i can’t wait until all my hard work has paid off and doors start opening up for me, trips for me to take are paid off in full, people for me too meet are ideal (warm, kind, humble, affluent, intelligent, willing, helpful, trustworthy, etc.) my ideal partner is meeting me and fascinated by me, etc. i’m claiming it and i hope you are too.

high school musical 2 is a thinly veiled metaphor for white privilege. employment and education opportunities are handed to troy, a white boy, on a silver platter despite his own protests that “i don’t think i’m qualified”, solely because of a rich white girl’s interest in him. his friends, people of colour, are overlooked for similar opportunities despite having the same skill set as troy himself. when troy and gabriella break the country club staff rules, it is gabriella, a woman of colour, who is punished for the breaches while troy receives nothing but a verbal scolding every time. in this essay i will-

okay no that’s it i cannot fucking believe people are still fucking saying this shit, this goddamn often. i am fucking DONE with seeing it.
vanitas no carte is not mother fucking queerbait.
it has multiple canon lgbt characters, as i have pointed out before, and a series that has multiple canon lgbt characters cannot fucking be classed as queerbait. bc if you fucking have lgbt rep, you’re not fucking being baited!
and no. vanoe’s current canon status is not a viable argument towards it being queerbait. at all.
the story is ongoing, and is honestly probably YEARS off of being finished.
if their current blatantly romantic coded status isn’t blatant enough for you, that is your own fucking problem. but it does not mean you get to fucking spread misinformation and disregard the canon rep it has given us.
vanitas no carte is an anime/manga series based in japan. which is a notoriously homophobic country. mochijun is working against a lot of restrictions to give us what she’s been giving us. especially since vnc is a shounen, and is not classed under any specific lgbt genre. we’re fucking lucky she has been able to get away with what she already has.
i am beyond tired of seeing her efforts being undermined & disregarded.
the world is not as progressive as you want it to be, and y’all sincerely need to fucking understand that. get a goddamn grip and learn what queerbait actually fucking is because vnc is not it, and painting it as such is just spreading harmful misinformation.
start valuing and appreciating the work that goes into giving us representation like vnc has.
because it is rare to have multiple lgbt characters who just get to be characters. not stereotypes. not tokens. fully fleshed out characters with complexity, and depth, and personalities, like actual fucking people, who get to be treated like actual fucking people in the story itself.
and the only way for rep like that to become common is to appreciate the work that goes into fighting for it to be produced, & supporting that work.
so seriously. genuinely. please stop fucking saying that vnc is queerbait bc it is not. and we won’t get another series like it if y’all keep fucking spreading that kinda misinformation.
ok? ok.
