Do you know any Indian horror movies like a slasher film (or just in general) because I've personally never seen an Indian slasher movie? Or Indian musicals because I love musicals or just Indian films in general I would love some recommendations!!!<3
Hey! There aren't that many Indian slashers but two I remember are NH10 and Chup: Revenge of the Artist. For other horror, I recommend Bulbbul, Tumbbad, Aamis and Manichitrathazu (this one has been remade in other Indian languages so you can also check those out)
Indian musicals well. I will be really honest most of our movies technically fall under this category we just have to start dancing everywhere BUT to start off, I'll recommend some movies from the different industries:
Hindi: Om Shanti Om, 3 Idiots (mandatory viewing if you want to get into Indian cinema), Rang De Basanti, Qala, Sholay, Taare Zameen Par, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Fitoor
Telugu: Jersey, Magadheera, Sita Ramam, Shyam Singha Roy, Eega (don't question anything. Please don't) and Mahanati
Malayalam: Uyare, Premam, Bangalore Days, Minnal Murali, Athiran, Jallikkattu and Jana Gana Mana
Tamil: Iruvar, Ponniyin Selvan (both parts), Kaithi and its sequel Vikram, Jai Bhim, Super Deluxe, Gargi, Paava Kadhaigal and Soorarai Pottru
For Marathi I've only watched Sairat and The Disciple but I would recommend both and for Kannada there's always 777 Charlie (it's about a dog. What more could you want)
Like you can probably tell, there is a LOT meaning that there's a lot of other amazing stuff I had to leave out but I think this is a good starting point (our film output is number 1 in the world for a reason). Feel free to ask if you want more recs <3

why do you think people will appreciate a top gun, or any other Hollywood action movie for that matter and Diss an Indian movie like war or pathan ? Most of them show hyper reality, don't have a story and rely heavily on cgi. What's with this angelised idea of everything foreign must be better than homegrown product? Your thoughts? TIA.
I mean, I get calling it out on technical points like the vfx or the writing of the plot/screenplay or something, because that's a case by case thing and some projects deserve it. I myself called out Brahmastra and Pathaan for aspects I found weak in them. But I also know that we still are behind Hollywood in terms of budgets and technical expertise in some areas. But in general, if one is dissing things just coz it came out of the subcontinent, to me that looks like internalized racism. Like if you can consume media from the west like Gladiator or Mission Impossible series or 4 million Marvel DC movies and think it's the most amazing shit everrrrrrr give it all the Oscarssssssss, but something like Maula Jatt, or the YRF Spy Movies, and Minnal Murali are inferior JUST because it's NOT made by Hollywood (and thus think why are these even being made if they can't match standards established by them)..........? Dumb. Sit down and examine where those beliefs of western superiority come from. Those movies have just as many faults as anything produced by us, it's just glossed over by the virtue of being produced by Hollywood.

December for the cinephiles
-Gautham Harish E
Usually December in the past years were mainly for Christmas, flood, rain etc. But for this year 2021, it had been an important month for the cinephiles. In this year’s December, most awaited movies for the fans were released and been a blockbuster. Fans were eagerly waiting for this month. Some of them fans were satisfied and some of them were unsatisfied. Director, producers, actresses, actors, music directors and all of the crew were happy about the box office
Most awaited movies were released and ran successfully. Many of them really lives up to their expectations. Movies that released in December were
Spiderman no way home, the matrix, bachelor, atrangi re, 83, salalga, badava rascal, madagaraja, writer, Rocky etc. Some of them were released on OTT but still made a huge impact in the cinema industry like atrangi re and minnal murali. Some movies like madagaraja, the Matrix and bachelor left the fans disappointed. But the movie with full expectations and hype left the fans satisfied like Spiderman no way home, 83, Badava rascal, minnal murali etc. Also as per the box office they made a huge collection and been a blockbuster.
The month December for sure been a treat for the fans and the general audience too. Though some of them left the fans audience unsatisfied, most of the Audience were happy watching their favorite actors giving hit.

The short employs minimal dialogue, relying instead on gentle background music to accompany most scenes. Velicham has a significant impact by drawing our attention to subtle issues of the class system and inspiring discussions on how we can work towards a more equitable and compassionate society. The story prompts us to count our blessings and be happy no matter how much life crushes us down. Velicham is going to be one of those artworks that is going to make us think as well as bring about a change within.

Mukesh Khanna DELETES video slamming Ranveer Singh as Shaktimaan
Mukesh Khanna, the OG Shaktimaan, was slamming Ranveer Singh as it is rumoured that the latter will be headlining Shaktimaan.
Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, best known for his iconic portrayal of the superhero Shaktimaan, recently posted on his social media about the rumoured Shaktimaan project casting that is doing the rounds with Bollywood Superstar Ranveer Singh. The video was first uploaded on YouTube and then posted on his Instagram. Both have now been taken down by Khanna. The video which has now been deleted had remarks about the potential Shaktiman movie.
Tumblr media
The reports have long been making rounds on the casting for the reported superhero film however, no confirmation has come. Reacting to the reports, Khanna made a video and shared it on his social media, which didn’t make Singh’s fans happy.
Having said that it is worth mentioning here that Bollywood Hungama is consistently sharing the updates regarding the upcoming film. A well-informed source had earlier told us, "Basil has been working on this project for more than a year. He wanted to do something completely different with Ranveer in the super-hero space as compared with what Basil did with Tovino Thomas in Minnal Murali. Basil has finally cracked the script, which will be more emotional than action oriented. Of course, Ranveer will fly. But there will be a lot more to it than the cosmetic stereotypes of the superhero genre."

Get ready to embark on a thrilling ride through the murky world of crime, investigation and police procedures with Tovino Thomas’s latest flick, “Anveshippin Kadethum” on Netflix. Thomas, with his superhero charm from “Minnal Murali,” effortlessly slips into the role of Cop SI Anand Narayanan, whose determination to crack the case knows no bounds. Let me confess that Tovino has impressed me

Velicham delivers the message of “Happiness can be found anywhere”
Tumblr media
Velicham is a 2023 avant-garde Tamil short film that immerses the viewers into the lives of two young siblings, Bujimma and her brother, as they handle life with all its harshness in a dump yard in Tamil Nadu, India. This heart-wrenching tale invites audiences to empathize with the experiences of these children and prompts deep reflection on societal attitudes towards marginalized communities. This 24-minute short film is produced by a joint venture of DN Media Productions and Haritham Movies. Directed by Sanu K Chandran and Nidhin Salgunan, Velicham, is a unique blend of music and emotion, presented in an unconventional style.
The two siblings are portrayed by Master Davinchi Satheesh (Best Child Artist at Kerala State Film Awards 2023) and Baby Thennal Rithu.
