New World Headquarters for the Research Commission, Formation of The Hunter’s Guild: The Settlement of Astera
or
The Settlement of Astera
or
Astera
(Monster Hunter: World)
made by hand primarily from paper
(also floral wire, toothpicks, epoxy resin)
28” x 20” diameter
My largest miniature yet and certainly the most densely constructed. This piece took me 5 months, chipped through well over 1k blades, 4 pads of bristol paper, countless sheets of cardstock, 3 bottles of glue, 48 LEDs, and a liter of clear cast resin.

I kept a weekly journal documenting the process for free reads on my Patreon over here: https://www.patreon.com/collection/60826
Haven't actually made much progress on this since I last posted, however my wife @yaristari wanted to test her camera on this little guy. Here's some cool pics she got!
Typical of Capcom to drop the larger figure after I needed good refs for this LMAO
Bloodlust Malzeno, painted on a regular Malzeno from the Monster Hunter Figure Builder series!
The base is my first attempt at a fully custom background - learned a lot, but still a lot to learn \o/
I counted up ALL of my unfinished minis and have about 1,300. So I decided I need to start chipping through them!
Had a lot of fun just splashing some speedpaints on the abomination ogre (don't remember his actual name, but it's by Archon) and then building those colors up. He's so neon and colorful but so gross! (Added some UV resin to make everything just a little slimier!)
The Samurai is my first bust. She'd been sitting mostly painted on my shelf for awhile and I really needed to just finish her. I could've spent a lot more time on her but rather than get hung up, I decided to move on.
And the feathered snake (Tobi-Kadachi from the Monster Hunter Boardgame) I wanted to paint up to be an autumnal bush viper! Really pleased with how they look!
None of these are my best paintjobs but they look pretty cool on the table and they're FINISHED!
Runequest: Creatures of Glorantha, set of 25mm miniatures sculpted by Bob Charrette for Ral Partha, with box art featuring the dark troll, warrior dragonewt, walkatpus, and dragonsnail (I see no signature; CB Gorby and Tony Orzech contributed some of the art for other sets in this series)
This was a fun challenge. I made the orientation lines green like the scoutfly glow, but I can't decide if I like it. I love the rest of it though, I'm really proud, & excited to do another one :D
Got pics of the boy! Really happy with how this one came out, especially the shimmery scales. I'm also really happy with how absolutely squelching he looks.
Tried to capture the color-shift properties of the metallics (Don't mind my shaky hand lol). I used a green/yellow paint as the base, then did a few layers of silver/magenta paint just on top.
The figure comes from the Monster Hunter: World board game.
More pics after the break!
Though the mud on the fish was part of the original sculpt, the base was mostly just flat. I decided to sculpt some more mud to go with the mud already on him! After painting I added some fake pooling water to complete the look.
My wife suggested I throw a little grass in the pools of water. It was the right choice tbh
Another set that was finished and uploaded a little while ago, these are the Ocular Swarms! This mini was made to serve as an accompaniment to the larger Ocular Anomaly shown previously, and to function as some smaller swarm mobs to pad out the encounters a bit more. Therefor these match well with their larger counterparts both in color and design. A closer look at the colors is coming next in a separate post!
If you like what you see and want to support me and get a whole bunch more printable minis like these, check out my Patreon page! All of them come in, pre-scaled easy to print PDFs / PNG files and work great with a myriad of ttrpg games, including DnD, Pathfinder, Daggerheart, Blades in the Dark, Call of Cthulhu and more. The front view for most minis is FREE and supporters get access to a whole lot more including unique back views, color options, alternative poses & variant designs, VTT tokens and so much more. With dozens of minis to choose from, and more uploading every month, you will always have a new option for your table. ❤
Repaint of Lunagaron, from the Monster Hunter Figure Builder series!
The base is repurposed from an old anime figurine. Luna's teeth were painted white (instead of red) by choice, to help them stand out a bit from her mouth!
