FuckShit
from Mid90s 2018
I recently watched Jonah Hill's Mid 90s movie on Netflix and that's when I became aware of a boy named FuckShit. The guy with his lion's mane appealed from the first moment. Well, this is my fanart of the movie Mid90s

mid90s 2018
In mid90s, Stevie is a sweet 13-year-old about to explode. His mom is loving and attentive, but a little too forthcoming about her romantic life. His big brother is a taciturn and violent bully. So Stevie searches his working-class Los Angeles suburb for somewhere to belong. He finds it at the Motor Avenue skate shop.

I know some of these are a little basic but I tried to have a strong mix of well-known and lesser plus romance, comedy, psychological thrillers, cheesy etc. Its very broad so there’s something for everyone and hopefully something new for someone.

Romeo and Juliet (1968)

Mid90s (2018)
directed by Jonah Hill
cinematography by Christoper Blauvelt
A few years ago I did a presentation on Romeo and Juliet in which I had to compare its themes with contemporary issues. One of the things I discussed was the derogatory way that the play's young men talk about women. For example, the play opens with jokes about rape, and Mercutio uses his wit to belittle women regardless of whether or not they are in the scene with him.
I compared this with dialogue in Jonah Hill's film Mid90s (2018). Hill defended the homophobic and misogynistic language used in his film for its authenticity in portraying the way that actual adolescent boys speak, calling toxic masculinity part of the “connective tissue” that makes them feel part of an exclusive group. He said, "...it was done so intentionally to hold a mirror up to how people in this generation grew up, and the changes we're having to make, and the wrong lessons we've learned. To me, they speak so aggressively about women and gay people, ...that is how it was, and I thought it would be way more disrespectful to change history than to show it just as it was, and let the audience see how ugly it feels."
Anyway, the comparison was mainly just an excuse to juxapose these stills because anytime I see a group of boys sitting on steps it reminds me of Montacrew.
