes!! I think it shows that I’m a person who likes having fun, and cares very little about what people think about me and my appearance (which is something I worked v hard on)
thank you!!

John Potash. Drugs as Weapons Against US
Evidence supports that the CIA manipulated musicians and activists to promote drugs for social control, particularly targeting those involved in the Civil Rights and anti-war movements. Resistance was often met with deadly targeting.
DVD 120 min.
“The new book, Drugs as Weapons Against Us: The CIA's Murderous Targeting of SDS, Panthers, Hendrix, Lennon, Cobain, Tupac, and Other Leftists tells the story of how undercover U.S. Intelligence agents used drugs to target leftist leaders from SDS to the Black Panthers, Young Lords, and the Occupy Movement. It also tells how they particularly targeted leftist musicians, including John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, and Tupac Shakur to promote drugs while later murdering them when they started sobering up and taking on more leftist activism. The book further uncovers the evidence that Intelligence agents dosed Paul Robeson with LSD, gave Mick Jagger his first hit of acid, hooked Janis Joplin on amphetamines, as well as manipulating Elvis Presley, Eminem, the Wu Tang Clan, and others. John L. Potash is also the author of The FBI War on Tupac Shakur and Black Leaders. His work has been published in the Baltimore Chronicle, the City Paper, Covert Action Quarterly, Rock Creek Free Press, and Z magazine. This oligarchy helped fund the Nazi regime and then saved thousands of Nazis to work with the Central Intelligence Agency. CIA operations such as MK-Ultra pushed LSD and other drugs on leftist leaders and left-leaning populations at home and abroad.
Here's what we talk about in this segment. • U.S. Intelligence has been the largest LSD trafficker in the world • MK-Ultra had a ‘hit list’ of leftist leaders to dose with LSD (acid) • Several top MK-Ultra agents attended the Kesey/Grateful Dead ‘Acid Tests’ and Tim Leary’s Millbrook acid estate, both situated near hotbeds of leftist activism • Kennedys, MLK and Malcolm assassinated opposing Vietnam War, top opium area   • MK-Ultra undercover agents pushed acid on musicians • The Beatles, John Lennon and George Harrison, were dosed by Harrison’s dentist for their first acid trips before Harrison even knew what LSD was • Attorney & legal reporter concluded 7-yr study saying CIA murdered Lennon • An FBI agent gave antiwar Rolling Stone Mick Jagger his first hit of acid, and arrest • Leading antiwar SDS chapter, Columbia, banned acid until dosed by FBI agents • Jimi Hendrix’s manager Mike Jeffrey had worked for MI6, admitted killing Hendrix • Janis Joplin died of “hotshot” pure heroin just before first antiwar concerts • CIA/FBI used drugs to target Panthers: Huey Newton, Fred Hampton, Afeni Shakur • Nazis aided CIA & cocaine drug lords in genocide of Latin American leftists • Kurt Cobain wanted anarchist essays on 30 million-selling Nevermind covers • Police supervisor told officers not to investigate Cobain’s death as a murder • Police detective defied supervisor and was first Seattle cop murdered in 7 years • Tupac & ex-Panthers gang conversion movement cost billions in laundered drug $ • Police detective said supervisor called cops who killed Tupac “covert agents” • Police used drugs to target Occupy activists and the FBI hid plans to murder them

One LA Community Where Folk And Rock Converged
Echo in the Canyon “A new documentary called Echo in the Canyon tells the story of the place and the people and brings in contemporary musicians influenced by the music of Laurel Canyon.“
Tumblr media
Echo In The Canyon celebrates the explosion of popular music that came out of LA’s Laurel Canyon in the mid-60s as folk went electric and The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield and The Mamas and the Papas gave birth to the California Sound.  It was a moment (1965 to 1967) when bands came to LA to emulate The Beatles and Laurel Canyon emerged as a hotbed of creativity and collaboration for a new generation of musicians who would soon put an indelible stamp on the history of American popular music.  Featuring Jakob Dylan, the film explores the Laurel Canyon scene via never-before-heard personal details behind the bands and their songs and how that music continues to inspire today.  Echo in the Canyon contains candid conversations and performances with Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys), Michelle Phillips (Mamas & the Papas), Stephen Stills (Buffalo Springfield), David Crosby (The Byrds), Roger McGuinn (The Byrds) their contemporaries Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Graham Nash and slightly younger followers Jackson Browne and Tom Petty (in his last film interview) as well as contemporary musicians influenced by their music such as Beck, Fiona Apple, Cat Power, Regina Spektor and Norah Jones.

NEW … FROM ANITA KUMAR … THE PRESS SECY SEARCH:After press secretary Sarah Sanders announced her departure Thursday, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney’s office calledSTEVE CORTES,a President Donald Trump ally and frequent TV surrogate, to talk to him about the job, according to a source familiar with the situation.
CORTES,who served on Trump’s Hispanic Advisory Council during the 2016 campaign and is now serving on Trump’s 2020 reelection advisory committee, has been considered for White House communications posts before. He’ll visit the White House next week. Reached for comment today, Cortes declined to comment. The White House did not immediately return a message.

TALKER … WSJ: “Trump’s 2020 Re-Election Campaign Wants Order and Discipline, Down to Font Sizes,”by Mike Bender, Rebecca Ballhaus and Alex Leary: “President Trump’s path to a second term starts not in Florida, Pennsylvania or Wisconsin, but in the pages of a corporate-style branding book developed inside a spacious and well-equipped campaign office.
“The document, ‘Branding Guidelines for the Trump Presidential Campaign,’covers design minutiae such as font size, spacing and authorized colors— ‘Trump Red’ and ‘Trump Blue’ for logos, and ‘Trump Gold’ for special occasions. It specifies which images of Mr. Trump to use to convey compassion, which to show strength and, in the case of a photo of the president pointing into the camera, when to let donors know they need to boost contributions.” WSJ

THE YOU-CAN’T-MAKE-ME PRESIDENCY — “Trump says he won’t fire Kellyanne Conway”:“On Friday, Trump fiercely defended Conway and criticized the Hatch Act, saying it unfairly muzzles officials. ‘It really sounds to me like a free-speech thing. It doesn’t sound fair,’ Trump said during an interview with ‘Fox & Friends.’
“‘No, I’m not going to fire her,I think she’s a tremendous person, tremendous spokesperson,’ Trump added. ‘They have tried to take away her speech and I think you’re entitled to free speech in the country.’” POLITICO

MORE FROM TRUMP’S FOX INTERVIEW — “Trump goes on Fox to clean up his foreign interference comments,”by Caitlin Oprysko: “Remarkably, Trump … asserted on Friday that he didn’t foresee that issue arising. ‘I don’t think anybody would present me with anything because they know how much I love the country,’ he said, despite well-documented attempts by Russian nationals to do just that during the 2016 election.
“‘Nobody’s gonna present me with anything bad,and No. 2, if I was — and of course, you have to look at it, because if you don’t look at it, you won’t know it’s bad, but, of course, you give it to the FBI or report it to attorney general or somebody like that,’ he argued. ‘But of course you do that — you couldn’t have that happen with our country, and everybody understands that and I thought it was made clear.’” POLITICO
— “Trump Claims ‘Night and Day’ Change on Border, Announces Czar,”by Bloomberg’s Josh Wingrove: “President Donald Trump claimed migration through the U.S. southern border has already slowed dramatically following a deal with the Mexican government, and that former Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan would return to his administration as ‘border czar.’” Bloomberg
— HUSBAND OF THE WEEK,viaPia Deshpande:“President Donald Trump on Friday likened his wife to the beloved former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, saying, ‘We have our own Jackie O, it’s called Melania, Melania T.’” POLITICO
— THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THISis that Jackie O was not Jackie O in the White House. She was Jackie Kennedy.

Susan Brooks, one of only 13 Republican women in the House as well as the head of GOP recruitment for 2020, found someone she could not convince to run: herself. The Carmel Republican will not seek a fifth term next year, she told USA TODAY. …
“For 2020, Democrats had put Brookson their ‘retirement watch list.’ They see her district, which includes the wealthy northern Indianapolis suburban areas, as potentially flippable as Republican support has eroded in some suburban areas under President Donald Trump.” Indy Star
— IN THE LAST WEEK OR SO …The NRCC got crosswise with Kevin McCarthy, the House Republican leader, contributing to the demise of a pay-raise negotiation … Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, the No. 3 House Republican, got into a behind-the-scenes fight with NRCC Chairman Tom Emmers. She told him people are starting to doubt he is up to the job … And now, the very person charged with convincing GOP candidates to run for Congress as the party seeks the majority is forgoing reelection.

THE INVESTIGATIONS …ABC: “President Donald Trump says it ‘doesn’t matter’ what former White House counsel Don McGahn told Mueller”:“President Donald Trump is directly disputing the account of a key witness in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible obstruction of justice … In an exclusive interview with ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos, Trump says McGahn ‘may have been confused’ when he told Mueller that Trump instructed him multiple times to have the acting attorney general remove the special counsel because of perceived conflicts of interest.
“‘The story on that very simply, No. 1,I was never going to fire Mueller. I never suggested firing Mueller,’ Trump told Stephanopoulos. But when Stephanopoulos pushed back and referenced McGahn’s testimony, Trump was defiant. ‘I don’t care what [McGahn] says, it doesn’t matter,’ Trump said.
“‘Why would [McGahn] lie under oath?’Stephanopoulos later asked. ‘Because he wanted to make himself look like a good lawyer,’ Trump said. ‘Or he believed it because I would constantly tell anybody that would listen — including you, including the media — that Robert Mueller was conflicted. Robert Mueller had a total conflict of interest.’ ‘And has to go?’ Stephanopoulos followed up. ‘I didn’t say that,’ Trump insisted.”With video:ABC

BEHIND THE SCENES — “The Harriet Tubman $20 Bill Was Far Along Before Mnuchin Delayed Work,”by NYT’s Alan Rappeport:“An image of a new $20 bill, produced by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and obtained by The New York Times from a former Treasury Department official, depicts Tubman in a dark coat with a wide collar and a white scarf. …
“A current employee of the bureau, who asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter, personally viewed a metal engraving plate and a digital image of a Tubman $20 bill while it was being reviewed by engravers and Secret Service officials as recently as May 2018. This person said that the design appeared to be far along in the process. …
“But the Treasury Department, which oversees the engraving bureau, decided that a new $20 bill would not be made public next year. Current and former department officials say [Secretary Steven] Mnuchin chose the delay to avoid the possibility that Mr. Trump would cancel the plan outright and create even more controversy.”With picture:NYT

VALLEY TALK — NANCY SCOLA: “How a liberal think tank is driving Democrats on reining in tech”:“[T]he Open Markets Institute has become one of the most influential drivers of Democratic politics in the fight to rein in Facebook, Amazon and Google … Despite its small size — 15 or so employees operating out of a shared WeWork space in downtown D.C. — Open Markets is exercising outsized influence these days, helping to shape Washington’s intensifying scrutiny of giant tech companies and their vast influence on American society. And the apex example of its influence is its relationship with [Elizabeth] Warren.
“Open Markets has its critics, among them pro-business organizations that say the group offers few fresh ideas and scorns honest debate. And its leaders have developed a reputation for pugnacious rhetoric, responding aggressively to legislative proposals, news coverage or analysis deemed insufficiently tough on the tech companies. … Beyond Warren, the group has established a sprawling network of ideologically like-minded people in Washington and across the country.” POLITICO
— WSJ’S RICH RUBIN: “Does Amazon Really Pay No Taxes? Here’s the Complicated Answer”:“Democratic presidential candidates have seized on reports that Amazon.com Inc. paid no 2018 federal taxes as they press for changes in the tax system.
“A closer look at the internet giant’s tax disclosuresover several years paints a more complicated picture: Amazon has paid income taxes somewhere, albeit at a low rate, likely helped by deductions and incentives related to investment, research and employee compensation.” WSJ

— “Ivanka Trump Made $4 Million From President’s Washington Hotel,”by Bloomberg’s Bill Allison: “Together, Trump and husband Jared Kushner earned between $28.8 million and $135.1 million in outside income while working as unpaid senior advisers to her father, President Donald Trump, their disclosures, which covers 2018, show.” Bloomberg

Congress created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in 1933 to restore public confidence in the nation’s banking system. The FDIC insures deposits at the nation’s banks and savings associations, 5,256 as of September 30, 2019. It promotes the safety and soundness of these institutions by identifying, monitoring and addressing risks to which they are exposed. King of Trios weekend has concluded. Night Three under the cut.
Match #1: King of Trios Semifinal #1 Raiders of the Beyond vs. the ResistANTce...well... After the cowardly attack by the Raiders the previous evening, Fire Ant was not present when the match started, but arrived about six minutes in. He got his revenge quickly, downing Chris Dickinson with a Beach Break to end the match at just after eight minutes. Post-match, he joined Thief and Green in the March before they were helped to the back, leaving him standing solo. WINNERS: The ResistANTce Match #2: King of Trios Semifinal #2 Tokyo Joshi Freedom Fighters vs. the Ancient Order of Nations I know there are some people who get a little touchy when it comes to Joshi talent in KoT, stemming from the Sendai Girls winning back in 2016. Cancel your visits to the Angry Dome, folks! This was said to be a really strong match with callbacks to previous matches, and Adam Hoffman secured a berth in the finals for the Ancient Order by pinning Shoko Nakajima after the Ant Hill in nearly eleven and a half minutes. WINNERS: The Ancient Order of Nations Match #3: Singles Contest The Whisper vs. Carlos Romo Decent-sounding match at eight and a half minutes. Whisper put away his opponent with what’s been described as a one-armed Vertebreaker setup into a face first over the back slam. As even he admits that this is a pretty long description, he’s since clarified that this is called the Aftermath. WINNER: The Whisper (1 point) Match #4: Tag Gauntlet 4a: Solo Darling and Aja Perera vs. Jessica Troy and Shazza McKenzie Solo tapped out Troy with the SharpStinger. Count of nine and a half minutes since gauntlet began. ELIMINATED: Jessica Troy and Shazza McKenzie 4b: Solo Darling and Aja Perera (1 point) vs. Volgar and Callux Ooh, bad draw for the mighty ones. Spinning Samoan drop from Volgar on Perera sends them out. Count of just over thirteen minutes since the gauntlet began. ELIMINATED: Solo Darling and Aja Perera, point lost 4c: Volgar and Callux (1 point) vs. Dez Peloton Another spinning Samoan drop sends the bikers out of the hunt. Count of just over seventeen minutes since gauntlet began. ELIMINATED: Dez Peloton 4d: Volgar and Callux (2 points) vs. Blanche Babish and Jeremy Leary Immediate brawl! Leary scored what was a shock pin to the fans with a crucifix on Callux. Count of nineteen and a half minutes since gauntlet began. ELIMINATED: Volgar and Callux, points lost 4e: Blanche Babish and Jeremy Leary (1 point) vs. Cornelius Crummels and Sonny DeFarge After the fairly quick eliminations, we get something of a longer stretch here. Crummels sent their opponents packing after a super monkey flip on Leary. Count of twenty five and a half minutes since gauntlet began. ELIMINATED: Blanche Babish and Jeremy Leary, point lost 4f: Cornelius Crummels and Sonny DeFarge (1 point) vs. Thunderfrog and Wildcat Hammer shenanigans! Wildcat scored the pin for his team after the legdrop variant of the Sidewinder. Count of almost thirty one minutes since gauntlet began. ELIMINATED: Cornelius Crummels and Sonny DeFarge, point lost 4g: Thunderfrog and Wildcat (1 point) vs. The Nouveau Aesthetic w/BLANK (1 point) The Nouveau Aesthetic come into this with a previously-won point. After Thunderfrog prevented interference by throwing his hammer to BLANK, Ursa Minor instead relied on Still Life’s assistance to roll up and pin the Frog. Count of almost thirty six minutes since gauntlet began. ELIMINATED: Thunderfrog and Wildcat, point lost 4h: The Nouveau Aesthetic (2 points) vs. the Beast Warriors (1 point)
The Beast Warriors also enter this with a previously won point. BLANK was still stuck under Thunderfrog’s hammer, so he was no help to his creations. Boar pinned Still Life after a double chokeslam. Count of almost thirty nine minutes since gauntlet began. ELIMINATED: The Nouveau Aesthetic, point lost, have left the standings 4i: The Beast Warriors (2 points) vs. Hallowicked and Frightmare This should cheer up folks who weren’t pleased that Hallowicked and Frightmare sat out the tournament this year. A super chokeslam followed by a splash from the Boar onto Frightmare finished the gauntlet at fourty four and a half minutes. ELIMINATED: Hallowicked and Frightmare WINNERS: The Beast Warriors (3 points) BLANK was still stuck under the hammer. Hopefully Thunderfrog came back for his property, or else he’s still there. Match #5: Singles Contest Mike Quackenbush vs. Madison Eagles This sounds like a pretty all-out contest. Eagles smartly kept working on Quackenbush’s knee throughout the match, and this worked out in her favor after he had an ill-timed moment of hubris at the end, doing a rather showy moonsault and aggravating said knee. He then promptly fell prey to an STF in nearly sixteen and a half minutes. WINNER: Madison Eagles (1 point) Match #6: Rey de Voladores Final (no points on the line) A-Kid vs. Air Wolf Described as a pretty strong finish to the tournament. Air Wolf secured the crown in just over ten minutes, pinning A-Kid after an underhook suplex from the top. WINNER and 2018 REY DE VOLADORES: Air Wolf Match #7: King of Trios Final The ResistANTce vs. the Ancient Order of Nations After just shy of fifteen minutes worth of action, the ResistANTce succeeded in becoming the first CHIKARA-based KoT winners since the Devastation Corporation in 2014, with Green Ant submitting Mick Moretti with the CHIKARA Special. Post-match, Worker Ant came down to celebrate with everyone, and Fire stopped Preston Blathers from announcing them as the ResistANTce, calling the assembled group what they should be known as: the Colony. WINNERS and 2018 KING OF TRIOS: The Colony I can’t quite call it a complaint, but I have one single issue with how this went down: it should’ve been against the F.I.S.T. Order. I mean, Touchdown’s injury prob’ly forced a reshuffling of the tournament as a whole, but really, why pass up the opportunity to re-establish the Colony by having them beat the current incarnation of the group that just might be their biggest rivals in the finals? Would’ve given the moment a lot more emotional oomph, IMO. Good feel-good moment, though, and this should cheer up those who weren’t happy about the string of non-CHIKARA teams winning.

Only two spots remain in the Infinite Gauntlet! Joining the previously announced competitors are Cajun Crawdad, who will be entering his second Infinite Gauntlet, and the debuting Rory Gulak! Gulak is the younger brother of Wrestle Factory Graduate Drew Gulak, and Rory himself is a Wrestle Factory graduate as well. Rory’s path as a professional wrestler brought him to CZW where he competed as Rory Mondo, as a tribute to Nick Mondo, then tagged with Drew in a team known as The Amazing Gulaks. Finally, Rory will make his debut in CHIKARA after training at the Wrestle Factory (and now, helping to train people) many years later.
