So, now that you've seen "Take Me To Your Leader". What did you think of Canard's design compared to "The First Face-Off?"

Oddly enough, I've never directly compared the two. Never thought to, I guess. The only real differences I can note are his feathers seem darker, and his eyebrows are like, way more pronounced. If I'm missing something, feel free to clue me in.

(SPOILER WARNING FOR 30-YEAR-OLD CARTOON AHEAD)

Mostly I was thinking about how ghoulish it really is that the Saurians are using the illusion of a guy who's likely been dead for months as bait. Just... icky, you know?

(Edited to add that I should probably explain that I've watched this series like, dozens of times now, including several times recently. But at least I try not to watch the same episode on repeat, usually!)

I binged the entire show on YouTube the day it premiered and am now about to dump my thoughts about it on you all. Warning for spoilers below the cut, obviously.

• More focus on characterization! It’s funny and rather fitting that Duck is snooty AF. Love this high and mighty gremlin grandpa. He’s one of my favorite characters.

• The phone honestly sounded like she was trying to seduce Red Guy at first. I mean, I know that just being friendly to someone doesn’t mean you’re flirting with them, obviously, but her voice just gave me such an infatuated vibe for some reason.

• I thought Duck Guy was going to swallow the coin. He did not, in fact, swallow the coin.

• Everything Duck says is funny. “Attention freaks” and “they’re pretending they don’t respect me” are my favorite quotes of his so far.

• As a person who likes the sound of screaming, the screaming in this show is lovely.

• Speaking of screaming, Red Guy screams a bit in this show. 1.) I never thought I’d hear him scream and 2.) I think he happens to scream the perfect amount for someone in his situation.

• Duck’s coffin shenanigans were pretty funny. End of story.

• When you meet a business man, you must shake him by the hand! When you meet a family man, you must shake him by the hand! When you meet the choo-choo man, yoU MUST SHAKE HIM BY THE HA-! 🎶

• “There’s Four of Us” was even cuter than “There’s Three of Us”!

• The teacher cameos are nice. Crazy how the gang are so chill with them now, huh? Larry sounds different (maybe that’s his Sober Voice) and Steak Guy’s appearance genuinely startled me. No sketchbook, though. Wonder if we’ll see her again?

• ROY RETURNS AND WE HEAR HIM SPEAK. I don’t get why he ate the Freak Family, though.

• *When Duck Guy and Red Guy start fighting over who the dad is* Me: Ladies, please! You both can be the dad.

• Fr though, when Duck said he is the dad and Yellow is the pet, I deadass thought he was going to say that Red is the mum.

• Duck looks so fab in drag. ✨

• What’s with the Colin plant at the start of episode 4? Can Colin dispense seeds or computer chips that act as seeds or something?

• Colin said “I love you.” 🥰

• The gang fighting killed me. Yellow Guy really went at the other two with a CHAINSAW. Imagine being one of the teachers in the house when this was happening lmao. And I’m pretty sure Duck called either Yellow or Red a bastard as well.

• Also, is it just me, or are they generally much meaner to each other now? Maybe it’s because we didn’t get many interactions in the web series.

• In fact, how did they end up living together under one roof in the first place? They can’t even eat food together in peace.

• Let’s be honest here: Duck is probably going to do with that rock what he wanted to do to the Mayor’s prized bowling ball. “Private business”, ey? Also, my man is definitely down bad for that shredder.

• Those three legit drove a “corpse” through the wall and went on long ass ride with it. Would that be considered grand theft auto or kidnapping? Maybe both?

• Poor Red Guy. :( He just wants a happier life away from the teachers’ horrid lessons. :(

• The scene with the Time Child and Tony’s “They’re not here!” was pretty cool. What a time to leave the house, am I right?

• My least favorite teacher is Warren the worm/eagle. Sorry to those who like him, but the little motherfucker is insufferable in my (rat) eyes. He does need friends, though.

• “WHAT ABOUT MY SHREDDER?~” 🎶

• Come to think of it, all of Duck’s songs are straight fire. 🔥

• The whole “I like looking at you” scene was ✨Gay✨ and no one can tell me otherwise.

• Also, the “Why don’t you experiment on each other?” scene that came before that was sort of fruity as well. Duck Guy: 😏 “So, would you be keen-“ Red Guy: 😒🤚“You’re not to touch me.” I feel that most of the fandom slept on this moment.

• LESLEY!!! I wonder if she is aware of what Roy did?

• Something about this show gave me a sort of “off” feeling for some reason, but other than that, I enjoyed it. I hope we get another season.

Paz throws his melted cannon aside. He doesn't think. He only acts, his body moving on pure instinct.

Each round his armor takes gives his vode another second to escape - another minute to get back to the fleet - another hour to evacuate. Each Trooper he slays gives his son another year of time - time he knows he will not have. Time he had prayed to the gods for. Time his own father had been unable to give him all those years ago.

Sidestep. Duck. Punch.

Today is a day he has been preparing for his entire life, and he is calm. He is ready. He knows that he has done what every Mandalorian warrior is trained to do - rise up when the Mand'alor calls. Protect their Tribe. Fight until the last breath. He has honored his oath for his entire life. He has honored their ways, and that is all he can do.

Stab. Slash. Parry.

The last trooper falls. He has a brief moment of hope that he will see his son again. That he will see the seed he planted grow into a mighty tree. He hopes that he will see his Tribe grow strong. He hopes that he will see many more Mandalorians come to The Way.

When the Praetorian guards come, Paz knows he will not see the sunlight on his son's face. He is calm, and he is ready. He will not live out his old age basking in the shade of the mighty oak his son will become. He will not see his son put down his roots, and he will not see the warriors his son will raise. He will not see his people reunited as one.

But he will honor The Way until his last breath. He readies his blade. It and his faith in The Way are all all he has left. He is ready.

This is The Way.

Here´s a question i been wondering. Does Atreus get to tell Calliope about his mother? And if yes, what does she think about Laufey the Just.

Yes, he does tell Calliope a bit about Laufey! Within the story, Calliope has already formed a sort of bond/attachment with Atreus at this point, so hearing about his mother doesn't feel as conflicting as it might've been if she first heard of Faye upon learning that Kratos had another family away from Greece. Then Faye would probably feel more like a stranger, someone who stole away Calliope's father, y'know?

In fact, I think I'll show you the scene from my fic! It's early on in the story, with Atreus and Calliope having escaped the Underworld for the first time. They're now heading to Athens, and Calliope's dealing with some nightmares (she was crying earlier in this scene). She's also in the "Father abandoned and forgot about me" grieving stage of her feels journey ^^;; You can find it below the cut, if you're alright with spoilers! XDD

“Atreus?” she said after a moment. “D-did he ever tell y-you ab-about me?”

A pause. “No,” Atreus replied. There was something tight in his tone that Calliope didn’t quite like. “He hardly told me about his past. The things he did, and all that. He never told me about you, or your mother.”

“My m-mother is Ly-Lysandra,” Calliope offered.

“Lysandra,” Atreus repeated. He gave her a very gentle squeeze. “I’ll remember that.”

Calliope squeezed him back, as much as her trembling arms were able to manage. “Wh-what is your mother’s name?”

“Laufey.” She heard the smile in his voice. “But you can call her Faye.”

“Does she look like you?”

“She did. She mostly raised me when I was young, since Kratos went hunting a lot. She used to carry around an axe.”

“An axe?” Calliope repeated, startled. “Really?”

“Really. It has ice powers. And if you throw it far, you can call it back, and it’ll come flying back to your hand.”

“A flying axe?” Calliope could hardly believe it. But Atreus had magic arrows that turned different colours when he fired them. And he could turn into animals. What other surprises did he have up his sleeve?

“She also sang to me when I was sick,” Atreus went on. “I’ll sing one of her songs for you, if you want. To help you sleep.”

Calliope sniffled and snuggled closer to his side. “Okay.”

Atreus’ low voice soon filled the room, sweet and melancholic.

(He sings Laufey's song here, from the GoW OST, Ashes)

That night, Calliope dreamed of a tall woman with fair hair and blue eyes. With her mighty axe, the woman chopped up all the bad dreams and tossed them away, then pranced toward the tall mountains in the distance, disappearing into the light.

(The following day; Calliope looks through Atreus' journal with his travel entries.)

There was another portrait on the next page. Calliope took in the woman’s braided hair and bright eyes, the mischievous touch to her smile. She looked at Atreus, then at the portrait. “Is this Laufey?”

Atreus nodded. “That’s her. From what I could remember, at least.”

“I like her face. She looks like you.”

Atreus ducked his head, but not before Calliope spotted his shy smile. As she turned to the next page, Atreus asked, “Did Lysandra look like you?”

Calliope hesitated. “I think so. That’s what all the women said.” She tried to bring her mother’s face to mind, but her memory was blurred at the edges. Long, dark hair. A blue tainia and peplos. If only Calliope could draw! Putting it down on paper would surely help her memory become clearer.

speaking of my totem animal, random bg3 theory/spoilers below but

obviously the dnd world works differently (as well as in irl how different tribes/cultures/individuals are assigned spirit/totem/power animals but.) BUT! just for a thing i felt like it was funsies to theorize what halsin's current (entire bg3 'timeline') 'animals' would be. keep in mind 'animal' doesnt always mean a literal animal. it can potentially be any creature, entity, being, or even concept which varies by the tribe/person/spirituality

either way

his spirit animal is most likely thaniel

i mostly say this because. well, thaniel is a literal spirit but also because halsin seems attached to thaniel in a very long-term way. halsin is a long-living elf, and thaniel is probably one of the only people that halsin can rely on (as well as thaniel rely on him). thaniel also seems to 'guide' halsin towards that caring halsin figure that we see throughout the game (as well as his journey through his long life way before bg3's timeline). also! - i believe thaniel helps halsin with embracing his totem and power animals which ill talk about below

his totem animal is most likely a bear

this one feels self explanatory, he can turn into a bear! but i know some readers may be like 'but syrips, the bear is his fuel and power, shouldnt that be his power animal?' but nay nay. let me explain my theory.. you see reader, yes, the bear is a powerful and motivational thing, but the bear also is his 'structure' for his familial, cultural, and communal life. the bear is the druid leader, the fierce protector, and the intensely loving (for him and those around him). the bear, is his symbol for family and community. and the totem animal is usually affiliated to your tribe, culture, family, or affiliation to nature (as an individual is to their community). the fact he also has a bear scar also kind of makes it feel like his entire 'communal core with nature' (as well as bears seeming to gravitate towards him) is very fitting with a bear. and, was it just a coincidence that he turns into a bear when he wants to love you?

his power animal is most likely a duck

this one might sound funny, and i think that is the point! his bizarre line of 'i like ducks' and him carving a duck and giving it to you feels more than a coincidence. and, a duck is such a strange and bizarre thing for 'big burly halsin,' right? but, exactly. i believe thaniel helped halsin with his inner child/youth/vulnerability, and the duck is a personal representation of something small, resilient, and peaceful. is that not the most halsin-intimate thing that defines halsin as halsin? the power animal isnt always about 'big mighty power'. it means an individual, inner 'animal' that we embrace and can use to reflect our own inner growth, healing, joy, and self-agency. a duck is perfect for this because halsin is a big mighty bear, but his core is the soft, delicate duck. and vulnerability is power.

I started rewatching Ducktales 2017 over the holiday, with the intent of finally finishing the last few episodes! I’m in the middle of s2 and very excited.
