2022/ my sona

#orbs art #doodles #hevent used ibis in awhile because its painful to hold my hand above my screen #but its ok for little doodles o ertop traditional stuff #i think i posted the sketch of this b4 #her colors arent strict. just general salmon-blue/green stuff #my head still hurts but i took some ibuprofen to help with it. hope it helps soon #is this eyestrain? im bad at telling bc my own eyestrain is rather inconsistent #the colors arent super bright or contrasting but i think the pink might be a bit bright so ill tag just in case #eyestrain #the pink was supposed to be more red. oh well #yeah actually the longer i look at this. the blue is pretty bright too #anywa. i love my little kitty bug thing. i think id like to draw her with a snail shell instead of wings sometime #maybe i could do both at the same time? that might be cute #maybe ill give her some angel wings and a halo sometime too. i love her. she is my sona but like. she feels a bit separate from myself #i might do a bit nicer on my computer. idk if i will though. i wanna draw her more to relax

Dogday!! Trying to figure out a way to send a Y/N in there to help him.

Rambles under the cut.

(I drew my sona in these cuz self-indulgent, but if I ever write anything it'll be a reader insert with little to no canon design.)

Design notes: Took some elements from his game model as well as his cartoon design. I think when we see him, he is emaciated and/or stretched out, the way CatNap is said to be able to stretch. Don't know if that's an ability all Smiling Critters have though. For now I'm saying it is SOMEWHAT but CatNap is the better at it by MILES. In any case, that's why he's not quite as lanky as he is in game, and is also a bit shorter.

I also he can be bipedal or quadrupedal, much like CatNap seems to be able to switch back and forth. A bit more animalistic than his cartoon counterpart, but part of that is just him not wanting to tower over the children and employees all the time, so drops down to all fours quite a bit.

The fur texture on his ears in the game cave him a floofy cocker spaniel look so I went with that instead of the less floofy ears he has in the cartoon and his original plushie.

The white pupils being absent when we see him I believe is a sign of how weak he is. When healthy, all the Bigger Bodies Smiling Critters have them, much like CatNap does.

Trying to actually keep his huge open-mouth smile at all times, unlike with my FNAF stuff where I give them more of an ability to emote. That said trying to get him to look angry or sad was a challenge. Sad I think worked okay but the one where I meant him to look angry he looks more cocky or smirky than mad. Tender moments are a bit harder too, as keeping that huge grin with more tender eyes results in him looking either drunk or horney or just like he's not taking the moment very seriously, haha.

And the story? Not sure yet, bouncing around a few ideas, though I don't think I'll have the reader and the player be the same person. Reader might be someone who came up in PlayCare alongside Dogday. Perhaps they knew each other as kids when Dogday was still human. Haven't decided how much of this Dogday remembers or at what point the reader realizes Dogday is their old friend who got "adopted".

Reader grows up the Playcare and is given a job once they're an adult. (Something something starting the brainwashing and normalization of bullshit early to make employees who are more willing to look the other way?)

Dogday somehow kept them hidden during the Hour of Joy and the reader's been living in the caves ever since. (The caves open up so much possibility for people being hidden in the factory. Much easier to say there's an unknown offshoot of a natural cave system than an unknown part of the factory.)

How are they staying fed? Uhhhh...cave mushrooms? Trips to the surface? Moss? Stale vending machine candy? I don't know yet.

Not sure how to pull a happy ending out of this horror but I'm trying. Maybe the reader convinces Dogday to leave after Ch 3 because he'd be too weak to help anyway or something? And uh...I'm just gonna pretend since he's kinda a plushie he can be sewn back together even though I'm PRETTY SURE canonically the inclusion of blood and guts makes that...not a thing.

Just remember guys...all winds blow away...eventually.

1. i usually do not get rid of my past ocs as i feel like ALL of my past characters are close at heart and tend to hold onto them forever BEHABEHWA

however i DO give them a makeover (aka new design/lore ect)

amy / kitty is a good example of this, she's my 2010 creepypasta phaze oc and sona back in the time

i find her lore/story to be....a bit too much, so compleatly overhauld it while keeping the design basicaly the same 😂

there was also a male kitty as well for her counteroart, but he's banished into the void due to me picking to keep the female kitty (they were basicaly the same character anyways so one had to go behshehw)

2. i honestly don't keep a specific element while designing characters, but i do look out to

- use more diverse shapes (so they won't feel all the same while im drawing them)

- if they can exist in my univserse and its lore

Howdy everypony! I'm one of the new mods, you can call me Mori!

I use He/Him and I'm transmasc + bisexual andddd my favorite ponies of the mane 6 are Fluttershy and Pinkie, though my heart truly lies with Luna. You know how it goes. My sona is named Astral Beryl and I'm hoping to become a geologist and/or voice actor, but for now I draw ponies because... Well I really love to! I hope they can help brighten your day!

Also as a note my art style is going to be... Wildly inconsistent and I apologize beforehand if certain pieces aren't as nice as others. Such is the way of art and wanting to try new things like drawing more consistently.

Since there’s a Bugsnax card game coming out (which I am so excited to play, June can’t get here quick enough), I made a card for my sona! Might do more once the game actually comes out, who knows :p

I actually came up with a grumpus deck for her as well!

• Aggroll Attack: Player can immediately eat Aggroll (no other snak) if it appears on the field without use of trap cards.

• Seconds Please! : Take the snak worth the least points and discard it, replace it with new snak.

• Coat Removal: Regain 2 action points. Next turn, gain 1 point boost to all trap cards. It goes away once turn is over.

• You Gonna Eat That? :Steal one person’s snak that they’ve caught, if any, but give them one trap card. If no snax are available to steal, increase a snax difficulty by 1 on the field.

• Guh: Choose the two highest point snax. They are now stunned.

• Outta My Way! : All players receive an injury for this round. You gain 1 action point back.

• Boiled Sheepe: You receive an injury for the next two turns, but ignore any snak status effects for this turn.

• This Time It’s Personal: The player to your left must give you two of their cards. In return, you must give one of yours.

A Date With Narry WINNERS

The "Date with Narry" event is now over!

Thank you so so so so much to everyone who participated! I didn't expect that there would be more than a handful of submissions, so seeing all of them as the event ends is amazing to me. I can't thank you all enough for participating if you did, whether by asks, or by liking the posts if they came across your dash.

And thank you to everyone new who found @mrthenarrator's blog thanks to this event!

breaking character as the mod of The Narrator's Blog for a bit: I'm so glad everyone was willing to interact with him as a character! I'm not an expert on RP, and this is the first-ever "event/competition" ive hosted, so this event taught me a lot both in hosting, as well as challenged me in terms of roleplay! Plus, thank you for letting me indulge my inner Narry by having him respond to your submissions. Getting to RP as him for the event was incredibly fun and rewarding, and seeing everyones submissions come in through the week was amazing and I loved getting to see all of them appear in the inbox (as well as seeing some of your reactions to his reactions! I do look thru the notes and rbs and i love seeing all your comments to narry's shenanigans) I hope that, even if you didn't win a drawing today, just know that all your submissions and contributions to the event hold a place in my heart, thank you all so so much for participating and I will be perpetually thanking you into the far future for letting me do a little silly event sdkjfgjhg. I hope I can set up more in the future, and hopefully, they won't be centred around getting narry a date /lh

hello boa!! great to hear from you!!

and omg nonono you're not being dumb or anything, i was pretty vague about this previously and only kinda mentioned it off-hand in tags. the idea behind the shipaganza is to help me explore some different dynamics (more or less romantic) with starstruck to see how i feel about shipping her as a whole, and so i was admittedly pretty nervous and wiffle-waffley about it overall.

but if it helps, i am allowing both canon suggestions and OC suggestions for the starstruck dee shipaganza! now that it's a full 'event' i should be more transparent, so here's a few rules!

🎀 any suggested characters must be adults in a suitable age bracket. this goes for OCs and canon characters. consider starstruck dee to be in the 25-35 age range; i think she could smooch into an older bracket, but i would not go younger than this. 🎀 when suggesting OCs, only the creator/owner of the oc can suggest that oc, unless you get clear permission from the creator. if an artist suggests a sona in particular, then for the same reasons as above, i explicitly need the artist to be an adult. 🎀 no nsfw at all. flirty characters are great. bullies are fun (something tonally similar to the marx prompt, for instance). but i have a hard enough time even making the orbs smooch non-platonically; anything else is clearly going to be out of my ballpark. 🎀 very very few of these prompts are going to be considered canon to starstruck's storyline, and i'll specify any that are (such as bandee's). this is even less likely with OCs, though i might be open to that in the future after the event. this event is just for fun and silliness! 🎀 when suggesting OCs, especially if i don't know you or your oc well, please please give me some info about your oc and why you think they'd work. like, would your oc make a move that starstruck fails to notice? are they accidentally dating? do they share an interest? is your oc a hopeless pining romantic, are they a charmer, are they a bully, so on and so fourth! a link to a reference is also good! try to remember starstruck's characterisation when suggesting as well; remember that it's very important that she doesn't get along great with most waddle dees. otherwise i might have a hard time responding to you! 🎀 also... please don't suggest your ocs just because you want me to draw them. i'll likely take more general/platonic oc interaction prompts in the future. please only suggest an oc for this event if you genuinely think you have a fun potential ship dynamic to explore. i am much more likely to draw canon character prompts and ocs from folks who have interacted with me regularly (such as yourself, boa). i'm fairly aware of my regular interactors and of course my mutuals, so i'll be able to tell if people are just popping up out of the woodwork trying to get free art out of me.

UNORCADOX

howdy, i'm mabel! it's the 3 year anniversary of unorcadox today, so i've prepared a decent bit of surprises. (and yes that means i started this blog in 2020, which is terrifying to think about.) i'll go into those new things under the cut, but first... check out the carrd linked in the header text of this post :3c

sooo soo so so so where on earth do i begin. uhh honestly let me just break down the new stuff first since i can talk about that more easily.

THE NEW LOOK! ok so like truth be told, i've been a faceless blog on purpose up until now. it wasn't until this summer where i actually liked how i looked or had any solid sense of my own aesthetic or what i wanted to look like. it also made it easier to protect against dysphoria and transphobes in the same breath, as no one could ever comment on any aspect of my appearance, or even the mere suggestion i even had one to begin with! but that all changes now, i'm going to actually have a presence on this blog, as it is MY blog and tbh i'm tired of being so faceless on here. that's why i've been doing more asks and non-edit posts recently, and those will increase in frequency. check out the carrd for more info, my sona's ref, and art credits for assets on here <3

mondays -> MUSIC MONDAYS! so it might come as a shock i'm actually a musician in addition to making stuff on here! i've promoted my music a couple of times by now, but nothing all that substantial. sooo, considering that, i'm going to be replacing monday oc posts with a music post! just a link to a song on my bandcamp and a little description about it. i don't really care if these perform particularly well, but i want to give people a chance to actually hear it without having to deep dive through my entire internet history to get it. i also will be releasing more soon-- whether via compilations of older work or new stuff altogether :3

MORE IN THE FUTURE! i have a couple other ideas up my sleeve, we'll see how they pan out but i wanna keep trying new possibilities on here. i think at this point i've proven my consistency, and it's about time i let myself have a little fun and explore my options. these will be announced individually but probably added here over time as this is the new pinned post lol.

ok so anyways, i do wanna have the mandatory sappy segment because of course i do. i want to say a couple of things but i'll split them into bullet points again bc yeah i do that.

this year has been really good for me and the blog, in most ways it's been the straight up best year of my life uncontested. not everything has gone perfectly, i had other plans that fell through, but hey that's just how life goes huh. at one point, i was easily projected to hit 20k by the end of the year, and now i'll be happy if i hit 17k lol. tumblr has not been that kind to my blog's growth this year and it's making me consider other options in the future, but everything's so scary rn i don't wanna commit to anything.

as for the blog itself, i've kinda been in a weird spot with it for a while. i've been scraping by on here intermittently for the entire year on and off, and i might have some ways to help keep me on top of the ball during the next year, but i also do wonder how long i can really keep doing this, and how long people will still like weirdcore and my work in particular. i've been considering branching out in terms of my presentation, or format, or style, but i feel incredibly weird about doing so.

in my personal life, this is the year i finally started transitioning and seeking treatment for my most pressing issues. i've finally started dating the love of my life, my best friend of 10 years, and despite some interpersonal turmoil all around me, i think i'm finally finding safe ground and knowing what i wanna do next. i don't really talk about it on here because i'm very private about it, but i've been kinda slowly becoming like a Real Adult Person this year. i didn't really have much of a chance to prior and i still am struggling a lot, but hey i know what i want now!

it's really silly to say but this blog still means a lot to me! it's seen me through the craziest times in my entire life, it's brought me so much perspective and knowledge and opportunities i wouldn't've had otherwise. i wake up every day and go on here and never stop feeling starstruck that people chose to follow me. i know tumblr success means nothing but to me it's the only community i've ever actually belonged to, so thank you all.

ok so like i really just don't have much else to say anymore, so i think i'll end it there! thank you all again, i can't wait for year 4 as it's going to definitely be a crazy one lol. let's hope it's a good one too!

it is so refreshing to see ppl be like normal and regular about other artists taking heavy inspiration 😐 way too many ppl start screaming and crying over it for some reason /gen

i understand why some people might! especially depending on visibility and audience, and level of heavy inspiration.

i know there was a point where ppl thought i was copying a popular artists character and i got so scared solely bc i feared people coming after me.

but i also understand bc I myself have taken heavy inspiration from others before, and also because I myself am not somebody who Sticks (or Stuck bc i dont do heavy focused style inspo stuff anymore, because, surprise! i grew and frankensteined it into my own work after i learned what i like!) with an emulated art style for long

(see: my post where I struggle naming inspirations bc my inspirations arent...extremely, consistently, visibly, immediately influential on my work.)

i like giving ppl the benefit of the doubt for that reason... I now also understand and recommend naming/mentioning the ppl who inspired you when you do so as it immediately sets that level of understanding! (like oh, its a style study/inspiration and not somebody plucking my hard work and planning to cause a scene abt it)

like even recently that person who was copying my art down to the ideas (literally redrew a personal smunker doodle comic about smthng that actually happened to me, as their sona), i decided not to intervene because well, they're young, not harming anyone or screwing me out of anything, there's a chance they learn what they need from my stuff and move on in a few months. that's how you Learn sometimes...i did the same when i was in high school, i grew and moved on art wise... no good would have come out of someone attacking me about it bc its... common !

i do like seeing how ppl are interpreted and inspired by my stuff because im curious, and have enjoyed what ive seen mentioning me directly ^_^ but ill still say the only mistake made in this specific case was getting caught ykwim? "do what you want but dont let me see it" (except i do wanna see it ykwim)

thinking about sunghoon, who happens to be the boy you have a major crush on; at first, you doubted the thumping of your heart to be some effect of ‘puppy love’, but now that you both have gotten closer over the months, it’s loud and clear that that’s, a hundred and one percent, not the case.

and to be frank, you’re not sure as to how he hasn’t realised this yet; you’d like to think that you’ve been really, painfully obvious— and that’s completely beyond your control, especially with all the adorable things that he does; he just keeps leaning over you to hear you better, cupping your face to take a fallen eyelash and patting your head every so often. i mean, who wouldn’t be flustered when under his caring gaze??? hahaha… precisely. but it’s completely normal to smile real hard when texting your friend, to gaze at a friend from afar because they just look so pretty and surreal, to… wish under every shooting star that a friend doesn’t notice your racing heart whilst hugging, to… blush at nearly every one of your friend’s cute gestures, to… uh feel all tingly around a friend. omg.

if he doesn’t want for you to completely crumble and melt right in front of him, then he should stop complimenting you nearly every hour of the day!! like stop casually telling me that i have pretty eyes, that this and that reminded you of me… it’s not healthy for my heart to continually thump so quickly, okay??

also, he just loves walking you back home, a cute, oblivious smile plastered on his stupidly cute face; it’s not that you dislike it, it’s that you fear when you might actually give into your inner temptations to hold his hand, because apparently he can’t keep it close to his side, and his fingers keep brushing against yours without a care in the world.

and you can’t exactly expect for one to not malfunction when their crush asks them what their ideal type is like; and so, when the few words left his lips, you began rambling… “oh y’know, it’d be good if he were this,” you said, raising your arm to indicate a height, “much taller than me. and has black hair and uh brown eyes. with a nice.. erm nose bridge. maybe it’d be nice if he were knowledgeable and smart and stuff. it’d be kinda cool if he had something he were passionate about, like a hobby or something… shows, uhm, passion! y’know??” that probably made zero sense, given your continuous mumbling and the insane amount of filler words, but that was what you’d blurted out to your crush, so maybe you can just live, laugh, love and forget that??

well, there was someone who hadn’t forgotten a word you said; in fact, they replayed in his head at all times. a head-ish taller that you? check. black hair and brown eyes? got those too. smart and knowledgeable? he’d like to think that that’s a check. a passion towards a hobby? well he goes ice skating on a regular basis if that counts?

and so, on the following day, you were definitely met with a surprise; “yn, look at me,” he says, bending slightly to meet your gaze. “don’t you think i look like the guy you described yesterday?” omg. you’re joking.
