You had heard tales of the stunning Amazon Lily, an island inhabited by the Kuja tribe, overflowing with majesty. You had even heard tales of the shichibukai who made her home there, the fierce and terrifying Boa Hancock. The rumors said she was the most beautiful woman in the world, and with her standing in front of you, she really was an intimidating kind of ethereal.
Her long black hair tumbled down her back, and her figure was a perfect hourglass. Her limbs were long and slender, her pearly skin smooth, and her eyes round and soft. She was the kind of woman who caught the eye of everyone who managed to grace her presence. Now, as she stood ahead of you with all the poise of a goddess, you couldn’t help but to feel subpar.
“And… What exactly are you?” Boa sneered, rearing her head back and staring down her nose at you. Her elegant arms were crossed over her large chest, her eyes narrowed at you as you stood alone, waiting for your captain to climb off his ship that docked nearby. You suddenly felt plain in the outfit you wore, although you’d been so happy with it when you had picked it earlier that morning. Her extravagant clothing seemed to outshine yours in every way, with bright colors and expensive fabrics that put you to shame.
You were about to open your mouth and retort, before you felt a familiar weight settle over your shoulders. Your captain had leapt off of the Thousand Sunny and made a beeline for your side, a wide grin on his face. “Hiya, Hammock!” Luffy greeted the warlord, his tone bright and playful. Your tense muscles relaxed and you felt your heart soar at the presence of your partner.
“Luffy my darling! Oh, it’s so good to see you again my love!” The warlord’s demeanor had switched within an instant, and she held her hands to her face with a bright blush now present on her lovely face. She had an expression of shy bliss, swaying side to side as she fell into her own imagination. You tilted your head slightly in confusion, what was she talking about? Was she crazy, or did she and Luffy actually have something going on that you didn’t know about?
You shrugged it off, sure that it was nothing. You leaned your head on Luffy’s shoulder, and your captain turned his head slightly to give you a smile. Heart a flutter, you relaxed, any doubts leaving your mind instantly. His fluffy hair tickled your cheek, causing you to giggle softly, and the sound of your glee knocked Hancock out of her stupor.
“Who are you, pitiful creature?” She sneered, her face twisted into an expression of envy. Hancock looked disgusted, offended that you had the audacity to stand in the mere vicinity of her love.
“They’re my smanibican other!” Luffy cheered, smushing his cheek against yours. You raised a brow and smiled in amusement. He lifted your spirits immensely, his happy-go-lucky and sunshine-y nature ended up being addictive.
“Significant, Lu. We still gotta work on that.” You hummed, and Luffy just laughed wildly. He wrapped his arm around yours, all the while Hancock looked as though you just puked on her shoes. She practically snarled at you, her eyes fierce and intimidating. Her massive snake weapon, Salome, had coiled up behind her and was baring her fangs at you, something that had you nervous.
Luffy didn’t seem bothered by Hancock or her snake at all, reaching down to hold onto your hand happily. He swung your connected hands, his signature grin on his face. “So where’s the food, Hammock? I’m starving!” Luffy drew the warlord’s gaze, and she melted again in an instant. The bright blush returned to her cheeks and she clasped her hands together with a schoolgirlish giggle.
“I’ve prepared only the finest feast for you, my beloved! Meat, fruits, cuisine of all types just for you, Luffy darling~!” She sighed happily, and held her face in her hands. Her long hair swayed behind her in her excitement as she imagined some false scenario in her mind. When your stomach growled, causing Luffy to laugh, she dropped her sweet demeanor again, glaring at you. “You are not welcome, harlot. Only Luffy may dine at my table.” Hancock scoffed, crossing her arms and turning her head away.
“Hey, why not?!” Luffy huffed, his brows furrowing and a sharp frown crossing his face. “I dunno what a hutlet is, but Y/N is not one of them!!!” He clutched harder onto your hand, and it took you letting out a sigh and laying your head on his shoulder to get him to calm down. Your captain only quieted his words, his angered expression remained in place.
Hancock looked torn, her heart shattered, before she recovered and turned her back to you. Flipping her hair over her shoulder, she huffed. “…Very well.” She sent a glance at you, one so full of venom that you couldn’t help but shudder and slide closer to your boyfriend. The rumors that stated that she was as terrifying as she was beautiful were correct in every way.
Luffy cheered, letting go of any anger he felt and wrapping his arms and legs around you in a hug. “You hear that? We can both go eat together!” You smiled, and wrapped your arms around him in return.
“Yeah, we can. Do you wanna go get the others?” You suggested, looking around for your crewmates. The entirety of the Straw Hat crew had decided to stop on Amazon Lily as they passed through the area, most everyone excited to meet the Kuja warriors. Sanji, of course, was practically losing his mind even before you reached the island, and Usopp seemed genuinely terrified to step foot near Amazon Lily at all.
Luffy’s eyes widened, and he shot off with a wild yell, using his arms to swing back towards the ship docked further down the island. You felt a sense of contentment wash over you, watching your captain go so happily. In the meantime, you figured you’d take a stroll around and take in the sights of the beautiful island.
The forests were still but not silent in the least, teeming with wildlife that cooed and hummed. You had been told that Amazon Lily never saw a storm due to its location in the Calm Belt, and you figured Nami would get a kick out of the meteorology of the island. All around you vivid colors sprouted, wide leaves of trees and plants soaked up the sun, and brightly colored birds sang a chorus of songs. The island was as beautiful as its empress, filled with an incredible kind of majesty that had you floored.
Your hand lightly grazed over the bark of one of the taller trees in the jungle, your thoughts wandering as you wondered if Robin knew any secrets of the island that she’d be willing to share with you. It was perfectly peaceful, and you let yourself get lost in the forest until it was time for the banquet.
    +++
The dining room in Hancock’s palace was extravagant, lined with gorgeous fabrics in every hue, glimmering jewels and gems lining every cup and plate. The elegant aroma of delicious food wafted over the long table, and you had to keep a firm grip on Luffy’s arm to prevent him from leaping out of his seat and scarfing down the nearest entree. After fervently insisting that the rest of his nakama be allowed on the island, Zoro, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Franky, and Brook were allowed to attend the banquet, although Sanji did get punched and kicked a few times by a few Kuja warriors who he got a bit too close to.
You sat on one side of Luffy, while Hancock sat on the other side at the head of the table. Your crewmates were scattered about in the other seats, eager to begin the banquet. Although you sent a grateful smile to Hancock, she returned it with a sharp glare and a sneer, her hands itching to use her devil fruit powers on you. The only thing holding her back was Luffy, braced between you two, and his arm around your shoulders.
“Let’s eat! I’m starving!” Luffy whined, practically drooling as he stared at the onslaught of perfectly cooked meals for him and his crew to enjoy. Chopper sat on the other side of you, a few pillows stacked on his seat so that he could reach the table. He cheered in unison with Luffy, and you laughed. The atmosphere with the crew around had lifted, and you felt at home and safe once again. Who cared about what that warlord thought? Just because she was intimidatingly pretty she thought she could ruin your day? Your found family and your boyfriend were secure around you, and you couldn’t have been happier if you tried.
Soon you couldn’t hold Luffy back any longer, and he began to scarf down anything within reach. You could only laugh at his wild nature, and did your best to avoid his rampage while you ate. It was a bit of a task, dodging Luffy’s arms as he swiped food from other people, but made sure that you still had enough of the things you wanted to eat. You discreetly slid Chopper some of the fruit from your plate after Luffy had stolen his, only for your beloved captain to take notice and fall into a fit of laughter.
Throughout the meal, Hancock glared at you with fire in her eyes. When you took Luffy’s hand and leaned in to place an affectionate kiss on his cheek while he snacked on something, it seemed to be her last straw. She abruptly stood and slammed her hands down on the table, her face twisted into an expression of rage. The silence that fell over the table was the perfect backdrop for her speech.
“Get your disgusting mouth off of my betrothed! You don’t even deserve to be in my palace, I allowed you here out of my admiration for my Luffy. Now you dare to disrespect me by kissing my beloved?” Her voice was filled with venom and hatred, her eyes seething as her snake rose up behind her. “You are worth less than dirt, you don’t even deserve my spit.” Hancock hissed, entirely fuming.
You could hear Usopp whisper something to Franky, “I thought they were dating? Don’t people who date usually kiss their partners?” Out of the corner of your eye, you watched Franky nod, but you were too taken aback to move. You didn’t realize just how obsessed Hancock was with your captain, and you didn’t know how to respond.
“That’s no way to speak to them!” Nami stood up, matching the anger on Hancock’s face. Your heart swelled when you saw your crewmates coming to your defense, even Chopper, as timid as he was, leapt onto the table to agree with the navigator.
“Now, now, let’s all settle down—“ Brook said nervously, clasping his bony hands together. His head swiveled around between the irked warlord and the crewmates coming to your defense, and all you could do was shrink in your seat beside Luffy.
“You think Luffy would love someone like you? When he could have me?” Hancock spat, her furious gaze never leaving you. “I am better than you in every possible way, worm, you don’t even deserve to be in his presence!” Her voice trailed off into a screech, Zoro giving a short whistle as if to say, ‘damn, this chick is crazy’. Nami was about to say something, before Robin held up a hand, ever the picture of elegance.
“How about we let Luffy decide who he likes most?” She spoke with a calm voice, sending you a comforting smile. The entire time, Luffy had been chewing on a piece of meat, his eyes shadowed by his signature straw hat. Your heart started to pound, what if he chose Hancock? She wasn’t halfway wrong when she said that she was better than you, she was a warlord after all. Strong, beautiful, and empress of her own empire. Luffy had every reason to choose her over you.
Hancock crossed her arms and a confident grin sparked on her lips. “He’ll choose me, obviously—“ Her words trailed off as she watched Luffy yank his hat off of his head and drop it onto yours. WIthout a word, he swallowed his food and planted a kiss on your cheek, his arm firmly around your waist. When he looked up, he had danger in his eyes, returning Hancock’s glare with one of his own. It was obvious what his choice was.
“Quit talking about them like that.” His tone was slow but menacing, his eyes wide as he stared the warlord down. She was taken aback, a slight gasp leaving her. Relief washed over you, and you leaned into Luffy’s side, smiling softly to yourself. Was it bad that you felt proud? Either way, you had won over the pirate empress.
Luffy wrapped his arm around your waist, and tugged you closer, never once breaking his stare down with Hancock. The rest of the crew felt the dangerous aura that their captain gave off and tensed as though they were about to witness a fight. Chopper clung to your other arm, and Usopp hid behind Franky.
Without another word, Luffy stood up, pulling you with him. The rest of the crew followed suit, following behind him as he stomped back to the ship. You felt a little embarrassed, because of your actions the banquet was apparently canceled, and though you felt a strong disinclination towards Hancock, it twisted your heart to see her on the verge of tears as Luffy left her behind.
The crew didn’t seem to mind, Nami was raving about what a psycho the warlord was while Robin sent you a conspiratorial wink. Usopp was claiming that he could’ve beaten her if they went head to head, Zoro didn’t seem to care, and Sanji was lighting up a brand new cigarette. Everyone seemed nonchalant, but it had made you feel so cared for when they stood up for you.
Everyone seemed to be back to normal when you boarded the Thousand Sunny again, except Luffy. He still seemed to be carrying something, and you turned to him to ask him what was wrong.
“I didn’t like how she was talkin’ about you. You’re not a worm, you’re strong! That’s why you’re a part of my crew!” He looked to you and sent you a big grin, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and pulling you flush to his side. You still wore his hat, and he gently flicked the brim upwards so that he could see your eyes. His boyish expression sent a shock through you that had your head spinning. “And you’re my sanipigcant other! Of course I’m gonna pick you!” He pressed his cheek against yours, before giving you an affectionate kiss on your forehead.
You fought back a blush as you smiled, leaning into him as your found family made small talk around you. “Significant, Luffy.” You corrected him softly, to which he just laughed. You placed his hat back onto his head and his grin widened, looking at you like you were his whole world.
As the crew began to ship out from Amazon Lily after their very short excursion, you didn’t stray much from Luffy’s side, and he eventually pulled you up to sit on the lion figurehead with him as night fell. Your heart swelled with love for your captain and partner, and your affections only grew every time he sent you his excitable grin. Pressing a kiss to his nose that made him giggle, the two of you spent the evening watching the stars fade into view.

LET THE FIC REQUEST POSTING BEGIN!!! Today's request is for @jaybirdsdelight !
Cal’s taken a few blows to the head in his time, but nothing, absolutely nothing, hits as hard as a KX droid. Also, how did anything that huge and loud manage to sneak up and get the drop on him? Cal blames the wind. Zeffo is so windy, and the Force sings in the air. That distracted him, as did an echo of a child almost left behind in the villagers’ desperate evacuation. Swallowed by childish terror, Cal hadn’t defended himself. The droid hit him, hard, in the back of the head, and now…
Now he’s being dragged away, stomach dragged over the rocky ground, one ankle tightly grasped in the droid’s vice-like grip. Wait. When did that happen? And where are they going? Back to the nearest garrison, most likely. Cal’s stomach turns a few flips, the Zeffo skyline swirling. Not good. Very not good.
And now he can hear very intense beeps and whistles begging him to wake up, fight back, get away. Who…? BD. It’s BD-1. Right. Because he’s on Zeffo, searching for… searching for… something.
His head really hurts.
BD jabs his shoulder, hard.
“I’m okay,” Cal mumbles. He checks his teeth. All in place. Good. The back of his head pounds and pulses, the chilly dampness there suggesting blood. Lots of blood. “Gotta escape.”
BD offers up a lengthy plan. Cal can’t really follow it. His head hurts. A lot. A lot a lot. Migraine a lot. Stars and auras dance through his right eye, a one-two punch of echo hangover and head injury. That’s not good. He catches something about a distraction, and then BD’s gone, racing down Cal’s back, up his back, and onto the KX droid. Cal hears a lot of angry beeps, a threat from the KX droid, and then his leg is released. Cal rolls over, sees BD rocketing around the KX droid, dodging swipes. Swipes and swipes and grabs.
Grabs BD.
His friend is trapped.
“Still resisting? Unwise,” the droid announces. “You are an exploration droid. You are not designed for combat. You will lose. Your attempt to defeat me was foolish.”
BD responds with a creative threat. The KX droid pulls back her fist, ready to deliver a final blow. Cal is on his feet, lightsaber swinging, before he finishes thinking. The droid falls into pieces, hand still clamped around BD. Cal wastes no time freeing his friend, and BD hurries back to his shoulder, thanking him.
“No, I owe you one,” Cal says, deactivating his lightsaber and pressing a hand to his head, massaging the nauseating ache there. “That thing came out of nowhere.”
BD agrees, and then he says the back of Cal’s head is a disgusting, bloody mess and maybe he should get himself back to the ship. It’s not far, after all.
“It isn’t?” Cal looks around, vision hazed with an aura, and sees they are only on the other side of the abandoned hanger’s wall. The Mantis is very close by. The fact brings tears of relief to his eyes. “Oh. I didn’t notice.”
With lots of encouragement from BD, Cal returns to the ship. Greez looks over from the terrarium, immediately aghast. “Don’t bleed over the potolli weave,” he orders. “I’ll never get it out.”
Thankfully, Cere is there to guide Cal to the galley table and clean him up. “Headache?” she asks quietly, gluing the gash in his scalp back together.
Cal grunts an affirmative. Noise and light are the enemy right now.
“I’m going to give you a painkiller, and then it’s off to bed… although I’m going to have to wake you every so often to check for brain damage.”
“Way too late for that,” Greez teases.
If Cal felt better, he’d reply to that, probably by throwing Greez’s lucky spoon right at his head. Fortunately for Greez, Cere’s given him something for the pain and Cal’s already losing track and suddenly he’s in his bunk at the back of the ship, boots off, eyes shut, a cold compress resting over his neck.
“Do we need to find a medic?” Greez’s voice drifts from somewhere nearby.
BD-1 beeps worriedly.
“No,” Cere says. Cal feels her lift the blanket so it rests just below his shoulders. “He’ll be alright.”
Cal lets himself sleep.
Cere wakes him up way too soon, asks for his name, the name of the ship they’re on, the last planet they stopped on, and his age. Cal answers to her satisfaction, once he peels his tongue off the roof of his mouth, and is allowed to go back to sleep. It happens a few more times before Cere’s convinced he hasn’t caused permanent brain damage, and finally allows him to sleep the rest of the night through.

Minific! Coworkers au, basically just an excuse to make henry as flirty as possible
“You’re staring”
“Yes i am” henry eyes flicker as he speaks, in this light, they’re more blue than alex has ever seen them, its almost unnerving
“Why are you starting?” He demands again, and its so strange, the henry alex knows, the henry he works with, the sober, profesional, serious, tuxedo wearing henry he’s shared an office with for three months wouldn’t ever be so direct, so shameless. Damn alex, he likes it, henry takes a small step forwards, leaning into alex as he whispers in his ear
“Well, you could say i just like looking at you, but im always more poetic than that when trying to do this” he says, and his voice is honey thick and velvet, alex feels the goosebumps rise to his skin, he almost shudders, he only cranes his neck a bit, henry pulls back finally, looking down at alex, scanning him, and alex cant help himself
“Trying to do what?” He looks up, through his eyelashes, and finally henry falters, huffing ~something~ alex cant quite tell what
“Trying to pick up a very attractive man at a bar”
“A very attractive coworker” alex corrects, and henry chuckles
“Either way, is it working?” He says, and alex can only pull him into the bathroom, totally disregarding the others with them, wont that be a fun water cooler conversation this monday.
He’s kissing henry before he can catch his breath, and when they’re done, or, better put, when the banging on the door becomes too loud and persistent to ignore, they pull away looking disheveled. Alex is sure his hair is frizzy and puffy, and his lip stings, there’s a wet spot at the bottom of his shirt, and speaking of, his shirt is so badly tucked in,he has to fuss to get one of the buttons out of the zipper.
Henry, on the other hand, looks just as destroyed, but he somehow makes it look fetching, lips bruised and cheeks blushed, alex feels it’s unfair, how dare he be so incredibly attractive.
They step out of the bathroom as casually as one can after going to second base sitting on a sink like a highschooler, making a point to ignore the very startled line of tragically straight men, and go straight to Henrys car.
“I am taking you home” henry says
“I really hope so” alex responds, and he has half a mind to be a bit embarrassed by the sheer amount of want in his voice
“No, im taking you to your home” he clarifies and alex is so mortified he thinks he might die right there and then
“Of course, i don’t mean to make you uncomf-“ he starts, but henry cuts him off
“Oh no, alex, i really enjoyed tonight, and trust me its not easy to withhold the border line embarrassing level of horny i feel right know, but i want to do this right. Let me take you out on a proper date… please?”
And alex kisses him again “of course, baby”

Small minific for The Slice Of Paradise because I wanted to give out some type of content before the next full chapter
But I've made progress on it
So
Yay
But, for now, enjoy James and Rosa bein cute
---
Rosa was wrapped up in a blanket, not wanting to actually wake up yet. But, it was Monday, and Monday meant school. Yay.
James always wrapped her up in a blanket when she stayed there. Said it was for comfort, since she mentioned her ex normally pushing boundaries and holding her to tight, not letting her move, and not letting her get up. She appreciated it. So much.
She was lightly shook awake by James with a mug of tea, and she smiled, getting up to start getting breakfast.
"How'd you sleep, my rose?" James asked, making pancakes for them. His parents were already at work, though his mom was coming back from her overnight shift as a nurse at the hospital
"Pretty good. I'm still waking up, I need to get ready"
"Eat first, please."
She chuckled, leaning on him while he kissed her forehead.
They quickly ate, she finished her tea while putting together lunches for them, and she started getting ready, fixing her hair, getting changed, and putting on light make up. Mostly to cover the scar on her face, over her eye. Why she kept her hair over it, really.
"Your still beautiful without that on, Rosie." James said when he walked in
"I know... I just feel a little better to know people can't see it."
He gently kissed her head, letting her finish up so they could get out the door and get to school.
"Your adorable, Rosie." James said
"Crime lord."
"Muffin."
"Demon."
"My demon"

I am going to have to start posting more here about the process of writing Brought to Heel because I have four A5 notebook pages of notes on what to do in chapter 7 and if I don't get it out somehow I will drive myself to madness or end up letting myself be distracted by the newest shiny idea that isn't part of a longer story.
It would be nice if I could do maybe, working on Brought to Heel for an hour on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and then some other thing or like a minific for an October writing challenge on Tuesday and Thursday.
I will see if I can make this work. I'll post how much I got done each night the day after anyhow, that might help. Can't do it until the next day because I have scheduled app blockers to stop me goofing my sleep pattern by staying up browsing the internet.

So... I have to take a few days off of the Minific Challenge.
Work has been crazy as I adjust to a new role and I'm traveling this weekend which is always just tiring and stressful for me. Not to mention, I don't have much access to a computer when I'm not at work lately and posting from Tumblr mobile is the fifth circle of hell lol But I'll be back at it on Monday 💖

I may not be able to post chapter two until Monday or next Sunday tbh, so instead I'll talk about some plans and ideas I have for the Guided Hands au!
In the works right now is a oneshot about Willow and Amity, and their lives as the vigilante duo 'The Slips' which I mainly want to write so people who follow the au on ao3 can know the hilarity of Willow and Amity hating each other. That one is outlined and will probably be fully written pretty soon.
Another oneshot idea is for Raine Whispers, and the complications of being a hero that is also secretly a vigilante. That may end up being more of a minific, and is more of an rough concept than an outlined idea.
Those are the main two, but I also want to do something detailing Belos' past in this au, because while it'll be touched on vaguely in LNCGTV and HWIGTH, it won't be given the depth I think it deserves. But, again, I have no solid plans just yet. Only a vague want.
So yeah, things to look forward to, I guess! I'm going to be honest, it is very hard to talk about this fic without spoiling shit ^-^

kiss fic geraltxjaskier and #6 😘
The sun sinks below the horizon in a blaze of goldand Geralt watches, unsure if he’s admiring or envious of the way it is freefrom the forces of destiny trying to pull it from its natural path.
Geralt’s years at destiny’s beck and call have beenwearisome and though they were fewer than those which came before, they feltfar longer. But now Ciri sits safely on the throne of a Cintra grown far beyondthe nation her grandmother bequeathed and she’s safe with Yennefer at her sideas court sorceress to support her through whatever challenges might arise;though in truth the girl has grown far beyond needing either of them.
There will always be monsters, but they are fewernow then there once were and there are others to shoulder that burden, and sohe’d come here, tothe place he has avoided for years. The few times it had been remarked upon, he’ddeflected with the excuse that he doesn’t do sea-monsters, but that’snever been the true reason.
Standing the edge of land and sea, bathed in goldenlight with clear blue water lapping around his ankles, Jaskier looks like he’sfound a place that he belongs and Geralt hesitates to intrude, but somesound or shadow must give him away because Jaskier turns, looks over hisshoulder, and then offers up a casual smile, as if they’d planned to meet hererather than it simply being the site of a years old offer, never followed upbecause Geralt had spoken in temper, so easily forgeo the lesson he ought tohave learned from their encounter with the djinn.
“Geralt,”he says, voice low and warm. “You took your time.”
Age has started to creep in, the lines around hiseyes Yen had once teased him about truly settled there now, not just flasheswhen he smiles, and there are flecks of silver in his hair, although it’s stilldark compared to Geralt’s own.
He knows Jaskier hasn’t been waiting all these years,he’s heard tales and songs (though always from lesser singers) recounting histravels, but that he’s here now, just as Geralt had come in reminiscence of theproposition he’d oft regretted refusing?
“Jaskier…” his voice comes out as a rasp, disused onthe road as it had never become when he’d had Jaskier’s company.
There’s little he can say. There are few excusesfor the way they’d parted and fewer still for the years he’s allowed to passwithout seeing to remedy that error. The memory has been a wound leftuntreated, but though Geralt knows his actions must have done harm, Jaskierapproaches with nothing in his eyes but welcome and trust.
Geralthas kissed in taverns and forests and castles and they’ve always beensome or another sort of complicated: sometimes a trick or a trade, others theaffection fraught with history or come with a sting in its tail. But here theyare, as Jaskier once offered, away from it all, and when Jaskier’s lips pressto his, the kiss is just a kiss.

“You can’t just go rushing out like that! You’re still basically in tatters from the last fight, and look! You’re bleeding through your bandages!” You shrieked at the green-haired man, your voice filled with worry and frustration. “Is it too much to ask for you to be careful, and maybe leave the fighting to the others for once?” His fiendish drive for battle drove you insane, and as attractive as it was seeing him cut down his enemies with ease, it sent your heart into a frenzy whenever he sustained such deep wounds.
“I’m fine. Quit yapping.” He sighed, dropping a heavy hand onto your head. His words were meant to comfort you, but it only riled you up more. Could he seriously not see how he looked? His torso was heavily bandaged, as were his arms and head, dark crimson stains blooming all across his abdomen. Despite Chopper’s warnings that he should rest and stop moving so much, he just kept throwing himself into sparring matches with Sanji and never strayed from his strenuous workout routine. He was going to get himself killed one of these days, and it broke you how small his drive for self preservation was.
“But you aren’t fine, Zoro! You’re bleeding from fucking everywhere!” You wailed, shoving his hand off of your head and urging him to lay down. “Please go lay down, please, even Chopper said you should.” You were nearly begging him at this point, begging him to prioritize his healing. Despite your words, you knew it was in vain.
Zoro scoffed, obviously tired and in pain. He didn’t need rest. He needed to get stronger, so he wouldn’t get hurt like this again. He hated seeing you so upset, especially over him. Those tears that threatened to spill from the corners of your puffy eyes cut through him sharper than any sword, but he had no way of telling you just how he was feeling. It was difficult enough for him to open up, to confess to you, he couldn’t tell you that he was weak. Weak for you, for everything about you. He desired to be the world’s greatest swordsman not only because of the promise he made in his youth, but also to protect you from anything and everything.
“You don’t know my tolerance. Hell, you weren’t even in the fight, you have no idea what I can handle and what I can’t.” Zoro nearly snarled. “I’m nothing like you, Y/N.” He didn’t mean it, he was exhausted. He just wanted to fall back to his comfortable and reassuring routine of shaking his doubts by getting stronger. He’d feel better then. He didn’t mean it, he didn’t. The second the words left his mouth he regretted it, his tense expression immediately softening as he saw the toll his words took on you.
Your eyes were wide, and your body had tensed. Something like betrayal— heartbreak— sparkled in your gaze, and Zoro felt another pang in his chest. You hiccuped, your tears starting to silently spill over your cheeks, and he had no idea what to do. He was frozen in place, his jaw slack, a loose sigh leaving his lips. “I—“ He started, but you cut him off.
“No, you’re right. We really are nothing alike, huh?” Your gaze flickered down to the deck of the Thousand Sunny, a shaky breath wracking your frame. You glanced back up, sending Zoro a half-hearted smile, one so full of sorrow that his legs threatened to give out underneath him. “Get well soon, Roronoa.” Your voice was soft, barely a whisper, sparkling tears dripping onto the deck. With that, you spun, leaving the swordsman to stand alone, stiff, as you paced to your own quarters.
You bunked with Nami and Robin when you weren’t crammed into Zoro’s hammock with him, on a small but cozy little bed in the corner of the women’s quarters. Preferring the peace and quiet of the room, you slunk to your bed and curled up, staring longingly at the yellow sweatshirt he’d given you after the incidents at Water 7. You sniffed, wiping away your tears with your wrist as you tossed the sweatshirt away, rolling on your side to face the wall.
Fine. He could die for all you cared. If he didn’t care enough to listen to a doctor, to listen to you pleading with him, then why should you care? Your mind ran in circles as your heart ached at his words. A part of you knew he didn’t mean it, but another part prodded at you, telling your mind in its fragile state that that was how he truly felt. He was right, you weren’t in the fight. Not because you were scared, but because you stayed back with a few of the others to defend the ship. You weren’t weak, you could hold your own just like any other member of the crew, but perhaps Zoro saw you differently.
Quiet sobs left your aching body, every beat of your heart driving another harsh pain through your chest. He did this every time he was hurt, refusing to rest. Perhaps he didn’t really love you. He’d only ever said it a couple of times, and only after you’d said it first. And he didn’t have a lot of romantic experience, he probably didn’t even know what love was. Maybe he was confused and was dragging you along, just simply enjoying your company a bit more than others.
Every thought that ran through your head only made the pain grow, and you begged for them to stop. Despite your efforts to think about something else, anything else, your subconscious continued to fill your mind with such hurtful thoughts. Your body ached from the emotions you felt, your throat closing up as your tears refused to stop. Your eyes were surely ringed with red as you wrapped your arms around yourself, hoping to give yourself some form of comfort. Your arms were nothing like the familiar embrace of Zoro’s, and it only made your heart shatter further.
Outside on the main deck, you could hear the distant and muffled shouting of someone, a loud shout of annoyance, and then tense silence. The door to the women’s quarters was opened slowly, and a soft sigh accompanied the sound of heels clicking softly on the wooden floor. You could feel the bed dip next to you as someone sat down, and gently lay a loving hand on your head. The motion brought another sob out of you, and you immediately shifted to clutch onto the figure. Nami, you figured, by the subtle smell of tangerines that filled the air.
You latched onto her, laying your head in her lap as she slowly stroked your hair, saying nothing for a few moments. Your tears stained the bottom of her shirt, and you mumbled out short, breathless apologies as you let your emotions flow. She shook her head, reassuring you with a soft smile. “It’s fine, trust me. I heard what Zoro said, that dumbass.” The navigator let out a huff, her other hand curling into a fist. “I knocked some sense into him, though.” She nodded, continuing her motions of rubbing your scalp.
The two of you sat there, in a comfortable silence, Nami making sure your sobs and tears were at least soothed enough to stop. She eventually left, a storm sweeping up out of nowhere, and her navigation skills were necessary. You felt a little bit better, which was more than nothing, but part of you still ached for the comfortable moments with Zoro where he’d let you lay all over him. You had no idea where to go from there, surely the two of you were still a thing? You weren’t looking to end your relationship after one measly fight, but his words were too venomous to just brush past them and forgive him so easily.
Rain began to beat at the sides of the ship, lulling you into a comfortable state of numbness. You didn’t want to think about Zoro, and how right now he was probably helping to furl the sails and ready the ship for the storm. You should probably be helping too, but Nami had told you to stay, that the rest of the crew could handle it. A knock at the door had you rolling to your other side, puffy eyes staring at the tall figure in the frame. Though it was dark, you recognized the tinge of green hair instantly, and another wave of pain rolled through you. A part of you was hopeful that he had come to apologize, another part didn’t want to see him for a while.
You watched as he made a move to step forward, but was blocked by a net of arms. “Not the time, Roronoa.” Robin’s sharp voice echoed even through the storm, and with a rough grunt he spun and made himself useful somewhere else on the deck. You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding, curling back into yourself. It was for the best that he was stopped, you didn’t want to speak to him anyways.
You were left alone for a while, appreciating the soft rocking of the boat and the gentle rush of rain against wood. It was calming, and you spent the rest of the day tucked in your room, slipping in and out of sleep.
    +++
The atmosphere the next day was tense between everyone but Luffy and Chopper, still cheerily chowing down on the delicious breakfast Sanji had carefully made. Instead of sitting next to Zoro like you usually did, you sat next to Usopp, who really did nothing to help clear the awkward air. You excused yourself early, hearing Zoro heave a sigh as you left. The tension in the dining room was stifling, and the breeze of the open sea hit you as soon as you left, blowing away the negative feelings.
You were still a bit hungry, but you pushed your grumbling stomach out of mind, figuring that you’d ask Sanji for a snack later. The ocean winds tugged at your hair, and the familiar smell of the saltwater soothed your heart. The rising sun beat down on your shoulders, filling you with a comfortable warmth. Despite your messy emotions, you loved the ship and the crew you called home.
Deciding to make your way to the back of the ship, you sat down on a small bench next to Robin’s flower bed. The scent of Nami’s tangerine trees filled the air pleasantly, the soft rustle of their leaves adding to the ship’s perfect ambiance. After making yourself comfortable, you debated taking a short cat nap, the warm rays of the sun fighting back the chill of the ocean air. Your eyes only managed to flutter closed for half a second, before you heard footsteps and turned your head to see who it was.
You bit your lip as you tried to fight back the sinking feeling in your chest, gaze falling on the green-haired swordsman making his way up to you. One hand was rested on the hilts of his elegant swords, the other clutching onto a small plate. He seemed to have a dark look on his face, his good eye cast down at the Sunny’s deck. Likely deep in thought, the second he approached you, you noticed the tips of his ears turn pink.
Once he reached you, he held out the plate in his hand, scratching the back of his neck with his free hand. His eye seemed to look everywhere except at you, his voice a low murmur when he finally spoke. “Here. You didn’t finish eating.” Zoro knew that the only reason you didn’t finish eating was because he was in the dining room. You rarely ever left food on your plate whenever Sanji cooked, you respected his ‘never waste food’ policy, and whatever he made was always too good not to finish anyways. He’d taken your plate after you’d left, making up his mind to bring it to you.
You blinked at him before taking the plate, holding it in your lap. You weren’t sure what exactly to do, awkward from Zoro’s presence. He was debating turning around and going to train, but ended up slumping down on the deck with his back to the bench. There was a terse silence, before you sighed and set your plate to the side, not hungry anymore.
“I’m sorry.” You were startled by Zoro’s sudden words, genuine apologies were not something that usually left the swordsman’s mouth. You glanced down to him, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon. His legs were stretched out as he tried to make himself comfortable. Usually he’d be leaning against your thigh as you read a book and he napped, your positioning familiar, but now he made sure to give you a decent amount of space. “I didn’t mean it.” He mumbled.
You tapped your fingers against your side as you thought, swallowing thickly as tears threatened to form in your eyes again. “It sounded like you did.” You said after a few moments, gaze fixed on your lap. His words from the previous day still stung like briars wound tightly around your heart. You bit down sharply on your lip to prevent it from quivering.
Noticing that he had wound his coat tighter around himself to hide his bandages, you watched his posture slump. The two of you were stiff around each other, before Zoro leaned his head against the side of your knee. “I know. I didn’t mean it.” He repeated as he fiddled with the hilt of one of his swords, becoming frustrated with himself. He had finally been comfortable in your relationship, and now he’d gone and ruined it.
“You’re stronger than you seem, I admire you for that.” He slowly began to speak more, pushing himself to try and mend the pieces of your relationship. He’d hurt you, and it was the last thing he ever wanted to do. Zoro never wanted to see that look in your eyes again. His usual cocky demeanor was long gone, replaced by a more solemn look that had your stomach turning in knots. “.. I didn’t train yesterday. I didn’t go and lay down either, but I tried not to move around much.” He spoke gruffly, crossing his arms over his chest.
You had the urge to run your fingers through his short hair like you usually did, but you fought it back, clenching your hand into a fist and tucking it into your lap. You took a deep breath. “It hurt. What you said.” His apology was welcome, but your heart still hurt. The way he’d spoken with such venom still echoed in your ears. “I know I’m not as strong as you, you don’t have to point it out,” You sighed, mulling over what you would say next. “You just… I just want to make sure you’re okay. I don’t like seeing you hurt.” Your nagging words always came from a place of love, you didn’t want to see him in pain, however well he masked it.
The swordsman was silent, his brow furrowed as he was deep in thought. He was never good with expressing his feelings, now he was forcing himself to. He rubbed his face with one calloused hand, drawing his legs up slightly. “..’M used to just dealin’ with it myself. It’s weird having someone else be worried about you.” He said slowly, as if processing it himself. Zoro was trying his best to repair what he’d screwed up, but trying to verbalize his emotions was more difficult than he’d originally thought.
“…I’ll make it up to you.” He said after a moment, nodding his head and pushing himself to his feet. A plan was forming in his mind, one he was eager to set into motion. His hands reached out to you for a moment, before he let them drop to his sides. He didn’t know if you were okay with him yet, and he didn’t want to push anything. Giving him a soft smile, you stood up too, figuring you’d find something on the ship to do to occupy your mind. Looking at the handsome swordsman still sent a rush of pain through you after what he’d said, but you were set on working everything out and waiting for him to remedy your situation.
The two of you stood there for a moment, before Zoro abruptly turned and whisked himself off to find Nami. You cupped your hands around your mouth and called after him, “Don’t reopen your wounds! You’re still healing!” The swordsman stopped dead in his tracks, his shoulders raising, before he let his muscles slump and he sent you a wave.
“I won’t!” He resumed his pace, glancing over his shoulder and sending you his signature smirk before he thought over his plan for the navigator. You sighed, a slight twinge of frustration evident on your face as your boyfriend rushed off to who knows where. That impulsive idiot.
    +++
You weren’t able to find Zoro for the rest of that day, and he seemed to be avoiding you for the rest of the week. You’d pass him and he’d only give you a meager nod. You’d tried to catch him, but he was always one step ahead of you, vanishing somewhere else on the ship. Even your crewmates seemed to be up to something, and it frustrated you to no end that you were being left out on the secret. Even Nami and Robin refused to give you any sort of insight beyond a cheeky smile and a sly smirk.
You were tired of chasing everyone around to try and get an answer, so you gave up and resorted to just tucking yourself into a book while resting on the Sunny’s swing on the lawn deck. Exquisite smells were drifting from the kitchen, causing your stomach to rumble. You were excited for dinner, and couldn’t wait to see what Sanji was cooking. Alerted to someone’s presence, you looked up to see Chopper peeking out from behind the main mast.
“Chopper? Everything okay?” You were a bit confused as to why the reindeer seemed so shy. Once you spoke up, he seemed to freak out, glancing around hurriedly as if he was in a panic. Chopper skittered over to you, leaning up to whisper something in your ear.
“U-Uhm! Zoro is hurt again, he’s in the aquarium—“ He whispered, seeming on the verge of tears. You jolted upwards, dropping your book, hurrying to the aquarium.
“Well c’mon! You’re the doctor, aren’t you?” You shouted over your shoulder at Chopper, your heart pounding. You’d warned him about being careful, did he forget what he said about making things up to you? That idiot probably tore through his stitches and was smearing blood all over— Oh.
You made it to the aquarium, only to stop dead in your tracks. The usual blue mood lighting was cast over the familiar silhouette of a recognizable swordsman. It was picturesque, really, Zoro sitting cross legged on a large blanket, surrounded by an assortment of mismatched candles. The warm lighting reflected off of every plane in his face, his closed eye blinking open once he heard you approach. Your breath nearly caught in your throat at his deep black eyes sparkling in the candlelight, refracting the deep blues around him.
The atmosphere was stunning, pretty fish of all shapes and sizes swimming in the large glass windows. You had no idea why Zoro was choosing to sit on the floor instead of in one of the plush cushioned seats that lined the exterior wall, but you brushed it off as one of his usual quirks. He seemed to have tidied himself up a bit more than usual, freshly shaved, and his normally wild green hair had been brushed. He had exchanged his large forest green coat for a nicer shirt, and the bandages on his arms were clean and neat.
“Well? You just gonna stand there?” His arms were crossed over his chest, the faintest blush visible in the dark room. Laid out in front of him was an elegant and fragrant dinner, no doubt put together by Sanji. Your favorite dishes and desserts were organized atop the blanket, decorated with tiny heart motifs. A small tone dial played soft music, drifting across the expanse of the room.
Eventually shaking out of your stupor, you slowly paced to the blanket, sitting down across from Zoro. You gave him an odd look, raising a brow. “You do all this yourself?” Zoro was definitely not the type to pull a full-out romantic dinner, the man wouldn’t know classic romance if it stabbed him in the ass. You knew someone else had put him up to this, likely Nami or Robin. The man in front of you just scowled, his blush deepening as he looked away.
“It was my idea, jackass.” He muttered good-naturedly, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. “I asked the navigator and the perv cook for help, yeah, but it was my idea to make it up to you.” The swordsman was growing more and more flustered by the second, his cool demeanor slipping. His heart was pounding faster than ever. It increasingly frustrated him, how he was unable to maintain his usual snarky self around you. You were constantly on his mind, even in the middle of battles. You ramped up his adrenaline, made his heart pound, and filled his chest with a fluttery feeling that he couldn’t decipher.
It was silent between the two of you, before Zoro sighed, lifting a small bouquet of flowers likely gathered from Robin’s garden. He refused to meet your eyes, the confident man suddenly sheepish. “Look, I know I fucked up. I didn’t mean what I said.” He murmured, waiting for you to gently hold the bouquet before he pulled back and rested on his hands braced behind him. “I just wanna get strong enough that you don’t have t’ worry about me, yeah?” His voice was softer, unfamiliar.
You knew he was sorry the second the words had left his mouth, that it was brought on by exhaustion and adrenaline. He knew it wasn’t okay, and he was making up for it, that was enough for you. A soft smile graced your lips, and you tilted your head, admiring the flowers that now rested in your lap. He was trying, you knew it was difficult for him to verbalize his feelings, and you weren’t going to ask him to. “I’m always gonna worry about you, Zoro. It comes with the territory of being your partner.” You sidled closer to him, your knees touching.
The swordsman turned to look at you, his hands itching to pull you closer. You looked ethereal in the low light, your features enhanced by the candles that surrounded the two of you. “This whole thing is… new to me.” He grunted, his eye wandering over the array of things he’d prepared for the date. “I need to get stronger so I won’t get hurt when I fight, then you won’t have to worry.” His meager way of thinking had you laughing softly to yourself, Zoro furrowing his brow.
“Getting hurt in a fight is inevitable. All I ask is that you try and care about yourself a bit more.” Setting down the flowers, you reached out for one of his large hands, cradling it in both of yours. Your thumbs traced over the tiny scars on his fingers and palm, likely the consequence of playing with swords all his life. “Just love yourself as much as I love you, okay?” Pulling your eyes away from his hand, you realized that Zoro was staring at you intently, his good eye fixed on you.
The intensity of his stare had your hair standing on end, butterflies filling your stomach instantly. “…What? Something on my face?” You mumbled, before Zoro pulled his hand out of your grip and instead used it to cup the back of your head, bringing your face to his. Hesitantly connecting your lips, he kissed you, the action full of longing and affection. You hummed into him, pushing your side flush against his when the two of you pulled away.
He braced his arm behind you, letting you lean on his broad, muscular chest. You heard him quietly whisper to himself, “I feel like I ate a devil fruit and got doused with seawater.” You looked up at him in confusion and he quickly explained. “Something about you makes me feel all… gooey.” You laughed at his frustrated expression, bumping your shoulder against his.
“That’s called love, Zoro.” You reached for some of the food in front of you, humming happily as you began to eat. It was nice, finally being back in his warm embrace. You heard him make a ‘hmm.” sound, leaning his head on yours after a few moments. The two of you dug into the dishes that Sanji had made you, a comfortable silence falling between you scarcely being broken. You felt content again, happy that you and Zoro had patched over your rocky argument. Pausing for a moment before bringing a spoon to your mouth, you launched a punch at Zoro’s chest.
“What the hell was that for?” He barely even winced, looking at you incredulously. He didn’t know what he’d done this time, confusion clouding his mind as he tried to think about what all he’d said in the past few moments. It wasn’t like your punch hurt him, far from it. He just didn’t know what caused you to lash out.
“Now we’re even.” You nodded, earning an annoyed snort from Zoro before he gently cupped your head again, bringing you back and smushing your face against his chest. You laughed, being careful not to lean into him too hard since he was still healing.
The two of you spent a while like that, tangled together, enjoying your meal and each other’s company. You were bringing yourself to forget Zoro’s words, convinced he was intent on righting his wrongs. The man in question had pulled you into his lap and you stayed there, comfortable. Zoro pushed himself to be more affectionate than usual, something you thoroughly enjoyed. You were warmed by the extent he went out of his comfort zone to fix things.
As the candles slowly burned down and you basked in the attention Zoro gave you, you heaved a content and loving sigh, relaxing completely in the embrace of your lover.

"Cal, dinner's up!" Greez hollers at the engine room.
"O-okay! I'll be there soon!"
Be there soon? "Kid, it's about ten of your giant steps from there to here. Get down here!"
"I, uh, I can't right now, but I will soon!"
BD trumpets his support for Cal.
He's up to something. He must be. Greez looks to Cere for support. She holds up a hand and heads for the engine room. "Cal? Is everything..."
There's a horrified cry and a noisy scramble. "Don't come in!"
Greez hears Cere stop still. "What's wrong?" she asks gently.
Greez can practically hear the kid's blushes. "I had to wash my clothes," Cal says, trailing off at the end.
Greez doesn't get it. "So put something else on! I'll even accept pyjamas at the table this one time."
There's a brief pause. And then: "I don't have anything else."
And Greez's heart breaks immediately, because of course Cal doesn't have anything else to wear. They haven't stopped off anywhere other than Bogano and Zeffo, and neither of those places are thriving commercial hubs.
Which also means he's sleeping in the same clothes he wore when they pulled him off Bracca.
"I might have something that will do for now," Cere says.
Five minutes later, Cal joins them for dinner. He's clad in a baggy shirt Greez knows Cere occasionally uses as a nightdress, and a pair of sweats that might fit Cere but end mid-calf on Cal. BD hops onto the table and stares at Greez as if challenging him to say anything. Greez hands over a plate of curry and lets BD scan it as a peace offering. "We're detouring to a market barge I know," he says. "No arguing."
BD accepts this with a beep.
Cal takes the plate. "Okay," he says. "Thanks, Greez."
"Yeah, you're welcome. We'll even find you some pyjamas with cute starships all over them. Or maybe some loth cats. Doubt we'll find any with boglings, but that might be a good way for us to make some extra credits."
"Sounds nice," Cal says. He scoops up a spoonful of curry and rice. "I haven't had pyjamas in a long time."
The question is out of Greez's mouth before he can stop it. "How long?"
Cal shrugs. "Since before the Order fell. Had to always be ready to work or run on Bracca."
"Two pairs of pyjamas," Greez says, salting his curry sauce.

After they start dating, Brainy jokes to Winn about the two of them going in matching Brainiac 1 costumes again for Halloween. Winn decides to pick out something more normal and not-horrifying for them to wear.
“So…” Winn starts, turning to Brainy as the two of them worked at computers next to one another. “Halloweenis coming up.”
“I noticed.”Brainy answers dryly. “Things are starting to become more active around here, now.”
“Yeah, it’s likethis every year. But, in terms of costumes, what’re we doing? Since we’redating, you know.”
Brainy’s lookturns to a glare, as he says “Please, no more dressing up as Brainiac 1.Anything but that.”
Winn laughs at hisboyfriend’s too-serious expression. “Pfft, I wasn’t thinking about it at all.”
“Liar.”
“I wasn’t!”
“Then what?”
“I’ll think aboutit.”

I'm not going to promise actually finishing another Monday minific today because the heat is killing my brain cells but the concept is Aymeric visiting Ul'dah for fun (gasp) and being extremely, comically miserable about the heat and Trying So Hard to 1. hide it from Alyx and 2. not die
