Here’s another story about the wildly popular Tiny Houses craze.
Lisa Tranter and Matt Hobbs live in the Blue Mountains just outside of Sydney, Australia. They Aussies claim they spent approximately $62K AUS/$90K USD to build and furnish their Tiny House and had to do some of the building work themselves in order to keep costs down. If they hadn’t, they estimate the total end cost could have totalled about 1/3 more. They found it challenging to find a lender that would mortgage their property for them. This meant they had to save and have all the money they needed up front in order to budget and successfully build their Timy House.
Lisa states that “It’s a beautiful and modern space but small!” She says they must consistently keep their home clean and uncluttered otherwise it starts to feel smaller. They are both very conscientious about everything they want to purchase. If they don’t absolutely need it, they don’t purchase it. Managing their space is the number one priority.
So what are your thoughts? Are Tiny Houses the way to the future to solve the world’s housing crisis? Or another they just another fad that will come and go? They look like they would make the perfect Air BnB or “glamping” (glamourus camping) get away.
I’m not sure I could liver like this on a permanent full-time basis. I’m too much of a clutter bug (partner says boarder-line hoarder) 😂 Plus I love all my worldly treasures. Everything has a story. This sounds like another story for another day. 😊

Our goals are to give up our typical life, become mobile, and live the life of a nomad. It’s hard to imagine sometimes and the idea is a very scary one for me. I have relied on stability my entire life. I wanted to be married, and have a family and a…

In the design on this kitchen there was an awkward shape to overcome - the use of pale color means that you are almost unaware of how close the walls are.
