Project Necromancer
Alright, I think we all get the gist of what's going on with Project Necromancer, the cloning efforts on Tantiss, why Omega's blood is so important, and how it all ties in to the Mandoverse and Palpatine's return in the Rise of Skywalker. But, I wanted to make a bit of a reference post with posts I've seen going into detail on each aspect of this and also combining some screenshots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Necromancer is Palpatine's goal all along, to create endless bodies for himself that he can transfer his life force and Force sensitivity into, so that he never dies and can rule forever. And he is starting those ambitions in The Bad Batch. Unfortunately for him, transferring Force sensitivity successfully to another body long term is almost impossible, which has led to this same project, and the exact same efforts, STILL being just out of reach by the time of The Mandalorian, which is after he has supposedly been killed off by Vader in RoTJ.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, the specimens are not actually the clones. The clones are the receivers, the experiments. The donors are yet to be revealed, but I would bet a lot of money that they are using the bodies of the Jedi killed in Order 66 (maybe some captured younglings as well--potentially Grogu?) As the M-count donors. This seems to be confirmed by the similar amber pods seen in the Inquisitorius in Kenobi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, they are obviously having difficulty, and we know that Nala Se has sworn that this might be impossible, mostly to protect Omega, who as we learn, has already successfully (accidentally or on purpose we don't know yet) shown to have this capability to receive midichlorian-saturated blood without decay or complication.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, we know that Hemlock now knows that Omega is actually the key to this project. And we know that Palpatine does eventually succeed in cloning himself. However, what happens in between now and then? Something is going to happen this season that sets back this project, or Palpatine would have completed it long before the Original Trilogy, AND they wouldn't be scrounging for scraps and trying to recreate the results by hunting down Grogu in The Mandalorian, a full 25 years after TBB. (Is Pershing already involved in this effort? When and why did Pershing get caught up in Moff Gideon's schemes, and how did those branch off from Palpatine's efforts?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, in Rogue One, Jyn Erso mentions a Mark Omega Imperial project that was housed alongside Project Stardust (which was begun around the same time as TBB), and Krennic has appeared in TBB and is already working for the Empire. Is it possible that Omega's name is the aspect of the project being referenced here? If so, is she captured again and experimented on? Will her blood end up being used to help further Palpatine's goals? And how much will the clones be able to succeed and push back this project by the end of the season?

It's ALMOST funny that this entire finale season of TBB is hyperfocused on "M-counts" and how this is inevitably going to lead to the revelation that Omega is in fact Force sensitive SPECIFICALLY DUE TO HER MIDICHLORIAN COUNT BEING HIGH, because it flies in the face of EVERYTHING that Filoni tried to emphasize in the Ahsoka show about how everyone has the Force if they just try hard enough.
Because like... what would be the point of making a big deal out of Omega having an M-count that meant something if literally anybody could access the Force? What would be the point of Palpatine specifically hunting down people who have high M-counts in order to guarantee a Force sensitive clone if it didn't MATTER and he could enter literally any cloned body and just will himself into Force sensitivity again?
This ENTIRE PLOTLINE depends on midichlorian counts MEANING SOMETHING even though Filoni just spent an entire show trying to send the message that midichlorians were stupid and didn't matter at all.
It's hilarious that they're expending SO MUCH EFFORT in these shows to try to explain why Palpatine survived in the Sequels and it all boils down to "he spent years having people working on creating a Force sensitive clone of himself." But that explanation relies on the idea that being Force sensitive isn't something that just anybody can have if they try hard enough, and it requires years of delicate experimentation to figure out how to intentionally create someone with the genetic ability to use the Force. So the Ahsoka show invested like 50% of its runtime trying to explain why the New Republic failed to stop the First Order, but then it managed to undo two shows' worth of explanation for why Palpatine was able to survive in the next breath.
TBB and the Mandoverse are really following in the Sequel Trilogy's footprints by seemingly trying to create one cohesive story but all of the different creators involved only want to tell THEIR Star Wars story and so they keep contradicting each other instead.

Guys…there’s still one major cameo from the Bad Batch season 3 trailer that has still yet to make an appearance…
Tumblr media
The title for 3x09 is “The Harbinger,” the definition being “a person or thing that shows that something is going to happen soon, especially something bad.”
Ventress found Omega with no trouble (most likely with the Force, but still) and warned the batch that they needed to leave Pabu because they weren’t safe there.
This is obviously foreshadowing that someone is going to attempt to bring Omega back to Hemlock as an M-count target.
If there’s one bounty hunter in the whole galaxy audacious enough to attempt this job (and be successful) it’s Cad Bane.
It wouldn’t be the first time he stole force sensitive children for Palpatine…
Tumblr media
It wouldn’t even the first time he would be kidnapping Omega either…
Tumblr media
Force sensitive children seem to be his specialty. I’d bet on him being the one.
If you have your doubts about how dangerous he is, remember that he was the one that broke Ziro the Hutt out of prison, held the Galactic Senate and Anakin Skywalker hostage, broke into the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to steal a Holocron, held Ahsoka hostage and manipulated Anakin into opening and giving him the Holocron to save her life, kidnapped force sensitive children for Palpatine’s evil experiments and brought them to Mustafar, fought Obiwan Kenobi with Quinlan Vos’ lightsaber, and orchestrated a prison break and escaped through the morgue.
Cad Bane does not fuck around people!! He is dangerous, he’s experienced, and the groundwork has been laid. Be scared!

Dude, Anakin really said " you underestimate my power" to Obi wan, who killed a sith once and then, it became his PhD thesis, " Chancellor Palpatine, Sith lords are our speciality" (unaware that he was surrounded by 3 of those at the same time in that room).
Obi wan always underestimates his opponents power and that's because he puts emphasis on the skill over raw power, right over wrong. He, a Jedi with a moderate amount of midichlorians, *has to* underestimate his opponents powers so he can fight them and that's what makes him a great warrior.
He explicitly told Anakin " I will do what I must" not " I will do what I can".

Endlessly amused at how Mandalorian and Bad Batch are the only Star Wars media since TPM to mention midichlorians and they won’t even use the word. “M-count.” Like they need to say midichlorians without saying midichlorians and trust that everyone watching knows what it means.

THE BAD BATCH S3 THE HARBRINGER (SPOILERS)
VENTRESS!!! The queen has returned. Loved her.
Also the Tech mention made me squeal! but then i cried
This entire episode was a tsunami of nostalgia and ecstasy and feels!!! we got ventress and a tech mention and THE FREAKING POSSIBILITY OF A FORCE-SENSITIVE OMEGA???
Ventress said she isn’t, but… she lied. They wouldn’t give us “Hey, Omega might be force sensitive” for no reason, and I really, really don’t want her to be for many reasons.
Crosshair being all protective of Omega this episode was adorable, and on a completely different tangent, the fight between the Batch and Ventress had me on the edge of my seat SQUEALING.
I loved how they showed even though the Jedi had an affinity for nature and beauty in the Force, Ventress of all people could summon those glowing rays.
Also, the yellow lightsabers?? I’m relatively sure that the yellow hue is from kinda healing the crystals to be neautral? Similar to the white crystals of Ashoka’s lightsabers?
i could be very wrong tho.
I’ll be back next Wednesday xx

Thinking about Omega and Project Necromancer.
- if project necromancer eventually creates Rey's father (Dathan?)
- and Rey's father is a strandcast clone using Palpatine's DNA mixed with other genes to create a desired result (aka force sensitivity)
- and Omega's blood has the right Midichlorian binder or whatever
- some of the strandcast DNA must have come from Omega
- therefore, Omega is Rey's grandmother.

THE BAD BATCH SEASON 3 SPOILERS!
Tumblr media
WHAT'S AN M-COUNT???
Couldn't they have just asked AZI?
He worked on Kamino. And helped in medical with the Kaminoans.
And why didn't Palpatine just have regular medical staff (who had no idea about what was going on) take blood samples from Jedi (when they were alive) and call it a "medical wellness check"? He could have still done this with the clones alongside their Jedi generals during the war. And it would have been earlier before the Fett genetic material became weakened.
Or a Jedi is seriously injured on a Separatist Battlefield, given pain meds to sleep, and samples taken while under sedation/medical care. Then tested, preserved/frozen for later use?
Maybe it's just me? Thinking too hard about it???

Quick additional point about "engaging with the material" vs "engaging with the narrative". Ahem:
"Midi-chlorians?!"
So a while ago, Pablo Hidalgo stated his headcanon about the Jedi and the Prequels on Twitter. Here's what he said in the midi-chlorians section.
Tumblr media
(which is cool, to each his own headcanon)
And also, he wasn't all alone in having this interpretation of the midi-chlorians anyway, it's a pretty popular read.
Tumblr media
Hell, it's a more charitable approach than other SW creators had:
Tumblr media
Couple of years ago, I sent Hidalgo a reply to another tweet he wrote and was lucky enough to get an answer:
Tumblr media
He confirms that the midi-chlorians are not intended to come across as a soulless way to look at potential (which tracks; again, he was only stating his headcanon, years prior)... but the second half of that response is what interests me.
Because if we're talking about the 2000s and early 2010s, when hating the Prequels was so popular and the options before you were:
Make a video-critique/op ed/comment on a forum/documentary about "why the Prequels suck and George Lucas raped my childhood!" ...
... or 2) think of a headcanon that makes the movies bearable to you.
I think - at that time - the latter one was a much more praise-worthy approach.
Instead of ranting about "midi-chlorians are shit, you don't need to explain the Force!" some people, namely Star Wars creators at the time, picked up the baton and thought "okay, so now we've got midi-chlorians... how do I engage with this?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back then, asking these fans & writers to take it a step further and engage not just with the material but with the narrative, would've been too much to ask.
They were already giving George Lucas a lot of rope as it was.
But now we're in the 2020s, the kids who grew up with the Prequels are adults and George is used as "word of God", constantly brought up to make authority arguments by both fans and creators.
So I think it's only consistent that, in addition to his material, we now begin to engage with his narrative. We should take that next step.
And if you look at what he had to say about midi-chlorians...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
... it doesn't look like they're "narratively-designed to be soulless".
They're a metaphor for symbiosis, they're a different outlook on why the Force is so cool and how all-encompassing it is, etc.
And if we're willing to do that re: midi-chlorians, maybe we should start doing the same with the Jedi.
Alternatively: we all say "death of the author" and agree to stop invoking Lucas to legitimize our productions or our headcanons and win our debates.

I was reminded that today is Star Wars Day, so if you didn't know, according to the Evangelion manga, Eva pilots, like Jedi, have a midichlorian count.

THE BAD BATCH SEASON 3 SPOILERS
LEGIT DO NOT READ IF YOU DONT WANT SPOILERS
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
ok so for some reason (that could be my lack of reading) i haven’t seen people online mentioning the “M-Count” which has to be “Midi-chlorian Count” AKA what jedi and force sensitives have a significantly higher number of than those who aren’t force sensitive.
basically this confirms the “Omega Force Sensitive” theory
Example from “The Phantom Menace”
“I need a midi-chlorian count."
"The reading's off the chart. Over 20,000. Even Master Yoda doesn't have a midi-chlorian count that high."
"No Jedi has.”
Example from the official wikipedia
“the purpose of examining blood was to calculate the number of midi-chlorians that resided within the living cells of a subject, and therefore, determine the natural strength of the connection between said subject and the Force”

These two locations/scenes have the same vibe. In the last episode, they spoke of combining their capabilities. These children are going to unleash some hell in the finale.
